The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V536000 (Hybrid Propulsion System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the battery had previously been replaced. The check engine warning light had illuminated. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

I have been trying to take care of this urgent safety recall since February 2023. The local dealership (4520 Shelbyville Rd, Louisville, KY 40207) keeps telling me that they don't have a "loaner" care to provide to me while my vehicle is being repaired. I am a single father with 7 year old and primary care giver to 77 year old mother with Alzheimers, I must have a replacement car while mine is being repaired especially since this is the manufacturer responsibility. Please help.

We recently took our Hybrid Chrysler Pacifica to the dealer and they mentioned that there are multiple engine and transmission mounts that need to be replaced in addition to the entire transmission. I reported to them over the years that the vehicle stutters up steep hills (>13.5 degrees). The electric motor produces too much torque, lurches forward, then cuts off and repeats the process. In doing so the electric drivetrain motor is twisting the vehicle apart. It is certainly a safety issue. If we get it fixed, it will certainly happen again and to anyone that has a steep driveway or goes up inclines at less than 5 mph. The process is easily repeated. Thank you!

My car simply did not start One day in my driveway. It was towed to the dealership in early May 2022 and continues to be there. Here is the recall information. Recall StatusRecall Incomplete, remedy not yet available Summary A vehicle may experience a fire potentially originating in the center of the vehicle underbody with the ignition in the "OFF" mode. Safety Risk A vehicle fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and/or injury to persons outside the vehicle, as well as property damage. Remedy FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected vehicles. Remedy is under development. Until further notice, the Company is advising owners of these hybrid vehicles to refrain from recharging them, and to park them away from structures and other vehicles

The recall for the vehicle catching fire was issued 22 weeks ago and there is still no remedy. The only option Chrysler is offering is for us to pay over 3 grand a month for a rental and to submit for possible reimbursement each month. I cannot pay over $3,000 a month for a rental vehicle in the hopes of receiving reimbursement which still would not solve that our vehicle is parked right outside one of our bedrooms and it possibly catching fire and burning the house down with it, worries me!! I have four children, I can't just go buy a 3-seated car. They really need to come up with a remedy as of yesterday. How long do they have to provide a remedy for such a dangerous recall? Any help would be much appreciated. There was no accident.. it keeps asking me for that information..

Our Pacifica plug-in hybrid intermittently wouldn't start beginning in October, 2021, each time displaying a "Service Charging System" message and Check Engine light. In one case, it was on and would not shift into Park, and we got stuck ~30 miles from home, with kids, and had to arrange for pick up and transportation. After many attempts, we were able to start it and drove it to a dealership in Plymouth, MI on November 15th. It has been there since; the dealership wanted to replace the high voltage (hybrid) battery under warranty. Chrysler would not authorize this part to be ordered and directed the dealership to replace the Onboard Charging Module. That did not resolve the issue and they eventually (on December 27) ordered a new HV battery (which still has yet to arrive).

WHILE DRIVING, VEHICLE COMPLETELY LOST POWER/STALLED. POWER STEERING LOST, ALL ACCELERATION AND POWER ASSISTED BRAKING. INDICATOR LIGHTS FOR VARIETY OF SYSTEMS LIGHT UP. PULL OVER TO SIDE AND RESTART VEHICLE. VEHICLE EXHIBITS "HAYWIRE" BEHAVIOR, WITH INDICATORS FOR ALL SYSTEMS, INCLUDING TRACTION CONTROL TIRE PRESSURE, BATTERY, HYBRID ELECTRIC SYSTEM, PARKING BRAKE, ETC.GOING OFF. A SHORT VIDEO WAS TAKEN OF THIS BEHAVIOR WHEN RESTART WAS ATTEMPTED AFTER THE STALL. VEHICILE FAILS TO RESTART. AFTER ADDITIONAL TRY, VEHICLE STARTS, AND TRACTION CONTROL AND SOME OTHER SYSTEMS REMAIN NON FUNCTIONAL. VEHICLE IS RETURNED HOME, THEN RETURNED TO DEALER, WHO ADVISES THAT VEHICLE FIRMWARE IS UP TO DATE, AND THAT THE ISSUE "CANNOT BE DUPLICATED." VEHICLE WAS UP TO DATE ON PREVIOUS RECALLS RELATING TO STALLS. THE STALL WAS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS, AND DEALER DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM IS. WE HAVE BEEN SENT AWAY, BEING TOLD TO RETURN THE VEHICLE IF PROBLEM SHOWS UP AGAIN. WE DO NOT FEEL THAT VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE, AND DEALER HAS DONE NOTHING TO ADDRESS OR DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM. THE ISSUE CAME AFTER SOME OTHER ISSUES WITH VEHICLE SOMETIMES INDICATING THAT AIRBAGS NEED SERVICE, OR NOT RECOGNIZING THAT SEATBELTS WERE BUCKLED. I BELIEVE THE ISSUE TO BE RELATED TO PROBLEMS WITH COMPUTER FIRMWARE GOVERNING THE VEHICLE.

ON FRIDAY, 7/12, WHILE MY WIFE, [XXX] ALONG WITH MY 5 CHILDREN, WERE SITTING AT A STOPLIGHT IN OLATHE, KS NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF 119TH AND BLACKBOB , SHE NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. AS THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND SHE ACCELERATED FORWARD, TURNING WEST ONTO 119TH ST. WITHIN SECONDS OF THE LIGHT TURNING GREEN, FLAMES WERE NOTICED COMING FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SECTION OF THE CAR. MY WIFE QUICKLY PULLED TO THE SIDE OF 119TH ST, ABOUT 50 YARDS TO THE WEST OF THE INTERSECTION WITH BLACKBOB. SHE PROCEEDED TO HELP ALL 5 KIDS FROM THE VEHICLE AND AS THEY WERE RUNNING AWAY, THE VEHICLE EXPLODED INTO A FIREBALL. THE TOTAL TIME FROM HER SEEING SMOKE TO THE FIREBALL WAS LESS ABOUT 4 MINUTES. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

WHILE DRIVING TO WORK IN THE MORNING ON 19-FEB-2019, THE MIL CHECK ENGINE LAMP ILLUMINATED AS WELL AS THE "RED TURTLE" LIMP MODE INDICATOR AND A DASHBOARD MESSAGE STATING "VEHICLE SPEED MAY BE LIMITED." THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON LOCAL SURFACE STREETS ABOUT ONE MILE FROM MY PLACE OF WORK. I HAD JUST TURNED OFF A 45 MPH MAIN STREET ONTO A 35 MPH SIDE STREET. THE GAS ENGINE IN MY PHEV HYBRID VEHICLE STOPPED WORKING BUT COULD STILL OPERATE AT NORMAL SPEED IN ALL-ELECTRIC MODE. I GOT TO WORK AND PLUGGED MY PHEV VAN INTO A CHARGEPOINT EVSE TO RECHARGE. AT LUNCH, I RAN SOME ERRANDS AND NOTICED THAT THE GAS ENGINE STILL WOULD NOT OPERATE UNDER ANY CONDITIONS, WHICH IS VERY RARE DURING THE HARSH, COLD WEATHER WE WERE HAVING AT THE TIME IN THE CHICAGO AREA. AFTER RETURNING TO WORK, I MADE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR THAT EVENING. ON MY DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER WORK, THE ALL-ELECTRIC MOTOR ALSO FAILED AND STOPPED WORKING ABOUT TWO MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP. THIS HAPPENED ON A 35 MPH MAIN STREET, AND I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD AT THE TIME. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND WAS ABLE TO MOVE ABOUT 100 FEET BEFORE IT SHUT DOWN AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO REPEAT THIS PROCESS 2-3 TIMES IN ORDER TO TURN MY VEHICLE OFF ONTO A SIDE STREET SO THAT I WAS NOT IMPEDING TRAFFIC ON THE MAIN THOROUGHFARE. I HAD MY PHEV VAN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT EVENING. IT HAS NOW BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR FOR 49 DAYS, AND THEY STILL CANNOT DETERMINE WHAT CAUSED THE LOSS OF POWER AND FORWARD MOTION.

WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH ON 4-LANE DIVIDED SURFACE STREET, A WARNING CHIME SOUNDED, ALL THE DASH LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, AND THE ENGINE DIED. ONCE STOPPED, WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE. ALL THE LIGHTS REMAINED ON, AS DID THE RADIO, ETC. WAS ABLE TO 'START' THE SYSTEM IN ORDER TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND GET PUSHED TO SIDE OF ROAD. ENGINE WOULD STILL NOT TURN OVER. ELECTRONICS REMAINED ON - WOULD NOT TURN OFF EVEN WHEN DOOR WAS OPENED. TOW TRUCK DRIVER PULLED A SWITCH TO ENABLE HIM TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE STARTED. APPARENTLY WHEN THAT HAPPENED, IT CLEARED THE CODES AND THE CHRYSLER GARAGE WAS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. AFTER FOUR DAYS OF TRYING TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM, THEY GAVE UP AND GAVE ME THE CAR BACK. I AM EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING IT NOW. HAD ONE PREVIOUS INCIDENT WHERE THE CHIME SOUNDED AND ALL THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON, BUT DID NOT LOSE POWER, OR STEERING. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, BUT ONCE CAR WAS STOPPED AND THEN RESTARTED, LIGHT DID NOT COME BACK ON. BOTH TIMES THAT HAPPENED, THE ELECTRIC BATTERY WAS DEPLETED AND CAR WAS IN HYBRID MODE, USING THE GAS ENGINE.

THE CAR HAD BEEN OPERATING NORMALLY WHILE DRIVING FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES WHEN WE REALIZED WE MISSED A TURN AND DECIDED TO TURN AROUND USING A DRIVEWAY. THE CAR WAS NEVER SWITCHED OUT OF DRIVE. AFTER TURNING AROUND WE STARTED ACCELERATING TO CROSS THE TWO LANE ROAD AND THEN ALL MOTIVE POWER CUT OUT, WE LOST POWER STEERING AND COULD NOT OPERATE THE GEAR SHIFTER. THE VEHICLE STALLED, DANGEROUSLY BLOCKING BOTH LANES OF TRAFFIC WITH THREE CHILDREN AND TWO ADULTS INSIDE. WE GOT EVERYONE OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND OFF OF THE ROAD. A FEW MINUTES LATER AFTER REENTERING THE VEHICLE, IT STARTED NORMALLY.

CAR WAS POWERED ON, PUT IN REVERSE AND WE BEGAN BACKING DOWN A STEEP DRIVEWAY. PART OF THE WAY DOWN THE MOTIVE POWER CUT OUT, WE LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES AND COULD NOT OPERATE THE GEAR SHIFTER. WE COULD NOT GET THE VEHICLE TO RESTART ON THE HILL BUT WERE ABLE TO ROLL DOWN TO THE BOTTOM. ONCE AT THE BOTTOM WE WERE ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE NORMALLY.

VEHICLE LOST MOTIVE POWER WHILE ATTEMPTING TO EXCELERATE FROM A STOP ON A CITY STREET. VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED BUT LOUD CLUNKING NOISE AND VIOLENT SHAKING CAME FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT. VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND HAS BEEN AT THE LOCAL DEALER SINCE WITH LITTLE COMMUNICATION ABOUT A PROGNOSIS OR PERMANENT FIX.

THE VAN'S ENGINE STOPPED WHILE TRAVELING AT 30 MPH ON A CITY STREET. THE AC HAD BEEN RUNNING. THE HYBRID AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE DAY BOARD STATED I NEEDED TO PUT VEHICLE IN PARK TO START VAN. AFTER COASTING TO A STOP THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND TO TRYING TO USE GEAR SELECTOR. THIS CHANGED AFTER SITTING FOR 15 MINUTES. I DROVE THE VEHICLE WITH ENGINE LIGHT AND HYBRID LIGHT THE FINAL 1 MILE HOME....UPDATED 11/06/17 *BF UPDATED 11/09/2017*JS

DRIVING ON INTERSTATE WHEN THE CAR BASICALLY LOST FORWARD DRIVE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. WAS IN TRAFFIC, GOING APPROXIMATELY 5MPH WITH THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL ON, BRAKED FOR SLOWING TRAFFIC AND ON TRYING TO RE-ACCELERATE GOT NO POWER. AND DRIFTED SLOWLY TO A STOP WHILE TRYING TO RE-ENGAGE DRIVE. VEHICLE IS PHEV, WAS RUNNING ON BATTERY WITH PLENTY OF CHARGE AT THE TIME AND PLENTY OF GAS FOR HYBRID GAS ENGINE BACKUP, BUT NEITHER PROVIDED POWER. TRIED UNSUCCESSFULLY TO TURN THE CAR OFF, RESTART, RESET, ETC., BUT NOTHING WORKED DESPITE POWER TO DASH ELECTRONICS. WAS PUSHED TO SHOULDER BY STATE POLICE AND SUBSEQUENTLY TOWED TO DEALER....UPDATED 11/03/17 *BF UPDATED 11/9/2017*JS

NEW 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA HYBRID WITH 270 MILES STALLED ON A BUSY INTERSECTION AND WON'T TURN ON. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN IT LOST POWER AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE ENGINE SIGN IS ON AND MESSAGE SAYS "PRESS BRAKE TO PREVENT ROLLONG". TURNING OFF AND TURNING THE IT BACK ON DOES NOT MAKE THE ISSUE GO AWAY.
