OUR CAR WILL SHIFT PERFECTLY ONE DAY AND DON'T WANT TO SHIFT THE NEXT SECOND FOR NP REASON, WE HAVE REPLACED THE MODULATOR.. COOLANT TEMP SENSOR.. WE HAVE ALSO EVEN RECABLIORATED THE SHIFTING PATTERN AND STILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM.. IS THIS GOING TO KEEP HAPPENING OR IS THERE SOMETHING I CAN DO TO FIX IT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 CHRYSLER CIRRUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE THEN SHIFTED OUT OF NEUTRAL, BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OUT OF FIRST GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

TRANSMISSION WITHOUT WARNING EITHER SHIFTS DOWN INTO SECOND GEAR AND WILL NOT SHIFT UP OR WORSE THE TRANSMISSION GOES LIMP WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED IN OTHER WORDS YOU END UP COASTING AND COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT, THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED TO ME I WAS GOING 65 MPH ON THE FREEWAY. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE ROAD SO I COULD COAST OFF AND COME TO A STOP. IF I HAD BEEN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC IN EITHER THE CENTER OR LEFT HAND LANE THERE WOULD BE NO WAY FOR ME TO AVOID OTHER CARS AND THIS WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE CHRYSLER DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS A FAULTY SOLENOID PACK AND THEY REPLACED IT FOR $900+ DOLLARS. THE CAR RAN FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND THE SHIFTING DOWN AND LIMP EPISODES BEGAN AGAIN. I NOW HAVE A CAR WITH 45000 MILES PARKED IN MY GARAGE AND AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. THERE ARE DOZENS OF BLOGS ON THE INTERNET DESCRIBING THE SAME PROBLEM AND I DO NOT SEE ANY RECALLS BUT THIS IS CERTAINLY A LIFE THREATENING HAZARD. UNFORTUNATELY THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM THAT HAPPENS WITH NO WARNING. *TR

I BOUGHT A 1995 CHRYSLER CIRRUS LXI AND FOR THE FIRST LITTLE WHILE IT WAS GREAT, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 62 MPH AND THE CAR SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL I SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 30MPH AND IT DROPPED INTO GEAR BUT IT WOULD NOT SHIFT FROM FIRST GEAR. NOW SOMETIMES IT WILL SHIFT FINE AND OTHER TIMES IT WILL NOT SHIFT AT ALL. AND MY A/C QUIT WORKING AND THE RPM GAUGE STOPPED WORKING AT AROUND THE SAME TIME AS THE SHIFTING ISSUES STARTED. *TR

I'VE HAD MY ENGINE CHECKED BACK IN MAY OF 05 BY THE DEALER THEY SAID IT WAS ENGINE MISFIRE,THE DISTRIBUTOR IGNITION WAS BAD. THEY CHARGED ME $321 JUST TO CHECK IT,THEN I PAID $276 TO GET IT FIXED. THE CAR HAS HAD A DRIP EVER SINCE. IN THE PAST 6 TO 8 MONTHS OR LONGER I'VE HAD A DRIP FROM THE ENGINE THAT CAN'T BE FIXED , I RECENTLY HAD MY CAR WORKED ON IT WAS IN THE SHOP FOR A MONTH IT COST ME $2500 TO REPAIR AND IT STILL HAS A LEAK. IT'S BACK THERE AGAIN BECAUSE IT NEEDS THAT EXPANSION PLUG AND RETAINING BRACKET THAT ONLY THE DEALER CAN PROVIDE ACCORDING TO EVERY SITE BUT THE PLACE THE CAR COMES FROM. I'M ALSO HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WHICH I'VE HAD SINCE I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE. BECAUSE I NEED A SHIFT MECHANISM AND CABLE FROM THE DEALER ACCORDING TO EVERY SITE BUT WHERE THE CAR COMES FROM. A FEW OF THE PROBLEMS THAT ARE ON THE LIST I'VE EITHER GOT FIXED OR GOT AN ESTIMATE FOR.(ONE ) OF THE PROBLEMS ON THE LIST ,THE DEALER SENT SOMETHING IN THE MAIL AND I GOT IT TAKEN CARE OF BY THE DEALER,IT WAS THE( TRANS. THE FIRST FAILURE WAS ON DEC 19 2005, I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT APPROX. 65 MPH AND THE ENGINE QUIT RUNNING RESULTING IN LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES ALSO THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO A LOWER GEAR IT JUST FREE WHEELED. AFTER BRING THE CAR TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AND PUTTING THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK IT RESTARTED. THIS FAILURE HAS OCCURRED THREE MORE TIMES THIS WEEK. *NM

DT: WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY PLACED CAR INTO CRUISE AT ABOUT 77 OR 78 MPH. WHEN LOOKED AT SPEEDOMETER IT WAS AT ABOUT 60. MPH. ENGINE WAS RUNNING BUT NOT IN GEAR. MOVED SHIFT, BUT FOUND IT WAS STILL IN NEUTRAL. VEHICLE WAS COASTING, WHEN SLOWING TO ABOUT 30 MPH IT WENT IN LOW GEAR. HAVE TO PULL OVER IN EMERGENCY LANE AND SHUT OFF ENGINE AND RESTART TO GET VEHICLE TO DRIVE. SOMETIMES THIS MAY BE HAVE TO BE PERFORMED AS MUCH AS 25 TIMES. WHEN IT DOES GO INTO DRIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND MAY GO AS LITTLE AS 20-25 MILES BEFORE IT GOES INTO NEUTRAL AND WILL HAVE TO REPEAT THIS RITUAL. TOOK TO DEALER 5 TIMES FOR ABOUT 5-6 WEEKS. DEALER REPLACED IGNITION SWITCH AND LOCK. THIS DID NOT HELP EITHER. LAST TIME CHANGED SOP SHIFT SOLENOID. VEHICLE IS NOW WORSE THAN BEFORE AND CONSUMER SPENT $1,000 FOR REPAIRS THAT DID NOT HELP.*AK *TT *NM

WHEN DRIVING 30-60 MPH TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTS SENDING RPMS THROUGH THE ROOF. SOMETIMES I CAN PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE CAR TO RESET THE COMPUTER AND SOMETIMES NOT. THIS HAPPENED FOR THE FIRST TIME 1 MONTH AFTER PURCHASING CAR USED. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO DID AN OVERHAUL ON THE TRANSMISSION, GAVE IT BACK TO US, AND PROBLEM RECURRED 5 DAYS LATER. TURNED OUT TO BE THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SHORTED. NOW THREE YEARS LATER THIS IS HAPPENING AGAIN. IT'S NOT VERY SAFE TO BE TRAVELING AT 60 MPH ON A FREEWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN ONLY BE ABLE TO GO 30 MPH. *JB

1995 CHRYSLER CIRRUS IS CONTINUALLY DOWNSHIFTING INTO 2ND GEAR AND STAYS THERE. I HAVE TRIED TO HAVE IT FIXED AND TO NO AVAIL. THE SOLENOID PACK WAS REPLACED TWICE AND THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THIS WAS A COSTLY "REPAIR" THAT ACCOMPLISHED NOTHING. I EVEN GOT A SECOND OPINION FROM AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND IT WAS IN ERROR ALSO. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT IS EVIDENTLY BEING EXPERIENCED BY MANY CHRYSLER OWNERS. *AK

WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THE CAR WILL JUST LOSE POWER, START SLOWING DOWN, THE RPM WILL RISE TO OVER 5000 RPMS. HAVE TO DRIVE AT UNDER 40 MILES/HR JUST TO TRY AND KEEP THE RPM UNDER 4500. THIS IS SCARLY WHEN YOU GOT KIDS IN THE CAR AND ON A HIGHWAY. THIS HAS BECOME AN EVERYDAY PROBLEM I COULD JUST START THE CAR AND THE RPM WILL RISE FASTER THAN THE SPEEDOMETER AND WONT GO DOWN, OR I COULD JUST BE DRIVING AND IT WILL HAPPEN FOR NO REASON AND YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN. JUST TO MENTION ONE AND IN ALL OF THEM SEVERAL PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, I ALSO TOOK TIME TO READ SOME OF THE COMPLAINTS YOU HAVE RECEIVED OVER THE YEARS AND FOUND THE SAME THING. WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS ISSUE WAS LOOKED INTO AND WHAT CAN BE DONE TO CORRECT IT. I BOUGHT THIS CAR 08/12/03. I PAID 8800.00 FOR THE CAR. I BOUGHT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY PLAN FOR 1 YEAR. DUE TO ALL THE PROBLEMS I WAS HAVING I RAN A CARFAX REPORT AND FOUND OUT THIS WAS A RENTAL VEHICLE WHEN PRO CAR BOUGHT IT AT THE AUCTION. THE MANAGER DENIED KNOWING THIS. I TOOK THE CAR IN ON 8/15/03 BECAUSE THE STEERING WAS TIGHTENING UP AND POWER STEERING WAS NONEXISTENT WHEN GOING UNDER 10MPH. SERVICE MAN TOLD ME STEERING RACK BUT THEN THEY TOOK THAT BACK. CAR WAS OVERHEATING, AND SOMETHING WRONG WITH IDLE. THE DEALER COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND SAID THAT OVERHEATING WAS NORMAL UNLESS IT WAS GOING IN THE RED. TOOK IN 08/21..SAME PROBLEMS AS BEFORE BUT NOW TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. CAR WOULD NOT DOWN SHIFT AND WOULD POP OUT OF GEAR TRAVELING DOWN THE HWY DOING 65MPH..CAR WOULD INSTANTLY SLOW DOWN AND HAD TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER ALMOST GETTING IN AN ACCIDENT TWICE. NOW WAS OVERHEATING INTO THE RED. CALLED 08/25 ONCE AGAIN THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE PROBLEMS. WENT IN 08/26 DROVE THE CAR WITH SERVICE MANAGER. OVERHEATING OCCURRED AGAIN. THEY SAID A FAN WAS UNPLUGGED...SHOWED THEM IDLE THEY SPRAYED WIRES DOWN WITH WATER. SHOWED STEERING PROBLEM, THEY REPLACED POWER STEERING RACK. TRANSMISSION DID NOT ACT UP AT TIMES BUT NOTHING WAS DONE WITH THAT. 09/18/03 TOOK CARE IN WHILE TRANSMISSION WAS OUT OF GEAR. THEY FIXED A SOLENOID PACK. PICKED UP ON THE 19TH ON THE WAY HOME CAR SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR AGAIN. CALLED THEM AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD SEND TO TRANSMISSION SHOP. 10/14/03 TOOK TO RICKS TRANSMISSION SHOP. REPAIRS DONE ON TRANSMISSION. PICKED UP CAR ON 10/15. 10/17/03 CAR BROKE DOWN IN PARKING LOT. TURNED KEY NOTHING HAPPENED AT ALL. PASSERBY SAID DUE TO WORK ON TRANSMISSION THIS WAS MOST LIKELY A NEUTRAL SWITCH THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE REPLACED. 10/20 TOOK CAR INTO PRO CAR AGAIN. EXPLAINED TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND LEMON LAW AND THAT I WAS TIRED OF THE CAR AND DID NOT WANT IT. MANAGER NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING.

FIRST VISIT TO (RYAN CHRYSLER, WANTAGH NY ) MECHANIC REPLACED SOLENOID VALVE BODY ON TRANSMISSION. FISRT DAT BACK CAR CONTINUED TO HAVE PROBLEM. CAR RETURNED TO RYAN CHRYSLER AND SUPPOSEDLY CHECKED FOR THREE DAYS. COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. CAR RETURNED TO OWNER WITH NO EXPLATION AND NO MENTION OF FIRST REPAIR ($600.00) WHICH DID NOT SOLVE PROBLEM. CAR IS NOT SAFE TO OPERATE. DEALER RESPONSE VERY POOR DUE TO SEVERTITY OF PROBLEM. THE ABS BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON AT DIFFERENT TIMES, THE FRONT OF THE CAR "JUMPS" UPON SLOWING TO STOP. THE CAR HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT TROUBLE.

I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THIS NEW VEHICLE. THE MOST SERIOUS OF WHICH HAPPENED THIS WEEK. I HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BALL JOINTS. AFTER SEVERAL TRIPS, I FINALLY GOT THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THE RIGHT ONE. THEY SAID THE LEFT ONE WAS FIND, ALTHOUGH THAT WAS WHERE THE NOISE WAS FROM. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY POWER STEERING RACK. FIVE DAYS AFTER THE RIGHT BALL JOINT WAS REPLACED, THE LEFT BALL JOINT BROKE AS MY 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND THE TIRE FELL OFF. LUCKILY SHE HAD GOTTEN OFF THE 4-LANE HIGHWAY SHE HAD BEEN TRAVELING ON THAT NIGHT.
