IN ADDITION, THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE INDICATOR RANDOMLY FLASHED AND THE GEARS INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS ALSO INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V352000 (AIR BAGS). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000. TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED A "SAFETY RECALL NOTICE" FOR THIS VEHICLE. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO ABERDEEN AUTO CENTER IN ABERDEEN, SD, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT REPLACE IT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS ORIGINALLY REGISTERED IN CANADA. WHAT DO I DO?

STILL WAITING ON THE LETTER FROM CHRYSLER ABOUT THE RECALL... CALLED THE DEALER TODAY AND THEY WILL NOT GIVE ME A LOANER CAR AND THEY WANT TO KEEP MY CAR ALL DAY. THE DRIVER AIRBAG INFLATOR HOUSING MAY RUPTURE, DUE TO EXCESSIVE INTERNAL PRESSURE, DURING NORMAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT EVENTS. THIS CONDITION IS MORE LIKELY TO OCCUR IF THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN EXPOSED TO HIGH LEVELS OF ABSOLUTE HUMIDITY FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME. AN INFLATOR RUPTURE, DURING AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT EVENTS, COULD RESULT IN METAL FRAGMENTS STRIKING AND POTENTIALLY SERIOUSLY INJURING THE VEHICLE OCCUPANT(S).
UNDER NORMAL DRIVING THE ESP/BAS, AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS CHIME AND ILLUMINATE. CHRYSLER DEALER HAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE IS A SHORT IN THE CLOCKSPRING, AND ADVISED ME THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS I COULD LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND/OR THE AIR BAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. I HAD CLOCKSPRING REPLACED, AND YES I DO HAVE THE OLD PART THAT IS DEFECTIVE. *TR
