This is a serious safety concern regarding the shift interlock system on my 2005 Chrysler 300. When the vehicle is in Park, particularly in traffic, and the light turns green, I am forced to lift the coin attachment and manually press the pink interlock just to change gears or accelerate. This creates a dangerous situation where I am unable to move the vehicle promptly, potentially leaving me vulnerable to a rear-end collision. The issue stems from Recall 05V462000, which specifically addresses a shift interlock defect that Chrysler has failed to address despite my repeated attempts to have it repaired. Chrysler has not taken any action to resolve the recall issue, leaving me in a potentially life-threatening situation every time I drive. It is unacceptable that this recall has not been acted upon, and this critical safety defect must be corrected immediately.

The vehicle began to shutter in reverse. This went on for about a week. Transmission fluid level was checked and it was in the normal range. My husband and I were driving it and made a sharp turn to find us in a spot to continue forward and go off a cliff or back up and get out of traffics way. He backed up and we heard a clunk. The car continues to drive forward with no issues but it acts as of it’s in neutral when you put it in reverse. No codes are showing either.

Reverse gear went out after vehicle slipped once, acted as if in neutral when in reverse and pressing gas pedal down but would not move. Had local towing and mechanic shop in Gower Missouri check transmission fluid level in which was found to be a quart low on transmission fluid. Car had been extremely well maintained and all recommended maintenance services completed by previous owners. Able to drive car in all other gears, codes p0007 code appear with no check engine light or any type of warning or indication that a problem was present within my 2005 Chrysler 300 3.5l v6 rwd car with the 42rle transmission My vehicle also has issues occur suddenly regarding front end suspension has death shake and very loud clinking popping banging noises while driving at all speeds. Steering wheel has a weird squeek/creeking noise when turning the wheel at times and feels like steering is loose. Tie rod end and sway link bar on front passenger right side of vehicle is bent opposite direction it is supposed to and car also has higher rpm than normal and shifting at higher rpms. Went into limp mode twice which I reset myself due to having an emergency where I had to drive it. With the suspension and steering issues it causes a safety risk due to sway link and tie rod end breaking causing vehicle to crash and wheel to detach from vehicle. Transmission gear loss due to transmission fluid leaking and gear linkage issues causes safety risk due to the event of reversing to move out of the way and to avoid potential harm to passengers (my 5 young children) within the vehicle in the event the vehicle can't move from the place parked. The vehicle is available to be inspection and has been checked out by 3 different mechanic shops located in Gower, saint Joseph, and Savannah Missouri all in which stateed verbally that low fluid due to leak somewhere from transmission and poor linkage components within gear solenoid and possible pcm and mil issues to be at fault of vehicle mufacture

THE TECHNICIAN ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY A RELATIVE THAT AN AIR BAG WAS REPLACED IN 2018 HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE AIR BAG REPAIR WOULD NOT HAVE CAUSED THE FAILURE. WHILE GETTING ON THE FREEWAY, AT APPROX. 50 MPH THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO NEXT GEAR. RPM WAS 4500-5000 (AS THOUGH POSSIBLY STUCK IN OVERDRIVE). I DECELERATED HOPING IT WOULD COMPUTE THE NEED TO SHIFT. IT DIDN'T. I TRIED ACCELERATING SLOWLY AND STILL DIDNT SHIFT. I SLOWED DOWN, PUT EMERGENCY FLASHERS ON AND TOOK THE NEXT EXIT 1/4 MILE OR LESS AWAY. SINCE THE LIGHT WAS RED AT THE EXIT , I TRIED PUTTING CAR INTO PARK AND THEN BACK INTO DRIVE TO SEE IF IT WOULD ('RESET'), INSTEAD THE SHIFT SELECTOR WAS STUCK IN PARK. LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I COULDN'T GET IT IN DRIVE, COULDN'T MOVE. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT FINALLY WENT INTO DRIVE. WHEN I GOT OFF WORK, SAME THING...STUCK IN PARK. AFTER 4TH TRY, I WAS ABLE TO GET IT IN REVERSE, THEN INTO DRIVE. I MADE IT HOME WITHOUT GETTING ON FREEWAY, PARKED THE CAR 3 DAYS AGO AND HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT SINCE THEN. THIS CAUSES A HAZARD BECAUSE IN ORDER TO NOT BEING ABLE TO AVOID BEING STRANDED. I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND PUT ON THE PARKING BRAKE. RUNNING THE RISK OF THE CAR ROLLING AND CAUSING A COLLISION. CRYSLER NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS SITUATION. AS I'M AWARE THAT IT'S A DEFECTIVE PLASTIC PART CAUSING THIS PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS IDENTICAL TO RECALL K39 TRANSMISSION SHIFTER INTERLOCK LEVER BUT FOR SOME REASON MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECAL. I SUSPECT THIS IS AN OVERSIGHT. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET MY CAR OUT OF PARK FOR THE LAST THREE DAYS. ON 3/9/2012 I WENT TO DRIVE MY CAR, AS I WAS PUTTING THE CAR IN REVERSE I FOUND THAT THE GEAR SHAFT WOULD NOT ENGAGE, I DID EVERYTHING TO GET IT TO ENGAGE, BUT IT WOULDN'T BUDGE, AFTER A WHILE I GAVE UP AND CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER DEALER WHO INSTRUCTED ME ON HOW TO GET THE BRACKET TO MOVE. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT (THE BRACKET) MOVED, ALLOWING FOR THE GEAR SHAFT TO MOVE OUT OF PARK. I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PART MIGHT HAVE BEEN UNDER RECALL, I CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION AND WAS TOLD THAT EVEN THOUGH TRANSMISSION CUP PLUG BRACKET WAS UNDER RECALL FOR CERTAIN CHRYSLER, DODGE, AND JEEPS MY CAR DIDN'T FALL WITH IN THE PARAMETER OF THE VIN NUMBER. I PAID FOR THE REPAIR. I WOULD HAVE AGREE TO THIS HAD I NOT HAD THIS PROBLEM PRIOR TO THE DATE ABOVE. ONCE BEFORE THE GEAR SHAFT WOULDN'T MOVE, BUT SOMEONE HELPED ME GET IT TO MOVE, THAT WAS SEVERAL YEARS AGO. HAD I KNOWN ABOUT THE RECALL THEN, I WOULD HAVE CONTACTED THE NHTSA SOONER. AFTER BEING INFORMED OF THAT INFORMATION, I THEN PROCEEDED TO ASK THE REP. WILL THAT RECALL FIX MY GEAR FROM BEING STUCK IN THE PARK POSITION. I WAS PLACED ON HOLD AND WHEN THE REP. RETURNED, SHE INFORMED ME THAT THE MECHANIC SAID NO. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE RECALL WORK PERFORMED AT A LATER TIME. I THEN CALLED AROUND TO DIFFERENT MECHANICS AND INQUIRED ABOUT WHAT THE ISSUE MIGHT BE. I RECEIVED FEEDBACK FROM AT LEAST 3 OUT OF 5 MECHANICS WHO STATED THAT IT MAY BE THE BRAKE SENSOR FUSE BEING BLOWN OR IT MAY BE A SOLENOID THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. LATER ON THAT EVENING I WENT TO TRY AND MOVE THE GEAR AGAIN AND WAS UNABLE TO, SO I REMOVED THE CHROME PANEL THAT IS AROUND GEAR ASSEMBLY AND STUCK A FLAT HEAD SCREW DRIVER TOWARDS THE TOP AND PLAYED AROUND WITH IT. AS I WAS DOING SO, THE GEAR SHIFT MOVED FROM THE PARK POSITION. SO NOW I HAVE TO RIDE AROUND WITH A SCREW DRIVER IN ORDER TO GET OUT OF THE PARK POSITION. I FEEL THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE I HAVE 2 YOUNG CHILDREN AND WE COULD'VE BEEN STRANDED SOMEWHERE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 102,600. IN REFERENCE TO MY 2005 CHRYSLER 300 - I WENT OUT TO DRIVE MY CAR AND IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. I FOUND OUT IT WAS A SMALL PIN IN THE SHIFTER MECHANISM. AS I RESEARCHED ONLINE, I FOUND THIS PROBLEM TO BE WIDE SPREAD WITH CHRYSLER 300 OWNERS. THE DEALERSHIP KNEW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE MINUTE I DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID IT IS VERY COMMON AND THEY SEE THIS REGULARLY. THEY ALSO SAID THAT CHRYSLER DOES NOT SELL THAT PARTICULAR PART SEPARATELY AND THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE UNIT. LASTLY, THE DEALERSHIP EVEN QUESTIONED WHY THIS PROBLEM HASN'T BEEN RECALLED. I ALSO CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE TO EXPLAIN MY PROBLEM (AND MOUNTING COST TO TOW MY CAR AND HAVE IT FIXED). I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE AG'S OFFICE IN BOSTON, MA WHERE I LIVE AND CALLED CHRYSLER TO TELL THEM THAT I KNOW ABOUT THE 2.7ENGINE SLUDGE PROBLEM. THE AG IS INVESTIGATING IT WHILE MY CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE CHRYSLER SERVICE CENTER WAITING FOR ME TO GO AND GET IT BACK. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER 300 PURCHASED IN 2008. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFT SELECTOR BECAME STUCK IN THE PARK POSITION. SHE WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, SHE STILL COULD NOT GET THE GEAR SHIFT SELECTOR TO SHIFT GEARS. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT LONG TERM AND SYSTEMIC OIL SLUDGE PROBLEMS CAUSING SUDDEN CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURES IN DODGE AND CHRYSLER VEHICLES USING THE 2.7L V6 ENGINE SPANNING FROM APPROX 1998-2005. MY WELL MAINTAINED 2005 CHRYSLER 300 ENGINE FAILED SUDDENLY AND DANGEROUSLY WHILE DRIVING. AND THIS WAS 1 MONTH AFTER PAYING THE CHRYSLER DEALER $850 TO CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND COOLANT AT FACTORY SUGGESTED DATES. WITH ONLY 56,000 MILES AND OIL CHANGED EVERY 5000 MILES (OWNERS MANUAL SUGGESTS 7500) THE CHRYSLER DEALER INITIALLY WANTED OVER $2000 TO FIX AN UNEXPLAINED INTERNAL WATER PUMP LEAK, AND TIMING CHAIN FAILURE. ONLY AFTER HEATED DISCUSSION DID THEY BACK DOWN AND REPAIR IT FOR A $100 DEDUCTIBLE UNDER THE 7/70 DRIVEDRAIN WARRANTY. 2. THE FAILURE, HOW OFTEN IT OCCURS, ITS CONSEQUENCES. SIMPLY USING GOOGLE AND ENTERING "CHRYSLER 2.7L ENGINE FAILURE" LEADS TO HUNDREDS OF REPORTS OF SUSPECTED OIL SLUDGE (DUE TO POOR ENGINE DESIGN AND OIL NOT FLOWING PROPERLY) THAT CAUSES SUDDEN AND DANGEROUS UNEXPLAINED ENGINE FAILURE INVOLVING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. GEAR SHIFT ON 2005 CHRYSLER 300 TOURING MALFUNCTIONED. COULDN'T REMOVE FROM PARK POSITION AND AT TIMES HAD DIFFICULTY PUTTING CAR IN PARK. TRIED TO USE THE MANUAL TO RELEASE. INFORMATION IN MANUAL STATED BY DEPRESSING PINK BUTTON NEXT TO GEAR SHIFT WOULD RELEASE GEAR FROM PARK POSITION; BUT DID NOT WORK. MY HUSBAND IS A CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN AND STATED THAT THE PINK BUTTON WAS NOT CONNECTED TO ANYTHING; BUT HE WAS ABLE TO RELEASE IT BY TAKING APART THE CONSOLE TO EXPOSE THE MAIN RELEASE SO THAT WE WOULD NOT INCURR A $150 TOWING COST. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO GANLEY/DODGE/CHRYSLER DEALER AND THE ENTIRE GEAR SHIFT HAD TO BE REPLACED; BUT THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY IT WENT BAD NOR WHY THIS PINK BUTTON WAS NOT CONNECTED NOR ABLE TO RELEASE. DEALER ALSO SAID THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THIS TYPE OF REPAIR AND THE COST WOULD BE MY RESPONSIBILTY. COST OF REPAIR APPROXIMATELY $375 PLUS THE PART IS BACK ORDERED FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE (3) DAYS. I WILL TAKE VACATION DAYS FROM WORK IN ORDER TO HAVE MY CAR REPAIRED AND WILL BE WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION. NEED TO KNOW IF THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFEAT SINCE THE INFOMATION IN THE MANUAL STATED PROCEDURES TO FOLLOW IN THE RELEASE BUT NOT EFFECTIVE AND WHETHER OR NOT I CAN BE REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIRS AND IF I CAN SEND THE ORIGINAL PART BACK TO THE MANUFACTURER SO THAT A TECHNICIAN CAN HONESTLY ANALYZE IF THE PART WAS INSTALLED PROPERLY AND/OR WHY IT DID NOT PERFORM AS INDICATED IN THE MANUAL. WILL MISS TIME OFF FROM WORK AND NO LOANER WAS PROVIDED OR OFFERED. I UNDERSTAND THAT REPAIRS MUST BE MADE BUT SOMETHING THAT WAS NOT DONE BY THE OWNER SHOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MANUFACUTURER IF THIS TYPE OF REPAIR IS DUE TO THE PRODUCTION OF THE VEHICLE. I LEFT MY CAR RUNNING ON PARK FOR A FEW MINUTES IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE, THE CAR ENGAGED IT SELF IN GEAR, DROVE ITSELF IN THE GARAGE AND CRASHED. I HAVE A VIDEO SECURITY SYSTEM AND THE CAMERA SHOWS THE CAR FULLY STOPPED FOR ABOUT 50 SECONDS AND THEN IT TAKES OFF. I CALLED CHRYSLER, THEY SENT AN INVESTIGATOR AND ALL HE DID WAS CHECK TO SEE IF THE CAR CAN BE PUT IN DRIVE WITH OUT STEPPING ON THE BRAKES. ON NOV 9, 2005 I DROVE INTO MY DRIVE WAY AND STARTED TURNING TO PULL INTO THE GARAGE. MY 2005C WITH HEMI SUDDENLY SURGED FORWARD HITTING MY DAUGHTER'S 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. HER CAR HAD DAMAGE ON THE REAR BUMPER AND IT WAS KNOCKED ABOUT 15 OR 20 FEET. THE FRONT OF MY CAR WAS TORN UP. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY BUT, THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS HURT. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT THE SURGE AND THEY STATED THEY HAVE NOT HAD ANY COMPLAINTS. I FOUND ONE ON THIS WEBSITE ABOUT THE CAR SURGING. THIS WILL EFFECT MY INSURANCE AND HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR MY FAMILY WITH TWO CARS HAVING TO BE REPAIRED. I REPORTED TO CHRYSLER THAT TWICE THAT DAY THE CAR HAD MADE A REVVING SOUND BUT HAD NOT SURGED FORWARD. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NOW MAKES ME UNSURE ABOUT DRIVING THE CAR AGAIN. WE THEN BROUGHT THE CAR BACK AGAIN FOR PULLING TO THE RIGHT ABOUT 1 WEEK LATER AND AGAIN THE TOLD US IT WAS FIXED.THE VEHICLE WAS NOT PULLING AS MUCH BUT STILL WAS. ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER THE CAR WAS RED LINING, NOT SHIFTING AND STALLING ON HER. WE BROUGHT THE CAR TO EATONTOWN CHRYSLER IN WHICH THEY FOUND A TRANSMISSION SOLENOID TO BE BAD AND REPLACED IT. WE THEN STARTED TO EXPERIENCE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS SUCH AS REAR WINDOW NOT WORKING ALL THE TIME AND AIR BAG LIGHT SOMETIMES FLASHING ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING AND AGAIN HESITATION WHEN STATING FROM STOP. ALSO THE MOON ROOF INTERIOR SHADE OPENS TO ABOUT AN INCH AFTER DRIVING TO VEHICLE FOR ABOUT A WEEK. NOW ITS MAY 8TH AND WE HAVE APPROX. 20,000 ON THE VEHICLE AND WE ARE BEING TOLD THE WHEEL ALIGNMENT WAS COMPLETED BASED ON A SERVICE BULLETIN AND AT NO COST TO US, EVEN THOUGH WE PAID $95.00 ORIGINALLY, AND THE REST OF THE PROBLEMS CANNOT BE DUPLICATED AND THERE'S NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO. I CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER CORP. SERVICE CENTER AT 18009921997 AND SPOKE TO NUMEROUS PEOPLE IN REFERENCE TO THESE PROBLEMS AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE THE CAR TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND THERE'S NOTHING ELSE THAT THEY COULD DO.

CHRYSLER 300C PULL, DRIFT AND REAR END BANG ISSUE. *MR THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT AND WHEN IT WAS PLACED IN REVERSE, AT TIMES, A BANG NOISE AND OR GRIND WAS HEARD BEFORE IT WOULD LOCK AND BEGIN TO ROLL. THESE PROBLEMS WERE NOTICED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FIRST PURCHASED. *SC *JB
