The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle turned off independently but was able to be restarted. Additionally, the vehicle was difficult to start. The vehicle was taken to an independent shop, where the PCM was reprogrammed and an unknown fuel injector repair was performed; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that while at a complete stop, the vehicle shut off independently but was able to be restarted. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to the dealer for the recall repair of NHTSA Campaign Number: 06V432000 (Power Train), the dealer informed the contact that the equipment and parts to do the recall repair were not available after the vehicle had remained at the dealer for two days. The contact stated that several other dealers were contacted and provided the same information. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. My 2006 chrysler pacifica van has a corrosive chassis about break into, (meanimg) my engine is about to fall & hit the ground, this is my second chrysler, my first was a 2005 chrysler pacifica, when I bout the first one in 2014 they replace the chassis but I never thought to search Up under this one out of (well) even after I had taken them to a CHRYSLER DEALER no one ever told me at DEALERSHIP that I needed a chassis on either one or the 2005 nor the 2006 chrysler pacifica even when I took them in for services, I just don't understand now nor did I not get the kind of service then, I have put all kind of money in these cars mostly this one, window motor, #5fuel injector,electronic ignition,oil pump sensor,radiator,evac sensor, front struts, brakes,,,,now the chassis the gasket near the water pump ,2nd gas line which they say that I have to replace second fuel line cause it getting to much air which make my gas cap lite come on,,,,,how I mean why , I mean who can I turn to to fix or help me with these issues,

I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE UNDER THE IMPRESSION IT NEEDED A MOTOR MOUNT TO FIND OUT THAT THE SUB FRAME IS ROTTEN TO THE POINT IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE TO DRIVE. THE REST OF THE DETAILS MAY NOT BE OF INTEREST TO YOU BUT I AM THE SURVIVING SPOUSE OF A DECEASED VETERAN AND MOTHER OF HIS TWO CHILDREN. I TOOK MY CAR IN TODAY TO HAVE SHOCKS PUT ON AND WAS INFORMED THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS SO SEVERELY RUSTED THE RACK AND PINION WAS ABOUT TO DROP OUT OF THE CAR ALONG WITH THE MOTOR. I DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY EVERYDAY AND THIS WOULD HAVE BROKE IN THE NEXT WEEK OR SO AND I WOULD PROBABLY BE SEVERELY INJURED OR WORSE.

ENTERED FREEWAY BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND LOST POWER. STARTING EXITING FREEWAY THEN CAR EXCELERATING ON ITS OWN. ENGINE WAS REVING AND HUMMING SO MUCH I THOUGHT THE ENGINE WOULD CATCH ON FIRE. CAR WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN. I HAD TO PUT IT IN NEUTRUAL AND HIT THE BRAKES AS I EXIT THE FREEWAY TO SAFELY PARKED. CALLED TOW TRUCK FOR SERVICE.
BOUGHT CAR 2018 FEB . NO MENTION OF WHOLE UNDER CARRIAGE RUSTED OUT - 2004-2008 CHRYSLER FORGOT TO SPRAY FOR RUST. WHEN WE GO WE BOUGHT IT LATER IN EVENING - WAS ASSURED THAT CAR HAD BEEN CHECKED OUT AND SOUND. WE HAVE DONE SOME REPAIRS ON OTHER THINGS - THERMOSTAT , RADIATOR , TIRES ABS SENSOR ISSUE BUT THERE WAS NO MENTION OF UNDERSIDE BEING RUSTED FROM FRONT TO BACK - TWO YEARS AND THE ENGINE IS GOING TO FALL OUT AND CAN NO LONGER DRIVE THE CAR. THIS CAR WAS SUBMERGED IN WATER SOMEWHERE BEFORE WE RECEIVED. THIS IS THE SHORTER VERSION OF THIS SITUATION. ALIGNMENT IS NOW WAY OFF , PULLS TO ONE SIDE OUT OF NOWHERE. WEARING ON TIRES- JUST TOOK IT INTO HEARTLAND TIRE BY HOUSE AND TOLD DO NOT DRIVE AND THAT FIXING IT WOULD BE OVER 3500 OR MORE.

AS IT WOULD SEEM IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM, THE OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT HAS FAILED AND LEAKS OIL ON AND INTO THE HARNESS PLUG. UPON RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE AND CAN PRESENT BOTH A COSTLY FIX AND A FIRE HAZARD. WHILE DRIVING THE OIL PRESSURE WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED INDICATING AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE'S OIL PRESSURE. UPON TAKING IT TO THE SHOP OT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT HAD FAILED AND WAS LEAKING OIL INTO AND ON THE HARNESS PLUG. THE VEHICLE IS SCHEDULED FOR REPAIR TOMORROW. *TR

ALSO, BREAK PEDAL EXPERIENCES A PUSH-BACK, CAUSING TENDENCY TO DRIVE FORWARD. OVER 30 MPH GAS PEDAL DEMANDS MORE COMPRESSION, AND ENGINE MOTION ROARING ALSO SURGES, NO RATTLING. I ALWAYS GOT MY PACIFICA CHECKED AND THE OIL CHANGED ON A REGULAR BASIS AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP. THE LAST TIME I GOT AN OIL CHANGE, THEY ASKED ME TO COME OUT TO LOOK AT THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF MY VEHICLE. THEY SHOWED ME WHERE MY "ENGINE CRADLE" WAS SO RUSTED, THE ENGINE WAS READY TO FALL OUT. I WAS MORTIFIED, BECAUSE I DRIVE ON THE INTERSTATE EVERY DAY. CHRYSLER QUOTED ME A PRICE OF $4000. I DID NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY. THEY DETERMINED THE CAR AS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I WENT HOME AND LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THERE WERE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE LIKE ME WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. CHRYSLER KNEW OF THIS ENGINE CRADLE RUST PROBLEM AND DID NOTHING ABOUT IT. I CALLED THE CORPORATE OFFICE OF CHRYSLER, AND ALL I GOT WAS THE RUN AROUND. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS, MY ENGINE COULD HAVE FALLEN OUT ON THE HIGHWAY. I'M A SENIOR CITIZEN AND DON'T HAVE $4000 FOR A NEW ENGINE CRADLE. CHRYSLER SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE TO RECALL ALL THE CARS WITH THIS RUSTED CRADLE. VERY DANDEROUS, AND CHRYSLER HAS DONE NOTHING TO COMPENSATE THE OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY HAZZARD THAT IS LIFE THREATENING. CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOME ASSISTANCE, THEY SENT ME TO ROSEVILLE CHRYSLER IN ROSEVILLE, MI FOR INSPECTION, UNDER CASE #32879012. SERVICE ADVISOR BRYAN COLLINS TOLD ME THE SAME THING ENGINE CRADLE ROT DUE TO DRIP HOSE DRIPPING ON ENGINE CRADLE. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE SAID NO RECALL ON VEHILCLE AND IT IS OUT OF WARRENTY. MY RESPONSIBILITY FOR REPAIR. I EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS AN ENGINERING DESIGN ERROR AND THE DRIP HOSE SHOULD HAVE BEEN LONG ENOUGH TO ROUTE IT PAST THE ENGINE CRADLE.

THE CROSS MEMBER THAT SUPPORTS THE DRIVE TRAIN IS RUSTED AT THE JOINTS WHERE IT MEETS THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE. THIS AFFECTS BOTH STEERING AND SHIFTING, AS THE MOTOR WILL ACTUALLY SHIFT ON INITIAL PULL OFF; AND BECAUSE THE STEERING IS ANCHORED ON THE SAME MEMBER, LOOSENESS IN THE STEERING WHEEL CAN ALSO BE FELT. I NOTICED THE RUSTING ABOUT A YEAR AGO WHEN I WENT TO DO MY FIRST OIL CHANGE AS THE CAR OWNER. ON 9/12/2017 I WAS RIDING HOME AND HEARD A METALLIC CLANK, AS IF SOMETHING HAD FALLEN OFF OF THE VEHICLE. UPON ARRIVING AT HOME, I LOOKED UNDER THE VEHICLE. YOU CAN SEE THAT THE CROSS MEMBER IS RUSTING AND TWISTING UNDER THE LOAD OF THE ENGINE. I AM LEARY ABOUT DRIVING THE VEHICLE, BUT IT IS MY ONLY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION.

2006 PACIFICA WITH 105,000 MILES. TOOK IN FOR SERVICE AND MECHANIC FOUND BADLY CORRODED ENGINE CRADLE. I CAN PEEL THE RUST AWAY AND PUT MY FINGERS IN THE HOLES AND GAPS IN THE CENTER SUPPORT TIE IN. IN ADDITION TO STRESS CRACKS IN THE LH SIDE OF THE ENGINE SUPPORT. DEALER TOLD ME NO WARRANTY COVERAGE, NO RECALL. CANT AFFORD REPAIR AND CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. FRAME RUSTED OUT AFTER ONLY 11 YEARS OLD!! WHAT HAPPENED TO "MADE IN AMERICA" STOOD FOR QUALITY AND BEING A GOOD THING.
CAR BEGAN TO MAKE LOUD, ABRUPT KNOCKING NOISE FROM RIGHT SIDE, PASSENGER FRONT OF VEHICLE. WE TOOK IT TO THREE SEPARATE REPAIR SHOPS FOR EVALUATION AND AT ALL THREE REPAIRS SHOPS WERE TOLD THAT OUR ENGINE CRADLE WAS SO BADLY ROTTED AND RUSTED THAT THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE. IT WAS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AS THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION CAN BOTH DROP OUT OF THE VEHICLE AT ANY MOMENT WITHOUT WARNING. THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE TO CHRYSLER AND THEY ARE NOT ASSISTING CURRENT OWNERS WITH REPAIR.

I UNDERSTAND THAT CHRYSLER ISN'T COVERING 2006 MODELS EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW THIS IS AN ISSUE. I WAS TOLD CONTINUING TO DRIVE THE CAR WAS DANGEROUS, BUT THIS IS A VERY COSTLY FIX - MORE THAN THE CAR IS WORTH - CONSIDERING CHRYSLER WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR NOT COATING THE ENGINE CRADLE TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING. IT IS AFFECTING STEERING AND HANDLING OF CAR AS WELL.

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE TO DETERMINE IF THEY COULD PROVIDE A SOLUTION AND DETERMINE IF THE SAME OEM PART WAS IN PRODUCTION OR IF A NEW MANUFACTURER DESIGNED THE ENGINE CRADLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

AFTER A FEW MINUTES HE TOLD ME THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS CASE AND UNFORTUNATELY IT DID NOT COVER MY VIN. THEN HE SUGGESTED I CALL CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE TO COMPLAIN AND SEE WHERE IT GETS ME. (NICE). AFTER SPEAKING WITH CHRYSLER AND TOLD THEM THE STORY AND HOW IT BASICALLY RENDERS MY CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE SHE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THERE WAS A WARRANTY FOR A 6 WEEK PERIOD IN 2004 AND I DID NOT QUALIFY. FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED IN A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND BY THIS TIME ENTIRE ENGINE AND HOOD WAS ON FIRE.THEY PUT THE FIRE OUT. CAR WAS NOT ABLE TO BE PLACED IN NEUTRAL OR ANY OTHER GEAR, BUT WAS STILL TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT PERFORMED REPAIRS TO FUEL INJECTORS AND OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE ENGINE ON FEBRUARY 2, 2016. DURING FEB. 2016 INCIDENT THE GAS PEDAL WOULD NOT GIVE POWER TO MAKE THE CAR ACCELERATE, CAR STARTED SMOKING AND GIVING OFF FUMES THAT SMELLED LIKE BURNING PLASTIC. CAR REPAIRS WERE MADE IN THAT INCIDENT. GOING TO HAVE DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED TO RESEARCH IF THERE IS A CONNECTION/RELATION BETWEEN FEBRUARY 2016 INCIDENT AND JUNE 2016 INCIDENT.

FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL THE 900 AND SOMETHING COMPLAINTS IN FORUMS, I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE FIXED. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT MY 2006 PACIFICA SHOULD BE IN THE STALLING RECALL NOTICE AND BE FIXED ALSO. THE CRADLE WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND I COULD STICK MY HAND IN IT. AT ANY POINT IN TIME IT COULD HAVE COMPLETELY FELL OFF AND WRECKED MY VEHICLE. IT COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. NOW WE ARE GOING TO BE STUCK WITH THE REPAIR BILL. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND SPOKE WITH AN AGENT NAMED BRITTNEY WHOSE ONLY RESPONSE WAS I AM SORRY THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO. IN A MATTER OF MONTHS, WE SPENT $5,900 ON REPAIRS AND IN ORDER FOR THE CAR TO PASS INSPECTION. WE WERE STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON THIS CAR AND AFTER CONTACTING CHRYSLER REPEATEDLY, WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE, SO WE WERE FORCED TO MAKE THESE REPAIRS. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH, WE FOUND THAT MANY PACIFICAS HAD MANY OF THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT WE WERE EXPERIENCING AND THAT CHRYSLER REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUES.WE HAVE HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER SEATS, BLUETOOTH , SIDE VIEW MIRRORS. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHORTENS THE LIFE OF THE BATTERY AND WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY PREMATURELY SEVERAL TIMES. NOW WE NEED AN ABS SENSOR, AND THE CAR LEAKS IN THROUGH THE FRONT WINDOW SEALS ON BOTH SIDES WHEN IT RAINS. WE HAVE JUST FOUND OUT WHEN WE HAD THE CAR IN FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, THAT OUR ENGINE CRADLE(SUB FRAME) IS RUSTED AND IS A HAZARD TO DRIVE AND WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $2,500 TO REPLACE! WE JUST MADE OUR LAST PAYMENT ON THIS CAR AS WE FOUND THIS INFORMATION OUT. WE HAVE ALSO FOUND OUT THAT MANY PACIFICAS HAVE THIS RUSTING PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER DID ACKNOWLEDGE THIS FOR 2004 & 2005 MODELS BUT NOT AFTER. THE ESTIMATED TIME FRAME I WAS GIVEN IS BETWEEN 6-12 MONTHS. IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT I DRIVE LOCAL ONLY AND HAVE IT REINSPECTED EVERY THREE MONTHS FOR MY SAFETY. I TOOK MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I COULDN'T PASS THE IL EMISSIONS TEST. I WAS TOLD THAT MY SUBFRAME WAS VERY RUSTED AND HOLES WERE IN IT. LIKE OTHER EARLY MODEL CHRYSLER PACIFICAS NOTED ON THE NHTSA SITE- MY VEHICLE WAS TAKEN INTO FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THE SHOP INFORMED ME THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE ENGINE CRADLE/ SUBFRAME BEING RUSTED/ROTTED OUT SO BADLY YOU COULD SEE THROUGH IT. THEY SAID THAT IF A LARGE ENOUGH BUMP WAS ROLLED OVER, THE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT AND A SERIOUS ACCIDENT COULD OCCUR AS THE VEHICLE WOULD MORE THAN LIKELY LOSE CONTROL. I AM NOW AFRAID TO ALLOW MY WIFE AND 2 SMALL CHILDREN TO DRIVE IN IT FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME. THE CONTACT HAD EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL FAILURES AND THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE OR DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO REMOVE ALL KEYS FROM THE KEY RING EXCEPT FOR THE FOB AND KEYS. THE DEALER ALSO REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE AIR BAG SENSOR CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE AND THE LOCAL AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED SEVERAL TIMES OF THE FAILURE, WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE AIR BAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE AIR BAG SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000.

CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE TOLD US TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO CHRYSLER BECAUSE IT IS COVERED UNDER THE SAFETY RECALL WARRANTY FOR 10 YEARS. WHEN WE TOOK THE CAR IN WE LEARNED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE IS CORRODING ANOTHER RECALL X26. THE DEALER TOLD US IT WOULD COST A COUPLE OF THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPAIR. ADDITIONALLY, WE WERE TOLD THAT WE NEED TWO NEW FUEL PUMPS AND THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED BY THE F44 RECALL BECAUSE OUR 2006 CAR IS OUTSIDE OF THE 2004 - 2005 MODEL YEAR RECALL TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMPS. WE PAID THE DEALER THE COST OF THE SERVICE CHARGE $103 FOR THE INFORMATION AND WERE TOLD WE MIGHT CONSIDER BUYING A NEW CAR. A COUPLE OF CALLS TO CHRYSLER CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE HAS FALLEN ON DEAF EARS. THE DEALER AND CHRYSLER ARE NOT BUDGING. DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, A MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS SEVERE RUST (50%) TO THE SUPPORT SYSTEM HOLDING UP THE ENGINE ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE. THE CAR ONLY HAS 84,000 MILES. HE SAID THAT IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, THAT, IF NOT REPAIRED, WOULD EVENTUALLY BREAK WAY AND THE ENGINE WOULD DROP OUT OF THE SUPPORT SYSTEM. WHEN I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CARE, THE INTAKE OPERATOR BASICALLY READ FROM A SCRIPT AND STATED THAT MY VEHICLE WASN'T COVERED IN THE RECALL, EVEN THOUGH THE SAME PART WAS AFFECTED, AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO TO ASSIST ME. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, I FOUND OVER 700 OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS THE THIRD CHRYSLER THAT I HAVE OWNED (AND MY SECOND PACIFICA) WITH 100% SATISFACTION UNTIL THIS POINT. I SPENT OVER $800.00 HAVING A BUNCH OF CODES CLEARED WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND OTHER THINGS. THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS OFF FOR A FEW DAYS BUT CAME BACK ON. THERE WAS AN ERROR THAT READ GAS CAP. I REPLACED THE GAS CAP BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON. IN MARCH 2014 THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON, I WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE CALIBERS BUT LATER WAS TOLD THAT I DIDN'T. I HAD SOMEONE ELSE TO CHECK AND THEY SAID THAT I NEEDED NEW FRONT BRAKES. I HAD THOSE REPLACED. ON 4/7/2014, I WAS LEAVING THE PARKING GARAGE AT THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE AND THE GAS PEDAL WAS STUCK. NEXT AND BIGGEST ISSUE OFF ALL IS THAT WHILE DRIVING DOWN OUR STREET I HEARD A NOISE THAT CONCERNED ME. WHEN I GOT HOME THERE WAS A TAPPING UNDER THE HOOD, THE TAPPING HAS BEEN CONTINUOUS SINCE THEN. THE ORIGINAL MILEAGE AT THAT TIME WAS 85,625 MILES. AFTER MULTIPLE TRIPS TO SEVERAL DIFFERENT MECHANICS IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS A TAPPING LIFTER. WELL THIS IS A VERY VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR. SO EASIEST THING FOR US TO DO IS TO TRADE IN OUR CAR....NOT THE CASE. OUR CAR NOW HAS NO TRADE-IN VALUE BECAUSE OF THE LIFTER ISSUE.
