The 2015 Chevy Traverse LTZ that I own is presenting with the same problems as many of its body style and year. The water intrusion has caused wiring to corrode in the side detection system & the drivers door wiring harness is presenting with open circuits. The LH side object module is throwing code U0233:00. They tested circuits at RH module. Found water intrusion in module, & corrosion on terminals & harness. Due to nature of location of modules, they recommend replacing LH & RH modules & harness. DTC B0085:05 current. Tested circuits & found open circuit internal to drivers door harness. Recommend replacing harness. The air bag code threw 2 days after I bought the veh 04/01/25, I attempted to contact the dealership I bought the vehicle from, AutoCredit in Hayden, ID, who admitted to the dangerous code being present, and that they were going to do nothing about it. Some time late April, my veh threw the code for side detection. On 05/27/25 I took my veh into Taylor & Sons Chevy in Ponderay, who dx my codes, and advised the above was needed. They also confirmed the fact that when that airbag code is present, that none of my airbags would deploy at time of impact if a collision occurred. This is a huge safety risk as much of my daily commute is on the hwy, and the influx of drivers in my area not familiar with the roads is increasing daily. My side detection system is a safety hazard as well due to the Traverse’s blind spots. Thank you for your time. I did not know what to do until I contacted Chevy directly who advised me to contact the NHTSA.

During a routine maintenance appointment with my mechanic, the airbag warning light illuminated on the dashboard immediately following service. I brought the vehicle to a dealership for diagnosis and was informed that the issue is due to a manufacturer-issued recall affecting the airbag system. However, I was also told that no replacement parts are currently available and there is no estimated date for when the defective component can be replaced. This creates a serious safety risk, as the vehicle may now be operating with a disabled or malfunctioning airbag system, which could fail to deploy in the event of a collision. I am forced to drive a vehicle that has been acknowledged as unsafe by the manufacturer and dealer, without remedy or safe alternative provided. The dealer confirmed the recall and the unavailability of parts, but has offered no loaner vehicle, reimbursement, or temporary resolution. I am requesting that NHTSA intervene to ensure that: The manufacturer remedies the safety defect in a timely manner. Affected drivers are provided with safe alternative transportation if parts are delayed. Accountability measures are enforced if harm results from known but unresolved recalls. Component/System for inspection: Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Warning lights/symptoms: The airbag indicator light turned on immediately after routine service. Dealer confirmed problem: Yes. Manufacturer informed: Indirectly, through dealer report. Police/Insurance involved: No.

I have contacted several dealers on multiple occasions about getting this repair done and nothing ever happens. They always say the airbag is on back order.

I am writing this reporting on the active NHTSA Recall Number 23V334, which includes my vehicle. As per the NHTSA's site, an online complaint can be filed if the manufacturer is unable to remedy this safety recall for the vehicle in a timely manner. The recall was issued on May 10, 2023. Today it is February 2, 2024, and is almost a year since the notice. This amount of time for a safety defect that could result in "injury or death to vehicle occupants" is completely unacceptable. Our family purchased this vehicle in 2015 after the birth of our 2nd child. We chose a Chevrolet Traverse because at the time, it had one of the highest safety ratings for an SUV on the market. This is the number one requirement we have when purchasing a vehicle, and we did so with our growing family in mind. Every single day, I navigate snowy, icy, treacherous roads in Alaska with my three young children - ages 6, 8, and 10, in the vehicle along with their friends . I also suffer from anxiety. The stress and anxiety that this recall has put on my life as it threatens my family on a daily basis is intolerable and needs to be resolved. We have discussed selling the vehicle to purchase something safer as we continue to wait on the resolution, but we will be unable to sell the vehicle to a dealer due to the recall. Additionally, we refuse to sell to another family or driver due to the ethical issues that would arise with this. We also would face a significant financial shortfall by not receiving the necessary return on investment of our purchase due to this defect. I understand that there need to be parts available for the remedy, but given the scope of this issue, all further manufacturing of airbags or focus on other issues should be put on hold until the parts are manufactured to resolve this safety issue. As an oversight body, please put pressure on GM to resolve this issue immediately, and allow families to go back to living their fullest lives without fear of death.

My vehicle has an open recall and manufacturer is unable to remedy this safety recall in a timely manner. I called many dealerships and there’s no part available to fix that issue. I’d like to get that information rid of records, because I’m trying to list my car for rent on Turo. Thanks

The recall for the airbag inflator still has not been remedied for my vehicle. This is for NHTSA 23V334. Date Issued: 2023-05-10. It has almost been a year at this point and I fear the safety of my family due to the description of the recall: Safety Risk Description "An inflator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle interior, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants." Is there a timeframe on when this will be remedied. The duration of time that has passed already seems pretty excessive for not even having a solution to the problem.

Below is the description of what has happened...... Product Safety Recall - Driver Front Airbag Inflator May Rupture One of the front airbag inflators in my vehicle was produced by Takata. Takata has advised the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that without a chemical drying agent, prolonged exposure to heat and humidity can degrade the chemical propellant used in this airbag inflator. In time, if the propellant degrades to a certain level, the inflator may rupture when the airbag deploys during a crash event. If this happens, sharp metal fragments could pass through the airbag, striking you or your loved ones, causing serious or fatal injuries. Answers to your general guideline questions (see below) 1. It is available for inspection at any time. 2. The safety issue putting my husband, daughter, son-in-law, twin granddaughters, friends and myself at risk are the defective airbags with serious to fatal injuries. 3. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by NHTSA, Takata, GM and a Chevrolet dealer. 4. No individual from NHTSA, Takata, GM or a Chevrolet dealer have asked to investigate my vehicle, but they all have advised it is on recall. I've also been advised the parts are not available for the recall repair and no one has an answer to when that will be. 5. My best assessment of the situation is every time I drive my vehicle I am putting myself, my beloved family and friends at risk of serious to fatal injuries and the cause of this is my recalled vehicle has not been repaired due to the fact no parts to repair it are available now or I'm guessing in the near future. GM describes it as an urgent safety recall and yet there has been no urgency in resolving the issues for serious and fatal injuries.

My name is [XXX] and I live in Plainsboro NJ. I own a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse. I received a letter from General Motors letting me know about a recall in June (attached). The letter states that it is a Safety Recall having to do with the driver side airbag which may contain a supplier manufacturing defect that may result in an inflator rupture during deployment. It goes on to say that the inflator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle which may result in injury or death. I contacted our dealer Ciocca Chevrolet of Princeton and told them I received this recall letter. They said they did not have the parts, but when the parts came in, I would be notified. I called the number on the recall letter to ask when the parts would come in and they told me I would be notified. Since June I have reached out to both GM and the Dealership and both continue to say they will notify me when the parts came in. It is now four months and GM continues to tell me that they don't know when the parts are coming in. I have been driving an unsafe car. GM says they are not loaning cars or providing rentals for this recall. I find this unacceptable and need help getting this resolved. Please respond to this email as soon as possible. I have been very lucky till now that nothing has happened and I continue to pray that nothing will happen. However, I do not have another choice but risk of driving my car on a daily basis since I need to drive to work. Safety of my wife and 5 children are at risk every time they get in our family vehicle.

Nov 1, 2023

I have been in contact with GM to find a remedy since they do not have a repair option for my vehicle yet. My car now is displaying the service airbag warning light, and I cannot get any service department to take a look at this to make sure it’s safe to be driving without paying a $260 diagnostic fee. I am a single mom, I do not have an extra $260 to pay without knowing if it’s something they can fix. GM has offered no solution or assistance in fixing this situation.

Oct 31, 2023

My name is [XXX] and I live in Plainsboro NJ. I own a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse. I received a letter from General Motors letting me know about a recall in June (attached). The letter states that GM has a Safety Recall having to do with the driver side airbag which may contain a supplier manufacturing defect that may result in the inflator rupturing during deployment. It goes on to say that the inflator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle which may result in injury or death. I contacted our dealer Ciocca Chevrolet of Princeton and told them I received this recall letter. They said they did not have the parts, but I would be notified when the parts came in. I called GM using the number on the recall letter to ask when the parts would come in and they told me I would be notified. Since June I have reached out to both GM and the Dealership a couple of times and both have stated that I would be notified when the parts came in. It has now been four months and the GM continues to tell me that they don't know when the parts are coming in. I have been driving an unsafe car. GM says they are not loaning cars or providing rentals for this recall. I find this unacceptable and need help getting this resolved. I called the NHTSA number 888-327-4236 and Hanitsa who I spoke to stated that you can not force GM to provide a loaner or a rental and I have to decide whether or not I should be driving the car. I do not have a choice but to take the risk of drive my car everyday since I have to go to work. I have been very lucky that nothing has happened and I continue to pray that nothing will happen but i should not be in this position. I am asking that GM provide me with a loaner or rental until they get the parts to fix my car. Please respond to this email as soon as possible, I am looking forward to hearing from you with a resolution. Thanks, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I called GM about my recall under 23V334. I spoke to GM customer care and my local dealer and both quoted me 5-10yrs for my vehicle to be fixed.

Jul 1, 2023

I have contact the dealership regarding the recal and they dont have the piece to be able to fix the air bag and that they will call me when they get a piece. It’s been a whole month since this recal notice was sent to me. The sales associate stated it was a probability that my car was within the defective bunch but their unable to know with certainty. They expect me to keep driving this vehicle risking my two 3 year old toddler’s life on a probability. The probability of my car being within the defective ones is a 50% chance but it’s a chance im not willing to take. Nobody is able to give me a solution. Im not risking my children’s life because of a manufacturer’s error. I need a solution ASAP or I will have to take legal action because this is ridiculous. They don’t care because it isn’t their life nor their children at risk. They are leaving it to fate and God that my vehicle isn’t defective and I just have to cross my fingers every time I leave my home wondering if I’ll return. This isn’t meant to be dramatic, but put yourself in my place a mother of small children that are at risk every time they get into my vehicle trusting the air bag will safe my life but apparently it could kill me.

Received recall N232404980 regarding driver side airbag defect that may cause injury or death if the airbag is deployed and the inflator ruptures. Currently, parts are not available to repair the airbag and eliminate the safety hazard. Also, there is no estimated date when the repair parts will be available. There is no "stop use" of the vehicle. However, I was cautioned by the local dealer service department to avoid getting into an accident that will cause the airbag to deploy. (???) GM has no temporary fix or "work around" to minimize this safety hazard for those vehicles that remain in service (e.g. disable the airbag to prevent deployment, loaner vehicle or vehicle rental reimbursement). Is this GM's way of telling me that driving my vehicle at this time puts me at higher risk than normal???

The service airbag light comes on often. The connection for the airbag equipment under both the driver and passenger seats has had to be re-wired 3 times. Tech stated that the connection has failed, and they spliced the wires together. This continues to happen when the seat is moved. Moving the wire harness causes the service light to go out.

When driving during rain, the ABS light came on due to wet conditions and reduced my driving speed ability, and created difficulty for traffic and for my family on the highway. This of which made me have to pull off to the side of the road and try to travel 40 minutes to a safe destination at a very slow speed while my vehicle was difficult to drive. Once parked overnight at a hotel it was okay to drive but created a very dangerous situation on the roadways. I wasn't sure that I could drive it in the morning and was hundreds of miles from home. Another situation is when my LED dash lights go out or become nearly invisible. I can't read anything on the dashboard that displays mileage or anything else. Can make it difficult for driving and safety concerns. Also, my blind spot detection quit working and has caused problems detecting cars and anything else while driving or backing up. Another issue is my side airbag came open by itself but has not launched (thankfully). I cannot repair it on my own. These are expensive issues. I had already replaced all of my tires due to the tires that had been on it kept going flat and the sensors stopped working.

Apr 3, 2023

All I did was take it to get new rear calipers and an alignment and when I left the shop I got a light on the dashboard that says service traction control service stabilitrak and sometimes the abs goes on and off and sometimes the airbag light comes on and turns off. I can't drive over 1.5rpm and it's jumping when trying to accelerate. I'm not getting codes. I changed the brake pedal sensor to see if that works but no. Mechanic can't seem to figure out the issue without me spending more and more money on it. I've only had it roughly a year and half. I've put alot of money into this vehichle.

Service air bag light came on upon starting the vehicle.

Nov 4, 2021

Air bag on right side is off, Vehicle front dash has the air bag needs to be serviced. this started as of the 1st month of purchased, took to dealership and they could not duplicated the problem. The air bag would go off and off from time to time, but by the time I had my appointment at the dealership it would go back on. Now I am out of warranty and the light is always red that the air bag on the right side is off. I noticed that when we would close the back of the vehicle after placing groceries the light would go off and when closing again it would go off. Now it is always on indicating that the right air bag is not on.
