I have had issues with fueling the vehicle as when I fuel it I am only able to get a few cents in at a time before the gas pump clicks off or gas starts coming out of the fuel filler neck itself. At most I have been able to fill up my tank halfway but when I try to fill it a few cents worth of gas above halfway, I have engine stalling issues. To try to solve this issue I replaced all the external fuel vapor parts (charcoal cannister, EGR valve, PCV valve, purge solenoid, gas cap, and leak detection pump). The issue is clearly a problem with the internal components of the fuel tank itself. Chrysler has a X53 lifetime warranty for my type of vehicle but only for 19 gallon fuel tanks and my car has an 18 gallon tank. However, NHTSA investigation PE13-016 has shown that the defect (a swollen vent valve) affects both sizes of tanks. Chrysler said that the X53 lifetime warranty on the defective tank is VIN specific and would not cover my vehicle because it has a 18 gallon tank. Now my vehicle dashboard is saying that the gas cap is leaking but the gas cap was just replaced thus this further points to a pressure issue within the tank. Chrysler dealerships will not help me and contacting FCA resulted in them just telling me to contact a dealer to check if the warranty is available for me.

2006 Chrysler 300 Touring 3.5L V6 engine. Car has intermittent stall at slow speeds or at complete stop. Sometimes feels like it stumbles, other times it dies suddenly and unable to tell the engine shut down. I have to put car in park and completely switch the ignition fully off and turn back on to start position. When it stalls while rolling, I have to brake and bring car to full stop, with no power steering, and go through the same start procedure. No trouble codes are generated, and no check engine light indicator illuminated. Car usually starts right up, but sometimes I have to keep cranking starter, stumbles to catch as if starving for fuel. A/C was on first two times but also happens with A/C off. Research online reveals an open recall for the fuel tank on the 300C model with a 5.7L or 6.4L engine. Problems described on the 300C model are nearly identical to what my 300 Touring is experiencing. PCM replacement does not correct problem. Some noticed it happening only with a full tank. Stopgap measure is to only fill no more than 3/4 tank. I am currently testing this idea. The safety issue is significant and twofold; three times I have had one other adult and two children in the car. While stalled at a major intersection traffic signal trying to restart the engine, other vehicles approached from the rear at 50-55 MPH. A rear end collision with children in the back seat would likely be fatal. Secondly, during a stall event while the car is moving, it is extremely difficult to steer the vehicle to a safe place, and braking takes significant pedal pressure once power assist bleeds off. This is a serious concern and obvious collision hazard, as I may not be able to stop or steer to a safe location or avoid a hazard. I had the car at the dealer for over three weeks in July 2024 and they were unable to duplicate the issue. Their answer was to drive car until it happens more frequently. This is unacceptable. No other solution or repair was provided.

I here to report what seems to be an on-going issue with the older model Chrysler 300's. I have an 2006 and just recently started smelling gas fumes or an gas odor inside my car. I had a mechanic look at the problem. He assumes it was a cracked or damaged seal. He took the backseat out and looked. The ring was intact but the fuel filter had a small crack in it. We fixed it and thought the problem was over. He said the car would have a heavy fuel smell for a couple of days but would go away once the car was aired out. 3 DAYS go by and though the fumes remained. Now,i see that gas isactually leaking from the underside of the rear passenger side. And the smell is still there. I am taking the car to another repair shop to do a more through exam of the car. Leaking gas should be the least of my problems.

EVERY TIME YOU FILL THE VEHICLE WITH GAS, THE CAR DIES SHORTLY AFTER FUELING WITH OUT ANY KIND OF WARNING. AFTER YOU DRIVE A LITTLE WAYS AND BURN SOME OF THE FUEL FROM THE TANK, THE CAR RUNS FINE. THE DRIVER HAS NO WARNING AND THE CAR HAS TROUBLE STARTING AFTER IT DIES. I WAS ALMOST IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT BECAUSE I PULLED OUT OF THE GAS STATION AFTER FILLING WITH FUEL. I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND THE CAR DIED. THE CAR IS QUITE AND I DIDN'T REALIZED THE CAR DIED. I JUST KEPT PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDDLE UNTIL I OBSERVED THE RPM GAUGE WAS ON ZERO. I HAD NO WARNING. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED WITH LOW MILEAGE. I THOUGHT IS WAS A ISOLATED INCIDENT, BUT SADLY WAS WRONG. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME YOU FILL IT UP WITH GAS AND MAY DIE ONCE OR SEVERAL TIMES. THERE ARE NO PRE-WARNINGS FOR THE VEHICLE STALLING. ALL ACCELERATION, POWERS STEERING, AND POWER BRAKES WERE GONE WITH OUT WARNING. A QUICK SEARCH ON THE INTERNET REVILED THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE GAS TANK DESIGN AND CHRYSLER HAS NOT STEPPED UP TO FIX THIS. CHRYSLER SAID THE ONLY FIX IS A NEW FUEL TANK AND THEY ARE ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. CHRYSLER ALSO CHANGE THE DESIGN OF THE FUEL TANK IN LATER MODELS BECAUSE OF THE DEFECT PLEASE HOLD THE MAKER ACCOUNTABLE FOR DANGEROUS AND LIFE THREATENING DEFECT.

AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK, THE VEHICLE STARTED STALLING RIGHT AFTER I STARTED DRIVING AWAY FROM THE GAS STATION. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, DURING A HEAVY TRAFFIC HOUR ON CITY STREET. AFTER TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE AND WAITING A FEW MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO RESTART BUT THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED QUITE OFTEN. I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID NOTHING IS WRONG, BUT THE PROBLEM KEEPS GETTING WORSE. AFTER TALKING WITH THEM TODAY, THEY SAID TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN ALMOST FULL OF GAS AND THEY WILL TOP IT OFF AND CHECK FOR THE STALLING. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THIS ISSUE. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, KNOWING IT WILL STALL IN TRAFFIC. THE COST TO REPAIR IF NOT COVERED IS APPROX. $1,500. I ASKED ABOUT THE EXTENDED LIFETIME COVERAGE AND WAS TOLD TO CONTACT YOU. MY PROBLEM MATCHES EXACTLY WHAT IS DOCUMENTED IN YOUR INVESTIGATION DOCUMENT PE 13-016.

AFTER THE CONTACT RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE, IT STALLED AGAIN AND WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A LOOSE FUEL LINE THAT CAUSED THE ISSUE TO RECUR. THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN AND WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A CASE MANAGER WOULD CALL HIM BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. 5 MIN AFTER FILLING THE FUEL TANK, GOING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE CAR STARTED LURCHING FORWARD. TURNED ONTO A SIDE STREET, PRESSED GAS PEDAL AND THE CAR COMPLETELY DIED. THEN RESTARTED AS IF NORMAL. WE HAD 2 GRANDCHILDREN IN THE CAR ON A VERY BUSY STREET. THIS COULD EASILY HAVE CREATED AN ACCIDENT. RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM, FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE EXACT PROBLEM. BUT, WHEN I ENTERED THE VIN ON THIS SITE, IT STATES NO RECALLS FOR THIS VIN. WHAT IS MY NEXT STEP? I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR AND THE ORIGINAL OWNER IS DECEASED SO I CAN'T OBTAIN ANY INFO/HISTORY ON THE CAR.

THERE IS NO GASOLINE SEEN LEAKING FROM UNDER CAR AT THIS TIME. CONCERNED ABOUT FIRE HAZARD. HEARD OTHERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS. THIS COULD ALSO BE A VERY SIGNIFICANT FIRE CONCERN AS THE FUMES ARE VERY STRONG IN GARAGE WITH VEHICLE PARKED, AND COULD BE A PROBLEM WHEN GAS APPLIANCES OR WATER HEATERS COME IN PROXIMITY TO VEHICLE.

I OWN A 2006CHRYSLER 300 WITH A 3.5 LITER ENGINE. OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS, I'VE EXPERIENCED STALLING AND ENGINE SHUT OFF FOLLOWING REFUELING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO MY MECHANIC WHO ALERTED ME TO A RECALL ISSUED BY CHRYSLER OVER THIS EXACT PROBLEM. THE CHALLENGE, I WAS TOLD, WAS THAT THIS WAS A VIN SPECIFIC RECALL, 14-002-14, DATED 4/2214, ON MY MODEL AND ENGINE'S FUEL SYSTEM, NOTED AS A LIFETIME WARRANTY REPAIR, AS STATED IN THAT RECALL, BUT IT DID NOT INCLUDE MY VIN NUMBER. MY MECHANIC CONFIRMED THAT THIS PROBLEM, ALLOWING GASOLINE TO ENTER THE EVAPORATOR CHAMBER IN THE FUEL SYSTEM BY DROPPING THE GAS TANK AND EXAMINING IT. I WAS TOLD TO TAKE THIS TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT ADDRESSED. AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP, THE SAME EXAMINATION WAS CONDUCTED AND THE SAME PROBLEM CONFIRMED. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT SINCE THE LIMITED RECALL DID NOT INCLUDE MY VIN NUMBER, I'D HAVE TO APPEAL TO CHRYSLER DIRECTLY. AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS OF PROMISED CALLS NEVER BEING MADE TO ME, I FINALLY SPOKE WITH BRITTANY, A CUSTOMER SERVICE SUPERVISOR WHO SAID I WAS NOT ENTITLED TO THE LIFETIME WARRANTY AND FREE REPAIR TO THIS FACTORY DEFECT BECAUSE MY VIN WAS NOT ONE OF THOSE VEHICLES COVERED UNDER THAT RECALL. SHE SAID ANY REPAIR TO THIS ACKNOWLEDGED FACTORY DEFECT, CONFIRMED BY CHYSLER'S DEALERSHIP MECHANICS, WOULD HAVE TO DONE AT MY EXPENSE. AS A CONSUMER, I FIND THIS EGREGIOUS. WHY SHOULD AN ACKNOWLEDGE FACTORY DEFECT BE REPAIRED ON MY DIME, WHILE THE SAME MODEL, YEAR AND ENGINE TYPE AS MY VEHICLE IS COVERED UNDER AND UNLIMITED WARRANTY BY CHRYSLER FOR OTHER, SELECT VEHICLES. RIGHT AFTER REFUELING THE CAR IT ENDED UP STALLING AT A RED LIGHT. THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF SO I HAD TO RESTART THE CAR IN ORDER TO DRIVE AGAIN. THE ENGINE CONTINUOUSLY SHUT OFF AT EVERY STOP. IT EVEN HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OF A U-TURN, SO I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET UNTIL RECRANKING THE CAR. I DID RESEARCH AND NOTICED THIS WAS A FUEL TANK PROBLEM DO TO A FAULTY VALVE PLACED IN THE FUEL TANK. THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR SOME 2006 CHRYSLER 300 OWNERS, BUT NOT ALL. LEAVING ME WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND NO HELP GETTING THE PROBLEM FIXED. EVEN THOUGH IT IS THERE FAULT FOR BUILDING A FAULTY VALVE.

FOR THE YEAR EVERY TIME I FILL MY CAR UP WITH GAS THERE IS AN OVERWHELMING FUEL SMELL INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE CAR. THE SMELL IS SO BAD THAT WE ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN IN ORDER TO BREATH FOR AT LEAST 4DAYS. IT IS NOW 115 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND IF THE AIR IS ON, MY KIDS AND I GET NAUSEOUS. CAR WAS TAKEN BACK TO DEALERSHIP AGAIN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ON JANUARY 11TH WITH LEAKING FUEL. TANK IS DETERIORATING ACCORDING TO DEALERSHIP SERVICE ADVISOR MANAGER. CAR IS BEING REPAIRED. NOT SURE WHAT IS HAPPENING ON THE BASE MODEL REGARDING THE 2006 CHRYSLER 300. I HAVE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY ON THIS CAR. THE "KINKS" SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED ON THE 2006 CHRYSLER 300 BASE MODELS WITH THE "GEAR SHIFT AND GAS LEAKS. CAN I GET A REFUND ON MY GEARSHIFT BEING STUCK IN TRAFFIC ON A BUSY CITY STREET. THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ON THIS MODEL ON FUEL TANKS AND STALLING IN TRAFFIC.

AS SOON AS I WOULD CRANK MY VEHICLE UP AND GO TO ACCELERATE THE CAR WON'T MOVE UNTIL AFTER A FEW SECONDS AND THEN IT JUST JERKS OUT BEFORE A SMOOTH DRIVE. YESTERDAY I TOOK IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP BECAUSE AFTER INFORMING THE USED CAR SALES LOT WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THEY COULDN'T FIND THE ISSUE AND WANTED TO KEEP MY CAR FOR A WEEK. AFTER 10 HOURS OF TRYING TO FIND THE ISSUE THEY STATED THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON THE FUEL TANK FOR 2006 CHRYSLER 300S. HE SAID THAT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM AND I SHOULD BE ON MY WAY. SO I WAS RELIEVED TO HEAR THE GREAT NEWS COMING FROM THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. WELL AFTER HEADING HOME AND 20 MILES OUT FROM THE DEALERSHIP THERE GOES THE STALLING AGAIN LAST NIGHT. MY VEHICLE SHUT OFF AT THE LIGHT AND AGAIN AS SOON AS I ATTEMPTED TO PARK MY VEHICLE IN THE DRIVEWAY. IN ADDITION TO THE FUEL SYSTEM ISSUE IS CAUSING ANOTHER ISSUE THAT I TRULY FEE WASN'T INVESTIGATED THOROUGHLY. I NOTICED A RECALL ON 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WHERE THE STALLING WAS CAUSED BY THE FUEL SYSTEM, TCM, AND PCM MODULE BASICALLY DEALING WITH THE POWER TRAIN AND THIS IS VERY HIGHLY THE SAME ISSUE GOING ON WITH 2006 CHRYSLER 300. THERE SHOULD'VE BEEN A RECALL ON BOTH AND THERE ISN'T. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS WHEN I STALLED ONTO THE FREEWAY I WAS ALMOST HIT BY AN 18 WHEELER TRUCK ON LAST WEEK. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WITH MYSELF AND PASSENGERS IN MY VEHICLE WITH THIS SITUATION. SOMETIMES AFTER A REFUEL IT WILL STALL 3 - 4 TIMES. I DRIVE A 2006 300C HEMI W/60K MILES.I BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM A FRIEND. THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN THIS CITY SINCE 2006. MID DAY TEMPS 105'. I WAS RUNNING ERRANDS IN TOWN. I HAD STOPPED AT 7 DIFFERENT LOCATIONS, TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND A FEW MINUTES LATER RETURNED TO THE CAR AND CONTINUED WITH MY ERRANDS. I WAS IN THE CAR SITTING AT A 4 LANE INTERSECTION WAITING FOR MY TURN AND I LOOKED DOWN AT THE DASH AND THE OIL CAN LIGHT CAME ON, THEN TRAFFIC STARTED TO MOVE AND I COULDN'T, MY CAR HAD STALLED. I TURNED OFF THE A/C UNIT, THE RADIO AND PUT IT IN PARK. I TRIED 6 OR SO TIMES TO GET THE CAR TO START BUT IT WOULDN'T .I ENGAGED MY FLASHERS WHILE OTHER DRIVERS WERE HONKING AND DRIVING AROUND ME.I LEFT IT IN TRAFFIC AND GOT TO THE SIDEWALK OUT OF DANGER. I WAS CALLING FOR HELP WHEN A MOTORIST PULLED UP BEHIND MY CAR AND ASKED WHATS WRONG. I TOLD HIM IT JUST DIED, SITTING STILL WAITING FOR OUR TURN TO GO THRU THE INTERSECTION. HE GOT IN THE CAR THAT HAD BEEN SITTING THERE FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP AND HE DROVE IT TO A SAFE PARKING LOT. I PARKED THE CAR IN MY GARAGE AND THERE IT SITS. I AM AFRAID TO GET STRANDED IN TRAFFIC AGAIN. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE WEB AND FOUND THAT CHRYSLER ANNOUNCED ON FEB 13, 2014 CHRYSLER EXTENDS LIFETIME WARRANTY ON 2006, 5.7 AND 6.1 HEMI FUEL TANKS. APPARENTLY, NO ONE HAS DIED YET SO IT DOES NOT QUALITY FOR A RECALL BUT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW I CAN QUALIFY FOR THIS WARRANTY?

AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I FOUND OUT OTHERS WERE ALSO HAVING THIS PROBLEM AFTER FILL UP. IN FEB 2014 I READ AN ARTICLE ABOUT A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THESE AND OTHER LX PLATFORM CHRYSLERS ON THESE TANKS. DEALERSHIP CHECKED VEHICLE AND STATED IT WAS INFACT THE FUEL TANK AND WOULD ORDER THE REPLACEMENT. TOLD ME I WAS IN LINE TO RECEVIE A REPLACEMENT BUT THEY ONLY RECEIVE ONE REPLACMENT FUEL TANK EVERY 14 BUSINESS DAYS. CAR WAS DRIVING FINE FOR 2 WEEKS NOW IT'S STALLING AGAIN, DOES NOT MATTER AMOUNT OF GAS IN TANK CAR STALLS AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND WHEN COMING TO A STOP. CONTACTED CHRYSLER TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANYWAY THE SHIPPING/ORDERING OF TANKS COULD BE INCREASED AND THIS TIME THEY TELL ME MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET IF I WANTED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED.
