1ST GEAR WILL POP OUT OF GEAR DURING ACCELERATION. INCREASES RISK FACTOR OF ACCIDENT IF VEHICLE POPS OUT OF GEAR WHILE MAKING A TURN WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED BUT NO RECAL EVER ISSUED

CAR POPS OUT OF FIRST GEAR ON TAKE OFF ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED ONCE AND HIT BROAD SIDE BY A TRUCK WHEN TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFIC. CHRYSLER HAD ISSUED A TECHNICAL BULLETIN FOR THIS PROBLEM . I FULLY BELIVE THIS WAS AND IS A SAFTY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE LISTED AS SUCH.

AT 50 MPH ON A MARYLAND STATE HIGHWAY, THE ENGINE UNEXPECTEDLY SHUT OFF RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE COASTING TO A STOP IN THE TRAFFIC LANE (THERE WAS NO SHOULDER). FORTUNATELY, I WAS NOT STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE, BUT IT WAS DARK AND VEHICLES COMING OVER A SMALL HILL AND SLIGHT CURVE HAD TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION TO AVOID A COLLISION. THE ENGINE WOULD CRANK AND START BRIEFLY AND THEN SPUTTER TO A STOP. OR, IT WOULD JUST CRANK AND NOT FIRE OR NOT CRANK AT ALL. I WAS EVENTUALLY, WITH ASSISTANCE, ABLE TO PUSH THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROADWAY INTO A RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MY RESIDENCE FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS. THE VEHICLE WOULD LATER START AND RUN NORMALLY FOR A SHORT PERIOD, BUT THEN WAS PLAGUED BY A LARGE LIST OF ISSUES TO INCLUDE: MALFUNCITONING INDICATOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED - BRAKE LIGHT, BRAKE WEAR INDICATOR, TRACTION CONTROL, STABILITY CONTROL; P0600 DATA LINK LOSS CODE; VEHICLE NOT SHIFTING OUT OF PARK; SPEEDOMETER NOT WORKING, ETC. EVENTUALLY, THE ENGINE WOULD NO LONGER CRANK AT ALL. ALL ISSUES WERE REMEDIED BY REPLACING THE RELAY CONTROL MODULE (RCM) - A PART THAT WAS, AND STILL IS, MANUFACTURED BY STRIBEL. THIS PART HAS KNOW ISSUES RELATED TO POORLY SOLDERED CONNECTIONS THAT CAUSE NO-START CONDITIONS OR CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STALL WHILE OPERATING. THE RCM IS ALSO PLAGUED BY FAILURE OF THE INTERNAL RELAYS (ENGINE CONTROL, FUEL PUMP, TRACTION CONTROL, SECONDARY AIR PUMP) THEMSELVES WHICH MAY BE HASTENED BY OVERHEATING AS A RESULT OF THE POOR SOLDER JOINTS. IF IT HAS NOT ALREADY HAPPENED, SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED WHEN THEIR CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE (OR ANY ONE OF A NUMBER OF MERCEDES BENZ VEHICLES UTILIZING THE SAME STRIBEL RELAY) STALLS DUE TO THIS WIDELY KNOW DEFECT AND IS STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000.

AS I'VE READ ON HERE, THIS CAR HAS A TENDENCY TO DROP OUT OF 1ST GEAR ON TAKE OFF. THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY ENOUGH THAT I'VE STUDIED WHETHER MY HAND ON THE SHIFT OR NOT MAKES A DIFFERENCE. IT DOESN'T. JUST WHY CHRYSLER THINKS THIS ISN'T A DEFECT IS BEYOND COMPREHENSION. ITS A 6 SPEED AND I QUIT USING 1ST GEAR, TOO UNPREDICTABLE, OR RATHER TOO PREDICTABLE AS I KNOW ITS GOING TO DROP OUT. *JS

THE ENGINE CUTS OUT WITHOUT ANY PRE-INDICATIONS. AFTERWARD THE STARTER WILL NOT RESPOND ALTHOUGH THE LIGHTS WORK OK. THE TRANSMISSION LOCKS WHEN PUT IN PARK. HOURS LATER THE RESPONSE STAYS THE SAME. THE FIRST TIME IT STARTED WORKING A DAY LATER, THE SECOND TIME IT HASN'T STARTED YET. THE DEALER SEEMS TO HAVE NO IDEA ON WHAT TO DO. IT LEFT ME STRANDED LATE AT NIGHT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A CHRONIC CROSSFIRE PROBLEM. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS 2004 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH INTO HIS DRIVEWAY, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DETECTED THAT THE CLUTCH SPRING BRACKET DISENGAGED FROM THE VEHICLE AND FELL ON THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN CONFIRMED THAT THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE CLUTCH SPRING BRACKET. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE. WHILE TRAVELING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE'S GEARS ARE SLIPPING INTO FIRST AND SECOND GEAR, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT MUST RESTART THE VEHICLE IN ORDER FOR THE GEARS TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE CHRYSLER DEALER REFERENCED SERVICE BULLETIN # 2100505. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 10,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000.

AUTO/TRANSMISSION/ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. I'M JUST SO GLAD THAT THIS IS A DRIVE BY WIRE CAR, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE CARS ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CAN'T REGULATE ITS VOLTAGE PROPERLY. YOU WOULD THINK THAT DAIMLER WOULD HAVE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BUILT AS TOUGH AS NAILS. SEEING THAT THE CARS LIFE SUPPORT IS ALL DEPENDENT UPON PULSE POWER. SO MY COMPLAINT IS DO TO THE CARS FAILURE TO REGULATE ITS POWER, IT COOKED MY TRANSMISSIONS DRIVE PLATE LOCATED INTERNALLY ON TOP OF THE VALVE BODY. THEN SURGED BACK TO THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE & FRIED THAT. AND SOME HOW, AND I CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY THIS OCCURRED BUT, THE INTERNAL GEARS INSIDE MY THROTTLE BODY GOT FUSED TOGETHER. THIS IS STRANGE TO ME SEEING THAT THE GEARS ARE MADE OUT OF A COMPOSITE. SO WITH ALL THAT HAS OCCURRED IT HAS LEFT THE CAR LIFELESS FOR OVER 90 DAYS NOW. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER CORP. OFFICES THROUGH THERE WEBSITE, PLEADING WITH THEM TO EXCHANGE THE BROKEN PIECES. THEY ONLY RESPONDED WITH "CONTACT YOU DEALER" SO I HAVE SENT MULTIPLE "PARTS AND SERVICE REQUESTS" TO THE TWO DEALERSHIPS THAT I CAN GO TO. ONE IS A " " FIVE STAR DEALERSHIP, AND THE OTHER IS NOT. I NEVER ONCE GOT A RESPONSE FROM EITHER ONE. DAIMLER SAID TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, SO I REPLIED "THE CAR DOES NOT DRIVE", SO AGAIN I REQUESTED A PARTS EXCHANGE, AND AGAIN THE SAME STOCK RESPONSE "CONTACT YOUR DEALER"...BLA BLA. I AM MORE THAN QUALIFIED TO INSTALL ALL PARTS THAT ARE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I GUESS THE RUMORS ARE ALL TRY, ABOUT CHRYSLER TURNING THEIR BACKS ON CUSTOMERS ONCE THE CAR HAS BEEN SOLD. ALL I KNOW IS I AM NOT PAYING FOR THIS, OR HEADS WILL ROLL. *JB

ITS TWO THINGS. I THINK BECAUSE OF ONE FAILURE, IT HAS CAUSED ANOTHER. THE ELECTRONIC SYSTEM AND OVER VOLTAGE, THE FAILURE OF THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR IN THE ALTERNATOR, I BELIEVE HAS CAUSED THE PROBLEMS WITH THE DRIVETRAIN (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, AND THE HYDROLIC BRAKING SYSTEM) I HAVE NOTICED SIGNIFICANT PRESSURE LOSS WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. IN ADDITION TO THAT, WHEN COMING TO A STOP THE CAR JERKS BACK AND FORTH IN WHILE IN 1ST OR 2ND GEAR , AS IF THE CLUTCH WASN'T ENGAGING. HOWEVER I COULD GET THAT TO JERKING TO STOP IF I APPLIED THE BRAKES REALLY HARD. 3-D WOULDN'T JERK, HOWEVER IT WOULD SLAM DOWN INTO THE LOWER GEARS WHEN COMING TO THE STOP. THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM STARTED HAPPENING BACK IN OCTOBER. THE TRANS, AND HYDROLIC ISSUES JUST STARTED HAPPENING MAY 23, 2005.
THE 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION POPS OUT OF FIRST GEAR ON AN INTERMITENT BASIS WHEN STARTING OFF. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE WE PURCHASED THE CAR NEW.

CAR POPS OUT OF FIST GEAR ABOUT EVERY 100-200 MILES. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES. EACH TIME THEY PERFORM WHAT "STAR" RECOMMENDS. THIS NEVER HELPS THE PROBLEM. THE CAR STILL POPS OUT OF GEAR. NOW I'M TOLD BECAUSE THERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, NOTHING ELSE WILL BE DONE. I EXPLAINED TO THE DEALER IT DOES IT BETWEEN 100-200 MILES. THE TECH'S ONLY DRIVE THE CAR 3-6 MILES. *AK

CHRYSLER CROSS FIRE 2004. THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION VIOLENTLY SLIPS OUT OF FIRST GEAR INTO NEUTRAL AFTER THE CAR IS MOVING THE VECHILE AND THE CLUTCH IS DISENGAGED. ALBEIT INFREQUENTLY. THIS CAUSES A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, CROSSING TRAFFIC THAT ISN'T CONTROLLED VIA A SIGN OR LIGHT. OR, AT ANY STOP WITH SOMEONE BEHIND YOU. IN THE 1,500 MILES I'VE DRIVEN THE CAR SINCE I PURCHASED IT, I HAVE NARROWLY AVOIDED BEING REAR-ENDED THREE TIMES DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE PERSONNEL HAVE OBSERVED AND VERIFIED THE TENDANCY OF IT TO SLIP FROM GEAR, (HOWEVER CHRYSLER STARS REPONDED THAT THE PROBLEM WASN'T FREQUENT ENOUGH TO REPAIR). LEAVING EACH START INTO TRAFFIC IS THE CHANCE OF A COLLISION.*AK
