The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light would remain illuminated. Occasionally the lights on the dashboard and inside the vehicle would randomly blink off and on. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. During the diagnostic test, the electrical fuses continued to malfunction. No further information was available. The manufacturer was not yet notified. The failure mileage was 137,000.

WAS BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACE. HAD FOOT ON BRAKE PUT CAR IN REVERSE THE MOTOR REVVING FLEW BACK WHILE FOOT WAS STILL ON BRAKE. I PURCHASED IT IN 2013 THE ENGINE REVS IN BOTH REVERSE AND DRIVING. LOW OIL LEVELS, OIL LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALWAYS ON. KEPT TAKING THE CAR IN TO HAVE IT CHECKED, WE WERE TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG, JUST KEEP ADDING OIL. THAT MADE NO SENSE AS THERE HAD TO BE A REASON FOR THIS. WAS FINALLY DIAGNOSED AS OIL SLUDGE AND ENGINE WAS DESTROYED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO, BECAUSE IT CAUSED THE LIGHTS TO BE ON FOR SO LONG, I NOW NEED TO HAVE THE COMPUTER REPLACED THAT CONTROLS THE SENSORS FOR THOSE.

I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE WIRELESS IGNITION NODE (WIN) MODULE, WHICH CAN EXHIBIT A BINDING CONDITION OF THE SOLENOID LATCH. IT'S POSSIBLE THAT THE KEY CAN BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH PRIOR TO PLACING THE SHIFTER IN "PARK," WHICH CAN CAUSE UNINTENDED VEHICLE MOVEMENT. THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE YEAR 2010 MODEL, BUT I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE 2005. MY CAR WAS STATIONARY. THE DASHLIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PULL THE KEY OUT AND THE RADIO WOULD STILL BE PLAYING AFTER I OPENED THE DOOR. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY AND THE ENGINE WOULD STILL BE RUNNING. NOW I CAN'T GET THE CAR TO START AT ALL, THE KEY IS NOT ENGAGING BUT THE DASH INSTRUMENT LIGHTS ARE STILL ON, I HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY SO THE BATTERY WOULD NOT LOSE POWER.

MY 2005 300C HAS BEEN STALLING SINCE JANUARY 2014, I LATER FOUND OUT DUE TO A FAULTY FUEL TANK. I HAD MULTIPLE INSTANCES OF STALLING AND ENGINE SHUTTERING HARD, AND VERY HARD RESTARTS ALMOST GETTING T-BONED TWO TIMES DURING THE STALL AND RESTART PROCESS. WHILE ON THE WAITING LIST FOR A NEW TANK, MY HEMI ENGINE BLEW UP COSTING 6K FOR A NEW MOTOR. THIS ENGINE WAS METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED WITH RECORDS, I CALLED CHRYSLER AND ASKED THEIR ENGINEERS TO INVESTIGATE "IF THE ENGINE FAILURE COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY THE TANK HYDRO LOCKING". AFTER MANY CALLS TO UNHELPFUL PEOPLE, SOME OF WHOM DID NOT EVEN KNOW ABOUT THE TANK ISSUE, THE SUPERVISOR REFUSED TO ESCALATE MY REQUEST TO ENGINEERING AND SUMMARILY CLOSED THE CASE, IN SPITE OF HIS EMPLOYEE FIRST TELLING ME TO PROVE IT AND HELPING ME GET A TEAR DOWN QUOTE FROM THE LOCAL DEALER FOR A ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS. SO NOW THEY SAY EVEN IF I PROVE IT, THEY WILL NOT INVESTIGATE IF TANKS ARE THE CAUSE OF ENGINE FAILURES AND THEY CLOSED MY CASE. MY DAUGHTER & I ARE DRIVING MY CAR, A 2005 CHRYSLER 300C WITH THE V8 ENGINE AND EXPERIENCING A STALLING PROBLEM AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS. UPON LEAVING THE GAS STATION AND MERGING INTO LOCAL TRAFFIC THE CAR THEN STALLS CAUSING A DRAMATIC LOSS OF SPEED AND LOSS OF CONTROL. FOR MY DAUGHTER SHE WAS LUCKY THAT THERE WAS A DRIVEWAY (FOR ANOTHER GAS STATION) AT THE CORNER SO SHE ROLLED INTO ANOTHER GAS STATION WITHOUT HITTING ANY CARS AND CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.THE SAME PROBLEM REAPPEARED WHEN NEXT TIME, I LEFT THE GAS STATION AFTER FILLING UP AND THE CAR STALLED AFTER I TRAVELED ABOUT 200 FEET AND HAD JUST MERGED INTO TRAFFIC ON A BUSY LOCAL ROAD. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AFTER IT STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS ROAD. THE CAR IS NOW STALLING EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK AND I WILL BE TAKING IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALER TO GET FIXED. THIS PROBLEM WAS INVESTIGATED BY THE NHTSA (REFERENCE CASE PE3-016) THEY FOUND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY FILLING UP THE CAR WITH HIGHER ETHANOL GAS WHICH WAS CAUSING THE GAS SHUT-OFF FLOAT LOCATED INSIDE THE GAS TANK TO SWELL AND STICK IN THE OPEN POSITION WHICH ALLOWED FUEL TO ENTER A PURGE LINE. CHRYSLER RESPONDED BY EXTENDING FUEL TANK WARRANTIES TO153,817 VEHICLES, NAMELY THE V8 VERSIONS ON THE CHRYSLER 300S, DODGE CHARGERS AND DODGE MAGNUMS FOR THE 2006 MODEL YEAR. THE CAR STALLS OUT AT SLOW SPEEDS AND THIS IS OCCURRING SHORTLY AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK OR WHEN THE TANK IS ALMOST EMPTY. IF YOU DO A GOOGLE SEARCH ON "300C STALLING" YOU WILL LITERALLY SEE 1000'S OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE. THE FIX SEEMS TO BE "REPLACE THE GAS TANK" ACCORDING TO THE DEALER/CHRYSLER. IF THIS IS THE CASE AND IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE, WHY ISN'T CHRYSLER REPLACING EVERYONE'S TANKS. I'VE BEEN IN SEVERAL SITUATIONS THAT WERE NEAR MISS ACCIDENTS ENTERING/EXITING A PARKING LOT INTO BUSY TRAFFIC OR MERGING ONTO A FREEWAY WHERE THE CAR STALLED AND I LOST ALL POWER TO THE STEERING AND BRAKES. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE I OWNED THE CAR (WHICH I BOUGHT BRAND NEW) BUT AT THE TIME I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS JUST BASIC VAPOR LOCK. AS IT TURNS OUT, THAT'S NOT THE CASE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS YOU CAN IMAGINE WHAT COULD HAPPEN IF YOU TRY TO ENTER TRAFFIC FROM A PARKING LOT OR TRY TO MERGE ONTO A FREEWAY FROM AN ONRAMP AND THE CAR STALLS OUT. CHRYSLER ISN'T STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, IT SEEMS ONLY THE ORIGINAL OR EARLY MODELS OF THE VEHICLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE AND LIKELY ALL OF THEM ARE OUT OF WARRANTY SO THERE'S NO RECOURSE TO THE CONSUMER EXCEPT TO SPEND THE MONEY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE PARTS AND LABOR.
