June 6th 2024, I got into my 2095 Chrysler crossfire and started driving hearing a rattling sound I pulled over and looked in back of my car to see the back window separated away from the soft top and was openly hanging, I had to get home from where I was at so I took back roads all way home and pulled over everytime a car got behind me. Also in past month my car sometimes starts right up and other time it won’t come on. Hubby says it’s an electrical issue. My car died on me as I pulled onto a hiway luckily I was able to pull off to the side of the road. I’ve seen several electrical issues reported on a car forum for these cars, also window separation. I have pics if needed.
MY2005 CROSSFIRE ROADSTER CONVERTIBLE JUST STOPPED RUNNING TWICE WHILE DRIVING ON A VERY BUSY ROAD! THE FIRST TIME I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT WHEN THE CAR DIED. I HAD NO POWER AND THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. AS THE LIGHT HAD NOW TURNED GREEN EVERY CAR IN EVERY LANE STARTED TO MOVE FORWARD. OF COURSE THE PERSON BEHIND ME STARTED BEEPING AND SCREAMING! I GOT OUT OF THE CAR (VERY DANGEROUS) AND STARTED TO PUSH THE CAR OVER SEVERAL LANES TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. TWO MEN JUMPED OUT AND HELPED ME PUSH IT TO A SIDE ROAD OFF THE MAIN ROAD. CARS WERE NOW FLYING PAST US GOING AT LEAST 45 TO 50 MPH. MY CAR WAS TOWED TO MY HOME CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND AFTER 3 DAYS THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE ENGINE RELAY CONTROL MODULE WHICH HAD AN INTERNAL FAILURE. THE CAR RAN FINE FOR 9 MONTHS WHEN THE SAME THING HAPPENED BUT THIS SECOND TIME I WAS GOING 45 MPH WHEN THE CAR JUST DIED. I NEARLY GOT HAMMERED TRYING TO ALLOW MY SLOWING VEHICLE'S MOMENTUM TO TAKE ME ACROSS SEVERAL LANES OF TRAFFIC TRYING TO GET TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD BEFORE STOPPING. IT WAS FRIGHTENING AND VERY DANGEROUS!!! MY CAR WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP BUT AFTER TWO DAYS I WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE THE EQUIPMENT TO ANALYZE OR FIX THE PROBLEM. FORTUNATELY MY INSURANCE COMPANY WAS KIND ENOUGH TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED A SECOND TIME TO THE DEALERSHIP I USED ON THE FIRST INCIDENT. THEY HAVE NOW HAD MY CAR FOR OVER A WEEK WITH VERY LITTLE COMMUNICATION. THEY CLAIM THEY CAN'T GET THE CAR STARTED (DUH) AND THEY CAN'T EVEN GET THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL TO PUSH IT INTO A BAY TO WORK ON IT. (HUNH?). THEY CLAIM THEY NEED A COMPUTER PART FROM MERCEDES TO ANALYZE THE PROBLEM. (WHAT?) NOW THEY TELL ME THEY GOT THE CAR INTO THE BAY AND ARE CHARGING THE BATTERY. (REALLY THAT IS ALL THEY'VE DONE IN 7 DAYS?) I AM MORE THAN FRUSTRATED WITH THEM...I WAS TOLD BY THE NON-SERVICE ADVISOR THAT THEY HAVE MANY CARS IN THEIR SHOP FOR MONTHS!

CAR WAS STATIONARY AND KEY WAS INSERTED INTO IGNITION BUT COULD NOT TURN THE IGNITION IN ATTEMPTING TO START THE CAR. IT DOES NOT MOVE (KEY) TO INITIATE THE FUNCTION TO START THE CAR. ALSO, NO MOTION OF THE KEY MOVEMENT WAS AVAILABLE PROVIDE ANY STEPS OF THE IGNITION. THE MOVEMENT OF THE IGNITION TUMBLERS BECOME FROZE IN A JAMMED POSITION DISABLING THE KEY FROM TURNING. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THIS IS NOT A NEW COMMENT ABOUT THIS YEAR 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE IGNITION (NO TURN) IN STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE SKREEM MODULE HAS FAILED WHICH CONTROLS THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM, KEY & IGNITION. THE PART IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE THROUGH CHRYSLER OR AFTERMARKET. THE CAR CANNOT RUN WITHOUT THIS MODULE. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME OF FAILURE. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. LUCKILY IT WAS CLOSE TO HOME WHEN IT FAILED. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO MAKE THIS PART AVAILABLE SINCE IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT AFFECTS HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES THAT CANNOT BE DRIVEN ONCE IT FAILS. *TR

BY BACK WINDOW GOT UNGLUED & UNABLE TO LOWER MY TOP. ALSO THE ELECTRICAL JUST STOPPED I'M NOT ABLE TO MOVE MY SEATS, OR USE CD PLAYER OR LIGHTER TO PLUG MY PHONE. JUST ONE DAY IT STOPPED WORKING & THEN WITH MY WINDOW UNGLUED I'M NOT ABLE TO TAKE TOP DOWN FOR PAST 2 YEARS. SO I DON'T KNOW WHY THE BACK WINDOW GOT UNGLUED.
THE CAR WOULD NOT START (BATTERY DEAD). REPLACED THE BATTERY AND THE NEXT DAY THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN. TOOK IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP THINKING IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR AND THE TECH DID A CHECK AND CAME BACK WITH A BAD POWER MODULE. CAR CAN'T BE DRIVEN AS THE BATTERY DRAINS IN JUST A FEW HOURS. THE TECH STATED THAT HE DID A CHECK ON THE VIN NUMBER AND IT CAME BACK WITH A RECALL FOR THE POWER MODULE, WHICH I CAN'T VERIFY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SOUTH CHICAGO DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP (7340 S WESTERN AVE, CHICAGO, IL 60636) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION AND CYLINDER MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 62,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

CAR RUNS FINE ONE DAY THEN WILL NOT START AT RANDOM TIMES, TURN THE IGNITION GET NO SOUND FROM ENGINE. DASH LIGHTS COME ON, FAN AND RADIO COMES ON BUT CAR WILL NOT START. WAIT A FEW HOURS OR A FEW DAYS, IT CRANKS RIGHT UP AS INTENDED. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAS BEEN CHECKED AND ALWAYS SHOW GOOD RESULTS.

CAR WOULDN'T START SEVERAL TIMES SINCE PURCHASE. THE BATTERY WAS FULLY CHARGED, TOOK IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALER WHO "CLEANED UP SOME GROUNDS". THE LIGHTS, STEREO, ETC WORKED BUT THE MOTOR DIDN'T EVEN MAKE A SOUND WHEN TRYING TO START. ONE TIME WHEN IT DID START I WAS MAKING A TURN WHEN THE CAR COMPLETELY DIED...I DIDN'T REALIZE IT AT FIRST BECAUSE THE HEATER, RADIO, PANEL WERE ALL LIT UP AND WORKING. I WAS VERY LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO MAKE IT SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED BACK TO THE GARAGE. WHEN THEY STARTED WORKING ON IT, THE PANEL BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX STARTED SMOKING. I PURCHASED THIS CAR USED WITH 28,400 MILES ON IT FROM A DEALER AND HAD NO PROBLEMS AT ALL FOR MY FIRST 1000 MILES. I LOVED THE CAR! HOWEVER, THEN BEGAN THE LOCKED UP IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM. AT FIRST, IT WAS MINOR, I ONLY HAD TO TRY TURNING THE KEY A DOZEN TIMES BEFORE IT WOULD START, BUT THAT GOT A LITTLE WORSE EVERY DAY. THEN TODAY, 6 MONTHS LATER, IT TOOK ABOUT 500 ATTEMPTS AND 20 MINUTES BEFORE IT STARTED. NOW I NEED A MECHANIC AND EXCEPT TO SPEND UPWARDS OF A $1000. I'VE PROBABLY HAD 25 DIFFERENT CARS IN MY LIFETIME AND NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING CLOSE TO THIS. DOESN'T CHRYSLER RECOGNIZE THIS IS THEIR MANUFACTURING DEFECT? HAVEN'T THEY READ THE CROSSFIRE FORUM? I PARKED MY CAR AT A SHOP'S PARKING LOT AND DIDN'T HAVE ANY ISSUES. ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER I CAME BACK TO MY CAR AND TRIED TO GET THE ENGINE TO TURN OVER AND THE IGNITION WOULD NOT TURN. I TRIED WITH BOTH OF MY KEYS AND I COULDN'T GET THE IGNITION TO TURN. THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO WAS LOCKED UP. I HAD TO TAKE APART MY DASH BOARD TO GET TO THE IGNITION SO I COULD RELEASE THE LOCKING PIN. ONCE THE PIN WAS RELEASED I HAD NO PROBLEMS STARTING THE CAR. *TR

THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECTIVE COMPONENT THAT SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH A RELIABLE ONE. I WAS STUCK IN A PARKING LOT AT 112F (SOUTHWEST US LOCATION) FOR 1/2 HOUR TRYING TO GET THE IGNITION MECHANISM TO TURN. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE DUE TO A STEERING WHEEL LOCKING PIN THAT BECOMES JAMMED. IF THIS HAPPENS WHILE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN, THEN IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE RPM'S REVVED AND THEN DECREASED, FOLLOWED BY THE ENGINE STALLING. THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL PRIOR TO THE STALLING. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER EIGHT TIMES FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE WIRING WAS ADJUSTED WITHIN THE COMPUTERIZED SYSTEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES, BUT THERE WERE NO RESOLUTIONS. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY INOPERABLE AND HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,556 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,650.

THERE IS A DANGEROUS ELECTRICAL SHORT LOCATED WITHIN THE DASH BOARD AREA OF MY CROSSFIRE. THE ELECTRICAL SHORT COULD LEAD TO A HOT SPOT IN THE WIRING HARNESS, WHICH COULD LEAD TO A FIRE IN THE PASSENGER SIDE DASHBOARD AREA. IF THIS FIRE SHOULD HAPPEN WHILE THE AUTOMOBILE IS BEING STORED INSIDE MY HOME GARAGE, THE RESULTS WOULD BE CATASTROPHIC. WE JUST BOUGHT A 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE ROADSTER SRT6. LAST NIGHT (13 MAR 2006) WE WERE DRIVING THROUGH TOWN. WHEN MY WIFE STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN THE CAR STALLED. TURNING THE KEY OFF AND STARTING AGAIN THE CAR STARTED AND RAN. THE CAR HAS ONLY 600 MILES. I READ WHERE OTHER CHRYSLERS HAVE SUDDEN STALLING PROBLEMS AND HAVE HAD RECALLS. NOT SURE IF THERE WERE VERY FEW CROSSFIRES AND IF THEY OUGHT TO BE INCLUDED IN A RECALL. *JB

THE CONVERTIBLE TOP WOULD NOT OPEN, THE REAR SPOILER WOULD NOT OPERATE AND THE KEYLESS ENTRY WOULD NOT OPEN TO LET ME IN THE CAR. AFTER ATTEMPTING TO REPLACE 3 DIFFERENT PARTS OVER 4 VISITS THEY DETERMINED THERE WAS A PINCHED WIRE AND REPLACED IT, FIXING ALL THE PROBLEMS AT ONCE. *NM
