I was traveling at south bound on TOLL 130 going 80MPH (which is the speed limit on that road) when my Pacifica immediately slowed down and my accelerator gave out. In addition to my dash flashing that the cruise control was no longer available, but the van also said "Service Charging System" and "Shift to P to Start", the engine light and batter light both came on. I am sure that I almost died as I was in the middle lane and cars were whipping around me since I had slowed down so much, there was an 18 wheeler behind me and one of my righthand side, which is the shoulder I was trying to get to. I was finally able to coast to the shoulder and came to a stop, put the car in park and turned it off. I immediately started researching what the problem could be and I was alarmed to find out that this is an issue that others have had and that Chrysler has failed to issue a recall...I was able to start the car once more and get on to a little back road, after pushing through a barricade off the toll just for safety's sake, and my van broke down again, this time on a little 2 lane road, which thankfully had a little bit of a gravel shoulder. This time, my van took quite a bit longer to get started, but I was not safe where I was. I started it once more and was able to get to a Wal-Mart parking lot where my brother-in-law picked me up so that I could have a chance of making it to see my grandmother who was on her deathbed, I missed my window of opportunity to make it to see her, she died that afternoon. I had to pay an additional tow fee to get the vehicle moved from the parking lot to a Chrysler dealership since it was so far from where I usually go.
I have a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. I purchased it brand new in 2018. This van has had sooo many problems, it has been in and out of the shop, countless recalls. Last year it was in the shop for almost the entire year, I think I had possession of the van for less than 3 months of the year. I just brought my van in for a recall related to the hybrid battery and it was returned to me in December, within 2 weeks there were check engine lights on and when I googled the code that was showing I found a ton of blogs about how people had the same recall done and within a short period of time this code came up and it meant the hybrid battery needs to be replaced. I reached out to the dealer and brought it in to get looked at. After a couple weeks I was told that the replacement of the battery would not be covered under the recall since part of the recall solution is testing the battery, and it tested good. I literally had only had the van back for 2 weeks. And I have countless records of engine codes showing up for years. I currently have 8 active engine codes showing. I know there is an open investigation concerning the recall I just had the remedy done for and I am 100% sure that this defect is related to that recall.
Vehicle states "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" with a red turtle logo. I have restarted the vehicle, and the warning persists. I am bringing in the car to the dealer next.
On [XXX], my vehicle produced a large red wrench and a turtle warning on a busy highway and I was forced to pull to the side with my [XXX] son in the car, as the vehicle lost motive power. It was towed to the dealer and after several days, they told me the issue was due to normal wear and tear in the transmission. I had to escalate to a service manager to even get a diagnosis after 5 days in the shop. I believe my transmission issue is due to a failure of the fix implemented in the 03A/NHTSA 23V-010 recall. It has been documented that the software update did not fix the issue. My vehicle experienced the exact series of failures described in the recall. Chrysler is refusing to fix my vehicle, even though they had extended the warranty on my Pacifica to unlimited miles/unlimited years because of all of the transmission issues the model has experienced. I would appreciate it if someone could look into this and Chrysler's unwillingness to stand behind their products and provide fixes for their recalls that work. I have a Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid which has had multiple recalls for the battery causing fires with no resolution. The NHTSA website said to submit a complaint "If the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner". The most recent recall was in July without resolution but the battery has been recalled multiple times over the last few years without actual fix being done.
Chrysler has still not offered a remedy for this recall .the vehicle was purchased used and selling dealer did not provide recall info until the sale had been completed. I love the vehicle except the possible fire hazard in the recall makes me nervous to drive it . Chrysler told me earlier recalls were for this hazard but now says remedy is incomplete!!
My vehicle was performing great - no Issues what so ever until FCA performed Recall 03A. After I had FCA US LLC Recall 03A for Loss of Motive Power installed; my vehicle had several issues the same day I picked it up from the Dealer. They stated it was ready for pickup even with all my issues and they new I had ½ of them and still turned it over to me. . 50 % of the issues are still waiting to be repaired. The Major issue remaining is the High Voltage Battery. After 1 year of them trying to get the vehicle back to the condition I turned it in before for the Recall - Chrysler refuses to replace the HV battery under the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. They will not let anyone order the part even the dealer can not. To order the bad part Chrysler STAR (FCAs part replacement approval authority) has to Approve it. They say they won't replace it due to normal degradation. I was getting 30 miles per full charge and after the Recall I was only getting18-20 Miles per full charge. That is Not normal degradation. Now I only get 17-18 miles per charge. They Degraded my battery with their Recall. The battery degraded by 33% in 2 weeks – that is Not normal their Recall caused it. I feel someone needs to enforce them to put my vehicle back the the same as I turned it over to them September 26, 2023 at their Expense no matter what it takes. The following is the list of issues in the past year because of Recall 03A. Basically my vehicle was in the shop for repairs Almost the Entire year! 1. Engine Lite is on all the time since Recall. 2. Charging System Errors. 3. Gear Selector does not work intermittently making undrivable. 4. Side doors and lift gate do not open or close automatically. 5. Radio Display keeps flashing intermittently 6. Back Up Camera flash on and off. 7. Every lite on the dash lights up - Giving my vehicle Multiple CANBUS Errors shorting out every computer system in the vehicle 20+ computers.

I was driving with my family on the interstate and was exiting when the car shuddered and I lost propulsion. Interior electrical power was still functional. This occurred as the car was switching to gas mode as I had been been driving about 30-35 miles on electric at that point. The gas motor never came on. I was able to roll into a gas station since we were on a bit of a downhill. Shut off car and waited a beat then started car again, battery showed 1% and was able to pull 2 more feet into gas station and off to side before it completely died again (battery at 0%). I feel extremely fortunate that this didn't happen a moment earlier when I was on the expressway and that were able to get off of a busy road. I had the vehicle towed to nearest Chrysler dealer and had a friend drive me and my family to a nearby car rental place. After two weeks at the dealer, we were informed that the issue was likely the Power Inverter Module. We are still without car and waiting for updates from service department.
Tried to start car. When start button was pressed the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Multiple error messages. FCW unavailable, power steering unavailable, fuel door open, park brake unavailable, park sense unavailable, Service hybrid electric system, power steering unavailable. The gear indication, both on dash and by shifter was flashing. The car would not turn off. I had to open hood and disconnect 12v battery for the car to power off. Waited 10 seconds and connected 12v and it power on, but the check engine light is still active
On Sunday, November 5, 2023, our 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid caught fire in our garage. Please refer to the attached PDF which details the incident. I have pictures and videos of the incident as well as a report from the fire department is being prepared. We have placed home and auto claims with our insurance provider, and we are also working with a disaster recovery company who is compiling a report on the damages and losses. - What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? My educated guess from what I witnessed and discussions with the firefighters is it was the car’s electric battery. - How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Refer to PDF; further would this have happened at night and as discussed with the fire department, the toxic smoke, heat, and fire/explosion would very likely have caused the situation to have a much more catastrophic outcome. - Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I do not know specifically; however, please note PDF related to NHTSA Recall # 20V-334 we had completed in September 2023. - Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Refer to PDF; after the fire was extinguished and at the directive of the fire department, the car was taken to a local salvage yard for safety/risk of reigniting. - Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Refer to PDF; no, there were no warning signs other than the smell that morning and the service charging system notification after I unplugged the vehicle. We had driven the van the previous day with no issues, and when my wife left the house around 930 that morning through the garage, she did not notice a smell or anything unusual.
Pull into garage with <1% hybrid battery. Pressed the power button and the Pacifica threw an error about servicing the transmission and it would not disconnect the power to shut off the vehicle. Opened the hood and disconnected the 12v battery to complete remove electric from the system. The van completed a shutdown. Reconnected the 12v battery and closed the hood. Car returned to working conditions.
In March my van stalled as I was turning through a busy intersection with my child in the front seat. We narrowly avoided being t-boned. For a second the dash lit up with lights and then it said to shift to park to start vehicle but I couldn't shift. After finally getting it in neutral some good samaritans helped me push it out of the intersection and while I sat off to the side, after about 15 minutes of getting out and checking under the hood, the car started. We used our own code reader and it threw the PoA79 code. We brought it to Lewisville with an appointment, told them about the stall and they did the Z11 recall work for the fire risk with the battery but say there are no issues with the battery and no codes, but they have us ready for the recall work on Loss of Motive Power as soon as the recall work is available because loss of power is a known issue. They think my stall is related to the recall and needs a software update so hold off. Pick the van up after Easter. 3 months later it stalls again, this time with my child and husband on the freeway! After about 10 minutes of everything flashing, it starts again just as it did before, and the CEL clears. We call and are told that the Loss of Motive Power recall O3A process is now out for the 2018. We have never noticed an unexpected loss of charge. We were charging outside and far from our house, per the recall. No lobster popping up. Make an appointment for the O3A recall work and the van stalls on the way. This time it doesn't restart As I understand it, the transmission issue is that transmission case castings causes the high voltage wires to chafe and short out. We are told that we do not have a transmission or a battery issue, it is the On Board Charging Module has internal damage. They are unable to explain how a van that was at 95% charge and with a 12V that showed it wasn't depleted now has an internally damaged OBCM. And they don't know if that is the fundamental underlying problem with stalls.
The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. The contact stated that the dealer had completed the recall repair of NHTSA Campaign Number 23V010000 (Electrical System, Hybrid Propulsion System) on the vehicle; however, after the repair, the message "Service Hybrid Battery," was displayed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - The dealer / manufacturer is unable to determine the root cause. The car shut down while I was driving on the highway. It does not start, meaning no engine turnover to operate / drive the vehicle. The only known issue was the recall for the electrical component failure. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - Yes, both myself and others on the highway were at great risk. As my car shut down, I lost control of the vehicle - no power steering or ability to use the accelerator. My vehicle slowed to 40mph in the right lane, while other vehicles including trucks were still traveling at high speeds and quickly approached my vehicle. They did not see the hazard lights until they were only 20 feet away. This was very close to a fatal accident. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - No. There is no solve to the issue. They claim, however, that they are replacing the *entire* transmission and think that this will fix the car. Yet, this seems to be an entirely separate, unrelated issue. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - Yes, I received an error message 1 day prior. See attachment photo of dashboard. I was instructed by the dealer to drive it into the dealership the very next day - the day the car shut down on the highway.

My Pacifica Hybrid van has been at a Chrysler dealership (Castle Rock in Colorado) for over six weeks now to have the Z11 recall addressed. It is clear that neither Chrysler nor their dealers know how to properly fix this (potentially lethal) issue with their vehicle batteries. Chrysler have failed to provide a loaner vehicle, even though it is stated in their recall letter that they would, and their "Customer Care" hotline have been unable to assist in any way. No one will call me back or otherwise inform me of next steps.

With Chrysler, recalls are never ending. Last year there was battery recall (Z11) that took 10 months to fix. Just after I got that fixed in Dec-2022, in Feb-2023, we have a new recall, where the vehicle is pretty much rendered useless as it can stop anytime on freeway. My friend who has the car had the vehicle suddenly lose traction and stop in freeway (this happened last week). Fortunately nothing happened as he was able to exit safely. Given it hit so close to home, I am scared to drive my Chrysler Pacifica car anymore. When i contact Chrysler for possible remedies like offering a rental assistance e.t.c they are adamant and refuse to help in anyway. I don't understand this ; I have brought a car in good faith and for no fault of mine , i need to spend on "rental car" now? In prior recalls, Chrysler did offer Rental assistance, but this time around they seem to refuse to entertain any such help. This is really a very precarious situation for me. My wife constantly uses this car to shuttle kids to/from school/activities and frequently needs to use it on freeway. I am really concerned for my family's safety and well being. I think this unfortunate stance by Chrysler is placing us in great danger. Pls help!!

I was driving with my family about 30mph and for no reason, the vehicle lost power and I coasted and braked to a stop on the side of the road. Nothing I did would bring any response from the vehicle while it was coasting. A short time later while stopped, I was able to turn the vehicle off and then was able to turn it back on. This happened about a year ago and I thought it was strange. It has not re-occurred. I did not seek out any resolution until I found out about the 03A recall (NHTSA 23V-010). That recall describes what happened to me. My vehicle is currently undergoing multiple attempts to perform the Z11 recall (NHTSA 22V-077) so I do not currently have access to my vehicle.
I have been contacted multiple times by dealerships and Chrysler that my vehicle needs the Z11 (NHTSA 22V-077) recall performed and that it is urgent for me and my family's safety. I have been trying to get the Z11 recall performed since February 2023. I have contacted 3 local dealerships to do the job but scheduling was difficult and there is no loaner cars available. The first dealer (Autonation CDJR of Katy Texas) who has done all my previous recalls just wanted me to bring the car in to sit for 3 days while not performing the recall. The second was inexperienced and unqualified. After a week delay, I took my car into the third dealer (Big Star Dodge in Webster Texas) on 3/13/2023, but after two days they told me they were having trouble with equipment and gave me the vehicle back on 3/15/2023. They rescheduled for 3/27/2023 and I took it in again. The first attempt to perform the recall procedure failed as a mistake was made. The recall procedure should take 2 days but it has been there for a week. The recall procedure was written poorly by Chrysler/FCA/Stellantis and confuses the technicians so the test is not performed as it should be and has to be repeated multiple times. The extra manipulation and time at the dealership increases the probability that my vehicle will be messed up or damaged. Chrysler/FCA/Stellantis bears the responsibility for the delays and poor performance of the recall causing the unnecessary loss of my vehicle's use and delays the recall performance, increasing my risk described by the recall. Performance of the recall has not been timely or done correctly yet.
Check engine light stays on and car does not charge. Both recalls were done at the dealership

Pacifica Hybrid Limited found completely dead in our driveway and unresponsive to the remote. I manually unlocked the driver door, no usual dash indications, opened the hood and found the 12v battery system at 2.9v. It would not start & no responses or indications. There had been no warnings or indications of any problems prior to this. The car prevented my 6 A charger from charging the battery while it was connected to the car. I jump started the car with a known good battery, removed the jump, and allowed the engine to charge the car battery some. I decided to take no chances and replace the 12v battery. I turned the car to the OFF state via the dash push button. The car was never moved out of P park. I left it to go purchase a new 12v battery. I returned 2 hours later with a new battery to find the car in the street and having knocked over my neighbors 700-800 lb brick mail box. A police report was filed, pictures taken, and I jump started the car with the new battery. It started normally and I backed it up under its own power into my driveway where I replaced the 12v battery without incident. The car has operated normally with no warnings or indications of a problem before and since the incident. The car on its own and while OFF, unlocked the transmission park pawl allowing the car to roll 80 feet down a very mild slope and across the street to crash into my neighbor’s mail box when the 12v battery failed. There was no occupant, and no key fob was present. My quick search has found at least 3 other incidents with this same model, where the 12v battery failed and the car, on its own, unlocked the transmission allowing it to roll away. Of the 4 incidents I am aware of, 3 resulted in collisions and property damage. Hi, I have owned this Chrysler Pacifica since 2018 and there have been multiple problems regarding the electrical system every single year and in 2022 it is twice. Every time it goes in for an electrical problem it takes greater than one month to fix the car. The current issue is the recall. My dealer says every other car with recall has been fixed in 2-3 days. Mine is already at 2 weeks. I have filed a Customer complaint with Chrysler and the current one is: 84472903. The one from earlier in 2022 is 82927664. Please contact Chrysler for the complete list of remaining customer complaints on this Chrysler of one each in 2021, 2020, 2019, and 2018
I was driving on a local road and car suddenly stopped running; accelarator unresponsive; power steering not working either. I was able to pull to side. Car said shift P to start , gear change didn't do anything and blinking, check engine light came up. And “check charging system” light came on. It was very dangerous. After 3-4 minutes I was able to get my car turn off and on and then it drove normal. So I decided to take it in nearby open parking area. It would restart but not do anything even if switched into drive or reverse. Check charging system light on and no power steering again. I had to get it to get it towed the next day from that lot. First tow truck unable to tow due to steering being locked. 2nd tow truck needed help to move car due to steering. Been at dealer for 30 days. They changed charging port but it didn’t work. Now they are changing battery. I don’t want this car back and don’t want to keep making payments on it either. It’s not a safe car.
While driving an a well paved road, I received a check hybrid system alert on my dashboard. Then several lights bean to flash including the blind spot alerts on the side view mirrors and several other alert system. Adaptive cruise control and lane change failure alerts also went off. I was only two miles from home and managed to get back. The engine did not cut out. The next morning, it started up but just a few miles into testing it out, the same alerts and light appeared, but this time the engine died along with the power steering. I coasted to roadside, turned off the car, and waited for 5 to 10 minutes. I started it up and drove it home. The engine remained on but the lights and warning continued to flash. The emergency lights also cut out periodically. I managed to drive the car to a Chrysler dealership I've visited in the past. The diagnostic alert on the Mopar app said there was a problem with the Electronic Throttle control (ETC) and the service person that looked over the diagnostic saw several system failure and alerts when he viewed the diagnostic record. At this point, the dealership has had my car for the week and the problems persist and now it won't go into gear. They still cannot determine the source of the problem. I contacted the Chrysler support line to ask them to escalate the problem. There is an open recall on this vehicle, but the parts are still not available to fix it. It only has 101,000 miles on it. I've found several complaints from Pacifica Hybrid owners related to the same ETC alert.
2108 Hybrid Pacifica stalled a couple of times on freeway on our recent trip . Here are the details : About 2 hours after driving on freeway. - then, dashboard showed few errors and eventually showing "service charging system" - then displaying "shift to P to start" and "D" symbol is flashing. - after this, pacifica van lost power ( pushing accelerating do nothing ) but steering, brake seems OK and I had to steer the car to freeway shoulder and then turn off the car and start again after a few minutes and can start the car again but "engine check light" is on for at least 24 hours after. - After starting again, then a half a hour later, it happened again with same symptoms as above. The car has about 40,000 miles and running in gas mode only. These are very dangerous situation and luckily this time, I had time to steer the Pacifica to a complete stop.
While traveling at 75+ mph on a multi-lane highway the vehicle shut off displaying warnings "Shift to P to Start" "Service Charging System" "Sliding Door Open" "Forward Collision Warning Unavailable" and large red turtle icons. With the van shut off the only option available was to coast to side of the road/shoulder while trying to avoid other high speed vehicles and while the other vehicles attempted to dodge me. The vehicle has been at the dealer 5 times. Various codes are always available but they are unable to recreate the problem. The first visit the 12v battery was replaced. The most recent visit (the van is still at the dealer) the dealership and the manufacturer tore apart the van and checked parts for 5 weeks and could not identify anything wrong. I have pictures and lists of conditions, codes and problems. There is no warning when this happens, the vehicle merely chimes and lets the driver know that it's no longer on.
The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V334000 (Electrical System) and 22V077000 (Hybrid Propulsion System) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
On 06/10/2022, the Uconnect system began to randomly reboot including within 30 to 60 seconds of starting the vehicle. If in reverse during a reboot of the system , the rear cross traffic sensors no longer provide alerts and the rear camera is disabled while the system reboots. The system then reboots every 2 to 4 minutes after. Additionally, the GPS no longer accepts coordinates for navigation, clock or date.
The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V077000 (Hybrid Propulsion System). The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the dealer was contacted and confirmed that the part to do the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to charge while plugged in. The dealer was contacted but was unable to determine the cause of the failure, but stated that the failure might be related to the recall. The contact was informed that the vehicle could not be taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing because the recall remedy was not available. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously included and repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V334000 (Electrical System). The contact feels that both recalls were related. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened a case. The contact stated that the manufacturer confirmed that the remedy was not available and offered no further assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

While driving at 60mph, vehicle shut off and would not allow me to accelerate. Error message displayed on speedometer, vehicle must be in park to shift gears. The PRNDL blue LED was flashing as well. Several indicator lights on my dashboard illuminated too. Vehicle has approximately 9300 miles on it. This is a pacifica e-hybrid. After pulling off the road I was able to restart and the van worked in “limp home” mode with the red turtle displayed. I then limped the van to a gas station, shut off the van, topped off the fuel tank which had been at 1/4 full, and after a few minutes restarted. After restart, only the yellow check engine light was displayed and the van operated normal. I have read a safety recall exists but Chrysler is saying it is not an active recall for my specific VIN even though I am experiencing the same problems as other owners. I am pretty sure it is associated with one of: 19V348000, 18V049000, or 18V524000. The dealer won’t repair this under recall since all my “active recalls” have been fixed. I can’t drive the vehicle safely but how can I get it fixed if Chrysler won’t repair the issue I am having. With no error codes saved, the dealer said unless it replicates while they have it they won’t be able to diagnose.
The car 12v battery drains completely, rendering the vehicle immobile and completely non functional. There has been an electrical burning smell once the car is jump started and driving. I fear there is some kind of short or electrical discharge somewhere that could render the vehicle inoperable or start a fire at my home or while the car is being used. This vehicle has been at the dealer for 7 weeks and they have not found the problem. I have been told that the car has been connected to a computer system that is being "looked into" remotely by Chrysler. They have replaced the battery and the charging management system at my expense. The problems started when the car had 38000 miles and began with the "radio" which controls many other functions of the car constantly rebooting and having corrupted firmware which I was told cannot be fixed, only replaced. I have since been told this unit cannot be ordered at this time.
This happened the Day after we purchased the 2018 hybrid Pacifica limited. While Driving the van started to stall out (wouldn’t go when pushing gas) and said shift to P(park) to start. Pulled over turned off the van and restarted it, that didn’t fix the problem. Restarted again and it went back to normal but the check engine light is on. Also the battery is dying extremely fast. Within 5 miles it’ll go from 40% to 0%.
MANUFACTURER (CHRYSLER) MAILED ME A LEGAL NOTICE THAT MY VEHICLE COULD CATCH FIRE AND / OR EXPLODE AT ANYTIME WHETHER PARKED, IDLING OR DRIVING BECAUSE OF A DEFECT IN THE HYBRID BATTERY COMPONENTS (INVERTER). THEY TOLD ME NOT TO PARK NEXT TO ANYTHING OR ANYONE, NOT TO ALLOW MOISTURE OF ANY KIND INTO THE VEHICLE AND TO NOT PARK OR STORE IT IN ANY ENCLOSED STRUCTURE LIKE A GARAGE. THEY SAID TO WAIT FOR A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM AS THERE WAS NOT YET RESOLUTION. I RESPONDED TO THEM ASKING FOR A LOANER CAR OR RENTAL AND WAS TOLD NO. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR AND STILL NO CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP CAN OFFER A FIX, HOWEVER THEY DID COME OUT WITH A 2020 MODEL THAT WAS BUILT WITHOUT THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY RECALL THAT OUR GOVERNMENT SEEMS TO BE IGNORING. I AM LEFT WITH A LEMON I CANNOT SAFELY STORE PARK OR DRIVE. I PAID 55K FOR THIS HYBRID, WAS TOLD I WOULD GET 80 MPG WHEN I ONLY GET 17 MPG AND I HAVE TO WORRY THAT IF MOISTURE GETS INTO THESE HYBRID BATTERY COMPONENTS BY VEHICLE COULD KILL ME OR OTHERS. I LIVE IN WASHINGTON WHERE EVERYTHING IS WET AND WE HAVE TO TAKE FERRIES..: CHRYSLER DOESN'T RESPOND TO MY LETTERS.
WHEN I SHIFTED INTO REVERSE TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPOT WHERE I'D HAD THE CAR TURNED OFF, THE MAIN INFOTAINMENT SCREEN WENT COMPLETELY BLUE AFTER BRIEFLY SHOWING THE USUAL BACKUP CAMERA AND 360 VIEW. IT WAS ABOUT 23 DEGREES OUTSIDE.

A SAFETY RECALL WAS ISSUED IN THE SPRING OF 2020. I'VE TRIED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS TO GET A DEALER TO INSPECT AND/OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE AND THEY HAVE NOT DONE SO. I HAVE BEEN TOLD NUMEROUS TIMES THAT PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER. NO ONE WILL EVEN INSPECT THE VEHICLE. IN THE MEANTIME, I'VE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO PARK MY VEHICLE OUTSIDE SO THAT IT DOESN'T BURN MY HOUSE DOWN. IT SHOULD NOT TAKE A YEAR TO INSPECT AND REPAIR A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE
MY CAR PURCHASED IN 2018 FROM REED JEEP CHRYLSER IN OVERLAND PARK KANSAS. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2020, THE VEHICLE WAS IN HYBRID/ELECTRIC MODE AND STOPPED RUNNING AS WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET. WE WERE DRIVING SLOWLY AND ABLE TO COAST TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WERE ABLE TO SAFELY LEAVE IT ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET. THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND IT WAS NOT AN ISSUE RELATED TO THE STARTER OR BATTERY. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE PROBLEM WAS REVIEWED BY THE ENGINEERING TEAM WITH CHRYSLER AND IT WAS FOUND TO BE A COMPUTER ELECTRICAL HYBRID COMPONENT. ORIGINALLY, CHRYSLER ADVISED THEY HAD NO REPLACEMENT PART ANYWHERE IN THE COUNTRY. AFTER TWO WEEKS, THEY ADVISED THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO GET A COMPONENT FROM THE COMPONENT MANUFACTURER BUT THAT IT WOULD TAKE TIME. THE CAR REMAINED IN THE SERVICE CENTER FOR AT LEAST TWO ADDITIONAL WEEKS. THEY REPLACED THE REGULAR BATTERY AND PERFORMED RECALL ON OTHER COMPONENTS DURING THIS TIME AS WELL. A LITTLE OVER A MONTH LATER, THE SAME FAILURE/PROBLEM OCCURRED. FORTUNATELY, WE WERE AGAIN ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AND LEAVE IT. A COUPLE OF HOURS LATER, WE WERE ABLE TO START IT AND GET IT BACK TO OUR RESIDENCE. WE TRIED TO CHARGE IT USING THE 240V CHARGER WE HAD BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT TAKE ANY ADDITIONAL CHARGE EVEN THOUGH NOT FULLY CHARGED. THREE DAYS LATER, WE RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT AND WERE TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. OUR OVERARCHING CONCERN IS SAFETY, AS THERE IS NO WARNING AS TO WHEN THE CAR WILL SHUT DOWN.

SINCE DECEMBER 2018, WE HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY 3 TIMES SINCE THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THERE WAS SMOKE SMELL COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND PROBLEMS CORRECTED, BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON MORE THAN 3 OCCASIONS. THE GPS SYSTEM HAS NOT BEEN WORKING SINCE MARCH 2020, BUT THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO FIX THE ISSUES. OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT CHRYSLER HAS NOT RESPONDED TO THEIR MULTIPLE REQUESTS FOR THE RADIO REPLACEMENT. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY, THE ENGINE STARTED LOSING POWER AND WOULD NOT REACT TO THE GAS PEDAL. IN ADDITION, THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT CHANGE WHEN I TRIED TO CHANGE IT FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL. THE CAR WOULD PURPOSELY BE SLOWED DOWN BY THE ENGINE AS IT WAS STUCK IN DRIVE POSITION. THE CREATED A DANGEROUS SITUATION AS IT WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL CAR TO MOVE IT INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE. AFTER PULLING OVER, SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE AND VENTS. I WAS THEN UNABLE TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE AS THE POWER BUTTON WOULD NOT REACT WHEN PRESSED. PER THE DEALERSHIP, THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WAS CLOGGED AND OVERHEATED SO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE OXYGEN SENSOR. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED IN A CAR THAT IS ONLY 1.5 YEARS OLD AND CREATED A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION ON THE FREEWAY.

AS OF 1/14/20 CHRYSLER AND KEVIN PIKE FROM NEDERVELD ARE STILL INVESTIGATING. ON 9/20 AROUND 5AM WE WERE AWOKE TO AN EXPLOSION SOUND. IT WAS OUR GARAGE DOOR BEING BLOWN TO THE STREET AND THE INTERIOR GARAGE DOOR BEING BLOWN INWARDS. THIS WAS DUE TO A FIRE THAT STARTED IN OUR GARAGE CONFIRMED TO HAVE STARTED WHERE THE PACIFICA WAS PARKED. THE PACIFICA HAD BEEN PLUGGED IN TO A JUICEBOX CHARGER PROFESSIONALLY WIRED WITH A DEDICATED 220V OUTLET SINCE AROUND 7PM THE PREVIOUS EVENING. I BELIEVE SOMETHING MALFUNCTIONED WITH THE CAR'S ELECTRIC BATTERY CAUSING IT TO START A FIRE THAT BUILT UP IN THE GARAGE AND EVENTUALLY CAUSED A TOTAL LOSS OF OUR HOME AND EVERYTHING INSIDE IT. WE DID NOT HAVE ANY OTHER FLAMMABLE OR EXPLOSIVE SUBSTANCES IN THE GARAGE BESIDES A 1 GALLON GAS CONTAINER ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE GARAGE CONFIRMED TO NOT BE NEAR THE START OF THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN COMPLETELY DRAINED OF BATTERY THE PREVIOUS DAY, PLUGGED IN AND WAS CHARGING OVERNIGHT. THIS DESCRIPTION ALSO MATCHES THE SAME DESCRIPTION 2 OTHER FAMILIES HAVE POSTED ONLINE OF THEIR PACIFICA CATCHING FIRE BUT THEIR VEHICLES WERE PARKED OUTSIDE SO DID NOT BURN DOWN THEIR HOMES AND NO INVESTIGATION WAS CONDUCTED.*DT*JB*DT *DT*JB*DT*JB*DT THE CONSUMER PROVIDED PHOTOS. *TR

I LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY AND HAVE HAD MY CHRYSLER PACIFICA PHEV FOR JUST OVER A YEAR. ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO, I HAD (MORE) ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS CAUSING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO BE CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER FOUND THAT MY ENGINE WIRING HAD BEEN CHEWED PRESUMABLY BY SQUIRRELS. THEY KINDLY PATCHED UP WHAT THEY COULD FIND AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SHORTLY AFTER THAT, JUST BEFORE A LONG VACATION. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER TODAY AND WITHOUT ANY PRETEXT, THE INTAKE SPECIALIST SAID, AS IF IT WERE COMMON INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE, THAT "THE WIRE INSULATION IS SOY-BASED PLASTIC AND THAT'S WHY SQUIRRELS LIKE TO EAT IT." IF THIS IS THE CASE AND THE FACT IS THAT A MANUFACTURER IS PRODUCING VEHICLES THAT WITHIN THE INDUSTRY ARE KNOWN TO ATTRACT VERMIN, THIS MUST BE INSPECTED. I'M DRIVING A CAR WITH GIANT LITHIUM BATTERIES, WHICH IF SHORTED COULD EASILY CAUSE FIRE AND DEATH. PLEASE DON'T LET THIS GO UNADDRESSED.

ON AUGUST 7, WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A STATE HIGHWAY, AROUND 30 MPH, MY VAN SUDDENLY STOPPED AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN. I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES WHILE THE CAR MADE NOISES AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS AND OTHER DASHBOARD WARNINGS FLASHED. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO RESTART MY CAR TO MOVE IT TO A SAFE LOCATION. MY "MICROMECHANIC" ENGINE LIGHT READER GAVE ME CODES U0401 AND U0100, LOST COMMUNICATION WITH ECM/PCM AND INVALID DATA RECEIVED FROM ECM/PCM- AND SAID THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER ABOUT A WEEK, THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY REBOOTED THE COMPUTER AND TEST DROVE THE CAR ABOUT 15 MILES AND IT WAS WORKING AGAIN. THEY SAID IT WAS SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE AND HAD ME PICK IT UP. I HAD THE CAR BACK FOR 10 DAYS. ON AUGUST 22, I WAS ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE WORK. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY IN THE PARKING GARAGE. WHEN I STARTED MY CAR, THE SAME THING HAPPENED - IT BEGAN FLASHING AND BEEPING. I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF OR MOVE THE CAR. WHEN I PUSHED THE IGNITION BUTTON INSTEAD OF TURNING THE CAR OFF IT WOULD RE-CYCLE AND BEGIN BEEPING AGAIN. I RAN THE MICROMECHANIC AND IT GAVE ME THE SAME CODES U0100 AND U0401 DEALING WITH ECM AND PCM. I HAD TO STAY WITH THE CAR 2.5 HOURS TO WAIT FOR THE TOW TRUCK AND THE ENTIRE TIME IT BEEPED AND FLASHED - I WAS UNABLE TO TURN IT OFF. I HAD IT TOWED BACK TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP, WHERE IT STILL IS CURRENTLY. BOTH TIMES THIS OCCURRED THE CAR WAS NOT CHARGED ELECTRICALLY BUT HAD GASOLINE FUEL.

THE MINIVAN BEGAN TO HAVE A MESSAGE ON THE DASH BOARD INDICATING THE DRIVER TO SHIFT TO P AND RESTART THE CAR WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. THE CAR PROCEEDED TO DECELERATE WITHOUT THE DRIVER PRESSING ON THE BRAKES. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES. ONCE, IT WAS WHILE THE CAR WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE DECELERATION BEGAN. THE DRIVER HAD TO PULL OFF TO THE OFF RAMP TO EXIT AND THE CAR STALLED. THE SECOND TIME THE CAR WAS STOPPED WHILE WAITING FOR A STOP LIGHT TO TURN GREEN AND IT WON'T RESTART. THE THIRD TIME HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR WAS ON THE HIGHWAY ABOUT TO GET OFF TO THE OFF RAMP AND THE STALLING BEGAN. CHRYSLER KEPT SAYING THAT THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED WHEN WE BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER BUT IT KEPT HAPPENING. ALSO, THE MAIN SCREEN KEEPS GOING BLANK FOR THE DVD PLAYER AND YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO UTILIZE THAT FUNCTION. WE WERE TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED WHEN WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER BUT IT CONTINUED AFTER EACH FIX. ALL OF THESE REPAIRS ARE ON CHRYSLER DATABASE.

SIMILAR FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE HERE FOR THE 2019 PACIFICA HYBRID LIMITED. BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN DEC. 2018. NOW ONLY 2,000 MILES ON IT, THE MINIVAN RATTLED ON STARTUP (WITH 60% CHARGED) AND COULD BARELY ACCELERATE WHEN I TRIED MERGING INTO A MAIN ROAD. THE VEHICLE PUT ITSELF INTO A LOW-SPEED MODE (AKA THE FAMOUS 'RED TURTLE MODE'), AND THEN WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE AT ALL! FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER INTO A PARKING LOT. UNABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE BY PUTTING INTO 'P' GEAR, HAD TO COMPLETELY TURN OFF, LOCK THE VEHICLE, THEN CAME BACK TO START THE VEHICLE TO RECOVER THE POWER. HOWEVER, THE ENGINE LIGHT STILL LEFT ON. AFTER VISITING THE DEALERSHIP, THEY DECIDED TO REPLACE THE HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY. IT TOOK MORE THAN 40 DAYS FOR THE WHOLE PROCESS. IT'S FAR FROM THE ENDING OF THIS TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE SINCE MULTIPLE FAULTS CAME AFTER PICKING UP THE VEHICLE. WITHIN ONE WEEK AFTER PICKING UP THE VEHICLE, WE EXPERIENCED ANOTHER ENGINE LIGHT ON AND ONE NEW WARNING LIGHT 'SERVICE HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE SYSTEM' (A RED ELECTRICAL WRENCH SYMBOL). BOTH LIGHTS ENDED UP WITH DISAPPEARING THEMSELVES AFTER DRIVING SOME DISTANCE. LASTLY, WE EXPERIENCED MORE THAN THREE TIMES ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS AUTOMATICALLY TURNED OFF THEN BACK ON WITHOUT ANY CLUE. THESE HAPPENED TWICE WHILE I WAS CRUISING ON THE HIGHWAY, AND ONCE HAPPENED IN THE PARKING LOT WHILE I WAS BACKING INTO THE PARKING LOT.

WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 70MPH ON THE FREEWAY. A "THUNK" SOUND OCCURRED AND THE CAR BEGAN DECELERATING RAPIDLY DESPITE PRESSING DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO DECELERATE. CABIN FILLED WITH A SMALL AMOUNT OF SMOKE. CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE AT ALL. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON TO GET IT THE FINAL 100 FEET TO A GAS STATION. PARKED AND THE CAR SMELLED LIKE SMOKE/BURNING IN THE CABIN AND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE UNTIL A TOW TRUCK ARRIVED. WHEN TOW TRUCK ARRIVED, TURNED VEHICLE ON TO TURN OFF ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE; ALL ELECTRONICS IN THE VEHICLE WERE ACTING UP AND COULD NOT TURN OFF PARKING BRAKE FOR A GOOD 15 MINUTES. FINALLY GOT IT OFF AND TOWED TO THE CLOSEST DEALER. *DT *TR

THE CAR ENGINE WAS NOT RESPONDING WHEN THE CAR WAS STATIONARY (IN A PARKING LOT) AND ALL THE ELECTRONICS SYSTEMS WERE CONTINUOUSLY ON FOR 3-4 HOURS AND SECOND ROW DOORS AND TRUNK WERE NOT OPENING. THE CAR CAN NOT BE TOWED AS THE CAR WONT GO INTO NEUTRAL MODE, THE MANUAL WAY TO PUT THE CA IN NEUTRAL MODE WAS USING A YELLOW CABLE AND THE CABLE ITSELF WAS MISSING. THIS IS THE MANUFACTURERS DEFECT AS THE CAR IS NOT FULLY LOADED SO ITS NOT FUNCTIONAL. THIS HAPPENED TWICE WITHIN A WEEK AND CAUSED LOT OF TROUBLE TO GET HELP. BOTH THE TIME I HAD TO SPEND 4-5 HOURS TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE CAR WILL JUMP START AFTER ALL THE ELECTRONICS SYSTEM IS OFF (AFTER 3-4 HOURS) AND THEN IT WOULD BE DRIVABLE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE THIS CAR ANYMORE SPECIALLY BECAUSE I DRIVE THIS CAR AROUND THE TOWN WITH MY KIDS. THE CAR CAN SHUT OFF EVEN WHILE DRIVING SO ITS A DANGEROUS CAR TO DRIVE AROUND ANYWHERE.

I WAS DRIVING THE CHRYSLER PACIFICA HYBRID 2018 COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. NO POWER STEERING, NO ELECTRONICS NO NOTHING. I THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE UNTIL I TALKED TO SOMEONE ELSE WITH THE SAME CAR AND IT HAPPENED TO THEM 3 TIMES. MY WIFE IS SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR NOW AND WE HAVE 3 SMALL CHILDREN AND DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).' *PM

THE VEHICLE HAD NO POWER AT A STOPLIGHT. IT WAS LIKE THE VEHICLE HAD COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN, BUT THE POWER DISPLAY WAS STILL ON. I WAS UNABLE TO GO FORWARD AND THE CAR. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE COMPLETELY AND AFTER ABOUT 30 SECS OR SO, RESTARTED THE CAR AND THEN I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN POWER. NO WARNING LIGHTS OR INDICATORS CAME ON. THEN A BURNT SMELL STARTED COMING FROM THE CAR.

WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY WITH A SPEED LIMIT OF 70 MPH, A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THAT THE BATTERY WAS CONDITIONING. I WAS THEN LIMITED TO 45 MPH WITH VERY LITTLE ACCELERATION, AND THE A/C STOPPED WORKING. THIS WAS REPAIRED, BUT HAPPENED AGAIN THREE WEEKS LATER WHEN ABOUT TO MERGE ONTO ANOTHER HIGHWAY WITH A 55 MPH SPEED LIMIT.

I TOOK MY VAN IN FOR RECALL AND WAS FIXED ON 7/16/18 FOR CRUISE CONTROL PROBLEM. EVERYDAY SINCE THE FAN COMES ON WHILE PARKED IN THE GARAGE AND CHARGING (LEVEL 2) AT A VERY HIGH NOISE LEVEL. ROLLER COASTER TYPE NOISE. YOU CAN HEAR IT ALL OVER THE HOUSE. CAR SOUNDS LIKE IT IS GOING TO EXPLODE. NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE THE RECALL FIX FOR CRUISE CONTROL. VIDEOS OF SAME TYPE OF PROBLEM ARE ON THE FACEBOOK GROUP FOR THIS CAR. SEARCH FOR "CHRYSLER PACIFICA PLUG-IN HYBRID". I ALSO VIDEOTAPED THE CAR MAKING THE NOISE BUT WON'T BE ABLE TO UPLOAD SUCH A LARGE FILE.

I WAS PASSING A SLOW MOVING MOTOR HOME ON STATE ROAD 19 OCALA NATIONAL FOREST . IN THE MIDDLE OF MY PASS THE ENGINE CUT OFF. I HAD ENOUGH SPEED TO FINISH MY PASS SAFELY AND PULL TO THE SIDE OF ROAD. ALL THE PANEL LIGHTS WERE FLASHING AND THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. I CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE CHRYSLER AND AFTER FOUR HOURS THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST CHRYSLER DEALER. THE CAR HAS BEEN AT BECK PALATKA FLORIDA, CHRYSLER SINCE APRIL FIRST. THEY INFORMED AFTER FIVE DAYS THAT THEY WERE NOT EQUIPPED TO HANDLE REPAIRS BECAUSE OF THE NEW TECHNOLOGY ON THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE NOW BEEN INFORMED THAT I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR TOWING FROM DEALER IN PALATKA TO THE ST. AUGUSTINE DEALER. I FEEL CONCERN FOR MY SAFETY DRIVING THIS NEW CHRYSLER HYBRID IF IT CAN BE REPAIRED. WE COULD HAVE HAD LOSS OF LIFE HAD ANOTHER VEHICLE STRUCK OUR VEHICLE APPROACHING HEAD ON. I HAD NO ACCELERATION IN THE MIDDLE OF MY PASSING, AND WITH MY WIFE AND GRANDCHILDREN IN THE CAR, THIS SITUATION COULD HAVE BEEN TRAGIC. MY CASE NUMBER IS 33839387 AND I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT IT IS GOING TO BE TRANSFERRED TO ANOTHER PERSON! PLEASE ADVISE AS TO MY NEXT STEP IN THIS PROCESS.
