TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER 300. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO FIRST GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR FAILED AND CAUSED ANTIFREEZE TO ENTER THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.

I STARTING DRIVING FROM THE INTERSECTION THE LIGHT HAD JUST TURNED GREEN. AFTER GETTING OUT OF THE INTERSECTION THE CAR MADE A LOUD NOISE FROM THE REAR AND STOPPED AND WOULD NOT MOVE. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED. MY WORK ASSOCIATE WHO WAS IN THE WITH ME SAID THE CAR SOUNDED LIKE I HAD JUST LOSS MY REAR-END. MY DAUGHTER (12YRS.) AND I WERE ON THE FREEWAY/CAR POOL LANE (DOUBLE YELLOW LINES) AND THE CAR STALLED/TURNED OFF COMPLETELY. I TRIED NOT TO PANIC BUT I DAUGHTER DID WHEN THE LIGHTS, ENGINE AND NOT TO MENTION THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY HARD TO TURN. AT THIS TIME I HAD TO CROSS OVER THE DOUBLE YELLOW LINE AND CUT OFF A FEW CARS WHO ALL MOST REAR ENDED ME, ALL CARS HONKED AT ME AND MY LITTLE ONE WAS FREAKING OUT. IT TOOK 24 MINUTES TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY BECAUSE IT KEPT STALLING AND WOULDN'T CONTINUE TO STAY ON. THIS IS A VERY UN SAFE SITUATION, I PRAY NO ONE GETS HURT FROM THIS. CAR CONTINUED TO STALL AND TURN OFF AND AT THIS TIME IT'S JUST SITTING BECAUSE OF FUNDS AND JUST FED UP WITH THIS CAR.... NOT MENTION MY PARKING LOCK MECHANISM BROKE LAST MONTH AND MY ENGINE BLOWN DUE TIMINGS CHAIN STRETCHING. THERE WAS AN OIL LEAK AT THE REAR OF VEHICLE AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR AXLE PINION SEAL AND YOKE. ALSO ON THIS DAY THE TRIM PIECE AROUND THE DRIVERS SEAT CAME LOOSE AND THEY REPLACED THE SIX (6) SCREWS THAT HAD FALLEN OUT. NEXT THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR CLIP BROKE AND THEY REPLACED IT. AS OF THIS REPORT, JUNE 6, 2013, BOTH VISOR CLIPS ARE BROKEN. LASTLY, THE CARPET ON THE FLOOR BOARD FRONT PASSENGER SIDE IS COMING UP. 02/17/05, THERE WAS A RECALL ON VEHICLE D29 REPROGRAM PCM AND TCM08-D2-91-82, RECALL ON VEHICLE D28 BATTERY CABLE STUD FASTENERS RECALL D28 INSPECT BULKHEAD STUD 08-D2-81-82 ; RECALL ON VEHICLE D50 RADIATOR ISOLATOR BRACKETS. THE BOLTS WERE BROKEN AND REPLACED WITH RAD SUPPORT BRACKETS 07-30-10-50 07-D5-01-82. I WAS CHARGED 32.05 FOR LABOR, G.O.G., EPA PLUS TAX. 08/24/07, SLACK IN LEFT OUTTER TIE ROD END. THE SEEING OIL LIGHT WAS REPLACED ON 05/22/09 FOR $166.63 AND IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT THE BLEEDER HOUSING (LEAKING) $197; WATER PUMP & THERMOSTAT $854.00. REPLACED THROTTLE BODY ON 07/02/12. THE KEY COMES OUT OF IGNITION SWITCH WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON 8/7/13 . THE ECU REPLACED ON 8/22/12, CAR WOULDN'T GO OVER 25 MPH AND RPM STUCK @ 1000. THE RADIATOR WAS REPLACED ON 05/13/13, HAD A LEAK. THE TIMING CHAIN, WATER PUMP AND PLENUM GASKET WAS REPLACED ON 06/03/13 AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THAT ETC LIGHT ARE STILL FLASHING IN THE DASH. THE REASON "SUPPOSEDLY" NOW IS THAT CHRYSLER ISSUED A BULLETIN FOR MECHANICS TO HAVE CAR OWNERS TO RETURN THE VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AND PAY TO REPLACE THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSORS AND THIS IS AS OF JUNE 6, 2013. I DON'T HAVE ANYMORE MONEY, TIME NOR PATIENCE FOR THIS VEHICLE! OBVIOUSLY, IT IS A LEMON, BY NO STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION. MY 2005 300 HAS HAD MULTI-PROBLEMS SINCE I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW IN 2005. 1ST THE WATER OUT HOUSING HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND CHRYSLER REFUSES TO ADMIT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH IT, THE GEAR SHIFTER ASSEMBLY HAS GONE OUT ON IT AT ONLY 25K, THAT WAS NOT ALLOWING ME TO SHIFT FROM PARK TO ANY GEAR. THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH JUST WENT OUT TODAY, I'M SO SICK OF THIS CAR AND MOST OF ALL SICK OF CHRYSLER NOT ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY OF THIS. THE CONTACT THEN HEARD A LOUD BANG NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD FOLLOWED BY THE ENGINE STALLING A SECOND TIME. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE CONTACT FOUND THE ENGINE BLOCK AND LARGE DEPOSITS OF OIL ON THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER AND THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 78,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER 300 PURCHASED USED IN 2008. HE STATED WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 75 MPH THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD EXPLODING NOISE AND STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HIS INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS FOUND THE ENGINE HAD FAILED. THE MECHANIC STATED THE ENGINE BLEW DUE TO LACK OF LUBRICATION, HOWEVER THERE WAS OIL IN THE ENGINE. THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO DATE. THE FAILURE MILEAGES WAS 57,000 AND CURRENT WAS 57,500. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT LONG TERM AND SYSTEMIC OIL SLUDGE PROBLEMS CAUSING SUDDEN CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURES IN DODGE AND CHRYSLER VEHICLES USING THE 2.7L V6 ENGINE SPANNING FROM APPROX 1998-2005. MY WELL MAINTAINED 2005 CHRYSLER 300 ENGINE FAILED SUDDENLY AND DANGEROUSLY WHILE DRIVING. AND THIS WAS 1 MONTH AFTER PAYING THE CHRYSLER DEALER $850 TO CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND COOLANT AT FACTORY SUGGESTED DATES. WITH ONLY 56,000 MILES AND OIL CHANGED EVERY 5000 MILES (OWNERS MANUAL SUGGESTS 7500) THE CHRYSLER DEALER INITIALLY WANTED OVER $2000 TO FIX AN UNEXPLAINED INTERNAL WATER PUMP LEAK, AND TIMING CHAIN FAILURE. ONLY AFTER HEATED DISCUSSION DID THEY BACK DOWN AND REPAIR IT FOR A $100 DEDUCTIBLE UNDER THE 7/70 DRIVEDRAIN WARRANTY. 2. THE FAILURE, HOW OFTEN IT OCCURS, ITS CONSEQUENCES. SIMPLY USING GOOGLE AND ENTERING "CHRYSLER 2.7L ENGINE FAILURE" LEADS TO HUNDREDS OF REPORTS OF SUSPECTED OIL SLUDGE (DUE TO POOR ENGINE DESIGN AND OIL NOT FLOWING PROPERLY) THAT CAUSES SUDDEN AND DANGEROUS UNEXPLAINED ENGINE FAILURE INVOLVING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. CHRYSLER AND ITS DEALERS FIRST ATTEMPT TO BLAME CUSTOMERS FOR NOT CHANGING THE OIL ENOUGH OR USING THE RIGHT OIL ETC. IN MY CASE MY DEALER SAID "...CHRYSLER IS BEING VERY QUIET ASKING US TO USE ALL NEW PARTS AND NOT GIVING US ALOT OF INFORMATION...". 3. WHAT WAS DONE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE; I.E, PARTS REPAIRED OR REPLACED (AND IF OLD PART IS AVAILABLE). 2005 300 LIMITED HAS A THROTTLE AND ENGINE PROBLEMS. *TS WHEN THE CONSUMER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE HE TOLD THE SALESPERSON ABOUT THE VEHICLE ROUGH IDLE. THE SALESPERSON SAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 1000 MILES TO WORK THE BUGS OUT OF THE ENGINE. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK HE WAS TOLD TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK AND THE PROBLEM WOULD BE FIXED UNDER THE VEHICLES WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER AT 1700 MILES. THE DEALER FLASHED THE COMPUTER BUT THE ROUGH IDLE WAS STILL PRESENT. THE FLASH CREATED A HIGH IDLE, LUNGING AND POPPING SOUND WHEN PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN PARK. THE VEHICLE ALSO SHOOK WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN OVER 30 MPH THE THROTTLE WOULD NOT EASE DOWN WHEN THE CONSUMER FOOT WAS REMOVED FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. I CURRENTLY OWN AN 2005 CHRYSLER 300, WHICH IN TURN I AM NOW HAVING TO REPLACE AN ENTIRE ENGINE. MY CAR RECEIVES REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND IT GAVE ME NO SIGN OF FAILURE. I CONTACTED THE MANUF. FOR ASSISTANCE AND IT WAS A DEAD END, AS WELL AS THE OTHER CONSUMERS COMPLAINT ATTEMPTS. IN MY INVESTIGATION AS WELL AS MANY OTHERS THE OIL PUMP FOR A 2.7 IS TO SMALL FOR THE ENGINE, THEREFORE AS THE MILEAGE COMES TO OR EXCEEDS 60,000ML. THE ENGINE WILL CRASH. AS IN MY CASE I AM NOT THE FIRST OWNER THEREFORE I WAS TOLD BY THE MANUFACT. THAT THEY WOULDN'T GRANT ME ANY ASSISTANCE. HAD TO WAIT UNTIL AFTER CHRISTMAS FOR SERVICE. TOLD BY DEALERSHIP (DODGE COUNTRY, TX) THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE A RENTAL CAR WHICH IS A PART OF THE WARRANTY BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS OPERATIVE AND WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE IF THE AIR BAGS ACCIDENTALLY DEPLOYS WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE PARKED UNTIL 12-30-05 CLOCK SPRING REPLACED A SECOND TIME. 1-18-06 REAR DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW WOULD NOT ROLL DOWN 50% OF THE TIME. LOUD SQUEAKING AND RATTLING SOUND COMING FROM REAR OF VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP HAS ATTEMPTED TO REPROGRAM THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE, CLEAN THE COMBUSTION CHAMBERS, AND REPLACE THE MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR; PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. AFTER THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE OF STALLING I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. I TOOK A VIDEO OF THE ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AS THE DEALERSHIP HAS NEVER BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER RELATIONS AND THEY HAVE STATED THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO SINCE THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE EVEN THOUGH I HAVE SHOWN THE DEALERSHIP THE VIDEO OF THE STALL / NON-START ISSUE. THIS IS MY SECOND NEW CHRYSLER 300 PASSENGER VEHICLE THAT HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN THE CAR IS PUT INTO THE REVERSE POSITION. ONCE, YOU START TO BACK-UP THE CAR CUTS OFF. THE FIRST CAR WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND EXCHANGED FOR A SECOND NEW CHRYSLER 300. THE SAME PROBLEM EXISTS. THE DEALERS MECHANIC SAID THE PROBLEM WAS THE "THROTTLE". I HAVE A 2005 CHRYSLER 300C HEMI. THREE MONTHS AGO, I PUT UNLEADED 87 OCTANE GASOLINE IN THE TANK. I DROVE A FEW BLOCKS AND THE ENGINE STOPPED SUDDENLY IN MID-DRIVE. I HAD A DIFFICULT TIME RESTARTING THE CAR AND WHEN I DID, IT TOOK A FEW SECONDS BEFORE IT WOULD ENGAGE IN GEAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK, AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT THE ENGINE COMPUTERS HAVE TO REAJUST TO THE LOWER OCTANE. SINCE THAT TIME, I HAVE ONLY PUT MID-OCTANE (89 OCTANE). WHENEVER I ALLOW THE TANK TO BE LOWER THAN A QUARTER OF A TANK AND I REFILL WITH 89 IT STILL STALLS IN MID-DRIVE AND HARD TO START WITH THE TRANSMISSION NOT ENGAGING IMMEDIATELY. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE CAR WILL STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHICH COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. *JB
