There a problem with car stalling and dying because of power being lost to tcm because of tipm. Dealer had my car for 7 weeks and $1900 changing tcm and problems still exist. Didn't even make 10 miles from dealership. Very dangerous
The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300C. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds during traffic congestion, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power and stalled. Upon restarting the vehicle, the vehicle hesitated but seemed to return to normal functionality. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Vehicle stalls when idling or coming to a stop, mainly at low RPM. No codes are thrown. Gas tank has been replaced and fuel pump is new, still stalls. There are many reports on the Chrysler 300 Forum regarding the same situation. Many people have thrown good money after bad towards parts and still there's issues. I have my car at the Moss Bros Dealership in Riverside Ca. now for 5 days to try and repair this Safety Issue! 3/28/23. Car has stalled approximately 20 times, 4 times which were on the freeway. The car will start up and run fine for several days and then it acts up. Could be a number of things, but with no codes, pretty hard to diagnose the stalling issue.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF FAILURE AND REFERRED HER BACK TO THE DEALER FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.

CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF OUT OF NOWHERE EVEN GOING 55 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT! STARTS JUMPING GEARS MAINLY WHEN THE RPM IS AT 1 GOING INTO 2. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE LIGHTS IN THE CAR FLICKER. AFTER THE CAR DIES OUT, WHEN YOU RESTART IT ITS STUCK IN NEUTRAL EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE IN DRIVE. ONCE YOU SHUT IT OFF AGAIN AND RESTART IT, ITS AS IF NOTHING WAS WRONG. THERE IS A BRAND NEW ALTERNATOR AND A BRAND NEW BATTERY IN THE CAR AND IT STILL SHUTS DOWN WHETHER YOU'RE GOING 55 ON A HIGHWAY OR SITTING AT LIGHT READY TO TAKE OFF AND IT DIES OUT THEN AS WELL. PROBLEM: MOMENTARY LOSS OF POWER, CHECK ENGINE AND ETC LIGHTS FLASH. SOMETIMES STALLS COMPLETELY (WHEN VERY SLOW OR STOPPED). IT HAS STOPPED ON ME A COUPLE OF TIMES WHILE TURNING. TO STALL WHILE TURNING ACROSS TRAFFIC IS UNSAFE. PARTS REPLACED SO FAR: GAS TANK (RECALL) GAS PUMP ACCELERATOR PEDAL DIAGNOSIS: APPARENT INTERMITTENT CONNECTION AT THE PCM. LAST REPAIR ATTEMPT(11/29/17) THE TECHNICIAN REPAIRED THE CONNECTION BY ALIGNING THE PINS (APPARENTLY SOME HAD PUSHED THROUGH THE BOARD) & CLEANING THE CONNECTION. IT HAS WORKED FINE FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS SINCE THEN, BUT IS FAILING AGAIN. THE TECHNICIAN NOW SAYS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE), POSSIBLY DUE TO BROKEN SOLDER JOINTS ON THE BOARD THAT CANNOT BE REPAIRED. THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO PCMS AVAILABLE FROM DEALERS AND THERE ARE 67 UNITS ON BACKORDER IN THE PAST FEW WEEKS . . . MANY WITH SIMILAR FAILURE MODES. FROM THE REPAIR SHOP: "DIAGNOSED AND TRACED MULTIPLE FAULTS TO COMMUNICATION LOSS AT POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE. REMOVED UNIT FROM HOLDER AND WHILE ENGINE IS RUNNING IF THE UNIT IT TAPPED OR SHAKEN THE ENGINE WILL STUMBLE OR STALL. - CONTACTED COMPUTER REPAIR SHOP AND THIS IS VERY COMMON ISSUE FOR SEVERAL CHRYSLER IN LAST MONTH OR SO . THE MAIN PROCESSOR GETS LOOSE ON CIRCUIT BOARD BUT THE CONTACTS ARE SO TINY REPAIR IS NOT POSSIBLE. NO LOCAL DEALERS HAVE UNIT AND THERE ARE 67 ON BACK ORDER IN LAST WEEKS."

LUCKILY CAR WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN PROBLEM OCCURRED AND I WAS ABLE TO LOOK UP THIS ISSUE ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH CHRYSLER VEHICLES. APPARENTLY THERE WAS A K39 RECALL RELATING TO THIS SAME GEAR SHIFT PROBLEM. BUT FOR SOME REASON, THAT RECALL ONLY COVERED THE 2005-2007 300 LX MODELS, NOT THE 300C MODEL. ABOUT FIVE MONTHS LATER (2016) IT HAPPENS AGAIN, ENGINE STALLS OUT OF NOWHERE ON THE FREEWAY. THIS TIME IT WOULDN'T START SO I HAD IT TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER TWO MONTHS OF THEM HAVING MY CAR THEY SAID IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SO I AGREED TO REPLACE IT. TWO MONTHS LATER SAME THING AGAIN SO OBVIOUSLY THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WASN'T THE PROBLEM. MIGHT I ADD THAT RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING THERE IS A HARD "BUCK" FROM THE TRANSMISSION, LIKE IT WANTS TO LOCK UP. I'VE BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP WITH THIS PROBLEM FOR TWO YEARS NOW AND CHRYSLER CLAIMS TO NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I AM TERRIFIED EVERY TIME I'M IN THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD THE FUEL TANK REPLACED ALREADY BECAUSE OF THE STALLING THAT WAS OCCURRING AFTER FUEL FILL UP. THAT TOOK CARE OF THAT SPECIFIC STALLING SCENARIO. THEY'VE CHARGED ME TO FIX EVERYTHING FROM EGR VALVES TO PCMS TO SPARK PLUGS. NOTHING HAS WORKED.THEN FINALLY I DECIDE TO DO SOME DEEP RESEARCH, THAT'S WHEN I DECIDED TO FILE MY COMPLAINT. THERE ARE 2 MAJOR ISSUES I HAVE. WHEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, I'LL LOSE ALL POWER AND THROTTLE RESPONSE FOR A SPLIT SECOND, THEN IT'LL KICK BACK IN. IT'S EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, TO SAY THE LEAST. THE MORE FREQUENT PROBLEM, IS THE CAR COMPLETELY CUTTING OFF WHILE EITHER AT IDLE, OR TRAVELING AT A LOWER SPEED. BOTH SITUATIONS HAPPEN ALMOST ALWAYS DIRECTLY AFTER I PUT GAS IN MY CAR. THIS HAPPENS SO MUCH THAT IT IS BECOMING UNBEARABLE. SOMETIME IT STARTS BACK UP, AND SOMETIMES I HAVE TO WAIT A MINUTE OR TWO. IT'S RIDICULOUS. I DON'T MIND PAYING TO HAVE MY CAR SERVICED. HOWEVER, DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, KNOW THAT'S THE PROBLEM, AND LET'S GET IT FIXED. DON'T RUN ME THROUGH $3,000 WORTH OF REPAIRS, KNOWING THAT YOU'VE GOT COUNTLESS OTHERS WITH THE SAME MODEL AND MODEL YEAR, COMING IN AROUND THE SAME TIME, COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. IT HAD LESS THAN 33,000 MILES AND WAS IN GREAT CONDITION. WE ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS CAR FOR ABOUT THE FIRST YEAR, BUT THEN THE TROUBLE STARTED AND IT IS NOW AN ONGOING NIGHTMARE. IT STARTED STALLING AND DYING CONSTANTLY, USUALLY WHEN WE WERE GOING SLOW OR STOP AND GO, BUT A FEW TIMES WHEN DRIVING 35-45 MPH. WE HAD PURCHASED A 2 YEAR/20,000 ADDED WARRANTY WHEN WE BOUGHT THE CAR (EXPIRES IN NOV 2013 WHICH HAS ME WORRIED) SO ALL OF THE SERVICING AND REPAIRS HAVE BEEN DONE AT OUR LOCAL DEALER. SO FAR, THEY HAVE DONE THROTTLE BODY CLEAN, CLEANED A/F BOX AND REPLACED FILTER, COOLANT FLUSH, STEERING SYSTEM FLUSH, FUEL KIT, CHANGED OUT FUEL TANK, VAPOR CANISTER, LEAK DETECTION PUMP FILTER, NEW FACTORY BATTERY, COMPLETE TUNE UP, OIL CHANGES, AND MORE. NOT ALL OF THIS WAS COVERED BY THE WARRANTY, SO WE HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS OF OUR OWN MONEY ON REPAIRS AND RENTAL CAR ALL THE TIMES IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SINCE IT IS OUR ONLY CAR. ON OCTOBER 16, WE HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER BECAUSE IT WAS DYING AGAIN AND WOULDN'T STAY CRANKED ONCE PUT IN GEAR AND START MOVING. IN THE TWO YEARS WE HAVE HAD THIS CAR, WE HAVE ONLY PUT ABOUT 10,000 MILES ON IT, IT HAS LESS THAN 43,000 MILES. AFTER GETTING THE VEHICLE RESTARTED I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE FROM THE STOPPED POSITION BUT DRIVING POWER TRAIN WAS FAIRLY ERRATIC AS THE CAR ATTEMPTED TO LURCH FORWARD OR ACCELERATE UNPREDICTABLY THEN WOULD PULL BACK BY NEARLY STALLING. THIS CONTINUED FOR SEVERAL MILES BEFORE REACHING MY DRIVEWAY. THE CAR WHILE IN NEUTRAL LOPED SUBSTANTIALLY FROM 2000 RPM TO 100RPM SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE STALLING. ATTEMPTING TO START THE CAR AFTER STALLING WAS SUCCESSFUL. LEAVING THE CAR PARKED AND OFF FOR 60 MINUTES HAD NO BENEFICIAL EFFECT. AFTER RETURNING THE STARTING WAS VERY DIFFICULT AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES WERE NOT LIT UNTIL THE CAR STARTED AGAIN. THEN THE NEXT MORNING IT RAN FINE UNTIL I FILLED IT UP AGAIN AND IT DID THE SAME THING STALLED RIGHT AFTER I FILLED IT WITH GAS I CHECKED WITH THE LOCAL DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND THAT IT IS AN ISSUE WITH THE DESIGN OF THE GAS TANK AND PURGE VALVE THAT ONLY CAN BE CORRECTED BY REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL TANK. I CHECKED ONLINE AND THIS AN ISSUE HAS HAPPENED FOR MANY OWNERS AND THEY HAVE BEEN TOLD THE SAME THING BY THERE DEALERS. IT IS A FACTORY DESIGN ERROR THAT ONLY BE CORRECTED BY THE FUEL TANK REPLACEMENT AS WELL AS THE PURGE VALVE. THE REASON IT STALLS IS THAT WHEN FILLED UP THE TANK AND PURGE VALE FLOODS THE THROTTLE BODY WITH RAW FUEL AND THE CAR STALLS THIS STALLING CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT VERY EASY AS WELL AS EFFECTING THE EMISSIONS OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE REPLACED MANY ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS RECOMMENDED BY THE DEALER INCLUDING THE PCM. BEFORE I CHANGED THE PCM, I WOULD HAVE TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND TURN THE SWITCH TO RESTART THE CAR. THEY INDICATED THAT IF THE ISSUE RE-OCCURS, THE VEHICLE WILL POSSIBLY NEED A PCM OR IGNITION SWITCH. MY IMPRESSION IS THAT THEY ARE GUESSING AT WHAT THE ISSUE MAY BE. THE DAY AFTER THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO ME, THE SAME SUDDEN STALLING/LOSS OF POWER ISSUES RECURRED ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE DIAGNOSTIC LIGHT HAS NOT COME ON. SOMETIMES WHEN THE ENGINE IS RESTARTED AND PUT INTO GEAR, THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ENGAGE IMMEDIATELY, BUT AFTER A VERY BRIEF DELAY CAUSING A "JUMP" INTO GEAR WHEN IT DOES ENGAGE. THE ESP BAS LIGHT COMES ON A MAJORITY OF THE TIME THIS HAPPENS. SOMETIMES THE GAUGES ALL DROP TO ZERO WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING. ALMOST ALWAYS, I CAN FEEL IN THE RUNNING OF THE ENGINE THAT SOMETHING IS NOT QUITE (ALMOST IMPERCEPTIVE MISSING) RIGHT BEFORE THIS HAPPENS. I WAS DRIVING NORTH ON THE NJTP AND WAS IN THE PROCESS OF PASSING ANOTHER CAR WHEN SUDDENLY MY CAR WENT INTO NEUTRAL OR DISENGAGED FROM THE TRANSMISSION. MY 2006 CHRYSLER 300 STUCK IN PARK IN A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT. WAITED 2 HRS FOR A TOW TRUCK IN THE HOT AZ HEAT. TRUCK DRIVER SAID THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR CHRYSLER AND WHAT HE GETS THE MOST CALLS FOR. DEALERSHIP ALSO STATED IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM. I WAS THE 3RD CAR THAT DAY COMING INTO THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. CASHIER STATED IT HAPPENS EVERYDAY AND CHRYSLER SHOULD RECALL. IT IS A PLASTIC PIECE THAT BREAKS ON THE GEARSHIFT. IT WAS EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR. THEY LEAD ME TO BELIEVE IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN. CHRYSLER SHOULD RECALL THE CARS AND FIX WITH A DURABLE PART AT THEIR EXPENSE. IT MAKES ME NERVOUS TO KNOW IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN SINCE I DRIVE BACK AND FORTH TO SAN DIEGO AND DON'T WANT THIS TO HAPPEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DESERT. *TR

2006 CHRYSLER 300 SRT8. TRANSMISSION LOCKS IN PARK. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL FORUMS REGARDING THIS TYPE OF COMPLAINT. A PART MADE OF PLASTIC COMMONLY BREAKS COSTING A LARGE REPAIR BILL. THE PART IS NOT A REGULAR MAINTENANCE ITEM. I BELIEVE THERE IS A RECALL ON THE 2005 MODEL WHERE THEY REFER TO IT AS A "PAWL." IT MAY ALSO NOT ALLOW THE DRIVER TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, BUT I'M NOT HAVING THAT PROBLEM. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300C WHICH WAS PURCHASED IN JUNE 2007. DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE ON THE VEHICLE, THE LEFT OUTER TIE ROD WAS LOOSE AND THE DEALER MADE REPAIRS ACCORDINGLY. WITHIN THE NEXT 3,000 MILES, DURING A ROUTINE MAINTENANCE CHECK, THE CONTACT REQUESTED THAT THE DEALER INSPECT THE LEFT AND RIGHT OUTER TIE ROD FOR GENERAL PURPOSES. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE RIGHT TIE ROD WAS ALSO DEFECTIVE. THE TIE RODS WERE INSPECTED A SECOND TIME AND THE DEALER FOUND THE LEFT TIE ROD WAS LOOSE. THE TIE RODS WERE REPLACED A THIRD TIME. THERE WERE NO RELATED RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,890. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,000. UPDATED 03/04/10 *BF TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS LEAKING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE PLUG ADAPTER.
