TAKATA RECALL IN THE CARS MILAGE INDICATOR I RECEIVED A MESSAGE READING GAS CAP ALONG WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THEN I NOTICED MY FUEL RANGE AND GAUGE WOULD READ 200 MILES TO EMPTY AT 1/2 A TANK OF FUEL TO 23 MILES TO EMPTY WITH THE GAUGE BEING IN THE RED, WHEN I WAS DRIVING TO TOWN... WE JUST HAD BOTH FUEL PUMPS REPLACED BECAUSE THE UPPER FUEL PUMP WOULDN'T PUMP THE FUEL OVER TO THE LOWER FUEL TANK THIS CAR ONLY HAS 100,000 MILES ON IT AND WE'VE ALREADY DROPPED $900.00 TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED ONLY TO HAVE ANOTHER PROBLEM OCCUR... I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL GAUGE. THE FUEL GAUGE WILL READ FULL AND WHEN THE FUEL GAUGE GETS TO HALF A TANK THE GAUGE DROPS TO EMPTY. ALSO WHILE FILLING THE TANK THE NOZZLE FROM THE GAS PUMPS WILL ALWAYS CUT OFF, IT WILL PUMP A FEW DOLLARS AND THEN STOP AND YOU HAVE TO PUMP THE FUEL IN VERY SLOW. I HAVE CHANGED THE FUEL PUMP IN THE TANK THREE TIMES AND THE GAS TANK TWICE. NOTHING WORKS THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM NOW FOR ABOUT TWO YEARS. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED ON THE ROAD DUE TO THE FUEL GAUGE DROPPING TO EMPTY AND IT IS VERY SCARY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK GAUGE WOULD NOT INDICATE THE FUEL LEVEL PROPERLY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL EVEN THOUGH THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL. THE VAPE LEAK AND ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED THE VALVE, SOLENOID AND A NEW FUEL CAP HOWEVER THE FAILURE REOCCURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 195,000.

CAR ENGINE SOMETIMES SHUTS OFF WHEN DOING LEFT HAND TURNS, THE ENGINE LOOSES COMPLETE POWER WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I HAVE TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO PARK TO TURN IT BACK ON. THERE ARE EVAP CODES ON BUT THE CHECK ENGINE DOES NOT TURN ON FOR THESE CODES, SMELL OF UN-BURNT FUEL SOMETIMES MAKES IT IN THE CABIN. THANKFULLY THE STALL HAS NOT HAPPENED WITH CARS COMING TOWARDS ME. THE GAS CAP WARNING ON CONTINUOUSLY EVEN THOUGH I HAVE PURCHASED MANY NEW OEM GAS CAPS. THIS MAY BE RELATED TO: NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 04V113000, 06V432000, NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA06013, I INFORMED CHRYSLER BUT THEY SAID MY VIN IS NOT IN THE CURRENT RECALLS AND WAS REFERRED TO CONTACT NHTSA. MY PACIFICA HAS ALSO DEVELOPED A TICKING NOISE THAT HAS REDUCED THE GAS MILEAGE AND ENGINE POWER WHICH I BELIEVE THIS TO BE PART OF AN INTERNAL RECALL WHICH AGAIN CHRYSLER SAYS MY VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF EVEN THOUGH MY VIN MATCHES THE SPECIFICATIONS BELOW: CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NOTIFICATION F35 ENGINE CONNECTING ROD BEARING DEBRIS EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, ALL REPAIRS ON INVOLVED VEHICLES ARE TO BE PERFORMED ACCORDING TO THIS NOTIFICATION. I CAN'T COMPLETELY FILL MY FUEL TANK. AT 1/2 TANK IT BOTTOMS OUT TO EMPTY. THE FUEL GAUGE IS COMPLETELY UNRELIABLE.WHEN MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN WHEN THE FUEL IS LOW IT WILL STALL AND SPUTTER. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH THAT THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM CHANGED THE FUEL PUMP RIGHT AFTER I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE I RAN OUT OF FUEL ON A TRIP TO OHIO FROM ILLINOIS BUT IT DIDN'T FIX THE ISSUE. I ONLY DRIVE IT IN TOWN BECAUSE I'M AFRAID OF RUNNING OUT OF FUEL. APPARENTLY THIS IS VERY COMMON WITH THIS VEHICLE AND I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. THIS ISSUE COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, SOMEONE TO BE STRANDED IN EXTREME COLD/HEAT. IT'S UNRELIABLE AND A MAJOR THREAT TO SOMEONE'S SAFETY. CHRYSLER SHOULD BE ASHAMED.

THE ODOR WAS MAKING THE CONTACT ILL AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONCENTRATE WHILE DRIVING. MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA SEEMS TO HAVE SOME VERY COMMON AND RELATED ISSUES TO AN EXISTING RECALL. MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCES ALL KIND OF ISSUES RELATED TO A FAULTY FUEL PUMP/TANK DESIGN AND POSSIBLY SOFTWARE ISSUES ALSO. MY VEHICLE CAN BE VERY HARD TO START. MY VEHICLE CAN SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. (NO OTHER KNOWN ISSUES) MY VEHICLE TENDS TO THINK THE GAS CAP IS BAD. DISPLAYING GASCAP IN THE ODOMETER AREA. WE EXPERIENCE POWER LOSS, STALLS, POOR FUEL ECONOMY, FUEL CAPOR SMELL ON OCCASION THAT COULD IGNITE, IF FOR ANY REASON THE FUEL SYSTEM IS SLIGHTLY OVERFILLED BY EVEN TEN CENTS WORTH OF FUEL IT CAN POOR FUEL ONTO THE GROUND. THIS HAPPENS ON TOP OF THE TANK. NOT AT THE FILLER HOSE. CHECK ENGIN LIGHT CODE POINTS TO EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN AUGUST 2005. I BELIEVE THE FUEL PUMP MODULE IS BAD AS WELL AS POSSIBLY SOFTWARE. IF YOU DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH YOU WILL FIND THIS CAR IS KNOW TO HAVE EVAP SYSTEM AND FUEL SYSTEM ISSUES. LOTS OF THEM. ONE THAT COMES TO MIND IS A CONNECTOR ON THE PUMP OR MODEL CRACKING AND ALLOWING FUEL /AIR TO ESCAPE. I AM TERRIFIED MY CAR MIGHT BLOW UP WITH MY CHILDREN IN IT. I CAN'T GIVE EXACT DATES BECAUSE THIS HAPPENS ALL OF THE TIME. EVAP CODES RETURN, FUEL SMELLS, POOR ENGINE PERFORMANCE POWER LOSS, IF IT DOES SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING IT BECOMES HARD TO STEER. ETC ETC

SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE (2013) THERE HAVE BEEN PROBLEMS WITH GETTING THE CAR RUNNING AGAIN. FIRST WHILE IN MOTION THE VEHICLE WOULD TREMOR (IN THE FRONT) BEFORE SHUTTING DOWN, PARTICULARLY IF GOING ABOVE 25-30 MPH. WHEN THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF BY KEY IGNITION AND TURNED BACK ON IT WOULD START AGAIN. CODES FOR OXYGEN SENSOR WOULD COME UP, HAD THAT FIXED. PROBLEM BEGAN AGAIN A FEW MONTHS LATER. MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY/OPEN ROAD THE SENSORS ON THE PANEL ALL LITE UP AND THE CAR SHUT DOWN. I HAD THE ALTERNATOR REPLACED TWICE FOR THIS ISSUE; THINKING THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. PRIOR TO THE SECOND ALTERNATOR REBUILD/REPLACEMENT THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD FLUCTUATE AFTER REACHING HALF A TANK. MOST OF THE TIME IT WOULD READ EMPTY WHEN THE TANK WAS HALF FULL; OR EMPTY WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. I NOTICED THE GAUGE WOULD DROP IF A TURN WAS MADE OR THE CAR HIT A BUMP/POT HOLE IN THE CITY STREET/HIGHWAY. I ATTEMPTED TO REPLICATE CONDITIONS TO GET THE GAUGE TO GO BACK TO NORMAL, THIS DID NOT ALWAYS WORK.OCCASIONALLY IT WOULD WAVE AROUND WHILE DRIVING. THE CAR BEGAN TO READ CODE FOR FUEL SYSTEM ISSUES. HAD THIS TESTED, FUEL SYSTEM WAS FINE; YET PROBLEM CONSISTED. WITH A HALF FULL TANK, THE CAR WOULD REPEATEDLY READ EMPTY, NOT ALLOW ANY ADDITIONAL GAS TO BE PUT INTO THE TANK (WOULD CUT OFF AT PUMP AS IF TANK WERE FULL), AND SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING IN DIFFERENT ROAD CONDITIONS AS IF THERE WERE NO GAS IN THE CAR. RIGHT NOW THE GAS GAUGE CONTINUES TO READ EMPTY WHEN THERE IS GAS IN THE TANK, I HAVE TROUBLE FILLING THE TANK AS IT CUTS OFF THE PUMP REPEATEDLY NOT ALLOWING NEW GAS TO BE PUT IN, THE CAR CUTS OFF OFTEN WHILE DRIVING.

RECCALL F44 (FUEL PUMP MODULE). THIS RECALL WAS FOR REPAIR/REPLACE OF MODULE DUE TO FACT THAT PACIFICA CARS STALL WITH FAULTY UNIT. MY CAR HAS STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES. I TOOK TO DEALER AS INSTRUCTED BY RECALL LETTER. THE DEALER SAID THEY MADE REPAIR. MY VEHICLE CONTINUES TO STALL. DEALER WOULD NOT REPLACE PART AGAIN. I AM STUCK WITH A VEHICLE I CANNOT DRIVE BECAUSE IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE.

AFTER BEING PARKED FOR 4 HOURS WE NOTICED THE CAR WAS SMOKING. I CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WHO DISCOVERED THAT THE INSULATION AND THE ENGINE WAS SMOLDERING. IT IS NOW AT EXCALIBUR BEING LOOKED AT. I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET WHEN THIS HAPPENED. WHEN WE DISCOVERED THE CAR WAS SMOKING, IT HAD BEEN PARKED FOR FOUR HOURS.

ENTERED THE FREEWAY AND AFTER REACHING SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 55-60 MPH I HEARD A LOUD SOUND THAT SOUNDED LIKE A SMALL EXPLOSION. SOMEONE DRIVING IN THE LANE NEXT TO ME BEGAN FRANTICALLY POINTING AT THE ENGINE OF MY CAR. IMMEDIATELY I SAW SMOKE AND FLAMES COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR'S HOOD. I PULLED OFF THE EXIT THAT I WAS APPROACHING, PARKED THE CAR AT THE CURB, JUMPED OUT THE CAR, DIALED 911. FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED IN A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND BY THIS TIME ENTIRE ENGINE AND HOOD WAS ON FIRE.THEY PUT THE FIRE OUT. CAR WAS NOT ABLE TO BE PLACED IN NEUTRAL OR ANY OTHER GEAR, BUT WAS STILL TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT PERFORMED REPAIRS TO FUEL INJECTORS AND OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE ENGINE ON FEBRUARY 2, 2016. DURING FEB. 2016 INCIDENT THE GAS PEDAL WOULD NOT GIVE POWER TO MAKE THE CAR ACCELERATE, CAR STARTED SMOKING AND GIVING OFF FUMES THAT SMELLED LIKE BURNING PLASTIC. CAR REPAIRS WERE MADE IN THAT INCIDENT. GOING TO HAVE DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED TO RESEARCH IF THERE IS A CONNECTION/RELATION BETWEEN FEBRUARY 2016 INCIDENT AND JUNE 2016 INCIDENT.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY A MONTH AND A HALF. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.

RECENTLY WHEN STOPPED IT WILL IDLE HIGH THEN SPUTTER AS IF IT WANTS TO SHUT OFF, SOMETIMES IT DOES. I KNOW THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR VEHICLES MADE UP TO THE DATE NOVEMBER 2004. MINE WAS MANUFACTURED MAY 2005, SHOULD THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE EVEN THOUGH MINE WAS MANUFACTURED ONE YEAR LATER AND STILL CAN HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM? JUST A NOTE, I HAVE YOUNG KIDS IN MY CAR. ANOTHER PROBLEM IS THE ENGINE, IN RESEARCHING I NOTICES THAT THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT RUSTING ENGINE MOUNTS OR BREAKING OF ENGINE MOUNTS. AS MAY COMPLAINTS THAT I HAVE READ, I BELIEVE THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. I HAVE AN ENGINE MOUNT THAT IS RUSTED AND WORN OUT. FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL THE 900 AND SOMETHING COMPLAINTS IN FORUMS, I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE FIXED. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT MY 2006 PACIFICA SHOULD BE IN THE STALLING RECALL NOTICE AND BE FIXED ALSO. MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA KEEPS SENDING A MESSAGE SAYING GAS PUMP, AND THEN MY FUEL GAUGE KEEPS DROPPING TO E EVEN AFTER I JUST FILLED IT UP. I HAVE REPLACED THE GAS CAP AND I AM STILL GETTING THE MESSAGE SAYING SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE GAS CAP, AND THE GAUGE KEEPS DROPPING. SO ONCE AGAIN THIS CAR IS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE FUEL PUMP SYSTEM. I HAVE A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA (86616) AND ONE DAY WHEN DRIVING MY CAR JUST STALLED OUT AND WOULD NOT START FOR QUITE SOME TIME. I TOOK IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP HERE IN BAYTOWN AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PLASTIC EVAP LINE MAY HAVE BROKEN DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW OF THE LINE BEING NOT ONLY TOO SHORT BUT ALSO MADE OF A HARDEN PLASTIC THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE RUBBER INSTEAD. I WAS LUCK ENOUGH TO BE BY MYSELF BUT IF I HAD MY GOD DAUGHTER IN THE CAR WITH ME IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WORST OR I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. ROCKER ARM FAILURE, REQUIRING REPLACEMENT ON BOTH SIDES. SEARCHED INTERNET AND IS A KNOWN FAILURE WITH MANY PACIFICA CONSUMERS. RESPONSIBLE CAR MANUFACTURER SHOULD HAVE RECALLED. SAFETY HAZARD PRIMARY FUEL PUMP CRACK ON EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP NOZZLE. EXTERNAL HOSE CONNECTING PRIMARY AND SECONDARY FUEL PUMPS ORIGINAL MANUFACTURE WAS ~3-5 CM TOO SHORT. HOSE WAS STRETCHED TO CONNECT FUEL PUMPS, EVENTUALLY CAUSING THE CONNECTOR NOZZLE TO CRACK (BREAK) AND LEAK FUEL. HOSE REPLACEMENT PART HAS BEEN MODIFIED, BUT OWNERS OF ORIGINAL MANUFACTURE WOULD NEVER BE AWARE OF THIS UNTIL/UNLESS SPECIFIC SERVICE IS PERFORMED. RESULT = COSTLY REPAIR TO REPLACE BOTH FUEL PUMP AND HOSE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE ISSUE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEIR VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06V432000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM, PCM)). ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THEN THE GASCAP LIGHT CAME ON. WAS TIME FOR INSPECTION AND NATURALLY IT FAILED. IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO REPAIR SHOP, THEY CHECKED IT OVER AND JUST REPLACED THE GASCAP. ALL LIGHTS WERE OFF SO TOOK IT BACK FOR INSPECTION. IT PASSED AMAZINGLY. LATER THAT DAY, THE GASCAP LIGHT CAME BACK ON. DROVE A NUMBER OF MONTHS WITH LIGHT ON KNOWING IT WAS A NEW GASCAP AND IT NEEDED A SMOKE TEST TO FIND THE LEAK. HAD ALTERNATOR REPLACED AND ALSO A NEW RIGHT SIDE FUEL PUMP WITH THE FUEL HOSE FROM VENT ON PRIMARY TO FUEL PUMP VENT NIPPLE ON OTHER SIDE. THEY WERE AMAZED THAT I HADN'T SMELLED FUEL LEAKING. ALSO AMAZED THERE WAS NO FIRE. THIS IS A SERIOUS FAULT AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY CHRYSLER AFTER READING ALL THE OTHER SAME PROBLEMS. PLEASE CHRYSLER, DO THE RIGHT THING!! *TR

MY 2006 PACIFICA WILL GO FROM A HALF A TANK OF FUEL TO NO FUEL IN A MATTER OF MINUTES. THIS HAS LEFT US STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD A NUMBER OF TIMES, SOMETIMES IN VERY DANGEROUS PLACES WITH MY TWO CHILDREN IN THE CAR. THE SADDLE TANK IS A VERY BAD DESIGN, WITH THE TRANSFER PUMP. WHEN WE ARE STRANDED ON THE ROAD SIDE, IF YOU CRAWL UNDER THE CAR ONE SIDE OF THE TANK IS HOLLOW EMPTY AND THE OTHER SIDE IS COMPLETELY FULL, YET WE ARE WAITING ON SOMEONE TO BRING US GAS. WHEN YOU TRY TO REFUEL THE CAR IT WILL ONLY TAKE 3 OR 4 GALLONS BEFORE THE PUMP SHUTS OFF. TO FINISH YOU HAVE TO ALMOST TRICKLY THE GAS IN THE VERY TOP OF THE FILLER TUBE. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MINE WAS THE FIRST COMPLAINT THEY HAD HEARD ABOUT THIS, I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT, AFTER READING ALL THE ONLINE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 06 PACIFICAS. MY DEALERSHIP CAN TELL ME ANYTHING THAT WILL FOR SURE FIX ALL THE PROBLEMS. I DONT WANT TO PAY FOR ALL THE GUESSING WORK, WHEN SO MANY OTHER PACIFICA OWNER ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. 8TT
