UPON INSPECTION FOR NOISE RELATED TO THE FRONT STRUTS, I NOTICE THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE, LEADING EDGE WAS RUSTED ALMOST COMPLETELY AWAY. I PARKED THE VEHICLE AND LOOKED ON "HTTPS://VINRCL.SAFERCAR.GOV/VIN/VINLOOKUP" WEBSITE AND ENTERED THE VIN ([XXX]), BUT DIDN'T FIND A RECALL NOTICE. I HAVE HAD NO FEWER THAN 4 INDIVIDUALS WHO PREVIOUSLY OWNED A 1994 PACIFICA TELL ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL AND THAT THE DEALER FIXED THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE CRADLE WITH A NEW ONE. CAN ANYONE HELP ME? I AM HESITANT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN ITS CURRENT CONDITION AND HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY 2 MECHANICS NOT TO. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED IN 2008 AND DROVE IT FOR ALMOST 5 YEARS, BUT IT'S BEEN PARKED SINCE 2013. LOOKING FOR ADVICE ON PRESERVING MY $13,000 INVESTMENT. NBC NEWS REPORTED THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH AT LEAST 7000 PACIFICA MODELS. THE CAR HAS BARELY 105K MILES AND IS IN OTHERWISE EXCELLENT CONDITION. VIN# IS [XXX]. I WAS JUST ADVISED TODAY BY THREE DIFFERENT AUTO SHOPS THAT I HAVE A RUSTED ENGINE CRADLE/SUSPENSION. I WAS SHOCKED TO FIND THIS OUT AND THEN AFTER DOING RESEARCH FOUND THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. I CALLED CHRYSLER TO VALIDATE A RECALL AND/OR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT HAD BEEN POSTED COVERING UP TO 10 YEARS 150K MILES. UPON INSPECTION BY MULTIPLE CERTIFIED MECHANICS THEY NOTIFIED ME THAT CHRYSLER ISSUED A RECALL FOR ENGINE CRADLE FAILURE DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST. TSB # 13-001-12. FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON CHRYSLER HAS DECLARED THE PROBLEM ONLY EXIST FOR CERTAIN MONTHS IN 2004 HOWEVER MY CAR WAS BUILT IN LATE 2003 AND HAS THE SAME RUSTED AND FAILING PARTS. SO MY COMPLAINT IS HOW CAN A CAR MAKER SAY THE FAULTY PARTS CONDITION NOT EXIST BEFORE THEY FOUND IT? ALSO, HOW THE RECALL WINDOW IS LIMITED TO SUCH A SMALL WINDOW OF TIME WHEN THE PROBLEMS EXIST LONG BEFORE THEY RESPONDED? THIS MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE TO ME. I TOOK MY CAR TO MY MECHANIC FOR REQUIRED ANNUAL STATE SAFETY INSPECTION, WHICH IT FAILED BECAUSE THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTED THROUGH WITH HOLES, AND THE ENGINE MOUNTING LOOSE. THERE HAD BEEN NO EVIDENCE OF THIS AT HIS PREVIOUS SERVICING OF THE CAR, WHICH IS DONE REGULARLY. I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND MANY POSTINGS OF OTHER PACIFICA OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUES, AND A COPY OF A LETTER FROM CHRYSLER TO SOME ORIGINAL OWNERS REGARDING AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE REPAIRS. MANY PEOPLE STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT GET CHRYSLER TO COMPLY WITH THEIR REQUESTS FOR REIMBURSEMENT DUE TO THE SPECIFIC MANUFACTURING TIME LIMITATIONS OUTLINED IN THAT WARRANTY (26). I CALLED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD BY REPRESENTATIVE [XXX] THAT MY CAR WOULD BE COVERED, EVEN THOUGH MY CAR WAS NOT MANUFACTURED BETWEEN THOSE SPECIFIED DATES, AND TO TAKE MY CAR TO A CHRYSLER DEALER SO THAT I WOULDN'T HAVE TO WAIT FOR REIMBURSEMENT, AND THAT IF THEY HAD A PROBLEM THEY COULD CALL CHRYSLER. I DID SO. THE DEALER CALLED CHRYSLER, AND WAS TOLD THAT CHRYSLER WOULD NOT HONOR THE ORIGINAL DETERMINATION TO COVER MY CAR. I CALLED CHRYSLER A SECOND TIME, AND WAS TOLD BY [XXX] THAT A SUPERVISOR HAD DECIDED THAT [XXX] HAD BEEN WRONG IN TELLING ME THEY WOULD COVER MY CAR'S REPAIRS, AND THAT THIS DECISION WAS FINAL. I WAS NOT PERMITTED TO SPEAK WITH ANY SUPERVISOR, AND [XXX] REFUSED TO GIVE ME HER LAST NAME. SHE ADMITTED THAT MY CASE FILE (NUMBER 24783867) SHOWED THAT I HAD BEEN TOLD MY CAR WOULD BE COVERED, AND THAT THE CALL HAD BEEN RECORDED. I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THE REPAIRS WOULD HAVE TO BE MADE AT MY OWN EXPENSE, FOR WHICH I HAVE BEEN QUOTED AN APPROX. AMOUNT OF $2100.00. CHRYSLER DOES NOT INTEND ANY RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE. MY CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, AND WILL NOT PASS STATE SAFETY INSPECTION, UNLESS THE REQUIRED REPAIRS ARE MADE. CHRYSLER SHOULD BE MADE TO MAKE AMENDS FOR THEIR UNSAFE PRODUCT. AT ANYTIME THE FRAME MAY COMPLETELY SNAP CAUSING THE ENGINE TO COLLAPSE AND OR LOSE COMPLETE CONTROL OF VEHICLE IF AN INCIDENT OCCURS WHILE DRIVING. I PURSUED THIS PROBLEM ON LINE AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A RECOGNIZED PROBLEM WITH 2004 PACIFICA'S AND THAT CHRYSLER HAS OFFERED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO MANUFACTURES DEFECT. HOWEVER THERE IS ONLY A ONE MONTH PERIOD (IN-SERVICE DATE) THAT APPLIES TO THE WARRANTY. DEALER CONTACTS ME TO HAVE ME SEE THE CAR WHILE ON A LIFT SO THAT I MAY VIEW THE EXTENSIVE ROT OF THE ENGINE CRADLE. THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE IS TOTALLY FINE AS FAR AS RUST EXCEPT THE CRADLE THAT IS FULL OF HOLES. COST TO FIX $2400. CONTACTED REPRESENTATIVE AT CHRYSLER - TWO REPRESENTATIVES STATED THAT ALTHOUGH THERE WAS A BULLETIN SENT OUT TO EXTEND WARRANTIES ON SOME 2003 AND 2004 PACIFICAS, MINE IS NOT ONE OF THOSE INCLUDED AND SINCE IT WAS AN EXTENSION OF WARRANTY UP TO 10 YEARS, IT WOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED UNDER THAT EXTENSION ANYWAY. ON A SERVICE DATE I WAS NOTIFIED THAT MY ENGINE CRADLE FRAME HAD DETERIORATED SO BAD THAT FAILURE FROM THE FRAME WAS IMMINENT. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT RUST WAS UNUSUAL FOR SUCH A EARLY MODEL VEHICLE. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH THAT THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL ON 2004-05 CHRYSLER PACIFICA FOR ENGINE CRADLE FAILURE. I WENT TO MY NEAREST CHRYSLER DEALER AND WAS TOLD MY CAR VIN NUMBER DIDN'T SHOW ANY RECALLS. I LATER CONTACTED CHRYSLER'S HEADQUARTERS AND WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE DIDN'T MATCH THE CRITERIA BECAUSE IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN MARCH OF 2003. I STATED BUT I PURCHASED A 2004 AND MY TITLE STATES 2004. THEY SIMPLY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THESE ENGINE CRADLES AND FOUND A WAY NOT TO REPAIR MINE. *TR

I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS 2004 PACIFICA. THE FRONT ENGINE CRADLE IS CORRODED SEVERELY WITH THE WELDED SEAM HAVING AREAS OF SEPARATION AS WELL AS RUST THROUGH HOLES IN SEVERAL AREAS. CHRYSLER HAD A RECALL FOR A NARROW BAND OF VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN FEB. 23, 2004 AND MARCH 31,2004. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED JAN. 12, 2004 BEFORE THE WINDOW OF THE RECALL. FAILURE OF THE CRADLE COULD RESULT IN THE ENGINE DROPPING FROM THE CAR CAUSING A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. IT APPEARS CHRYSLER RESPONDED WITH A TOKEN RECALL THAT DOES NOT ENCOMPASS ALL VEHICLES EFFECTED. I HAVE MADE THREE ATTEMPTS TO HAVE CHRYSLER CORRECT THIS PROBLEM, OR OFFER SOME PARTIAL COMPENSATION WITH NO SUCCESS. CHRYSLER TELLS ME THAT IT DOESN'T APPLY IN MY CASE SINCE THE BUILD DATE OF MY VEHICLE PRECEDES THE BUILD DATES COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I ONLY HAVE 85,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND THE SUBFRAME IS RUSTED THROUGH. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT EXTENDING THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BUILD DATE RANGE IS CALLED FOR. BEING IN THE DIESEL /AUTOMOTIVE FIELD FOR MORE THAN 25 YEARS I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS ROTTING FROM THE INSIDE OUT. I DO ALL MY OWN SERVICE WORK ON ALL MY VEHICLES AND I HAVE NEVER SEEN THE SUB-FRAME ON ANY VEHICLE CORRODE THE WAY THIS VEHICLE HAD. LARGE RUSTED OUT HOLES IN THE CROSS MEMBERS AND SUB-FRAME. LIKE EVERYONE ELSE WITH THIS ISSUE, I DID A BUNCH OF RESEARCH BOTH ON THE INTERNET AND TALKING WITH THE DEALER AND FOUND OUT THAT CHRYSLER DID ISSUE A TSB ON THIS PROBLEM. THE TSB ONLY COVERS VEHICLES IN THE NORTH REGION AND ONLY IN SALT LADEN STATES. BUT WHAT REALLY BURNS ME IS THE BUILD DATES CHRYSLER ONLY WILL COVER. CHRYSLER WILL ONLY COVER VEHICLES BUILT FROM APPROXIMATELY FEBRUARY TO MARCH 2004, AND IF YOUR CAR IS OUTSIDE THAT WINDOW, TOO BAD. IN MY OPINION MY CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, SO NOW I HAVE A CAR THAT DECORATES MY DRIVEWAY. CHRYSLER WILL NOT COVER ANYTHING BECAUSE OF WHEN MY CAR WAS BUILT AS COMPARED TO THE BUILD WINDOW. WHEN I SPOKE WITH CHRYSLER, THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY SUPPORT, AND THAT HAD I "REPORTED THE PROBLEM WHEN IT STARTED" THEY WOULD HAVE REPAIRED IT UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE HAD THE CAR REGULARLY SERVICED AT THE DEALER. AS A CONSUMER I HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING IF THE ENGINE SUBFRAME IS CORRODED. REPLACED PARTS INCLUDED: SWAY BAR LINKAGES, TIE ROD ENDS, AND STRUTS AND MOUNTS ALL OF WHICH NEEDED REPLACING. BUT THE NOISE WAS STILL THERE. THE MECHANIC THEN USED A TOOL HE CALLED "CHASSIS EARS" TO PINPOINT THE SOURCE OF THE NOISE. 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA SINCE 2007 MY PACIFICA HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM. THE DESIGN OF THE MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION MOUNTS ARE OF VERY POOR QUALITY, CAUSING REPEATED FAILURES. I'VE SEARCHED AROUND AND APPARENTLY ITS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. ITS SO COMMON THAT DEALERS HAVE HAD CONTINUOUS BACK ORDERS FOR THIS MODELS MOTOR MOUNTS FOR TWO YEARS NOW. I'VE REPLACED THE MOUNTS A FEW TIMES ONLY TO HAVE THEM FAIL AGAIN. A COMMON SYMPTOM, WHICH I HAVE, IS RANDOM SHIFTING WHILE DRIVING, LURCHING OF THE CAR, CLUNKING NOISED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, ALL WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 15 AND 60 MPH. THEY CAUSE OTHER FAILURES FROM DAMAGING ELECTRICAL LINES AND CONNECTORS TO CAUSING TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKS. THIS TIME THERE IS 2600 ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER AND THIS TIME THERE IS NOT A TIME FRAME TO HAVE IT FIXED. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY WILL NOT TALK TO ME BECAUSE I BOUGHT MY CAR USED IN 2006. THE WATER HOSE BECAME DISCONNECTED FROM THE RADIATOR ON MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA , AND THE REPAIR SHOP STATED MY MOTOR MOUNTS SHOULD BE REPLACE BECAUSE THE ENGINE IS NOT STATIONARY WHICH CAUSED THE PROBLEM. THERE IS ALSO KNOCKING AND POPPING NOISES WHEN I BREAK OR TURN CORNERS. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO HAVE THE REPAIRS DONE, BUT WE CAN'T FIND PARTS BECAUSE TOO MANY OTHER CHRYSLER OWNERS NEED TO COMPLETE THE SAME TYPE REPAIRS. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CORPORATION FOR POSSIBLE RECALL, BUT THE ITEMS OR NOT LISTED. I PURCHASE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE, BUT NOTHING THAT GOES WRONG WITH THE CAR IS COVERED. HELP! TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE CONTACT'S MECHANIC MONITORED THE LIGHT FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK. THE MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO RETRIEVE A SERVICE BULLETIN, AND THE CODE INDICATED THAT WHEN A CONSUMER PLACED 12 GALLONS OF FUEL OR LESS IN THE VEHICLE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE. THE CONTACT HAD TO PAY $70 TO HAVE THE ENGINE RESET. HE CONSULTED CHRYSLER INITIALLY FOR REIMBURSEMENT, BUT THEN FOR AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THE FEATURE CAUSED THE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. CHRYSLER RESPONDED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY DENIED HIS REQUEST FOR REIMBURSEMENT. HE INFORMED THE DEALER THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT MALFUNCTION BECAUSE, AS HE WAS INFORMED, THE VEHICLE WAS SUPPOSED TO PERFORM IN THAT MANNER. THEREFORE, THE WARRANTY WAS NOT AN ISSUE. OIL PAN PLUG BECAME STRIPPED VERY EASILY RESULTING IN NEED FOR OIL PAN REPLACEMENT. MECHANICS REPORTED OIL PAN UNUSUALLY THIN WHERE PLUG SCREWS IN RESULTING IN EASY STRIP. TO EMPHASIZE THIS MUST BE A FREQUENT OCCURRENCE, I WAS INFORMED THAT MY CAR IS NOW ON A WAITING LIST OF AT LEAST A MONTH BEFORE ONE WOULD BE AVAILABLE. I WAS FURTHER NOTIFIED THAT 156 ARE BACK ORDERED AND 96 ADDITIONAL ARE IN THE PIPELINE FOR THIS PARTICULAR PAN FOR THIS ENGINE. IF I HAD THE OTHER ENGINE AVAILABLE FOR THIS CAR, THERE WOULD BE IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT. AFTER HAVING NO PROBLEMS WITH THE 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA FOR NEARLY 2 YEARS, ALL OF A SUDDEN OVER THE LAST 2 WEEKS IT HAS BEGUN TO STALL AT INAPPROPRIATE TIMES. THE FIRST TIME I WAS SLOWING DOWN FOR A CAR IN FRONT OF ME IT JUST DIED. THE NEXT 2 TIMES IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE USING CRUISE CONTROL AT 70 MPH. THE NEXT TIME I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE WITHOUT CRUISE CONTROL. TODAY, IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS IDLING IN PARK, ENGINE FULLY WARMED UP. EACH TIME ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS WENT OUT, AND THE KEY WAS IN SWITCH BUT NOT ON. I WAS ABLE TO IMMEDIATELY RESTART THE VEHICLE BY TURNING IGNITION TO ON WITHOUT HAVING TO STOP AND WITHOUT HAVING TO SHIFT OUT OF DRIVE. AT FIRST, I THOUGHT MAYBE I WAS HITTING KEY WITH MY KNEE, I WAS A BIT TALL, BUT THIS LAST TIME, MY LEG WAS NOWHERE NEAR THE IGNITION. I LEASE A 2004 PACIFICA WITH APPROX 30,000 ON THE VEHICLE. SEVERAL WEEKS AGO WHILE DRIVING UP AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY I FELT A FRONT VIBRATION AND SUDDENLY HEARD A LOUD THUMP. I IMMEDIATELY EXITED MY CAR TO SEE IF I HAD A FLAT TIRE AND NOTICED THAT WHAT HAD MADE THE NOISE WAS FROM LOSING THE BOTTOM HALF OF MY FRONT BUMPER. I DROVE DIRECTLY TO MY DEALER WHEREBY THE FRONT WAS INSPECTED AND REFERRED TO THE DISTRICT PARTS MANAGER FOR CHRYSLER. I HAVE JUST RECEIVED WORD FROM CHRYSLER THAT THEY, NOR THE DEALER, WILL COVER THIS 'LOST PART' BECAUSE I NEVER RETRIEVED IT FROM THE INTERSTATE WHERE IT WAS LYING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND HAD ALREADY BEEN RUN OVER BY AT LEAST ONE OR TWO 18 WHEELER TRUCKS. I FURTHERED WHETHER CHRYSLER EXPECTED ME TO PICK UP THIS LARGE PIECE IN MY BUSINESS ATTIRE OR MORE IMPORTANTLY RISK MY LIFE IN DOING SO BECAUSE IF I HAD RETRIEVED THE PIECE FROM THE HIGHWAY THEN THEY WOULD CONSIDER IT UNDER WARRANTY. THEY ATTEMPTED TO FIX IT HOWEVER THEY DO NOT. I TOOK IT BACK A THIRD TIME THEY FINALLY FIXED THE OIL LEAK BUT THE RATTLING AND POPPING IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION IS STILL THERE. I HAVE SINCE TAKEN IT TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ASSISTED THAT THE TOP AND BOTTOM MOTOR MOUNTS WERE COMPLETELY BROKEN. I REPLACED THOSE AND THEY SEEM TO THINK THE POPPING IS POSSIBLY THE CONTROL ARM OR BUSHINGS. ONLY TWO DAYS AGO THE AIR PRESSURE SENSOR IN THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL BROKE AND I HAVE AN ENGINE LIGHT ON. ON OCT 20,2006 MY THIRD (EMISSION FAILURE) HAS HAPPENED TO MY CHRYSLER PACIFICA 2004 FWD MODEL (48,535 MILES). THIS MODEL HAD PROBLEMS IN THE PAST-MOST HAVE BEEN CORRECTED. THE FIRST WAS ENGINE STALLING, WHICH WAS REPAIRED WITH UPDATED SOFTWARE. THE NEXT WAS MY A/C CONTROL/HVAC UNIT WHICH WOULD NOT LIGHT, NOISE FROM BUSHINGS WAS REPLACED. FLICKERING OF DASH LIGHTS TIME TO TIME IS AN ISSUE-THE CURRENT MAJOR PROBLEM IS THAT IT WILL NOT PASS EMISSIONS ON THREE OCCASIONS IT HAS FAILED NEXT VISIT WILL BE TO THE DEALER ON OCT 30,2006- NYS INSPECTOR/MECHANIC HAS TOLD ME THAT THE PC IN ALBANY IN NYS MAY NOT READ ALL CODES ALL PLACES SHOW -OXYGEN SENSOR AND CAT SENSOR AS BEING DOWN AND NOT READY ON THE PRINT REPORT-THIRD MECHANIC THINKS IT IS UNDER WARRANTY WHICH SI SHOULD BE AND THAT IT MAY BE THE ECM OR BUS SECTION OF THE MODULE-THIS IS BASED ON A SCAN TEST AND A OBD2 SYSTEM. MY PACIFICA 2004 MODEL ENGINE JUST STALLED WHEN I TURNED INTO MY COMPANY'S PARKING LOT. THEN, I COULD NO LONGER STEER AND LOST CONTROL OF MY STEERING WHEEL. MY FRIENDS AT WORK DROVE RIGHT BEHIND ME AND JUST PASSED BY ALMOST HITTING ME LIKE A "SANDWICH." THEN, I CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WAS ENOUGH FUEL IN THE TANK; I SAW ABOUT 3/4 LEFT ON THE FUEL GAUGE. WHEN I DID RE-START THE ENGINE, AFTER 8 HOURS JUST TO GO HOME, I NOTICED THE FUEL GAUGE WAS STILL FULL. IT WAS VERY FUNNY AND STARTED TO DROP DOWN TO 3/4 AGAIN!! RIGHT AFTER THAT, I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL TO LET THE ENGINE WARM UP, AS I ALWAYS DO, MY ENGINE COULD NOT HOLD ITS RPM TO KEEP RUNNING AND KEPT STALLING AGAIN REPEATEDLY. HOW DID I GO HOME THAT NIGHT? I RE-STARTED THE ENGINE AND TRIED TO HOLD ON THE GAS PEDAL FOR ABOUT 50-65 SECONDS BY WATCHING THE CLOCK IN MY CAR, THEN I HEARD A CLICKING SOUND FROM INSIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, E.G. AIR-CONDITION WORKING, OR IDLE TIMING, OR SOMETHING. BUT, I STILL KEPT MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL UNTIL 100-110 SECONDS AND TOOK MY FOOT OF THE GAS PEDAL. THE ENGINE DID NOT STALL ANYMORE, SO, I LUCKILY COULD DRIVE HOME IN THE NIGHT. WHEN I ARRIVED AT HOME, I STOPPED THE ENGINE AND RE-STARTED AGAIN, MANY TIMES. THE ENGINE WAS PERFECTLY NORMAL AS I HAD BEEN DRIVING THEM FOR 2.5 YEARS, LIKE NOTHING EVER HAD HAPPENED. SO, I DID SOME INVESTIGATING AND VISITED SEVERAL CAR WEBSITES. SOME OF THEM SUGGESTED I FILE A COMPLAINT TO NHTSA FOR THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE OTHER PACIFICA OWNERS HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS. AND, I JUST DID BECAUSE THIS PROBLEM IS VERY DETRIMENTAL SERIOUS AND CAN EASILY CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGES TO LIFE AND PROPERTY OF ANYONE INSIDE THE VEHICLES. *JB

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLS WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE RESTARTS EACH TIME. THIS PROBLEM CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, WHILE IN REVERSE THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO COLLIDE WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WAS DAMAGE TO BOTH THE REAR END OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE AND THE FRONT END OF THE OTHER VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP IS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE A PROBLEM.

I WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 70 MPH AND THE CAR STALLED. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF ON TO THE SHOULDER WHERE THE CAR CAME TO A STOP. WARNING LIGHTS LIT UP ON THE DASHBOARD INCLUDING A MESSAGE TO SERVICE TIRES SOON. THE CAR WOULD NOT RE-START AT FIRST. AFTER 5 MINUTES, THE CAR RE-STARTED, BUT THEN STALLED AGAIN WHEN I ACCELERATED. THE CAR WAS THEN TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO ME WITHOUT ANYTHING BEING REPLACED.*JB

2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA STALLED WHEN I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN. I PUT IT IN PARK AND THEN STARTED IT BACK UP. DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THEY WOULD LOOK AT IT ON MONDAY, WHICH IS 4 DAYS AWAY. I KNOW THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM. I JUST HOPE THAT IT CAN GET FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. AFTER HAVING MY PACIFICA FOR 1.5 YEARS AND EXPERIENCING 19 PROBLEMS (54 DAYS IN THE SHOP!); 2-3 OF WHICH ARE RECURRING (I.E. THE ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON), EVEN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT MY DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THEY WOULD STAND BEHIND MY EFFORTS TO GET A VEHICLE REPLACEMENT! WE ARE COMPLETELY HAPPY WITH THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE AS THEY HAVE STOOD BEHIND THIS "LEMON" BETTER THAN THE MANUFACTURER APPEARS TO BE ABLE TO. AFTER TALKING WITH THE CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVE, MR. CRAIG KISHNER, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE "BEST" CHRYSLER COULD DO WAS TO REFUND MY EXTENDED WARRANTY PRICE. I PUSHED BACK AND MY BOYFRIEND ALSO CALLED TO ANNOUNCE OUR DISMAY AT THE MANNER IN WHICH WE ARE BEING TREATED AFTER BEING TREMENDOUSLY PATIENT FOR 1.5 YEARS TO SEE IF THIS "LEMON" COULD BE REPAIRED TO A REASONABLE LEVEL OF USABILITY. MR KISHNER THEN CAME BACK WITH THE ANSWER THAT CHRYSLER WOULD ONLY "STEP UP" FOR THE PREVIOUSLY LAUGHABLE ANSWER. WE HAD HOPED FOR A LAUDABLE ANSWER. I FIND IT DIFFICULT TO BELIEVE THAT A MANUFACTURER, WITH THE QUESTIONABLE TRACK RECORD OF CHRYSLER, WOULD WANT TO CREATE MORE ADVERSE PUBLICITY THAN THEY ALREADY HAVE CHALKED UP OVER THE COURSE OF THEIR EXISTENCE. NONETHELESS, WE WILL PURSUE THIS THROUGH THE COURTS AND UNDOUBTEDLY TELL ALL OF OUR FRIENDS AND BUSINESS COLLEAUGES OF THIS HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE. *AK

I PURCHASED MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR AGO. I CURRENTLY HAVE OVER 18,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, WHICH HAS BEEN PLAGUED WITH PROBLEMS. MY ENGINE LIGHT HAS STAYED ON ALMOST CONTINUOUSLY SINCE JULY 2004. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CAN'T SEEM TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM. THE EGR SENSOR FAILED ON A RECENT TRIP AND MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER AND MAKE LOUD NOISES THAT COULD BE HEARD BY OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. THE BALL JOINTS HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE AXLE SEALS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND NOW AN AXLE HAS TO THE REPLACED. EITHER MY VEHICLE IS THE ONLY LEMON IN THE ORCHARD OR CHRYSLER HAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE PACIFICA.*AK

PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE'S ENGINE STALLING.*MR THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE. BOTH TIMES THE VEHICLE PUT ON THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE BUT NO CODES WERE FOUND. THE CONSUMER ULTIMATELY TRADE THE VEHICLE IN FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE AND SUFFERED A HUGE FINANCIAL LOSS. THE CONSUMER LATER READ AN ARTICLE WHICH INDICATED THAT THE PACIFICA WAS BEING RECALL FOR A STALL PROBLEM. THE FIX WAS TO REPROGRAM THE PCM. THE CONSUMER FEELS THAT FINANCIAL REIMBURSEMENT SHOULD BE OFFERED TO OFFSET THE LOSS HE TOOK ON THE TRADE IN. *NM

CAR HAS DIED WHILE DRIVING ON THREE OCCASIONS. THE FIRST TWO WERE WHILE DRIVING 45 MILES PER HOUR AND CAR STALLED, ALL SYSTEMS DIED. THE THIRD OCCASION THE CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON HIGHWAY WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PASS A CAR. THE VEHICLE IS 6 MONTHS OLD AND HAS UNDER 8,000 MILES. DEALER HAS SAID PROBLEM WAS "FIXED" AFTER DOWNLOADING SOME NEW SOFTWARE BUT PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED. THIS COULD RESULT IN A TERRIBLE CRASH!*AK

WHILE DRIVE THE VEHICLE APPEARS TO SHUT OFF. I HAVE NO OTHER WAY TO DESCRIBE WHAT HAPPENS. IT IS LITERALLY AS THOUGH THE KEY WERE TURNED OFF (I.E. THE ENGINE STOPS, LOSS OF POWER STEER, LOSS OF POWER ASSIST BREAKING, LOSS OF ABS, NO INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS TO EVEN INDICATE THERE WAS PROBLEM). THE ONLY SYSTEMS THAT REMAIN ACTIVE ARE THE ONES THAT WOULD NORMALLY BE ON WHEN THE KEY WERE IN THE ACCESSORY POSITION. THE VEHICLE WILL IMMEDIATELY RESTART AFTER BEING SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL. THIS HAS OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES WITH NO CONSISTENCY. (I.E. 70 MPH ON AN INTERSTATE, 15 MPH IN A PARKING LOT, 45 ON A SECONDARY ROAD, 5 MPH BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY). *CB
