I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AND NOT LONG AFTER, THE REAR WINDOW OF THE CONVERTIBLE TOP CAME LOOSE. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT THE ISSUE. I'VE BEEN VERBALLY TOLD THAT THERE WAS A REPLACEMENT NOTE THAT AFFECTED CHRYSLER CROSSFIRES FOR 9 STATES. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE ORIGINALLY SOLD IN ONE OF THESE 9 STATES. I CAN'T REMEMBER THE 9 SPECIFICALLY BUT...MY VEHICLE WAS ORIGINALLY SOLD IN KANSAS (WHICH IS NOT PART OF THE 9 STATES REPLACEMENT CLAUSE), I LIVE IN MO WHICH IS COVERED BY THE REPLACEMENT CLAUSE. THE LADY THAT I SPOKE TO SAID THAT IT WAS A HUMIDITY ISSUE THAT WOULD CAUSE THE WINDOW TO UNGLUE.... SO, I ARGUED THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOW REGISTERED IN A STATE THAT THEY CLAIMED HAS THE LEVEL OF HUMIDITY THAT WOULD CAUSE THE KNOWN ISSUE, BUT, SHE STAYED FIRM ON THE FACT THAT MY VEHICLE WAS ORIGINALLY SOLD IN KANSAS AND THAT STATE IS NOT PART OF THE REPLACEMENT DEAL../ WHAT ARE MY RIGHT AS A CONSUMER? I HAVE WATER GETTING IN MY TRUNK WHICH CAUSED MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL ISSUES. AND NOW, I'M STUCK WITH THE BILL OR KEEPING THE VEHICLE AS IS. THANK YOU CHRYSLER. *TR

REAR WINDOW BECAME COMPLETELY DETACHED (LOOSE) FROM THE MOUNTING SURFACE. HAVING THE CHRYSLER GROUP SERVICE BULLETIN (23035-11 REV A) ON FILE, WHICH SPECIFIES A 10YR/100,000 MI. WARRANTY EXTENSION (2005 MODEL) ALONG WITH AN AMPLE AMOUNT OF EVIDENCE THAT THIS DEFECT HAS OCCURRED IN ALL REGIONS OF THE U.S., TO A VEHICLE THAT WAS IMPORTED FROM ONLY ONE SOURCE IN GERMANY; WHY HAS THE NHTSA FAILED TO REQUIRE THE CHRYSLER GROUP TO COVER ALL OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES REGARDLESS OF WHICH STATE THEY WERE FIRST SOLD IN???

REAR WINDOW FAILURE -- ADHESIVE FAILS & REAR WINDOW FALLS OUT. THE FAILURE OF ANY WINDOW IS NOT NORMAL "WEAR AND TEAR." MANY OF THESE CARS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE OVER THE YEARS. CHRYSLER FINALLY -- AFTER YEARS OF COMPLAINTS -- ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN #23-03511REVA IN 2011 THAT, ACCORDING TO CHRYSLER, COVERS ONLY VEHICLES DELIVERED IN NINE SOUTHEASTERN STATES. IT EXTENDS WARRANTY COVERAGE TO TEN YEARS (WHICH MEANS CHRYSLER WILL REPLACE THE CONVERTIBLE TOPS UNDER WARRANTY). ALL THESE CARS WERE BUILT IN BELGIUM. CHRYSLER HAD TROUBLE SELLING THESE VEHICLES SO IT AUCTIONED SOME VEHICLES INTERNALLY TO ITS DEALER NETWORK, WHO WERE THEN PERMITTED TO GET WHATEVER THEY COULD FOR BRAND NEW "USED" CARS. MINE WENT TO A DODGE DEALER IN FARMVILLE VA AND WAS SOLD TO ME (VIA EBAY) WITH 3 MILES ON THE ODOMETER IN MID-2007 OR SO. 33 MOS. OF "NEW CAR WARRANTY" REMAINED WHEN I REC'D IT HERE IN HAWAII. WHEN THAT WARRANTY EXPIRED I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED "PLATINUM" WARRANTY. THE REAR WINDOW FELL OUT OF THE CONVERTIBLE TOP THREE MONTHS AFTER THE INITIAL 36 MONTH WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED, THE EXTENDED "PLATINUM" WARRANTY WOULDN'T COVER REPAIRS. THE CAR HAD APPROX. 8000 MILES ON IT. AS NOTED BEFORE, CHRYSLER ISSUED THE SERVICE BULLETIN MENTIONED ABOVE IN 2011 BUT ARBITRARILY EXCLUDED SOME VEHICLES DESPITE THE PROBLEM OCCURRING IN CARS ALL OVER THE NATION. I GUESS THAT THEY THOUGHT THAT THE PROBLEM WOULD HAPPEN ONLY IN CERTAIN CLIMES -- BUT THERE ARE MORE THAN NINE U.S. STATES THAT GET HOT WEATHER, E.G., HAWAII EXPERIENCES HOT SUN YEAR-ROUND. AND MINE FELL OUT DESPITE VERY LOW MILEAGE AND THE CAR BEING GARAGED WHEN NOT IN USE. I REQUEST NHTSA DEMAND THAT CHRYSLER EXTEND COVERAGE TO ALL VEHICLES THAT FIT THE CRITERIA, NOT JUST THOSE "DELIVERED" IN NINE OF FIFTY STATES. THE REAR WINDOW CAME UNGLUED FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. IF THE DEFROSTER CABLE HAD NOT HELD THE WINDOW WOULD HAVE FLOWN OUT, AND COULD HAVE SERIOUSLY HARMED OTHER MOTORISTS. CHRYSLER KNOWS OF THIS ISSUE AND HAS ISSUED TSB 23-035-11 WHICH ACKNOWLEDGES THE DEFECT AND WILL REPAIR IT, BUT ONLY FOR CARS SENT TO CERTAIN DEALERSHIPS. THIS SHOULD BE FIXED ON ALL 2005 CROSSFIRES. PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR, FROM A CHRYSLER DEALER. IT CAME WITH A PLASTIC WINDOW, WHICH I FOUND OUT, IS NOT FACTORY/STANDARD. THE DEALER REFUSED TO TAKE CARE OF IT. FOUND OUT ABOUT THE X31 AND SB-23035-11REVA BULLETIN, CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT IT, GOT TURNED DOWN BECAUSE WE ARE THE 4TH OWNERS OF THE CAR, AND IT WAS 3,000 OVER THE 100K MILE LIMIT. I WROTE SERGIO MARCHIONNE, THE CEO OF CHRYSLER, GOT A REVIEW, BUT WAS TURNED DOWN AGAIN. TOLD THAT IT "WOULD NOT MAKE GOOD BUSINESS SENSE" TO FIX MY CAR! WHAT!!? THE BACK GLASS ADHESIVE ON THE CONVERTIBLE SOFT TOP ON MY 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE ROADSTER IS FAILING ON THE DRIVERS SIDE ALMOST 3 INCHES ACROSS TOP AND BOTTOM, CAUSING THE GLASS TO SEPARATE FROM THE FABRIC TOP. THIS ADHESIVE IS THE ONLY SUPPORT FOR THE WINDOW TO THE FABRIC TOP. THE WINDOW/TOP CONNECTION CURRENTLY DOES NOT PROVIDE A WATERPROOF SEAL AND ALLOWS WATER TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. THIS PRESENTS A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN THE ADHESIVE FAILS COMPLETELY AND THE GLASS FALLS OUT ON A ROADWAY OR TURNS INTO A PROJECTILE INSIDE THE CAR WHILE DRIVING. I WAS ABLE TO RE-ATTACH IT MYSELF AFTER I WAS REFUSED SERVICE BY MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER DUE TO "ADHESIVES AND THE SOFT TOP ARE NOT COVERED". HE CITED "ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS CAN NOT BE CONTROLLED" AND ARE EXCLUDED FROM WARRANTY SERVICE. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED IN GEORGIA AT A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND IS KEPT GARAGED. IT IS DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 4500 MILES PER YEAR, AND IS IMMACULATE. THE TOP IS SEPARATING AGAIN AND AFTER CONTACTING CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE, I WAS TOLD THAT MINE IS EXCLUDED FROM A RECENT "PARTIAL" RECALL FOR CARS ONLY MANUFACTURED ON "CERTAIN PRODUCTION LINES" IN MICHIGAN. OR ORIGINALLY DELIVERED TO A FEW "HOT" STATES. MINE WAS APPARENTLY DELIVERED TO MICHIGAN. DOES THIS MEAN I CAN'T DRIVE IT SOUTH PAST COLUMBUS, OHIO? THIS IS A BALD FACED LIE. EVERY ONE OF THESE CARS WERE MANUFACTURED AND ASSEMBLED IN OSNABRUCK, GERMANY, AND SHIPPED HERE. THE WINDOW IS ABOUT TO FALL OUT AND WILL LOOK VERY STYLISH IN THE GRILL OF THE CAR BEHIND ME. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE ROADSTER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE REAR GLASS WINDOW PARTIALLY DETACHED FROM THE SOFT TOP CONVERTIBLE ROOF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE WINDOW GLASS WAS REMOVED IN ORDER TO RESUME OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO ADVISED THE CONVERTIBLE SOFT TOP WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED A VOLUNTARY RECALL PERTAINING TO THE REPLACEMENT OF THE CONVERTIBLE SOFT TOP HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.

I PURCHASED A 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE ON 5/9/11 FROM AN INDIVIDUAL. AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, I DECIDED TO SEARCH THE INTERNET TO SEE IF THERE WAS A FORUM FOR CROSSFIRE OWNERS. I DID FIND A GREAT SITE AND STARTED PERUSING. I CAME ACROSS A THREAD OF OTHER OWNERS OF THE 2005 CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE WHO WERE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE GLASS WINDOW SEPARATING FROM THE CANVAS. THE PROBLEM TYPICALLY OCCURRED IN THE "HIGH HEAT" STATES I.E., FLORIDA AND TEXAS AND TYPICALLY SURFACED AFTER THE 36 K MILEAGE MARK. SINCE I LIVE IN FLORIDA, AND THIS WAS A FLORIDA CAR, I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO MY GARAGE AND TOOK A CLOSE LOOK AT THE BACK WINDOW. UPON CASUAL OBSERVATION, IT WASN'T OBVIOUS, BUT ONCE I RAN MY FINGER ALONG THE EDGE OF THE GLASS AND THE CANVAS, LO AND BEHOLD, IT WAS SEPARATING!!! I WAS SHOCKED THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING!!! LONG STORY SHORT, AFTER TAKING IT TO MY LOCAL DEALER, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOT A REPAIR THAT COULD BE DONE AND THE TOP WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $ 2,200.00. THE TECHNICIAN SAID THAT HE WOULD CONTACT CHRYSLER TO SEE IF THEY WOULD BE WILLING TO OFFER ANY "GOODWILL" TOWARDS THE REPLACEMENT. WELL, NO "GOODWILL" OFFERED BY CHRYSLER :( BOTTOM LINE, I NEED A SAFE VEHICLE SO I AM HAVING THE TOP REPLACED AT MY COST. MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP IS FANTASTIC AND THEY HAVE OFFERED TO DISCOUNT THE REPLACEMENT BY 15% WHICH I THOUGHT SHOWED GOOD FAITH ON THEIR PART. IT SEEMS TO ME, WITH SO MANY OWNERS HAVING THIS PROBLEM, AN INVESTIGATION INTO WHY THIS IS HAPPENING NEEDS TO HAPPEN. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL AS AN INTEGRITY ISSUE OF THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. SOMEONE NEEDS TO STEP UP AND REPRESENT THE OWNERS OF THESE 2005 CHRYSLER CONVERTIBLE AND SAY "YES, THIS IS A DEFECT AND CHRYSLER WILL NEED TO COMPENSATE FAIRLY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THESE TOPS!!" WHEN I INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, I ALSO NOTICED ANOTHER GAP THAT WAS ON THE LEFT DRIVER SIDE OF MY REAR WINDOW. THIS GAP IS ABOUT 2 INCHES WIDE AND I CAN LITERALLY STICK MY HAND ON THE INSIDE OF MY CAR. IT SEEMS THAT THE HEAT HERE IN TEXAS HAS MELTED THE GLUE TO THE POINT THAT THE WINDOW IS BECOMING DETACHED FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP'S CANVAS MATERIAL. SO, I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE ON MONDAY MORNING AND THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO VISIT A DEALER TO SEE IF THEY COULD FIX THE WINDOW. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT AFTERNOON AND THEY TOLD ME (VERBATIM) "WE DON'T BOTHER WORKING ON THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE IT IS TOO MUCH OF A HASSLE, WE REFER CROSSFIRES TO AN UPHOLSTERY SHOP!" SO, THE NEXT MORNING WHICH WAS TUESDAY, I CONTACT CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE AGAIN, TOLD THEM WHAT I WAS TOLD AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID "PLEASE GO TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP." SO I WENT AGAIN THAT TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND THIS TIME THEY LOOKED AT MY VEHICLE AND SAID THEY WOULD CONTACT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND GET BACK WITH ME THE NEXT DAY. I RECEIVED A CALL TODAY, WEDNESDAY, SAYING THAT IT IS GOING TO COST $3,000 PLUS TAX TO REPAIR. THEY CAN'T JUST GLUE THE WINDOW BACK IN, THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE TOP. CHRYSLER ALSO DENIED A GOODWILL REPLACEMENT BECAUSE IT WAS DEEMED UNNECESSARY, AND MY WARRANTY JUST EXPIRED LIKE 20 MILES AGO. THE TOP IS ON BACK ORDER, AS I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP, SO IT COULD BE A WHILE BEFORE I WOULD EVEN BE ABLE TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. I AM DRIVING AROUND WITH A HALF GLUED REAR WINDOW, THAT CAN FALL OUT AND BUST INSIDE MY CAR AT ANY POINT. IT IS NOT ONLY A HAZARD TO ME, BUT ALSO TO ANY PASSENGERS, PEDESTRIANS OR MOTORIST AROUND ME. MY HUSBAND THE CALLED CHRYSLER 6/17/08 AND SPOKE WITH MILLIE WHO WAS VERY RUDE AND TOLD MY HUSBAND UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE WOULD CHRYSLER PAY FOR THAT AS IT COST TOO MUCH. WHEN HE TOLD HER JUST THE DAY BEFORE HE SPOKE WITH MARK AND HE SAID HE WOULD DO THE GOOD WILL REPLACEMENT SHE SAID NO WAY. I THEN MET WITH MY GEICO ADJUSTER AND HE ALSO SAID THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT AS IT IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. HE TOOK PICTURES AND GAVE ME HIS REPORT, WHICH STATES IT IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT, HE ADVISED ME TO SUE CHRYSLER. I CALLED CHRYSLER MYSELF ON 6/18/08 SPOKE WITH RICHARD WHO WAS VERY RUDE, ABRUPT, AND INDIFFERENT AND TOLD ME TO DO WHAT I HAD TO DO BUT HE WAS NOT GOING TO HELP ME. TO SUM THIS LETTER UP I HAVE CONTACTED THE FLORIDA ATTORNEY GENERAL?S OFFICE AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THEY HAVE BEEN VERY HELPFUL, PUTTING ME IN THE IN TOUCH WITH WHO I NEED TO HELP ME. *TR
