It happened to my wife with our three kiddos in the car, she was on the freeway doing speed limit 65 when the car just shut off going around a corner at night all of everything shut off including head lights, power steering, and moter it almost through her and kids off the road in the dark ,the wipers shut off whenever they want and the healights off and on without warning, the horn blows unpredictable like , eceleration from bogging down to super fast causes the car to swerve and jerk around unpredictabley the windows sometimes work and sometimes not, once in a while car wont start and or stalls while driving. I'm really worried and scared my wife and kids are going to get hurt or killed or hurt someone else because of these electrical issues. I was so happy to buy my wifey something nice ,safe and sound to drive kiddos back and forth and take me to work and back for it to only turn out super unsafe and unpredictable , we love our crysler 200 still but its unsafe and needs to be addressed as soon as we can before anyone gets hurt or killed, I'll do anything to get help with resolving this issue. It needs help that I cant provide, or afford I'm still happily paying for it crossing my fingers nothing else this scary happens.
The first time this incident occured I was driving in a residential neighborhood and my horn started randomly honking. Over the past few months the horn will randomly start honking and will continously honk for long periods of time. The horn will blast for miles and there is nothing that I can do to make it stop. I have been pulled over because of this and it's terrible driving at night with the horn blaring. The horn does not work regularly anymore. Then my car started shutting off while driving with no warning lights and total loss of anything that is powered (steering, brakes, etc). I have had to pull over on the freeway in unsafe areas, stuck in the middle of intersections with kids in the car also. After shutting off sometimes I am able to start it right away and it will be fine and other times it wont start and after some period of time it will finally start. I replaced the battery and got a new key fob but neither one has fixed these issues. On top of the random horn blaring and car completely shutting off while driving I now have begun having issues with my transmission. It started randomly not shifting while driving causing me to have to pull over and restart the car after about 5 mins. I have had to pull off the freeway to restart my car. The transmission issue was random at first but I haven't been able to drive my car at all because it will NOT shift after 10 MPH. It is automatic with manual option (which I never use) but it will not shift gears in auto mode or manual. The horn blaring is not only embarrassing but the loudness of it is detrimental to a persons hearing. I have read many reports of this particular car having these same issues and the fact that it completey shuts off without warning and loss of power steering,brakes is extremely dangerous especially when traveling on freeways/highways at 70MPH not only for me and my children but the other drivers around me. I have not had it diagnosed or repaired by a mechanic due to the transmission issue.

At first the car started making chirping sound on the right side when ever the car idles. One day I was driving and it shut down while I was driving and the check engine light and electrical light came on, i finance the car and they do the repairs under warranty no electrical repairs. They did repairs to the engine they claim and the problem still persists when the engine shuts off while I’m driving. the brakes lock up and the steering wheel locks up. And you can’t change the gears to park the car. I literally drive with my hand on the emergency break out of anxiety, after it shuts off, the odometer and rpm meter both drop at the same time when it occurs, and after waiting for it to come back on the rpm struggles to go over the “1” I have to wait 20mins for the car to start back up every time. I got the car 03/25/2021 @ 130,800 miles. The car isn’t even at 150,000 miles meaning It’s only driven about 20k miles and this is happening & apparently only had 1 other owner. Not sure how true it is. hI’ve already fixed the suspension issues on the car 670$. The engine repairs were under warranty I want to say over 3k in repairs they claim, the picture I’ve added is of the check engine light it goes away the next day I’ve only been driving the car when I need to so I don’t cause a bigger problem. The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that upon placing the gear shifter into reverse, the contact had to depress the accelerator pedal to the floorboard for the vehicle to move. The contact also stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact had initially taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where he was informed that there was an internal transmission failure. The mechanic referred him to a dealer for assistance. The dealer was contacted, and he was informed that he would receive a callback. The manufacturer had yet to be notified about the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. I HAVE BEEN TIWED TWICE A D STUCK ON SIDE OF THE ROAD 4 TIMES. I'LL BE DRIVING ALONG WHEN EVERYTHING JUST QUITS. ENGINE, POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. ONE TIME I WAS JUST ABOUT TO GET ON A HIGHWAY. COULDN'T GET CAR 100% OFF ROAD. VERY DANGEROUS. WHEN I TRY TO RESTART CAR IT TRYS TO START. I LET GO OF KEY AND CAJR JUST KEEPS TRYING TO START. AFTER BEING TOWED TWICE CAR STARTED RIGHT UP. SO WHEN IT QUITS I GIVE IT ABOUT 10-15 MINUTES AND IT STARTS. GOOGLED AND PEOPLE HAVING SAME PROBLEM. UPON INVESTIGATING I FOUND THAT CHRYSLER, JEEP HAS BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM SINCE 2011 AND DID A RECALL ON THE 2015S. IF THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM, WHY AREN'T THEY FIXING IT??

EVERYWHERE I READ THERE ARE TONS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THIS IS A $1000.00 REPAIR! A FLUSH IS $150-170. WE HAVE ALREADY DONE THIS. I'M READY TO TRADE IT IN BUT I DO LOVE MY CAR. CAR WAS IN MOTION LEAVING A SHOPPING AREA, TURNING RIGHT AND ACCELERATING ONTO A 4 LANE HIGHWAY. AS 45 MPH WAS ACHIEVED, THE CAR DECELERATED AND STALLED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. I LOOKED UP THE ETC INFORMATION AND READ I MAY BE ABLE TO TRY AGAIN TO DRIVE THE CAR. I DID TRY AND ROLLED ON THE SHOULDER FOR ABOUT 1/4 MILE BEFORE HAVING TO ACCELERATE THOUGH AN INTERSECTION. AT THAT POINT, CAR REPEATED THE ABOVE FAILURE AND STALLED. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN AND COAST INTO A PARKING LOT. THE CAR WAS TOWED. WHILE WAITING ON THE TOW, I READ SEVERAL REPORTS OF THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRING IN THIS MODEL VEHICLE, OFTEN WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE OR IN OTHER DANGEROUS LOCATIONS LIKE AN INTERSECTION. THIS FAILURE HAPPENED WITH NO WARNING - NO SPUTTERING, HESITATION OR WARNING LIGHTS UNTIL THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THIS FAILURE COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. THIS IS RIDICULOUS, IT IS A KNOWN COMMON PROBLEM THAT THE HEATING CORE IN THESE CHRYSLER 200 ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOES NOT WORK...IT BLOWS OUT COLD AIR. TEMPERATURES ARE NOW BELOW FREEZING. I DO NOT SEE FAIRNESS THAT ANY OWNERS HAVE TO SPEND A GRAND OR MORE REPLACING SOMETHING THAT OBVIOUSLY WAS MALFUNCTIONING IN MOST OF THEIR VEHICLES & MANY COMPLAINTS (INCLUDING MINE) HAVE BEEN SENT TO CHRYSLER. THIS HAS BEEN ON AN ISSUE NOW SINCE THE SEASON CHANGED & IT IS COLD. I DO NOT HAVE A GRAND TO SPEND NOR DO I HAVE WARRANTY ANYMORE .

I WAS NEARLY REAR ENDED BY A CITY BUS. THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP THAT THE CAR WAS TOWED TO STATES THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE 200 V6.

A FEW WEEKS AGO, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, LEFT ME STRANDED, AND WITHOUT A CAR FOR TEN DAYS. IT SEEMS THAT CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF A DRUM ISSUE WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE AND IN FACT HAS MANUFACTURED A SPECIFIC 'REPAIR KIT' FOR JUST THIS SCENARIO. THIS REPAIR COST ME OVER $2,600, INCLUDING A THREE DAY CAR RENTAL FOR A PERIOD WHERE I COULD NO LONG BEG RIDES TO WORK AND HAD TO RENT A CAR AT MY OWN EXPENSE. ATTACHED ARE THE REPAIR AND RENTAL CAR BILLS. IN MY 40 YEARS OF CAR OWNERSHIP, INCLUDING SEVERAL NEW CARS, I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH SIGNIFICANT ISSUE BEING EXPERIENCE IN A VEHICLE WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE, 61,800, ON A WELL AND REGULARLY MAINTAINED VEHICLE. THEREFORE, I RESPECTFULLY REQUEST THAT YOUR ADMINISTRATION REVIEW THIS INCIDENT AND RECORD THEM AS A PART OF A LARGER CASE DESIGNED TO ENCOURAGE CHRYSLER 'DO THE RIGHT THING' AND INITIATE A RECALL (SILENT OR PUBLIC) TO CORRECT THIS KNOWN TRANSMISSION ISSUE.

AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT THE AUTO SHOP TOLD ME THE PROBLEM IS, WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I HIT THE GAS AND THE CAR CLUNKERS AND JERKS LIKE A MANUAL CAR WHEN I'M JUST LIGHTLY PRESSING ON THE GAS. THE CAR DOESN'T EVEN HAVE 52,000 MILES. I'VE HAD IT LESS THAN A YEAR AND HALF THE TIME IT'S BEEN IN AND OUT OF REPAIR SHOPS. *TR
I HAVE REPORTED IN THE PAST IN REGARD TO OUR 2012 CHRYSLER 200 WITH 3.6 V6 ENGINE OF EPISODES OF PMU SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEED. THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY STILL COVERED THE VEHICLE WHEN WE FIRST EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM WE NOW ARE OVER 60,000 MILES AS CHRYSLER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM YET. THE ENGINE QUIT WHILE DRIVING (3 TIMES ADDITIONAL TIMES), AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. WE WERE ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY , WITHOUT POWER STEERING AND BRAKES; ALL COMPUTER SUPPORT SYSTEMS FAILED, BUT ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS STILL WORKED. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN CHECKED 4 TIMES AFTER EACH OF THE STALLING EPISODES, THE PMU COMPUTER SHOWS NO CODES (PER CHRYSLER AND THE DEALER) THERE IS NO PROBLEM TO FIX. I HAVE TALKED TO CHRYSLER FIAT BUT THE DEALER ANI I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RECEIVE ANY SERVICE OR SUGGESTION IN RESOLVING THIS PMU PROBLEM. IT FEELS LIKE THEY ARE NOT CONCERNED THAT THERE IS A GREAT SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH. THERE SHOULD BE SOME INFORMATION AVAILABLE, AS THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM THAT HAVE BEEN ONGOING FOR MANY MODELS WITH THE 3.6 V-6 ENGINE AND OVER A NUMBER OF YEARS, WHICH CHRYSLER HAS ISSUED CUSTOMER SERVICE NOTICES TO DEALERS AND REPLACED PMU. VARIOUS ATTEMPTS TRIED TO RESOLVE THIS HAZARDOUS CONDITION HAVE INCLUDED REPLACING THE POWERTRAIN MODULE, CAMSCOPE REPLACEMENT, MONITORING THE ON BOARD WITH A COPILOT COMPUTER-WHICH ALSO SHOWED NO CODES. THE DEALER DID SAY THAT CHRYSLER SUGGESTED AN ADDITIONAL MODULE BE ADDED TO THE ON BOARD COMPUTER, BUT NONE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS RETURNED A THIRD OR MORE TIMES AS PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS WERE UNSUCCESSFUL AND APPEARED TO GIVE UP. I HAD TO CUT ACROSS 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO EXIT. I DROVE IT TO MY FRIEND'S HOUSE ABOUT 2 MILES AWAY AND LEFT IT. UNFORTUNATELY I HAD TO DRIVE HOME, AND TO/FROM WORK TODAY. I CALLED THE DEALER FROM WORK, AND SCHEDULED TO DROP IT OFF THE NEXT MORNING SINCE THAT WAS THEIR NEXT AVAILABILITY. THE GUY SAID HE'LL HAVE TO KEEP IT UNTIL THE PROBLEM HAPPENS AGAIN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHRYSLER 200. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 16-22 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CHANGING GEARS AS IT WAS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VERY DAY THEY PICKED THE VEHICLE UP, IT STALLED IN THE ENTRANCE WAY. THE DEALER CLAIMED, THE VEHICLE RAN OUT OF GAS. AS HER SON DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME, HE NOTICED WHEN COASTING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD KICK BACK. THE MECHANIC STATED THE JERK/KICK WAS FROM THE ENGINE SHIFTING GEARS. THE KICKING WOULD GO AWAY, WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS PRESSED. WHEN HER SON TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT AND THEN STRAIGHTENED IT OUT, BY TURNING THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. HE PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. HE TRIED TO RE-START THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE ENGINE WOULD REV UP TIGHT UNTIL IT WAS ABOUT TO START, BUT WOULD IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY FOUND A CODE, BUT IT HAD NOTHING TO WITH THE PROBLEM, THAT WAS BEING EXPERIENCED. UPDATED 01/16/13

THIS CAR WAS BOUGHT NEW WITH APPROX 300 MILES BROUGHT FROM A DEALER'S INVENTORY IN KOKOMO, IN TO ONE IN NORTHERN KENTUCKY, WHERE IT WAS BOUGHT 11 MAY ,2012..IT HAD BEEN ON THE PREVIOUS DEALER'S LOT, AS PART OF INVENTORY, I BELIEVE SINCE SEP,2011. IN TOTAL IT HAS STALLED WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT 2 SEPARATE TIMES..TWICE IT HAS EITHER QUIT WHILE SLOWING OR DOWNSHIFTED CAUSING QUITE A VIOLENT THROW FORWARD OF PERSONS IN THEIR SEATS WHILE AT A RELATIVELY SLOW SPEED COMING TO A STOP...IN THE OLD DAYS IT WOULD BE THE JERK YOU GET WHILE POPPING A CLUTCH TO GET A CAR STARTED WITH A BAD BATTERY.. THE THIRD TIME IT STALLED WAS BACKING OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY...WE ARE NOW APPROACHING 1000 TOTAL MILES ON THE CAR WITH LESS THAN A MONTH OF OWNERSHIP...MADE FIRST VISIT TO A DEALER SERVICE 30 MAY 2012,..PCM CODE WAS UPDATED,BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM..HAVE HAD ONE JERKY DOWNSHIFT SINCE THEN ..THIS HAS BEEN THE RECURRING THEME OF MANY OF THESE INSTANCES WRITTEN UP ON BLOGS CONCERNING THIS MODEL OVER LAST 2 YEARS.. SIDE NOTE..THIS CAR HAS REMOTE START CAPABILITY ON THE KEY FOB..I NOTICED A RECALL LAST YEAR FOR SOME VEHICLES WHERE THEY NOTICED THE CIRCUIT BOARD INSIDE A FOB HAD VIBRATED LOOSE, AND SOMEHOW WAS SENDING SIGNALS TO SOME COMPONENT IN THE CAR WHICH WAS CAUSING IT TO STOP...IE. NO CODES ASSOCIATED WITH A MALFUNCTION LIKE THAT...MIGHT BE SOMETHING TO LOOK AT TOO. TWICE ALSO, THE HINT OF AN ELECTRICAL SMELL HAS BEEN DETECTED...SAME SMELL I EXPERIENCED WHEN THE PCM ON MY 1993 FORD VAN COOKED ITSELF A COUPLE YEARS AGO..AT FIRST I WROTE IT OFF AS A NEW CAR THING..BUT COMBINE THAT WITH PRESENT AND PAST EXPERIENCES...WELL, THE CONNECTION MAY NOT BE COINCIDENTAL. *TR
