The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while driving 80 MPH, the vehicle stopped abruptly. The check engine, traction control, stability control, and air conditioner warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, while driving 75 MPH, the vehicle unintendedly decelerated. The contact was concerned about driving the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who determined the failure was due to the throttle body. The vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The throttle body was previously replaced, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

The air conditioning stopped working after working amazing, Traction Control Disabled light keeps coming on, The RPM's would rev up seems like it gets stuck then drops to normal. stabilitrak messages with the ABS warning light lit up, Power steering (or power control) goes limp (at the worse times pulling out in traffic) It’s on issue after the other. Once I get one fixed another goes, then we’re back to the first one that was replaced that is now not working again. I still have a car payment so I’m without my car more than I’m driving it. I have to save up to get it fixed, and I won’t drive it until I know for sure it’s good. I was almost killed way to many times in it so to all the issues that GM knows about.

Traveling at 70 MPH on a highway Traction control/stabilitrac and engine turn on and acceleration stopped, car wont accelerate causing to cars behind me to start swirling around due to my car lost of acceleration, then pulled over to the shoulder thankfully with no accidents, then turn off car and turn on again and car worked normally for about 100 miles and it did it again.

The head front left head light has had to be replaced 3 times in 3 months same for the left turn signal. Another issue I have is each time I put gas in, the car gets stuck trying to turn over Until I pump the gas.

Vehicle died while taking off from the intersection. Leaving us stranded on a busy highway. Engine had sized but oil has been changed every 5k miles with synthetic. No warning light just shut off and wpuld not restart. With 6 kids in the car

I was driving down the freeway at about 67 MPH when the message "Traction Control Disabled" came on my display & the car immediately went into "limp mode"! By some miracle I was able to muscle the car out of the slow lane, onto the shoulder as I lost my power steering once in limp mode. I waited a few minutes, car started up just fine, so I shrugged it off. Fast forward 1 week later & the same thing happened to me on my way home on a curvy mountain road. The power steering was again non-existent & luckily, there was no one behind me, nor did anyone come around the corner & hit my disabled car. Once again, it started up, no problem; however, this is when the harsh forward thrust started happening, & the transmission seemed to be slipping gears. The RPM's would rev to the 6000 range & immediately fall down to 1500. I took it to the dealer & sadly paid $3,400 for a new tranny on a 5-year-old car. (No warranty, of course). I started having the same issues about 2 years later, only this time the driver was not so lucky as they were mid-curve on the mountain road. Right as the roadway came out of the bend, the car went into limp mode, power steering lost & wheels stuck in a right turn position, car went off the roadway & into a telephone pole, broke that in half due to the angle of the pole in the mountainside & down the steep embankment about 40-50 feet. All airbags deployed & driver was able to walk away (hike away) but the car was a total loss. Driver was traveling 40-45 mph. There was no indication, no warning, just from travel to nothing.

2012 chevy traverse. Feb 20 2020. Milage 127691 My valve cover gaskets failed causing the cabin to fill with smoke. Sept 11 2020 right front axel seal failed causing ptu to lose all the transfer case fluid and bearings. Transfer case replaced. Feb 22 2021 milage 141464 transmission slipping had new one installed. Jan 5 2022 milage 153350 had timing chains replaced. Check engine light came on. Back on june 29 2012 Chevrolet issued a bulletin No. 11340B special coverage adjustment timing chain wear. It is for 2007-2009 traverse acadia outlook enclave equipped with the same 3.6L Engine as my 2012 and other years. they extended warranty coverage for 10 years 120k miles. seeing this problem existed in 07-09 models this should be looked at and to include other years as well. I am a member of 2 facebook traverse groups and there are a lot of others with the same issue. The owners manual says to change engine oil every 5000 miles I have done that. Please look into adding additional years to this recall. Timing chains should not fail stretch or need replacing as much as I have seen others needing to. A vehicle should go well over 200k miles before needing replacing.

The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle took a long time to start-up. While driving approximately 20-40 MPH, the vehicle would not accelerate then shifted into limp mode. The ABS, check engine, traction control, and service air bags warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that the wheel bearings were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. I was driving to the store and my car dinged and a message saying something like service stabilitrack flashed. The car slowed and I pulled over and turned off the car. Eventually I turned the car on and it was back to normal speed but then it sputtered like it was out of gas. That was 2 months ago. I've had it in the shop 2 times and my husband has been trying to replace every part suggested by gm and any other mechanic. The car continues to misfire and turn of at times during driving. This feature makes this vehicle completely unsafe. Any vehicle that simply cuts power should not be on the road as it poses unnecessary risk. Please do something.

DASH IS THROWING DIFFERENT CODES SUCH AS SERVICE AND CHECK TRACTION CONTROL, STABILITRACK, AIR BAG, AND AT TIMES WHILE DRIVING IT WILL SAY REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND MY FOOT WOULD BE ON GAS NOT WANTING TO BARELY MOVE. ONE TIME I ALMOST GOT HIT. OTHER SEVERAL TIMES I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND WE WOULD HAVE TO DISCONNECT BATTERY WAIT A LITTLE AND CAR WOULD BE OK AGAIN. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR THAT IT MAKES ME NOT WANT TO DRIVE IT AND THANK GOD WE HAVE ANOTHER CAR. I AM ALSO EXPERIENCING CATALYTIC CONVERTER ISSUES FOR THE 4TH TIME. CAR FEELS AT TIMES LIKE IT IS BOGGING WHEN ON GAS PEDDLE AS IF SOMETHING HAD A CLOG IN IT AND STARTS PULSATING. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ALSO ON.

MY MECHANIC REPLACED MY A/C REFRIGERANT HOSE DUE TO A LEAK AND MY A/C CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR. HE SAID THAT HE HAS REPLACED THE SAME PARTS ON A NUMBER OF OTHER VEHICLES SIMILAR TO MY 2012 CHEVY TRAVERSE. HE SAID THE DAMAGE TO THE A/C REFRIGERANT HOSE WAS DUE TO A BAD DESIGN WHERE A BRACKET IS LOCATED TOO CLOSE TO THE A/C REFRIGERANT HOSE.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON HAD THE CODES CHECKED AND I HAD THE ENGINE TAKEN APART TWICE BECAUSE THE TIMING CHAIN HAD JUMPED CAUSING IT TO RUN ROUGH AND LIGHT CAME BACK HAD TO DO AGAIN AND IT WAS FINE FOR A FEW MONTHS BUT MECHANIC SAID THE ENGINE IS THE SAME AS THE ENCLAVE AND ACADIA WHICH BOTH HAVE HAD RECALLS ON THIS ISSUE. THIS HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME WHILE CAR WAS IN MOTION.

NOW POWER STEERING PUMP WENT COULDN'T TURN THE WHEELS ON THE HIGHWAY. HAD TO REPLACE. ALL REPAIRS PAID OUT OF MY POCKET. WHERES THE RECALLS?? SO MANY PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME YEAR VEHICLE SAME PROBLEMS. ALL OF THESE HAVE COSTED ME SEVERAL THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OUT OF MY POCKET. ALSO HAD TO PAY DEALERSHIP FOR THE BRAKES THAT WERE BAD. 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020 ALL THE YEARS HAPPENED. WIPERS WERE THE 1ST TO FALL OFF GOT REPLACED.

AT THAT POINT THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN ON ITS OWN, AND I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD IMMEDIATELY, TO AVOID A COLLISION. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP, OR THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS A SKIPPED TIMING CHAIN AND I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE MOTOR. TOTAL COST ESTIMATED AT $8,800

WE RECENTLY EXPERIENCED A VERY HIGH REPAIR COST THAT WE INQUIRED ABOUT GETTING REIMBURSED FOR ON CASE NUMBER [XXX]. WE ASKED FOR REIMBURSEMENT DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE REPAIR IS COMMON TO THIS VEHICLE MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR AND THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN # SB-10052863-8590 (12-06-01-009D DATED AUG/2013) SUBSTANTIATING THIS. WE WERE DENIED COVERAGE FROM GMC STATING THAT OUR VEHICLE VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED ON THE BULLETIN. OUR VEHICLE HAS THE SAME TIMING CHAIN PROBLEM AS THOSE VEHICLES THAT ARE COVERED, YET OUR VIN WAS EXCLUDED. WE BELIEVE THAT EITHER YOUR CONTAINMENT OF THE ISSUE WAS CONDUCTED IN ERROR LEAVING SOME VEHICLES LIKE OURS OUT OF THE SCOPE OF CONTAINMENT OR THAT VEHICLES ARE PURPOSELY LEFT OUT OF THE SCOPE OF THE PROBLEM TO CREATE A FALSE REPORTING AND AVOID RECALL OF ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES. AND STATED THAT WE SHOULD HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED SOON. WE RETURNED HOME FROM OUR TRIP AND SHORTLY AFTER RECEIVED A WARNING "ENGINE POWER REDUCED." THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE QUICKLY. IN ATTEMPTING TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR THE TRACTION CONTROL FUNCTION QUIT OPERATING. WE WERE INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FROM GM STATING THAT THIS PROBLEM WOULD BE REPAIRED BY GM UNDER WARRANTY. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO OUR CHEVY DEALER WHO STATED THAT THIS VIN IS NOT PART OF THAT RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAS 100,243 MILES.

ON 9/12/2020 WHILE DRIVING RURAL STATE ROAD AT 55MPH THE ENGINE STALLED LOSING POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. WE SAFELY PULLED TO THE SIDE. THE ENGINE STARTED BACK UP WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND AN OBVIOUS KNOCK. TOWED THE TRAVERSE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE MONDAY WHEN THEY OPENED. DRIVERS VILLAGE DEALERSHIP CICERO NY CHECKED VEHICLE AND CONFIRMED 'VERY BAD KNOCKING WHEN VEHICLE IS RUNNING, NOISE CHANGES WITH RPMS. SCANNED AND FOUND P0016 CRANK CAM.' DIAGNOSTIC REPAIR FEE OF $250 DETERMINED THE #1 BANK ROD BROKEN- NEED ENGINE REPLACEMENT. THEY ALSO REPORTED OIL LEVEL FULL AND CLEAN WITH 57% LIFE REMAINING. THE OIL HAS ALWAYS BEEN CHANGED AT THE 3,000. I WAS PRESENTED WITH TWO QUOTES TO INSTALL A GM NEW ENGINE OR A REBUILT ENGINE. BOTH OPTIONS ARE OVER $8,500 TO REPAIR.

I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THIS CAR CUTTING OUT/STALLING FOR 2 YEARS NOW. I KEEP TAKING IT IN TO MECHANICS TO GET IT FIXED AND IT SEEMS TO WORK THEN RANDOMLY LEAVES ME AND MY DAUGHTER STRANDED. SOMETIMES IT WILL STALL ONCE AND KEEP GOING... OTHER TIMES IT HAS TAKEN ME 3-4 HOURS TO GET HOME. I'VE HAD A MAJOR TUNE UP DONE, REPLACED THE FULE PUMP, FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR, MAP SENSOR, PURGE VALVE CANISTER, CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY, AND REPLACED RELAYS. IT HAS STALLED ON FREEWAYS, AND MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC LEAVING ME STUCK IN UNSAFE LOCATIONS. SIMILAR MODELS HAVE RECALLS BUT NOT MINE. GUESSING THEY PICK AND CHOOSE HOW MANY OF THEIR VEHICLES THEY ARE WILLING TO FIX.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 102,000.

I HAVE ALWAYS HAD THE OIL CHANGED AT THE DEALERSHIP IN THE TIME AND MILEAGE THAT IS RECOMMENDED. THE TIMING CHAIN PROBLEM CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO NOT DRIVE CORRECTLY AND BOG DOWN AND NOT GET POWER WHEN APPLYING THE GAS. AT THE SAME TIME, WHEN YOU PRESS THE GAS PEDAL, THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE. ALSO, THE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK. THIS HAPPENS WHETHER YOU'RE DRIVING 5 MILES AN HOUR OR 55+ MILES PER HOUR. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT OCCURS EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR. I HAVE NOTICED THAT IF THE TEMPERATURE IS UNDER 40 DEGREES, IT HAPPENS MORE TIMES THAN WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS GREATER THAN 40 DEGREES. I LIVE IN PENNSYLVANIA AND THE TEMPERATURE DIPS VERY LOW. I DRIVE A MINIMUM OF 300 MILES A DAY M-F AND THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS FLAW. I AM REPORTING THIS BECAUSE I HAVE EXHAUSTED ALL OF MY RESOURCES. THE ONLY WAY I HAVE FOUND TO RESET THE TRACTION CONTROL, IS TO PULL OVER, TURN THE CAR OFF, AND WAIT FOR 3-5 MINUTES. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR IN TO DETERMINE WHAT WAS GOING ON, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD GONE OFF AND THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT ABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM INITIALLY AND HAD TO KEEP THE CAR OVERNIGHT TO DETERMINE THE DIAGNOSIS THAT THE TIMING CHAIN KIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS REPAIR WOULD NO LONGER FALL UNDER THE GM WARRANTY. UPON SEARCHING ONLINE AND HAVING MY CAR LOOKED AT BY AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP, I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THE CHEVROLET TRAVERSE AND GM HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL.

STABILITRAK SYSTEM, TRACTION CONTROL, CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ALL CAME ON. AFTER SITTING FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES, IT STARTED BACK UP WITH LESS VIOLENT SHAKING BUT STILL WITH REDUCED POWER, SHE WAS ABLE TO 'LIMP' TO THE PELLEGRINO DEALERSHIP IN WILLIAMSTOWN, NJ. IT HAD FAULT CODES P0300 AND P0303 FOR RANDOM ENGINE MISFIRE AND CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE. THEY DIAGNOSED AS "MINIMALLY NEEDING CYLINDER #3 FUEL INJECTOR PLUS ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSTICS AFTERWARDS TO DETERMINE FULL EXTENT OF ISSUE" FIRST THRESHOLD WOULD BE $1500 AND POSSIBLY SEVERAL THOUSAND POSSIBLY INCLUDING AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT. THEY OFFERED $2000 TRADE-IN TOWARD ANOTHER VEHICLE THERE. WITH HARDLY ANY DIAGNOSTICS, I WAS SURPRISED OF 'POSSIBLE ENGINE REPLACEMENT' DIAGNOSIS, SO I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER SHOP TO DO THE FUEL INJECTOR REPLACEMENT PLUS CHECK PLUGS, COILS (ALL GOOD), CLEAN REMAINING FUEL INJECTORS AND INTAKE MANIFOLD FOR A FRACTION OF WHAT THE DEALERSHIP QUOTED. CYLINDER COMPRESSION WAS GOOD, BUT THE SAME RANDOM MISFIRE P0300 CODE AND P0303 CODES STILL COME UP AND IDLES VERY ROUGH WITH ENGINE NOISE AND SIGNIFICANT REDUCED POWER. CLEARLY, THE INJECTOR WAS NOT THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. IF FUEL IS GIVEN MORE AGGRESSIVELY, ALL THE STABILITRAK LIGHTS COME BACK UP. IN DOING ADDITIONAL RESEARCH ONLINE, IT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE. OIL CHANGES WERE PERFORMED ROUTINELY AT THE DEALERSHIP SINCE WE HAD A "LUBE FOR LIFE" CONTRACT. MILEAGE IS 116,640.

MY HUSBAND AND I WENT TO THE STORE WITH OUR TWO KIDS JUST TO GRAB SOME GROCERIES. WE LIVE LESS THAN 5 MILES FROM THE GROCERY STORE. WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION WHEN THE CAR DECIDED TO START SPUTTERING, SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND THEN SHUT OFF. THANKFULLY ENOUGH WE WERE ABLE TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT TO TRY AND FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED. AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS THE CAR FINALLY STARTED BACK UP. WE WERE NOT ABLE TO GO ABOVE 20 MPH. WE FOUND OUT THAT THE FUEL PUMP WENT OUT SO WE SPENT THE $300 TO REPLACE THAT. ONCE THAT WAS REPLACED WE THOUGHT WE WERE IN THE CLEAR. ABOUT TWO DAYS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN EXCEPT I WAS ON THE EXPRESSWAY DOING ABOUT 70-80 MPH. SAME THING, WAS ABLE TO START IT UP AGAIN AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS, COULDN'T GO ABOVE 40 MPH THIS TIME. ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO WE STARTED HAVING P0017, P0018, P0019 TROUBLE CODES POP UP. WE TRIED TO REPLACE THE SENSORS AND THEY WERE STILL POPPING UP. WE CLEARED THEM, ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES LATER THEY WOULD POP BACK UP AGAIN. THURSDAY THE CAR WAS WORKING FINE. IT WAS RUNNING GREAT, NO SHAKING, WASN'T ACTING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL OUT. THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON BUT WE ARE NOW TO THE POINT THAT THERE IS SOME SORT OF ELECTRICAL ISSUE GOING ON. THIS IS OUR ONLY VEHICLE, AND WE HAVE TWO KIDS AND JOBS TO GET TO. WE ARE TIRED OF PUTTING MONEY INTO THIS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT. MY PARENTS OWNED THIS CAR BEFORE WE DID. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT HAS BEEN WELL DOCUMENTED-SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENING. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT NO ONE IS TAKING THESE VEHICLES OFF OF THE ROAD! IT WAS COASTED TO THE SHOULDER AND TRIED RESTARTING IT BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. CHECKED THE OIL DIPSTICK AND IT WAS READING EMPTY. TWO QUARTS OF OIL WAS ADDED AND IT STILL WOULDN'T START. THE SUV HAD BEEN DRIVEN ABOUT 4K MILES SINCE PURCHASED WITH NO OIL CHANGE BUT AT NO POINT DID THE OIL LIGHT COME ON TO SAY IT WAS LOW. IT WAS TOWED TO RINCON CHEVY WHERE THEY SAID IT WAS CATASTROPHIC INTERNAL ENGINE FAILURE AND ENGINE TO HAVE NO COMPRESSION. CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS PURCHASED FROM, WALDORF HONDA, AND THEY CONTINUED TO SAY THE OIL NOT BEING CHANGED AT 3K MILES FOR THE PROBLEM. THEY CONTINUED TO IGNORE THE FACT THAT I CALLED THEM THE DAY AFTER PURCHASE THAT I NOTICED A HESITATION WHILE DRIVING. TOLD THEM A SECOND TIME IN PERSON ABOUT IT AND WAS TOLD TO DRIVE IT UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS. I HAVE READ OTHER INSTANCES ABOUT THESE SAME TYPES OF PROBLEMS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE FOR ANYONE AS FOR RIDING IN THIS SUV WAS A MAN, AN EIGHT MONTH PREGNANT WOMAN, AND A THREE YEAR OLD CHILD THAT WAS TRAVELING ON A HIGHWAY WHERE SPEED LIMIT WAS 70 MPH. IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED. THEY ARE STILL PUTTING ON THAT IT'S MY FAULT AND ARE SURPRISED THAT THE WARRANTY COMPANY IS OFFERING TO PAY ABOUT 30% OF THE COST TO REPLACE THE MOTOR. SAYING THAT REPLACING THE MOTOR IS THE ONLY OPTION AND ALSO THE ONLY WAY TO FIGURE OUT THE HESITATION ISSUE, A POSSIBLE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM.

AFTER PAYING UPWARDS OF $1,000.00 TO REPLACE AND CHECK EVERYTHING WE HEADED ON THE ROAD. NO LESS THAT 60 MILES FROM HOME, WHILE GOING 65 ON THE FREEWAY, MY CAR LOST ALL POWER. POWER STEERING, AC, THE WHOLE THING JUST SHUT DOWN! WE BARELY MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY TO BE SAFE FROM THE TRAFFIC, AGAIN, MY CHILDREN ARE IN THIS CAR IN 90+ DEGREE WEATHER ON THE SIDE OF A FREEWAY! I WAS DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN WHILE EXITING A HIGHWAY OFF-RAMP, AND OUR CHEVY TRAVERSE SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED AND I TEMPORARILY LOST POWER STEERING/CONTROL OF THE CAR, HAD NO ACCELERATION, AND ALL INSTRUMENTS WENT WONKY (TURNING ON/OFF, GOING BACK AND FORTH). I WAS FORCED TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY OFF-RAMP ONTO A DANGEROUSLY NARROW SHOULDER WITH MINIMAL ROOM, AND HAD TO COAST THE CAR TO THE END OF THE OFF-RAMP-- AND THEN WAS STUCK AT THE OFF RAMP AT A RED LIGHT IN RUSH-HOUR TRAFFIC. AFTER TOWING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, WE REPLACED THE BATTERY AT THE SUGGESTION OF OUR LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP. THEN ABOUT 4 MONTHS LATER, THE PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED AGAIN AS I WAS EXITING OUR DRIVEWAY ON MY WAY TO WORK. WE HAD IT TOWED TO OUR LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP, AND AFTER 4 DAYS OF RUNNING DIAGNOSTICS AND TEST DRIVING IT, THEY FINALLY CONCLUDED IT WAS A FAULTY TRANSMISSION MODULE. WE NOW HAVE TO PAY $ 1,700.00 OUT OF POCKET TO REPAIR THE CAR, AS WERE ONE YEAR OVER THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY (BUT ONLY 55K MILES ON THE CAR). AT THE TIME THIS HAPPENED, OUR TRAVERSE ONLY HAD APPROX. 57K MILES ON IT.

I WAS LUCKY NOT TO BE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, LUCKY I WAS DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET GOING 25 MILES. I HAD MY CHILDREN WITH ME!!! THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED DEATH TO MY FAMILY!!! WE TOOK IT TO OUR MECHANIC WHO AGREED BUT ADVISED US THAT GM HAD A TIB WHICH EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 120,000 MILES DUE TO A PROBLEMATIC ISSUE WITH THEIR TIMING CHAINS. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A GM DEALERSHIP. THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN WAS LOOSE AND ADVISED THAT IT DAMAGED THE ENGINE WHICH WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT THE COST OF $9000. MY HUSBAND CONTACTED GM SEVERAL TIMES ONLY TO BE ADVISED THAT, ALTHOUGH THE SAME ISSUE, THE TIB DID NOT APPLY TO OUR VIN. I HAVE CONTACT GM SEVERAL TIMES TO DISCUSS WHY THIS SEEMS TO BE A CHRONIC PROBLEM WITH TRAVERSES FOR SEVERAL CONSECUTIVE MODEL YEARS, HOWEVER THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO DISCUSS THE ISSUE AS THEIR CANNED ANSWER IS IT'S OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY PERIOD. WE HAVE 107,000 MILES ON OUR VEHICLE AND WOULD NEVER HAVE PURCHASED THIS CAR HAD WE BEEN AWARE OF THE CATASTROPHIC ISSUES WITH THE TIMING CHAIN. I HAVE BEEN ONLINE AND SEE SO MANY FAMILIES EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE WITH NO ASSISTANCE FROM GM. THEY OFFERED US $3000 TOWARDS A NEW CAR, HOWEVER, AT THIS TIME, WE ARE NOT IN A POSITION TO READILY ACCEPT A CAR PAYMENT. WE HAVE TWO SONS IN COLLEGE AND ARE NOT LOOKING AT HAVING TO GO INTO DEBT TO CORRECT A PROBLEM THAT WE DON'T BELIEVE WE SHOULD BE HAVING. THE CAR WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP AND RECEIVED A 153 POINT INSPECTION ONLY 4 WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS TIMING CHAIN FAILURE AND THEY DID NOT REPORT ANY ISSUES TO US. WITH THE NUMBER OF CONSUMERS REPORTING THIS ISSUE, I HOPE THERE WILL BE AN INVESTIGATION AND COMPENSATION TO THOSE OF US WHO TRUSTED IN GM TO MANUFACTURER A CAR THAT WE COULD ENJOY AFTER IT WAS PAID FOR. I TOOK CARE OF THE CAR AND AFTER SEVEN YEARS THEY SAY THE ENGINE IS GONE!!!! NO WAY!!! I TOOK GREAT CARE OF THAT CAR!!! DIANE SAUER NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS!!!! WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, IT REGAINED NORMAL ACCELERATION; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED MORE FREQUENTLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE ACCELERATOR SENSOR. THE REPAIRS DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO LOSE ACCELERATION. THE SPEED WOULD NOT EXCEED 20 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR FAILED AND THE ENGINE TIMING CHAIN STRETCHED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE WARRANTED REPAIR FOR THE TIMING CHAIN REPLACEMENT, WHICH ENDED IN 2017. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER WHERE IS WAS DIAGNOSED WITH STRETCHED TIMING CHAINS, TIMING OFF BY 2 TEETH, SHOES & GUIDES WORN OUT, & 2 ACTUATORS WILL NOT PARK. INVOICE FOR REPAIRS WERE FOR $4461.57. THE VEHICLE IS 6 YEARS OLD AND HAD APPROXIMATELY 87K MILES WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. DUE TO CAR BEING PURCHASED USED, EXPIRED WARRANTY , MANUFACTURER REFUSED REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS DESPITE HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FOR THIS ENGINE MODEL.

LAST TIME, I BOUGHT THE CAR OVER IN MAY, I DROPPED IN OFF BECAUSE MY CAR WAS SHAKING, GAS WAS COMING OUT THE PIPE AND THEN IT STOPPED AND RECEIVED MY CAR BACK OVER 24 HOURS LATER. WHEN I PICKED MY CAR BACK, I RECEIVED A ESTIMATE OF ATLEAST $3,000 AND WAS TOLD IF I WERE TO GET THE CERTAIN REPAIRS DONE TO THE CAR, IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT, MY CAR WOULD STOP HAVING THE PROBLEM, WHEN THE CAR STOPS. AGAIN, THIS MONTH, MY CAR DID THE SAME THING AND THE TRUNK DOOR WOULD NOT STAY OPEN, I HAVE TO HOLD THE DOOR UP WITH MY HANDS. ENGINE ISSUES APPEARED AROUND 80K MILES. STARTED AS A PINGING SOUND WHEN DRIVING ONE DAY, WITHIN 20 MINUTES AND WITHOUT WARNING, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND POWER WAS VERY LIMITED. WAS DRIVING ON A TWO LANE ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER, COULD HAVE BEEN A MUCH DIFFERENT SITUATION IF THIS OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY OR IN A HIGH TRAFFIC AREA. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO REPORTED ENGINE FAILURE AND "REPLACED 2 RODS." COVERED UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. NOT EVEN 1 YEAR LATER, AT 100,750 MILES, THE ENGINE FAILED AGAIN. SAME SOUND WHEN PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. IMMEDIATELY PARKED AND HAD CAR TOWED AGAIN. DEALER STATED THAT IT IS NO LONGER WITHIN THE 100,000 POWER TRAIN MILE WARRANTY AND WILL COST UPWARDS OF $5,900 TO REPAIR. VEHICLE WAS SERVICED IN ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS.

CAR RAN PERFECT BEFORE THIS INCIDENT AND I ADHERED TO OIL CHANGE SCHEDULE . I STILL OWE $20,000 ON IT! GM AND CHEVY WILL NOT HELP, EVEN THO I BOUGHT FROM A CHEVY DEALERSHIP. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE OIL PRESSURE LOW INDICATOR ILLUMINATED THEN THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, AND STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT WENT ON. ENGINE WAS RUNNING ROUGH AND NEEDED TO BE SHUT OFF AND TURNED BACK ON IN ORDER TO RESTART THE VEHICLE TO NORMAL FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT INTO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDS A NEW THROTTLE BODY. AFTER CONTACTING GENERAL MOTORS, WE WERE TOLD THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 2012 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE, AND IN SOME CASES AN EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS BEEN GIVEN. WE WERE THEN TOLD THAT OUR VEHICLE DOES NOT FIT THAT DESCRIPTION BECAUSE THE THROTTLE BODY WAS MADE IN A DIFFERENT FACILITY AS THE OTHERS. THIS IS THE EXACT SAME ERROR AS THE KNOWN ISSUE BUT GENERAL MOTORS IS REFUSING TO TAKE ANY ACTION. THE LAST TIME THE DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER THE DEALER HAS STATED LOW FUEL VOLUME. THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ENGINE LIGHT COME ON THE SAME DAY USUALLY WITHIN AN HOUR OR TWO. THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD US TO TRY HI TEST ETHANOL FREE GAS. WE DID AS TOLD WITH A FUEL TREATMENT THEY PUT IN THE TANK. THE LIGHTS STILL CAME ON. MAJOR SAFTEY RISK: MY TRAVERSE WAS WELL MAINTAINED WAS OFTEN FILLED WITH SOCCER KIDS. THE SAFETY FAILURE COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY! WHILE DRIVING, THE AUTO BEGAN DISPLAYING THE FOLLOWING MESSAGES IN RAPID SUCCESSION: BATTERY SAVER ACTIVE, SERVICE BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRAK. I PARKED THE CAR TO DROP OF MY KIDS, THE CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN. AFTER A JUMP, I HEADED FOR THE DEALER WHICH WAS 4 MILES AWAY. OPERATIONS APPEARED OK INITIALLY. ON THE EXPRESSWAY, THE CAR ELECTRONICS WENT OUT. NOT JUST RADIO AND A/C, BUT ALL ELECTRICAL. I REALIZED THAT THE ENGINE WAS NO LONGER RUNNING WHILE IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFICE ON A CHICAGO EXPRESSWAY. NO HAZARDS, NO WAY TO LOWER WINDOWS, I WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY TO FIND A GAP IN THE TRAFFIC TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PARK. FROM THE SHOULDER OF THE EXPRESSWAY, CARS CONTINUED TO FLY PAST ME AT HIGH SPEED. THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY CHAOTIC AND DANGEROUS. I WAITED FOR AAA TO ARRIVE. AAA WAS FORCED TO TOW (MY TRAVERSE IS FRONT WHEEL DRIVE) RATHER THAN FLATBED BECAUSE WITHOUT ELECTRICITY WE THE CAR WAS STUCK IN PARK. AT THE CHEVY DEALER, THEY QUICKLY READ THE ERROR CODES AND PRESENTED ME WITH A $1,400 ESTIMATE TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR. SHARING MY FRUSTRATION AND POINTING OUT THAT THIS TYPE OF CATASTROPHIC FAILURE WAS WELL BEYOND ANY REASONABLE EXPECTATION OF A PRESUMABLY SAFE VEHICLE, THEY FOUND A WAY TO LOWER THE COST TO $607.
