WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I HEARD A RATTLING NOISE. AS I LOOKED AROUND THE CARS CABIN TO FIND THE SOURCE OF THE NOISE, I SAW THAT MY BACK GLASS PANEL HAS A GAP IN IN IT. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE, THE RATTLING WORSENED AND THE GLASS PANEL WAS BEGINNING TO COME UNDONE. WHEN I GOT TO MY DESTINATION THE GLASS PANEL IS BARELY HOLDING ON.

IN 2011, THE REAR WINDOW IN MY CONVERTIBLE TOP BECAME UNGLUED FROM THE TOP. CHRYSLER PAID MOST OF THE COST TO REPLACE IT, BUT USED ANOTHER DEFECTIVE TOP AS A REPLACEMENT. AS A RESULT, THE WINDOW IS AGAIN FALLING OUT. CHRYSLER NOW REFUSES TO EVEN DISCUSS THE POSSIBILITY OF ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THIS PROBLEM WITH THE DEFECTIVE GLUE IS WELL DOCUMENTED AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AS WINDOWS FLYING OUT OF MOVING VEHICLES COULD BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

THE REAR WINDOW SEPARATED FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP WHILE I HAD THE CAR PARKED OUTDOORS. I FOUND THE CAR WITH THE REAR WINDOW AREA OPEN AND THE GLASS LYING ON THE INTERIOR OF THE BACKLIGHT AREA. THE GLASS REMAINED CONNECTED TO THE TOP BY ABOUT 1/3 OF THE ORIGINAL GLUE. THE REMAINDER HAD COME APART FROM THE GLUE LEAVING THE GLASS MOSTLY DETACHED.

ONLINE I FOUND THAT THIS CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE WITH OTHER UNCOVERED CARS

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE. WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A CLICKING SOUND AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR GLASS WINDOW SEPARATED FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. THE FAILURE COULD EVENTUALLY CAUSE THE TOP TO DETACH COMPLETELY AS THE GLASS CONTINUED TO STRIKE THE ROLL BAR OF THE DRIVER SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.

BOUGHT A 2005 CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE IN 2006. WAS "NEW" BUT DEALERSHIP PUT 3,000 MILES ON IT. SECURITY SYSTEM NEVER WORKED PROPERLY (CAR NOT RESPONDING TO PANIC BUTTON, SIREN DID NOT WORK). WAS TOLD BY DEALER SERVICE SECURITY DISABLES THE IGNITION, AND PANIC BUTTON NOT WORKING JUST WEAK BATTERY IN REMOTE (WHICH I DID NOT BELIEVE). JANUARY 2013, CAR IN GARAGE,15,000 MILES AND LOCKS WOULD NOT RESPOND TO REMOTE. UNLOCKED CAR WITH KEY. CAR WOULD NOT START, AND WAS DISABLED. HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALER. HAD $900 REPAIR FOR NEW ELECTRONIC ENTRY PART UNDER DASHBOARD. END OF SEPTEMBER 2014, CAR 17,000 MILES, LOCKS DID NOT RESPOND TO REMOTE. OPENED DOOR WITH KEY. SIREN WENT ON, AND IGNITION WAS DISABLED. CAR WOULD NOT START. HAD IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP OCTOBER 7, 2014. CAR STILL AT DEALERSHIP. THEY BELIEVE IT IS ELECTRONIC PART IN TRUNK, CANNOT OPEN TRUNK. WILL COST $350 TO DISASSEMBLE ENOUGH TO GET INTO TRUNK TO CONFIRM THAT IS THE FAULTY PART. ALSO, TOLD ME THERE WAS WATER IN THE DASH BOARD, AND OTHER CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE'S LEAK WATER INTO DASH AND INTO TRUNK CAUSING ELECTRONIC FAILURES. CAR WAS TOWED YESTERDAY AND WAS IN DEALERS LOT LAST NIGHT STRANDED FOR SEVERAL HOURS LAST NIGHT. I HAVE KEPT THE CAR IN GARAGE SINCE I BOUGHT IT, AND ONLY DROVE IT IN NICE WEATHER. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE FINAL COST WILL BE, BUT PROBLEM OF ELECTRICAL FAILURE SEEMS COMMON WITH 2005 CROSSFIRES FROM WHAT I HAVE READ. I NO LONGER TRUST THE CAR. LITERALLY THE DAY AFTER THE RETURN PERIOD ON OUR 2005 CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE WAS UP, WE FOUND OUT THAT THIS CAR HAS A MAJOR DEFECT WHERE THE BACK WINDOW FALLS OUT DUE TO FAILURE OF THE ADHESIVE. THIS ISSUE IS WIDESPREAD AND IS A REAL SAFETY HAZARD. APPARENTLY THE ENTIRE TOP TYPICALLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED IF THIS HAPPENS, NOT JUST A RE-GLUE JOB. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 17,000 MILES AND I'VE DRIVEN IT PROBABLY LESS THAN 50 MILES SINCE BUYING, YET NOW I AM FACED WITH A BIG REPAIR BILL TO MAKE THE CAR SAFE. CHRYSLER SHOULD COVER THIS TOP IN *ANY* CASE WHERE IT OCCURS (NOT JUST IN THE FEW SOUTHERN STATES THEY HAVE DEEMED APPLICABLE FOR COVERAGE). 2005 CHRYSLER CONVERTIBLE TOP RECALL. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE REAR GLASS WINDOW HAD SEPARATED FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. I BOUGHT THIS CAR JUST TWO SHORT YEARS AGO WITH ONLY 12,000 MILES ON IT. A NEIGHBOR OF MINE HAS THE SAME VEHICLE AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF THESE I HAVE SINCE FOUND OUT. CHRYSLER HAD A RECALL ON THIS TOP AND THEY REPLACED HIS TOP FOR FREE AND GAVE HIM A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON IT. WHEN I CALLED THE CHRYSLER RECALL DEPARTMENT THEY SAID MY VIN# DID NOT QUALIFY FOR REPLACEMENT BECAUSE MY CAR WAS SHIPPED TO VIRGINIA AND NOT A SOUTHERN STATE. THAT IS PURE JUNK. A DEFECT IS A DEFECT NO MATTER WHERE THE CAR WAS ORIGINALLY SHIPPED TO. IF I HAD A BIRTH DEFECT WOULD IT MATTER WHAT STATE I WAS BORN IN WHERE THE DEFECT ORIGINATED? AFTER NOTICING THE TSB AND THE FACT THAT CHRYSLER DID IN FACT STATE THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE GLUE ON CERTAIN MODELS, I CALLED CHRYSLER TO INQUIRE ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO SINCE A) THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY AND B) I WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER. I PURCHASED THE VERY WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE IN JUNE, 2013 WITH ONLY 49,000 MILES. CHRYSLER HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THE FACT THAT IT IS A FACTORY DEFECT WITH THESE MODELS....IT ONLY SEEMS REASONABLE THAT THEY CHRYSLER AT LEAST REPLACE THE "DEFECTIVE PART."

ON AUGUST 22, 2013, I DISCOVERED THE BACK WINDOW OF MY CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE WAS DETACHED FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. I THOUGHT MY VEHICLE WAS VANDALIZED. I CONTACTED MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND THE POLICE. THE POLICE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND CONCLUDED THAT IT APPEARS SOMEONE TRIED TO PUSH THE GLASS OUT. UPON INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE FROM MY INSURANCE COMPANY ON 9-3-13 AND REVIEWING THE WEBSITE ON 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE COMPLAINTS, THE ADJUSTER CONCLUDED THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURED DEFECT AND DENIED MY CLAIM. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AN TEAR AND NOT COVERED FOR REPAIRS BY CHRYSLER. THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY DRIVEN FOR 28,277 MILES. I HAVE A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN THAT THERE ARE OVER 25 SERIOUS COMPLAINTS IN REGARDS TO THE BACK WINDOWS OF THE 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE AND NOT ONE RECALL FROM CHRYSLER OR THE HIGHWAY PATROL. I AM ASKING CHRYSLER TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR OF THE BACK WINDOW ON MY 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE LIMITED EDITION. WHILE DRIVING AT 15MPH, I HEARD A RATTLE AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR WINDOW HAD DETACHED ON THREE SIDES. THIS IS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE TO CHRYSLER AND HAS BEEN ADDRESSED BY A TSB. HOWEVER, THIS TSB IS LIMITED TO ONLY CERTAIN STATES. WHEN I PURCHASED MY, I WAS NOT INFORMED OF ITS ORIGIN. MY CAR WAS ORIGINALLY SOLD IN A STATE NOT COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY INCLUDED IN THE TSB DATED 9/8/11. HOWEVER, I BOUGHT AND HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR IN A STATE WHICH IS INCLUDED IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR SIX YEARS AND IT WAS ONE YEAR OLD WHEN PURCHASED. ALL OF THE CROSSFIRES MADE IN THIS YEAR WERE MADE IN GERMANY. CHRYSLER HAS DECLINED TO HONOR THE X31 EXTENDED WARRANTY INCLUDED IN THE 2011 TSB IN MY CASE. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW CHRYSLER CAN REFUSE TO CORRECT A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE. I FEEL CHRYSLER SHOULD BE ORDERED TO RECALL ALL 2005 CROSSFIRE ROADSTERS. REAR WINDOW SEPARATED FROM TOP. LEAKS WATER IN RAIN AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE AT ANY SPEED. DEALER HAD ME CALL CHRYSLER FOR DETAILS ON WARRANTY CODE X31. TSB SB-23035-11REV A CHRYSLER INDICATED EVEN THOUGH THIS VEHICLE'S PROBLEM IS CONSISTANT WITH ALL OTHER COMPLAINTS BEING ADDRESSED BY WARRANTY X31 AND THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING UTILIZED IN THE STATE OF TENNESEE WHERE THE "RECALL" IS ACTIVE THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ORIGINALLY PURCHASED IN ONE OF THE COVERED STATES AND THEREFOE IS NOT COVERED. THIS POLICY IS NOT FAIR AND CONSISITANT. ALL 2005 CROSSFIRES WERE BUILT IN GERMANY, THEREFORE ORIGINATION POINT OR US STATE OF INITIAL SALE SHOULD NOT BE THE INDICATING FACTOR. THEN I LOOKED ON LINE AND THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS OF THE REAR WINDOW IN THE 2005 CROSSFIRE. CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY WILL NOT ASSIST YOU. YOU REACH A CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON THAT TAKES THE INFO AND WE WILL GET BACK TO YOU AFTER INVESTIGATION. EACH TIME THEY CALL TO SAY THEY ARE STILL CHECKING INTO THE SITUATION, FRUSTRATES YOU MORE AND MORE. I ENDED UP ORDERING THE WINDOW AND TOP FROM A PLACE THE DEALERSHIP GAVE ME AND AM WAITING FOR IT TO COME IN. PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR, FROM A CHRYSLER DEALER. IT CAME WITH A PLASTIC WINDOW, WHICH I FOUND OUT, IS NOT FACTORY/STANDARD. THE DEALER REFUSED TO TAKE CARE OF IT. FOUND OUT ABOUT THE X31 AND SB-23035-11REVA BULLETIN, CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT IT, GOT TURNED DOWN BECAUSE WE ARE THE 4TH OWNERS OF THE CAR, AND IT WAS 3,000 OVER THE 100K MILE LIMIT. I WROTE SERGIO MARCHIONNE, THE CEO OF CHRYSLER, GOT A REVIEW, BUT WAS TURNED DOWN AGAIN. TOLD THAT IT "WOULD NOT MAKE GOOD BUSINESS SENSE" TO FIX MY CAR! WHAT!!? THE REAR WINDOW GLASS ON THE ROADSTER HAS SEPARATED FROM THE ROOF LINING. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT CAN NOT BE REPAIRED ONLY REPLACED. THIS PRESENTS A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN THE ADHESIVE FAILS COMPLETELY AND THE GLASS FALLS OUT ON A ROADWAY OR TURNS INTO A PROJECTILE INSIDE THE CAR WHILE DRIVING. WHILE PARKED IN OUR GARAGE THE REAR GLASS WINDOW SEPARATED FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. A PHONE CALL WAS MADE TO NAPLES CHRYSLER AND WAS IMMEDIATELY TOLD THAT A NEW TOP WAS NECESSARY AND TO COME IN FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. BROUGHT CAR IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC AND AFTER SHOWING THEM OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY PAMPHLET WAS TOLD CONVERTIBLE TOP WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL. PHONE CALL MADE TO EXTENDED WARRANTY PEOPLE AND CHRYSLER REP. WAS LATER TOLD BY WARRANTY PEOPLE THAT CAR WOULD BE FIXED UNDER "GOOD WILL" PROVISION. HOWEVER, CHRYSLER DECIDED TO REGLUE THE GLASS AND NOT PROPERLY FIX THE PROBLEM BY GIVING A NEW TOP AS THEY INITIALLY RECOMMENDED. ALSO BECAUSE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN PA AND LATER SHIPPED TO FLORIDA AND HAS BEEN THERE SINCE 2006 THE RECALL SUPPOSEDLY DIDN'T APPLY TO US. THE PROPER FIX WAS A NEW TOP. THE FIX WITH THE SO CALLED EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS A SHAM. *JS
