On [XXX], my vehicle produced a large red wrench and a turtle warning on a busy highway and I was forced to pull to the side with my [XXX] son in the car, as the vehicle lost motive power. It was towed to the dealer and after several days, they told me the issue was due to normal wear and tear in the transmission. I had to escalate to a service manager to even get a diagnosis after 5 days in the shop. I believe my transmission issue is due to a failure of the fix implemented in the 03A/NHTSA 23V-010 recall. It has been documented that the software update did not fix the issue. My vehicle experienced the exact series of failures described in the recall. Chrysler is refusing to fix my vehicle, even though they had extended the warranty on my Pacifica to unlimited miles/unlimited years because of all of the transmission issues the model has experienced. I would appreciate it if someone could look into this and Chrysler's unwillingness to stand behind their products and provide fixes for their recalls that work. The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact received a notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V536000 (Hybrid Propulsion System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. No warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where unknown repairs were completed at the contact's expense. No further information was provided. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
After refueling on a recent road trip the check engine light came on. After driving for a little bit to get to a hotel for the night white smoke started coming out the back of the car. To me the incident seems similar to the recall for other 2018 Chrysler Pacifica's, noted below, but did not apply to my VIN so wasn't completed for my car. The mpg's kept going down because I believe too much fuel was being fed to the engine resulting in the white smoke. When taken to the dealer there was a pending error code to the catalyst. It is currently at the Riser Chrysler Dealership in Hot Springs, AR awaiting further diagnostic and repair. NHTSA Campaign ID: 18V740000
When traveling at interstate speeds, the van suddenly went into limp mode going from 75 mph to less than 30 mph in seconds. It then told me I needed to get off the road and power down the vehicle or it would be done for me. I had to put in the flashers and take the van across 6 lanes of traffic. I had a letter from Chrysler from last summer stating was a possibility, but they just said to come in if it happened. There was no preventative measure offered. My van had to be towed to the dealer.
Pull into garage with <1% hybrid battery. Pressed the power button and the Pacifica threw an error about servicing the transmission and it would not disconnect the power to shut off the vehicle. Opened the hood and disconnected the 12v battery to complete remove electric from the system. The van completed a shutdown. Reconnected the 12v battery and closed the hood. Car returned to working conditions.
In March my van stalled as I was turning through a busy intersection with my child in the front seat. We narrowly avoided being t-boned. For a second the dash lit up with lights and then it said to shift to park to start vehicle but I couldn't shift. After finally getting it in neutral some good samaritans helped me push it out of the intersection and while I sat off to the side, after about 15 minutes of getting out and checking under the hood, the car started. We used our own code reader and it threw the PoA79 code. We brought it to Lewisville with an appointment, told them about the stall and they did the Z11 recall work for the fire risk with the battery but say there are no issues with the battery and no codes, but they have us ready for the recall work on Loss of Motive Power as soon as the recall work is available because loss of power is a known issue. They think my stall is related to the recall and needs a software update so hold off. Pick the van up after Easter. 3 months later it stalls again, this time with my child and husband on the freeway! After about 10 minutes of everything flashing, it starts again just as it did before, and the CEL clears. We call and are told that the Loss of Motive Power recall O3A process is now out for the 2018. We have never noticed an unexpected loss of charge. We were charging outside and far from our house, per the recall. No lobster popping up. Make an appointment for the O3A recall work and the van stalls on the way. This time it doesn't restart As I understand it, the transmission issue is that transmission case castings causes the high voltage wires to chafe and short out. We are told that we do not have a transmission or a battery issue, it is the On Board Charging Module has internal damage. They are unable to explain how a van that was at 95% charge and with a 12V that showed it wasn't depleted now has an internally damaged OBCM. And they don't know if that is the fundamental underlying problem with stalls.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - The dealer / manufacturer is unable to determine the root cause. The car shut down while I was driving on the highway. It does not start, meaning no engine turnover to operate / drive the vehicle. The only known issue was the recall for the electrical component failure. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - Yes, both myself and others on the highway were at great risk. As my car shut down, I lost control of the vehicle - no power steering or ability to use the accelerator. My vehicle slowed to 40mph in the right lane, while other vehicles including trucks were still traveling at high speeds and quickly approached my vehicle. They did not see the hazard lights until they were only 20 feet away. This was very close to a fatal accident. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - No. There is no solve to the issue. They claim, however, that they are replacing the *entire* transmission and think that this will fix the car. Yet, this seems to be an entirely separate, unrelated issue. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - Yes, I received an error message 1 day prior. See attachment photo of dashboard. I was instructed by the dealer to drive it into the dealership the very next day - the day the car shut down on the highway.
My Pacifica Hybrid van has been at a Chrysler dealership (Castle Rock in Colorado) for over six weeks now to have the Z11 recall addressed. It is clear that neither Chrysler nor their dealers know how to properly fix this (potentially lethal) issue with their vehicle batteries. Chrysler have failed to provide a loaner vehicle, even though it is stated in their recall letter that they would, and their "Customer Care" hotline have been unable to assist in any way. No one will call me back or otherwise inform me of next steps.
Our car’s battery ran out and left our car blocking both lanes of our traffic. We tried to shift into neutral but weren’t able to. We found an online tutorial about a panel that contains a string to pull which would enable us to shift to neutral. When we opened the panel, we found the string was missing. Upon further research, I found this was a problem with other cars as well. When we brought it in to be serviced, they couldn’t fix it. The owner’s manual has no instructions for how to get the car into neutral.
With Chrysler, recalls are never ending. Last year there was battery recall (Z11) that took 10 months to fix. Just after I got that fixed in Dec-2022, in Feb-2023, we have a new recall, where the vehicle is pretty much rendered useless as it can stop anytime on freeway. My friend who has the car had the vehicle suddenly lose traction and stop in freeway (this happened last week). Fortunately nothing happened as he was able to exit safely. Given it hit so close to home, I am scared to drive my Chrysler Pacifica car anymore. When i contact Chrysler for possible remedies like offering a rental assistance e.t.c they are adamant and refuse to help in anyway. I don't understand this ; I have brought a car in good faith and for no fault of mine , i need to spend on "rental car" now? In prior recalls, Chrysler did offer Rental assistance, but this time around they seem to refuse to entertain any such help. This is really a very precarious situation for me. My wife constantly uses this car to shuttle kids to/from school/activities and frequently needs to use it on freeway. I am really concerned for my family's safety and well being. I think this unfortunate stance by Chrysler is placing us in great danger. Pls help!!
I was driving with my family about 30mph and for no reason, the vehicle lost power and I coasted and braked to a stop on the side of the road. Nothing I did would bring any response from the vehicle while it was coasting. A short time later while stopped, I was able to turn the vehicle off and then was able to turn it back on. This happened about a year ago and I thought it was strange. It has not re-occurred. I did not seek out any resolution until I found out about the 03A recall (NHTSA 23V-010). That recall describes what happened to me. My vehicle is currently undergoing multiple attempts to perform the Z11 recall (NHTSA 22V-077) so I do not currently have access to my vehicle.
I have been contacted multiple times by dealerships and Chrysler that my vehicle needs the Z11 (NHTSA 22V-077) recall performed and that it is urgent for me and my family's safety. I have been trying to get the Z11 recall performed since February 2023. I have contacted 3 local dealerships to do the job but scheduling was difficult and there is no loaner cars available. The first dealer (Autonation CDJR of Katy Texas) who has done all my previous recalls just wanted me to bring the car in to sit for 3 days while not performing the recall. The second was inexperienced and unqualified. After a week delay, I took my car into the third dealer (Big Star Dodge in Webster Texas) on 3/13/2023, but after two days they told me they were having trouble with equipment and gave me the vehicle back on 3/15/2023. They rescheduled for 3/27/2023 and I took it in again. The first attempt to perform the recall procedure failed as a mistake was made. The recall procedure should take 2 days but it has been there for a week. The recall procedure was written poorly by Chrysler/FCA/Stellantis and confuses the technicians so the test is not performed as it should be and has to be repeated multiple times. The extra manipulation and time at the dealership increases the probability that my vehicle will be messed up or damaged. Chrysler/FCA/Stellantis bears the responsibility for the delays and poor performance of the recall causing the unnecessary loss of my vehicle's use and delays the recall performance, increasing my risk described by the recall. Performance of the recall has not been timely or done correctly yet.
I purchased the van with 153k on it and could here clunk on transmission engagement but purchased anyway thinking I could find parts a repair. Turned out no parts availble so I drove until it failed at 156k. When it failed the vehicle lost motive power and would roll away in park. I paid 9k for a new unit 9/30/21 and after 6 bmonths began to hear the same noise. I notified and dropped off vehical on 3 seperate occasions the last 12/30/22 and was told (normal operation) The transmission failed in exact same way on 2/2/23 with only 25k miles transmission and 182k on vehicle and currently problem is not resovled as the chrysler dealer I towed it to refused to repair under warrenty and Ihad to two to croton pouint auto park chrysler dealer where it currently is and problem is as of yet not resolved. Leading up to the failure the vehicle would roll in excess of 4 inches on inclines before park engaged (unless steep enough auto brake engaged) I have a feeling that this problem is widespread (chrysler has the transmission on restriction) and would like to know if other people are having this issue as it is quite dangerous seeing as the car could roll loose from park.
Pacifica Hybrid Limited found completely dead in our driveway and unresponsive to the remote. I manually unlocked the driver door, no usual dash indications, opened the hood and found the 12v battery system at 2.9v. It would not start & no responses or indications. There had been no warnings or indications of any problems prior to this. The car prevented my 6 A charger from charging the battery while it was connected to the car. I jump started the car with a known good battery, removed the jump, and allowed the engine to charge the car battery some. I decided to take no chances and replace the 12v battery. I turned the car to the OFF state via the dash push button. The car was never moved out of P park. I left it to go purchase a new 12v battery. I returned 2 hours later with a new battery to find the car in the street and having knocked over my neighbors 700-800 lb brick mail box. A police report was filed, pictures taken, and I jump started the car with the new battery. It started normally and I backed it up under its own power into my driveway where I replaced the 12v battery without incident. The car has operated normally with no warnings or indications of a problem before and since the incident. The car on its own and while OFF, unlocked the transmission park pawl allowing the car to roll 80 feet down a very mild slope and across the street to crash into my neighbor’s mail box when the 12v battery failed. There was no occupant, and no key fob was present. My quick search has found at least 3 other incidents with this same model, where the 12v battery failed and the car, on its own, unlocked the transmission allowing it to roll away. Of the 4 incidents I am aware of, 3 resulted in collisions and property damage. Chrysler is aware. The car and battery are available for inspect
I was driving on the highway when the check engine light came on and it started running rough. I pulled off the highway and into a parking lot. When I slowed down, I heard a clanging that sounded like metal on metal. After parking, smoke started pouring out from under the hood and it erupted in flames. The vehicle was destroyed.
2108 Hybrid Pacifica stalled a couple of times on freeway on our recent trip . Here are the details : About 2 hours after driving on freeway. - then, dashboard showed few errors and eventually showing "service charging system" - then displaying "shift to P to start" and "D" symbol is flashing. - after this, pacifica van lost power ( pushing accelerating do nothing ) but steering, brake seems OK and I had to steer the car to freeway shoulder and then turn off the car and start again after a few minutes and can start the car again but "engine check light" is on for at least 24 hours after. - After starting again, then a half a hour later, it happened again with same symptoms as above. The car has about 40,000 miles and running in gas mode only. These are very dangerous situation and luckily this time, I had time to steer the Pacifica to a complete stop.
While traveling at 75+ mph on a multi-lane highway the vehicle shut off displaying warnings "Shift to P to Start" "Service Charging System" "Sliding Door Open" "Forward Collision Warning Unavailable" and large red turtle icons. With the van shut off the only option available was to coast to side of the road/shoulder while trying to avoid other high speed vehicles and while the other vehicles attempted to dodge me. The vehicle has been at the dealer 5 times. Various codes are always available but they are unable to recreate the problem. The first visit the 12v battery was replaced. The most recent visit (the van is still at the dealer) the dealership and the manufacturer tore apart the van and checked parts for 5 weeks and could not identify anything wrong. I have pictures and lists of conditions, codes and problems. There is no warning when this happens, the vehicle merely chimes and lets the driver know that it's no longer on.
While driving the vehicle in rush hour traffic the engine slowed and would not accelerate when the gas pedal was applied. The light for the parking break went on along with the battery light. The vehicle appeared to be breaking on it’s own. A message was displayed though I do not recall what it was. Maybe a message to park? I attempted to switch to an outer lane and coast toward the side of the road until the vehicle stopped. I was partially blocking one of the two lanes in a no parking area. I turned the vehicle off and several times attempted to restart it. It would not initially shift into park. When it finally did I repeatedly attempted to start it. The display worked though the vehicle would not shift into drive, reverse, or neutral. The light for each gear flashed. I attempted for some time and at one point it did go into neutral. I attempted to restart and put it in drive then it would not go into neutral. I contacted the local Chrysler dealer who gave me the number for roadside assistance. I contacted the police to notify them as the vehicle was disabled in the road partially in a driving lane. I contacted Chrysler as this has happened previously. I have repeatedly had it serviced for similar problems with it unexpectedly turning off or not starting.
I was driving with the gas engine running when I lost power and then the engine shut off. I was able to get the engine restarted but it wouldn’t move forward or backwards under power.
We were on the return portion of a road trip, this was day 4 of driving. There had been no indications of any issues at all on days 1-3. While going 80 mph on i-80 in nebraska, in the left lane, the vehicle suddenly lost drive power (electric systems stayed on). My husband, who was driving, pressed the gas pedal to try and regain power. At that point the check engine light came on, followed by a red turtle image accompanied by the words "vehicle speed may be limited". My husband was able to coast us to the shoulder of the highway before the vehicle stopped moving completely. We had no warning at all that anything was wrong. I had just had the vehicle in for an oil change a few days prior to the trip and they did a basic inspection- all was fine. I am so thankful the road was not crowded and that no 18 wheelers were too close. This could have ended very differently and we were very scared. After waiting by the side of the highway for nearly an hour, we were towed to a nearby dealer. They diagnosed transmission failure.
The car 12v battery drains completely, rendering the vehicle immobile and completely non functional. There has been an electrical burning smell once the car is jump started and driving. I fear there is some kind of short or electrical discharge somewhere that could render the vehicle inoperable or start a fire at my home or while the car is being used. This vehicle has been at the dealer for 7 weeks and they have not found the problem. I have been told that the car has been connected to a computer system that is being "looked into" remotely by Chrysler. They have replaced the battery and the charging management system at my expense. The problems started when the car had 38000 miles and began with the "radio" which controls many other functions of the car constantly rebooting and having corrupted firmware which I was told cannot be fixed, only replaced. I have since been told this unit cannot be ordered at this time.
Picked up Vehicle from Bayside Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Annapolis after we were told the problems were addressed. After driving about 50 miles home parking than driving the Van again about 5 miles, In the center lane of the road driving about 45 mph the van said "Shift to P to start". The van wouldn't accelerate forcing my wife to drift to the shoulder of the road. The van was turned off and attempted to turn back on, but the Van would not turn completely on to drive. After about five minutes the van was able to be restarted and turned on. The check engine light came on, the van was driven to Auto zone to have the check engine light read. "Power Train System - P0BFD" & " Secondary DTC".
WE HAVE A 2018 PACIFICA LIMITED HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING, IT BEEPED, THEN MESSAGE APPEARED TO SAY "SHIFT TO P". THE VAN THEN LOST MOTIVE POWER SHORTLY AFTER. ONCE STOPPED, SHUT DOWN ENGINE THEN RESTARTED, IT WOULD DRIVE AGAIN. THIS ALSO OCCURRED A FEW TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY, I HAD TO QUICKLY GET TO EMERGENCY LANE/SHOULDER. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH CARS WHIPPING BY US WHILE WE STOPPED WITH VAN FULL OF KIDS. BUT IT ALWAYS RESTARTED BACK AND WE WERE ABLE TO KEEP GOING. ENGINE LIGHT WOULD STAY ON BUT THEN WOULD DISAPPEAR LATER. WE TOOK IT TO OUR DEALER (FRESNO CHRYSLER JEEP) AND THEY SAID "SOFTWARE ISSUE" AND THAT THEY WILL UPDATE IT. I DIDN'T GET TO TALK TO THE ADVISOR BUT LOOKING AT THE SERVICE BILL - UNCLEAR IF ANYTHING WAS DONE. THEY DROVE IT AROUND FOR 30 MIN AND ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME BACK ON. THE VEHICLE ALREADY HAS DONE ALL THE RECALLS PREVIOUSLY. WE TOOK IT HOME - SHORTLY AFTER THIS HAPPENED AGAIN. NOT SURE WHAT CONDITION TRIGGERS IT. MY WIFE WILL TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER TODAY AND WILL ASK THEM AT LEAST CHANGE THE 12V BATTERY (NOT SURE IF THAT IS THE REASON BUT PER FORUM DISCUSSION, THIS CAN BE A CULPRIT). THE PROBLEM IT SEEMS IS THAT DEALERS ARE IN THE DARK ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND MOST PROBABLY DONT HAVE CLUE HOW TO ADDRESS IT.

WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY, THE ENGINE STARTED LOSING POWER AND WOULD NOT REACT TO THE GAS PEDAL. IN ADDITION, THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT CHANGE WHEN I TRIED TO CHANGE IT FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL. THE CAR WOULD PURPOSELY BE SLOWED DOWN BY THE ENGINE AS IT WAS STUCK IN DRIVE POSITION. THE CREATED A DANGEROUS SITUATION AS IT WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL CAR TO MOVE IT INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE. AFTER PULLING OVER, SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE AND VENTS. I WAS THEN UNABLE TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE AS THE POWER BUTTON WOULD NOT REACT WHEN PRESSED. PER THE DEALERSHIP, THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WAS CLOGGED AND OVERHEATED SO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE OXYGEN SENSOR. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED IN A CAR THAT IS ONLY 1.5 YEARS OLD AND CREATED A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION ON THE FREEWAY.

ON AUGUST 7, WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A STATE HIGHWAY, AROUND 30 MPH, MY VAN SUDDENLY STOPPED AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN. I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES WHILE THE CAR MADE NOISES AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS AND OTHER DASHBOARD WARNINGS FLASHED. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO RESTART MY CAR TO MOVE IT TO A SAFE LOCATION. MY "MICROMECHANIC" ENGINE LIGHT READER GAVE ME CODES U0401 AND U0100, LOST COMMUNICATION WITH ECM/PCM AND INVALID DATA RECEIVED FROM ECM/PCM- AND SAID THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER ABOUT A WEEK, THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY REBOOTED THE COMPUTER AND TEST DROVE THE CAR ABOUT 15 MILES AND IT WAS WORKING AGAIN. THEY SAID IT WAS SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE AND HAD ME PICK IT UP. I HAD THE CAR BACK FOR 10 DAYS. ON AUGUST 22, I WAS ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE WORK. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY IN THE PARKING GARAGE. WHEN I STARTED MY CAR, THE SAME THING HAPPENED - IT BEGAN FLASHING AND BEEPING. I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF OR MOVE THE CAR. WHEN I PUSHED THE IGNITION BUTTON INSTEAD OF TURNING THE CAR OFF IT WOULD RE-CYCLE AND BEGIN BEEPING AGAIN. I RAN THE MICROMECHANIC AND IT GAVE ME THE SAME CODES U0100 AND U0401 DEALING WITH ECM AND PCM. I HAD TO STAY WITH THE CAR 2.5 HOURS TO WAIT FOR THE TOW TRUCK AND THE ENTIRE TIME IT BEEPED AND FLASHED - I WAS UNABLE TO TURN IT OFF. I HAD IT TOWED BACK TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP, WHERE IT STILL IS CURRENTLY. BOTH TIMES THIS OCCURRED THE CAR WAS NOT CHARGED ELECTRICALLY BUT HAD GASOLINE FUEL.

METALLIC BUZZING / VIBRATION DURING MODERATE ACCELERATION. OCCURS OCCASIONALLY AROUND 30 TO 35 MPH BUT ALSO AT HIGHER SPEEDS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES WHERE THE BELLY HEAT SHIELD WAS REPLACED, ROCKS WERE REMOVED FROM THE HEAT SHIELD, UNDERCARRIAGE WAS INSPECTED AND PARTS SECURED, AND MOST RECENTLY THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. ALL OF THE WORK HAS BEEN PERFORMED UNDER WARRANTY AS THE VEHICLE ONLY JUST PASSED 20,000 MILES. EVEN AFTER THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED THE BUZZING SOUND CONTINUES AS BEFORE RESULTING IN ANOTHER TRIP TO THE DEALER. THERE HAVE BEEN NO ISSUES WITH THE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE YET BUT I AM CONCERNED THAT THE BUZZING / VIBRATION IS INDICATIVE OF A FUTURE ISSUE THAT WOULD RENDER THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE.

THE MINIVAN BEGAN TO HAVE A MESSAGE ON THE DASH BOARD INDICATING THE DRIVER TO SHIFT TO P AND RESTART THE CAR WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. THE CAR PROCEEDED TO DECELERATE WITHOUT THE DRIVER PRESSING ON THE BRAKES. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES. ONCE, IT WAS WHILE THE CAR WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE DECELERATION BEGAN. THE DRIVER HAD TO PULL OFF TO THE OFF RAMP TO EXIT AND THE CAR STALLED. THE SECOND TIME THE CAR WAS STOPPED WHILE WAITING FOR A STOP LIGHT TO TURN GREEN AND IT WON'T RESTART. THE THIRD TIME HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR WAS ON THE HIGHWAY ABOUT TO GET OFF TO THE OFF RAMP AND THE STALLING BEGAN. CHRYSLER KEPT SAYING THAT THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED WHEN WE BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER BUT IT KEPT HAPPENING. ALSO, THE MAIN SCREEN KEEPS GOING BLANK FOR THE DVD PLAYER AND YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO UTILIZE THAT FUNCTION. WE WERE TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED WHEN WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER BUT IT CONTINUED AFTER EACH FIX. ALL OF THESE REPAIRS ARE ON CHRYSLER DATABASE.

SIMILAR FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE HERE FOR THE 2019 PACIFICA HYBRID LIMITED. BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN DEC. 2018. NOW ONLY 2,000 MILES ON IT, THE MINIVAN RATTLED ON STARTUP (WITH 60% CHARGED) AND COULD BARELY ACCELERATE WHEN I TRIED MERGING INTO A MAIN ROAD. THE VEHICLE PUT ITSELF INTO A LOW-SPEED MODE (AKA THE FAMOUS 'RED TURTLE MODE'), AND THEN WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE AT ALL! FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER INTO A PARKING LOT. UNABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE BY PUTTING INTO 'P' GEAR, HAD TO COMPLETELY TURN OFF, LOCK THE VEHICLE, THEN CAME BACK TO START THE VEHICLE TO RECOVER THE POWER. HOWEVER, THE ENGINE LIGHT STILL LEFT ON. AFTER VISITING THE DEALERSHIP, THEY DECIDED TO REPLACE THE HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY. IT TOOK MORE THAN 40 DAYS FOR THE WHOLE PROCESS. IT'S FAR FROM THE ENDING OF THIS TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE SINCE MULTIPLE FAULTS CAME AFTER PICKING UP THE VEHICLE. WITHIN ONE WEEK AFTER PICKING UP THE VEHICLE, WE EXPERIENCED ANOTHER ENGINE LIGHT ON AND ONE NEW WARNING LIGHT 'SERVICE HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE SYSTEM' (A RED ELECTRICAL WRENCH SYMBOL). BOTH LIGHTS ENDED UP WITH DISAPPEARING THEMSELVES AFTER DRIVING SOME DISTANCE. LASTLY, WE EXPERIENCED MORE THAN THREE TIMES ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS AUTOMATICALLY TURNED OFF THEN BACK ON WITHOUT ANY CLUE. THESE HAPPENED TWICE WHILE I WAS CRUISING ON THE HIGHWAY, AND ONCE HAPPENED IN THE PARKING LOT WHILE I WAS BACKING INTO THE PARKING LOT.

2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA LOST POWER DUE TO THE TORQUE CONVERTOR LOCKING UP I KNOW BECAUSE I HAVE THE FREEZE FRAME DATA IN A SNAP ON ZEUS USING THE 18.4 SOFTWARE. IT WAS MOVING AT 39 MILES AN HOUR WHEN THE TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP. CODE IN FREEZE FRAME IS P061B INTERNAL CONTROL MODULE TORQUE CALCULATION PERFORMANCE. THIS IS A GSA GOVERNMENT LEASE VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE HAS ONLY 6,617 MILES ON IT. IT IS IN A REPAIR SHOP IN EVERETT WASHINGTON THIS VEHICLE WILL BE IN THE SHOP FOR TWO MORE WEEKS. CHRYSLER HAS ENGINEERS COMING OUT TO LOOK AT THE FAILURE BECAUSE THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WENT WRONG. THE FAILURE TOOK PLACE AT 9PM ON MONDAY MARCH 18, 2019 ON A TWO LANE ROAD THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND PARK IT IN A INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP AND UBER HOME THAT NIGHT. WHEN I WENT OUT TO INVESTIGATE THE NEXT MORNING WAITING FOR THE TOW TRUCK TO SHOW UP I GOT DATA FROM THE VEHICLE AND A VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT. THAT BE ATTACH TO THE EMAIL. IF THE VEHICLE WAS ON THE FREEWAY THINGS WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORST. THE VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT WILL SAY 2017 PACIFICA I HAD TO LIE TO THE SCAN TOOL IN ORDER TO GET THE DATA OUT OF IT. THIS IS A 2018 FOR SURE IF THERE A RECALL FOR THIS CAN I GET CREDIT FOR JUST SAY VEHICLE FLEET MANAGER AT NORTHWEST FISHERIES SCIENCE CENTER DISCOVER A FAULT ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. VAN INITIALLY PARKED AND OFF. I PRESSED THE BRAKE AND THE START BUTTON TO TURN IT ON AND IT ENTERED INTO A CONFUSED UNKNOWN-GEAR-STATE (ALL TRANSMISSIONS LIGHTS P, D, R, ETC. ILLUMINATED). IN THIS STATE, THE VAN IS STUCK. NOTHING WORKS BECAUSE IT DOESN'T THINK IT IS IN PARK. SPECIFIC EXAMPLES: VAN CANNOT BE PUT INTO NEUTRAL OR PARK (TRANSMISSION KNOB/DIAL IS STUCK WHEN VAN IS IN THIS STATE), LIFT GATE CANNOT BE OPENED, POWER SLIDING DOORS MUST BE OPENED MANUALLY, VAN CANNOT BE TURNED OFF, VAN CANNOT BE DRIVEN OR MOVED. THE VAN IS EFFECTIVELY IMMOBILIZED AND CAN ONLY BE MOVED BY A A FLATBED TOW OR A TOW TRUCK WITH A SPECIAL DOLLY. BECAUSE THE VAN CANNOT BE TURNED OFF, ITS BATTERIES WILL EVENTUALLY DIE. I'M UNSURE IF THIS HAS ANY DELETERIOUS EFFECTS ON THE HYBRID BATTERY. THE PROBLEM IS HARD TO REPRODUCE AND INTERMITTENT. BECAUSE OF THAT, MY GUESS IS THAT IT IS A TIMING RELATED SOFTWARE/SYSTEMS BUG, BUT THAT IS ONLY MY GUESS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN ABOUT 7MONTHS OR SO OF OWNING THE VAN THAT THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED. THE FIRST TIME, WE WERE STRANDED HOURS AWAY FROM HOME ON A FAMILY ROAD TRIP. THE DEALER WE TOOK IT TO COULDN'T (OR DIDN'T TRY HARD?) TO FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE AND CLAIMED THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE BATTERY DIED (THE BATTERY DYING IS A RESULT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE, NOT THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM!). THEY PUT IN A NEW BATTERY AND SENT US ON OUR WAY. NOW, HERE WE ARE A FEW MONTHS LATER WITH THE ISSUE OCCURRING AGAIN. IT TAKES ONLY A LITTLE IMAGINATION TO THINK ABOUT ALL THE HORRIBLE THINGS THAT CAN HAPPEN WHEN A CAR LEAVES YOU STRANDED IN THE WRONG PLACE OR IN ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS. THIS ISN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN WITH A BRAND NEW CAR.

WHILE ON TRAFFIC 20-30 MILES JUST AFTER THE 34MILES BATTERY CHARGED RAN OUT AND WHEN THE CAR SWITCHED TO ENGINE MODE THE CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE I80 HIGHWAY. FOLLOWED ON SCREEN INSTRUCTION TO RE START THE ENGINE AND STARTED AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO AND RAN AT A SPEED BELOW 30MILES PER HOUR TO A CARPARK. AMBER ENGINE LIGHTED UP AND BURNING SMELL. I LEFT AND CHARGED IT IN THE CARPARK AND MANAGED TO GO HOME NORMALLY WHILE USING BATTERY CHARGE. WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND SAID THAT ITS AN ONGOING ISSUE AND THAT CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS BROKEN AND COULD TAKE A WHILE AS IT IS ON BACK ORDER. SO I AM ON RENTAL NOW BUT DON'T KNOW WHEN WILL THE CAR BE FIXED. *DT *TR

WITH JUST 200 MILES AND HAVING OWNED THE VEHICLE 3 WEEKS, VEHICLE LOST POWER ON FREEWAY AND MY WIFE COASTED OFF TO THE SIDE WITH CAR FULLY STALLING AND IGNITION LOCKING UP WITHIN 1/4 MILE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP BUT WORKED FINE NEXT DAY. 100 MILES LATER AND ABOUT 3 WEEKS ON DIFFERENT FREEWAY THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN AND VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO DEALERSHIP. THE CAR SEEMS TO STALL IN HYBRID OR GAS MODE. SERVICE STAFF CHANGED BATTERY AND TRIED VARIOUS THINGS BUT SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAD THE CAR STALL OUT AGAIN ON TEST DRIVE ON FREEWAY AND VAN WAS TOWED BACK. CHRYSLER SENT THEIR OWN SERVICE SPECIALIST AND AFTER MAIN COMPUTER WAS CHANGED AND CONTROLS SET, CAR WAS DRIVEN A COUPLE OF MILES ON CITY STREETS BY THE EXPERT BEFORE STALLING OUT. AFTER THREE MONTHS, AND LESS THAN 500 MILES, WE ARE ASKING FOR A REFUND AND THE CAR HAS YET TO BE FIXED. *TT

WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY WITH A SPEED LIMIT OF 70 MPH, A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THAT THE BATTERY WAS CONDITIONING. I WAS THEN LIMITED TO 45 MPH WITH VERY LITTLE ACCELERATION, AND THE A/C STOPPED WORKING. THIS WAS REPAIRED, BUT HAPPENED AGAIN THREE WEEKS LATER WHEN ABOUT TO MERGE ONTO ANOTHER HIGHWAY WITH A 55 MPH SPEED LIMIT.

I PURCHASED THE 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA HYBRID IN DECEMBER 2018. IN FEBRUARY 2018 AT ABOUT 3500 MILES, THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON AND THE ENGINE SOUNDED LOUD. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT A PIN WAS MISSING FROM THE EXHAUST CAMSHAFT PHASER. THE PIN WAS NOT INSTALLED WITH THE MANUFACTURE OF THE VEHICLE ACCORDING TO THE TECHNICIAN. THE EXHAUST CAMSHAFT WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH A CAMSHAFT PHASER, OIL CONTROL SOLENOID, AND CYLINDER HEAD COVER GASKET. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND WAS REPLACED AT ABOUT 6500 MILES IN JUNE 2018. THE VEHICLE IS NOW IN THE REPAIR SHOP AWAITING DIAGNOSIS OF ANOTHER ISSUE. I AM NOT AN EXPERT IN ENGINES. I AM CONCERNED THAT MY VEHICLE MAY NOT BE THE ONLY VEHICLE MANUFACTURED WITHOUT THE CAMSHAFT PIN. AGAIN, I AM NOT AN EXPERT, BUT I AM CONCERNED THAT THE MISSING PIN MAY RESULT IN INOPPORTUNE ENGINE FAILURE THAT COULD RESULT IN ENDANGERMENT OF OCCUPANTS OF ANY FAULTILY MANUFACTURED VEHICLES.
