However, the parts to repair the vehicle were not available. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the parts had been discontinued. The vehicle was not repaired. THE 2005 CHRYSTLER PACIFICA WAS TRAVELING 35 MPH IN THE WINTER ON A PAVED ROAD WHEN IT JUST DIED NO WARNING. I HAD IT TOWED TO MY HOUSE FOR FURTHER TESTING.THE CAR TRIES STARTING BUT NEVER TURNS OVER ACT LIKE NO FUEL. I THEN HOOKED IT UP TO MY FOXWELL NT630 ELITE OBD2 SCANNER IT DETECTED CODES P0340, P2066, P0700, & P0461 CODE P0340 CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR A CIRCUIT BANK 1 OR SINGLE SENSOR (PART REPLACED). CODE P2066 FUEL LEVEL SENSOR B (PERFORMANCE). CODE P0700 TRANSMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM. MY 2005 VEHICLES BUILT IN AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER OF 2004 ARE BEING RECALLED TO CORRECT A DEFECT IN THE SECONDARY FUEL PUMP MODULES, WHICH MAY HAVE AN IMPROPER PRESS FITTING ON THE INLET THAT CAN BECOME DISLODGED AND SHUT-OFF FUEL FLOW. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED I HAD TO PULL OFF THE FREE WAY(NO ACCIDENT, THANKFULLY) THE BREAKS WERE HARD TO PUSH DOWN I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO LET IT ROLL THROUGH TRAFFIC I GOT TO A SAFE PLACE I PUT IT IN PARK WAITED ABOUT 30 MINUTES TO TRY STARTING IT, IT WOULD NOT START. SMOKE CAME OUT FROM BACK PASSENGER REAR TIRE. LET MY CAR SIT OVER NIGHT TRIED TO START IT THE NEXT MORNING, AGAIN IT WOULD NOT START. I HAD IT TOWED IT INTO SHOP THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM I HAD LEFT MY VEHICLE IN THE SHOP FOR A WEEK OTHER MECHANICS DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM. LATER THEY TOLD ME I NEED A WHOLE NEW ENGINE. I ONLY GOT TO DRIVE IT 2X BEFORE IT STALLED. I REALLY LIKE IT AND WISH I CAN GET IT FIXED I DO BELIEVE IT HAS TO DO WITH THE POWER TRAIN, FUEL PROPULSION, AND ENGINE. *TR

WHEN DRIVING SPEED REACHES 60MPH THE CAR HAS POWER SURGES AND SHUTTERS, THE CAR MAKES A LOUD WHINING NOISE WHILE DRIVING LIKE IT IS STUCK IN HIGH GEAR. THE CAR HAS A HIGH RPM SPEED OF 4-6RPMS WHILE DRIVING. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AT ALL TIMES.

AS DESCRIBED ON YOUTUBE VIDEOS, COULD SEE THAT THE PINK PLASTIC PART WAS BROKEN SO SPRING DID NOT OPERATE. FOUND OPENING SO I COULD ROTATE THE PINK PART WITH FINGER AND GET OUT OF PARK. THIS PROBLEM SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE PROBLEMS COVERED BY RECALL K39, BUT MY MODEL IS APPARENTLY NOT COVERED. WHY IS IT NOT COVERED? SHOULD CHRYSLER COVER THE REPAIR?

WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY (DRIVING 45 MI/HR), IT STOPPED MOVING ACCELERATING (SEEMS LIKE THE CAR IS ACTUALLY SLOWING DOWN) EVEN WHEN I WAS STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL. AND THEN THE CAR STALLED.......IT WAS A GOOD THING I WAS ON THE VERY RIGHT SIDE OF THE LANE. THE FUEL PUMP MODULE AND/OR THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) SOFTWARE MAY ALLOW THE ENGINE TO STALL UNDER CERTAIN OPERATING CONDITIONS, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. DEALERS WILL NEED TO REPROGRAM/REPLACE THE PCM/TCM AND/OR REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP MODULE TO CORRECT THIS CONCERN. IN MOST CASES, ASIDE FROM STALLING AND ENGINE REVVING UP AND DOWN ON ITS OWN, THERE'S A LOT OF HARD JERKING WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. IT SEEMS LIKE THE ENGINE HAS A MIND OF ITS OWN SINCE WHEN I ACCELERATE, THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE OR DELAY IN MOVING FORWARD AND IF I LET GO OF THE GAS, THE CAR MOVES FORWARD. IT'S A SAFETY CONCERN.

FRONT SUB-FRAME HAS RUSTED THROUGH RENDERING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THIS IS THE EXACT SAME FAILURE AS MANY OTHER REPORTS YOU HAVE RECEIVED ON THIS VINTAGE, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. FCA HAS REFUSED TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE TOWARD THE REPAIR AND MY LOCAL MECHANIC REPORTED THAT NEW REPLACEMENT SUB-FRAMES ARE NOT EVEN AVAILABLE - LEAVING CONSUMERS WITH THE CHOICE OF RECYCLING THE VEHICLE AT A SALVAGE YARD, REPAIRING IT WITH WHAT IS OBVIOUSLY FLAWED OEM COMPONENTS, OR KEEP IT AS LAWN DECORATION. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD AND AM THANKFUL THE PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED PRIOR TO MY WIFE OR SON EXPERIENCING A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE LOOSES A LIFE BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT. BE PROACTIVE AND FORCE FCA TO REPAIR THESE FAILURES - REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE - OR THIS ORGANIZATION IS PART OF THE PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO BERGSTROM USED CAR SUPER CENTER OF APPLETON (2925 N VICTORY LN, APPLETON, WI 54913, (920) 749-3232) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRAME HAD EXTENSIVE RUST, HOLES, AND CORROSION THAT COULD AFFECT THE MOTOR, RENDERING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

BATTERY HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE BECAUSE OF DISCHARGED FROM ALTERNATOR. HAD ALTERNATOR REPLACED. BATTERY CONTINUED TO DRAINED. VEHICLE RAN FOR ONE DAY AND COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE IN MOTION. AFTER JUMP STARTING THE BATTERY, VEHICLE RAN FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES. WAS TOLD BY SERVICE MECHANICS, BATTERY OR ALTERNATOR PROBLEMS EVEN AFTER HAVING THOSE PARTS REPLACED. FINALLY HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP THAT SPECIALIZED IN CHRYSLERS AND WAS SHOCK WHEN HE STATED IT WAS THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) WHICH I BELIEVED AND RESEARCHED WAS PART A RECALL FOR 2005 PACIFICAS IN 2006. TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS FIXED WHICH IS NOT THE PROBLEM OF THIS VEHICLE. THE PCM IS THE PROBLEM, AND THE DEALERSHIP IS NOT OWNING THIS. I DID NOT PURCHASE THE VEHICLE UNTIL 2010; SO I HONESTLY BELIEVED THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS NOT REPAIR BUT CLAIMED TO HAD BEEN. WHEN REFERENCING THE RECALL NOTIFICATION (WHICH I DID NOT RECEIVE PERSONALLY), THE FUEL PUMP PROBLEM WAS REPLACED FOR 2004 MODELS NOT 2005 MODELS. PCM PROBLEMS WERE THAT OF THE 2005 MODELS WHICH WAS NOT REPAIRED OR REPLACED FOR THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED APPROXIMATELY 7 TIMES NOW. I AM STILL PAYING INSURANCE FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE ME $1000 FOR REPAIR, THAT IS A LITTLE LESS THAT HALF OF WHAT THE VEHICLE IS WORTH.

I WENT TO GET THE 2005 CHRYSTLER PACIFICA INSPECTED AND WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THAT THE BOTTOM WAS RUSTED SO BADLY THAT THE ENGINE WOULD FALL OUT, AND FURTHER THAT THE YEAR MAKE AND MODEL WAS UNDER RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, THE BOTTOM RUSTING OUT HORRIBLY. I CALLED CHRYSTLER WITH THE VIN # AND WAS TOLD THIS 1 WASN'T PART OF THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THE SAME YEAR AND MAKE OF THE RECALL. I OWE 4,400$ ON THE CAR AND NOW AM TOLD THE REPAIRS WOULD EXCEED 5,000$. I FINANCED IT FOR 6,455$ AT THE START. I'M DISABLED AND GREATLY IN NEED OF HELP, I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO I HAVE MADE A SLEW OF CALLS TO NO AVAIL AT THIS POINT AND CONTINUE TO MAKE PAYMENTS AS I DON'T WANT TO RUIN MY CREDIT, PLEASE HELP ME, I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO.

THIS DEFECT SEEMS TO BE WELL DOCUMENTED ON NUMEROUS WEB SITES AND FIAT CHRYSLER GROUP IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND MAKES LIKE THE PROBLEM IS WITH ONLY A VERY LIMITED NUMBER OF VEHICLES WHICH IS CLEARLY NOT THE CASE. I AS WELL WAS TOLD THAT I HAD EXTENDED POWER TRAIN WARRANTY WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED IN JUNE OF 2013. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY DEFECT; AS THIS CAR (AND OTHERS) ARE NOT STRUCTURALLY SOUND. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK AND ALSO MENTIONED THE HORN ALSO WENT OUT. THE COMPANY AGREED TO FIX THIS AGAIN AS WELL AS PERFORM MY INSPECTION AS THE STICKER HAD EXPIRED. THE CAR WAS KEPT ANOTHER 2 WEEKS. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP FOR A SECOND TIME THE CAR BEGAN OVERHEATING. HE ALSO NOTED MISSING LUG NUTS ON ALL TIRES. I BROUGHT THIS UP TO THE COMPANY AGAIN WHO REFUSED TO LISTEN. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH DMV, BBB, OAG, FTC AND DPS. DPS SENT OUT AN INVESTIGATOR WHO TOOK PICS AS WELL AND ALSO NOTED THAT THE TINT ON THE VEHICLE WAS ILLEGAL AND THAT NOT ONLY WERE LUG NUTS MISSING BUT THE LUG BOLTS WERE BROKEN OFF. ALL THIS AS WELL AS THE MOTOR MOUNT HAVE SINCE BEEN REPLACED. THE BOLTS HOLDING THE CV JOINT AND MOTOR MOUNT WERE ALSO FOUND NOT TO BE THE PROPER SIZE. ON 12/24/11 AS I WAS DRIVING MY SEAT BELT BECAME UNBOLTED FROM THE VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO PLACE IT BACK IN WHERE IT CAME FROM BUT IT IS NOT SECURE. THIS IS AN OLD STORY. 2005 CHRYSLER PASIFICA. I ADJUSTED (MOVE FORWARD) ACCEL AND BRAKE PEDAL POSITION BY ELECTRIC POSITION ADJUSTMENT SYSTEM. THEN I WENT TO A HIGHWAY (I94, MI), MY CAR DID NOT SPEED AT ALL. VERY SLOW. SO, I COULD NOT FOLLOW THE FLOW OF OTHER VEHICLE, I WAS ALMOST BE CRASHED. I IMMEDIATELY QUIT FROM THE HIGHWAY AND CHECKED THE PEDALS. THE REASON OF THE ISSUE WAS POOR STROKE OF THE PEDALS. IN CASE OF PACIFICA, WHEN WE MOVE THE PEDALS FORWARD MORE THAN MIDDLE POSITION, MOVING RANGE OF THE ACCEL PEDAL WAS REDUCED LESS THAN HALF BECAUSE THE PEDAL HIT ON THE FLOOR. ALSO, THIS PROBLEM CAUSES AUTO CRUISE SYSTEM PROBLEM. BECAUSE THE PEDAL CAN NOT MOVE MORE THAN HALF OF ITS RANGE, THE SYSTEM CAN NOT PULL THE PEDAL CORRECTLY. THEN THE VACUUM HOSE DROPS OUT FROM THE LINE. MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY SLOW DOWN WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED. I WENT TO CHRYSLER SERVICE CENTER AND THEY RECONNECT THE VACUUM HOSE AGAIN. THIS HELPED AND SLOWED THE OIL CONSUMPTION,, BUT DID NOT FIX IT. NOW THE CAR WAS STILL BURNING 1 QUART 1000 MILES, WHICH CHRYSLER CLAIMED WAS PERFECTLY NORMAL , ACCORDING TO THEIR POLICY. THE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THIS WAS NOT A PROBLEM THAT PACIFICA'S HAD AND SEEMSED TO BE UNIQUE TO THIS CAR ,AND A FEW OTHERS. CHRYSLERWAS STILL REFUSING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IF ALLOWED THE OIL TO BURN AT 1QUART. PER 1000 MILES, THEN AT 3000 MILES OIL CHANGE THE VEHICLE WILL BE 3 QUARTS LOW, LEAVING ONLY 2.5 QUARTS. OF OIL INTHE CAR. THIS WAS 2 QUARTS. THE DASH CAP HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF A HUMP IN THE RIGHT SIDE NEAR THE DEFROST VENT AND BECAUSE OF A SAG IN THE CENTER PART OF THE DASH, DEALER REPLACED THE DASH CAP. LEFT REAR PASSENGER DOOR JAM LACKS SUFFICIENT PAINT, DEALERSHIP NOTED IT AND STATED THAT IT WAS NOT A NECESSITY TO FIX. 6. IN THE TAILGATE SECTION WHEN YOU RAISE THE LIFTGATE THE TRIM MOLDING WAS SAGGING, DEALERSHIP REPLACED IT. 7. CARPET BEHIND THE REAR SEAT WAS LOOSE, DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THAT. 8. LIGHTS AND DASH BOARD ARE LIT BUT CAR IS SHUT OFF. CAR RESTARTED WITH NO PROBLEM. SECOND TIME, I WAS PARKING IN A SPOT THAT WAS AGAIN AT AN INCLINE. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND STEPPED ON THE GAS PETAL TO BEGIN DRIVING IN REVERSE, CAR DIED. BOTH TIMES I HAD APPROXIMATELY 3/4 OF A TANK OF GAS. DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF JUNE, 2006 I NOTICED A FEW THINGS THAT SEEMED TO ALL BEGIN AT THE SAME TIME. MY PACIFICA WOULD NOT START RIGHT AWAY WHEN I FIRST ATTEMPTED TO START IT AFTER IT HAD BEEN SITTING OVER NIGHT, IT WOULD HESITATE WHEN I TOOK OFF FROM A STOP IF I HAD BEEN ON A DOWNHILL INCLINE AND THE GAS GAUGE WOULD DROP TO EMPTY AS SOON AS THE TANK WAS DOWN TO FIVE-EIGHTHS FULL. THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY AS SOON AS I FILLED THE TANK, BUT THE NEXT WEEK IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHEN THE TANK GOT DOWN TO FIVE-EIGHTHS. I CALLED THE DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND THE EARLIEST THEY COULD TAKE IT WAS JUNE 21ST. THE PROBLEM GOT MUCH WORSE BY THE TIME THE 21ST CAME AROUND. EVERY TIME I CAME TO A STOP THE ENGINE WOULD STALL. IT WOULD START BACK UP IF THE CAR WAS PUT IN DRIVE, BUT IF IT WAS ON A DOWNHILL INCLINE IT WOULD NOT RESTART. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER ON JUNE 21ST AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A FUEL PUMP. THEY CALLED ME LATER THAT DAY AND SAID THE PART WAS BACK ORDERED, BUT THEY SHOULD HAVE IT IN A DAY OR TWO. WELL, TODAY IS JULY 19TH AND MY CAR IS STILL AT THE DEALER WAITING FOR A PART. EVIDENTLY THE PACIFICAS HAVE A PRIMARY FUEL PUMP AND A JET PUMP. SO MANY OF THE CARS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM (THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS LISTED ON EDMUNDS.COM FORUM) THAT EVIDENTLY THEY CAN'T KEEP UP WITH THE DEMAND FOR THESE PUMPS. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE CHRYSLER CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER ON JULY 11TH. I DON'T KNOW IF IT HAS DONE ANY GOOD, BUT THEY DO CALL THE DEALER EACH TIME I CALL THEM WHILE THEY HAVE ME ON THE PHONE. I AM TRYING TO BE PATIENT BECAUSE I LOVE THIS CAR, BUT THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS. IT IS ALSO HAVING A NEW POWER SEAT MEMORY MODULE INSTALLED BECAUSE BOTH POWER SEATS STOPPED WORKING AND IT HAD A NEW TRANSFER CASE INSTALLED BECAUSE OF A CLICKING/CLUNKING NOISE IN THE FRONT END DURING TURNS. *NM

WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND WAS ABOUT TO ENTER THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WHEN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED. CAR WOULD NOT MOVE, NO FORWARD OR REVERSE. THE 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA HAD 1,077 MILES ON IT AND WE HAD THE VEHICLE JUST ONE MONTH. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THEY ADVISED US THAT REAR CARRIER GEAR HAD FAILED IN THE TRANSMISSION DUE TO A MANUFACTURING DEFECT (NOT PROPERLY WELDED). PART WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER.

THEY USUALLY DON'T HAVE OLD PARTS AVAILABLE BECAUSE IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.
