I own a 2013 Chrysler 200. While parked at a gas station the front driver’s headrest deployed without warning. I contacted a dealer where I was informed that the headrest needed to be replaced out of pocket. I was informed that the vehicle no longer qualified to be serviced under the recall. Mileage was around 135,000 when this occurred.

Active Headrest system deployed without collision on the passenger side. Could have impacted passenger and caused serious head injury. Vehicle was taken to dealer and directed me to Chryslers customer hotline. They were reluctant to do anything and were trying to put the blame on me. They said they would call back in the next 2-3 business days to examine the vehicle after much back and forth. There were no warning signs that the headrest would deploy and no prior notice from the manufacture.

I was driving home and while stopped at a light, the passenger headrest popped off its frame without being triggered by a collision or other event. Researching online, it seems this is the same issue that many others have had with the Active Head Restraint deploying randomly due to a failed piece of plastic used in the design.

The Active Headrest Restraint (AHR) failed. It deployed without cause and was inspected by the dealer. The issue was a small piece of plastic used in the manufacturing process. My wife was driving the car and out of nowhere a loud noise and she was struck in the back of the head. Luckily, she was driving at a slower speed and no other cars were around, she nearly went completely into the other lane. Had other cars been on the road, there would have been an accident. We took the car to the dealership when it happened with the passenger headrest a couple of years ago and the guy told us he ordered the parts to fix it, but it would take six months. We went back and he no longer works there an never ordered any parts. Since only my wife drives this car, we just let it go about the passenger headrest and moved on. I believe this is in regards to recalls S61 & T56. Both headrests are deployed and cannot be reset. To make matters worse, now the airbag warning light is illuminated at all times. An issue with airbags can be very serious and very dangerous if not addressed. After speaking on the phone with FCA customer care, I was told this was fixed in 2014 (2-3 years before the recall was issued) & that it was out of warranty. I do not believe it was fixed, maybe someone inspected the car, but it was not repaired. The dealer wants to charge me $1,000 to replace the headrests and that is something I cannot do. The recall site states "Safety recalls include any problem encountered with an FCA US LLC product related to the safe operation of the vehicle or the safety of the occupants. FCA US LLC will correct the problem, at no charge, even if the vehicle is out of warranty and you are not the original owner." this clearly does not matter to Chrysler. I have no other choice but to drive the vehicle with the airbag warnings on. I am hoping you can help. This is my last resort. It has not been inspected by the manufacturer and there were no warning lights prior to this.

While driving, my driver seat headrest deployed. There was no collision to activate the headrest to deploy. It did so spontaneously. This could have caused a major accident due to me being startled. I am concerned for my daughter’s safety and mine. There were no recalls for the headrests reported in my vehicle. There was no indication that the headrests in my vehicle would be an issue. I will be taking the vehicle to CarMax, where I purchased it and to the Chrysler dealership to seek a solution

The active headrest restraint system deployed for no reason in the passenger side headrest while driving down the road at 35 mph. It sounded like a gunshot! The passenger was hit in the back of the head but thankfully not injured. I took a picture of it and my son told me that's a safety feature in case you get rear ended, which didn't even happen because I was still driving when and after that happened with no cars in front of or behind me. There was and is still no warning lights indicating any type of problem with anything.

Engine failure, speed control doesn't work, car keeps cutting off, does not pick up speed, jerks really bad, shifts gears by it self at times, air bags are recalled, the car has been at the chrysler dealership for over 6 months they keep saying different things are wrong with it not sure completely what the issues are just know a few. I was told the car is still jerking and cutting off which was the problem when I brought the car in they are charging me almost $800 for work done and was promised the car would be fixed but the car still has the same exact issues from the moment I brought it in. And being told it is still not drivable after being worked in by Chrysler mechanics for over 6 months.

MY HEADRESTS WERE REPLACED DUE TO A RECALL HOWEVER, ONCE THEY WERE REPLACED MY CHECK AIRBAG LIGHT HAS COME ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF. I WAS BRUSHED OFF AND TOLD THAT IT WOULD TURN OFF AFTER A DAY OR SO. IT HAS NOT AND NOW I'M BEING TOLD (BY THE DEALERSHIP) THAT I CAN BRING IT IN HOWEVER, I'LL BE CHARGED $500.00 TO REPAY AND REPLACE. I HAD NO ISSUES OR INDICATION PRIOR TO MY HEADREST BEING REPLACED LEADING ME TO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS NO FAULT OF MY OWN. I WAS SEVERELY INJURED SINCE MY SEATBELTS FAILED TO RESTRAIN ME AND NONE OF MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. HOWEVER, MONTHS AFTER VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOLLOWING DEER COLLISION THE AIRBAG SPONTANEOUSLY DEPLOYED AND I SUFFERED SECONDARY INJURY. VEHICLE RUNNING WILL INTERMITTENTLY DEAD SHORT TO GROUND. THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF UNEXPECTEDLY IN THIS CONDITION AND THE BATTERY AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS COMPLETELY SHORTED AND NONFUNCTIONAL. IN THIS CONDITION I REMOVED THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO THE ALTERNATOR AND VOLTAGE WAS RESTORED. REPLACED THE CABLE AND OBSERVED THE SHORT CONDITION AGAIN. IT IS VERY DISTURBING THAT THE SCOPE OF THIS ISSUE WAS NOT ADEQUATELY DEFINED INITIALLY. I HAVE ESCALATED THIS TO FCA DIRECTLY AND WAS PROVIDED WITH A REFERENCE NUMBER OF: 76150991, THEY HAVE SAID THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND THE REPAIR IS OUT-OF-POCKET UNTIL CHRYSLER ENGINEERING TO THE NHTSA MAKES A DIFFERENT DECISION. I TRULY BELIEVE THERE ARE SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO WILL UNKNOWINGLY REPLACE THE BATTERY AND START DRIVING AGAIN, PUTTING THEIR LIVES AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD AT RISK.

THE SALESMAN THEN TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A INSPECTION STICKER ON THE WINDSHIELD AND TOLD HIM THERE WASN'T AND I WAS GOING TO BRING THE CAR BACK BECAUSE IT WAS ILLEGAL TO SELL A CAR WITHOUT A INSPECTION STICKER. BUT HE REFUSED TO TAKE THE CAR BACK AND SAID TO ME IF I WAS TO BRING THE CAR BACK THAT THE POLICE WOULD THERE AND NOT TO BRING CAR BACK. WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2013 IT WAS CONSIDERED USED AT THE DEALER AND SOON AFTER PURCHASING IT THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT WOULD NOT UNBUCKLE WHEN THE PASSENGER PRESSED THE RED BUTTON TO UNLATCH THE BELT. QUITE A FEW TIMES THE PASSENGER HAD TO LITERALLY CLIMB OUT FROM UNDER THE SEAT BELT TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND IF IT WAS STILL LATCHED I REALLY HAD TO PULL HARD TO GET IT TO UNBUCKLE. SOMETIMES ON LONG TRIPS I WOULD MAKE THE PASSENGER SIT IN THE BACK SEAT BECAUSE THIS BECAME QUITE AN ISSUE. SOMETIMES IT WOULD UNBUCKLE AS IT SHOULD HAVE AND OTHER TIMES I FOUGHT WITH IT SO HARD I NEVER THOUGHT IT WOULD UNBUCKLE. OF COURSE THIS WOULD HAPPEN WHEN THE CAR WAS STATIONARY BUT GETTING READY TO DRIVE WITH EVERYONE PUTTING ON THEIR SEAT BELTS AND IT WOULD ONLY BE THE OCCUPANT SEAT BELT THAT WOULD DO THIS WHEN I PARKED AND EVERYONE WAS DEPARTING THE VEHICLE. THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT UNBUCKLE. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS PROBLEM WITHOUT HAVING A SOLUTION ON OR NEAR THE RECALL DATE OF SEPTEMBER 13, 2016.. I HAVE BEEN CHECKING THE RECALLS.MOPAR.COM SITE AND THERE IS STILL NO SOLUTION. IF THERE WAS ANY KIND OF ACCIDENT WHERE THE OCCUPANT COULD NOT GET THE SEAT BELT UNBUCKLED AND THE AIRBAG NOT DEPLOYING IT COULD BE SEROUS IF NOT DEADLY. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL RECALL NOTICE AND A RECENT UPDATE STATING THE THEY STILL DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. WHO SENDS OUT A RECALL NOTICE WITHOUT A SOLUTION? THAT WORRIED ME RIGHT AWAY. I FEEL THEY SHOULD HAVE GIVEN THE PEOPLE THAT RECEIVED THIS RECALL NOTICE A SOLUTION RIGHT AWAY THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT HAVE MIGHT HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR EVEN DIED BECAUSE OF THIS. I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE TO WORK AND THEY WERE STILL ON WHEN I MADE IT TO WORK. WHEN I CAME OUT FOR LUNCH BREAK AND STARTED MY VEHICLE THEY WERE OFF, BUT THEY CONTINUE TO PERIODICALLY COME ON AND STAY ON EVEN WITH BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATBELTS BUCKLED. I CALLED HUFFINES OF LEWISVILLE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT INDICATORS WERE PROBABLY RELATED TO THE CURRENT RECALL HOWEVER THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT REPAIR MY VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE PARTS FROM THE RECALL BUT IF I WANTED TO BRING MY VEHICLE IN AND PAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND THE REPAIRS THEY WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 13V282000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND STATED THAT THE PART NEEDED WAS UNAVAILABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO INFORM WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. DJR

I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON SUNDAY JUNE 8, 2014. MY SON AND I WERE CROSSING AT AN INTERSECTION AFTER STOPPING AT A FLASHING RED LIGHT HALF WAY THROUGH THE INTERSECTION WE WERE HIT BY AN SUV MOVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE VEHICLE STRUCK US IN THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AT FULL SPEED KNOCKING US ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE INTERSECTION AND OVER THE CURB BEFORE WE CAME TO A STOP AT NO POINT DURING THE CRASH DID THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOY. MY SON WAS DRIVING AND I WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT BOTH OF US ENDED UP IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM. HIM FOR HIS UPPER BACK AND ME FOR MY LOWER BACK AND MY LEG WHERE THE DOOR WAS BENT IN AND SLAMMED INTO MY LEG. *TR
