2006 Chrysler 300 Touring 3.5L V6 engine. Car has intermittent stall at slow speeds or at complete stop. Sometimes feels like it stumbles, other times it dies suddenly and unable to tell the engine shut down. I have to put car in park and completely switch the ignition fully off and turn back on to start position. When it stalls while rolling, I have to brake and bring car to full stop, with no power steering, and go through the same start procedure. No trouble codes are generated, and no check engine light indicator illuminated. Car usually starts right up, but sometimes I have to keep cranking starter, stumbles to catch as if starving for fuel. A/C was on first two times but also happens with A/C off. Research online reveals an open recall for the fuel tank on the 300C model with a 5.7L or 6.4L engine. Problems described on the 300C model are nearly identical to what my 300 Touring is experiencing. PCM replacement does not correct problem. Some noticed it happening only with a full tank. Stopgap measure is to only fill no more than 3/4 tank. I am currently testing this idea. The safety issue is significant and twofold; three times I have had one other adult and two children in the car. While stalled at a major intersection traffic signal trying to restart the engine, other vehicles approached from the rear at 50-55 MPH. A rear end collision with children in the back seat would likely be fatal. Secondly, during a stall event while the car is moving, it is extremely difficult to steer the vehicle to a safe place, and braking takes significant pedal pressure once power assist bleeds off. This is a serious concern and obvious collision hazard, as I may not be able to stop or steer to a safe location or avoid a hazard. I had the car at the dealer for over three weeks in July 2024 and they were unable to duplicate the issue. Their answer was to drive car until it happens more frequently. This is unacceptable. No other solution or repair was provided.

COOL, SO WE GO, EVERYTHING IS FINE, BEASTIE (THAT'S THE NAME OF MY 2006 CHRYSLER 300), IS RUNNING GOOD, MY HUSBAND AND 3YR OLD ARE JAMMIN OUT TO METALLICA, AND WE GET TO MY MOTHER IN LAWS HOUSE.. STAY A COUPLE HOURS AND DECIDED TO HEAD HOME.. SO WE SAY BYE ECT ECT.. WE GET ABOUT 9.5 MILES DOWN OUR 34 MILE RIDE HOME... AWW CRAP, THERE IS A TRACTOR ON THE ROAD, SO WE GO TO PASS HIM... OR SO WE THOUGHT... MAKE SURE COAST IS CLEAR, TURN ON BLINKER AND STEP ON THE GAS PETAL MORE FIRMLY.. OK IN THE OTHER LANE.. AND BAM!! CAR DIES IN MOTION AT 60 MPH!! MY HUSBAND JUST CASUALLY SAYS "HEY BABE, I THINK THE CAR JUST DIED" AND I LOOK LIKE "HAHA WHATEVER" AND I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT.. SO WE PULL OVER AND TRY TO GET IT STARTED, HAD MY MIL COME JUMP US.. AN HOUR LATER AND WE STILL DON'T HAVE BEASTIE STARTED.. NO CLICKING, NO NOTHING.. SO UNFORTUNATELY BEASTIE HAD TO SIT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD UNTIL THE NEXT DAY... THE NEXT DAY WE GOT HER TOWED TO MY MILS HOUSE... THAT WAS 3 DAYS AGO... AND BEASTIE STILL HASN'T STARTED UP FOR ME...

IF I PLACE IN NEUTRAL OR SLIGHTLY PRESS GAS PEDAL IT WILL STAY RUNNING. NOW ONE THING I HAVE NOTICED IS WHEN I FILL THE TANK ABOVE HALF WAY IT SEEMS TO BE FINE, BUT ONCE IT GETS TO HALF WAY MARK AND BELOW IS WHEN I NOTICE THIS PROBLEM AND IT STAYS UNTIL ABOUT THE EMPTY MARK NOT SURE WHY THAT IS, EITHER THE TANK, PUMP, FILTER NOT REALLY SURE BUT DEFINITELY CAN BE A DANGEROUS CONDITION IF NOT ADDRESSED. IF EVER ONE DAY I WAS TO NEED THE POWER TO BE THERE FOR SOME REASON THE CAR JUST FALLS ON ITS FACE WHEN THE PEDAL IS APPLIED.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, ALL OF A SUDDEN OUT OF NOWHERE, I NOTICED THAT MY COOLANT INDICATOR LEVER HAD NOT MOVED. A FEW MILES LATER, IT STARTED RUNNING ROUGH SO I PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY AND THEN IT STARTED SMOKING SO BAD I THOUGHT IT WOULD CATCH FIRE! I DIDN'T EVEN WANT TO OPEN THE HOOD BECAUSE I WAS SO AFRAID! THANKFULLY FOR A FDOT OFFICER WHO DID OPEN IT AND STAYED WITH ME IN POURING RAIN UNTIL A TOW TRUCK CAME! AT THE DEALERSHIP, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE TIMING BELT BROKE NOT GIVING ME ANY WARNING WHATSOEVER AND RESULTED IN MY ENGINE FAILURE. THEY STATED I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ENGINE AT A COST OF OVER $7000!!! I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED HOW THIS ALL HAPPENED! NO WARNING! NO WAY TO HAVE KNOWN THERE WAS AN ISSUE OR THAT THE CAR WAS OVERHEATING! CHRYSLER SHOULD BE ASHAMED!

A WEEK AGO I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR STALLED OUT AND DASH LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND ALL I COULD DO WAS TO LET IT COME TO A STOP AFTER TRYING TO STEER IT FAILED. CAR WOULD NOT START AT ALL, IT ONLY MADE A SLIGHT NOISE WHEN TRYING TO TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH, BUT WENT TOTALLY DEAD. HAD IT TOWED HOME AND CHECKED OUT BY A MECHANIC. WAS TOLD THAT MY SPARK PLUGS WERE BURNED OUT AND THE OIL PUMP FAILED, THENHAD SPARK PLUGS REPLACED, THATS WHEN IT STARTED AND STOPPED FOR GOOD. THAT'S WHEN I WAS TOLD ABOUT THE OIL PUMP AND HE TRIED TURNING THE FRONT PART OF THE MOTOR IT WOULD NOT TURN, HE THEN TOLD ME I NEED A MOTOR. I'VE TAKEN GOOD CARE OF MY CAR AND HAVE PROOF. I'VE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS HAPPENING TO THE CHRYSLER 300'S. I'M LUCKY THAT I DIDN'T GET HURT OR IN A BAD WRECK. IS CHRYSLER GOING TO HELP THEIR CUSTOMERS WITH THIS PROBLEM OR WAIT TILL SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. I'M JUST ON SOCIAL SECURITY AND CAN'T AFFORD TO HAVE IT REPAIRED OR REPLACED. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW, NOW I'M STRANDED AND CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY A CAR. THEY NEED TO HELP THEIR CUSTOMERS. I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND WAS ABOUT TO GET ONTO THE FREEWAY. I ALSO BEEN HAVING COOLANT LEAKING AND CAR RAN HOT SEVERAL TIMES, COULDN'T FIND WHERE THE COOLANT LEAK WAS, HAD TO CHECK EVERY OTHER DAY AND ADD MORE COOLANT. NO COOLANT WAS ON THE GROUND UNDER THE CAR. BECAME HARD TO START AND HAD ME STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND FREEWAY SEVERAL TIMES AND HAD TO WAIT FOR IT TO COOL OFF BEFORE CHECKING AND ADDING MORE COOLANT, AND WAITED AWHILE LONGER BEFORE STARTING IT TO DRIVE HOME. CHR CHRYSLER NEED TO BUY THIS CAR BACK. IT'S BEEN TAKEN CARE OF, LOOKS NEW, HAS NO DENTS AND NO RUST, INSIDE IS CLEAN, NO DAMAGE, ONLY LITTLE WEAR. I'M THE ONLY OWNER.

I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK ONE MORNING AND JUST OUT OF THE BLUE I HEAR THIS LOUD RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. UPON FARTHER INSPECTION THE RATTLING NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE OIL PAN AREA UNDER THE CAR. DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT THE ROD BEARINGS MIGHT HAVE BEEN DEFECTIVE COMING FROM THE FACTORY.

WHEN MY KEY IS TURNED TO THE "ON" POSITION WITHOUT FULLY STARTING THE VEHICLE, IT STARTS STALLING AT LOW SPEEDS AND WILL NOT START WITHOUT PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. THIS WILL CONTINUE FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK BEFORE THE VEHICLE WILL RETURN TO NORMAL PERFORMANCE. BY NORMAL PERFORMANCE, I MEAN IT WILL START WITHOUT PRESSING GAS PEDAL AND NO STALLING AT LOW SPEED. HUNDREDS OF CARS DROVE BY HONKING AND SWEARING AT ME LEAVING ME STUCK IN MY VEHICLE AS IT WAS TO UNSAFE TO GET OUT. AFTER ABOUT 15 MIN OF THAT STREESS A HELPFUL OLDER MAN HELPED PUSH ME TO A SAFER PART OF THE STREET UNTIL MY BOYFRIEND COULD GET TO ME AND HAVE THE CAR TOWED HOME. AFTER A WEEK AND A HALF AND CLOSE TO 500 LATER I WAS CALLED WITH THE NEWS THAT A CYLINDAR COLLAPSED CAUSING MY ENGINE TO FAIL. IT WOULD BE A 7,000-9,000 REPAIR AT THE LEAST. THE PROBLEM WITH THIS IS THAT I STILL OWE 13000 ON THIS VEHICLE AND IT BARELY BLUE BOOKS AT 10000. SO WHY WOULD I PAY THE MONEY WHEN I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE IN THE 3 YEARS OF OWNING IT AND HAD NO WARNING OR WAY TO PREVENT IT. I ALWAYS TOOK MY CAR TO A DEALER TO BE MAINTENCED AND NEVER MISSED AN OIL CHANGE SO HOW COULD THIS BE HAPPENING TO ME. I CALLED THE WALDORF FORD AND DODGE TO DISCUSS MY CAR. THEY TOLD ME THE ONLY THING THEY DID WAS CUT A NEW KEY FOR THE CAR, WHICH I HAD THEM FAX ME THE RECEIPT OF THE WORK DONE. MY CAR SHUT OFF ANOTHER 2 TIMES WHILE I WAS DRIVING, JUST AFTER FUELING. WHEN I PERSONALLY DROPPED THE CAR OFF AT WALDORF JEEP AND CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT I'M NOT THE FIRST ONE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT MY CAR SHUTTING OF WHILE DRIVING, JUST AFTER FILLING UP MY GAS TANK. AGAIN NO WARNING AND THE CAR LOST ALL POWER AND YOU WERE UNABLE TO STOP THE CAR EASILY OR TURN THE WHEEL SINCE ALL POWER WAS LOST. THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT DID COME ON AGAIN BUT DID NOT OCCUR UNTIL AFTER THE CAR ENGINE CUT OFF AND ALL POWER WAS LOST. THIS TIME I CHECKED THE OIL AND THE LEVEL WAS FINE BUT I STILL ADDED AN EXTRA QUART OF OIL. THEN WITHIN 5 MINS I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AND DRIVE IT THE REST OF THE WAY 1-2 MILES TO THE DEALERSHIP. UPON ARRIVING AT THE DEALERSHIP WE CHECKED THE ERROR CODED. THIS PROBLEM DID NOT OCCUR AFTER REFUELING, MY TANK WAS HALF FULL WHEN THE PROBLEM FIRST OCCURRED. THE REPAIR FACILITY HAS HAD MY VEHICLE FOR 7 DAYS NOW AND THE CAR HAS STALLED ON THEM SEVERAL TIMES AS WELL, HOWEVER, THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THE FACILITY HAS BEEN IN CONTACT WITH CHRYSLER TECHNICIANS AND HAS RESEARCHED THE TECHNICAL BULLETINS, WITH NO SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. THE REPAIR FACILITY DETERMINED THAT THE ISSUE SOUNDED RELATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY EVEN THOUGH THE CAR DIDN'T KICK OUT ANY CODE SO THEY CHECKED THE THROTTLE BODY AND NOTED THAT ITS VOLTAGE WAS OUT OF THE SPECIFICATION RANGE SO THEY REPLACED IT AND UPDATED/RESET THE CAR'S COMPUTER, BUT THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AS THE CAR HAS STALLED SINCE THEY'VE REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. *TR

THERE IS ANOTHER CONDITION THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE RELATED: SOME TIMES WHEN STARTING TO FILL UP, THE GAS PUMP NOZZLE SHUTS OFF DUE TO "SPLASH BACK" IN THE CAR'S FILLER TUBE. I ALSO WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS OTHERS TOLD THE EXACT THINGS, THAT THEY WERE AT FAULT AND CHRYSLER WOULDN'T PAY. THE PROFESSIONAL TECH'S OF CHRYSLER ALSO ADVISE AGAINST BUYING THIS MODEL. ALSO LOOK ON THE INTERNET AND THERE WERE PEOPLE WITH 20,000 MILES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM TOLD THE SAME THING BY CHRYSLER.
