Nothing has happened currently but I have reported this issue to have it serviced and was told that since the status is stuck in limbo there is nothing I can do, this isn’t safe for me nor my family taking that risk every day as a every day driver.
I have been given multiple warnings about a recall on the airbags for almost a year now. The recall claims that if the airbags go off, metal shards could fly out and could kill me. They say to go to a service center and have it repaired immediately. I have called several service centers and GM twice, and all they can tell me is that the parts are not available, and I will be notified when they are. IT'S BEEN A YEAR!!!!! I guess they are waiting for people to die before they will do anything. I do not feel safe driving my car and am considering getting rid of it for my own safety, and I will NEVER buy another Chevrolet if they cannot assure that their vehicles are safe.

As of 10May2023 the Driver Front Airbag Inflator May Rupture and could cause death to occupants of the car. All in my car are at risk for metal parts flying in the cabin of the SUV if the airbag inflator ruptures. This could cause death per recall notice. I called all the dealers near me and GM no one can get the parts to fix this potentially life threatening defect. Please help them get the parts for fix my SUV. I am really not comfortable driving knowing my airbag could kill all in my car. No warning signs for this, but there would not be. I gained knowledge of this from the manufactures notice. Please help Rudy from Lester Glenn Chevrolet of Freehold NJ 18334350597 get the part for my 2016 Traverse, if possible by Saturday. Thanks

It is not safe for me to drive this SUV. After one year of visiting the Chevrolet car dealer, calling them many times and trying my best to get them to help me with this Takata airbag problem (since I got the recall notice); GM said they don't have the part. They also said they don't have another vehicle to give me until they get it fixed. We are very disappointed and we feel unsafe, my family members and I.

Concerned that the airbag recall has been a known death threat for over a year with still no replacement parts. If the parts can't be procured I should be provided a new equivalent car, shouldn't I? It's anxiety inducing to know I could be killed by supposed safety features in my vehicle.

Been over a year and there is still no parts to fix this open safety recall.
It has been a year since the recall on my vehicle with no remedy to the fix that needs to occur. Having a vehicle with an airbag the could cause more harm when in an accident isn't exactly safe to drive. I would like to know when this remedy will be completed due to the fact that I will also be having a teen driver soon and don't feel safe with her driving my car with this airbag defect.

WE HAVE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO GET A NEW AIRBAG INSTALLED. IN FACT, WE HAD AN EARLY MORNING APPOINTMENT WITH CONCORD CHEVROLET TO HAVE NEW AIRBAGS INSTALLED THAT WERE RECALLED. SOUNDS DANGEROUS TO US IF WE SHOULD BE IN AN ACCIDENT THAT THEY WOULD FIRE METAL PARTS AT US RISKING OUR LIVES. MY HUSBAND TOOK THE CAR IN AS PROMISED, AND WHEN HE GOT THERE THEY SAID THEY DIDIN'T HAVE THE REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS. WHAT IS GOING ON? IT'S BEEN MONTHS NOW. WE DRIVE THE CAR AND PRAY THAT WE DON' GET IIN AN ACCIDENT NEEDING AIRBAGS. CHEVROLET HAS GOT TO FURNISH THEM SOON! NO MORE WAITING AROUND. IS THERE ANY OTHER PLACE WHERE WE CAN FIND THEM???
I received a recall notice dated June 2023 regarding the front driver airbag inflator. It may contain a defect resulting in inflator rupture during deployment. An inflator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle interior which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants. To date, there is no remedy. I find that unacceptable.
Still waiting for a resolution to the recall notice.

I wonder how long this unrepaired faulty air bag will take to get replaced? I read in the possible outcomes of a faulty airbag & it says flying metal can be FATAL. How long is the government going to let this go on? The NHTSA should put a stop build order on all new vehicles until they make repairs to the ones that are in the field waiting for recall parts. If you think GM gives a shit about what is in the field, you are sadly mistaken. I demand that our government get involved and start making GM get the parts & repair this recalled defect.

My safety or the safety of others are at significant risk everyday this vehicle remains unsafe with no remedy available. The safety recall was issued in May of 2023. It is now January of 2024 and I am driving a vehicle with airbags that may discharge shrapnel that can and will result in injury or death to myself and any vehicle occupants. This is unacceptable. Airbag remedies are not new, they are run of the mill at this point. What is the problem with making these cars safe to drive?

After receiving notice for GM safety recall N232404980 in June 2023, and checking periodically, the recall status on 1/6/24 continues to be “remedy not available”. I am not satisfied that GM done their best to remedy the condition within a reasonable time.

Vehicle recall in May 2023 for 2016 Chevrolet Traverse (GM recall # N232404980 - NHTSA 23V334) for exploding driver airbag inflator causing metal shrapnel to fly into the cabin. Letters from General Motors should have been sent by June 26, 2023. To date I have not received a letter or instructions on how to remedy situation. Multiple local Chevrolet dealerships have been contacted (Stonebriar Chevrolet, Frisco, Texas and Classic Chevrolet, Grapevine, Texas), both dealerships have stated that General Motors has not created a fix for this dangerous issue to date. Public records also indicate a repair has not been created.

Air bag is at risk of rupture, causing injury or death. Letter was sent to us in June, and it's October with no remedy. We are about to head into winter with an unsafe vehicle. Plus after inquiring about trading it in at the dealership, we were told they could not give us a normal trade in value because it was considered not safe to sell with no remedy in sight. If it's not safe to sell, why are we being told to keep on driving these vehicles?

The transmission blew while I was driving down the highway and my car dash was flashing transmission hot and My car would no longer move. It was smoking and leaked fluids everywhere. I was scared to death it was gonna catch fire but thankfully it didn’t. I don’t k it if the safety recall has anything to do with it but Larry Spacc has literally had my car at his shop waiting to be repaired since August!
Airbag recall is taking a really long time I have 5 children that have to ride in my 2016 traverse with an active airbag recall that states the inflator could shoot shrapnel into the cabin where my kids are at. I'd like for my kids to be safe while riding in my vehicle. How much longer is general motors going to take to get this issue fixed. It's been almost 6 months since the recall was issued. I've very upset about this.

Chevy said they have no idea when they will have a fix and no other suggestions on how to make sure I can have a safe car to drive back and forth to work.
I received a safety recall letter today for this vehicle stating that if not repaired, it could result in the death of the vehicle occupants… my wife and 3 daughters use this car daily for transportation and after contacting Chevrolet customer service and waiting on the phone for over 40min and speaking with multiple people, all they could tell me is they don’t know when they’ll be able to repair the vehicle and they have no other remedies available (replacement, reimbursement, rental, etc…). This is incredibly concerning as we don’t have another option right now, so according to GM, my only options are to risk the lives of my entire family every day for some indeterminate amount of time or I need to pay for a new vehicle until or unless GM eventually fixes the issue, or I just need to go without a vehicle now… This is completely unacceptable and needs attention immediately. I understand needing to wait or not know a timeline for minor recalls or non-life threatening issues, but it states right in the recall that it can result in death to the vehicle occupants (not even just the driver…). I need help ASAP and GM is unwilling to provide it.

Air bag recall- stated(Direct Quote from notice): “An inflator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle interior, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants” With such recall the safety and lives of myself and passengers are at risk every time the vehicle is driven. Safety recall letter/notice has a date of June 2023, sent in a first class mail envelope with no postmark date. This letter was not received until until Saturday July 1st 2023. During the time from recall issue (May 10,2023) my family and I were at risk of death or serious injury everyday. This recall has been confirmed for our VIN number by GM, our dealership, and this website. There is no remedy(repair part) at this time and there is no timeline for it. GM is not providing a safe option for my family to be able to do our daily tasks. As well as the ability to attend a funeral out of state for a family patriarch without personal costs for their negligence in safety. Our dealership is at the mercy of GM to be able to provide a vehicle without a safety recall. This has put an undue hardship and burden on my family.

In these vehicles, the front-driver airbag inflator may contain a supplier manufacturing defect that may result in inflator rupture during deployment. Safety Risk An inflator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle interior, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants. I reached out to GM to see what options I had/if it's safe for me to drive the car and the rep I spoke with told me the car is NOT safe to drive and if the airbag deploys it could cause death. I asked when would a fix be available and she said there isn't a fix and we don't know when one will be available. I called my local dealerships to see if they had any ideas as to what I should do and they said they don't have any suggestions it could be 6 months or more until they have parts in to fix your car. My wife and I both have jobs in separate directions and need two cars so we can get to work. I asked if they could provide us with a rental car since they deemed my car unsafe and said I could die driving and the agent I spoke with said GM wont provide us a car but she will escalate my case and i will here from someone in 4 days with an update. well here is 4 days and i get a call saying no one has picked up my case and I probably wont here anything until next week. I am very concerned for my safety and anyone who owns a car with this issue.

Campaign ID is 23V334. I received recall letter from GM but parts are not available and letter does not state when they will be available. Vehicle has not been driven since read of recall in media in May. Recall stated that rupture of airbag could result in death which with that risk effectively prevents vehicle from being driven. Unacceptable.

I read about the airbag recall for our 2016 Chevy Traverse and confirmed or vehicle is affected.. I contacted GM and was advised not to drive the vehicle but that no remedy was in place at this time. I called 3 local dealers, none of whom would provide a loaner vehicle until a fix is available. This is our only vehicle and we are gambling with our life if we drive it.

Blind spot side detection modules failed due to water intrusion / corrosion (known design defect). As a result, the computer system shorted out, which caused the computer to go into a type of fault mode. While we driving down the road, the blinkers stopped working, the gauges (including speedometer) stopped working, the screens turned off, and the airbag and tire pressure warning lights activated. This is a known issue, according to the dealer repair department. A basic Google search indicates that many people are having this problem. This is a big safety issue because all of these things happened spontaneously while we were driving the vehicle. Repairing the faulty blind spot side detection modules fixes the problem--a $1,900 repair bill. GM should be made to recall these vehicles. GM should be made to reimburse customers for these repairs.
The contact's mother owns a 2016 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that as the vehicle was making a left turn at approximately 10 MPH, and entering a side street, the vehicle was crashed into by an ambulance that was not on call. The vehicle was struck on the passenger side door. From the force of the impact, the vehicle was spun to the left, and into a utility pole, and crashed the rear end. The side passenger door and the rear end were crushed from the impact. The passenger door damage had been rated by the police report as a "7" and the damage to the rear was rated as a "2". The ambulance went off of the roadway down a ditch and into a large pond. Both vehicles were undrivable and had to be towed from the scene. The contact's mother and her stepfather were transported by ambulance to a hospital. The driver and 2 passengers of the ambulance were also transported by ambulance to a hospital and later released. The contact's mother was taken by ambulance to a trauma center and the stepfather was airlifted to the same trauma center. The stepfather died at the trauma center's ICU from blunt force trauma to his head. The mother had head injuries that were not severe, however she had suffered a broken neck termed a "hang man's fracture," she had also suffered three breaks to her back. The mother had suffered broken ribs on the right side "2 through 12" and the left side ribs "2 through 11," the mother had a broken rib that penetrated her diaphragm and punctured her liver. The car was broadsided on Interstate 40 Westbound outside of Knoxville, TN on 3-12-22 by a Tractor Trailer and totaled. The airbags did not deploy allowing the driver to hit her head on the window of the vehicle causing her head trauma. In Oct of 2021 The same vehicle hit a 200 pound dear head on at 65mph and destroyed the front end and the air bags did not deploy then either.
MY SIDE DETECTION MODULES WENT. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT GET ME IN FOR 3 WEEKS. 3 WEEKS LATER I HAVE NO ELECTRICAL POWER INCLUDING SPORADIC HEADLIGHTS, AND BLINKERS. I HAVE NO AIR BAGS. THE PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER. NOW ITS BEEN 6 WEEKS NOW. I DECIDE TO CALL CHEVROLET CUSTOMER CARE. I WAS TOLD SINCE I AM OUT OF WARRANTY THEY CAN DO NOTHING FOR ME. THAT I SHOULD GO RENT A CAR OUT OF MY OWN POCKET TILL THE PARTS COME IN SOMEDAY. THEY DO NOT CARE IF I AM SAFE SINCE I HAVE NO WARRANTY?!?!?! THIS SIDE DETECTION MODULE IS A DANGER AND A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AND CHEVROLET SHOULD BE OFFERING EVERYONE INVOLVED A RENT A CAR TILL THEY CAN FIX THE ISSUE. ITS A GREAT FEELING TO KNOW CHEVROLET DOESN'T CARE AT ALL ABOUT YOUR SAFETY!!!

12/21/16 FIRST, I PULLED OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY GO ABOUT 1-2 MILES AN HOUR FOR SEVERAL BLOCKS...PULLED OVER AND PUT IN PARK AND REVVED THE ENGINE A LITTLE AND PULLED OUT AGAIN. IT STILL WOULDN'T ACCELERATE AT FIRST, THEN GRADUALLY PICKED UP SPEED AND RODE THE REMAINDER WITHOUT INCIDENT. ON 12/22/16, ONE SECOND I WAS PARKING MY CAR IN FRONT OF THE STORE I WORK AT, AND WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY STOPPED WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD INTO THE BRICK WALL OF THE BUILDING. THE AIRBAG IN THE STEERING COLUMN DEPLOYED. THE CAR BOUNCED BACK AND SHUT DOWN I THINK). I REACHED UP AND TURNED THE KEY OFF & L OPENED THE DOOR & THE RADIATOR WAS LEAKING ONTO THE LOT.. MY KNEES WERE HURTING REALLY BAD, BOTH MY HANDS WERE SORE AND MY LEFT ARM. THE CAR FRONT WAS ALL DAMAGED WITH PART OF THE FENDER ON THE SIDEWALK. WE CALLED MY HUSBAND TO COME AND TAKE ME TO GET CHECKED OUT BECAUSE I THOUGHT I MIGHT HAVE CRACKED BOTH MY KNEECAPS. WE CONTACTED OUR INSURANCE COMPANY AND THEY TOLD US TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO OUR PREFERRED BODY SHOP, WHICH WE DID. THE DR X-RAYED MY KNEES AND DETERMINED THEY WERE NOT BROKEN, JUST BADLY BRUISED. ON DEC 26TH, I WENT BACK TO THE DR BECAUSE I STARTED HAVING SOME PAIN IN MY NECK/SHOULDER AND THEY DID NUMEROUS TESTS, FINDING WHAT THEY THOUGHT WAS A FRACTURE IN MY NECK. I HAD TO WEAR A BRACE ON IT FOR A WEEK, THEN MORE TESTING DETERMINED THAT WHAT THEY SAW WAS ACTUALLY A PREVIOUS INJURY THAT HAD NEVER BEEN CAUGHT. I NEED PHYSICAL THERAPY ON THE NECK ISSUE. I HAVE SINCE FOUND THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS OF THESE CARS SUDDENLY LURCHING FORWARD WHEN THE BRAKE IS APPLIED, OVER A SPAN OF 7 YEARS. I AM NOT ONLY THANKFUL I WASN'T INJURED WORSE, BUT THAT THERE WASN'T A PERSON IN FRONT OF ME WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN AND THE OUTCOME COULD BE MUCH WORSE. *TR

UNEXPECTED NOTICE OF A SERVICE WARNING LIGHT THAT SUDDENLY APPEARED ON MY WIFE'S TRAVERSE AFTER DRIVING FOR 2 WEEKS..... [XXX] AND I PURCHASED A DEMO TRAVERSE WITH 4000 MILES , AT A FT PIERCE CHEVROLET LOCATION RECENTLY... WE WENT ON A TWO WEEK TRIP TO HAWAII AND RETURNED THIS PAST WEEK ,AS WE STARTED THE CAR , UPON OUR RETURN, MY WIFE EXCLAIMED ; I HAVE A WARNING AIRBAG NOTICE LIGHT ON.... SO I THOUGHT ! ,( MAYBE IT WAS THE FACT I HADN'T BUCKLED MY SEAT BELT YET, AS I ENTERED THE STARTED CAR, MAYBE MY SEAT WASN'T FUNCTION RIGHT OR SOMETHING)..... I HAD HER TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART IT. CONTINUALLY , (THROUGHOUT THE DAY YESTERDAY), AS WE TRAVELED AROUND, DOING CHRISTMAS SHOPPING, THIS WARNING REAPPEARED EACH TIME WE STOPPED , GOT OUT TO SHOP AND RETURN TO START THE TRAVERSE.. WHEN I RETURNED HOME, I GOOGLE THE MEANING OF THIS WARNING, WHAT WAS IT CAUSES, WHAT IT ENTAILED / HOW TO REMEDY THIS WARNING AND MY STARTLED AND DISMAYED AS THE SEARCH RESULTS POPPED UP.... CHEVROLET WAS AWARE OF THE DESIGN DEFECT IN THE TRAVERSE VEHICLES, BUT DID NOT WARN US OR OTHER CONSUMERS PRIOR TO PURCHASING. THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS CAUSES SAFETY CONCERNS AND DIMINISHES THE RESALE VALUE OF THIS VEHICLE ,THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS IN THE TRAVERSE MAY CAUSE UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS AND FINANCIAL BURDEN TO US AS OWNERS. AS NOTED IGNORING THE ACTIVE SERVICE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WILL EVENTUALLY RESULT IN THE NON-DEPLOYMENT OF THE SIDE IMPACT RESTRAINTS, WHICH INCLUDE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT-MOUNTED SIDE AIR BAGS, FRONT CENTER AIR BAG (IF EQUIPPED), AND THE SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONERS. SEEMS THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN A RECURRING MODEL ISSUE SINCE 2010.. I'M NOT HAPPY AND HOPE THE DEALERSHIP IS ABLE TO REMEDY THIS ISSUE, FOR HER , IN A TIMELY MANNER , BUT I STILL NEEDED TO POST A NOTICE TO THIS SITE..... INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
