The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the rear windshield detached from the windshield molding and fell inside the cabin of the vehicle. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the extended warranty had expired. The contact related the failure to TSB 23-035-11REVA. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.

THE BACK WINDOW HAS BECOME DETACHED AND IS HANGING ON BY A THREAD. IT BECOMES MORE DETACHED WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE SILVER SEEN IN THE PHOTO IS DUCK TAPE WE APPLIED TO HELP KEEP IT IN PLACE WHICH IS NOT WORKING. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN STORED IN A GARAGE SINCE PURCHASE IN NEW SMYRNA BEACH FL. CONDITION CONTINUES AND IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR BOTH PASSENGERS AND DRIVERS BEHIND CAR. IF GLASS BREAKS LOOSE IT COULD CAUSE SERIOUS BODILY HARM. CHRYSLER IS VERY WELL AWARE OF THE SITUATION AND HAS PAID TO REPAIR THE VEHICLES ON A SPORADIC BASIS. THEIR LAST COMMENTS TO ME WAS DUE TO MY VEHICLE BEING FIRST DELIVERED IN CALIFORNIA, IT WAS EXEMPT FROM THE RECALL FOR EIGHT SOUTHERN STATES. THIS IS QUITE PERPLEXING AS THE VEHICLES ARE IDENTICAL, WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. ONLY IN DIFFERENT STATES. I HAVE JUST LEARNED THAT THEY REPLACED THE TOP ON A VEHICLE IN CHICAGO. CLEARLY NOT ONE OF THE STATES NAMED IN THE SOUTH. I WOULD LIKE THEM TO HONOR WHAT THEY ARE DOING ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. I HAVE A 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE THAT I HAVE OWNED FOR FIVE MONTHS. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO THE REAR WINDOW FELL OUT OF MY CONVERTIBLE. FROM WHAT I HAVE FOUND OUT THIS SEEMS TO BE A CONTINUING PROBLEM WITH THIS YEARS MODEL. HAVE NOT SEEN ANY INFO ABOUT ANY OTHER CROSSFIRE MODELS AFTER 2005 WITH THIS PROBLEM. MAYBE THEY REALIZED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND FIXED IT FROM 2006 ON UP CALLED TO SEE IF MY EXTENDED SERVICE CONTRACT COVERS THIS, WAS TOLD NO IT WAS A TRIM ISSUE MY INSURANCE WILL HELP COVER THE COST TO REPLACE BUT THAT DOESN'T SEEM FAIR TO THEM, THE CARS NOT WRECKED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE SRT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR HATCHBACK WINDOW FRACTURED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE WINDOW WAS REPAIRED YET THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE WINDOW A SECOND TIME YET THE WINDOW FRACTURED AGAIN WITHIN ONE MONTH. THE DEALER THEN ADVISED HIM TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AGAIN AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD INSTALL A NEW CONVERTIBLE TO REMEDY THE FAILURE, AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 16,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,000.

IN 2009, I PURCHASED A 2005 CROSSFIRE, IT WAS IN PERFECT CONDITION WITH ONLY 32000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE KEPT IT IN MY GARAGE. THIS LAST APRIL, I NOTICED THE REAR GLASS WINDOW BEGAN TO SEPARATE FROM THE CANVAS TOP. I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND OUT IT IS ONLY SUPPORTED BY ADHESIVE GLUE. IT IS A GLASS WINDOW, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING, IT NEEDS BETTER SUPPORT. I PURCHASED MY CONVERTIBLE CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE ABOUT 2 1/2 YEARS AGO. ABOUT FIVE OR SIX WEEKS AGO I NOTICED THAT THE REAR WINDOW HAD COME UNGLUED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A GLASS SHOP AND I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THE REPAIRMAN COULD DO BECAUSE THE WINDOW IS ATTACHED TO THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. HE SUGGESTED THAT I TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN UPHOLSTERY SHOP. I ACTUALL Y TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THREE DIFFERENT UPHOLSTRY SHOPS AND ALL THREE TOLD ME THAT THE TOP WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I TRIED FILING AN INSURANCE CLAIM. THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO. I CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER HEADQUARTERS CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE WHERE I WAS GREETED BY A RUDE INDIVIDUAL TELLING ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT CHRYSLER COULD DO. I AM NOW AT A POINT OF FRUSTRATION AND DISAPPOINTMENT. I STILL HAVE 1 1/2 LEFT TO MAKE PAYMENTS ON THIS VEHICLE THAT I WON'T BE ABLE TO DRIVE. *TR

IF WINDOW CAME OUT DURING A CRASH, THE GLASS WINDOW COULD SERIOUSLY INJURE THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER. A FLYING SHEET OF GLASS. CHRYSLER SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE TO FIX THIS DEFECT.
