The problem seems to be with the electrical system the TIPM is malfunctioning. Wipers will stop midstream or run constantly, any time power is engaged in the car the wipers will begin to work whether the switch is on or off and regardless if the key is even in the ignition or not. Airbag lights are lit up, blinker switch will engage wipers to run.

It happened to my wife with our three kiddos in the car, she was on the freeway doing speed limit 65 when the car just shut off going around a corner at night all of everything shut off including head lights, power steering, and moter it almost through her and kids off the road in the dark ,the wipers shut off whenever they want and the healights off and on without warning, the horn blows unpredictable like , eceleration from bogging down to super fast causes the car to swerve and jerk around unpredictabley the windows sometimes work and sometimes not, once in a while car wont start and or stalls while driving. I'm really worried and scared my wife and kids are going to get hurt or killed or hurt someone else because of these electrical issues. I was so happy to buy my wifey something nice ,safe and sound to drive kiddos back and forth and take me to work and back for it to only turn out super unsafe and unpredictable , we love our crysler 200 still but its unsafe and needs to be addressed as soon as we can before anyone gets hurt or killed, I'll do anything to get help with resolving this issue. It needs help that I cant provide, or afford I'm still happily paying for it crossing my fingers nothing else this scary happens.

As I was waiting for the light to change, my car suddenly shuts off and won't restart. Luckily, some goof Samaritans helped push my vehicle out of traffic. The mechanic close to where the incident took place found that the ASD fuse needed to be replaced and my car started right up. Well my car shut off while waiting for a light a few days later. I will be having my car looked at again however after research it seems to be that the TIPM needs to be replaced. It would be amazing if there was a recall on this as I see so many others having the same issue. This is a HUGE safety concern.

When I am driving the car, it will randomly power off, and the brake will get hard and the wheel will lock up. I have taken my car to multiple shops and they have not been able to figure out the problem. No warning, lights or anything pop up. This problem started happening, almost 2 months ago. My safety is at a high risk because as I am driving the car will randomly shut off as I am on the highway or I’m just driving down the street. It happens everywhere no matter the distance now mater how much gas is in the tank. I saw an article about a recall on Chrysler due to this electrical problem.

The first time this incident occured I was driving in a residential neighborhood and my horn started randomly honking. Over the past few months the horn will randomly start honking and will continously honk for long periods of time. The horn will blast for miles and there is nothing that I can do to make it stop. I have been pulled over because of this and it's terrible driving at night with the horn blaring. The horn does not work regularly anymore. Then my car started shutting off while driving with no warning lights and total loss of anything that is powered (steering, brakes, etc). I have had to pull over on the freeway in unsafe areas, stuck in the middle of intersections with kids in the car also. After shutting off sometimes I am able to start it right away and it will be fine and other times it wont start and after some period of time it will finally start. I replaced the battery and got a new key fob but neither one has fixed these issues. On top of the random horn blaring and car completely shutting off while driving I now have begun having issues with my transmission. It started randomly not shifting while driving causing me to have to pull over and restart the car after about 5 mins. I have had to pull off the freeway to restart my car. The transmission issue was random at first but I haven't been able to drive my car at all because it will NOT shift after 10 MPH. It is automatic with manual option (which I never use) but it will not shift gears in auto mode or manual. The horn blaring is not only embarrassing but the loudness of it is detrimental to a persons hearing. I have read many reports of this particular car having these same issues and the fact that it completey shuts off without warning and loss of power steering,brakes is extremely dangerous especially when traveling on freeways/highways at 70MPH not only for me and my children but the other drivers around me. I have not had it diagnosed or repaired by a mechanic due to the transmission issue.

car has always ran great no problems. i go to leave house and as soon as i drive maybe 100 ft all the dash lights came on started flashing and chimming. engine also reved up which was crazy i was terrified of rear ending someone. i hit brake but it kept doing it. ive had two different shops run a scan and they say too many codes to know. And tell me to take to dealership. i bought car brand new back in 2012. i just need to know what to do now?? the speedometer went to zero and cold hot hand went to c its like the computer wasnt sending messages to the proper places.

The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the horn inadvertently activated. Additionally, the vehicle lost motive power while driving. The contact coasted to the side of the road and waited to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the fuel pump relay relocation kit needed to be replaced; however, the mechanic was unable to install the replacement part. Additionally, the mechanic disconnected the horn. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

The alternator went out and fried the battery. You could smell like something burnt then the dash lights started flashing like the traction control then the abs light then everything started flashing and the car died and was completely dead. Then when I had the dealer put a new battery in the car he said they had to unhook the alternator so it wouldn’t catch the car on fire. While I moved it, my son said his 300 chrysler did the same thing and their was a recall on his, but theirs not one on the 200s

I own a 2012 Chrysler 200, That I Purchased Used but in excellent condition from a reputable dealer, and had a private pre-purchase inspection by a Mechanic (showing no major issues, and I have that report). I drove my car for just around 10-14 months, performed regular maintenance, and had no issues mechanically or otherwise. On the date this Incident occurred I had travelled in the car throughout that day doing some shopping (and the vehicle ran perfectly). We got home around 8:45pm, I dropped my nana off, and got in the car to go get some dinner. While still on my road (which is dark, curvy, has drop offs and no shoulders) as I rounded a curve my car with NO WARNING, completely died. I lost engine power, power steering, lights, headlights, and my brakes became incredibly weak. I could not be seen be seen by other motorists could not use my hazards, and just by dumb luck I made it over the hill with my momentum and had to struggle( NO Pwr. Steeing) to steer across the other lane on a blind curve with no lights, I was nearly hit by another driver, and got into a vacant lot and required my brake + Emrg. Brake to get the car stopped before it hit the structure on the lot. (I know for a fact I had no warning either mechanically or warning light - because I was looking at my dash panel checking speed at the time of failure) I had to have it towed home. A mechanic diagnosed it as a TIPM failure. After researching I found that this was a widely known/occurring failure on several Chrysler branded vehicles, It is a serious safety hazard for obvious reasons - I nearly got hit myself. Chrysler even recalled the faulty TIPM's on some of their BRAND NEW models but refuses to help owners who's cars are 4-5+ years old. And I can't even spend the Ludacris amount of money for a new one because without a recall and resolution of the defect, I'm just buying another Defective TIPM for $1000+ dollars. This is not only a danger to those in defective cars but others on the road.

Vehicle will turn off while driving, causing steering wheel to lock up. This has happened 3 times. Engine light has come on this time and has codes U0100, U0121 and U11. I’ve had the vehicle checked at NTB, but was told these must be addressed by Chrysler. My safety has been affected while driving on the interstate and the vehicle shut down.

While driving along a 40mph street, the convertible top started to pop open, causing me to have to grab it and pull it down, almost causing me to hit the curb, and having to hold it down until I got home. The instrument panel reading said "CONVERTIBLE TOP MALFUNCTION" and "TOP NOT SECURED". After calling a repair facility, I was advised how to get the top to re-latch closed, but now the top will no longer work, and i'm still not sure that although closed, that the top still isn't locked shut.

Numerous problems with vehicle refusing to start when ignition switch turned on. The dealership could not find a problem. The vehicle then ran for a period of time without additional issues. In April of 2022 the problem resurfaced. After trying for two days to start the vehicle, it started and I took it to a Chrysler dealership. The mechanic indicated the car needed a new starter. The starter was replaced on 4/20/2022. On 5/10/2022 the dealership inspected the vehicle and did an oil and filter change. No problems were found. On 5/13/2022 I was driving and the vehicle suddenly stopped in traffic and would not restart. Thankfully, a crash was avoided when the vehicle suddenly stopped in heavy traffic. The automatic windows and door locks still worked even though ignition would not engage. The vehicle had to be pushed out of traffic and was towed to a dealership. The mechanic listed the following: ASD Main sense circuit; Generator Field Control /circuit; Engine oil pressure sensor circuit low; Starter Control 2 Circuit Open-pulled vehicle in found starter was not engaging-tested both power feed lines. The repair quote was in the thousands of dollars. I have gotten rid of the car and I am purchasing another make of vehicle.

I’ve have been reporting this issue with the TIPM since April 15, 2022 when it stalled and cut off on me in traffic and the horn just started blaring. I have reported this to Mopar/Chrysler, nhtsa and the dealership in which I’ve purchased the vehicle. I was told to have the vehicle towed at my own expense and to pay for repairs. But when you’ve paid out so much already to have a diagnostics performed through 2 different independent shops in which they absolutely refuse to touch or Make repairs to the vehicle when these vehicles have the obvious problems. Not even Pep Boys will touch the vehicles. It’s a disgrace that no one seems to take this issue serious. Upon doing more research, I’ve found the others have complained about the issues. This is dangerous and could cause the vehicle to catch fire. And to think there has been no research or resolution for the issue is even more sickening. These vehicle should be recalled permanently and no dealership should be allowed to sale them. If an issue this dangerous will be overlooked. If you need further evidence. I HAVE CHANGED THE CRANKCASE SENSOR 3 TIMES BUT DOES NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE. ALSO HAVE ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH WINDOWS NOT WORKING AND ONLY HALF THE DEFROST WORKING.

ON 1/12/2020 WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK I TURNED ON MY RIGHT TURN SIGNAL TO MERGE AND IT RAPIDLY CLICKED AND FLASHED ON THE DASH AFTER THE INITIAL 3 NORMAL FLASHES AND I NOTICED THE CAR IN THE LANE NEXT TO ME WASN'T ACKNOWLEDGING MY TURN SIGNAL. ONCE HOME AN HOUR LATER, I REALIZED MY PASSENGER REAR TAIL LIGHT WAS STEADILY LIGHT (NOT FLASHING) EVEN THOUGH MY CAR WAS OFF AND MY LIGHTS WERE NOT ENGAGED AND POSITION OFF. I COULD NOT GET MY TURN SIGNAL/TAIL LIGHT TO TURN OFF. THE BRAKE LIGHTS WORK FINE WHEN THE BRAKE IS APPLIED BUT THE TAIL LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF. THE REAR SIGNAL WON'T WORK EITHER SINCE THE LIGHT WON'T TURN OFF TO FLASH. I HAD TO REMOVE THE LIGHT FROM THE REAR FENDER AND UNPLUG THE LIGHT SO MY CAR WON'T DIE AND PLUG IT BACK IN WHEN I GO TO DRIVE SO I ATLEAST HAVE THE TAIL AND BRAKE LIGHT ON WHILE DRIVING. I CAN FIND NO INFO ON HOW TO FIX THIS AND CHRYSLER WASN'T ANY HELP. THE PROBLEM IS STILL UNRESOLVED, BUT IT DID GO OFF FOR JUST ONE MOMENT, FLICKERED AND CAME BACK ON WHEN I PLUGGED IT BACK IN THE LAST TIME I DROVE.

I WAS ABLE TO GET BACK ON THE ROAD UNTIL AFTER ANOTHER FEW HUNDRED YARDS OF DRIVING THE CAR STALLED AGAIN COMPLETELY. I WAS THEN FORCED TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO HAVE IT TAKEN TO AN AUTO SHOP.

I BRING IT BACK TO THEM AND THEY WANT AROUND $1800 NOW FOR THIS REPAIR. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND SPOKE WITH THEM ABOUT THIS AND THEY REFUSED TO HELP IN ANY WAY WITH THIS SITUATION EVEN THOUGH WE ARE LOYAL DODGE FAMILY CUSTOMERS(ON OUR 5TH VEHICLE). DECIDED TO TAKE TO DEALER THE MEXT MORNING. THE TIME FROM NO WARNING LIGHTS TO COMPLETE LOSS OF ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONALITY WAS APPROXIMATELY 2 MINUTES. THE SHUT DOWN INCLUDED AN ABRUPT LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKING CAPABILITIES WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY STREET DURING DAY. I WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY COMPENSATE FOR THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKING AND STOP THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIFTING INTO A GAS STATION PARKING LOT. ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE INVOLVED NO CLICKING OR THE ENGINE ATTEMPTING TO TURN OVER. HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. I CAN ONLY ASSUME OT MAY BE THE ALTERNATOR SINCE BATTERY IS BRAND NEW NOW. I AM WONDERING IF THIS IS PART OF CAMPAIGN #17V-435 BUT MY CAR IS A CHRYSLER 200 3.6 ENGINE 6 CYLINDER TOURING CONVERTIBLE AND THAT RECALL DOES NOT SHOW 200'S ON THE NOTICE. NOW LESS THAN 2 YEARS LATER ON 12/26/17 VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING 70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY! WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ON 2 LANE HIGHWAY INSTEAD OF 4 AND ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TOOK TO DEALER THAT PURCHASED FROM (HAPPENED CLOSER TO THAT DEALER THAN THE ONE THAT PREVIOUSLY HAD FIXED). EXPLAINED SITUATION, THAT PART WAS REPLACED BEFORE SAME THING HAPPENING. THEY SAID NOTHING WRONG, COULDNT FIND ANYTHING AND SENT ME ON MY WAY - DROVE BACK ROADS BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE. NOT EVEN 30 MILES LATER AND SAME THING HAPPENED. SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. ABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE EVERY TIME. TOOK TO DEALER THAT HAD FIXED IN THE PAST. TIPM FAILURE AGAIN! THIS IS 3 TIMES THAT THE PART HAS FAILED. COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AGAIN - THEY SAID PART WARRANTY HAD BEEN EXTENDED FROM 1 TO 2 YEARS. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND DEFINATELY A SAFETY HAZARD!! WE THEN TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER (EARNHARDT, CHRYSLER, JEEP, DODGE, RAM IN GILBERT, AZ) FOR AN N38 RECALL ISSUE (ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT/AIR BAG) THEY TOLD US THEY WOULD RESET THE TIPM MODULE AND WE WERE HOPING TO HAVE THE ISSUE RESOLVED. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT BEFORE WE TOOK IT FOR THE RECALL ISSUE, THE CAR HAD SEEMED TO BE WORKING FINE AND MYSTERIOUSLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD TURNED OFF. WELL, LO AND BEHOLD AFTER THEY REPROGRAMMED THE TIPM AND DID THE AIR BAG RECALL WE PICKED UP THE CAR AND MY WIFE IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD REAPPEARED AND THE CAR WAS ONCE AGAIN DRIVING LIKE [XXX]! I CALLED CHRYSLER @ 800-992-1997 THINKING I MIGHT GET SOMEONE WHO COULD GIVE ME MORE INFORMATION BUT OF COURSE THIS HAPLESS CHARACTER DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL I WAS TALKING ABOUT IN REFERENCE TO A "SOFTWARE PATCH" HE DID CALL THE DEALERSHIP WE WERE JUST AT FOR THE RECALL, BUT OF COURSE, GOT NOTHING BUT AN ANSWERING MACHINE. HE TOLD ME HE LEFT A MESSAGE AND THEY WOULD CALL BACK MONDAY TO TALK ABOUT OUR CONCERNS. I'M NOT HOLDING MY BREATH WAITING FOR THE CALL. THE CAR ACCUMULATES DEBRIS BELOW THE WINDSHIELD UNDER THE PLASTIC TRAY WHICH CLOGS UP A DRAIN TUBE WHICH THEN MAKES THE WATER FLOOD BACK THROUGH THE HEATER CORE INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR . WETTING THE FLOOR SOAKING THE CARPET AND CAUSING RUST AND BLACK MOLD. I HAD IT FIXED ONCE, BUT AFTER INVESTIGATION INTO THE CHRYSLER CARS THAT THIS IS AN ON GOING PROBLEM WITH ALL THEIR VEHICLES FOR YRS NOW. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND THIS DESIGN FLAW FIXED. EITHER THEY NEED TO HAVE FREE MAINTENANCE OF THIS OR THEY NEED TO HAVE A SEPARATE TUBE FOR RAIN DRAINAGE AND A DIFFERENT TUBE FOR AC HEAT DRAINAGE.. IT HAS CAUSE DEPRECIATION OF MY OVER ALL RESALE VALUE OF THIS CAR PLUS CAUSED CARPET PADDING DAMAGE RUST AND POSSIBLY MOLD IN MY CAR.. CHRYSLER KEEPS LAYING BACK ON THE OWNERS SAYING MAINTENANCE PROBLEM .. AND CHARGING OVER 500 TO FIX IT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE FAILURE LATER RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOW INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V435000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). BOTH THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE REPAIR PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,914.

PURCHASED A USED CHRYSLER 200 IN FEBRUARY 2017 AT 87,XXX MI. IT IS NOW JUNE 2017 AND 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 3 DAYS MY CAR HAS SUDDENLY DIED. THE FIRST TIME I WAS SLOWING DOWN AND MADE A RIGHT TURN AND UPON ACCELERATING IT DIED, DASH LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, QUICKLY TRIED TO RESTART AND WAS UNSUCCESSFUL WITH JUST NOTHING HAPPENING WHEN TURNING KEY. TOOK KEY OUT OF IGNITION AND RETRIED AND STARTED RIGHT UP. NEXT DAY I WAS AGAIN SLOWING DOWN AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN AND BAM SAME THING SAME DETAILS. 3RD INCIDENT I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT AND THE CAR STALLED THIS TIME I WAS DOING ABOUT 15 MPH AND THE STEERING LOCKED UP, QUICKLY TOOK KEY OUT AND RESTARTED. ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND DIAGNOSED AS CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR MALFUNCTION. REPLACED THE SENSOR AND HAVE ONLY DRIVEN FOR SHORT DISTANCE AS THE FIRST 2 TIMES THIS HAPPENED WERE TERRIFYING ENOUGH. AFTER HOURS OF ONLINE RESEARCH I'VE FOUND THIS IS COMMON AND JUST BEING NEGLECTED. CHRYSLER FIX THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED

I AM WRITING THIS COMPLAINT IN RESPONSE TO MY 2012 200 CHRYSLER WHICH HAS COMPLETELY LOST ALL POWER. IT STARTED OUT WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPING ON ME AND THEN ONE DAY WHILE DRIVING THE CAR I LOST POWER. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND THE CAR CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. LUCKILY I WASN'T ON THE HIGHWAY AND WAS PULLING INTO THE PARKING LOT OF MY OFFICE BUILDING. AFTER SPEAKING WITH CHRYSLER I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO SINCE THIS PART IS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IT SEEMS STRANGE TO ME THAT THIS PART ON MY CAR HAD A RECALL FOR THE SOFTWARE A FEW YEARS AGO AND NOW THE HARDWARE IS BAD. I SEE A TON OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS VERY ISSUE INCLUDING A LAWSUIT. IF SAFETY IS OF CONCERN, IT WOULD SEEM LIKE THEY WOULD ANYTHING IN THEIR POWER TO HELP THE CONSUMER.

IT IS NOW MARCH 2017 AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING OR AT IDLE. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THE BRAKES BARELY WORK AND YOU LOSE POWER STEERING WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. THERE ARE HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF POSTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS ISSUE, WITH NO RESOLUTION. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE DIES.

DEALER REPORTED NO COMPUTER CODES AND CAR STARTED AFTER CAR STARTED ON PROBLEM. THERE APPEARS TO BE COMMON SAFETY HAZARD THAT HAS BEEN EXPERIENCED BY MANY OWNERS, THAT REPORTLY CHRYSLER AND NHTSA AGREED UPON A RESOLUTION TO AVOID A RECALL BY CHRYSLER OF THIS SAFETY HAZARD IN SEPT 2012. CHRYSLER DOESN'T ACKNOWLEDGE AND NOT SHARING THIS INFORMATION WITH DEALERS SO THEY CAN TAKE CORRECTIVE ACTION. VARIOUS ATTEMPTS TRIED TO RESOLVE THIS HAZARDOUS CONDITION HAVE INCLUDED REPLACING THE POWERTRAIN MODULE, CAMSCOPE REPLACEMENT, MONITORING THE ON BOARD WITH A COPILOT COMPUTER-WHICH ALSO SHOWED NO CODES. THE DEALER DID SAY THAT CHRYSLER SUGGESTED AN ADDITIONAL MODULE BE ADDED TO THE ON BOARD COMPUTER, BUT NONE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS RETURNED A THIRD OR MORE TIMES AS PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS WERE UNSUCCESSFUL AND APPEARED TO GIVE UP. THIS LIFE THREATENING SAFETY HAZARD NEEDS TO BEINVESTIGATED AND RESOLVED, AS WE WERE DRIVING ON A ROADWAY AND THE MOTOR JUST SHUT OFF., IF THIS NOT RESOLVED IT WILL SOMETIME CAUSE INJURIES OR DEATHS, WHICH COULD END UP WITH A RECALL SOMETHING THAT CHRYSLER POSSIBLE REPLACEMENT OF ON COMPUTERS.

"TAKADA RECALL" WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 40 MPH. I HEARD A CHIME AND LOOKED DOWN AT MY INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE ABS AND THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL WAS ON. LIGHT WAS ON FOR BOTH. BUT INSTEAD OF THE ESC IT WAS THE LITTLE CAR WITH WAVY,JIGGLY LINES UNDER IT. THESE TWO LIGHTS HAVE BEEN ON CONSTANT FOR A GOOD 3 WEEKS. IT HAS GONE OUT WHILE DRIVING A FEW TIMES FOR A FEW MINUTES JUST TO COME BACK ON AND STAY ON ALMOST ALL THE TIME. THERE IS NO FLASHING OF THE LIGHTS. I DON'T DRIVE EVERY DAY. I DRIVE AROUND 5 TIMES A WEEK AND SHORT DISTANCES OF 2 TO 4 MILES FOR THE MOST PART. THERE IS ALSO A WHISTLING NICE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. I DON'T THINK IT IS VERY SAFE TO DRIVE SINCE THE BRAKES AND TRACTION OF THE CAR ARE ALL TO IMPORTANT PART OF ME AND MY FAMILIES SAFETY. PLEASE HELP WITH THIS ISSUE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN AS TO WHY THEY INDICATED THAT THE ORC MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT DID NOT VERIFY IF THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V282000 (AIR BAGS AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS TO CHECK WITH THE MANUFACTURER TO DETERMINE A REPAIR SOLUTION FOR THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,444.

MY CAR FAILED A STATE INSPECTION DUE TO MY AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATING. I HAVE READ THAT "CERTAIN" CHRYSLER 200'S 2012 THEY ARE TO REPROGRAM THE TIPM THEN REPLACE THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT MODULE IF NEEDED. THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE THIS GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF $400. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY ALSO SAID MY CAR WAS NOT RECALLED BASED ON THE VIN AND MY ISSUE. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER WITH TWO KIDS MY CAR HAS 67,000 MILES ON IT HAS NEVER BEEN WRECKED OR DAMAGED AND I BELIEVE CHRYSLER SHOULD REPLACE THIS. MY CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD AN AIRBAG SHOULD NOT BECOME DEFECTIVE IN 4 YEARS. THIS EXACT ISSUE IS WHAT OTHER 2012 CHRYSLER 200S HAVE ALSO. I AM STILL UNABLE TO HAVE MY CAR PASS A STATE INSPECTION AND I ALSO INFORMED CHRYSLER THAT WHEN PASSENGERS RIDE IN THAT SEAT THEY ARE PUTTING LIVES AT RISK BY NOT ACTING QUICKLY. IT IS DANGEROUS AND CHRYSLER SHOULD RECALL ALL 2012 200'S. IT HEY INFORMED ME THE PROBLEM IS IN THE DASH I DON'T EVEN FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR WHAT IF MY AIR BAGS DON'T DEPLOY? I WILL LIVE WITH THAT THE REST OF MY LIFE AND CHRYSLER SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR NEGLIGENCE. I NOTICED AFTER I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN 2012, I STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH MY CAR IN 2013. MY CAR STARTED HAVING HEAT COMING FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. I IGNORED THIS ISSUE BUT THEN IT STARTED HAPPENING MORE OFTEN. ON MY LAST OIL CHANGE THE DEALER DIDN'T FILL MY OVERFLOW FOR THE ANTIFREEZE SO I HAD A FRIEND TO FILL IT UP. WHILE DRIVING THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS BEGAN TO FAIL. RADIO, ABS SYSTEM, WINDOWS AND AC ALL SHUT OFF. THE CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY AND ENGINE WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS. BRAKING AND STEERING SYSTEMS BECAME COMPROMISED BEFORE CAR COMPLETELY STALLED AND COASTED TO STOP ON SIDE OF ROAD. APPROXIMATELY 2-3 MINUTES FROM BATTERY LIGHT GOING ON TO THE CAR BECOMING TOTALLY NONRESPONSIVE. CAR WOULD NOT START, UNLESS JUMPED. REQUIRED TOW. DEALERSHIP STATES THE ISSUE WAS AN ALTERNATOR THAT SHORTED, AND IN TURN BURNED OUT THE BATTERY. THE SHUT DOWN INCLUDED AN ABRUPT LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKING CAPABILITIES WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY STREET AT NIGHT. I WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY COMPENSATE FOR THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKING AND STOP THE VEHICLE WHILE AVOIDING A CRASH, BUT JUST BARELY. THANKFULLY, I BROKE DOWN NEXT TO TWO POLICE OFFICERS WHO HELPED PUSH MY VEHICLE ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THESE OFFICERS MAY BE ABLE TO ATTEST TO THE FACT THAT NO NOISES OR ABNORMAL OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE WAS APPARENT BEFORE THE ABRUPT SHUT-OFF WHILE DRIVING. ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE INVOLVED NO CLICKING OR THE ENGINE ATTEMPTING TO TURN OVER. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED, BUT THE PRELIMINARY DIAGNOSIS IS ONE OF A FAULTY ALTERNATOR. THERE IS AN AWFUL SMELL OF FUMES COMING THROUGH THE AIRVENTS INSIDE CAR. IT'S SO TERRIBLE THAT IT TAKES YOUR BREATH AWAY. WELL I FOUND OUT THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS BECAUSE IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THAC 7 HEATING SYSTEM. MOLD AND BACTERIA HAS SET UP AROUND THE HEATER CORE AND THE ANTIFREEZE HAS STARTED LOOKING LIKE THICK GLUE OR SOMETHING. NOW MY HEAT DOES NOT WORK CORRECTLY. UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN. THE ENGINE STALLS AND LOSS OF STEERING. PROJECTOR TYPE HEAD LAMPS ARE AIMED TOO LOW AND CANNOT BE ADJUSTED AS DESIGNED. ON DARK ROADS PERIPHERAL LIGHTING FROM HEAD LAMPS IS NON EXISTENT. BRIGHTS ARE NEEDED BUT NOT PRACTICAL FOR CONSTANT USE AND IS ILLEGAL IN TOWN AS WELL. THIS IS A REAL DESIGN FLAW AND SOME ONE IS GOING TO GET HURT IN A NIGHT TIME ACCIDENT DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN OF THE LIGHTING SYSTEM ON THIS MODEL. *TR

I JUST RENTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE FOLLOWING, THE BATTERY HAS NO BOOT OR OTHER INSULATION DEVICE PROTECTING EITHER ITS POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE TERMINALS. THE BATTERY IS LOCATED DOWN IN A WELL IN FRONT OF THE FRONT LEFT TIRE. IT WOULD BE VERY POSSIBLE FOR SOMEONE TO ACCIDENTALLY DROP A METAL TOOL DOWN INTO THAT WELL WHERE IT COULD CAUSE A SHORT-CIRCUIT TO THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL. A SHORT-CIRCUITED AUTO BATTERY IS CAPABLE OF DELIVERING HUNDREDS OF AMPS OF CURRENT, WHICH EQUATES TO AN ELECTRIC ARC WELDER. THE POTENTIAL DANGERS OF THOSE UNPROTECTED BATTERY TERMINALS SHOULD WARRANT A SAFETY INVESTIGATION TO DETERMINE IF A RECALL SHOULD BE INITIATED TO CORRECT THIS APPARENT DESGIN FLAW. *TR
