TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AND VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY. There is a backorder(700) from the factory on this product and the wait is at least 3 months! This problem has been confirmed by the dealership as well as the backorder. The vehicle will not go in gear even with the engine running. The message displays as vehicle is already in desired gear even when it is not, and you cannot put it unto any gear even neutral, as it gets stuck in park!. The code is PO658, and the CHECK ENGINE light is illuminated and can happen without warning while vehicle is parked, stopped or idling so far as I experienced. The ignition will not turn off and the battery must be disconnected in order not to drain the battery. If this were to happen in traffic or or an intersection we all could have been KILLED. It has happened 4 times to us, Two times it started working on its own and Two times requiring a tow which cost me $600. Once at the dealer they charge a $140 non-refundable diagnosis fee and then can't fix the problem because they don't have the parts and can't get them. I think allowing Vehicles to have electronic shifting transmissions instead of manual shifters is a HUGE safety risk! The car only has 70K Highway miles on it and even if it was under warranty we can't get the darn parts. The dealer has to install it because it has to be programmed. The transmission is manufactured by ZF in Germany and they make others for several other car manufacturers. Chrysler uses this transmission across their entire fleet so this failure defect could show up in any of their product line

My car has been at the first dealership (Brewbaker Dodge, Montgomery, Ala.) on November 11, 2020. I got the car back March of 2021. The problem of misfires on cylinder 1 side, hesitation when proceeding from a red light, and stalling out. The problem continued so; I took it to another dealership (Stiver Dodge, Prattville, Ala.) in August 2021. I was given the car back in February 2022 stating to me that the problem may correct itself after being driven until after my birthday (March 2022). So, to this date my car is still at the Dealership and Chrysler Star Team has no clue what is wrong with this car. I'm still paying a car note, insurance, and renewing the license plate for this car every year and moth. Chrysler knows that there is an issue with the 3.6L Pentastar engine. No one wants to help me in this situation, but all parties involved wants my money but no real solution(s). I need someone that's going to advocate for me on my behalf. I just want Chrysler at this point to just put a new engine in the dang car and cover the charges at their expense for their defective engine. Chrysler seriously knows what's going. As long as my car has been at this Dealership For over a year, how could the engineers who designed this engine not know what's wrong with? This car has very low miles to be 8yrs old with major issue. And FCA doesn't want to admit to this engine (3.6L Pentastar) being a defective engine. Look at the class action lawsuits pertaining to this. Please Sir / Ma'am help me make sense of this. Thank you.

The car will consistently slip from park to reverse when you try to exit the car. You have to push the shifter into park twice for it to remain in park. Very dangerous, as it WILL be in reverse if you are not careful exiting the car.

IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SUDDENLY LEAKING OIL AS IN A QUART ON THE PAVEMENT WHERE I HAD PARKED. TOOK IT TO A SERVICE CENTER AND THE OIL FILTER HOUSING COOLER IS CRACKED. HE ADVISED TO NOT DRIVE IT AS THE OIL IS POURING DOWN THE TOP OF THE MOTOR AND COULD CAUSE A FIRE OR OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. UPON TRYING TO ORDER THE PART, IT WOULD SEEM THAT A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THE MANAGER AT OUR SERVICE CENTER WAS TOLD IT WAS ON BACKORDER. 30,000 WAS THE NUMBER HE WAS TOLD OF THIS EXACT PART THAT OTHER PEOPLE WERE ALSO TRYING TO GET. THE VEHICLE SMELLED OF BURNING OIL AND WAS SMOKING WHEN IT WAS LAST DRIVEN. I AM ON WEEK 2 OF NOT HAVE A VEHICLE AND AM LOOKING AT THE VERY LEAST ANOTHER 5 WEEKS, BEFORE THE PART COULD POSSIBLE ARRIVE. IF THIS MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WHY IS NOT A RECALL.

I FOUND INFORMATION ONLINE ABOUT FAILURE OF BOLTS ON DRIVESHAFT OF AWD SYSTEM, AND A RECALL BY FCA USA OF 75,000 2014-2017 CHRYSLER 300'S AND DODGE CHARGERS IN FEBRUARY OF 2017. I CHECKED FOR RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE 0N 1/16/21, AND THERE ARE NO OPEN RECALLS.

AT THE TIME I PLACED IT IN PARK A READING CAME ON THE DASH THAT SAID 'SERVICE TRANS PRESS BRAKE WHEN STOPPED KEY OFF ENGINE TO ENGAGE PARK'. FROM WHAT I COULD SEE THE VEHICLE WAS ALREADY IN PARK. AS I TRIED TO PLACE THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE IT WOULD GO DIRECTLY BACK INTO PARK AS SOON AS I GOT OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL.

I HAVE A 2014 CHRYSLER 300 BASE, WITH AWD. I HAVE 73,000 MILES ON THE CAR. I'VE ALWAYS HAD THE SERVICE KEPT UP. SO, I WAS HAVE A ROUGH NOISE AS I WOULD GO OVER 50 MPH AND IT WOULD BE LIKE A GROWLING NOISE. IT SOUNDED LIKE A FRONT WHEEL BEARING. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL BEARING. THE WARRANTY HAD ENDED AT 70,000 MILES FOR THE DRIVETRAIN AND SO I PUT IT ON MYSELF. I PUT A BRAND NEW HUB ON AND STILL HAD THE NOISE. I TOOK THE CAR INTO ANOTHER GARAGE AND THEY THOUGHT IT WAS THE REAR DRIVE LINE. THEY REPLACED IT AND STILL MAKING THE NOISE. SO, THEY THEN SAID IT WAS THE FRONT DRIVE LINE. I HAD THEM DO IT AND FINALLY. THIS WAS THE FIX. I LOOKED ONLINE AND WATCHED VIDEOS AND WAS NEVER ANYTHING SAYING A DRIVE LINE. I JUST FEEL THAT IT'S SO UNFORTUNATE THAT AT 3,000 MILES OVER AND I'M STUCK PAYING OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS, TO REPLACE A PART OF THE DRIVETRAIN. WHAT I WORRY ABOUT, IS THAT BOTH AXLES WERE ACTUALLY NO GOOD. IT'S JUST THE ONE WAS MAKING THE NOISE. WHAT IF I KEPT DRIVING AND ONE LOCKED UP. THAT'S SCARY AND COULD BECOME LIFE THREATENING. I TRULY HOPE YOU CAN REVIEW MY MESSAGE AND FIND OUT WHY THIS HAPPENED AND IS A POSSIBLE RECALL. 8/30 PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND STEPPED OUT. THE CAR GOES ROLLING BACKWARDS DOWN THE STREET WITH MY DAUGHTER IN IT SCREAMING BLOODY MURDER. LUCKILY MY DRIVER DOOR WAS OPEN. IT CAUGHT MY NEIGHBORS CAR AND JARRED MY DOOR BACKWARDS FORCING THE CAR TO VEER TO THE LEFT AVOIDING A STREET WHERE CARS FLY UP AND DOWN FREQUENTLY. (SAVANNAH WAS FEET AWAY FROM EITHER GOING INTO TRAFFIC OR INTO THE BACK OF SOMEONE'S HOUSE. WE ARE EXTREMELY LUCKY NOTHING HAPPENED OTHER THAN DAMAGES TO A COUPLE OF VEHICLES). MY CAR DOOR DOESN'T SHUT PROPERLY AND IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I FIND OUT THIS IS THE SAME SHIFTER THAT HAS ALLEGEDLY BEEN TIED TO A FAMOUS MAN'S DEATH AND HUNDREDS OF OTHER ACCIDENTS. WHEN I STARTED INTO THE INTERSECTION, SCREEN ON DASH SAID TRANSMISSION SERVICE NEEDED,DO NOT PUT CAR IN N OR P, OR TURN OFF CAR, CONTINUE TO YOUR...TRACTION LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. MY CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT OR MOVE. PEOPLE WERE SWERVING AND HITTING THEIR BRAKES TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH ME. TRYING TO GIVE CAR GAS, AND IT GOING INTO PARK, FINALLY GOT TO CURB. CALLED DEALER, TOLD TO TURN OFF CAR. IT WENT TO ACC MODE AND SHUT OFF. TOW TRUCK DRIVER COULD NOT GET CAR STARTED, HE USED MANUAL OVERRIDE TO LOAD CAR. DEALER DID NOT DIAGNOSE CAR FOR 7 DAYS, THEN SAID IT WAS DEAD BATTERY, COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS. PICKED UP CAR, DROVE 37 MILES, SLOWED DOWN TO MERGE ONTO A COUNTY HIGHWAY, CAR JERKED, AND SAME MESSAGE CAME UP, SAME LIGHTS CAME ON. MANAGED TO PULL OFF ROAD. TURNED OFF CAR. IT STAYED IN RUN MODE WOULD NOT RESTART. CALLED DEALER, HAD CAR TOWED. WHEN CAR GOT TO DEALER, IT STARTED UP ,THEY DROVE IT THREE BLOCKS, SAID NO PROBLEM, NO CODE SHOWN. DEALER SAYS IT IS NOT THE RECALL FIX, I REFUSED TO PICKUP CAR, AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. TOLD DEALER TAKE A 40 MILE DRIVE THEN AROUND TOWN. NO WORD YET

I PURCHASED THIS CHRYSLER 300 IN 2014 AND PAID CASH 25,000 AND ONLY HAVE 17,000 BECAUSE I FEAR FOR MY LIFE TO DRIVE IT. ON SEVERAL OCCASION MY VEHICLE HAS STOPPED WHILE IN MOTION WITHOUT WARNING AND THE GEAR SLIPS FROM DRIVE TO PARK. WHILE EXITING MY VEHICLE AFTER I HAVE PARKED MY CAR SLIPS INTO DRIVE CAUSING ME TO STUMBLE. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO AID ME BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WOULD STOP WITH WARNING. ONCE WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY MY CAR STOPPED WHILE TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND WENT INTO PARK ON ITS OWN, I NOTIFIED THE TOWING COMPANY AND IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP. WHILE AT A DEALERSHIP I WAS NOTIFIED OF A DEFECT AND THEY STATED THEY WOULD FIX IT. ON A SECOND OCCASION WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK IN MY DRIVEWAY THE CAR CONTINUED TO PUT ITSELF IN PARK AND WHILE TRYING TO REVERSE MY CAR WENT INTO PARK. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS I AGAIN CONTACTED A TOWING COMPANY WHERE THEY TOWED ME TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY AGAIN ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION. ON FEBRUARY 7, 2016, MY HUSBAND PARKED HIS 2014 CHRYSLER 300 IN A PARKING SPOT IN A PARKING LOT AND EXITED THE VEHICLE WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. I WAS SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WITH OUR 11 YEAR-OLD CHILD BEHIND ME AND 9 YEAR-OLD CHILD SEATED BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SEAT. ALL 3 OF US WERE WEARING SEAT BELTS. MY HUSBAND WALKED ACROSS THE PARKING LOT AND DOWN THE BLOCK. I WAS TEXTING SOMEONE ON MY CELLPHONE WHEN MY 11 YEAR-OLD EXCLAIMED THAT THE CAR WAS MOVING. WITHOUT LOOKING UP FROM MY PHONE, I EXPLAINED TO HER THAT IT WAS PROBABLY THE ILLUSION OF A CAR PULLING INTO OR OUT OF THE PARKING SPOT BESIDE US. SHE SCREAMED, "NO THE CAR IS DEFINITELY MOVING!" THE CAR WAS ACCELERATING BACKYWARDS. I MADE EVERY EFFORT TO MOVE THE GEARSHIFT, GRAB THE STEERING WHEEL AND HIT THE BRAKES BUT DUE TO THE SIZE OF THE LARGE CONSOLE I COULD NOT SWING MY LEG OVER TO REACH THE BRAKE. THE CAR MOVED IN REVERSE ACROSS THE PARKING LOT AND STRUCK AN UNOCCUPIED VEHICLE THAT WAS PARKED ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE LOT. THANKFULLY, THE CAR DID NOT STRIKE ANY PEDESTRIANS OR OCCUPIED VEHICLES, AS THIS WAS A BUSY PARKING LOT. OUR CHRYSLER ENDURED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE WHILE THE DAMAGE TO THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS MINOR. MY CHILDREN AND I WERE EXTREMELY UPSET. WE ARE VERY GRATEFUL THAT NO ONE WAS PHYSICALLY INJURED BUT WE WERE ALL QUITE SHAKEN BY THE OUT OF CONTROL CAR. THE IMPACT WAS SUCH THAT IT MAKE A LOUD "THUD" SOUND WHEN IT COLLIDED WITH THE OTHER VEHICLE AND JOLTED US A BIT. WE WERE COMPLETELY SHOCKED THAT THE CAR SEEMINGLY ON IT'S OWN WENT FROM "PARK" INTO "REVERSE". MY HUSBAND HAD TIME TO WALK ACROSS THE PARKING LOT AND DOWN THE BLOCK BEFORE THE VEHICLE STARTED TO MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS LONG OUT OF HIS SIGHT BEFORE IT STARTED TO MOVE. IF YOU PARK AND ATTEMPT TO SHIFT FROM DRIVE TO PARK SOMETIMES IT MAKES IT AND SOMETIMES IT ENDS UP IN REVERSE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE ENGINE DOES NOT TURN OFF WHEN YOU PUSH THE STOP BUTTON AND AS YOU STEP OUT THE CAR TAKES OFF BACKWARDS. ALSO WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE SOMETIMES IT GOES PAST DRIVE AND INTO LOW, SO I ENDED UP DRIVING FOR A TIME STUCK IN LOW GEAR AND NOT KNOWING UNTIL YOU GO TO SLOW OR STOP AND IT FEELS LIKE THE BRAKES ARE STUCK ON SO YOU START LOOKING FOR THE REASON. I HAVE HATED THIS CAR ALMOST SINCE I LEASED IT IN DECEMBER OF 2014. I HAVE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL ISSUES WITH MY TRANSMISSION SHIFTING ERRATICALLY AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THIS IS A BRAND NEW CAR. I HAVE IT SERVICED SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE AFTER I FIRST PURCHASED IT IN JANUARY 2015. THEY SAID IT NEEDED AN SOFTWARE UPDATE. IT WORKED AND SHIFTED NORMAL FOR ONE DAY AND AFTER THAT I CAN STEP ON THE GAS LIGHTLY AND IT SHIFTS UNCONTROLLABLY, FROM FIRST TO SECOND AND/OR HAS TROUBLE GETTING OUT OF FIRST OR SECOND GEAR AND SLAMS INTO THIRD GEAR BY A JOLT INTO EACH GEAR. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS AT STOP LIGHTS WHEN I BARELY STEP ON THE GAS AND SEVERAL TIMES IT JAUNTS FORWARD QUICKER THAN EXPECTED WITH MY FOOT BARELY ON THE GAS. OR I CAN STEP ON THE GAS PEDDLE AND IT DOESN'T GO OR FIND THE GEAR UNTIL A SUDDEN THRUST FORWARD WHICH HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND WILL BE TAKING IT AGAIN AND THEY DON'T HAVE AN ANSWER WHY IT DOES THAT. ALL THEY DO IS SAY THEY'LL RE-LOAD THE SOFTWARE AND IT DOESN'T HELP FIX THE SITUATION. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND WAS WAITING BEYOND A REASONABLE TIMEFRAME FOR THE PART TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

I WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO THE EXPRESSWAY SHOULDER AND SHUT THE ENGINE THEN RESTARTED IT, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE ICON STILL WAS ILLUMINATED, AND THE SHIFTER WOULD NOT SHIFT. IT WAS LOCKED. NO P, R, N, D, OR S. I TRIED TO MAKE A TELEPHONE CALL VIA THE VEHICLE'S BLUETOOTH BUT ALL MY DATA BASE WAS GONE. IT WAS WORKING EARLIER IN THE DAY. I SHUT THE ENGINE AND EXITED THE CAR TO MAKE A CELL PHONE CALL. WHEN I RE-ENTERED THE CAR I WAS ABLE TO ENGAGE THE SHIFTER TO THE DRIVE POSITION, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE ICON WAS STILL ILLUMINATED, AS WELL AS OTHER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ICONS WERE MISSING AND SOME WERE PRESENT THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN. HOWEVER THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE UNTIL ABOUT 3000 RPM. WHEN IT FINALLY DID MOVE, IT MOVED VERY SLOWLY, RELATIVE TO THE ENGINE SPEED. FINALLY IT SHIFTED TO A HIGHER GEAR AND SEEMED TO DRIVE NORMALLY. I EXITED THE EXPRESSWAY AND DROVE AROUND THE RESIDENTIAL AREA TO RE-ASSURE MYSELF THAT THE CAR WOULD GET ME HOME SAFELY. IT WAS LATE SATURDAY NIGHT AND THE DEALER WAS CLOSED. I RE-ENTERED THE EXPRESSWAY TO RERUN TO MY HOME. I NEVER KNEW WHAT GEAR THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN. PADDLE SHIFTERS WERE INOPERATIVE. WHILE DRIVING HOME I THE NAVIGATION MAP WAS INTERMITTENTLY GLITCHING, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ICONS SOME MISSING MANY FLASHING. ALSO NO CELL PHONE. THE DEALER CLAIMED THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED, BUT THE WORK ORDER STATED 181905A1 TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE, SOFTWARE FLASHED. I ASSUMED THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED BUT BECAUSE IT TOOK PLACE ONLY ONE MONTH OLD CAR, I BECAME APPREHENSIVE. THEY NEVER MENTIONED ANYTHING ABOUT THE ELECTRONIC/TIPM FAILURES THAT OCCURRED WITH THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. AT THIS TIME I HAD NO IDEA WHAT A TIPM WAS ! SLIGHTLY MORE THAN ONE MONTH LATER MY VEHICLE FAILED AGAIN THAT WAS A TIPM FAILURE.

I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID I COULD STOP IN THE NEXT WEDNESDAY (1/14/15). ON THE 13TH I WAS MAKING THE FIRST TURN FROM MY HOME AND THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT FROM FIRST GEAR. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD ME COME IN. MY HOUSE WAS ONLY A COUPLE MILES AWAY SO I DROVE IN THERE WHILE STAYING UNDER 20MPH. A SHORT WHILE AFTER I WAS HOME, I STARTED THE CAR, CHECK ENGINE STILL LIT. WHILE STILL PARKED NOW I COULD SHIFT TO SPORT MODE. DROVE A SHORT DISTANCE IN DRIVE, BUT ECO NOT SHOWING IN INFOMAT DISPLAY. SPORT MODE/PADDLE SHIFTERS NOW WERE WORKING BUT WOULD NOT SHIFT TO 8TH GEAR. PRIOR TO THIS EVENT, AND HOURS BEFORE IT TOOK PLACE.....I PAIRED MY CELL PHONE AND IT AUTOMATICALLY LOADED ALL MY CONTACTS. I USED BOTH CONTACTS AND VOICE RECOGNITION TO MAKE CALLS NO PROBLEMS. SO IT WAS WORKING GREAT EARLIER IN THE DAY. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM TOOK PLACE [EXPLAINED ABOVE] I TRIED TO MAKE A CALL, AND THE SCREEN SHOWED "NO PHONE CONNECTED"..
