The Chevy suffers from the "Shift to Park" issue due to a faulty park switch in the shifter assembly, which is an electrical issue. Apparently GM does not cover this repair but it is dangerous as the car does not shut off even when engine is off and the gear is in park.

Park to shift keeps popping up on dash while driving. Vehicle will not recognise when in park at times to allow vehicle to be shut off properly. The stability track warning pops up on dash now as well. The check emits comes on with codes for all going back to transmission control module system and when replaced spark plugs we found that the PCV (cam cvr to turbo) tube was cracked all the way through where the hard plastic meets metal on the part and had to replace it. This is all after multiple failed parts that had to be replaced dealing with the ac unit and it’s lines. Today is the second time in two weeks that the vehicle has been in operational mode in the middle of a foward motion driving at the time. Luckily this time I was in a housing area and not a major street or on the loop 360 when it decided to stop driving while in motion in drive.

The car has a "Shift to Park" error message. We noticed a recall for other 2018 Traverse vehicles and wonder why ours is not covered. Car will not shut down completely. Battery is drained. Dealer is requesting $767.43 to repair when other GMC/Chevy vehicles are identified in a recall.

When I put my car in park and turn the vehicle off I get a warning that says shift to park. This has happened before and I have had it fixed a couple years ago. This problem has been ongoing for a couple months. It is not covered under warranty. I have to either start the car again and take the car out of park and then place it in park and then turn the car off, or push up on the gear shift to get the car to recognize that it is in park.

My 2018 Chevy traverse has a shift to park warning that continues to come on. It makes the vehicle not lock or park and you have to wait till it goes off. Sometimes it takes restarting the car and turning it off again before it will turn off. this seems to be a known problem when you look it up that 2018-2019 traverse are experiencing this. This should be a national recall for those years specifically.

I’ve had this vehicle for about a year or less the car ran fine with minor problems that come with having a vehicle. Up until last week the car never showed any signs of a failing transmission, it went from running fine to shuttering and suddenly I wasn’t able to reverse. The check engine light never came on, I’ve did all my routine checks and more with the dealership I bought it from and was never told anything when the vehicle was brought in for inspections.

Frequent symptom is an "Action Required: Shift to Park" message on the dashboard. Which is preventing my vehicle from shutting down properly, and causing the battery to drain, and hinder my car's ability to start in addition to getting trapped in the vehicle because the vehicles fail to shift to the ‘Park’ position preventing me from being able to exit the vehicle. This is a known issue affecting various GM models which one being my 2018 traverse by GM but not willing to make official recall of the issue. There is a class action settlement due to this issue that was not privileged to me as an owner of a used vehicle included in this notice and have.

Been receiving a "shift to park" warning message since last year. It seems to be a known issue, however nothing has been done about it. I've had trouble from time to time getting the car to recognize the Park position I've put the shifter in and occasionally have sat in my car with it on for minutes attempting what I can think of to have to car finally recognize that I shifted into Park. I had called a Chevy dealership near me who advised because my car is outside warranty it would not be a covered repair. I'm concerned as I have 2 young children and this is our family vehicle. I cannot leave a car running while I have my children inside or with them inside and me outside trying to turn the car off.

My 2018 Traverse has had the “shift to park” message displayed on the instrument cluster when I put the vehicle in park. Even though the red P for park is illuminated and the vehicle is clearly in park the ignition will not power off when you depressed the start/stop button. The vehicle displays the message shift to park. Now this has transpired for about 3 months and it is very frustrating when you can not park in your garage especially when storms are imminent from the forecast not to mention carbon monoxide poisoning! Now I or my wife have to continuously push on the shifter to get it to turn off. Or we have to turn the vehicle back on and try driving around the block or wherever we are at. Now not being able to turn your engine off is a definite safety concern especially when you have children and pets . This has been happening in GM SUV’s and is a known issue by GM but they seem it’s not a safety issue due it not causing any issues while driving. I had the vehicle repaired at our local dealer and it was $789 to repair the malfunctioning item. I have never heard of a shifter being defective in today’s modern cars. Whether it’s a mechanical issue or electrical issue it needs to be addressed. If I were to live an apartment dwelling with indoor parking I would have to find some other means to park if I could not turn my engine off. I have read numerous complaints online via forums which is very saddening when these automakers claim dependability with their very expensive vehicles. If the vehicle was built with defective or faulty components how does thst burden fall on the consumer?

Regarding the vehicle's functionality, the horn activated unexpectedly on or around May 2, 2025, sounding continuously for approximately 10-15 minutes while the vehicle was occupied. Subsequently, the horn has ceased to function. Furthermore, on or around May 10, 2025, the powertrain system indicator illuminated, leading to a diagnosis on May 18th that identified code P0455, indicating an EVAP system leak. Concurrently, the driver's side seat belt buckle has exhibited a tendency to detach and fall between the seat components, failing to remain in its intended position.

Another place didn’t recommend that & I was told needs a new transmission. I have only had my vehicle 4 years and have kept it well maintenanced.

The vehicles fails to recognize it’s in park and does not shut off. Shift to park indicator turns on. Frequently have to park on incline and worried the vehicle will roll. The vehicle will not completely turn off and this has caused the steering to lock. When the vehicle finally turned off, then turned it back on we couldn’t get the steering wheel to unlock. Had to drive it with what felt like no power steering for a period of time. Shift to park indicator blinks and warning light appears that says no remote is detected, yet the remote is in the vehicle. Been in a situation where had to quickly get in to a Dr but the vehicle wouldn’t turn off so had to leave the vehicle running. At that point anything could happen, but had to take care of a sick child.

I began hearing a rattling noise from my engine area recently. I made an appt with my local Radley Chevrolet dealer. It was noted by the technician that the front exhaust pipe bracket that connects the 2nd front exhaust pipe is broken and tapping against each other causing the noise concern. They listed for me to replace the front exhaust pipe that goes from under the oil pan to the catalytic converter. Upon researching this issue, this appears to be a known issue for my specific year and make and model. However, upon calling GM they have nothing listed under my specific VIN number. I believe this to be an issue that should be covered under a special coverage or recall given the amount of owners having this same issue.

I recently had my alternator fixed and the torque converter last year. I was having issues with the battery staying charged, car would jerk, radio, heat and air would shut off and come back on, car would go in reverse although I'm trying to go forward, shift to park warning message when car was in park and there are shortages out something that will connect and disconnect the Bluetooth when I'm on calls via Bluetooth. I picked my car up from Love Chevrolet 1/28/2025. Everything seemed fine but the car still jerked when I would take off at lights, make turns or go up hills. The shift to park message is still happening. When I park the car and turn it off the car makes a sound and the warning pops up. The car lights will not go off when this happens. I have to turn the car off and on or take it out of park a few times for it to stop. I'm afraid to leave the car with that warning on because the doors won't lock and I'm afraid it will roll. Love Chevrolet said they didn't see the error message for it while they were driving but it constantly happens to me. Even when I turn the car on to warm it up it gives me that error message.

While I was driving, the rear sunroof suddenly "exploded". I was shocked as I did not feel any impact, but it sounded like a wrecking ball had hit my car. I don't think I swerved into the other lane or anything like that, but honestly it happened so fast, I'm not sure. My heart was racing, and I felt like I was in danger, but able to pull over fairly soon after. I began to feel unwell as if my blood pressure was elevated, which I'm sure it was. I inspected the outside of the vehicle and didn't see any damage, but then from inside noticed a crackling sound, which was localized to the rear sunroof. I examined it from the top and found it to be cracking in various areas around the perimeter of the glass. The shade on the sunroof was closed, so I don't believe any glass entered the interior of the car. I called my daughter to tell her what had happened and drove the rest of the way home. At this point, I have not had anyone else look at it but am reaching out to the dealership where I bought the car.

So since 8/02/23 when the vehicle had 54,000 miles it began to give electrical problems. I bought the car 01/16/23 it had only 26,000 miles. The service battery charging system light and battery saver mode went on and also the reduced steering light which began to shut the car down I immediately pulled over. Took it to gm dealer they tested battery was dead then charged it checked alternator it failed so they replaced alternator. 7 days later 8/10/23 the car is still running rough idle. Had savi code p0496 evap flow during non purge replaced purge solenoid. The car still the engine slightly was not 100 percent fixed I told them every time it wasn't good. 02/12/24 I took back to dealer engine running rough and every time I put gas it was hesitant the transmission I am assuming check engine light was on code p0496 the gm dealer diagnosised and replaced canister purge solenoid.so 2/28/24 battery saver mode light came on andservice battery charging vehicle stalled out checked alternator failed replaced alternator. 6/25/24 took to another gm dealer and the diagnosised it check engine light was on and told them my car wasn't starting well after I filled my gas and rough engine. Told me to come back 7/03/24 to do evap canister check engine light was on they found evap leak from from evap canister charged me 508 dollars. So I took vehicle from dealer towards hone filled up gas car would not start problem was not fixed called dealer immediately manager said get here before they close I did and manager left but on service guy got the master mechanic to look at it he said it's purge valve the next day they were closed due to 4th of July so was told to take back on 7/5/24 to replace purge solenoid. The gas issue was fixed but now the transmission is worse when I accelerate it stutters bad I been telling both dealers was told they can't look at vehicle unless check engine light was on so 3 faulty purge valves 2 alternators replaced and car stutters worse shift to park light.

This concerns a defective transmission control (shifter) assembly. The defective shifter assemblies prevent the vehicles from detecting when the driver places the car in “Park.” As a result, the vehicle goes into accessory mode and one cannot shut off or lock the vehicle, the instrument cluster displays a “Shift to Park” message even though the gear shifter is already in “Park,” and the battery drains. Because one cannot reliably turn off their vehicles when reaching their destination, the Defect substantially impairs the vehicles’ ability to provide safe and reliable transportation. Shifter assemblies are not expected replacement or maintenance parts and absent a defect should not require replacement. Nonetheless, GM had knowledge of the defect and GM fails to repair the GM known Defect. Chevrolet service department has confirmed the defect.

Shift to Park error occurs 90% of the time I put my car into park. The car turns off but none of the electrical does, like its in accessory mode. Dings when you try to leave the car and will not lock. Display reads 'Shift into Park'. I have to jiggle the shifter to get it to engage. Could be a couple jiggles or 5 mins of jiggling and restarting the car, shifting from drive to park over and over.. This has been "repaired" once under warranty. Now that it is out of warranty the manufacturer refuses to cover any of the expenses on this known issue with a bulletin per your website. I did not realize this was happening to so many. Should be a recall for sure! VERY FRUSTERATING.

The shift lever is not sensing that the vehicle is in park. This is the second time this has happened. I have to click the shift lever button rapidly to get it to sense that it is in park. The problem was confirmed in 2019 by a dealer and the whole housing was replaced. It is ultimately failing again. GM needs to be held liable for this fix.

The shifter or gear selector does not sense when it is in park. So it will not fully let the vehicle power down. Example.... if I park, place the vehicle in position Park, the "P" on the dash is illuminated, the "P" on the center console is illuminated, the doors unlock, but system information screen will continue to alert, ringing, with an alert to place vehicle in Park. This is happening now everyday, sometimes take 10 plus minutes before the car senses it is actually in park.

I was driving and just passed a vehicle while accelerating when I heard a pop noise, saw a lot of white smoke through my rear view mirror, had the engine light go on and the vehicle stopped working. I slowly pulled over to the side of the road and placed the vehicle in park followed by turning off the car. A person driving by stopped and advised me my vehicle was on fire under the undercarriage. I popped the hood and the engine was also in flames. I was unable to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher and the local fire department and law enforcement agencies helped to put out the fire. The vehicle was a complete loss. If it were not for the passer by person telling me the undercarriage of the vehicle was on fire, not sure if I would have known in time to get out of the vehicle safely. My quarter panel taillight has stopped working due to moisture in the light (no visible breakage on light). This part is on continuous backorder with no ETA of coming back in stock. Dealer has ordered part but will not give a loaner car. GM acknowledged backorder but will not give rental reimbursement. I have three children I am to put in this car that does not have a left turn signal or brake light. I feel unsafe driving this car as I may be rear ended but everyone I talk to says they can't do anything. What am I to do.

I currently own a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse with 63k miles the had a cracked catalytic converter. The catalytic converter was replaced but the dealer also charged me for a flex pipe replacement which they said was broken too. This is a known issue as per GM's own bulletin #PIP5681, yet they refused to cover the repair in it's entirety. GM is entirely covering this issue in 2018-2021 chevy traverse vehicles, but they are refusing to cover the costs of the flex pipe replacement for approximately $600.

The rear catalytic converter has a crack in it which causes exhaust fumes to blow right into the cab of the vehicle. I have called and reported. I asked if there was a recall, chevy said theres no recalls. I stated how bad the fumes are and that when quoted, it is over 2000.00 to repair. I have looked into this and it seems to be a common issue with the Traverse. Muffler shops and regular mechanics refuse to touch this issue and state it has to be taken to a dealership for replacement and repairs. I currently cannot transport my children in the vehicle. I drive 10 miles to work and have a headache all day due to the fumes i injest in the drive to work. By the time i get to work i am very light headed and dizzy. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed and taken seriously before any fatalities due to the lack of concern or care from Chevrolet.

When I get back to my car I notice my back moon roof was completely shattered. “When the vehicle is in park and you try to turn it off with the start/stop button an on dash error code of ‘Shift to Park’ appears even though the vehicle is clearly in park. You are not able to turn the vehicle off. I took the vehicle in for service and was told that GM is aware of the issue, however, their engineers have not found a solution. This currently is forcing me to restart the engine, put my car in reverse, shift back in drive, try re-parking and turning it off again, repeating the process until it eventually turns off. I do not know if my car is truly in gear or not. I’m afraid that it might cause a dangerous situation.” not sure but I think the doors stay locked and I would not be able to exit in an emergency. The dealer wants to charge diagnosis and hundreds for repairs with the same faulty parts . I have 42000 mi and out of warranty I see this is a widespread problem and GM is not addressing what is a serious dangerous problem please help I have been living with this problem for the past 2 years it is getting worse I was hoping it would be recalled with a new part no for permanent fix. I have a 2018 chevrolwt Traverse which needs repairs matching the TSB PIP5681C. This issue is on every traverse from 2018, and they have since created a special coverage to fox the issue for every vehicle from 2019 until now. One of the special coverage#'s is - N222385510. This is an emissions issue and a safety issue as the bracket that breaks actually punctures the exhaust pipe causing exhaust fumes to constantly smelled inside the cabin. There is no reason that GM is paying a special coverage on the 2019-2022 but not on the 2018 as well for the same exact parts and same manufacturing flaw.

Just started happening: on occasion, when trying to shut vehicle off, the accessory light kicks on and DIC says "SHIFT TO PARK". I have to restart the car many times and shift it from drive to park to finally get it to shut off. The issue is commonly discussed on youtube. It's the sensor/switch that tells the car it's in park. Please offer a fix.

SHIFT TO PARK error comes up when park to shut down. Does not allow shutdown of the car without beeping notices. Not allowing doors to lock or driver to exit. Must be fairly common as Google shows a lot of workarounds or how to fix a clip under the shifter knob down in the console.

When you turn off engine it tells you to shift to park when it is already in park. Then it continues to give you bells there is a problem. My nephews 2018 equinox has started doing the same thing. Since we just put $1400 in A/C and going back in for A/C we will probably park in since our income can not accommodate more repairs. It only has 53,000 miles on it very well taken care of.

Starting on June 1, 2023 (odometer 73,200), when I shift to park my vehicle & then attempt to turn off my vehicle, I receive a warning “ACTION REQUIRED Shift to Park.” I am unable to turn my vehicle off or lock it until I repeatedly jiggle the shifter for it to sense that my vehicle actually is parked. This is a know issue with multiple GM vehicles.

My car started making a rattling noise. It took over a month to finally determine it was coming from the exhaust system. When we inspected it to try to fix it, there is a crack and a hole at the exhaust bracket. This is what has caused it to loosen. After doing research on this, it appears this is a known issue and the warranty was extended for the 2019 but not the 2018 when it is the exact same issue for both. So my vehicle repair for a known issue is now not covered.

I have a 2018 Chevy traverse with less than 30,000 miles and I keep getting a “Shift to Park” message after my car is in park. It prevents me from turning off my car and locking it. Dealership told me it is a common issue. I will have to pay out of pocket in addition to, in order to diagnose, I have to have the issue happening while it is at the dealership. It randomly happens and I can’t go bk and forth to the dealership to fix it.

I had my 2018 Chevy Traverse serviced at a local Chevrolet dealership and the mechanic suggested that I get my rear toe adjust links replaced as soon as possible. He said that when the toe links fail, the back of the car becomes unstable and starts moving from side to side when you are driving it. The dealership asked if I had noticed whether the back of my car was moving back and forth when I drove it. Fortunately, I did not have that problem before getting the toe links replaced for $599.56. Given that my car is only 4.5 years old with only 39035 miles on it, I asked why the toe links were failing. The Chevrolet mechanic said it was due to a "crappy design." It appears there is a recall on the Chevy Malibu toe links but none currently on the Traverse. There should be.

I have been having an issue with my Traverse Antilock Braking System for over a year now. I took it in the first time the icon message kept coming off & on intermittent technician stated that since the icon did not remain on and no check engine light was on nothing they could do and just keep driving it. It kept doing it but will not stay on long enough for me to take back to dealership to proof to them. Recently kept coming on more often and now it's a major and safety concern for me as I am handicapped and this is my only transportation. About 2 weeks ago finally check engine came on I drove to Auto Zone had them do the check engine test got a print out of all the codes made appointment with dealership they kept my vehicle for 4-5 days said they had to reprogram the system charged me for it cause they said my warranty did not cover this $209.00 later the next day same thing icon came back on took car back and again was told that nothing they can do unless check engine stays on. I was able to take a picture with my phone send to them not good enough. Have been driving my vehicle like this and everytime I stop at a traffic light icon comes on & off. I also got a message from my Onstar Diagnostics about this problem and says I should have this problem taken care of immediately as it could be dangerous. Do not understand why my local dealership is waiting for an accident to happen before they realize this should of been taken care of. Since I do not feel very safe driving my vehicle with this issue and I do not have any other means of transportation I have made my family aware of this issue and if something were to happen they know that this had been an issue I tried to have fixed and never happened cause the check engine light did not stay on and that's the only way the dealership said it could get fixed. I have a 2018 Chevy Traverse that has been running strange lately. The engine seems to run rough hesitating and stalls. Today 4/4/2022 my check engine light came on with code P0496. I turned off engine and attempted to start again. It made a horrible noise like it was struggling to start and the engine revel’s up like the gas pedal was stuck out it wasn’t. I immediately turned car off because it sounded like it was going to explode. I looked it up and seems that 2015-2017 Chevy Traverse has a recall for Evaporative Emissions Purge Valve Replacement but my vin doesn’t show it. My car was manufactured in 2017. Will this qualify to be fixed under recall? It’s a cheap part and appears to be a simple fix,

The car does not recognize when the vehicle is in park. It will ding an error at you so you are unable to leave your vehicle. This error will continue to go off until you can find a trick to shut the car down. I work downtown and need to park in a garage. I was left sitting with an alarm going off for several days while I searched for tricks on my phone to get the error to turn off. I am a single female and I was put at risk because my car would not turn off. I had to sit in the garage alone until I could find a way to be able to leave my car.

After it rains water leaks from the headliner between the rear view mirror and headliner control panel (lighting, sunroof, collision controls etc..) It is available for inspection, the introduction of water in this area could affect the components in this area, camera, air bags, collision alert. Have not taken into a dealer to evaluate or inspected.

When I put the vehicle in park I get a message that says (SHIFT TO PARK) even though the vehicle is in park. Then when I try to turn my vehicle off I can't. It takes several times messing with the gear shift to finally get it not to say (SHIFT TO PARK) then I can finally turn my vehicle off. I've contacted the dealership and they say they know of this issue, but there is no recall. I feel like this is a problem that needs to be addressed and GM needs to correct immediately.

IT WOULD ALARM & CHARM WITH A MESSAGE TO "SHIFT TO PARK". THIS IS A KNOWN MANUFACTURING ISSUES WITH THE CHEVROLET TRAVERSE, GMC ACADIAS, AND POSSIBLY OTHER MODELS OF CHEVY/GMC. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AS THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW IF THE VEHICLE IS TRULY IN PARK AND CAN LEAVE YOU IN SCARY SITUATIONS WHEN YOU CANNOT TURN OFF THE CAR. WE HAVE ALSO BEEN STRANDED WITH A DEAD BATTERY BECAUSE THE "SHIFT TO PARK" CHIME AND MESSAGE DRAINED THE BATTERY. CHEVROLET HAS PROVIDED THEIR DEALERSHIPS WITH BULLETINS IN HOW TO ADD A JUMPER HARNESS AND ADD/REPLACE A SWITCH IN THE GEAR SHIFT ASSEMBLY TO CORRECT THE ISSUE, BUT REFUSE TO TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE SERVICE ADVISORS ADMIT THEY HAVE HAD TO FIX NUMEROUS GEAR SHIFTERS AND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. IF THE TELEPHONE POLE WAS NOT IN THE PATH OF THE VEHICLE IT WOULD HAVE CROSSED A SIDE STREET AND COME TO REST IN OUR NEIGHBORS FRONT YARD. UPON VIEWING THE VEHICLE AFTER THE DRIFT FORWARD, BEFORE ENTERING THE VEHICLE WE COULD SEE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CLEARLY IN PARK AND TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS HAD (1) PREVIOUS SERVICE BY A DEALER FOR TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR.

UPON CALLING CHEVY, THIS IS ONLY COVERED UNDER THEIR BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY WHICH IS UP IN 36,000 MILES OR 3 YEARS. THIS ISSUE MOST COMMONLY OCCURS BEFORE THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRES, YET IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THE SHIFTER MUST BE REPLACED DUE TO THIS SENSOR FAILURE AND IS AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. ACCORDING TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM THAT THEY ARE NOT BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE ACTION TAKEN TO ADDRESS THIS INCLUDING AND NOT LIMITED TO A RECALL OF THE PART WHICH IS CLEARLY FAULTY, OR THAT IT BE COVERED IN THEIR POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BEING THAT THE POWERTRAIN DOES NOT OPERATE WITHOUT THE SHIFTER-IT'S IMPOSSIBLE.

WE WOULD ACCELERATE FOR A SHORT DISTANCE WHEN THE RPM'S WOULD REV-UP TO 6-7,000 RPM BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T GO. IT WAS ALMOST AS IF IT WOULD SLIP ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD. WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN 4 DIFFERENT TIMES FOR REPAIR AND THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. THE CAR ALSO TURNS ITSELF OFF. THE PANEL GOES BLACK. WHEN WE START HEARING A LOUD RUMBLING NOISE WHILE SITTING IN NEUTRAL AT A FAST FOOD DRIVE THRU OR RED LIGHT WE TURN THE AIR CONDITIONING OFF TO TRY AND HEAR THE NOISE BETTER AND THE CAR DIES AND THE PANEL GOES BLACK. WE HAVE HAD TO ACTUALLY RE-START THE CAR. WE ARE EXTREMELY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE AND ARE RETURNING IT DO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW FOR OUR FINAL TIME. THEY HAVE BEEN GIVEN NUMEROUS OPPORTUNITIES TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM AND THINGS ARE ACTUALLY GETTING WORSE. THIS IS SUCH A SHAME BECAUSE WE WERE SO EXCITED ABOUT OUR NEW CAR. FINALLY A MECHANIC ROAD WITH US AND WITNESSED THE NOISE BUT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO "DUPLICATE" THE SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR TYPE PROBLEMS. MY WIFE HIT A TELEPHONE POLE HEAD ON, VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. VEHICLE HAD 3000 MILES ON IT. MY WIFE HAD A SEAT BELT ON BUT WAS STILL INJURED. . ALSO ON STAR NEVER CAME ON. AN INVESTIGATOR FROM GM WAS HERE TODAY,AND SAID I SHOULD GET A COPY OF HIS REPORT.

WAS DRIVING FROM NYC TO TORONTO. WE STOPPED 3 HOURS AFTER FOR BATHROOM BREAK AND LUNCH. I DID NOT LEAVE THE CAR THEREFORE THE CAR REMAINED ON. DROVE FOR ANOTHER 2 HOURS AND STOPPED FOR A BATHROOM BREAK AT JUNIUS PONDS TRAVEL PLAZA AROUND 330PM. TURNED OFF THE CAR AND THATS WHEN WE REALIZED WE DROVE WITHOUT THE KEY. THIS IS IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR. WE CALLED ONSTAR AND CHEVY BUT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST IN ANYWAY. MY PARENTS HAD TO DRIVE TO US TO GIVE US THEY KEY. IT TOOK THEM OVER 6 HOURS BECAUSE IT WAS RUSH HOUR. IMAGINE 6 HOURS BEING STRANDED WITH KIDS. LUCKILY WE WERE AT A REST STOP WITH FOOD, BATHROOM AND MOST IMPORTANTLY HEAT. IT TURNED OUT WHILE MY HUSBAND WAS BUSY PACKING UP THE CAR, HE HAD SWITCHED INTO HIS WINTER JACKET LEAVING HIS SWEATSHIRT BEHIND WHICH THAT KEYS WERE IN. THE CAR WAS IN PARK IN OUR DRIVEWAY. WE DROVE OFF AND THERE WERE NO NOTIFICATIONS. WE EVEN STOPPED AT STARTBUCKS AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK AGAIN. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS THIS WILL MAKE IT EASY FOR THEFT AND RISKS THE SAFETY AND HEALTH OF THE PEOPLE IN THE CAR. CAN YOU IMAGINE IF WE HAD STOPPED AT A PLACE THAT DID NOT HAVE HEAT. ONSTAR ONLY ALLOWS 2 REMOTE ENGINE START THEN IT WILL TELL YOU THAT THE CAR ENGINE HAS TO BE MANUALLY TURNED ON BEFORE USING THE REMOTE START AGAIN. IM NOT TALKING ABOUT IF A CHILD ACCIDENTALLY THROWS THE KEYS OUT THE WINDOW IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR SHOULD TURN OFF. IM SUGGESTING THAT THE CAR SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO MOVE FROM PARKING IF THE KEY IS NOT IN THE VEHICLE. IMAGINE DRIVING 5 HOURS 300+ MILES AWAY FROM THE KEY AND NO WARNING.
