DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE STARTED AFTER SITTING FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE TO TWO MINUTES. THE DEALERSHIP INSPECTED THE VEHICLE MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT THEY COULD DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS CLEANED , AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS REDONE, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. *AK

DT: WHEN THE CONSUMER'S WIFE STARTED THE VEHICLE IT WENT FORWARD WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. THIS CAUSED VEHICLE TO RUN OVER A SHORT WALL. THIS RESULTED IN INJURIES TO THE DRIVER AND THE PASSENGERS. UPON IMPACT, AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE TRANSMISSION. RECALL WORK DONE ON THIS ISSUE. THE CONSUMER FELT THAT THE RECALL WORK WAS THE REASON FOR THE ACCIDENT. WHEN THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, THEY STATED THAT IT WAS NOT THEIR FAULT. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED ON 7-17-05.*AK JUST THE WEEK BEFORE THIS ACCIDENT A NEW BATTERY AND TRANSMISSION WERE INSTALLED AT THE SERVICE DEALER. THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THE COMPUTER MALFUNCTIONED. *NM

THE FUEL LINES LEAKED. THE POWER DOOR LOCKS FAILED. THE RADIO/CASSETTE PLAYER FAILED. THE POWER MIRRORS FAILED. THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM FAILED. THE POWER WINDOWS AND SEATS FAILED. THE ALARM WAS INOPERATIVE. TRUNK RELEASE WAS INOPERATIVE. *NM

OUR 1999 CHRYSLER LHS SUFFERED WHAT OUR MECHANIC SAID WAS A "CATASTROPHIC" TRANSIMISSION FAILURE. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED SHIFTING PROPERLY AND REMAINED IN LOW GEAR. THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE COMPLETELY RE-BUILT AND THE SYSTEM FLUSHED DUE TO THE LARGE VOLUME OF METAL SHAVINGS. BECAUSE THIS HAPPEN OUTSIDE THE 3/36,000 WARRANTY PERIOD, CHRYSLER WOULD NOT COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIRS.*AK

AFTER BACKING UP, WHEN SHIFTING TO DRIVE IT TAKES 30-40 SECONDS BEFORE VEHICLE RESPONDS. DEALER CANNOT FIND A PROBLEM.
ON 4-18-02 MY WIFE WAS BACKING OUR 1999 LHS CHRYSLER OUT OF OUR DRIVE ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY, THE SHIFTER CABLE ON THE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED, LEAVING THE VEHICLE STRANDED INN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. MY MECHANIC CALLED OUR LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP TO ORDER THE PART AND THE SERVICE DEPT. TOLD US THAT THERE WAS OVER 600 ON BACKORDER FOR THE N.C. AND VA. SERVICE AREA. WELL, HOW MANY WERE IN CIRCULATION BEFORE THE SUPPLY RAN OUT??? I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE ABOUT ANY RECALLS ON THE MANNNER AND THERE WERE NONE AND THE PERSON AT CHRYSLER SAID THAT IT WOULD NOT BE RECALLED. I THINK THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. THE VEHICLE CAN BE STRANDED, UNABLE TO MOVE, IN SOME VERY DANGEROUS SITUATUIONS AND COULD HARM THE OCCUPANTS.*AK
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATES, BRAKES WOULD NOT HOLD, DEALER CONTACTED. *AK CONSUMER STATES WHEN SHIFTED FROM PARK TO DRIVE WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE VEHICLE SHOT FORWARD WITH A ROAR AT 30-40 MPH, FOOT WAS STILL ON THE BRAKE BUT VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AT HIGH SPEED AND CRASHED.*YD
ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL MODULE FAILED. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER HAS TRYED TO GET PART IN, BUT NOTHING SO FAR.*AK
WHILE BACKING OUT OF GARAGE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED IN REVERSE AT EXTREMELY HIGH SPEED, CAUSE UNKNOWN. *AK THE ACCELERATION INCIDENT OCCURED THREE TIMES, TWO OF THEM RESULTING IN ACCIDENT AND DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER REPLACED TRANSMISSION AFTER THE FIRST AND LAST INCIDENTS. *YH
