The contact owns a 2014 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving 50 MPH on the highway, the vehicle stalled, and the vehicle turned off independently. The contact was able to coast over to the right side of the road, and attempted to restart the vehicle, and the vehicle started as intended. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to AAA where it was diagnosed and determined that the totally integrated power module (TIPM) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the horn was connected to the module. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 106,000.

the automobile will shut down when driving uncommanded, when it does this you lose power steering and braking and sometimes locks the steering wheel. the horn sounds uncommanded randomly. the windshield wipers will intermittently not work. have researched the problem and have found this issue is common, with this year and make of vehicle. i have contacted the manufacturer and they have been no help. they state they know there is an issue but they do not have parts to fix the issue. when it shuts down you do not get any lights or notice on the dashboard. this puts the driver and passengers at risk and other drivers. the manufacturer stated on the phone its basically my problem and since they do not have parts to repair it i'm on my own, on finding the part, most likely refurbished

The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continue driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken back to the residence. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
While driving this vehicle the car would shut down while driving, no ability to brake, to steer. The car would start back up, but the same issues would happen, making it extremely dangerous to drive. This happened on several different occasions. One of my issues with this problem is that Chrysler had the same issue with the 2015 Chrysler 200 and the 2015 was recalled. If you look at sites other than Chrysler, customers had reported the same problem with the 2014 and it looks like Chrysler just swept it under the rug. The dealership is saying that the TIPM system needs to be replaced on my car, for a cost of $3000.00 for a know problem.
Horn didn’t work and car stalled in the middle of highway. Part (clock spring)inside horn was replaced but horn still went off by itself or didn’t work. Entire fuse box ( integrated power module)that controlled horn replaced to solve problem. It has been determined that this was also cause of car stalling out.
The vehicle stalled out while driving on the interstate. No warnings and no engine lights came on. We were slowing down to a stop because of construction. The car is available if inspection is requested. I had the fuel system serviced with fuel pump replaced. It is unknown if the mechanic was able to confirm the stall out. I picked the vehicle up today and it seemed to run smoothly, then it stalled out driving thru an intersection without warning.
My wife and daughters almost died in a car accident due to the apparent failure of this vehicle. We were driving on an HWY at night and the car just died out of nowhere. Dash started to flash and just died. We initially thought that it was the mechanic that had just fixed the car but after an investigation concluded that it was not anything they could have done. My family sustained life-threatening injuries and almost did not make it out alive as thee were rear-ended by a truck. Then on top of it when they were hit no airbags deployed which is what caused the injuries to be so much worse. After reading multiple complaints on NHTSA about the same issue for the same year and make I am baffled that this issue has not been addressed. I almost lost my family.

I RECEIVED RECALL ALERT FOR CODE V51 (RE-PROGRAM POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) OVER A YEAR AGO (DEC 2019) AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN GIVING THE RUN AROUND. I'VE CALLED NUMEROUS TIMES TO INQUIRE ABOUT GETTING IT FIXED AND EVERY TIME I'M TOLD THE MANAGER WILL START MAKING CALLS TO OWNERS FOR THE RECALL BUT NO SUCH THING HAS OCCURRED.
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE BUSY HIGHWAY MY CAR SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, CAR TURNED OFF AND BRAKES LOCKED. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I COULD OF GOTTEN IN A HORRIBLE CAR ACCIDENT. WHEN MECHANIC CHECKED IT OUT HE SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT AND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN CHECK AND IT SAYS NO RECALLS.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. AT ABOUT 18,000 MILES, A LARGE PUDDLE OF OIL SUDDENLY FORMED UNDERNEATH MY CAR ON THE GARAGE FLOOR. THE DEALER IDENTIFIED THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK AS THE ENGINE OIL COOLER/HOUSING MOUNTED ON TOP OF THE ENGINE. THE SOLUTION WAS TO REPLACE THE WHOLE UNIT. THE EXACT SOURCE OF THE LEAK WAS NOT IDENTIFIED, BUT REPLACING THE UNIT SOLVED THE PROBLEM. AN INTERNET SEARCH INDICATES OTHERS HAVE HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THEIR PENTASTAR ENGINES (CHRYSLER, JEEP, AND DODGE VEHICLES). HOWEVER, THE DEALER HAD DONE ALL BUT ONE FILTER REPLACEMENT, AND THE ONE FILTER THAT WAS NOT REPLACED BY THEM WAS INDEED THE CORRECT FILTER BECAUSE IT WAS STILL IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME THE DEALER DID THE REPLACEMENT. THE UNIT REPLACEMENT COST WAS ESTIMATED AT $340, BUT LOCATION OF THE REPAIR MEANS THAT IT TAKES AN EXPERIENCED MECHANIC ABOUT 3 HOURS TO PERFORM THE REPAIR. ALTHOUGH THE REPAIR WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, IT CONCERNS ME THAT SUCH A FUNDAMENTAL COMPONENT WOULD BREAK AFTER ONLY 18K MILES AND REQUIRES SUCH AN EXTENSIVE REPAIR EFFORT.

I BOUGHT MY CAR IN MARCH 2014 WITH ONLY A FEW MILES ON IT. I HAD MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON MANY TIMES AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS MY GAS CAP. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME TO CALL AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TRIED TO EXPLAIN TO THEM THAT THIS HAPPENS AND IT WILL LAST A FEW MIN TO A FEW DAYS. I WAS TOLD WELL THAT?S ODD YOU DON'T HAVE ANY RECALLS OR ANY COMPLAINTS ON YOUR CAR. I EVEN ASKED THEM ABOUT A REPLACEMENT PART THAT I CAME ACROSS THAT WAS DONE TO MY ARE RIGHT BEFORE I BOUGHT IT AND THEY TOLD ME THEY HAVE NO RECORD. SURE IS FUNNY THEY DID THE REPLACEMENT ON IT. MY MOTHER AND SISTER WERE ALSO PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE.THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED ON 10/29/2014 AS CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED FROM THE DEALERSHIP WITH 5846 MILES & PASSED INSPECTION ON 10/30/2014. I ASSUMED POSSESSION OF THE CAR ON 10/30/2014 AFTER IT PASSED INSPECTION. THE CAR HAD 8059 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THERE WERE NO ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE MY PURCHASE. I WAS QUITE STARTLED WHEN THE VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY & STARTED TO DECELERATE IN SPEED. THE SPEED LIMIT ON THE FREEWAY WAS 70 MPH. ALTHOUGH I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR, THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO DECREASE RAPIDLY. I REMEMBERED SEEING MY SPEED DROP AS LOW AS 19 MPH ON THE FREEWAY; A VERY SCARY THING. THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO LOCKED UP, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STEER THE VEHICLE TO SAFETY. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS OR BATTERY LIGHTS INDICATING ANYTHING WAS WRONG. LUCKILY, NO ONE WAS HURT & THERE WAS A REST STOP NEARBY THAT I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO AND INTO A PARKING SPOT. THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY POWERED OFF AS THE CAR MADE IT TO THE PARKING SPOT & WAS UNABLE TO RESTART AFTER THAT. THE ENGINE WAS CHECKED, BUT NOTHING WAS VISIBLY WRONG WITH THE CAR TO CAUSE THE CAR TO MALFUNCTION THE WAY IT DID. WHILE WAITING FOR THE TOW TRUCK, MAYBE 45 MINUTES LATER FROM THE APPROXIMATE TIME WHEN THE VEHICLE MALFUNCTIONED, MY DAD MENTIONED THAT HE WAS COLD, SO I TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AGAIN TO TURN THE HEATER ON. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. MY SISTER AND I DECIDED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AROUND THE REST STOP PARKING LOT, AND TURNED IT OFF AGAIN TO SEE IF IT WOULD RESTART. IT RESTARTED WITH NO PROBLEM AND DROVE LIKE NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. EVEN AFTER THE CAR RESTARTED, THERE WERE NOT ANY WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. THIS SITUATION WAS VERY SCARY BECAUSE IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A FATAL ACCIDENT. *TR

APPROACHING A TURNPIKE EXIT, THE ENGINE CUT OFF AND STOPPED WHILE DRIVING. YESTERDAY WHILE PARKED AND SUPPOSEDLY ENGINE TURNED OFF, WHEN I RETURNED I NOTED THE ENGINE STILL SEEMED TO BE RUNNING EVEN THOUGH I TURNED IT OFF. I NOTED WHEN READING ABOUT THE NEW GENERAL MOTORS RECALLS, I.E. CHEVROLET, IF THIS HAPPENS TURN THE ENGINE ON AND THEN OFF. THIS DID WORK AND THE ENGINE DEFINITELY TURNED OFF. *TR

SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING MY 2014 CHRYSLER 200 3.6 THIS YEAR I NOTICED PROBLEMS. WHEN DRIVING IN SPEEDS OF 10-35MPH IT WOULD OCCASIONALLY JERK/LUNGE WHILE SHIFTING INTO GEAR. I WAS TOLD THIS IS NORMAL. IT DIDN'T HAPPEN OFTEN OR ALL THE TIME. THEN THIS WEEK BEFORE WE LEFT FOR VACATION WE HAD THE DEALERSHIP CHANGE THE OIL AND CHECK ALL THE FLUID LEVELS. I HAVE 8400 MILES ON MY CAR. WHILE ON VACATION WE WERE DOING A LOT MORE STOP AND GO DRIVING. THE JERKING AND LUNGING WAS HAPPENING AGAIN, AND THEN OUR ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE ARE OUT OF STATE AND NOW HAVE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THIS. THE CAR IS RUNNING FINE OTHERWISE, THE OIL LEVEL IS GOOD AND THE GAS CAP IS ON. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO AT THIS POINT. HOWEVER, SOUNDS LIKE THIS JERKING/ LUNGE ISSUE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND THERE HAS BEEN NO FIX YET! GREAT! *TR

I DID NOT EVEN REALIZE THAT THE ENGINE HAD STOPPED RUNNING UNTIL AFTER I TRIED TO USE THE STEERING AND BRAKES. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. PASSERSBY HELPED PUSH IT TO THE CURB. *TR
