CHECK FUEL LIGHT COMES ON BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT. DEALER HAS WORKED ON IT 3 TIMES AND REPLACED PARTS BUT IT HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. THEY REALLY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, AN UNSPECIFIED PART BECAME LOOSE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE WHEELS SEEMED UNSTABLE. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. JAMES CERANTI MOTORS INC (3064 US-82, GREENVILLE, MISSISSIPPI 38703, (662) 332-7231) REPLACED THE STRUTS AND THE BALL JOINTS IN AN ATTEMPT TO STABILIZE THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND STATED THAT THE SHAKING OF THE VEHICLE WAS A RESULT OF FAULTY INNER AND OUTER TIE RODS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 119,000.

ON MY WAY TO WORK I STOPPED AND PUT $15 DOLALRS IN THE TANK I WAS JUST BELOW A HALF TANK NOW. I DROVE ROUGHLY 5-10MILES AND WHEN I WAS DRIVING AROUND 30MPH THE OIL CAN LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN MY STEERING GOT TIGHT AND BRAKES GOT TIGHT. IT WAS LIKE THEY WENT OUT. MY CAR ENGINE THEN SHUT OFF AND I COASTED TO THE SHOULDER THE BEST I COULD. THIS ALMOST CAUSED A LARGE ACCIDENT. I TRIED STARTING THE CAR IMMEDIATELY AFTER IT MADE NOISE BUT WOULD NOT START A COUPLE MINUTES LATER I STARTED IT AND THE CAR STARTED FINE.

AFTER WORK I WAS DRIVING HOME AS USUALL DOWN A VERY BUSY MAIN ROAD WITH ALOT OF TRAFFIC AND LIGHT CONTROLLED INTERSECTIONS. I WAS ABOUT 25 MIN AWAY FROM HOME WHEN I WAS BEGINNIGN TO MAKE A LANE CHANGE AND EXCELLERATE OVER TO THE RIGHT LANE. AS I BEGAN TO GET OVER WITHOUT A WARNING OR NOTICE MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND I WAS UNABLE TO TURN MY WHEEL WITHOUT EXCESSIVE FORCE. AS I CONTINUED TO COST INTO THE OTHER LANE AND GRAB AHOLD OF THE STEERING I REALIZED NOT ONLY DID THIS SHUT OFF BUT THE ENGINE DID AS WELL. I GUIDED THE CAR TO THE SAFEST PLACE I COULD (STILL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK. HUNDREDS OF CARS DROVE BY HONKING AND SWEARING AT ME LEAVING ME STUCK IN MY VEHICLE AS IT WAS TO UNSAFE TO GET OUT. AFTER ABOUT 15 MIN OF THAT STREESS A HELPFUL OLDER MAN HELPED PUSH ME TO A SAFER PART OF THE STREET UNTIL MY BOYFRIEND COULD GET TO ME AND HAVE THE CAR TOWED HOME. AFTER A WEEK AND A HALF AND CLOSE TO 500 LATER I WAS CALLED WITH THE NEWS THAT A CYLINDAR COLLAPSED CAUSING MY ENGINE TO FAIL. IT WOULD BE A 7,000-9,000 REPAIR AT THE LEAST. THE PROBLEM WITH THIS IS THAT I STILL OWE 13000 ON THIS VEHICLE AND IT BARELY BLUE BOOKS AT 10000. SO WHY WOULD I PAY THE MONEY WHEN I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE IN THE 3 YEARS OF OWNING IT AND HAD NO WARNING OR WAY TO PREVENT IT. I ALWAYS TOOK MY CAR TO A DEALER TO BE MAINTENCED AND NEVER MISSED AN OIL CHANGE SO HOW COULD THIS BE HAPPENING TO ME. NOW I AM STUCK WITH A CAR IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE THAT DOESNT WORK AND HAD TO PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE MEAN TIME WHILE I AM DEALING WITH TRYING TO MAKE CHRYLSER RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS HORRIBLE SITUATION. I HAVE DONE MASSIVE RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND LEARNED THAT THIS YEAR IS ALREADY KNOWN FOR THIS ISSUE AND FOUND OVER 200 COMPAINTS WITH PEOPLE JUST LIKE ME WHO THIS HAPPENED TO. PLEASE HELP ME TO GET THIS REPAIR COVERED OR MY CAR PURCHASED BACK.

I HAVE MANAGED TO CAPTURE THIS ON VIDEO, BECAUSE IT WENT ON ACTING THIS WAY FOR SEVERAL MILES. THEN IT WAS FINE FOR ABOUT ANOTHER 150 MILES. THEN. IT RETURNED. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES AND THEY SAY NO CODES NO PROBLEM, THE FORTH TIME IT HAPPENED I GOT A CODE U0100 AND P0700. WITH MY SCAN TOOL BUT AGAIN DEALER SAYS THEY CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND THERE IS NO CODES. WHEN ASKED HOW WAS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON IF THERE WERE NO CODES. THE ANSWER WAS THEY DID NOT KNOW. THIS PROBLEM STILL IS PRESENT TO THIS DAY. IT STILL STALLS AND SHUTS DOWN AT ANY GIVEN SPEED. RATHER ITS PARKED OR RUNNING 80. THE CAR USE TO RESTART OK BUT NOW THE RESTARTING IS BECOMING AN ISSUE. I JUST MADE THE FIRST PAYMENT ON IT A FEW DAYS AGO. I BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM A DODGE DEALER. HERE'S WHAT I AM GOING TO DO. ITS WELL DOCUMENTED (BY ME AND THE DEALER) THAT THIS CAR HAS A PROBLEM. I CALLED THE WALDORF FORD AND DODGE TO DISCUSS MY CAR. THEY TOLD ME THE ONLY THING THEY DID WAS CUT A NEW KEY FOR THE CAR, WHICH I HAD THEM FAX ME THE RECEIPT OF THE WORK DONE. MY CAR SHUT OFF ANOTHER 2 TIMES WHILE I WAS DRIVING, JUST AFTER FUELING. WHEN I PERSONALLY DROPPED THE CAR OFF AT WALDORF JEEP AND CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT I'M NOT THE FIRST ONE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT MY CAR SHUTTING OF WHILE DRIVING, JUST AFTER FILLING UP MY GAS TANK. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE TIE RODS ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS. MOST RECENTLY, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIE ROD WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.

UPON DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE LEGAL SPEED LIMIT IS ALWAYS 70MPH. WHILE FOLLOWING THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC INDIVIDUALS AHEAD OF ME STARTED SLOWING DOWN TO A CRUISE SPEED OF 40-50MPH ABRUPTLY. WHILE PAYING ATTENTION TO THE CHANGE IN PACE I SLOWED DOWN AS WELL TO FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. WHEN CHECKING MY REARVIEW MIRROR TO SEE IF THERE WAS A OPENING TO CHANGE LANES I NOTICED A FORD TRUCK COMING FROM BEHIND AT A EXCELLED PACE. WITH SECONDS BEFORE THE CONTACT I BRACED MYSELF FOR THE WRECK. WITHOUT PAYING ATTENTION SUDDENLY THE DRIVER FROM BEHIND RAN INTO MY REAR OF MY CAR. THIS IMPACT NOT ONLY SHATTERED MY ENTIRE REAR WINDOW, BUT MY TRUCK CAVED IN, BOTH MY TAIL LIGHTS WERE KNOCKED OUT, AND I WAS KNOCKED INTO THE NEXT FAR RIGHT LANE. DURING THE IMPACT I BRACED MYSELF AND HIT THE STEERING WHEEL, MY DRIVER SIDE REAR MIRROR WAS KNOCKED DOWN AND THE HAZARD WHEEL ALIGNMENT LIGHTS CAME ON. WHILE ALL OF THIS OCCURRED I WAS SHOCKED MY DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DIDN'T EMPLOY. I AM A MALE, 5?8, 160 POUNDS SO I AM SURE THE ELECTRONICS COULD TELL A PERSON WAS VISIBLY IN THE SEAT. THE ENGINE STARTED TICKING NOTICEABLY ON THE UPPER RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE. THE NOISE WAS TYPICAL OF A LIFTER OR WORN ROCKER ARM. ABOUT A MONTH EARLIER THE CAR HAD A SHIFTING PROBLEM WITH THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY UNDER ACCELERATION. THE CAR WAS CHECKED FOR THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AT A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP BUT NOTHING WAS FOUND AFTER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS COMPLETED THEY DID ADVISE THEY FOUND THE STRUT BUSHINGS WERE IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT. AFTER HEARING THE ENGINE NOISES THE CAR WAS AGAIN TAKEN TO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. BOTH SIDES OF THE ENGINE HAD THE ROCKER ARM ASSEMBLIES REPLACED. THE BUSHINGS FOR THE STRUTS WERE REPLACED. BOTH OF THE TIE ROD ENDS WERE FOUND TO BE IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT WHILE THEY WERE TRYING TO REALIGN THE FRONT END. THE ALIGNMENT WAS NEEDED AFTER REPLACING THE STRUT BUSHINGS. THE CAR WAS WELL MAINTAINED AND OIL CHANGES & LUBES WERE DONE AT OR NEAR EVERY 3,500 MILES. THERE ARE A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF REPLACEMENTS/REPAIRS BEING DONE FOR THESE PARTICULAR PARTS FAILING AT A LOW MILEAGE.THESE PARTS ARE FAILING PREMATURELY AND CHRYSLER SHOULD TAKE THE INITIATIVE & RECALL THESE COMPONENTS. REIMBURSING CUSTOMERS THAT HAVE BECOME DISSATISFIED WITH THEIR CARS AND IT'S MANUFACTURER ARE BEING BURDENED WITH UNNECESSARY REPAIR COSTS. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WHICH COVERED ALL THE COSTS (OVER $2,000.00) . I STILL HAD TO PAY THE DEDUCTIBLE. NHTSA NEEDS TO FIND OUT WHAT IS HAPPENING AND HOLD THE MANUFACTURER ACCOUNTABLE. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD TO HAVE REPAIRS DONE SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR IN 2008 WITH ABOUT 30,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. DEPENDABILITY IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTS OF OWNING A CAR AND WE ALL PAY A LOT OF MONEY TO PURCHASE/LEASE THEM. PAYING FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE IS EXPECTED BUT EXORBITANT REPAIR COSTS ARE UNACCEPTABLE WHEN A CAR IS PROPERLY CARED FOR AND NOT ABUSED. *TR

I RECENTLY HAD NEW TIRES MOUNTED ON MY VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TIRE RODS WERE WORN BADLY. I JUST PASSED 42,000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE ON MANY CHRYSLER 300 MODELS AROUND THE SAME MILEAGE. THERE ARE EVEN TWO OPTIONS FOR REPAIR. YOU CAN HAVE THE TIE RODS REPLACED WITH STANDARD EQUIPMENT BUT WILL MOST LIKELY HAVE THE SAME ISSUE OR CHRYSLER CAME OUT WITH AN UPGRADED REPLACEMENT WITH A LIFETIME WARRANTY. OBVIOUSLY CHRYSLER KNOWS THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE AND SHOULD BE AN ACTUAL RECALL. I WILL BE HAVING THE TIE RODS REPLACED TOMORROW. *TR

I RENTED A CHRYSLER 300 AND DISCOVERED WHAT I FEEL ARE TWO POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARDS. 1.) THE CRUISE CONTROL IS MOUNTED JUST ABOVE THE TURN SIGNAL. WHEN EXITING THE HIGHWAY, I STARTED TO SIGNAL A RIGHT TURN AND REALIZED THAT THE LEVER FELT TOO SMALL. LUCKILY I MOVED MY HAND TO THE SIGNAL INDICATOR. IF I HAD LIFTED THE CRUISE CONTROL LEVER, THE CAR WOULD HAVE TRIED TO RESUME THE SPEED I HAD BEEN USING ON THE HIGHWAY (65 MPH). 2.) THE TOP OF THE STEERING WHEEL COVERS THE SPEEDOMETER. DRIVERS NEED TO DUCK DOWN TO LOOK THROUGH THE SPOKES TO SEE THEIR SPEED. THE WHEEL IS ADJUSTABLE, I HAD IT AT THE BOTTOM. I AM SIX FEET TALL. *NM

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CLUTCH WAS DEPRESSED AND ALL THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED A TRANSMISSION SEAL. ALSO, THE POWER STEERING FLUID WAS LEAKING AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS ORDERED A NEW RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY. THERE HAS ALSO BEEN A NOISE UNDER THE DASH, BUT THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE A PROBLEM.
