On Friday, 12/19/2025, I started by car and noticed that the infotainment display was taking longer than usual to boot up. It cycled through the Chevrolet splash screen 2 times until it ended on the "Update Failed. Returned to dealer." Due to this message on the infotainment display, there is no sound coming out of the speakers which results: *unable to hear turn signals when they are activated, *the front camera is no longer working, *unable to hear the parking assist when in reverse, *OnStar is no longer working, and *unable to hear front collision warnings. The display just cycles this message. I called around to several dealerships to see if I could get in that day to get this corrected. I was able to take it to a Chevrolet dealership on Tuesday, 12/23/2025, who diagnosed the problem as software corruption due to the over-the-air update and will result in a new radio needing to be installed. I then called Chevrolet Customer Service Center who stated that since my vehicle is outside of the bumper-to-bumper warranty, regardless of their over-the-air update causing the problem, I would have to pay for the repair. I asked, how do I know that this won't happen again with the new radio? They suggested that I have the dealership turn off the automatic over-the-air updates.

When I shift my car into park and turn off the engine, an error message appears-"Shift to Park." Although the dashboard displays that the vehicle is in park, the radio and lights remain active & I am unable to turn off my car. To resolve this issue, I must restart the car and cycle through park, reverse, or neutral before attempting to shift back into park again. It often takes multiple attempts to eliminate the error message. My Traverse is currently at the dealership, where I have been informed that it needs a new shifter, which is not covered under warranty. These vehicle is garage kept, one owner & has less than 32k miles on it- I have also discovered that this issue is recognized by GM, with numerous complaints documented on this site alone. Given that this is a widespread problem affecting many owners, it seems unreasonable for us to shoulder the expense of this repair.

Shift to park. Unable to shut off car although car is in park

Nov 5, 2025

Front Manifold has cracked twice, bracket to exhaust system has broken twice. A few times when we put it in park the traverse will say it's not in park and we have to wiggle the gear shift.

The front passenger door does not open from the interior causing passenger to be trapped within. The only way to open passenger door is from the exterior. I took Traverse to GM dealership on September 30, 2025. GM dealership removed door panel, and stated the front door lock cable was not attached to door handle assembly. Traverse was repaired on October 1, 2025. The charge was $199.99 plus tax. I purchased this car used in July 2024.

Received "shift to park message" after car was placed in park mode; was unable to turn the car off. Had to restart and take the gear in and out of park multiple times before I was able to turn the car off. The sensors did not recognize that the car was in park. Took the car to the Chevy dealership. They discovered an internal fault that caused the vehicle to not recognize that it was in park. Chevy replaced the gearshift assembly and jumper harness. The "shift to park" error message is no longer present (for now). I'm concerned this may happen again; my cost to repair was $651.24. This repair should be covered under a vehicle recall as it is an ongoing issue with some Chevrolet vehicles, along with the persistent squeaky brakes. This shift to park issue is not covered if the bumper-to-bumper warranty has expired. It may, however, be covered if you have an extended warranty. There are multiple vehicles reported with this issue as seen in the online forums. Some models were previously recalled or repair cost was covered by Chevy.

When parking and shutting off vehicle I get a notification on my dash "Shift to Park" along with dinging noise.

The vehicle shows 'shift to park' when the vehicle is parked. Error has been occurring since June and the dealership will not warranty the sensor repair and replacement. Burns Chevrolet dealership quoted me $600 to replace it. Dealership acknowledged that it is a known issue and has affected many models, especially the Traverse. There is a technical service bulletin for the issue and should be a recall.

When attempting to put my 2022 Chevy Traverse in "Park," the vehicle does not always recognize that it is in the Park position. As a result, the system will not allow me to fully turn off the engine or power down the vehicle. I often have to shift between gears and attempt to place it in Park multiple times before the vehicle senses it correctly. This issue occurs intermittently and poses both safety and usability concerns, as the vehicle may not be fully secured when I believe it is in Park.

I have noticed several instances where my vehicle does not go in park when I put it in park. The engine still runs after turning off because of this and sometimes I don't catch that it has not locked in park and I get out of it and the vehicle will roll

Shifting into park. When you stop put car in park(It shows in P but when you turn off car error message comes on) shift into park even though car is already in park

Jul 14, 2024

When parking vehicle and putting shifter in park, an audible alarm was dinging and the dash board was flashing shift to park. It was already in park. I did some things and it stopped. Many times I have my 7 grandchildren in the car with me. This has happened more than once and I feel its unsafe to exit my car until I get it to stop. I don’t know whats causing it. My husband said it happen to him too.

I wish to report GM still has an issue with broken bracket/exhaust defect on the 2022 model, N222385510.

About 1 week ago, I began getting "Shift To Park" warnings/notifications when I would park the car and turn off the engine. To make it stop, I usually have to turn the car back on, shift to a different gear, shift back to Park, wiggle the gear shift around side to side and back and forth within the Park gear. Sometimes it will have remedied when I attempt to turn the car off the second time, and other times I need to do the same procedure again. In looking it up online, this is a known issue, and an ongoing issue, with GM vehicles over the past several years with no fix or attention to mandate a correction. This seems to effect GM vehicles of multiple models and can allow the vehicle to roll (and my driveway is a small hill on the top of the hill/cul d' sac that we live in). When it fails to recognize the vehicle is in Park, I cannot exit the car, the alerts and chimes continue and would ultimately drain my battery if it failed to recognize that it was in Park. I do have an appointment scheduled for the dealership to check since I am under warranty still. My vehicle only has less than 29,000 miles and is not driven on rough or challenging terrain, with local drives of less than 10 miles generally. Only 1 driver for this vehicle as well.

The exhaust pipe separated from the mounting bracket resulting in damage to the pipe leading to the manifold. This is a 2 year old vehicle. This issue has been reported in multiple years of Chevrolet Traverses. Chevrolet extended warranties on 2021 Chevrolet Traverses to 150,000 mile for this exact issue but clearly have not fixed the problem for the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. N222385510 There was no warning of this issue.
