Hello this particular vehicle often gives us a message stating that side detection is temporarily unavailable and the main issue is the transmission seems to have severe shufdering issues and sometimes gives a shift to park message ive read others having this same issue being recalled but my vin is not listed! The car is available upon request for any inspections necessary

Park to shift keeps popping up on dash while driving. Vehicle will not recognise when in park at times to allow vehicle to be shut off properly. The stability track warning pops up on dash now as well. The check emits comes on with codes for all going back to transmission control module system and when replaced spark plugs we found that the PCV (cam cvr to turbo) tube was cracked all the way through where the hard plastic meets metal on the part and had to replace it. This is all after multiple failed parts that had to be replaced dealing with the ac unit and it’s lines. Today is the second time in two weeks that the vehicle has been in operational mode in the middle of a foward motion driving at the time. Luckily this time I was in a housing area and not a major street or on the loop 360 when it decided to stop driving while in motion in drive.

Transmission issues since 85k miles, park to shift sensor error since owned, rear ideoendent suspension bolts were stripped needed alignment. Car has not performed since ownership.

My vehicle has had the issue of putting the car in park and it says it is not it park, have to wiggle the gear shift around for it to recognize that the car is fully in park. Now the transmission will not go in to reverse. The R on the dashboard is blinking. Yes, it is available for inspection.

Nov 19, 2025

Shift to park errors over multiple years, shutter when accelerating. Now pressure control solenoid code vehicle will not go in reverse or shift out of first gear. Transmission needs replacement. This is my family vehicle, i have 3 small children and it has turned off at stop lights etc. My families safety has been jeopardized many times driving this vehicle, especially the last time in particular. The vehicle stopped engaging in reverse and then in first would accelarate by itself on the way home from my 8 year olds baseball game.

i am getting a shift to park error code on dashboard. The shifter gear is in park but the vehicle will not turn off. I have called the dealer several times and they are told the problem but eventually they hang up on me. There seems to be a class action suit out for the issue but no recall. I would like to see recall because this is a serious safety issue. One if the vehicle does not completely turn off and you are not aware of the issue then your battery can run out. If you are in a urban/remote area which I am no dealerships for about 50 miles away can be a serious problem being stranded on the I 15 freeway. When you put the vehicle in park sometimes it pops out of gear too. There were no previous warnings prior to the shift to park dash indicator. I am not a rich person. My vehicle just has over 72,000 miles. This should be covered by a recall. Please help.

Exhaust weld broken (several times) same as “special coverage adjustment n212356540 front exhaust pipe”. This is a well known problem but gm refuses to fix 2018s which has the same exact problem and components. Chevy “fixed” it once and the weld broke a month later. This problem has been happening on and off for years and I am finally writing to you so that the word gets out. Gm is taking advantage of people

Vibrations/shaking when driving. Took vehicle to a mechanic and the entire transmission needs to be replaced. I researched online and this is a common issue for the 2018 model. There where several transmission related recalls but my vehicle was not included in any of the recalls.

Oct 22, 2025

For the past few months now my 2018 Chevy Traverse has had a weird shimmy when changing lower gears. Got it looked at and they said one of the 9 clutches are going out and needs to be replaced for a total of $6664.63. After doing my own research, this is a common problem with the 2018 Chevy Traverse after reading all the complaints on Social Media and a few Chevy enthusiasts websites. I’ve called the dealership and they refuse to help out at all with the pricing or do anything without a recall issued. If I’d had to calculate the amount of cars effected that already had work done and cars that haven’t had work done yet due to the insane cost, I’d say at least 30-40% of these vehicles have these issues right now that people know about or have already had fixed. The transmission place I sent our vehicle to said he does work on all these Chevys constantly with the same issue. I tried to call corporate and they gave me this site to go ahead and log a safety concern about this problem because it truly is a safety concern. The constant shim and rough feel when switching between lower gears makes it difficult when needing to pull out into traffic unless your lucky enough to get no traffic in your lane. I’ve also noted the start stop problem when it starts back up at a red light it sometimes has issues shifting in between 2nd, 3rd, & 4th gear like it doesn’t want to do it in that order. Feels more like it wants to skip 2nd and 3rd gear which may be fine but it definitely has a shimmy/ grinding feeling. Not sure if the transmission clutch can cause all these problems but after witnessing these issues, I’m definitely rethinking purchasing Silverado 2500’s for my family owned plumbing business. Thank you and hopefully this helps.

I purchased a 2018 Chevy Traverse with 6 miles on it. I keep my vehicle in mint condition and maintenance as needed and required. Recently in the past few months my car has been bucking when shifting gear engages in an automatic transmission. I took to dealership, and they stated it was the torque converter, and my vehicle has exactly 20,270 miles only. Not even passed the 36,000 marks but over 36 months. I bought an extended warranty thru Dealership which now sending someone to dealership to verify that this is infact a torque problem which were found 2017 and 2019 but not 2018 is hard to believe. They will be keeping it for 7 days and already had a recall for 2017 and 2019 so are they stating it only occurred in those years, and they fix the 2017 but then it skipped 2018 and jumped to 2019. Why have I not received any recalls since I buy most of the GMC vehicles and lived in the same home for 35 years. Its awfully strange that I never receive any recalls when I owned Silverado truck, Savana High Top Van with special needs lift, Pontiac Torrent, Chevy Traverse. The warning lane change or the blindspot warning shut off too. Was told to wash the window on the front and on the camera back and did not clear the sensors. Was told to check transmission fluid and it was fine and I do oil changes since my dad taught us every 2500 -3000 depending on driving and if only little mileage check it anyway monthly with the dip stick. Like I stated I keep my car in mint condition and safety is number one issue in family due to the special needs son riding in it.

Sep 30, 2025

The vehicle was struggling to pick up the gears and stalled in the road. After having it checked at the Chevy dealer stated it was the Transmission that needed to be replaced. The vehicle is unable to reverse due the the transmission issue. Unable to drive. There is no active recall for this issue which is concerning, considering I've read multiple drivers have the same issue with the 2018 Chevy traverse.

Sep 30, 2025

My car has twice been fixed with this shift to park message and now it is in the shop once again to be fixed!! And this has also had the torque converter fixed twice now. And it is still doing the same issues. This needs to be something that Chevy is replacing. I am a single mother and can’t afford all these problems and yet I keep having to make a car payment and get these things fixed.

Sep 29, 2025

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that the "Shift to Park" message was displayed. The message was displayed after shifting into park(P). The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. However, the dealer informed the contact that the issue was a known issue, requiring that the wiring harness and shifter needed to be replaced. There was no diagnostic code was detected on the OnStar App. The failure occurred intermittently, but during the most recent failure, the vehicle continued to roll after being shifted into park(P). The contact quickly shifted into reverse and engaged the parking brake, and the vehicle lost power without being turned off. The vehicle became inoperable and could not be unlocked. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for additional examination. The manufacturer was not informed about the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Sep 28, 2025

MAF sensor went bad on my 18 to traverse. I was told not to change the sensor that it was the manifold. Two days later I'm being told that my transmission is bad. I am in process now if getting it rebuilt. Needless to say I'm out a lot of money.

Sep 25, 2025

Each time I drive the vehicle, the transmission has a shudder to where it almost stops pulling. To me, this could cause an accident due to it failing when in heavy traffic. These transmission issues on these vehicles need to be recalled and corrected before someone gets hurt or possibly killed.

Sep 18, 2025

I’ve had this vehicle for about a year or less the car ran fine with minor problems that come with having a vehicle. Up until last week the car never showed any signs of a failing transmission, it went from running fine to shuttering and suddenly I wasn’t able to reverse. The check engine light never came on, I’ve did all my routine checks and more with the dealership I bought it from and was never told anything when the vehicle was brought in for inspections.

Sep 16, 2025

Vehicle displays Shift to Park message and audible tone after arriving at destination and attempting to turn off vehicle. Shifter indicates the vehicle is in Park and the transmission gears display on main screen also indicates the vehicle is in Park; however the warning message and audible continue to occur. Numerous attempts to move shifter through the different positions P-D1 are required to get the warning message to clear and the audible tone to stop. It has rapidly gotten worse in a matter of two weeks and I’m concerned that it will continue to get worse until I am no longer able to clear it leading to a dead battery, as well as other potential powertrain problems. A recent class action settlement unfortunately does not provide any relief to me for this known safety issue which already has a large number of NHTSA complaints filed pertaining to this powertrain issue. Given the number of complaints filed, I would urge NHTSA to force GM to issue a recall for this safety issue.

Sep 11, 2025

When my car is shift into Park and I tried to turn it off it’s giving me a “Shift to Park” message and the car continue to idle when it is turned off. I changed gears to try and take it off Park and then put back into Park and the same message occurs and it would not turn off car. After multiple attempts it finally turned it off. This has become more and more frequent. I cannot leave the car if it is not properly in park, still running with the warning bell beeping.

Sep 11, 2025

The transmission is slipping which caused the converter to go out in the transmission.

Sep 9, 2025

Frequent symptom is an "Action Required: Shift to Park" message on the dashboard. Which is preventing my vehicle from shutting down properly, and causing the battery to drain, and hinder my car's ability to start in addition to getting trapped in the vehicle because the vehicles fail to shift to the ‘Park’ position preventing me from being able to exit the vehicle. This is a known issue affecting various GM models which one being my 2018 traverse by GM but not willing to make official recall of the issue. There is a class action settlement due to this issue that was not privileged to me as an owner of a used vehicle included in this notice and have.

Sep 7, 2025

When car is parked and tried to turn off it’s giving me a “shift to park” and it won’t turn off the car. I changed gears to try and take it off park and then put back in park and same message and it would not turn off car. After multiple attempts it finally turned it off.

My 2018 Chevrolet Traverse, has unresolved safety defects that endanger occupants and other road users. These include transmission failure with loss of acceleration, “Shift‑to‑Park” malfunctions preventing engine shut‑off, inoperative blind‑spot/cross‑traffic sensors, faulty tire pressure monitoring, and an active oil leak from the timing gasket cover. These issues occur unpredictably during normal driving and parking, creating an immediate risk of collision, roll‑away, or engine fire. All of these issued happened within a very short time frame. June 2025 and I took my car into Crews Chevy, they want over $15,000 to repair. All of these items I have mentioned have numerous class action lawsuits (that they have won) for the year of my vehicle. I have spoken with GM (and have a case number) however, they are unwilling to repair, at no cost to me. I have an [XXX] daughter and work 7 days a week. I have been with out a car since [XXX] due to these issues. I do have the estimate for the repairs if needed. I do not have an actual repair invoice, as I wasn't able to afford the over $15,000 repairs. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while attempting to park the vehicle, the gear shift selector was shifted to park(P), and the message "Shift to Park" was displayed, and the contact was unable to turn off the vehicle. The contact stated that after shifting to park several times, the failure self-corrected. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact indicated that the vehicle had previously been repaired for the same failure. No further information was available. The failure mileage was 84,000.

Aug 13, 2025

The vehicle has a design flaw which causes a bracket which connects the 2 pipes which connect to the catalytic converter to fail. Once the bracket has failed, the rear catalytic converter is allowed to vibrate more than designed, adding extra stress to the catalytic converter. Over time, this additional stress causes the catalytic converter to fail, releasing harmful gases directly from the engine exhaust manifold with carbon monoxide and other harmful gases into the air and into the passenger compartment of the vehicle. This is a know issue that GM has recalled on the 2019 (recall N212356540) and 2021 (recall N222385510) model year Traverse. Other years may have also been recalled that I am not aware of. For some reason, GM has neglected to take ownership of this issue on the 2018 Traverse which shares the same design as both the 2019 and 2021 model years. I have gone to the dealership and contact Chevrolet's customer service multiple times and they refuse to reimburse me for the cost of the necessary repairs. I have already purchased the broken and necessary, ancillary components and repaired the vehicle myself because I did not want to pay the dealership over $2000 in labor which they quoted me.

Jul 31, 2025

My transmission failed and had to be replaced for 10,000. The car is a 2018 so this was totally unexpected

Transmission shudders at low speeds changing gears. Less than 79,000 miles and changed or flushed transmission 3 times at dealership. Vehicle has been at dealership over a month with no fix in sight.

Jul 5, 2025

Constantly displays “shift to park” when vehicle is properly in park and shut off which keeps the electrical system operating. Warning beeping (which can’t be turned off), interior and exterior lights, stereo, etc. continue for anywhere from minutes to hours until it randomly shuts down. Exterior lights have to be shut off manually. Meanwhile the battery is being drained and alarm system can’t be armed while warning beep is alerting passersby that the vehicle is powered on while unoccupied and unprotected. Other than waiting it out, the only option to shut the vehicle off is to disconnect the battery.

Jul 5, 2025

Regarding the vehicle's functionality, the horn activated unexpectedly on or around May 2, 2025, sounding continuously for approximately 10-15 minutes while the vehicle was occupied. Subsequently, the horn has ceased to function. Furthermore, on or around May 10, 2025, the powertrain system indicator illuminated, leading to a diagnosis on May 18th that identified code P0455, indicating an EVAP system leak. Concurrently, the driver's side seat belt buckle has exhibited a tendency to detach and fall between the seat components, failing to remain in its intended position.

9t65 auto transmission failed at 115,000 miles. It won't change past 3rd gear, and engine has reduced power. Towed it to the Chevy dealership where we bought it in York SC. They told me it needed a new transmission and it was not covered by any warranty. I then took it to a transmission repair place and was told it needed a new transmission and the cost was estimated at $7300. I've read lots on the Internet about numerous people having the same issue. There was even a very short term trial program to repair or replace the transmission on some vehicles....had to be low miles and fairly new. Meanwhile, our traverse has been sitting for about a year while I continue to make monthly payments on it.

May 10, 2025

The vehicle would not shift into park. We were told by the dealer park switch sticking at times.

May 4, 2025

When I stopped and ready to park the car, I put transmission to 'P' park position and press button to stop the engine. Even it is in park (P) position, the display shows 'shift to P position' message. I have to restart the engine and change the transmission and put it again 'P' position. Sometimes I had to try few times. I searched the internet and this looks like a common problem, but no recalls on this model.

May 1, 2025

Every time I turn the vehicle off I get a warning “Shift to Park” but it IS in park. I’ve called the dealership and was told there is no recall or bulletin for my VIN but it is a known issue on other Chevy Traverse’s. The dealership is going to charge me to run diagnostics and repair but since this is a known issue it should be a recall.

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle, with the gear shift lever in park(P), the message "Shift to Park" was displayed. The contact shifted the gear shifter back and forth and then into park(P) before the proper gear was recognized. The contact stated that the vehicle had previously been repaired for the same failure, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the gear shifter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,800.

2018 Traverse. 70k miles. We purchased it brand new at the end of 2017. On [XXX], we were driving home from Michigan the car sputtered and would not accelerate. We were almost hit by a semi that was driving behind us. We were able to pull into a gas station and put the car in park. While sitting at gas station the car shut off and wouldn't restart. No warning lights came on prior to the vehicle shutting down. We had it towed to our mechanic (VIP Automotive- New Lenox, Illinois). The mechanic went through the car and advised that the engine had seized. All fluid levels were fine, no leaks, all scheduled maintenance completed on time. He found metal chunks- not just shavings- in the oil pan. He said he's never seen anything like this and that the catastrophic engine failure had to be due to a defect in the engine. It ended up costing us almost $6,000 to have another motor installed in the car. I contacted Chevy, and was basically told too bad, and that they would not cover or assist with anything. The car was extremely well maintained and I provided a copy of all service records dating back to 2017 when we purchased the car. There are numerous groups on Facebook that have same/similar complaints on the Chevy Traverse (3.6L V6) and Chevy Trucks/SUVs (6.2L V8). I believe they are aware that there are numerous issues with these vehicles and continue to sell them, despite the risk to consumer safety. The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that after his wife had parked the vehicle, the vehicle failed to turn off as intended. The contact also stated that the vehicle had failed to start while at a gas station. Additionally, the contact stated that upon shifting from reverse(R) to park(P), the vehicle failed to respond and continued reversing. The contact 's wife depressed the brake pedal, and the vehicle stopped. The vehicle was taken to Main Street Service Station, where the contact was informed that the failure could be related to the transmission shifter cable; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a related recall, and he had to pay for the repair. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.

Truck stuck in shift to park

Jan 31, 2025

I recently had my alternator fixed and the torque converter last year. I was having issues with the battery staying charged, car would jerk, radio, heat and air would shut off and come back on, car would go in reverse although I'm trying to go forward, shift to park warning message when car was in park and there are shortages out something that will connect and disconnect the Bluetooth when I'm on calls via Bluetooth. I picked my car up from Love Chevrolet 1/28/2025. Everything seemed fine but the car still jerked when I would take off at lights, make turns or go up hills. The shift to park message is still happening. When I park the car and turn it off the car makes a sound and the warning pops up. The car lights will not go off when this happens. I have to turn the car off and on or take it out of park a few times for it to stop. I'm afraid to leave the car with that warning on because the doors won't lock and I'm afraid it will roll. Love Chevrolet said they didn't see the error message for it while they were driving but it constantly happens to me. Even when I turn the car on to warm it up it gives me that error message.

I purchased this vehicle in 2022 of October after about a year. I started noticing the car beginning to jerk back. Also, I noticed that the shift the handle when I would put it into park. It would not stay in park. It kept giving me a beeping noise. It kept slipping. At the time it wasn’t doing is it as much but lately I’ve noticed that it’s been happening more frequently so I took it into a mechanic to have it checked and they said it is a defect on the transmission. when I searched it up under NHTSA website I seen that there was multiple defects for this 2018 Chevy traverse.

Dec 10, 2024

The vehicle will not shut off and vehicle information screen states Shift to park. When this happens we have 2 options. 1st to sit and wait for the vehicle to turn off(takes over an hour on average), 2nd Disconnect the negative battery connection. The vehicle shuts down nearly instantly. Then reconnect the battery before being able to use the vehicle again

Nov 21, 2024

Third instance of failure on this vehicle. Vehicle does not recognize that gear selector is in Park. "SHIFT TO PARK" warning is displayed when shift selector is firmly in Park.

Nov 8, 2024

After I purchased the vehicle in 2021 I noticed there was a shuddering feeling when accelerating at speeds below 40mph. I found the service bulletin and the dealership flushed the transmission fluid and reprogrammed the transmission. Issue seemed to be resolved, but on 11/4/24 I was pulling my car out of a parking lot after being parked 4 hours and when shifting from park to drive the car lurched forward and made a loud clunking sound. There were no lights on so I drove onto the highway and shortly after the check engine light came on and I could not accelerate above 50 mph. I limped the car to a nearby dealership and they indicated that the transmission was shot and needed to be rebuilt or replaced. It is currently in the shop waiting to be rebuilt. The total cost is around $5,500. Between both transmission incidents I also had an issue with the shift to park and service stabilitrak warning lights. That was fixed before warranty expired, but I am now out of warranty and need to pay out of pocket. Called Chevrolet corporate and was told they'd look into offering financial relief but still haven't heard back from them despite the case being escalated. This is a known issue and is a risk to driver safety. There should be a recall and all expenses should be reimbursed!

My vehicle has not reached 100.000 miles and my transmission needs to be replaced

Jun 25, 2024

The gear shift is malfunctioning. When parking keep getting shift to park message when in park. Have to tap shift or turn car off and on several times and shift gears for it to register the car is parked. Has not been inspected yet. No warning messages at all.

Jun 1, 2024

The transmission will not go into reverse. While in drive, the transmission will completely stop, thus jerking the car to a stop. Prior to this, there was difficulty putting into park.

May 19, 2024

The shifter or gear selector does not sense when it is in park. So it will not fully let the vehicle power down. Example.... if I park, place the vehicle in position Park, the "P" on the dash is illuminated, the "P" on the center console is illuminated, the doors unlock, but system information screen will continue to alert, ringing, with an alert to place vehicle in Park. The contact shifted the gear shifter back and forth and then firmly shifted into park(P) before the proper gear was recognized. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.

Shift assembly has failed twice - April 2021 and April 2024. For this latest occurrence (April 2024), the vehicle spontaneosly stops registering when I shift into park. When I shift, the vehicle sends a warning to shift into park. There is a safety concern because I cannot determine whether or not the vehicle is actually in park. The GM dealer has determined that the issue is a faulty shifter switch and harness and a faulty shift knob. The issue occurred and was repaired in April 2021. The issue began occuring again, intermittently, in January 2024. Issue became consistent (inability to shift to park) about March 2024. At the same time, the parking brake/stabilitrak began engaging each time the vehicle stops (e.g., at stop lights, etc), which has caused premature brake wear. In April 2024 the following parts were replaced: Shifter switch (Part #84955381) Harness (Part #84733196) Brake rotors Brake pads

Shift to Park error occurs everytime I put my car into park. It does not turn off and the vehicle remains on until I jiggle the shifter. This has been "repaired" 2x under warranty. Now that it is out of warranty the manufacturer refuses to cover any of the expenses on this known issue with a bulletin per your website (18-NA-297).

The transmission on my 2018 Chevy Traverse went out per the mechanic that recently inspected it. It was just purchased from a Chevy dealership not even 8 months ago. I first noticed the problem a couple weeks ago when my car hit about 25mph getting on the highway then wouldn’t go any faster as I would try to accelerate speed, then it was jerking and was harshly engaging from time to time. Then it finally felt like someone crashed into the back of my car it jerked so hard and then accelerated but only went up to 40mph and wouldn’t go any faster. It would hit 40 mph and then idol at the speed when you would hit the gas to accelerate. No engine light came on or anything at that time. Then a couple days later the shifter would be put into reverse and then not go in reverse when you hit the gas to go. Having two young kids, my husband told me it wasn’t safe to be driving it at all. We had it towed to a mechanic shop to be inspected since we depend on a car for our job. The mechanic inspected it with a diagnostic code reader as well as looking at the transmission. The overall condition is that the transmission is not working anymore. I have done research and for this specific make, model and year there are tons of recalls for the transmission.

The transmission on this year/make/model has a bad track record as shown by numerous Technical Service Bulletins. Car will repeatedly not shift throughout 9 speed transmission TSB: PIP5546C 17-NA-317 PIP5621D 04-07-30-013E 20-NA-138 06-00-89-031 21-NA-201 PIP5697E 18-NA-298

My car just stopped working is related with the transmission

Dec 8, 2023

The car shifter doesn't detect that it's parked and keeps displaying "Shift to Park" message not allowing you to turn off the car completely. This problem happened before and was only fixed by replacing the shifter but it happens again after about the same time driving the original shifter.

Dec 4, 2023

I was driving on the highway and without any warning, the acceleration did not work in my car. I coasted to the side of the highway and waited for over an hour for a tow truck to arrive. Chevrolet replaced the transmission. I was told Chevrolet would consider rebates if I go through a Chevrolet dealership to fix it. They charged $2,000 over other shops, but only offered $200 off. They also took over a month to repair my vehicle. I wish I did not use them for repairs. Also, during heavy rains, the car leaked water through the electrical components in the roof. We intervened several times, but water persistently came through. Finally, we purchased the car at under 30,000 miles and immediately needed to replace the exhaust and shift to park feature. The car would not recognize when I was in park and could not turn off.

Oct 4, 2023

N222385510, the exhaust system separated from the car. There are current recalls from GM for 2019-Current Traverse models with the exact same issue. Our 2018 has the exact same problem and our local GM dealer verified it, but they will not cover this expense. We were quoted $2,000 + for the fix, GM Customer Care has been no help.

"Shift to Park” message displays despite vehicle being in ”Park”. This prevents the engine from being shut off. Consistently need to move vehicle gear shift back into other gears, then shove gear shift into Park with force allowing me to shut off ignition. Apparently there was a recall about this same common issue many others are experiencing. My vehicle report shows No outstanding recalls, despite this exact issue being a documented, previous recall.

Vehicle had known service bulletin transmission shudder and told torque converter failure for vehicle with only 57000 miles. Vehicle already had TCM and transmission control and flush services at 9,000 and 15,000 miles. GM did 50/50 split of bill since 5 year power warranty was expired. GM should be paying these entire costs to customers for a known quality issue documented in numerous service bulletins for the Traverse.

I placed my car in park & an alert went off stating, “shift to park.” My car would not turn off, after multiple attempts, until I turned it on & off & drove the car a short distance. This has happened several times this month, with no warning or symptoms. My car is currently in for service & the dealership mentioned there’s a shortage in the switch, requiring a $400 repair. I feel my safety & that of others, is at risk, as my car currently does not know if it’s in park or drive. What’s to say this issue won’t arise, when I’m driving down the interstate at 70mph? Or I am having a medical emergency & can’t turn my car off to place it in park? I did a google search & apparently this is a very common issue with this type of car. The dealer mentioned it would have been covered under a 3 year/36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty, but my car is 4 years old with 37,000 miles on it.

My 2018 Chevrolet Traverse says shift to park and an alarm sounds. The vehicle is in park but will not turn off.

Jan 29, 2023

On multiple occasions the vehicle slowed to a stop but engine was still running. This happened once on the interstate at the speed limit. I got warning that power brakes and steering were not working. Other times the car shudders and stops. I then have to turn engine off and restart. I then take to dealer and they check with a computer and can find nothing wrong. I also had “shift to park”. Message and was unable to turn off engine. $300ish to get this fixed. The dealer said common in that vehicle. I want to make clear that this shuddering and limp mode problems have happened at least five times. The date above is the most recent

Shift to park error. Happens often when the car is in park, the error states that the car is not in park and has an alarm that goes off. I am unsure if the car is safely in park and not sure my car will lock if I do not try to cancel out the message by continuously starting the car back up and shifting the gears to ensure it is in park. It happens very frequently. I was told by the dealership that they have replaced a lot of these parts and they are not sure why a recall has not been issued yet.

"SHIFT TO PARK" WHEN CAR IS ALREADY IN PARK

Sep 2, 2022

When I turn off the vehicle, there is an audible dinging that does not stop and a message "shift to park" on the screen. This warning and message does not stop and therefore would run down the battery if left. I googled a solution before taking to the dealership and it turns out, this is a common failing in many Chevy vehicles. It is a small part located in the shift control, literally a 1 inch strip of flexible metal, that isn't making a good connection to a sensor. Chevy should fix this or replace for free since it is clearly a defect, but instead service departments charge a diagnostic fee ($169) and I was told it would be a $777 fix on top of the fee. With the "shop fees" it would cost $1,000.

When I shift into park, the car does not recognize that the car is in park and the car will not turn off. I had this issue after only about 2 years of owning the brand new vehicle. I contacted General Motors, and since my mileage was out of warranty limits they would not fix it. I took it to a dealer and had to fix it. Now about two years later I’m having the same issue. The car doesn’t recognize that it is in shift and will not turn off fully. It is dangerous because the car won’t fully shut off. And since it is an electronic issue there’s nothing the driver can do to change it. Clearly it is faulty and something like this shouldn’t have to be replaced twice in 4 years. The only people who have inspected it are the mechanics at the Chevrolet dealership.

Attempted to park vehicle in level parking lot. Vehicle appeared to go into Park. Driver Information Center indicated that vehicle was not in Park and provided warning bells. When exiting the vehicle was providing warning more warning sounds and would not stop. Vehicle was in Park, but would have run warnings until battery discharge. Tried cycling vehicle, contacted On-Star and began troubleshooting with them. I was unable to resolve with them and GM support. Took to dealership and after troubleshooting was resolved by following steps in TSB 19-NA-206 which was performed outside of any warranty coverage.

Transmission seems to be slipping causing the vehicle to jerk or stutter while accelerating. When accelerating the vehicle will stutter while trying to shift causing temporary loss of propulsion. While reversing and shifting into drive the vehicle may continue in reverse momentarily until the drive gear kicks in. The vehicle is going in for service next week. No lights, warnings or messages are on. There are tons of other complaints online about the same issue involving many different vehicles. The only real safety risk is when trying to merge onto a highway and temporarily losing acceleration.

My 2018 Chevy Traverse started to have a "shift to park" issue at 49,000 miles. I can not turn the car off because the vehicle states that it is not in park. I have to sometimes literally sit in the vehicle for 10-15 minutes waiting for the car to agree that its in park. Very dangerous. Dealer says it is not covered under warranty at I have to pay for it out of pocket.

Jan 5, 2022

Even though the car was shifted to "park" there was an "action needed" message saying shift the car to park. The lights and radio stayed on as well as the Warning bells indicating something needed attention. Even after repeatedly restarting the car and aggressively shaking the shift mechanism, I couldn't get the car to turn off. I wasn't able to lock the car doors. I went inside the grocery store and shopped. The car was still "on" when I returned. I was afraid I would run the battery down as everything was still on. I drove home (9-10 miles) and parked in the garage. After switching off the ignition (yellow light still on), I still got the action needed message and the radio, lights were still on. I went inside and returned 20 minutes later and the car was off. This is the fourth time I've had this problem.

Electrical ground problem affecting transmission control is evident by a Shift to Park warning that displays on the driver information center and prevents vehicle from being turned off. GM has this problem so we’ll documented that a TSB exists and is on file with NHTSA. The inability to turn off the vehicle when this is encountered is a significant safety issue. We paid out of pocket to have the fix recommended in the TSB applied to our vehicle.

Restart engine and turn off again sometimes helps but usually has to be done multiple times. If left as is the issue will drain the battery. Cannot leave vehicle in this condition. Late for appointments. Reported issue to dealership on day the 36 mo. warranty was up and they said not in and diagnosed. This is a known issue from multiple Traverse owners yet the car was not in the shop and diagnosed. Car getting stuck in Shift to Park

Oct 11, 2021

The " Shift to Park" notification activates even though the car is placed in park. The car will not turn off and continually beeps. The dealership is aware of this common problem and will fix it at my own cost within next 24 to 48 hrs. There is a previous Service Bulletin #Bulletin No.: 18-NA-297, Date: December, 2018 that states this problem but I did not receive this notification as the only owner of this vehicle. Multiple complaints on-line re this problem. I am concerned that the vehicle may not be in park and could roll over someone or something

When I put the car in Park sometimes I receive a message saying Shift to Park. It doesn’t happen every time but sometimes if I flick the shifter it will clear the message. I had to pick up my grandchild who was sick at school and it took me 10 minutes to get it to clear. It’s so annoying!

Aug 20, 2021

My vehicle will not always go in to park allowing the vehicle to move and not to be locked if it doesn’t roll when “parked”. GM knows this is an issue and refuses to do anything to correct the issue.

2018 Chevy Traverse with 39,145 miles. When placed in Drive, shifter did not connect and car would not move forward, instead went backwards. Also, when placed in Reverse, the opposite happened and car would not move in reverse, but went forward. Repeatedly get message stating SHIFT TO PARK when shifter is in PARK. Per GM, no recall. Issues have not been detrimental at this point, but definitely has to potential to be detrimental and a safety matter. Vehicle scheduled to go into Chevy dealership for assessment and repair, but told will have to pay $95 just to look at it and will not be covered by warranty. Upon research, MANY complaints noted with same issue. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE DEALER FOR IT ONCE ALREADY AND THEY SAID THEY REPLACED THE WIREING HARNESS. THIS DID NOTHING. I AM THE SECOND OWNER AND I HAD THAT DONE AT ABOUT 35,000 MILES BUT IT NEVER COMPLETELY WENT AWAY. NOW I AM AT 50,000 MILES AND FOR THE LAST FEW WEEKS I HAVE BEEN NOTICING TERRIBLE HIGH PITCH NOISE THAT SOUNDS LIKE BAD ROAD NOISE BUT ITS COMING FROM THE DRIVE TRAIN. SO FAR IT HAS SEEMED TO HAPPEN MOSTLY AROUND THE 72 TO 78 MPH RANGE ON THE HWY. AS SOON AS YOU LET OFF THE GAS THE NOISE GOES AWAY BUT 50% OF THE TIME THE NOISE COMES BACK WHEN YOU REAPPLY THE GAS. SOMETIMES IT TAKES DRASTICALLY CHANGING SPEED AND THEN TRYING TO GET BACK TO NORMAL. MY FAMILY AND I TRAVEL A LOT. THAT'S WHY WE GOT THE TRAVERSE AND OTHERWISE HAVE LOVED IT! WE HAD TO REPEATEDLY SHIFT INTO A GEAR EITHER REVERSE OR DRIVE SEVERAL TIMES ON EACH OCCURRENCE, AS YOU COULD NOT TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. THIS SEEMS TO BE A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE AS FRUSTRATION WITH NOT BEING ABLE TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND SELECTING A GEAR REPEATEDLY. THE SERVICE TECH MENTIONED THERE WERE A COUPLE REPAIR SERVICE BULLETINS THAT MENTIONED A EASY FIX AND THE OTHER A SHIFTER REPLACEMENT. OURS BEING THE LATER OF THE TWO. THE SERVICE TECHS ALSO MENTIONED THIS IS PREVALENT IN SOME OTHER MODELS. THIS ISSUE IT WOULD SEEM IS AN UNFORTUNATE ACCIDENT WAITING TO OCCUR! WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AFTER DRIVING, A NOTIFICATION SAYING "SHIFT TO PARK" IS DISPLAYED ON THE DASH EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS CONFIRMED TO BE STATIONARY IN PARK. THIS ISSUE CAUSES THE CAR TO REMAIN RUNNING, WHICH IF UNBEKNOWNST TO THE DRIVER, CLOSES THEIR VEHICLE IN A GARAGE WHILE THINKING THEY SHUT THEIR CAR OFF, COULD CAUSE CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING INSIDE THEIR HOME.

OCT 2019 HAD GEAR SHIFT HARNESS REPLACED BECAUSE SHIFT TO PARK WAS SHOWING UP AND VEHICLE WOULDN'T TURN OFF OR LOCK. THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN IN DEC 2019 AND I HAD TO HAVE THE SHIFTER REPLACED. JUNE 10 2020, VEHICLE STOPPED CROSSING A MAIN ROAD AND IT WOULDN'T MOVE FORWARDS OR BACKWARDS. HAD TO LET VEHICLE ROLL BACKWARDS TO A SEMI SAFE SPOT OUT OF TRAFFIC. POLICE HAD TO BE CALLED BECAUSE THERE IS A LOT OF TRAFFIC IN THIS AREA AND I COULDN'T GET THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO REPLACED. THEY SAID THERE AREN'T ANY PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX IT DUE TO GM BEING CLOSED DUE TO COVID. I ONLY HAVE 21,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND HAVE HAD IT FOR 2 YEARS AND 3 MONTHS. I DON'T HAVE PAPERWORK FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND A POLICE REPORT WASN'T FILED BECAUSE THEY ONLY PROVIDED THEIR VEHICLE FOR SAFETY CONCERNS. *TR

I HAD PURCHASE A 2018 CHEVY TRAVERSE FROM CURRY CHEVROLET IN THE SAME YEAR, I NOTICE A LITTLE SLIPPING WITH A LITTLE JERKING SOMETIMES A FEW MONTHS LATER AND THE SHIFT TO PARK WAS ACTING UP. I CALLED CURRY AND ASKED THEM IS THERE ANY PROBLEMS OR RECALLS WITH THIS MODEL, SERVICE DEPT SAID NO, THEN I HAD CALLED A DEFERENT DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THE SAME, AND I HAD CALL CURRY ABOUT THREE TIMES REGARDING MY THIS PROBLEM, SO I KEPT CHECKING MY VIN# ON CHEVY .COM NOTHING COMES UP. SO I WENT ON LINE TO FIND OUT I WASN'T ALONE REGARDING THESE PROBLEMS EVEN WITH LATER MODELS. THEN I CALLED CUSTOMER CARE TWICE TO MAKE SURE THE INFO I WAS GIVING WAS THE SAME, I HAD EXPLAINED MY PROBLEMS WITH THEM, SHE SAID THERE ARE NO RECALLS UNDER MY VIN# AT THIS TIME, I WENT OVER MY WARRANTY WITH BOTH CUSTOMER REPS, BOTH WERE ACCURATE THAT MY VEHICLE IS STILL COVERED. I ALSO RECEIVED INFO THERE IS A BULLETIN OUT #18-NA-121. I AM HOPING THERE WONT BE ANY PROBLEMS CORRECTING THESE ISSUES, I AM PREPARED FOR A FIGHT GETTING A LAWYER AND GOING TO MANY NEWS STATIONS, I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY WOULD YOU PUT A DEFECTIVE PART NOT ONLY IN MY MODEL BUT OTHERS WITH OUT SOLVING THE PROBLEMS FIRST ACCORDING TO OTHER OWNERS THAT HAD POSTED THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE POWERTRAIN. WE WERE TRAVELING ON VACATION AND WERE 2.5 HRS AWAY FROM HOME AT THIS TIME. WE STOPPED TO PUT GAS. WHEN WE EXIT THE GAS STATION TO ENTER ENTER THE STREET (BEFORE ENTERING THE FWY), THERE WAS A LOUD GRINDING NOISE AND WE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. WE WERE ABLE TO STEER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO APPLY ANY GEAR CHANGE. THE CAR WAS STILL ON, BUT WE WERE NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE THE CAR. NONE OF THE GEARS WERE FUNCTIONING, INCLUDING, PARKING, DRIVE, AND REVERSE. WE WERE LEFT UP HILL AND IT WAS SCARY BECAUSE EVEN WHEN THE CAR WAS PLACED ON PARKING, IT WAS GOING DOWNHILL. WITHOUT PLACING THE BREAK ON THE CAR, THE CAR WOULD JUST KEEPING ROLLING DOWN. WE WERE LUCKY THAT THE TRAFFIC WAS SLOW SO WE WERE ABLE TO GUIDE THE PARK DOWN HILL WHERE THE LAND WAS COMPLETELY FLAT. MY 2018 CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED THE CAUSE OF THIS INCIDENT WAS A BROKEN AXLE!! I DRIVE MY 3 Y.O. FIRST ISSUE IS, WHEN YOU STOP DRIVING THE TRAVERSE, PLACE IT IN PARK AND HIT THE BUTTON TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE, IT WILL SHUT OFF THE ENGINE BUT NOT THE ELECTRONICS. THE CAR DISPLAYS "ACTION REQUIRED SHIFT TO PARK" EVEN THOUGH IT IS ALREADY IN PARK WITH THE RED P LIT UP. YOU CANNOT TURN OFF THE VEHICLE UNTIL YOU REPEATEDLY START THE VEHICLE, PLACE IT IN DRIVE THEN BACK TO PARK. EVENTUALLY IT WILL WORK CORRECTLY. VEHICLE WILL NOT LOCK WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THIS NOW HAPPENS EVERY TIME I TRY TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. I AM JUST OUT OF WARRANTY AND DEALERSHIP SAYS I NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN AS THE RECOMMENDED FIX FROM MANUFACTURER DID NOT WORK. ALL OF WHICH ARE OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES DESPITE THIS BEING A WELL KNOWN ISSUE. ALSO, VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY HAVE A LONG DELAY BEFORE THE VEHICLE SHIFTS IN GEAR. YOU SHIFT TO D AND HIT THE GAS AND THE ENGINE REVS LIKE IT IS IN NEUTRAL AND EVENTUALLY IT WILL FINALLY START TO GO. THIS DELAY WITH ENGINE REVVING ALSO HAPPENS RANDOMLY WHEN AT A STOP AND ACCELERATING THROUGH INTERSECTIONS AND I HAVE HAD A FEW NEAR MISSES OF ALMOST BEING HIT BECAUSE OF THIS! THIS SECOND ISSUE ONLY SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN GOING FROM A STOP.

I WAS STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION AND THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO MOVE FORWARD, IT APPEARED TO DISENGAGE EVEN THOUGH THE SHIFTER AND DASH ICON WERE SET IN "DRIVE" MODE. THERE IS ALSO AN ALARM SOUNDING WHEN I SHUT THE VEHICLE MOTOR OFF AND THE DASH SCREEN READS "SHIFT TO PARK". I FOUND THAT I NEED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND SHIFT OUT AND BACK IN TO "PARK" IN ORDER FOR THIS ALARM TO SHUT OFF. IT APPEARS THERE IS A BAD CONNECTION BETWEEN THE COMPUTER AND THE TRANSMISSION OR VISA VERSA. GM HAS ALREADY ISSUED SEVERAL TSBS RELATED TO THIS VEHICLE AS YOU MIGHT BE AWARE.

STARTED GETTING A "SHIFT TO PARK" MESSAGE WHEN TRYING TO SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE, EVEN TOUGH THE GEAR SHIFTER SHOWED BEING IN PARK. WHEN THIS OCCURRED, THE MOTOR WOULD TURN OFF, BUT THE ELECTRONICS IN THE CAR WOULD REMAIN ON. KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS VEHICLE USES A SMART KEY WITH PUSH BUTTON IGNITION AND DOOR LOCKS. IF THE BATTERY GOES DEAD, YOU HAVE TO BREAK INTO THE VEHICLE. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH SHOWED THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE TRAVERSE. THE SHOP FOREMAN AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THIS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE. THE GEAR SHIFTER (ALSO ELECTRIC) HAD FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED BY CHEVROLET.

2018 CHEVY TRAVERSE WHEN DECELERATING AROUND SPEEDS UNDER 35MPH CITY DRIVING THE VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY REV UP AND THE RPM WILL GO UP TO 4000 OR 5000 RPM, THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHILE BRAKING. SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL JERK FORWARD AS IF IT WAS GOING TO ACCELERATE AND OTHER TIMES IT JUST STAYS AT A HIGH RPM FOR 5 SECONDS OR LESS UNTIL I EITHER COME TO A COMPLETE STOP OR TRY TO ACCELERATE AND IT DOES NOT RESPOND. THE ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE IT IS IN NEUTRAL AND THE ACCELERATOR IS BEING HELD DOWN. IT ALSO DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE GAS PEDAL WHEN IT IS REVING LIKE THIS, AND IF I TRY TO ACCELERATE THE CAR WILL EVENTUALLY KICK INTO GEAR AND LUNGE FORWARD. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WITHING THE FIRST FEW MONTHS OF OWNING IT AND THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE AND SAID THE COMPUTER DID NOT RETURN ANY ISSUE. I SAID I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT IT DOING AGAIN AND ME POSSIBLY BEING HIT BY SOMEONE WHO EXPECTED MY CAR TO MOVE AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID MY OTHER CHOICE WAS NOT TO DRIVE IT UNTIL THE SOFTWARE FIX WAS AVAILABLE; HOWEVER, THEY COULD PROVIDE NO TIMEFRAME ON WHEN OR IF A FIX WOULD BE AVAILABLE.

THIS SPECIFIC INCIDENT OCCURRED A TOTAL OF TWO TIMES. ON APRIL 23, 2019 AROUND 9:40 AM I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THIS TRIP. I WAS NOT SURE IF THE CAR WAS GOING TO MAKE IT TO MY FINAL DESTINATION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. ON APRIL 24, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THE CAR SHOWED 4 'CODES'. P0011 'A' CAMSHAFT POSITION ' TIMING OVER-ADVANCED OR SYSTEM PERFORMANCE BANK 1 P0014 'B' CAMSHAFT POSITION ' TIMING OVER-ADVANCED OR SYSTEM PERFORMANCE BANK 1 P0021 'A' CAMSHAFT POSITION ' TIMING OVER-ADVANCED OR SYSTEM PERFORMANCE BANK 2 P0024 'B' CAMSHAFT POSITION ' TIMING OVER-ADVANCED OR SYSTEM PERFORMANCE BANK 2 THESE CODES REPRESENTED A SOFTWARE PROBLEM RELATED TO THE ENGINE. TIM INFORMED ME THAT ACCORDING TO THE GM BULLETIN (PIP5568E OR DOCUMENT ID# 5251270), THE RECOMMENDATION IS TO DELETE THE CODES AND THAT THERE IS NOT A SOFTWARE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM AT THIS TIME. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT BECAUSE OF THE SEVERITY OF THE SYMPTOMS I WAS EXPERIENCING RELATED TO THE CODES HE DID NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THE RECOMMENDATION FROM THE GM BULLETIN AND HE WOULD BE ESCALATING THE ISSUE TO THE GM DISTRICT MANAGER. THE ULTIMATE RESULT IS THAT THEY WANT TO DELETE THE CODES AND HAVE ME COME PICK UP THE CAR AS THERE IS NO SOLUTION TO THE ISSUE AT THIS TIME.

HAD MY KIDS IN THE CAR AND WAS ABLE TO TURN AROUND TO GET BACK TO MY HOUSE. ONCE I GOT IT TO A SAFE SPOT I PRESSED ON THE GAS TO PROPERLY PARK IT. THEN THE SUV JERKED FORWARD IN A SUDDEN AMD HARD FASHION AND I ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME.

NEW LEASE UNDER 8,000 MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT ON A HEAVILY TRAFFICKED ROADWAY, WHEN I HI THE GAS THERE WAS A LOUD GRINDING. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE AGAIN AS I SAT IN THE MIDDLE OF MAIN ROADWAY WITH CAR SPEEDING BY AS MY WIFE, MY CHILDREN AND MY NIECE SAT IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME. AFTER TRYING TO GET THE TRANSMISSION TO ENGAGE IN "AWD" I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR OFF THE ROADWAY AND INTO A MUCH SAFER PARKING AREA. WHEN PUT INTO "PARK" THE CAR CONTINUED TO ROLL UNLESS THE "EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY IN A DEALER IN MARYLAND AWAITING REPAIRS MORE THAN A WEEK LATER, AND I AM BACK AT HOME ON LONG ISLAND.

PURCHASED A 2018 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE IN OCTOBER. BEGINNING WITHIN THE FIRST 30 DAYS THE CAR MADE A LOUD ROARING NOISE WHEN @ 2100 RPM AND GOING APPROXIMATELY 74 MPH. JUST THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE. THEN STARTING IN DECEMBER, WHILE TRAVELLING OUT OF TOWN, IT PERSISTED EVERY TIME WE DROVE IT. IT ALSO WOULD LOSE POWER OR SOMETHING STRANGE WHEN PUTTING IT IN GEAR AFTER BACKING OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY. WE WOULD ACCELERATE FOR A SHORT DISTANCE WHEN THE RPM'S WOULD REV-UP TO 6-7,000 RPM BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T GO. IT WAS ALMOST AS IF IT WOULD SLIP ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD. WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN 4 DIFFERENT TIMES FOR REPAIR AND THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. THE CAR ALSO TURNS ITSELF OFF. THE PANEL GOES BLACK. WHEN WE START HEARING A LOUD RUMBLING NOISE WHILE SITTING IN NEUTRAL AT A FAST FOOD DRIVE THRU OR RED LIGHT WE TURN THE AIR CONDITIONING OFF TO TRY AND HEAR THE NOISE BETTER AND THE CAR DIES AND THE PANEL GOES BLACK. WE HAVE HAD TO ACTUALLY RE-START THE CAR. WE ARE EXTREMELY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE AND ARE RETURNING IT DO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW FOR OUR FINAL TIME. THEY HAVE BEEN GIVEN NUMEROUS OPPORTUNITIES TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM AND THINGS ARE ACTUALLY GETTING WORSE. THIS IS SUCH A SHAME BECAUSE WE WERE SO EXCITED ABOUT OUR NEW CAR. WE LIVE ON A VERY BUSY ROAD WHERE VEHICLES AND 18 WHEELERS CAN GO IN EXCESS OF 70 MILES AN HOUR AND I AM AFRAID TO PULL OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY WITH THIS CAR. WE HAVE EVEN COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHEN IT LOOSES POWER TO AVOID BEING HIT FROM BEHIND. THE DEALERSHIP WOULDN'T EVEN START REPAIRS UNTIL THEY COULD DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. FINALLY A MECHANIC ROAD WITH US AND WITNESSED THE NOISE BUT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO "DUPLICATE" THE SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR TYPE PROBLEMS. SINCE IT IS HAPPENING REGULARLY NOW, MAYBE THEN CAN SEE FOR THEMSELVES. IT HAS TRULY BECOME A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM.

I PURCHASED A 2018 TRAVERSE/REDLINE ON 6 FEB 2018, DROVE IT LESS THAN 100 MILES, AND THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING TWO (2) DAYS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE SERVICE SECTION ADVISED THEY DON'T HAVE THE EQUIPMENT NEEDED TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, AND THAT THE EQUIPMENT IS EXPECTED SOMETIME NEXT WEEK. TODAY, 20 FEB 2018, STILL AWAITING EQUIPMENT. I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP MGR THAT I DON'T WANT THAT VEHICLE BACK. THE MGR SAID THAT HIS HANDS ARE TIED AND I WOULD HAVE TO DEAL WITH GM. CONTACTED GM ON 9 FEB, AND COMPLETED AN APPLICATION FOR WHAT I WAS LET TO BELIEVE WAS A 'BUY BACK' OF MY VEHICLE. THE GM REP INFORMED ME THAT SOMEONE WOULD CONTACT ME WITHIN TWO DAYS. NEEDLESS TO SAY, IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. I CALLED GM BACK ON 13 FEB, SPOKE WITH ANOTHER REP WHO HAD NO CLUE AS TO WHY I WAS CALLING. THIS REP ASKED FOR 72 HOURS, AND WOULD GET BACK TO ME. ON 20 FEB, I RCVD A CALL FROM THE GM REP WHO STATED THAT GM CAN ONLY DO A BUY BACK AFTER 3 OR MORE PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. BOTTOM LINE IS THAT I BOUGHT A 46,000 DOLLAR PIECE OF JUNK, AND OF COURSE, NO ONE WANTS IT BACK. AND GM IS MORE THAN AWARE THIS PROBLEM EXISTS... THANK GOD I WASN'T MAKING A TURN IN FRONT OF ANOTHER VEHICLE WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED... TRULY AN UNSAFE VEHICLE... BUYER BEWARE !
