My engine in my car just shut down in the middle of driving. I was told it was a recall and was fixed yrs ago but it has happened 3 times since. Twice after getting gas and one time driving in the school parking lot. Lost all control of power steering and time of engine trouble. Car started back up and engine light came on and went back of and back on. Also smelt burning wires but couldn’t find anything

the drivers seat adjusted ITSELF all the way in the reclining position and will not move back. It is a safety hazard ..difficult to drive....we have not had it looked at yet...we just purchased the car a few weeks ago from a car dealer.

MY VEHICLES SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR A FEW MONTHS. I GOT THE VEHICLE SERVICED TWICE AND EACH TIME THE LIGHT WOULD NOT GO OFF. A NIGHT OR TWO AGO I WAS TRYING TO BACK MY VEHICLE AND IT WOULDN'T BACK I WAS ON A LEVELED SURFACE IN MY AUNT'S FRONT YARD. INSTEAD WHEN I WOULD PUT IT IN REVERSE IT WOULD CUT OFF EACH TIME. SO THANKFULLY I HAD ENOUGH ROOM IN FRONT OF ME TO PULL FORWARD. I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE ONLY PROBLEM BUT AS OF THIS MORNING I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD I WAS DRIVING ON LEVEL CONCRETE TURNING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. I THANK GOD THAT THERE WASN'T A CARECOMING UP BEHIND ME. SO NOW I'M DEALING WITH A CAR THAT CAN'T BACK OR DRIVE WITHOUT CUTTING OFF.

WITHIN LESS THAN 30 DAYS OF THE CONTACT OWNING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE JERKED AND THE TRANSMISSION SLOWLY SHIFTED IN AND OUT OF GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SENSORS COULD BE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER IT WAS PURCHASED FROM AND THE ALTERNATOR ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO BERGSTROM USED CAR SUPER CENTER OF APPLETON (2925 N VICTORY LN, APPLETON, WI 54913, (920) 749-3232) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRAME HAD EXTENSIVE RUST, HOLES, AND CORROSION THAT COULD AFFECT THE MOTOR, RENDERING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN UNKNOWN CODE WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA I PURCHASED FROM ORIGINAL OWNER WITH ONLY 63000 MILES. CAR WHILE DRIVING, CAR JUST ACCELERATES TO HIGH SPEED ON ITS OWN FOR NO REASON. HAVE TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL TO AVOID DEATH OR INJURY. TODAY WHILE DRIVING NORMALLY, ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON & WE ENDED UP STRANDED DUE TO WEIRD ELECTRICAL FAILURE WHERE WE CAN'T EVEN GET CAR OUT OF PARK. PASSENGER HEADLAMP HAS GONE OUT SEVERAL TIMES, NOW DRIVE FOG LAMP OUT. THERE APPEARS TO BE MANY MECHANICAL & ELECTRICAL FAILURES WITH THIS CAR. IT'S TRULY HORRIFYING HOW POORLY ENGINEERED AND DANGEROUS THESE CARS ARE & I'M FORCED TO DRIVE THIS WAGON WITH MY FAMILY AS WE CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE IT. GAS GAUGE FLUCTUATES TO EMPTY WITH LIGHT AND CHIME ANNOUNCING NO GAS, BUT THERE IS A THREE QUARTER TANK FULL OF GAS. THE ENGINE TURNS OFF AND STEERING LOCKS WITHOUT POWER. USED CAR PURCHASED YESTERDAY AND WE WERE STRANDED UNTIL WE FILLED THE TANK WITH THREE GALLONS THE CAR WAS IN MOTION THE FIRST TIME IT STALLED. THE SECOND TIME IT WAS IDLING AT A STOP LIGHT. THE THIRD TIME WAS IN A PARKING LOT. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF THAN BACK ON IT RESUMED . WE WERE HEADING IN A STRAIGHT DIRECTIONS.

IN ADDITION, THE RPMS RACED ABNORMALLY WITHOUT WARNING WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AT ANY RATE OF SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHO KEPT THE VEHICLE LONGER THAN TWO WEEKS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A SPECIFIC DIAGNOSIS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT IT MAY BE THE COMPUTER, A SENSOR(S), OR THE PCM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V432000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.

MY VEHICLE BEGAN STALLING WHILE BEING DRIVEN ON THE STREET AND HIGHWAYS, WHEN TURNING AND WHILE STOPPED FOR LIGHT CHANGES. HAD TO HAVE BATTERY "JUMPED" OR CHARGED SEVERAL TIMES. BATTERY HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE BECAUSE OF DISCHARGED FROM ALTERNATOR. HAD ALTERNATOR REPLACED. BATTERY CONTINUED TO DRAINED. VEHICLE RAN FOR ONE DAY AND COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE IN MOTION. AFTER JUMP STARTING THE BATTERY, VEHICLE RAN FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES. WAS TOLD BY SERVICE MECHANICS, BATTERY OR ALTERNATOR PROBLEMS EVEN AFTER HAVING THOSE PARTS REPLACED. FINALLY HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP THAT SPECIALIZED IN CHRYSLERS AND WAS SHOCK WHEN HE STATED IT WAS THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) WHICH I BELIEVED AND RESEARCHED WAS PART A RECALL FOR 2005 PACIFICAS IN 2006. TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS FIXED WHICH IS NOT THE PROBLEM OF THIS VEHICLE. THE PCM IS THE PROBLEM, AND THE DEALERSHIP IS NOT OWNING THIS. I DID NOT PURCHASE THE VEHICLE UNTIL 2010; SO I HONESTLY BELIEVED THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS NOT REPAIR BUT CLAIMED TO HAD BEEN. WHEN REFERENCING THE RECALL NOTIFICATION (WHICH I DID NOT RECEIVE PERSONALLY), THE FUEL PUMP PROBLEM WAS REPLACED FOR 2004 MODELS NOT 2005 MODELS. PCM PROBLEMS WERE THAT OF THE 2005 MODELS WHICH WAS NOT REPAIRED OR REPLACED FOR THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED APPROXIMATELY 7 TIMES NOW. I AM STILL PAYING INSURANCE FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE ME $1000 FOR REPAIR, THAT IS A LITTLE LESS THAT HALF OF WHAT THE VEHICLE IS WORTH.

THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENT ON MOVING MY SEATS FAILED YEARS AGO. I'VE HAD ELECTRICAL LIGHTS/ GLITCHES IN THE DASH SHOWING PROBLEMS WITH THE AIRBAG. THIS PAST WEEKEND, I TOOK MY 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN FOR REPAIRS TO THE ALTERNATOR AND WAS INFORMED THE CRADLE/FRAME SUSPENSION ON MY VEHICLE IS RUSTED THROUGH. THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT THIS FRAMING SHOULD NOT RUST THROUGH IF IT WAS COATED PROPERLY AND IF IT CONTINUES TO RUST THROUGH, THE ENGINE BLOCK WILL DROP OUT. I WAS QUOTED OVER $2,000 TO PURCHASE A USED PART AND TO COMPLETE THE REPAIRS.

I OWN A 2005 PACIFICA LIMITED, I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN 2009 FROM A CHRYSLER DEALER. I HAVE TAKEN THIS CAR BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHO SOLD ME THE CAR FOR SERVICING (OIL CHANGE, REPAIRS, ECT). NOT ONCE WAS I INFORMED (DURING THE PURCHASE OR ANY TIME DURING SERVICING THE PACIFICA) ABOUT THE ROTTING SUBFRAME. I HAVE ALL OF MY RECORDS SHOWING THE INSPECTION UNDERNEATH WITH NO MENTION OF THE ROTTING/RUSTED SUBFRAME. THIS CAR BELONGS TO MY WIFE AND SHE DRIVES OUR TWO KIDS IN THIS CAR (NOT ANYMORE). AFTER REVIEWING OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS I AM VERY UPSET AND FRUSTRATED WITH THIS WHOLE SITUATION. I HAVE HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR AND THE WHOLE TIME IT COULD HAVE BEEN FROM THE ROTTING/RUSTED SUBFRAME (THAT WAS NEVER MENTIONED). I HAVE PUT SOOOO MUCH MONEY INTO THE REPAIRS OF THIS CAR AND I FEEL LIKE MOST COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED, HAD I KNOWN ABOUT THE SUBFRAME.

IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED THE SPEED AS 70 MPH. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. PURCHASED THE CAR AUG, 2014. PREVIOUS OWNER ALSO HAD SAME ISSUES. HAS BEEN IN SHOP SEVERAL TIMES, UNABLE TO PINPOINT CAUSE/REMEDY SITUATION. SEAT CONTROLS DO NOT WORK, REMOTE KEYFOBS DO NOT WORK, INTERIOR LIGHTS, HEAD LAMPS, NO ELECTRICAL FUNCTION PRESENT UNLESS KEY IS IN IGNITION, IN THE "ON" POSITION. WHEN SHUTTING OFF THE CAR, ALL LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD LIGHT UP AND THE ONLY WAY TO SHUT THEM OFF IS TO PUSH ON AND THEN OFF THE HAZARD LIGHTS. THIS WILL CAUSE ALL ELECTRICAL TO GO OUT, INCLUDING THE HEAD LAMPS AND ALL INTERIOR LIGHTS. IF YOU DO NOT TURN THEM OFF BY USING THE HAZARD LIGHTS, IT WILL KILL THE BATTERY. WE HAVE REPLACED THE FUSES IN FOR THE SEATS SEVERAL TIMES. THEY WORK FOR A BIT AND THEN BLOW OUT AGAIN. THE MECHANICS HAVE GONE AS FAR AS TO REPLACE THE WIRING ASSEMBLY AND STILL NO REMEDY. I DON'T KNOW HOW THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTO ZONE WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SWITCH MALFUNCTIONED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING HOME, LATE EVENING, I REACHED TO TURN ON WINDSHIELD WASHER AND WHEN I DID THAT, THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT, RADIO AND A/C WENT DEAD, TAILLIGHTS WENT OUT. THE ONLY ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS STILL WORKING WERE DASHLIGHTS, DOORLOCKS, TURN SIGNALS, AND SECURITY SYSTEM. ENGINE AND POWER STEERING STILL WORKED. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS NOT MUCH TRAFFIC, OR IT COULD HAVE BEEN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. I MANAGED TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT AND PARKED TO ASSESS THINGS, BUT FOUND I COULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK BECAUSE OF INTERLOCK. CAR WAS TOWED TO MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE FAILURE - REPLACED THE BOX, BUT IT STILL HAS THE SAME SYMPTOMS. SO FAR, 12 DAYS IN THE SHOP, WITH NO SOLUTION IN SIGHT. I THINK SUCH A GENERAL SYSTEM FAILURE DOES PRESENT A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

THERE WAS A RECALL FROM CHRYSLER MADE FOR 2004-2005 PACIFICAS DEALING WITH THE ENGINE CRADLE. THEY ERODED AND RUSTED THROUGH. THOUSANDS UPON THOUSAND OF CARS WERE RECALLED. THEY THAN REVOKED IT FOR A 2 MONTH RECALL SPAN. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN DEADLY AND FATAL AND HAS AFFECTED THOUSANDS OF FAMILIES. CHRYSLER REFUSES TO FIX THE WARRANTY THAT WAS ORGANICALLY WROTE AND SENT OUT. THEY REFUSE TO FIX OR ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE PROBLEM EXIST AND IS DEADLY FOR THESE PEOPLE WHO DRIVE THE PACIFICA AS THEIR " FAMILY TRANSPORTATION". IN THE PAST MONTH MY 2005 PACIFICA HAS STALLED OUT, DIED, HAD ALL ROADERS, BREAKS AND CONTROL ARMS REPLACED. ALL NEW TIRES AND NOW I FIND OUT MY ENGINE CRADLE HAS RUSTED OUT TO WHERE'S ITS NOT DRIVABLE. NOW THE RADIO STOPPED WORKING, THE AIR WONT TURN ON IF BLINKERS ARE ALL, THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL BODY HAS CRAPPED OUT AND CHRYSLER REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEMS THEY SET THE ORIGINAL RECALL FOR. 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ENGINE AND HEADLIGHT PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED TWICE, WITHIN THE LAST 3 YEARS. BOTH TIMES, HE WAS MAKING A HARD TURN, WHEN THE ENGINE STOPPED. HE WA ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND RE-STARTED IT, WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC, WHO FOUND NOTHING WRONG, OTHER THAN THROTTLE BODY BUILD-UP, WHICH HE CLEANED. ALSO, THE HEADLIGHT WOULD INTERMITTENTLY GO OUT. THE BULB DID NOT SEEM TO FIT SECURELY IN THE HARNESS, WHICH CAUSED A SHORT AND EVENTUALLY THE BULB BLEW OUT. THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE MORE PROMINENT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE DRIVER'S SIDE BULB WAS LESS THAN AN IDEAL FIT, BUT THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH IT GOING OUT. THE BULB WAS REPLACED NUMEROUS TIMES, ALONG WITH THE WIRING HARNESS. *JB

I WAS DRIVING ALONG RETURNING FROM THE MARKET AND I WAS APPROACHING A REDLIGHT. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND ALL THE LIGHTS BEGIN TO FLICKER AND THE CAR STALLED. I STARTED THE CAR BACK UP AND THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS OR CLUSTER INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS BLACK. THE HEADLIGHTS STILL WORK, BUT NO BRAKE LIGHTS. THE CAR NEEDED AN ALTERNATOR, WATER PUMP AND SERPENTINE BELT. WHILE THEY WERE FIXING THIS PROBLEM I TOLD THEM TO INVESTIGATE THE RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONTEND. THEY FOUND THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTING AWAY. THE GARAGE SUGGESTED THAT I CONTACT CHRYSLER AS THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH PACIFICAS BUT IT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. I DID MY RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE EXTENDED WARRANTIES BEING OFFERED FOR THIS ISSUE. MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THIS CAR! I WILL START WITH THE PROBLEMS THAT DIDN'T ALMOST KILL MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN. THE ABS LIGHT WOULD STAY ON AND THE DEALER HAD NO RESOLUTION. THE CAR WOULD STALL WHILE TURNING. I REPLACED THE BATTERY FIVE TIMES IN FOUR YEARS. WHILE IDLING IN THE DRIVEWAY THE DRIVERS SEAT RECLINED BY ITSELF, WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE CONTROLS AND STARTED SMOKING! THE DEALER CLAIMS THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM! LASTLY, WHILE DRIVING MY SONS TO SCHOOL, THE CAR WAS HANDLING POORLY AND BECAUSE IT WAS DARK AND RAINING, INITIALLY I BELIEVED THAT IT WAS WET ROAD CONDITIONS. TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR, I WAS TRAVELING IN THE SLOW LANE AND MY SPEED WAS APPROX. 30 MPH. UPON APPROACHING THE TOP OF A SMALL HILL, THE STEERING BEGAN TO VIBRATE VIOLENTLY, AT THIS TIME I BELIEVED THAT THE CAR HAD A FLAT TIRE AND THAT WAS WHAT HAD CAUSED THE POOR HANDLING WHILE DRIVING. I IMMEDIATELY HIT THE BUTTON FOR MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND BEGAN TO TRY TO EASE INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND ATTEMPT TO STOP THE CAR. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE FUEL GAUGE WENT FROM HALF A TANK TO EMPTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCEPT FUEL. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE HEADLIGHTS WERE INOPERABLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND WIRING HARNESS CAUSED THE FAILURES. THE FUEL PUMP, HEADLIGHT BULB, AND THE WIRING HARNESS WERE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V066000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING: HEADLIGHTS) AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V432000 (POWERTRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM, PCM)). OUR 2005 PACIFICA TOURING AWD WAS PURCHASED NEW IN 2005, WE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL AT ABOUT 4000 MILES. WHEN DRIVING OUT OF TOWN THE CRUISE CONTROL SHUT OFF, THE INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL STILL HAD THE CRUISE LIGHT ON , BUT THE SET LIGHT WENT OFF. WE COULD NOT USE THE CRUISE CONTROL UNTIL WE PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN AROUND 16000 MILES. BOTH TIMES THE DEALER SAID THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM. AROUND 17, 500 MILES THE RADIO WOULD NOT DELAY AND STAYED ON AFTER THE IGNITION WAS TURNED TO OFF. *AK ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER THE MAP LIGHTS WOULD NOT WORK WHEN THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. IT WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER AND WE WERE TOLD THAT THE BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) WAS BAD AND IT WOULD BE REPLACED. THE PART WAS ORDERED AND INSTALLED. IN JANUARY OF 2007 MY WIFE (SEVEN MONTHS PREGNANT) AND MEMBERS OF HER FAMILY DROVE THE PACIFICA TO KANSAS FOR A FAMILY WEDDING. ON THE RETURN TRIP WHILE DRIVING THROUGH TEXAS AROUND 10:00PM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, BRAKE LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, RADIO, AIR CONDITIONER/HEATER ALL FAILED. THE ONLY WORKING INTERIOR/EXTERIOR LIGHTS WERE THE AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS. SHE CALLED ME AND I NOTIFIED THE DEALER, WHO TOLD ME TO HAVE HER BRING IT IN "WHEN SHE GETS BACK". THANKFULLY A FAMILY MEMBER IN THE CAR HAD A GPS ENABLED CELL PHONE WITH A SPEEDOMETER AND THEY MADE IT BACK WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE BCM WAS FOUND TO BE THE PROBLEM AND A NEW UNIT WAS ORDERED AND INSTALLED. IN MARCH OF 2007 THE MAP LIGHTS ONCE AGAIN STOPPED WORKING AND THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP YET AGAIN. ONCE AGAIN THE BCM WAS THE PROBLEM AND IT WAS REPLACED. WE NOTIFIED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY HAD THE DEALER TECHNICIAN CHECK THE WIRE SPLICING FOR THE INSTRUMENT PANEL THINKING THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING THAT WOULD CAUSE THE BCM FAILURES AND WE WERE TOLD THAT IT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. NEEDLESS TO SAY WE ARE WORRIED THAT THIS MAY START HAPPENING AGAIN.

THE FIRST TIME I WAS AT A CRAWL IN TRAFFIC, BUT AT AN INCLINE ONTO A BRIDGE. I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THEN PUT IT ON THE GAS PETAL TO ACCELERATE AND THE CAR DIED. LIGHTS AND DASH BOARD ARE LIT BUT CAR IS SHUT OFF. CAR RESTARTED WITH NO PROBLEM. SECOND TIME, I WAS PARKING IN A SPOT THAT WAS AGAIN AT AN INCLINE. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE SPECIFICALLY FOR ITS SAFETY STANDARDS, BUT IT DEFEATS THE PURPOSE TO BUY A "SAFER" CAR WHEN IT PUTS YOU IN A DANGEROUS AND POTENTIALLY DEADLY SITUATION WITHOUT WARNING WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT. I AM A REALTOR AND DRIVE CLIENTS AROUND ALL THE TIME - ENDANGERING THEM AS WELL AS MYSELF IS A HUGE LIABILITY I DON'T CARE TO TAKE, AS I'M SURE CHRYSLER DOES NOT EITHER. WHEN I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR, THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM & SAY IT DOES NOT GIVE AN ERROR CODE ON THEIR COMPUTER READOUT - THEREFORE ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXABLE UNTIL IT CAN BE REPRODUCED WHILE IN THEIR HANDS & HOOKED UP TO A MACHINE - HIGHLY UNLIKELY. 2005 PACIFICA TOURING WAS LEASED IN JULY 2005. SINCE THEN, THE UPGRADED INFINITY SOUND SYSTEM HAS REQUIRED REPAIR TWICE AND REGULARLY MAKES A LOUD POPPING SOUND. THE ABS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON SIGNALING A FAILURE IN THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM MARCH 2006. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR MARCH 30, 2006 TO REPAIR THE ABS SYSTEM AND ON MY WAY TO WORK, I NEEDED TO TURN LEFT, PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, AND THE CAR SUDDENLY SPED UP INSTEAD OF SLOWING DOWN. A FEW WEEKS PRIOR, WE SLOWED DOWN TO MAKE ANOTHER LEFT TURN AND THE VEHICLE STALLED AND SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. I HAD LEASED THE PACIFICA FOR 36 MONTHS, AND LAST WEEK WHEN THE ABS SYSTEM FAILED AND MY CAR SPED UP WHILE BRAKING, I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND DEMANDED THAT THEY GET ME OUT OF THAT VEHICLE. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND RESTARTED THE CAR. THE CAR WAS BROUGHT BACK TO THE DEALER OF ORIGIN TWICE AND WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY CONNECTED THE CARS COMPUTER TO A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE THAT INFORMS THE DEALER IF THE CAR HAS A PROBLEM, BUT BOTH TIMES THE DEALER COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. AT THIS POINT I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS ISSUE AS I EXPERIENCED A SITUATION THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS INJURY TO ME OR ANY OTHER MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR THAT I COULD HAVE COLLIDED WITH. OTHER VEHICLES IN FLEET HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. QUIT AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON THE INTERSTATE. THE COMPANY DID NOT KNOW THAT THE FATHER OF THE DRIVER WAS FILING A COMPLAINT. WHEN TRYING TO LOCK THE CAR WITH THE REMOTE IT WOULD NOT LOCK. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE DASH BOARD WAS LOCKED. AFTER ABOUT 20-30 MINUTES THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO RESET AND WORKED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER SUGGESTED THEY REPROGRAM THE VEHICLE AND THIS PROBLEM WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. *AK *NM

I BOUGHT A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFIC ON JULY 18, AND DROVE IT HOME FROM THE DEALER. THE NEXT DAY, WITH 17 MILES ON IT I DROVE IT TO WORK, A DISTANCE OF APPROXIMATELY 72 MILES. RETURNING HOME ON THE HIGHWAY, I SLOWED FROM 65 MPH (USING CRUISE CONTROL) TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ONTO THE TURNPIKE ENTRANCE. THE CAR OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR CUT OFF OR STALLED. I HAD DIFFICULTY CONTOLLLING IT TO A SAFE PLACE AS THE HIGHWAY I WAS EXITING FROM (HWY 82 FROM TAHLEQUAH TO 412) HAS NO SHOULDER. IIMMEDIATELY TRIED TO RESTART IT BUT IT WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING, NO CLICKS, NOISE, ANYTHING. I WALKED ABOUT 1/5 OF A MILE TO A CONVENIENCE STORE TO CALL SOMEONE. AFTER 15 MINUTES I RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE AND IT STARTED UP. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN. THE NEXT DAY (TODAY) THEY CALLED AND SAID THEY "HAD FOUND A LOOSE WIRE NEAR THE STARTER" THAT MUST HAVE CAUSED THE PROBLEM. THIS SOUNDS COMPLETELY WRONG TO ME. WHY WOULD THE CAR STALL AND CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING? I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE, BUT THE DEALER SAYS THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM.

? BATTERY LEAKING? I HAVE RED FLUID DRIPPING FROM UNDER MY FRONT RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR (LOOKING AT IT), UNDER WHERE THE BATTERY / BATTERY CASEING IS. IT WAS NOTICED, AS WE PULLED OUT OF THE GARAGE AND FOUND THE RED SPOTS UNDER THE FRONT WHERE THE CAR WAS PARKED. WE POPPED THE HOOD, THE SAME LOOKING RED FLUID IS ALL OVER THE BATTERY, AND LOOKS TO BE AROUUND THE CASING OF THE BATTERY AS WELL. NOT 100% SURE, BUT IS HAS RUINED OUR HOLIDAY, AS THE CAR NOW SITS UNTIL WE CAN GET THIS BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, YET AGAIN (5TH TIME ) IN 5 WEEKS TO BE REPAIRED. I AGAIN CALLED THE SALESMAN AND HE MADE ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO LOOK AT IT THE NEXT DAY, JULY 1, 2005. JULY 1, 2005 THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ADVISED THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND AN ERROR LOG ENTRY, THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM, THEY HAD ME DRIVE THE CAR IN AN ATTEMPT TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM AND THEREFORE THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO OTHER THAN TO DOCUMENT THE PROBLEM. MY HUSBAND AND I SELECTED THIS VEHICLE FOR SAFETY REASONS -- IT HAS A FIVE STAR CRASH WORTHINESS RATING, HOWEVER, NOW WE ARE EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT OUR AND OUR SMALL CHILDREN'S SAFETY. A NEW VEHICLE WITH AN UNPREDICTABLE STALLING PROBLEM GREATLY INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH RESULTING IN INJURIES AND/OR DEATH OF ITS OCCUPANTS. THIS HAS US VERY WORRIED!

DRIVING ALONG RURAL ROAD AT 35 TO 40 MPH, 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA STALLED GOING AROUND A BEND. CAR WAS MANEUVERED TO SIDE OF ROAD AND RESTARTED. CHRYSLER DEALER CLAIMS THEY CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM SINCE THE PROBLEM CANNOT BE REPRODUCED. 2004 PACIFICAS WERE RECALLED WITH SAME PROBLEM. SEVERAL COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED WTIH NHTSA WITH 2005 PACIFICAS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. CHRYSLER CORP. CLAIMS THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 MODEL EVEN THOUGH 2 COMPLAINTS HAVE FILED WITH NHTSA AND BOTH COMPLAINTANTS STATED THAT THEY HAD BEEN TO THEIR CHRYSLER DEALER FOR SERVICE.

VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN TO CHRYSLER DEALER SEVERAL TIMES DURING MAY FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (EMITION CONTROLL ISSUES) ON THE DAY OF THIS INCIDENT I HAD JUST PICKED IT UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP. IT HAD BEEN REPAIRED DUE TO IT LEAKING OIL. THE OIL LEAK WAS DUE TO THE TECHNICIAN ACCIDENTALLY TIGHTENING THE VALVE COVER DOWN ON A WIRE DURING ITS LAST TIME IN FOR REPAIRS. I HAD DRIVEN ABOUT TEN MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP WHEN I PULLED INTO A GAS STATION TO GET A DRINK. WHEN I EXITED THE GAS STATION MAYBE THREE MINUTES LATER I SAW MY CAR HAD FLAMES COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I WAS ABLE TO PUT IT OUT USING THE GAS STATIONS PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHER BUT THERE HAD BEEN DAMAGE DONE AS SEVERAL PARTS UNDER THE HOOD HAD MELTED. NO ONE WAS INJURED THANKFULLY BUT IF I HAD NOT STOPPED FOR A DRINK I WOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO PUT THE FIRE OUT. MILAGE WAS 5646 THE VEHICLE WAS NOT RUNNING WHILE PARKED AT THE GAS STATION. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE FIRE WAS DUE TO A BLOWER FAN MODULE SHORT CIRCIUTING.

BELOW, PLEASE FIND AN EXCERPT OF A COPY OF A LETTER SEND TO THE DEALER AND THE CEO: "5/31/2005 - TO: GENERAL MANAGER, LAKE WYLIE CHRYSLER, 800 GOLD HILL RD., FORT MILL, SC 29715 - RE: CHRYSLER PACIFICA ?LIMITED? 2005 WITH CURRENTLY ~ 6500 MILES - VIN # [XXX] DEAR MADAM OR SIR: I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR FOR WHICH I HAD VISITED YOU SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF LAKE WYLIE CHRYSLER AND FIND MYSELF WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THE MAIN CONCERN IS THAT THE CAR STALLED ON ME TWICE AND ONCE WHILE MY SON WAS DRIVING WHILE I WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THERE WAS NO PRECURSOR THAT WE CAN IDENTIFY, THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN. ALL THREE TIMES, IT HAPPENED WHEN DRIVING SLOW (10 ? 20 MPH) IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD STREET. ALL THREE TIMES AT THE SAME SPOT, WHICH IS A SHARP LEFT IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY A SHARP RIGHT. THE ENGINE STALLED JUST AT THE MID POINT GOING INTO THE RIGHT CURVE. POWER LOSS FOR STEERING AND BRAKES IS LIFE ENDANGERING, IF IT WERE TO HAPPEN AT HIGHER SPEEDS. EVEN IN THESE CIRCUMSTANCES, WITH OUR NEIGHBORS WALKING DOGS, THE LOSS OF THOSE SYSTEMS MAY TRIGGER A FATAL ACCIDENT! TWICE CHRYSLER CHECKED FOR ERROR CODES AND COULD FIND NONE. THE FIRST TIME THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE SAID THAT I SHOULD NEVER RUN THE TANK DOWN BELOW 1/4, SOMETHING I THINK IS NON-PERSUASIVE. ESPECIALLY AFTER THE THIRD TIME, THE TANK WAS FULL. I DO UNDERSTAND THE CHRYSLER DEALER?S PROBLEM, IN THAT THEY ONLY GO BY THE REPORTED (AND HERE SUPPOSEDLY MISSING) ERROR CODE. HOWEVER, I AM NOT DREAMING AND AS AN ENGINEER MYSELF AND HAVING STUDIES PHYSICS (IN GERMANY), I KNOW THAT YOU CAN ONLY REPORT WHAT YOU LOOK FOR. THIS PROBLEM MAY JUST EVADE THOSE SENSORS. IN ANY CASE, THIS PROBLEM IS SERIOUS AND NEEDS ATTENTION! ..." ...
