DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE WHEN THE CRUISE CUT OUT AND THE ENGINE SKIPPED. PULLED OVER TO CHECK ENGINE FLUIDS AND ALL WERE OK. NO ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS OR ANY OTHER INDICATION OF SOMETHING BEING WRONG. CONTINUED AT APPROX 70 MPH WHEN THERE SEEMED TO BE AN INTERNAL EXPLOSION WITHIN THE ENGINE CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STOP AND ALL FRONT AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. VEHICLE THEN CAUGHT FIRE AND WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ON FOUR OCCASIONS HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BROOKFIELD CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (1845 PIPESTONE RD, BENTON HARBOR, MI 49022), TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE OXYGEN SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE OXYGEN SENSOR WAS REPLACED SEVEN TIMES HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 149,000.

MOTOR MOUNTS HAVE SNAPPED AND BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES SINCE PURCHASE! BODY IS TOO HEAVY FOR THE FRAME. NOW LOUD THUDS AT BRAKING AND ACCELERATING. ALWAYS HAVE HAD A FUELING ISSUE. HAD FUEL PUMPS, SENDING UNITS, LINES, FUEL FILLER NOZZLE, EVERYTHING BUT THE TANK REPLACED. FUEL GAUGE DROPS TO EMPTY EVEN WITH FUEL, WHEN TRYING TO FUEL IT WILL NOT ALLOW IT PUMP WILL SHUT OFF. USUALLY STARTS TO DO THIS WHEN GAS MILEAGE IS UNDER 200 REMAINING. SO FRUSTRATING. YET CHRYSLER DENIES EVER HAVING HEARD OF THESE ISSUES! I SEE FORUMS WITH MY SAME COMPLAINT, YET IT'S A MYSTERY FOR CHRYSLER! THIS HAS ALL BEEN A CONTINUOUS PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR IN 2011.

BOUGHT MY 2004 PACIFICA FROM A DEALERSHIP USED ON JUNE 5 2017 AT THAT TIME I HAD THE OIL CHANGED AT THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY. NOTHING SAID ABOUT THE CRADLE ALMOST RUSTED OFF ON RIGHT SIDE. TOOK PACIFICA TO GET TIRES CAUSE I PLANNED A 1500 MILE TRIP IN A FEW DAYS AND WANTED GOOD TIRES. NEEDLESS TO SAY BESIDES $400 IN TIRES I HAD TO PUT $1800 INTO PARTS AND LABOR FOR STRUTS, TIE RODS, ARMS, BRAKE PADS, ROTORS AND VALVE STEMS. WAS SHOWN THE RUSTED CRADLE THAT WAS 3/4 RUSTED THROUGH AND TOLD IT SHOULD GET CHANGED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO TAKE ON MY TRIP. WHILE DRIVING WHEN GOING 25-35MPH WITH MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL IT CHUGS LIKE ITS NOT GETTING GAS AND HAVE ALSO NOTICED IT NOW WHEN GOING 55 AND TAKING MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL IT DOING THE SAME THING. THERE'S BEEN 4 OR SO TIMES THE FUEL INDICATOR HAS GONE DOWN TO EMPTY AND BACK UP AGAIN ONCE WHILE IDLING IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE AND ALMOST DIED TWICE. NEEDLESS TO SAY BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR AN OIL CHANGE OCTOBER 3, THEY CHANGED OIL AND DID AN INSPECTION- MY VEHICLE IS NO LONGER SAFE AND NEED TO TALK TO THE DEALER WHO SOLD ME THE VEHICLE. RIGHT SIDE OF CRADLE TOTALLY RUSTED OFF. SO WHY DID THEY EVEN SELL THE CAR WHEN THEY KNEW IT WAS UNSAFE OR EVEN SELL ME PART BECAUSE IT WAS UNSAFE? DEALERSHIPS AND TIRE DEALERSHIPS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF OLDER PEOPLE AND WOMEN! I WILL BE GOING INTO BOTH THESE PLACES AND NEEDLESS TO SAY STILL PAYING ON THE REPAIR WITH THEIR CREDIT CARD. I CANNOT DRIVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE AND PUT A FEW MORE THOUSAND DOLLARS INTO IT. I ALSO HAD A NEW BATTERY PUT IN CAUSE NOT EVEN A WEEK AFTER PURCHASING IT IT WOULDN'T START AND NEEDED AN INTERSTATE BATTERY! I CANNOT BELIEVE CHRYSLER IS BEING SO NEGLIGENT ABOUT PUTTING A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES. I'VE ONLY OWNED CHRYSLER, DODGE AND PLYMOUTH VEHICLES THE 44YEARS I BEEN DRIVING.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR INTAKE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER THE FAILURE RECURRED, INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS JUMP STARTED HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL. THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TCM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ENGINE LIGHT LOW AND HIGH TIRE PRESSURE STAYS ON BUT NOTHING SHOWS ON TESTER. FRONT END DOES A LOT OF POPPING, AND CLANKING WHILE DRIVING EVEN WHILE TURNING AND STOPPING.
THE COOLING SYSTEM FOR THE CAR DOES NOT WORK CORRECTLY. AFTER A STEADY IDLE OF ABOUT 5 MINUTES, THE CAR WILL BEGIN TO GET HOT AND THE FANS WILL KICK ON. TWO MINUTES LATER IT WILL DO IT AGAIN. THE SYSTEM IT SELF SEEMS OK, BUT THE FAN IS CONSTANTLY ON AND OFF. THE MOTOR GET S SO HOT THAT THE HOOD ON MY CAR IS STARTING TO TURN. NEXT IS THE AIRBAGS. THE AIRBAG LIGHT FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE IS ALWAYS ON INDICATING A FAILURE. THE BAG HAS NEVER BEEN DEPLOYED? NOW THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THE TOP END OF THE MOTOR. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS KEEPS COMING ON. KEEPS SAYING MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 4. EVERYTHING HAS BEEN REPLACED AND I STILL GET THIS CODE? MY VEHICLE GETS IT REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND MY MECHANIC SAID MY CAR SHOULD NOT HAVING THESE PROBLEMS.

WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND HEARD A LOAD BANG WHEN DRIVERS SIDE OF CAR DROPPED DOWN ONTO FRONT TIRE. CAR ABRUPTLY SWERVED INTO LANE WITH APPROACHING TRAFFIC. VEHICLE STOPPED AGAINST THE CURB AND ONCOMING TRAFFIC STOPPED IN TIME. WE TOWED VEHICLE TO A FRIENDS BUSINESS FOR INSPECTING AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THE ENGINE CRADLE HAD ROTTED OUT FROM RUST. WE CALLED LOCAL DEALER AND WAS ASKED FOR OUR V.I.N # AND WAS TOLD OUR CAR WAS NOT PART OF RECALL BECAUSE IT WAS NOT BUILT WITHIN A FEW WEEKS WINDOW. IN SEARCHING MORE INFORMATION ONLINE WE FOUND THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE ON THESE CARS. PLEASE ADVISE

MY WIFE WAS PARKED. WHEN SHE PUT THE CAR INTO DRIVE THE LEVER DID NOT STAY IN DRIVE. IT BOUNCED INTO REVERSE AND WHEN SHE STARTED TO GO FORWARD THE FORCE OF THE REVERSE CAUSED HER TO PUSH HARDER ON THE ACCELERATOR HITTING THE VEHICLE BEHIND HER AND ONE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. WE COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AGAIN NOR COULD THE DEALER WHILE IT WAS IN FOR BODY REPAIR. MY WIFE LOST CONFIDENCE IN THIS VEHICLE AND WE ENDED UP TRADING IT IN FOR A MAJOR LOSS IN $. WE LIKED THE VEHICLE AND ENDED UP BYING ANOTHER ONE AND NOTICED THAT THE SHIFTIER HAD A TOTALLY DIFFERENT SET UP. WE QUESTIONED CHRYSLER AT THE TIME AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. A COUPLE OF YEARS LATER WE MET SOMEONE WHO HAD THE SAME VEHICLE AS WE DID AT THE TIME, AND THEY HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM AS WE DID BUT THEIRS ENDED UP JAMMING AND WHEN THEY FORCED IT, IT BROKE THE PLASTIC SLIDING COVER. ONCE THAT HAPPENED THEY HAD NOT OTHER PROBLEMS WITH IT. THEY TRIED TO REPLACE THE COVER BUT NONE WERE AVAILABLE. THIS LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT CHRYSLER KNEW OF THE PROBLEM AND ELECTED TO IGNORE IT AS IT DID NOT DRAW NATIONAL ATTENTION I AM NOT SURE IT THIS IS TOO LATE FOR ANY CORRECTIVE ACTION OR NOT, BUT I THINK THEY SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO TASK FOR IGNORING IT.

HAD I BEEN GOING ANY FASTER WHEN THIS FAILED IT MAY HAVE CAUSED THE CAR TO SWERVE INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC. *TR

CHRYSLER HAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE SUB-FRAME CRADLE SUPPORTING THE ENGINE. IN NORTHERN AREAS THESE FRAMES ARE RUSTING THROUGH CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. CHRYSLER HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS /150K MILES, BUT ONLY APPLIED THIS TO A SMALL BAND OF VEHICLES PRODUCED BETWEEN FEB.23,2004 AND MARCH 31, 2004. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED JAN.12, 2004 AND HAS THE SAME SAFETY PROBLEM. I HAVE SENT SEVERAL LETTERS TO CHRYSLER REQUESTING THEY TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE RECEIVED NEGATIVE RESPONSES. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. IN MY LAST REQUEST TO CHRYSLER I ASKED THEM TO COMMIT TO ME THAT MY VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE ( I SENT MULTIPLE PICTURES). CHRYSLER RESPONDED 5/12/14 THAT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO CONSIDER THIS PROBLEM WARRANTY, BUT THEY DID NOT RESPOND TO THE SAFETY QUESTION. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT WILL DO NOTHING TO CORRECT IT. THE CRADLE INCORPORATES THE ENGINE MOUNTS, LOWER CONTROL ARMS, AND STEERING. AFTER REPLACING A BOTH MOTOR MOUNTS IN JULY OF 2012. THEY BROKE AGAIN IN NOVEMBER 2012!! THIS TIME IT WAS SO BAD THAT WHEN I TURNED THE CORNER THE ENGINE DIED AND WOULD NOT START BACK UP. EVENTUALLY AFTER TRYING TO TURN IT OVER SO MANY TIME THE BATTERY DIED. WE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE SHOP AFTER THE HOLIDAYS TO FIND OUT HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST TO FIX ($1200) AND EXACTLY WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. THE TECH INFORMED ME THAT BESIDES THE MOUNTS BEING BROKE, WHEN I TURNED THE CORNER THE ENGINE LIFTED AND CUT THRU ALL OF THE WIRES LEADING TO THE FAILURE OF THE CAR'S POWER CONTROL MODULE. THIS RESULTED IN A LOSS OF SPEEDOMETER, OTHER ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS, AND THE LOSS OF THREE IGNITION COILS. I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHY THEY KEEP MAKING "RUBBER" ENGINE MOUNTS IF THE[XXX] THINGS ARE USELESS IN THE FIRST PLACE? THERE HAS TO BE A REASON ALL THESE CARS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND IF I HAD KNOWN ABOUT THIS BEFORE I FINANCED THIS "POS", I WOULD NEVER HAVE PUT MY CHILDRENS LIVES IN DANGER.!! I HAD THE CAR FIXED AND EVERYTHING WAS GOING FINE UNTIL LAST NIGHT, ONCE AGAIN! I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND SOME STUPID PERSON SLAMMED ON HER BRAKES IN FRONT OF ME SO I HIT MINE AND WHEN I DID MY CAR LUNGED FORWARD AND I HEARD THE GOD AWFUL "POP" SOUND AGAIN!!! MY PACIFICA JUST STOPPED RUNNING WHILE I WAS ON A BUSY INTERSECTION IN MY CITY. I LOST ALL POWER BRAKES, STEERING, AND POWER. I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME. I DID MANAGE TO GET THE CAR INTO A PARKING LOT, (MY SON AND HIS FRIEND PUSHED IT FROM THE ROAD). THE PACIFICA WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ANYTHING, AND COULD NOT BE JUMP STARTED. MY HUSBAND PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY TO SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP, IT DID NOT. IT WAS TOWED TO AN ELECTRICAL SERVICE, THAT TOOK TWO DAYS TO LET ME KNOW THAT THEY COULD NOT HELP ME. IT THAN HAD TO BE TOWED TO A DEALER, WHICH ALSO TOOK TWO DAYS TO DIAGNOSE. IT CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE PCM. I FOUND THAT THE 2004 PACIFICA HAD A RECALL ON JUST THAT PROBLEM. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER, AND THEY ARE STATING THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THAT RECALL. NOT TO MENTION THAT I HAVE TOO MANY MILES FOR THE WARRANTY. ALSO THAT I AM THE SECOND OWNER, (I AM ACTUALLY THE FIRST OWNER, THE CAR WAS A PROGRAM VEHICLE THAT WAS DRIVEN BY AN EXECUTIVE OF CHRYSLER). I ASKED WHY MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED, BECAUSE THIS WAS THE ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE, SHE STATED THAT THERE WERE MORE COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME THING (VEHICLES WITH PCM REPLACEMENT, NOT ON THE RECALL) WITHIN THE LAST FEW MONTHS, AND IF ANYTHING TRANSPIRED, THAT THEY WOULD LET ME KNOW BY MAIL. THIS IS NOT A MAINTENANCE ISSUE, BUT A SAFETY ISSUE, THAT I HAD NO WARNING OR SIGNS OF BEFORE IT HAPPENED. I AM VERY CONCERNED OVER THIS. HOW MANY OWNERS NEED TO EXPERIENCE THIS OR EVEN BE SEVERELY INJURED BEFORE THIS PROBLEM IS RESOLVED? THE CASE MANAGER AT CHRYSLER THAN STATED THAT MY CASE WOULD BE CLOSED! I AM VERY UPSET WITH THIS WHOLE ISSUE. I STARTED DOING SOME RESEARCH ON WHAT THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE.I FOUND THAT A LOT OF OTHER OWNERS WERE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR MOTOR MOUNTS. I PUT MY CAR ON A LIFT TO INSPECT IT AND THERE WAS FLUID LEAKING FROM AROUND THE MOTOR MOUNTS. THE BUSHINGS WERE COMPLETELY BUSTED AND BROKEN. WHEN I TRIED TO GET NEW PARTS, THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND WERE ON BACKORDER INDEFINITELY. THEY SAY THAT I SHOULD JUST DRIVE IT UNTIL THEY GET PARTS. I HAVE FOUND OUT FROM JUST ABOUT EVERY OWNER OF A PACIFICA THAT THEY TOO HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THEIR MOTOR MOUNTS AS WELL, AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE.(AROUND $500) SOMETIMES TWICE. IN FEBRUARY OR MARCH OF 2009, THE VEHICLE HAD A TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK. THE DEALER REPLACED A SEAL AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STILL HAS THE WORK ORDER FOR THAT REPAIR. MY CAR WAS RECENTLY STATE INSPECTED AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT I NEEDED THE FRONT AND REAR MOTOR MOUNTS ON MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM, I READ COMPLAINTS FROM MANY OWNERS WHO HAD THE EXACT SAME FAILURES WITH THEIR PACIFICA'S DESPITE LOW MILEAGE (30,000 TO 40,000 MILES). THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE A SERIOUS DEFECT WITH THIS CAR BECAUSE THE MOTOR MOUNT IS ON BACKORDER WITH THE MAJORITY OF CHRYSLER DEALERS. A CHRYSLER PARTS DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEE AT REEDMAN'S DEALERSHIP IN LANGHORNE, PA. TOLD ME THE PART IS ON BACKORDER WITH NO AVAILABILITY DATE FORECASTED. THE EMPLOYEE TOLD ME THIS IS A SURE SIGN OF A SERIOUS PROBLEM WHEN THIS OCCURS. I HAVE A PROBLEM NOW BECAUSE I WON'T BE ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR WHEN THE STATE INSPECTION STICKER EXPIRES THE END OF APRIL. I HAVE READ THE SHORTAGE IS POSSIBLY SELF INFLICTED SO AS TO AVOID WARRANTY REPAIRS. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT IS TRUE BECAUSE BAD MOTOR MOUNTS COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT AND LIABILITY ISSUES. ON DEC 19, 2008 MY 2004 PACIFICA STARTED STALLING WHEN DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, IT DID THIS APPROXIMATELY (20) TIMES IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I WOULD PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND SOME TIMES IT WOULD START UP IMMEDIATELY AND SOMETIMES IT WOULD DELAY BY SEVERAL MINUTES. I DROVE THE CAR TO MY MECHANICS; WHICH WAS CLOSED, AND LEFT IT THERE, THE NEXT DAY IT WOULD NOT ACT UP FOR HIM AND HE RAN A DIAGNOSTIC THAT SHOWED HIM NOTHING. ALTHOUGH HE DID FIND A RECALL ON THE PCM NEEDING REPROGRAMMED FOR STALLING ISSUES. WE THEN TOOK IT TO SHUMAN CHRYSLER IN WALLED LAKE, MI. AND DROPPED IT OFF. THEY REPLACED THE SOLENOID AND CONFIRMED THAT THE REPROGRAMMING WAS DONE PRIOR TO THIS PROBLEM. COST WAS $237.50. ON CHRISTMAS EVE ON A BUSY ROAD THE CAR STALLED OUT AGAIN, AND TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS BEFORE IT KEPT RUNNING. HERE WE WERE SITTING IN A DEAD CAR, ON ONE OF THE MOST WIDELY KNOWN EVENINGS WITH DRUNKS ON THE ROAD. WE PROCEEDED TO OUR DESTINATION AND AT THE END OF THE EVENING WE HAD SOMEONE FOLLOW US HOME WITH MY ELDERLY MOTHER IN THEIR CAR. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON THE 26TH AND THEY REPLACED THE GROUND TO THE TRANSMISSION CASE FROM THE BATTERY. NO CHARGE THIS TIME. ON THE 27TH THE CAR STALLED AGAIN 3 TIMES ON US, WE GOT TO OUR DESTINATION AND DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY TO REBOOT THE COMPUTER AND IT WORKED UNTIL DEC 30TH, WHEN THE DEALERSHIP PICKED IT UP FROM THE LOCATION WHERE IT WOULD NOT START, RIGHT BEFORE THE TOW TRUCK STARTED LOADING IT; IT STARTED AND QUIT AGAIN. IT HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP EVER SINCE. TODAY JANUARY 7, 2009 THE DEALERSHIP CALLED AND WILL BE ORDERING A NEW PCM, AND A POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE. IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE MODULE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR NOT STARTING AND THE PCM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE STALLING OR THE SHORTING OUT. THE COST WILL BE $1200. I WILL CALL THEM TOMORROW AND ASK FOR THE PARTS TO BE SAVED. I AM NOT DONE WITH THIS. 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. I PURCHASED A PACIFICA ON 4/23/08, ON 4/25 I NOTICED THAT IT WAS NOT SHIFTING SMOOTHLY BUT REALLY WASN'T AFFECTING MY DRIVING. ON 7/7/08 WHILE DRIVING THE CAR STUTTERED WHILE TRYING TO SHIFT ONCE AGAIN AND THEN THREW ITSELF INTO A LOW GEAR. THIS CAUSED THE CAR TO JUMP FORWARD AND ALMOST HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT AFTER THAT. I DROPPED OFF THE CAR AT DODGE SERVICE ON 7/9 AND GOT THE CAR BACK 7/14. THE CAR DID THE SAME THING AGAIN 7/15 AND WAS DROPPED OFF THE SAME DAY, I PICKED UP THE CAR ON 7/22 AND BY 7/23 MIDDAY WAS BACK IN SERVICE AGAIN. I PICKED UP THE CAR ON 7/29 AND 7/30 THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE CAR WILL BE READY BY 8/4 TO PICK UP. THIS HAS ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS AND SEVERAL HOURS OF WORK MISSED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY AND WAS DRIVEN TO A DIFFERENT SERVICE DEALER, WHO REPLACED PARTS OF THE FUEL SYSTEM AND THE OXYGEN SENSOR. THE PROBLEMS PERSISTED. THERE WAS A NHTSA RECALL #06V432000, WHICH PERTAINS TO THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN.

THEY SAID IT HAPPENED BECAUSE OF A FENDER BENDER I WAS IN. THE FENDER BENDER OCCURRED TWO MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR AND I HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT TWO YEARS SINCE THAT EVENT WITHOUT PROBLEM. THE CONSEQUENCES OF A FAILURE OF THIS NATURE IS NOT VERY DIFFICULT TO FORSEE, AN INEXPERPERIENCED DRIVER PASSING A LINE OF CARS ON A TWO LANE ROAD, OR ,IN MY CASE, TWO DAYS PRIOR TO THE SUDDEN FAILURE, WE WERE DRIVING IN THE STEEP MONTAINS OF TENNESSEE, AND NORTH CAROLINA IN FAIRLY HEAVY , FAST MOVING TRAFFIC. THE AUTO WAS REPAIRED AT NO COST TO ME, HOWEVER I NO LONGER HAVE CONFIDENCE IN THE CAR, DUE TO THE COMPLEXITY OF THE REPAIR, AND THE CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGE THAT THE FAULITY DESIGN HAD ON THE AUTO BOTH PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, DURING THE FAILURE, BUT ALSO DUE TO THE COMPLEXITY OF THE REPAIR

WHILE TRAVELING WEST ON I-80, (THE OHIO TURNPIKE) MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA, LOST ALL POWER FROM THE POWER TRAIN. THIS HAPPENED SUDDENLY,WITH NO PRIOR INDICATIONS OF A PROBLEM, IN HEAVY TRUCK TRAFFIC, WHILE TRAVELLING AT 75 MPH. *AK IT REQUIRED OVER FOUR DAYS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE, AS THE TECHNICIAN DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD NO PRESSURE. THIS WAS CAUSED BY A BURNED-OUT ROUTER IN THE TRANSMISSION PUMP. I WAS WAS SHOWN THE REPLACEMENT PART AND NOTED THE INTERIOUR WAS MACHINED TO A INTIRERLY DIFFERENT CONFIGURATION. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE INITIAL PRODUCTION RUNS ALL HAD THIS DESIGN FAULT. THE TECH. THAT REPAIRED THE AUTO ,ALSO STATED THA THEY WERE INFORMED OF THIS AT THEIR TRAINING SCHOOLS. CHYRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THIS DEFECT..A VERY COSTLY RECALL, I'M SURE. THERE IS A CONTINUOUS POPPING NOISE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS FULLY TURNED EITHER TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT. DEALERSHIP REPLACED BOTH FRONT AXLES, AXLE CLIP, AND DID SOME MODIFICATION, BUT THE NOISE STILL PERSISTS. *AK

VIBRATION IN THE FRONT END WHEN TURNING, EITHER A LEFT U-TURN OR A RIGHT TURN AT A INTERSECTION OR SIMILAR 90 DEGREE TURN. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO COME FROM THE RIGHT SIDE (PASSENGER SIDE) OF THE VEHICLE. TOOK TO THE DEALER ON 2/13/04 AND THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO PINPOINT THE PROBLEM. *JB
