WHILE DRIVING MY CAR WITH THE TOP UP MY REAR WINDOW BECAME DETACHED. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT EVEN THOUGH THE 2005 CROSSFIRE ROADSTER WAS COVERED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM THEY WERE NOT COVERING THE 2006. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER DIRECTLY IN JULY OF 2014 THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING. I THEN HAD TO MAKE A TEMPORARY REPAIR FOR $ 150 AND IN SEPTEMBER 2014 HAD TO REPLACE THE TOP FOR $ 2,457.62 AT A SHOP RECOMMENDED BY THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. SO I AM OUT OF POCKET $ 2,607. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AGAIN LAST WEEK 5 23 2015 AND THEY REPLIED THAT SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS NOT BUILT IN 2005 THEY WERE STILL NOT COVERING IT. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM EXPERIENCED BY NUMEROUS DRIVERS. IF THIS WINDOW WERE TO COME OUT WHILE DRIVING IT COULD SERIOUSLY INJURE OR KILL A PEDESTRIAN OR OTHER DRIVER. CHRYSLER HAS COVERED THE 2005 FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT NOT LATER MODELS. YOU WILL SEE OVER 20 COMPLAINTS ON THE SAFECAR.GOV SITE FROM OTHER DRIVERS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT SAME MODEL AND YEAR. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE WEB ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. I GUESS CHRYSLER AND THE GOVERNMENT WANTS TO WAIT UNTIL PEOPLE ARE KILLED BEFORE ACTING.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE ROADSTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR WINDSHIELD HUNG DOWN INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ADHESIVE WAS FAULTY AND THE ROOF NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE GLASS REAR WINDOW TO THE CONVERTIBLE BECAME DISENGAGED ON THREE SIDES AND STARTED FLAPPING INSIDE THE CAR. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO TOLD ME THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME AND IT CANNOT BE FIXED. A NEW TOP WITH A FACTORY INSTALLED GLASS MUST BE PURCHASED AND INSTALLED. CHRYSLER AND THE DEALER REFUSE TO EXCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY, AND WANT $2800 FOR REPAIR. IT APPEARS THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED ROUTINELY WITH THIS VEHICLE AND NO RECALL HAS BEEN ORDERED. IF I DRIVE THE CAR THE WINDOW WILL EVENTUALLY DISENGAGE COMPLETELY AND POSSIBLY BECOME A MISSILE ON THE HIGHWAY. IT APPEARS THE GLUE THAT HOLDS THE GLASS TO THE CANVAS TOP IS DEFECTIVE AND WILL NOT HOLD. I WOULD WELCOME CONTACT FROM CHRYSLER WITH SOME ASSISTANCE IN THE REPAIR/REPLACEMENT COST. *TR

THE REAR GLASS WINDOW ON MY CONVERTIBLE TOP BECAME DETACHED FROM THE SURROUNDING MATERIAL. APPARENTLY THE GLUE HOLDING THE WINDOW ON FAILED. I PULLED OVER AND SECURED IT BEFORE IT FLEW OFF AND POTENTIALLY HIT ANOTHER CAR OR PEDESTRIAN. THIS IS A PREVIOUSLY KNOW PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL FOR THE 2004 AND 2005 MODEL YEARS. CHRYSLER HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR CARS WITH THIS PROBLEM IN CERTAIN SOUTHERN STATES OF WHICH I LIVE IN ONE TEXAS. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER TODAY AND THEY INDICATED MY AREA WAS COVERED BUT NOT MY MODEL YEAR. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS OCCURRING IN OTHER 2006 MODELS. BACK WINDOW IN MY 2005 CROSSFIRE CAME OUT. *TR

AT 28,000 MILES I NOTICED THE BACK WINDOW IS COMING LOOSE. THREE SIDES COMPLETELY SEPARATED. WENT TO AN UPHOLSTERER WHO ADVISED THE ENTIRE TOP NEEDS REPLACING. MANUFACTURER DEFECT CAUSES THE FABRIC TO SHRINK IN WARM TEMPERATURES PUSHING OUT BACK WINDOW. IT HAS BEEN RE-GLUED. THEY DID A FINE JOB AND ADVISED IT WOULD NOT HOLD AND THEY WERE RIGHT, IT IS NOW FLOPPING AROUND WITH ONLY ONE SIDE HOLDING IT IN PLACE. THIS IS DANGEROUS. THE 2005 WAS RECALLED FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. SAME PROBLEM, SAME CAR, SAME MANUFACTURING DEFECT. IT IS MORE THAN TIME.

ADHESIVE HOLDING REAR WINDOW IN PLACE BEGAN TO SEPARATE FROM CONVERTIBLE TOP. OTHER CROSSFIRE OWNERS HAVE REPORTED TOTAL FAILURE. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE IF/WHEN THE REAR WINDOW COMPLETELY SEPARATES AND DETACHES FROM THE VEHICLE AND POSES A HAZARD TO OTHERS I.E., PEDESTRIAN, MOTORCYCLE RIDERS, ETC. ALL THE TOPS WERE PRODUCED BY THE SAME MANUFACTURER (KARMANN) ALTHOUGH CHRYSLER IS ONLY WILLING TO REPLACE CERTAIN 2005 MODELS BASED ON THE STATE THEY WERE ORIGINALLY SOLD. THIS MAKES NO SENSE, CHRYSLER AND THE NHTSA SHOULD RECALL ALL TOPS PRODUCED AND REPLACE THEM WITH A TOP WITH THE REAR WINDOW ATTACHED WITH SOME TYPE OF IMPROVED ADHESIVE SO THE RISK TO OTHERS IS ELIMINATED. *TR

I RECEIVED A LACERATION ON MY LEFT HAND INDEX FINGER WHILE GRASPING THE DRIVER SIDE CHROME COVERED DOOR HANDLE. IT APPEARS AS THOUGH THE METALLIC CHROME COVERING HAS A SEAM ON THE INSIDE OF THE HANDLE WHICH BECOMES RAZOR SHARP. I HAVE USED A LAYER OF CLEAR PACKING TAPE OVER THE SEAM TO KEEP FROM REPEATING THIS INCIDENT AND WILL DO THE PASSENGER SIDE AS A PREEMPTIVE MEASURE. *TR
