My engine in my car just shut down in the middle of driving. I was told it was a recall and was fixed yrs ago but it has happened 3 times since. Twice after getting gas and one time driving in the school parking lot. Lost all control of power steering and time of engine trouble. Car started back up and engine light came on and went back of and back on. Also smelt burning wires but couldn’t find anything

I HAVE HAD TWO PACIFICAS 2004 AND 2005 BOTH DID THE EXACT SAME THING. STARTED WITH AN ODOR OF EXHAUST OR FUMES OF SOME SORT IN THE SAME WEEK. IT LOST POWER, OVERHEATED, HAD TO PULLED HOME. WOULD START IF COLD FOR SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. IN LESS THAN THE SAME WEEK. WENT TO HAVE SOMEONE WORK ON IT AND THE BATTERY WAS DEAD WHERE I HAD TRIED TO START IT TO MANY TIMES/ MY FAULT. HOWEVER AS SOON AS IT GOT CONNECTION THE KEY WASNT EVEN IN THE SWITCH AND THE MOTOR WAS ROLLING OVER. THAT ONE SAT AT THAT TIME. FOUND 05 WITHIN A WEEK OR TWO AND FIGURED ONE FOR PARTS IF BREAK DOWN. NOTHING AT ALL WRONG STARTING OUT. ONLY DROVE THE 05 APPRX 3MONTHS AND STARTED THE EXACT SAME THING FROM ODOR TO OVERHEATING AND I DO NOT KNOW ALOT ABOUT VEHICLES BUT SEEMS TO HAVE JUMPED TIME. HOWEVER I AM A SINGLE WOMAN AND DO NOT CARRY A LICENSE MECHANIC AND IM NOW STRANDED WITH NO VEHICLE TO GET AROUND WHILE I HAVE TWO PACIFICAS SEEM SAME ISSUES JUST DROVE ONE A LITTLE LONGER. 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA TOURING HAS RUSTED ENGINE CRADLE. FOR SOME REASON THIS CAR IS NOT COVERED FOR THE RECALL BUT IT CLEARLY IS AFFECTED BY WHAT EVER THE MANUFACTURER FAILED TO COMPLETE ON CAR TO ENSURE IT WOULD REMAIN SAFE. I HAVE A BIG WHOLE AND MOTOR COULD FALL OUT. I NEED HELP ON TRYING TO GET EXPENSIVE ITEM PAID FOR. THE SUSPENSION IS HORRIBLE ALL ISSUES JUST NOT A GOOD CAR AT ALL.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN REVERSE, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A CHRYSLER DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 157,000.

I THEN HOOKED IT UP TO MY FOXWELL NT630 ELITE OBD2 SCANNER IT DETECTED CODES P0340, P2066, P0700, & P0461 CODE P0340 CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR A CIRCUIT BANK 1 OR SINGLE SENSOR (PART REPLACED). CODE P2066 FUEL LEVEL SENSOR B (PERFORMANCE). CODE P0700 TRANSMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED I HAD TO PULL OFF THE FREE WAY(NO ACCIDENT, THANKFULLY) THE BREAKS WERE HARD TO PUSH DOWN I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO LET IT ROLL THROUGH TRAFFIC I GOT TO A SAFE PLACE I PUT IT IN PARK WAITED ABOUT 30 MINUTES TO TRY STARTING IT, IT WOULD NOT START. SMOKE CAME OUT FROM BACK PASSENGER REAR TIRE. LET MY CAR SIT OVER NIGHT TRIED TO START IT THE NEXT MORNING, AGAIN IT WOULD NOT START. I HAD IT TOWED IT INTO SHOP THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM I HAD LEFT MY VEHICLE IN THE SHOP FOR A WEEK OTHER MECHANICS DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM. LATER THEY TOLD ME I NEED A WHOLE NEW ENGINE. I AM THE SOLE OWNER OF MY 2005 PACIFICA, BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW AND HAVE HAD IT SERVICED BY THE SAME CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP SINCE I BOUGHT IT. I BROUGHT IT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE ON FEB. 19, 2019 AND WAS INFORMED THE ENGINE CROSSMEMBER IS RUSTED OUT AND NEEDS REPLACEMENT ASAP. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NEVER MENTIONED THIS PREVIOUSLY, AND THEY HAVE CHANGED OIL EVERY 3-4 MONTHS FOR 14 YEARS. AFTER RECEIVING THE NEWS, I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND CHRYSLER (AS WELL AS THE DEALERSHIP) HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS FOR YEARS AND HAS NOT SAID ANYTHING. REPAIR COST IS ESTIMATED AT $3,000. I HAVE GARAGE KEPT THIS CAR SINCE I PURCHASED IT AND IT LOOKS IS IN GREAT CONDITION, BOTH INSIDE AND OUT, UNTIL YOU LOOK UNDER THE CAR.

DANGEROUS...MY 05 PACIFICA ENGINE MOUNT AND SUBFRAME ARE COMPLETELY RUSTED AND THE ENGINE IS ON THE VERGE OF DROPPING OUT POTENTIALLY CAUSING SERIOUS INJURIES OR DEATH. I FOUND THIS OUT DURING AN OIL CHANGE. NOW AS I DRIVE THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE MAKES KNOCKING NOISE. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX IT OR THE CREDIT TO GET A NEWER VEHICLE. MY ONLY CHOICE IS TO DRIVE IT UNTIL SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS, THEN MAYBE CHRYSLER WILL DO WHAT'S RIGHT AND SEND OUT A RECALL. PLEASE HELP ALL OF US COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE ENGINE MOUNTS BREAK AWAY FROM THE ENGINE, CAUSING A ROUGH VIBRATION ON THE FLOOR PAN OF THE VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM STARTED HAPPENING ON 10/31/05, 11/04/05, 10/26/06 TO PRESENT, I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY REPLACE THE ENGINE MOUNTS ON THIS VEHICLE AND I BELIEVE THE BREAKING OF THE MOUNTS AFFECTS THE SUSPENSION OF THE VEHICLE. THE BREAKING OF THE AXLE AND TIE RODS FROM THE PRESSURE OF THE ENGINE JERKING WITH THE MOUNTS BREAK. I'VE BOUGHT ENGINE MOUNTS WITH LIFETIME WARRANTIES BEING I HAVE TO REPLACE THESE MOUNTS SO OFTEN.

MY VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A CLUNK NOISE FROM THE ENGINE AREA AND STOPPED SHIFTING OUT OF SECOND GEAR. I TOOK VEHICLE IN TO A REPAIR SHOP FOR TRANSMISSION SERVICE AND WAS TOLD BY THE REPAIR SHOP THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE THE ENGINE CRADLE HAS CORROSION AND HAS RUSTED TO THE POINT THAT THE ENGINE IS ABOUT TO FALL OUT THE VEHICLE WHICH MOST LIKELY CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. THIS WAS DISCOVERED WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS BEING LIFTED ON THE HOIST. THE REPAIR SHOP SAID THEY ARE AFRAID TO KEEP THE VEHICLE ON THE HOIST BECAUSE SOMEONE COULD GET INJURED WHILE UNDERNEATH IT.

RYAN AUTO MALL IN BUFFALO, MINNESOTA DIAGNOSED THAT THE CROSS MEMBERS WITHIN THE ENGINE CRADLE WERE ROTTED AND RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. OF COURSE, THEY SHOWED ME THE CRADLE ROT ISSUE AFTER THE $334 OF WORK THEY'D DONE! I'D INQUIRED ABOUT A VIBRATION OR LOUD HUM SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF MY CAR ON MARCH 22, 2017 WHEN I HAD AN EARLIER OIL CHANGE. ON THE SERVICE ORDER, IT WAS NOTED AS "ENGINE PERFORMANCE CONCERN," BUT I SAID I THOUGHT IT WAS WITH THE ACCELERATION OR ROTATION OF THE TIRES THAT WAS MAKING THE SOUND. "THE TECHNICIAN SUPPOSEDLY CHECKED IT OUT AND SAID IT WAS FOUND TO BE OPERATING NORMALLY AT THIS TIME. THEY SAID IT WAS PROBABLY "TIRE NOISE." TODAY, I NOW UNDERSTAND WHY THE FRONT END OF MY CAR HAS BEEN LOUDER THAN WHAT I REMEMBERED IT. TODAY I JUST DISCOVERED THE ACTUAL ISSUE WITH MY CAR IS TYPICAL OF MANY 2005 PACIFICAS. I'M SURE I AM NOT THE FIRST 2005 PACIFICA OWNER THAT HAS HAD THEIR VEHICLE SERVICED AT THEIR FACILITY, AND THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS PARTICULAR YEAR OF PACIFICAS. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR A SIGNIFICANT EXTENT OF TIME; I'M QUITE DISTURBED THAT THE DEALER'S NEGLIGENCE IN NOT INFORMING ME OF THIS PROBLEM MUCH EARLIER CAN OR COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY TO MYSELF AS WELL AS OTHER DRIVERS. I'M SURE I AM NOT THE FIRST 2005 PACIFICA OWNER THAT HAS HAD THEIR VEHICLE SERVICED AT THEIR FACILITY, AND THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS PARTICULAR YEAR OF PACIFICAS. I STILL SEE SEVERAL 2005 PACIFICAS DRIVING ON THE STREETS, ROADS AND INTERSTATES. I JUST HOPE THESE PACIFICA OWNERS WILL BE MADE AWARE OF THIS SERIOUS ISSUE. SUB-FRAME BROKE ON ME. IT IS THE EXACT PART THAT WAS RECALLED FOR THE 2004 PACIFICA. HOWEVER THERE IS NO RECALL FOR 2005? THE SUB FRAME BROKE WHILE I WAS DRIVING, WITH A CHILDREN IN CAR SEATS IN THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY CONCERN, ESPECIALLY IN THE "SALT BELT" CHRYSLER'S SELF ADMITTED INSUFFICIENT PROTECTIVE COATING ON THE SUB FRAME OF THESE CARS, SHOULD BE ENOUGH PROOF, TO RAISE EYEBROWS AND REMEDY THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPAIR ALL THE DAMAGE THIS CAUSED, AND PACIFICA'S CANNOT HOLD A RESELL VALUE, AS SELLING THIS TO ANOTHER PERSON, IS JUST LIKE HANDING THEM A TICKING TIME BOMB. WHY IS THERE NO SOLUTION OR HELP ON THIS ISSUE? I AM NOT ALONE WITH THESE ISSUES. I SUPPOSE IT WILL TAKE DEATHS FROM THIS FAULTY PART BEFORE ANY REAL ACTION IS ACTUALLY TAKEN. HAVING A STRONG PIECE OF METAL TO KEEP MY MOTOR FROM FALLING ON THE GROUND ISN'T TO MUCH TO ASK, OR IS IT? DISCOVERED THE RUST THROUGH, AND SUBSEQUENT ENGINE SHIFT, IN MID OCTOBER 2015 @ APPROXIMATELY 144,000 MILES, WHILE CAR WAS UP ON A LIFT. CAR WAS NO LONGER DRIVABLE DUE TO THIS CONDITION. HAD A LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP'S REPAIR SHOP TO REPLACE THE CRADLE FRAME AND MOTOR MOUNTS SHORTLY THEREAFTER. THEY DISAVOWED ANY HELP OR THEIR INVOLVEMENT IN GETTING CHRYSLER TO COVER THE REPAIR OF A KNOWN DEFECT. CALLED CHRYSLER'S CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD MY PACIFICA WAS NOT PART OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ISSUED FOR A SMALL NUMBER OF AND SHORT PRODUCTION RUN OF PACIFICAS. AM ATTEMPTING TO AGAIN CONTACT CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE VIA LETTER AND ASK FOR HELP WITH THE COST OF REPAIRS. ALSO TRYING TO JOIN THE CLASS ACTION GROUP THAT IS SUING CHRYSLER OVER THIS ISSUE. LAW FIRM IN COLUMBUS, OH IS LEAD COUNSEL ON THE CASE. I LOVE THIS CAR FOR ALL ITS ATTRIBUTES AND THAT IS WAS DEVELOPED, BUILT AND SOLD WHILE MERCEDES BENZ OWNED CHRYSLER, GIVING IT A MUCH HIGHER QUALITY IN MY OPINION. BATTERY HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE BECAUSE OF DISCHARGED FROM ALTERNATOR. HAD ALTERNATOR REPLACED. BATTERY CONTINUED TO DRAINED. VEHICLE RAN FOR ONE DAY AND COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE IN MOTION. AFTER JUMP STARTING THE BATTERY, VEHICLE RAN FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES. WAS TOLD BY SERVICE MECHANICS, BATTERY OR ALTERNATOR PROBLEMS EVEN AFTER HAVING THOSE PARTS REPLACED. FINALLY HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP THAT SPECIALIZED IN CHRYSLERS AND WAS SHOCK WHEN HE STATED IT WAS THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) WHICH I BELIEVED AND RESEARCHED WAS PART A RECALL FOR 2005 PACIFICAS IN 2006. TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS FIXED WHICH IS NOT THE PROBLEM OF THIS VEHICLE. THE PCM IS THE PROBLEM, AND THE DEALERSHIP IS NOT OWNING THIS. I DID NOT PURCHASE THE VEHICLE UNTIL 2010; SO I HONESTLY BELIEVED THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS NOT REPAIR BUT CLAIMED TO HAD BEEN. WHEN REFERENCING THE RECALL NOTIFICATION (WHICH I DID NOT RECEIVE PERSONALLY), THE FUEL PUMP PROBLEM WAS REPLACED FOR 2004 MODELS NOT 2005 MODELS. PCM PROBLEMS WERE THAT OF THE 2005 MODELS WHICH WAS NOT REPAIRED OR REPLACED FOR THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED APPROXIMATELY 7 TIMES NOW. FCA SAYS MY PACIFICA DOES NOT FIT THE NARROWLY DEFINED MANUFACTURE DATE OF 02/28/2004 TO 03/31/2004. MY PACIFICA WAS MANUFACTURED ON08/2004 AND THEREFORE DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE. MY LOCAL FCA DEALER GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF ABOUT $ 2600 TO REPLACE. HE GAVE ME A COPY OF CHRYSLER "EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD" WRITTEN NOTICE FOR THIS ISSUE FOR PACIFICA MODEL YEARS 2004-2005. I CALLED THEM AND THEY STATED THAT I'M NOT COVERED BECAUSE MY CAR WAS BUILT IN 8/04 AND NOT BETWEEN 3/04-4/04. THE NOTICE DOES NOT STATE THAT THE CARS NEED TO BE BUILT IN A PARTICULAR MONTH. I RECENTLY CHANGED MY OWN OIL ON THIS VEHICLE. WHEN I WAS UNDERNEATH OF IT I OBSERVED 1 MEDIUM SIZED RUST HOLE THRU THE SUBFRAME AND 2 SMALLER RUST HOLES IN THE SUBFRAME. THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES AFTER I FURTHER LOOKED INTO THE ISSUE THAT OTHERS WERE HAVING WITH THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE PICTURES OF THIS ISSUE. THIS IS KNOWN AS CRADLE ROT. THE LOWER MOTOR MOUNT OF THE ENGINE IS BOLTED INTO THIS SUBFRAME. AND IF CONTINUES TO GET WORSE THE ENGINE CAN FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE. NOT ONLY I HAVE 3 HOLES IN IT THERE IS A LOT OF RUST ON THIS SUBFRAME THAT LOOKS COULD BE MORE OF AN ISSUE IN THE YEARS TO COME. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THRU ALL THE YEARS OF BEING UNDER VEHICLES THIS IS BY FAR ONE OF THE WORSE I HAVE EVER SEEN. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE NOW DRIVING THIS CAR. ESPECIALLY WITH MY FAMILY IN IT. THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A "DIAGNOSTIC". CALLED CHRYSLER BACK AND TOLD THEM THE PACIFICA WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD CALL TO GET THE RESULTS. THEY REFUSED TO SPEAK WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD ME I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THAT THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART. WHY SEND ME FOR A DIAGNOSTIC THEN?? JUST TO GET MY $125 DOLLARS?? LOUD CLUNKING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING INTO REVERSE FROM PARK OR TAKING OFF FROM A STOP. ONCE IT IS IN 2ND OR 3RD GEAR YOU DON'T FEEL OR HEAR NOISE. THEY CONFIRMED THEY WERE SHOT BUT ALSO SAID MY ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTED OUT AND THAT WAS WHY THE MOTOR MOUNTS PROBABLY WENT BAD SO FAST. WE HAVE HAD 3 BAD WINTERS IN INDIANA AND THEY USE A LOT OF SALT. SO, I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND PLENTY OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS BUT CHRYSLER ISN'T DOING ENOUGH TO REPAIR OR COMPENSATE OWNERS FOR THE COST. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION SUIT FILED IN OHIO THAT I WILL TRY TO GET ON BOARD WITH IN HOPES OF RECOVERING SOME COSTS. I'M AFRAID TO TRANSPORT MY DAUGHTER AND FRIENDS IN MY VEHICLE, WHICH IS THE PRIMARY VEHICLE FOR OUR FAMILY.

I OWN A 2005 PACIFICA LIMITED, I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN 2009 FROM A CHRYSLER DEALER. I HAVE TAKEN THIS CAR BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHO SOLD ME THE CAR FOR SERVICING (OIL CHANGE, REPAIRS, ECT). NOT ONCE WAS I INFORMED (DURING THE PURCHASE OR ANY TIME DURING SERVICING THE PACIFICA) ABOUT THE ROTTING SUBFRAME. I HAVE ALL OF MY RECORDS SHOWING THE INSPECTION UNDERNEATH WITH NO MENTION OF THE ROTTING/RUSTED SUBFRAME. THIS CAR BELONGS TO MY WIFE AND SHE DRIVES OUR TWO KIDS IN THIS CAR (NOT ANYMORE). AFTER REVIEWING OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS I AM VERY UPSET AND FRUSTRATED WITH THIS WHOLE SITUATION. I HAD BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE SPUTTERING WHILE DRIVING ON AND OFF FOR A FEW MONTHS. I HAD A TUNE- UP DONE WHICH WORKED FOR A FEW WEEKS UNTIL IT STARTED UP AGAIN. I WAS DRIVING MY CHILDREN TO SCHOOL WHEN THE CAR STARTED TO JERK FRONT AND BACK AND THE ENGINE WOULD ALTERNATE BETWEEN REVING UP AND SPUTTERING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO DIE OUT. I MANAGED TO DROP MY KIDS OF AT SCHOOL AND GET BACK HOME. MY HUSBAND TOOK THE CAR IN AND THEY SERVICE GUY SAID THAT IT WOULD COST AROUND $5000.00 TO REPAIR. HE STATED THAT THE ENGINE MOUNT WAS CRACKED AND THE FRAME WAS RUSTED WHICH HAD CAUSED DAMAGE TO SOME OF THE VEHICLE WIRING. WE TOOK IT TO ANOTHER SHOP AND THE SERVICE GUY AT THIS SHOP SAID THE SAME. HE TOLD US THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE THAT THE ENGINE COULD ESSENTIALLY FALL RIGHT OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT. NEEDLESS TO SAY I DECIDED NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AGAIN. I USED THIS VEHICLE TO DRIVE MY CHILDREN EVERYWHERE. I AM EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED WITH THIS SITUATION BECAUSE I WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. I AM THANKFUL THAT NOTHING HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN; BUT I CAN'T HELP BUT WONDER HOW MAY OTHER PEOPLE ARE OUT THERE DRIVING AROUND IN THIS VEHICLE NOT KNOWING WHAT COULD HAPPEN. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS "ENGINE CRADLE" CORROSION PROBLEM HAS BEEN ACKNOWLEDGED BY CHRYSLER AND AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS ISSUED TO REPAIR THIS PART FOR 2004 AND 2005 PACIFICA'S. I TOOK MY 2005 PACIFICA FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE LAST WEEK, AND OUR MECHANIC DISCOVERED A LARGE AREA OF THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS COMPLETELY ROTTED AWAY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE UNDERCARRIAGE. HE SAID IT'S NOT SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL SOMETHING IS DONE TO FIX IT, BECAUSE THE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT OF THE CAR AT ANY TIME. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, WE DISCOVERED THAT WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES WHO HAVE THIS PROBLEM ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL. WE TOOK THE CAR TO OUR LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER, AND THEY WILL HAVE TO INSTALL A NEW ENGINE CRADLE AT AN ESTIMATED COST OF $2300. I THEN CONTACTED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE, AND THEY TOOK A STANCE OF PLAUSIBLE DENIABILITY, TELLING ME THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM UNIQUE TO MY PACIFICA. I EXPLAINED THAT THERE IS IRREFUTABLE PROOF THAT IT ISN'T UNIQUE TO MY VEHICLE. ALL PACIFICAS ARE PRONE TO THIS FAILURE. WHEN I ASKED ABOUT THE EXTENSION CHRYSLER ISSUED FOR THE WARRANTY ON PACIFICAS BECAUSE OF THIS VERY ISSUE AND WHY OWNERS WERE NEVER NOTIFIED, THE REPRESENTATIVE DID NOT DENY THERE WAS AN EXTENSION; HOWEVER, HE INFORMED ME THAT MY CAR IS TOO OLD AND WELL PAST ANY WARRANTY MILEAGE (WHICH IT ISN'T AT 138,600 MILES). AT THAT POINT THE REPRESENTATIVE BECAME RUDE. WHEN I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH A SUPERIOR, HE INFORMED ME THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE I COULD SPEAK TO ON THIS ISSUE AND THERE IS NOTHING CHRYSLER WILL DO TO ASSIST ME IN THE MATTER. ALL IN ALL, I'M (1) ALARMED THAT CHRYSLER IS NOT ADDRESSING THIS SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD IN THIS MODEL, AND (2) FRUSTRATED THAT THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER - AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL WAS FOR VEH MADE BETWEEN 2/23/04 - 3/31/04. MY VEHICLE WAS MADE 7/04. MY DAUGHTER, ON OUR ADVICE, OWNS THE SAME YEAR OF THE VEHICLE. HER VEHICLE WAS MADE 9/04. CHRYSLER TOLD ME THEY CAN'T HELP ME AND ENDED THE CONVERSATION. THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET ALL DEALING WITH THE ENGINE CRADLE ISSUE. ADD THIS TO THE EVER-GROWING STACK OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ENGINE CRADLE RUSTING OUT ON PACIFICAS WHICH FALL OUTSIDE THE DATES CHRYSLER SPECIFIED IN THEIR SERVICE BULLETIN. CLEARLY THOSE DATES WERE DATES OF ASSEMBLY, NOT OF FRAME MANUFACTURE, BECAUSE MANY PACIFICAS CONTINUED TO HAVE IMPROPERLY RUSTPROOFED FRAMES PUT IN WELL AFTER THE DATES CHRYSLER IDENTIFIED AS PROBLEMATIC. WHILE DRIVING FROM CANADA (MONTREAL) TO LARGO (FLORIDA) THE CHRYSLER PACIFICA 2005 STARTED TO LOOSE POWER AND SPEED (HIGHWAY 75 NEAR BROOKSFIELD, FL). I COULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR ON THE SHOULDER AS A TEMPORARY CEMENT WALL WAS ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE FOR CONSTRUCTION. A FEW SECOND LATER, AS THE CONSTRUCTION SITE WAS OVER I PULLED MY CAR ON THE SHOULDER AND 3 CARS HAD ALREADY STOPPED (THEY SAW THE FIRE UNDERNEATH MY CAR)AND THE DRIVERS WAVED AT ME TO STOP. I TRIED TO STOP ON THE SHOULDER BUT I DIDN'T HAVE ANY BRAKES ON THE CAR. FORTUNATELY, THE HIGHWAY WAS GOING UP SO THE CAR STOPPED BY ITSELF AND STARTED GOING BACKWARDS. HOWEVER, OUR CAR WAS MANUFACTURED OUTSIDE THE VERY NARROW RANGE OF DATES FOR WHICH AN EXTENDED 10 YEAR, 150K MILE WARRANTY ON THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS MADE AVAILABLE. THE BODY SHOP HAS QUOTED US $4000 TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE, AND SAID THE CAR IS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN IT'S CURRENT CONDITION. I TOOK MY NEWLY PURCHASED 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA TO MY MECHANIC TO GET THE BRAKES SERVICED, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT AND THE ENGINE WAS IN DANGER OF FALLING OUT! MY MECHANIC WAS EXTREMELY CONCERNED (HE IS A FRIEND AND AN HONEST MECHANIC WHO RUNS A VERY REPUTABLE REPAIR AND BODY SHOP IN OTTAWA, KS). I CALLED CHRYSLER BEFORE I PURCHASED THE CAR TO SEE IF THEIR WERE ANY RECALLS ON IT, AND WAS TOLD THEIR WAS NOT. THE CAR IS OTHERWISE IN PERFECT CONDITION, NO DAMAGE AND VERY LITTLE WEAR INSIDE AND OUT. IT WAS CLEAR TO MY MECHANIC THAT THIS WAS DUE TO SOME DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE, AND SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON A 10 YEAR OLD CAR THAT IS IN AS GOOD OF CONDITION AS MIND IS WITH ONLY 110000 MILES ON IT. TO HAVE A NEW ENGINE CRADLE PUT IT, IT WOULD COST OVER $4000. I CANNOT AFFORD THAT, SO WE ARE PUTTING IN A RECONDITIONED ONE, INSPECTED TO MAKE SURE IT HAS NO WEAR OR RUST ON IT, AND WE ARE PAINTING AND PUTTING ADDITIONAL UNDERCOATING ON IT AS TO PREVENT ANY SUCH RECURRENCES. A LETTER WAS SENT TO SOME 2004-2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA OWNERS THAT THE FRONT ENGINE CRADLE AND SUSPENSION MOUNT FRAME WAS PRONE TO CORROSION PROBLEMS. THE WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED TO 15 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES TO OWNERS IN STATES THAT USE ROAD SALT, COLD WEATHER STATES. WE LIVE IN PENNSYLVANIA, WHICH IS CONSIDERED A COLD WEATHER STATE. OUR PACIFICA WAS INSPECTED IN APRIL 2014. WE INFORMED THE STATION THAT WE WERE EXPERIENCING SOME VIBRATION IN THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE CRADLE ASSEMBLY AND MOUNT WAS RUSTED THROUGH AND BECAUSE OF SAFETY ISSUES THEY HAD TO BE REPLACED BEFORE IT WOULD PASS INSPECTION. THE COST WAS $2,702.08. THE VEHICLE HAD 122,638 MILES, UNDER THE WARRANTY THRESHOLD OF 150,000. WHEN WE LEARNED OF THIS SITUATION WE CALLED CHRYSLER. THEY INFORMED ME THAT ONLY PACIFICA'S MANUFACTURED BETWEEN A CERTAIN TIME FRAME WERE COVERED. THEY COULD NOT TELL ME THE TIME FRAME, BUT OUR VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, THE NEW CRADLE ASSEMBLY IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE ORIGINAL PART. NO CORRECTIVE ACTIONS HAVE BEEN TAKEN TO PREVENT THE RUSTING. THERE ARE OTHER CASES SIMILAR TO MINE ON THE INTERNET. STATE DMV?S ARE FAILING THESE VEHICLES FOR SAFETY ISSUES, THEY ARE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. HOW CAN CHRYSLER IGNORE THESE SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES? WHILE STARTING TO ACCELERATE GOING ONTO THE EXPRESSWAY, THE VEHICLE JUST STOPPED. THERE WAS POWER FROM THE BATTERY BUT THE CAR JUST STALLED. IT WAS HORRIBLE WINTER WEATHER WITH EXTREME COLD TEMPERATURES SO THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A REPUTABLE NEARBY AUTO REPAIR. IT TOOK TWO DAYS BUT THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM TO BE A BOLT ON THE WATER PUMP THAT HAD SHEARED OFF FLYING INTO THE ENGINE WHICH IN TURN DESTROYED THE TIMING CHAIN AND THE ENTIRE ENGINE. I CALLED CHRYSLER IN AN ATTEMPT TO FIND OUT IF THIS HAD BEEN ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THE 2005 PACIFICA MODEL BUT THEIR RESPONSE WAS ASKING ME IF WE HAD IT TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE ENGINE HAD TO BE REBUILT WHICH WAS OUR ONLY COST SAVING OPTION BUT THE MECHANIC THAT WORKED ON THE CAR STATED HE HAD NEVER IN ALL OF HIS YEARS IN THE BUSINESS SEEN A BOLT SHEAR OFF OF A WATER PUMP INSIDE THE ENGINE AND IT SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED. CHRYSLER TOLD ME TO TAKE THE DEFECTIVE PARTS TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THAT IT SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED BUT WHEN I CALLED CHRYSLER BACK WITH THE FINDINGS FROM THE DEALER, ALL THEY SAID WAS THAT THEY WOULD MAKE NOTE OF THE PROBLEM AND PRESENT IT TO A COMMITTEE FOR REVIEW. WHILE THIS VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY WE HAD TO HAVE THE BACK END SEAL REPLACED 3 OR 4 TIMES WHICH KEPT BREAKING UNTIL CHRYSLER FINALLY AGREED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE BACK END WITHOUT EXPLANATION AS TO WHY IT KEPT HAPPENING. 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ENGINE AND HEADLIGHT PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED TWICE, WITHIN THE LAST 3 YEARS. BOTH TIMES, HE WAS MAKING A HARD TURN, WHEN THE ENGINE STOPPED. HE WA ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND RE-STARTED IT, WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC, WHO FOUND NOTHING WRONG, OTHER THAN THROTTLE BODY BUILD-UP, WHICH HE CLEANED. ALSO, THE HEADLIGHT WOULD INTERMITTENTLY GO OUT. THE BULB DID NOT SEEM TO FIT SECURELY IN THE HARNESS, WHICH CAUSED A SHORT AND EVENTUALLY THE BULB BLEW OUT. THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE MORE PROMINENT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. MANY OF THE PACIFICAS ENGINE CRADLES ARE SEVERELY RUSTED; TO THE POINT OF IF A BREAK OCCURS THE ENGINE WILL FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE IS MAINLY ON YEARS 2004-2005. I CHECKED OUT THE PROBLEM ON LINE AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A RECOGNIZED PROBLEM WITH 2004 PACIFICA'S AND THAT CHRYSLER HAS OFFERED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO MANUFACTURES DEFECT. HOWEVER THERE IS ONLY A ONE MONTH PERIOD (IN-SERVICE DATE) THAT APPLIES TO THE WARRANTY. YOU CAN PUT YOUR FIST THROUGH THE ENGINE CRADLE. ENGINE VIBRATES AND WE ARE CONCERNED THAT IT WILL FALL OUT OF THE CAR AND KILL SOMEONE. WE WONT LET OUR KIDS DRIVE IT ANYMORE AND CANT AFFORD TO REPLACE IT. I TOOK MY 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN TO GET MY INSPECTION DONE YESTERDAY. THE MECHANIC PUT THE CAR IN THE LIFT TO CHECK IT, THEN HE SHOWED ME WHERE THE ENGINE CRADLE/SUBFRAME HAD CORRODED TO THE POINT WHERE YOU COULD STICK YOUR FINGERS THROUGH THE HOLE. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS MORE LIKE MYSELF WITH THIS PROBLEM. CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND DOES NOTHING ABOUT IT. THEY RECALLED A MINUTE PORTION OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL WITH THE SAME PROBLEM MADE IN THE SAME YEAR. THERE ARE HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS, WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. MAY HAVE NO CLUE THAT THEY ARE DRIVING A TICKING TIME BOMB, IN WHICH THE ENGINE COULD DROP OUT AT ANY TIME WHILE THEY ARE DRIVING. THIS CAR IS SUPPOSED TO BE A FAMILY VEHICLE. I DROVE MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN IN THIS CAR FOR A LONG TIME, NOT KNOWING IT COULD HAVE WRECKED AT ANY TIME. GOT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER CHANGED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF FOR ABOUT A MONTH OR SO BUT CAME RIGHT BACK ON. HAD TO GET THE RADIATOR REPAIRED AND NOW THERE IS 5 DIFFERENT CODES POPPING UP P0305, P0404, P0736, P179, AND P0720 IM SURE THESE CODES MEAN NOTHING TO YOU BUT I NEEDED TO ADDRESS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW SO MANY COMPLAINTS WERE MADE AND THESE ARE FROM FAMILIES PEOPLE WHO SPEND A LITTLE MORE MONEY ON SOMETHING THAT IS NOT A MINI VAN TO END UP WITH SOME CRAP!!!!! OUR 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA TOURING MODEL DID NOT PASS A STATE VEHICLE SAFETY INSPECTION BECAUSE OF EXTENSIVE CORROSION HOLES AND FRAME RUST. THE ENGINE CRADLE SUPPORT HAS RUST HOLES AND IS SEVERELY WEAKENED, AND THE AREAS BELOW THE ROCKER PANELS UNDERNEATH THE CAR HAVE RUSTED THROUGH. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW BY MY FATHER, AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED AND WELL MAINTAINED. THE CAR HAS ONLY 77,100 MILES ON IT, AND YET NOW IS CONSIDERED STRUCTURALLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. RESEARCHING ONLINE, I FOUND THAT CHRYSLER KNEW OF THE UNUSUAL CORROSION PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE RUST PROBLEM BY QUIETLY ISSUING AN EXTRAORDINARY "EXTENDED 10 YEAR / 150,000 MILE WARRANTY" FOR PACIFICA MODEL YEARS 2004-2005. THEY SUBSEQUENTLY AMENDED THIS WARRANTY TO LIMIT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO THE FRONT ENGINE CRADLE ONLY (REFERENCE: X26, WARRANTY BULLETIN DATED MARCH 16, 2012), AND FURTHER REDUCED THEIR EXPOSURE BY ONLY PROVIDING THIS WARRANTY COVERAGE TO VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN FEBRUARY 23, 2004, TO MARCH 31, 2004 - AN IMPLAUSIBLY SHORT TIME FRAME GIVEN THEIR ACKNOWLEDGED CORROSION PROBLEM. THE CHRYSLER CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE, SINCE THE MANUFACTURE DATE FOR THIS CAR WAS JUNE, 2005. IT IS INEXCUSABLE THAT A WELL-MAINTAINED 2005 VEHICLE WITH ONLY 77,000 MILES COULD BE RENDERED STRUCTURALLY UNSAFE DUE TO CORROSION. IT IS ABSURD TO SUGGEST THAT THEIR CORROSION PROBLEM ONLY AFFECTED ONE PART MANUFACTURED ONLY WITHIN A 36 DAY WINDOW. HAVING SPOKEN WITH SEVERAL MECHANICS AND INSURANCE ADJUSTERS, EXTENSIVE UNDERBODY PANEL RUST AND FRAME CORROSION ARE EXTREMELY COMMON WITH THIS MODEL YEAR. STRUCTURAL CORROSION IS A KNOWN DEFECT WITH THIS CAR. IT'S A HUGE FINANCIAL LOSS FOR US. IT ALSO A DANGEROUS SAFETY "TIME BOMB". THEY KNOW IT IS. INSPECTOR CITED MULTIPLE HOLES IN THE "CRADLE" FRAME MEMBER SUPPORTING ENGINE, STEERING, AND SUSPENSION PARTS. "CRADLE" WAS COMPLETELY PERFORATED IN SEVERAL PLACES BY CORROSION, AND SHOWED SIGNS OF ADDITIONAL CORROSION WHICH WOULD ULTIMATELY LEAD TO MORE HOLES. CRADLE WAS JUDGED STRUCTURALLY COMPROMISED. INSPECTION STATION CONSULTED NY DMV AND IT WAS DETERMINED AND REPORTED TO ME THAT VEHICLE IS UNSAFE, AND THAT REPLACEMENT OF CRADLE WOULD BE REQUIRED TO RETURN VEHICLE TO SERVICE AND TO PASS NEW YORK STATE INSPECTION. IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME THAT A MINOR IMPACT -- SUCH AS ENCOUNTERING A POTHOLE AT SPEED, OR HITTING AN OBJECT WITH THE FRAME OR BODY OF THE VEHICLE -- COULD CAUSE COLLAPSE OF THE FRONT END STRUCTURE OF THE VEHICLE, LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL, LOSS OF THE ENGINE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, COLLAPSE OF THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM, AND POTENTIAL RESULTANT FIRE, EXPLOSION, AND INJURY OR LOSS OF LIFE TO OCCUPANTS OF VEHICLE OR OTHERS IN THE VICINITY. *TR THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE LEFT HIS WIFE STRANDED. AFTER CONDUCTING RESEARCH ON VARIOUS WEBSITES, I FOUND THAT NUMEROUS CONSUMERS/OWNERS OF PACIFICA MODELS MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 2004 AND 2006 ARE REPORTING THIS ISSUE AND CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM AND LISTED IT AS A POSSIBLE DEFECTIVE PART. IN RESPONSE, CHRYSLER HAS ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, LIMITED TO CERTAIN STATES (WHICH THEY REFER TO AS 'SALT BELT STATES") COVERING REPAIRS FOR THIS PROBLEM. WAS INFORMED BY OUR MECHANIC THAT THE FRONT CROSSMEMBER/ENGINE CRADLE/K-FRAME HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE/MODEL/YEAR VEHICLE. CHRYSLER ISSUED A RECALL DUE TO THIS DEFECT, BUT IT ONLY COVERED MANUFACTURING DATES UP TO MARCH 31, 2004 AND OUR VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN JUNE OF 2004. UPON INSPECTION BY MY MECHANIC IT BECAME EVIDENT THAT THE "ENGINE CRADLE" WHICH HOLDS UP ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY ROTTED THROUGH WITH ABOUT 80% OF VISIBLE CORROSION (I REALLY WISH I COULD ACTUAL ATTACH PICTURES OF CORROSION PROVIDED TO ME BY MY MECHANIC). UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS "ENGINE CRADLE" CORROSION PROBLEM HAS BEEN ACKNOWLEDGED BY CHRYSLER AND AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS ISSUED TO REPAIR THIS PART FOR 04 AND 05 PACIFICA'S. EXTENDED WARRANTY LETTER ID IS: 0004617/#45543/X26...HOWEVER, WHEN I CONTACTED CHRYSLER, I WAS INFORMED THAT BASED ON THE VIN # OF MY CAR, I DID NOT QUALIFY FOR CHRYSLERS EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS ISSUE (10 YRS OR 150,000 MILES) - THE LETTER CHRYSLER ISSUED FOR THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY CLEARLY STATES THAT IT COVERS 2004-2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA'S, AND EVEN THOUGH I FALL WITHIN THE MODEL YEAR, GEOGRAPHICAL REGION, AND THE 10YR/150,000MILE GUIDELINES OF EXTENDED WARRANTY, CHRYSLER CLAIMS THAT MY 2005 WAS NOT MANUFACTURED WITHIN SOME NARROW MANUFACTURING WINDOW TO QUALIFY FOR THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY. WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY I GLANCED IN MY REAR-VIEW MIRROR AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM OUT THE BACK OF MY PACIFICA. THE SUBFRAME (WHICH HOLDS UP THE ENGINE) HAS THOROUGHLY RUSTED THROUGH CREATING THE DANGER OF THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION FALLING FROM THE FRAME. I AM TOLD THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. CHRYSLER HAS ACKNOWLEDGED A DEFECT IN MATERIALS USED TO CONSTRUCT CARS IN FEBRUARY AND MARCH OF 2004 AND HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 150,000 MILES FOR THOSE VEHICLES. AS MINE WAS PRODUCED 4 MONTHS LATER THEY ARE DENYING ANY LIABILITY AND REFUSING ANY ASSISTANCE. THE DEFECT IS IDENTICAL TO ONE THAT IS COVERED ON CARS MADE 4 MONTHS PRIOR , AND THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY DOCUMENTATION SHOWING THE MATERIAL USED ON MY VEHICLE IS NOT FROM THE DEFECTIVE BATCH. I MAY HAVE DEFECTIVE PARTS BUT THEY CANNOT PROVIDE A METHOD TO IDENTIFY THOSE DEFECTIVE PARTS. CHRYSLER IS UNWILLING TO EVEN EXAMINE THE VEHICLE, INSTEAD USING THE VIN AS THEIR ONLY REFERENCE AS TO COVERAGE. I FOUND IT INTERESTING THAT WHEN I REFERENCED OTHERS RECEIVING ASSISTANCE OUTSIDE THE PARAMETERS OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY I WAS TOLD THAT BASED ON CUSTOMER LOYALTY THERE MAY BE ASSISTANCE FOR SOME BUT IT WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO ME. I AM CONCERNED THAT CUSTOMER LOYALTY PLAYS A ROLE IN THE SAFETY OF THEIR (PAST) CUSTOMERS. HAD OUR 2005 PACIFICA IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AT LOCAL DEALER. THEY "NOTIFIED" US THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE HAD CRACKING. WE CHECKED WITH CHRYSLER IF THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN OR RECALL ON THIS 7 YR OLD CAR AND WERE TOLD NO. WE THEN SEARCHED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND A LETTER DATED 11/9/10, WRITTEN BY CHRYSLER, TO THE OWNER OF A'04-05 AGE PACIFICA, INFORMING THEM THE WARRANTY PERIOD ON THEIR FRONT ENGINE CRADLE HAD BEEN EXTENDED TO 10 YRS OR 150,000 MILES, WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST. THE WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED TO VEHICLES IN AREAS OF HIGH ROAD SALT USAGE, AS THEY MAY EXPERIENCE ENGINE CRADLE CORROSION RESULTING IN A "DRIVEABILITY VIBRATION AND/OR SHAKE". WE LIVE AND BOUGHT OUR CAR, IN MINNESOTA WHICH IS A STATE OF "HIGH ROAD SALT USAGE" BUT CHYSLER WILL NOT BACK THE WARRANTY EXTENSION TO US BECAUSE THE CAR'S FIRST OWNER WAS IN NEVADA (WE ARE THE 2ND OWNER). WE FEEL THE LETTER WRITTEN BY CHRYLSER CLEARLY SHOWS THEY ARE AWARE AND ADMIT THE ENGINE CRADLE IN THIS CAR IS SUBJECT TO CORROSION BUT THEY WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. EXPERIENCING A VIBRATION/SHAKING IN THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE K-FRAME ASSEMBLY THAT HOLDS THE ENGINE IS COMPLETELY ROTTED OUT. MY MECHANIC ADVISED ME THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY A RECENT TSB PUT OUT BY CHRYSLER ON 3/16/12, NUMBER 13-001-12. HOWEVER, UPON READING THE TSB, IT ONLY COVERS THOSE VEHICLES MADE FROM 2/23/04 - 3/31/04. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN MAY 2004. I CALLED CHRYSLER DIRECTLY AND THEY TOLD ME BECAUSE I WAS THE THIRD OWNER OF THE VEHICLE AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW HOW THE VEHICLE WAS TREATED AND BECAUSE OF THE HIGH MILEAGE, THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST ME IN ANY WAY. I FILED A REPORT WITH THE NH ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. I THEN RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM CHRYSLER'S CLAIMS INVESTIGATION DIVISION. THEY OFFERED TO PAY FOR ONE PART WHICH COST $1,550 (FRONT CROSS MEMBER). I DID NOT ACCEPT HER OFFER AS THE COST TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE IN FULL WITH ALL NECESSARY PARTS AND LABOR TOTALS $2,362.07. MY CLAIM WAS THEN REFERRED TO THE CHRYSLER BUSINESS CENTER WHO WOULD MAKE A FINAL DECISION AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THEY WOULD REPAIR MY VEHICLE. I EMPHASIZED THAT THIS WAS DEEMED A SAFETY ISSUE BY MY MECHANIC. I ALSO SPOKE WITH A LOCAL CHRYSLER SERVICE CENTER AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAD SEEN 6 OF THESE SAME REPAIRS ON MY EXACT VEHICLE WITHIN THE PAST 12 MONTHS AND THAT THIS SHOULD BE DEEMED A RECALL THROUGH THE MANUFACTURER. ON SEPTEMBER 24, 2012, I RECEIVED A COPY OF A LETTER FROM CHRYSLER TO THE NH ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE STATING THAT MY VEHICLE WAS "PURCHASED USED AND IS BEYOND ANY WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE.
