PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2013, INQUIRED ABOUT DEFECTS AND RECALLS BUT WAS TOLD THERE WAS NONE. VEHICLE HAD 46,000 MILES ON IT AT TIME OF PURCHASE 104K PRESENTLY. GOOD RUNNING VEHICLE UP TO PAR ON MAINTENANCE, WHICH ALL GOES TO WASTE WITH A ROTTED SUBFRAME. RESEARCHED 100'S POSSIBLY 1000'S OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE WITH THE SAME ISSUE, WHERE WAS MENTIONED NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT IT. CONTACTED CHRYSLER MYSELF TO PUT IN COMPLAINT AND AGENT WOULD NOT EVEN FORWARD IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL BECAUSE THE LACK OF RECALL OR EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE COST FOR A NEW FRAME FROM A CHRYSLER DEALER IS OVER 2K AND COST JUST AS MUCH TO REPLACE. BUT THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER FOR WEEKS. (COULD THIS MEAN THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE IN LINE WAITING TO ORDER AND NEEDING THIS PARTICULAR PART?) CANNOT TRUST USED PARTS BECAUSE OF MANY CHRYSLER PACIFICA OWNERS HAD TO SALVAGE THEIR VEHICLE FOR THE SAME REASON. MORE OF AN INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE DONE INTO THIS. IN THE MIDST OF A PANDEMIC WHO CAN AFFORD THESE OUTRAGEOUS, UNEXPECTED REPAIR COSTS OR EVEN A NEW VEHICLE. MY ONLY OPTION IS TO SALVAGE IT FOR WAY LESS THAT IT'S WORTH, AS I MENTIONED IT DRIVE GREAT! I CANNOT SELL IT TO ANYONE ELSE KNOWING THE SAFETY HAZARD IT HAS ON IT AND I CANNOT AFFORD A CAR PAYMENT. I AM FEARFUL OF MY ENGINE FALLING OUT OF THE BOTTOM IF I DRIVE IT. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE, TOO MANY VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ISSUE. FORCE A RECALL ON CHRYSLER FOR THEIR ROTTED SUBFRAMES.
NOTICED A LOT OF CLUNKING COMING FROM THE FRONT OF OUR 2006 PACIFICA. LOOKED UNDER VEHICLE AND NOTICED RUST AND HOLES IN THE ENGINE CRADLE. TOOK TO MY MECHANIC, HE CONFIRMED THE ENGINE CRADLE IS ABOUT TO FAIL. I CONTACTED BURGER CHRYSLER IN TERRE HAUTE IN. THEY STATED VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER ANY RECALL OR SAFETY NOTICE. AND FIXING IT WOULD BE OUT OF MY POCKET. I RESEARCHED THE VEHICLE ON THE NHTSA WEB SITE. NEED LESS TO SAY I'M ASHAMED TO OWN ONE. CHRYSLER WILL NOT STAND BEHIND WHAT THEY MESS UP.

THE ENGINE CRADLE ON MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA TOURING IS ALMOST COMPLETELY RUSTED AND CRACKED THROUGH. I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC BECAUSE IT WAS SHAKING AND BUCKING AND WAS TOLD TO STOP DRIVING IT BECAUSE ONE MORE BUMP COULD BREAK THE CRADLE CAUSING MY ENGINE TO DROP. IT WILL COST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPLACE IT. MORE THAN THE CAR IS WORTH.

THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND CALLED ED MARTIN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (2109 E 53RD ST, ANDERSON, IN 46013) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND WAS REFERRED TO THE MANUFACTURER FOR ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 190,000.

MY CAR WAS BUILT IN 2005 WHEN THE SUBFRAME RECALL WAS ISSUED, I CALLED THEM TO TRY AND GET SOME HELP, BASICALLY GET REIMBURSED FOR THE LABOR OF GETTING THE REPLACEMENT SUBFRAME INSTALLED. THE OLD SUBFRAME FINALLY BROKE WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT CITY SPEEDS AND I WAS LUCKY THAT THE SHOP I USED LET ME KNOW. WHEN I CONTACTED THEM, THE STATEMENT WAS THAT DUE TO THE AGE AND CURRENT MILEAGE OF THE CAR, WE CAN NOT HELP YOU. NOW IF I HAD OF BEEN ON A ROAD TRIP OR DRIVING AT THE SPEED LIMIT THIS WOULD HAVE CAUSE SOME SERIOUS DAMAGE. WHEN MOVING FROM THE HUMID EAST TO THE DESERT WEST ALL CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS AND MOTOR MOUNTS DRIED UP AND CRACKED CAUSING OVER THE COURSE OF A FEW WEEK TRACTIONS PROBLEMS MADE WORSE WHEN GETTING NEW TIRES AND AFTER FISHTAILING IN THE RAIN I BROUGHT IT TO A MECHANIC THAT FOUND THAT ALL RUBBER COMPONENTS HAD DRIED UP. I ENDED UP HAVING TO CHANGE ALL CONTROL ARMS AND MOTOR MOUNTS WHICH WHERE ALL CRACKED AND BROKEN.

THAT THE METAL WAS NOT TREATED PROPERLY TO STOP THE METAL FROM CORRODING AND THE POSSIBILITY OF THE ENGINE FALLING OR STEERING COMPROMISED ,I WAS INSTRUCTED BY CHRYSLER IN DETROIT MICHIGAN TO TAKE THE AUTOMOBILE TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP ZIEGLERS IN SCHAUMBURG IL 60172 , TO HAVE A DEALER LOOK AT IT , AND THE DEALER WANTS TO CHARGE ME ALMOST $150.00 BECAUSE THEY WANT A CASE # FIRST BUT THE PEOPLE WE TALKED TO AT CHRYSLER IN DETROIT , NOELOYN AND ANGELICA AT 1-800-247-9753 SAID THEY WERE JUST GOING TO MAKE A NOTATION OF IT . THIS PROBLEM BECAME KNOWN TO MYSELF WHEN THE TEMP DROPPED BELOW 20 DEGREES AROUND NEW YEAR DAY , DRIVING . I HEARD AND FELT LIKE SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE SUSPENSION . I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC , WHO THEN REFERRED ME TO A BODY SHOP ,ELMARS ON NORTH AVE IN GLENDALE HEIGHTS ,IL 60139 WHO SAID THE CHASSIE PART UNDER THE ENGINE WAS NOT COATED TO STOP IT FROM DETERIORATING, BUT IT IS SO BAD , TO NOT DRIVE IT . THE ENGINE MIGHT FALL OUT AND THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR PACIFICAS FROM THE YEARS BEFORE FOR THE SAME DEFAULT

AND YEP SAW IT FOR MYSELF. BOTH SIDES OF FRAME ROTTED OUT WITH VISIBLE HOLES. WAS TOLD SOMETHING ALONG THE LINES OF THERE ARE CRACKS OR SEAMS WHICH ALLOWED WATER AND JUNK IN BUT NO WHERE FOR IT TO EXIT. WAS QUOTED $1600 TO REPLACE. VERY UPSET AS WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS OUT OF POCKET AND VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE OTHER THEN VERY SHORT DISTANCES UNTIL WE CAN AFFORD TO FIX IT. ALSO WE ARE THINKING 2 FRONT TIRES ARE OUT OF TREAD AND NEED REPLACED WAS/IS CAUSED FROM THE SUB FRAME BEING DEFECTIVE AND THROWING VEHICLE TIRES OUT OF BALANCE. SO AS WELL, WE HAVE TO PURCHASE 2 NEW TIRES. FIX I

HE SAID THE SUB FRAME THAT SUPPORTS THE ENGINE WAS ROTTED OUT AND READY TO FAIL. I WAS ADVISED NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR IN THIS CONDITION.I WAS GIVEN A QUOTE OF AROUND $3,000.00 TO FIX IT. I'VE BEEN DRIVING FOR OVER 50 YEARS AND NEVER HEARD OF ANY CAR EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM.

IN ADDITION TO STRESS CRACKS IN THE LH SIDE OF THE ENGINE SUPPORT. DEALER TOLD ME NO WARRANTY COVERAGE, NO RECALL. CANT AFFORD REPAIR AND CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. FRAME RUSTED OUT AFTER ONLY 11 YEARS OLD!! WHAT HAPPENED TO "MADE IN AMERICA" STOOD FOR QUALITY AND BEING A GOOD THING.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2016 THE ENGINE CRADLE RUSTED THROUGH AND THE ENGINE LOWERED AND THE CRADLE ITSELF WAS DRAGGING ALONG THE STREET. MY WIFE WAS LEAVING OUR TOWN OF OWOSSO, MICHIGAN TO GO TO DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS IN LANSING, MICHIGAN ABOUT 35 MILES AWAY. THE PACIFICA HAD 119,101 MILES ON IT AND WAS OTHERWISE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. WE HAD PURCHASED THE CAR FROM A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP ABOUT 15 MILES AWAY ABOUT SEVEN YEARS PRIOR WITH 42,000 MILES ON IT. IT HAD ALWAYS BEEN SERVICED AT THE DEALERSHIP UNTIL THE DEALERSHIP WAS SOLD IN FEBRUARY 2016. WITHOUT REPAIR THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE WAS JUST SCRAP METAL, REPAIR WAS AN ABSOLUTE TO SALVAGE ANY VALUE, THE REPAIR COST $3214.07. *TR

HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE IS IN GREAT CONDITION GARAGE KEPT ALL OF ITS LIFE UNLESS DRIVING, NO SURFACE RUST,ETC ETC. BASICALLY A GREAT CAR. I WENT TO GET THE OIL CHANGED AND THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME BY THE WAY THERE IS A BIG RUT HOLE IN THE SUB FRAME AND YOU MIGHT WANT TO HAVE THAT LOOKED AT. HE ALSO STATED IT LOOKS STRANGE BECAUSE THE REST OF THE CAR IS IN SUCH GREAT SHAPE. I HAD NEW STRUTS AND TIE ROD INSTALLED ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO SO I TOOK IT IN THERE TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT NEXT. I WAS THEN TOLD THIS IS AMAZING, BUT WE HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE ON THESE CHRYSLER PACIFICAS! (RED FLAG). THEY TOLD ME TO CHECK WITH THE DEALER BECAUSE THERE IS PROBABLY A RECALL ON IT. I THEN CALLED THE DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. THE SERVICE TECH TOLD ME HE KNOWS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT AND TOOK MY VIN NUMBER OVER THE PHONE. AFTER A FEW MINUTES HE TOLD ME THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS CASE AND UNFORTUNATELY IT DID NOT COVER MY VIN. THEN HE SUGGESTED I CALL CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE TO COMPLAIN AND SEE WHERE IT GETS ME. (NICE). AFTER SPEAKING WITH CHRYSLER AND TOLD THEM THE STORY AND HOW IT BASICALLY RENDERS MY CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE SHE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THERE WAS A WARRANTY FOR A 6 WEEK PERIOD IN 2004 AND I DID NOT QUALIFY. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS ARTICLES ON THE INTERNET NOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND POSSIBLE CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I DRIVE AROUND WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND THIS THING IS A TIME BOMB AND CHRYSLER NEEDS TO ADMIT THERE IS A PROBLEM AND WARN ALL CURRENT OWNERS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR KILLED!

CHRYSLER HAS ONLY REPAIR ROUGHLY 7,000 VEHICLES MADE IS 2004 DURING A ONE MONTH PERIOD. THIS IS A MODEL/YEAR WIDE PROBLEM. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT CURRENTLY PENDING.

ENTIRE CRADLE, I.E. SUB-FRAME CORRODED. NEVER RECEIVED RECALL. OWNED VEHICLE SINCE 2007. ESTIMATE OF REPAIRS OF $5,000.00.

REPAIR ESTIMATES RANGE FROM $3300 TO OVER $4000. THE CAR IS LESS THAN 10 YEARS OLD AND UNDER 100K MILES. NO HELP FROM THE MANUFACTURER. MANY OTHERS WITH THE SAME SITUATION. THIS COULD BE A POTENTIAL LIFE THREATENING SITUATION FOR MYSELF AND MY FAMILY. CAR IS WORTH AS MUCH AS THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE MADE TO MAKE THIS RIGHT. BAD PRODUCT. EVEN PARTIAL HELP WITH THE REPAIRS WOULD HELP. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN "AMERICAN MADE".

THIS PROBLEM HAS GAINED NATIONAL ATTENTION FOR AT LEAST TWO YEARS YET CHRYSLER HAS CHOSEN NOT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR A MANUFACTURING DEFECT; NAMELY INADEQUATE ANTI-CORROSION COATING THICKNESS. I SPOKE TO A CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVE TODAY AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE WITH THE $3,050 REPAIR/REPLACEMENT COST OF THIS FAILED COMPONENT. I HAVE ALL OF MY VEHICLE SERVICE DONE AT A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. I'VE HAD THEM INSPECT FOR THIS DEFECT IN THE PAST BUT THERE WERE PREVIOUSLY NO REPORTED ISSUES. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN FOR ROUTINE OIL CHANGE YESTERDAY, THE MECHANIC WARMED ME OF THE NOW OBVIOUSLY UNSAFE SITUATION. IN FACT, I NORMALLY PURCHASE A MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP THAT LASTS TWO YEARS. THEY DECLINED TO SELL ME THE CONTRACT SITING THAT THE ENGINE COULD POSSIBLY FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE WITHIN THAT TIME. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT CHRYSLER COULDN'T EVEN OFFER TO DISCOUNT THIS SIZABLE REPAIR BILL. I'VE FOUND NUMEROUS NEWS STORIES ONLINE ABOUT THIS EXACT SAME SAFETY ISSUE OCCURRING AROUND THE US YET NOTHING SEEMS TO BE DONE ABOUT IT. WHY?

A FEW WEEKS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED, I NOTICED MY REAR TIRE LEANING OUTWARD. TOOK IT TOO THE SHOP A FEW TIMES WONDERING WHAT WAS THE CAUSE. IT WAS DETERMINED FROM A DEALERSHIP IT WAS THE STRUTS. I WAS TOLD THE PACIFICA WAS KNOWN FOR IT. SO I HAD THE STRUTS REPLACED. IT HELPED BUT THE TIRE WAS STILL LEANING, IT WASN'T PERFECT LIKE THE REST. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO OTHER REASON BECAUSE EVERYTHING LOOKED GOOD UNDERNEATH AND SUSPENSION. I LOOKED SEVERAL TIMES, MYSELF. NOT SEEING ANY MAJOR RUST OR ANYTHING UNSAFE. THEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY 150 MILE'S FROM HOME, AT 70 MPH, A HARD BANG AND THE REAR END LIFTED UP AND DROPPED DOWN. CAR UNCONTROLLABLE. FINALLY ABLE TO STOP AND REALIZE THE SUBFRAME DROPPED RIGHT OUT OF THE CAR LEAVING MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL ON THE GROUND. IT HAD RUSTED FROM THE TOP OF THE SUBFRAME DOWN. I WAS RUSHED OUT OF THE SEVICE AREA AFTER BEING HANDED THE BILL. NO TALK ABOUT HOW THE CRADLE WAS MANUFACTURED POORLY, ONLY THAT I COULD SPRAY SOME TYPE OF RUST INHIBITOR ON THE EFFECTED AREAS. CHRYSLER HAS HAD MY THREE YOUNG CHILDREN AND WIFE SITTING IN A CAR THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THEM SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. SIMULTANEOUSLY, WE CAME UP WITH CODES P0700, P0420 AND P0456 AND HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT , THE CATALYST CONVERTER REPLACED AND NEW FUEL PUMP DUE TO THE EVAP LEAK. IN A MATTER OF MONTHS, WE SPENT $5,900 ON REPAIRS AND IN ORDER FOR THE CAR TO PASS INSPECTION. WE WERE STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON THIS CAR AND AFTER CONTACTING CHRYSLER REPEATEDLY, WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE, SO WE WERE FORCED TO MAKE THESE REPAIRS. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH, WE FOUND THAT MANY PACIFICAS HAD MANY OF THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT WE WERE EXPERIENCING AND THAT CHRYSLER REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUES.WE HAVE HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER SEATS, BLUETOOTH , SIDE VIEW MIRRORS. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHORTENS THE LIFE OF THE BATTERY AND WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY PREMATURELY SEVERAL TIMES. NOW WE NEED AN ABS SENSOR, AND THE CAR LEAKS IN THROUGH THE FRONT WINDOW SEALS ON BOTH SIDES WHEN IT RAINS. WE HAVE JUST FOUND OUT WHEN WE HAD THE CAR IN FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, THAT OUR ENGINE CRADLE(SUB FRAME) IS RUSTED AND IS A HAZARD TO DRIVE AND WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $2,500 TO REPLACE! WE JUST MADE OUR LAST PAYMENT ON THIS CAR AS WE FOUND THIS INFORMATION OUT. WHEN I WENT TO HAVE THE STATE INSPECTION PERFORMED I WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS CAR WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF RUST ON THE ENGINE CRADLE. WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND NEEDS OVER $3,600 OF REPAIR WORK DONE. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER AND CAN NOT AFFORD THAT KIND OF REPAIR COST. I FIND IT CRAZY THAT A CAR UNDER 10 YEARS OLD SHOULD HAVE THIS KIND OF RUST DAMAGE. THE VISIBLE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR IS IN PERFECT SHAPE, BUT THE UNDERSIDE IS TOTALLY CORRODED! THIS WAS NOT SURFACE RUST BUT SERIOUS "METAL MISSING" RUST. THE CAR IS ONLY 9 YEARS OLD, HAS JUST OVER 72000 MILES, HAS BEEN IN A GARAGE EVERY NIGHT AND HAS HAD ALL PERIODIC OIL, FILTERS, COOLANT, ETC. DONE ON A PRESCRIBED BASIS. I HAVE KEPT THIS VEHICLE IN "MINT" CONDITION SINCE ONE OF MY KIDS WANTS THE CAR. I CALLED WALSER CHRYSLER, A LOCAL DEALERSHIP I HAVE BOUGHT ALL MY MINI VANS, 300S AND MY PACIFICA FROM. THEY GAVE ME AN 800 NUMBER. I CALLED THE 800 NUMBER WHICH WAS A CHRYSLER OFFICE NUMBER. THEY PRETENDED THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM AND THERE WAS NO RECALL OR WARRANTY OFFERED BY CHRYSLER. ONE WOULD CERTAINLY ASSUME THAT A MB FRAME, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN A CHRYSLER PRODUCT, SHOULD NOT RUST THROUGH IN NINE YEARS. IT IS ALMOST INCONCEIVABLE! IN FACT THERE IS A PAGE LONG FORM, NOT ON CHRYSLER'S LETTERHEAD, THAT STATES CHRYSLER HAS ADMITTED TO THE DEFECTIVE FAULTS, WILL REPAIR OR REIMBURSE AS NECESSARY AND COVERS ALL PACIFICAS FROM 2004 TO 2007. ONE OF THE WRITERS SAID THE QUOTE FOR FIXING HIS CRADLE/FRAME WAS JUST UNDER $4,000. I THINK WHERE THERE IS THIS DEFECT ON SO VERY MANY VEHICLES IT IS TIME FOR CHRYSLER TO STEP UP. SHE WAS INFORMED THAT SHE NEEDED TO HAVE THE SUB FRAME (ENGINE CRADLE) REPLACED IMMEDIATELY AND THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THAT SHE SHOULD NO LONGER OPERATE THE VEHICLE. HER CAR HAS JUST OVER 94,000 MILES SHE NEEDS TO HAVE OVER 5,000.00 OF WORK PERFORMED ON HER CAR. FROM A QUICK SEARCH ON THE ISSUE THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES AND HAS CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS WITH THE FAILURE OF THE SUB FRAME CAUSING THE WHEELS TO FALL OFF THE CAR. *TR
LIKE OTHER EARLY MODEL CHRYSLER PACIFICAS NOTED ON THE NHTSA SITE- MY VEHICLE WAS TAKEN INTO FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THE SHOP INFORMED ME THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE ENGINE CRADLE/ SUBFRAME BEING RUSTED/ROTTED OUT SO BADLY YOU COULD SEE THROUGH IT. THEY SAID THAT IF A LARGE ENOUGH BUMP WAS ROLLED OVER, THE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT AND A SERIOUS ACCIDENT COULD OCCUR AS THE VEHICLE WOULD MORE THAN LIKELY LOSE CONTROL. I AM NOW AFRAID TO ALLOW MY WIFE AND 2 SMALL CHILDREN TO DRIVE IN IT FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED FOR ROUGHLY $10,000 LESS THAN A YEAR PRIOR TO LEARNING ABOUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE FROM A CHRYSLER USED AND NEW CAR DEALER-BRYDEN MOTORS IN BELOIT, WI. I ALSO PURCHASED AN $2000 EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE, WHICH OF COURSE SOMETHING LIKE THIS IS NOT COVERED IN SUCH A PLAN. I BELIEVE THE DAMAGE WAS THERE PRIOR TO PURCHASE AND THE DEALER EITHER FAILED TO INFORM ME, OR DIDN'T PERFORM A WELL CARED FOR INSPECTION PRIOR TO THE SALE. UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER-THEY SAID IT WAS TOO FAR OUT FROM THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THEY DID TAKE PICTURES AND SEND TO THE CHRYSLER "IMAGING DEPARTMENT" WHERE THE MANUFACTURER DEFECT CLAIM I ASKED FOR THEM TO PLACE FOR ME WAS IMMEDIATELY DENIED FOR COVERAGE. I WILL BE REACHING OUT TO CHRYSLER AND THE LOCAL MEDIA IF NECESSARY. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR A BRAKE JOB AND FOR ISSUES WITH THE RIDE AND AN ODOR IN THE INTERIOR CABIN THAT APPEARED AFTER PROLONGED ACCELERATION. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS REPORTED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE DUE TO THE SUB-FRAME BEING ROTTED AND THE MOTOR MOUNTS WORN TO SUCH A DEGREE THAT THE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE ENTIRELY. THE ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM WAS COMPROMISED AS WELL, INCLUDING THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS. IN ADDITION, MUCH OF THE FRONT SUSPENSION WAS SHOT AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. OUR FAMILY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW AND HAVE HAD IT SERVICED MANY, MANY TIMES AT A CHRYSLER FACILITY OVER THE EIGHT YEARS WE OWNED IT. WE WERE NEVER INFORMED ONCE THAT THE SUB-FRAME HAD ANY SIGN OF EXCESSIVE CORROSION UNTIL NOW. WE BELIEVE THE CORROSION IS THE RESULT OF POOR DESIGN AND POSSIBILITY POOR MATERIAL. WHEN I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CARE, THE INTAKE OPERATOR BASICALLY READ FROM A SCRIPT AND STATED THAT MY VEHICLE WASN'T COVERED IN THE RECALL, EVEN THOUGH THE SAME PART WAS AFFECTED, AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO TO ASSIST ME. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, I FOUND OVER 700 OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS THE THIRD CHRYSLER THAT I HAVE OWNED (AND MY SECOND PACIFICA) WITH 100% SATISFACTION UNTIL THIS POINT. ON MARCH 20TH 2012 I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE STRUT MOUNT BROKE, SLIGHTLY ALLOWING THE STRUT TO DAMAGE MY HOOD AND BREAK MY INNER TIE ROD END. I IMMEDIATELY PARKED THE VEHICLE CALLED AAA AND HAD IT TOWED TO MY HOUSE. ON MARCH 23 I PURCHASED A NEW STRUT MOUNT AND ON THE 24TH REPLACED THE BROKEN ONE WITH THE NEW ONE. UNFORTUNATELY I DID THE WORK MYSELF AND DIDN'T NOTICE MY INNER TIE ROD BROKE. WHICH LED TO MY VEHICLE NEEDING TO BE CHECKED BY MY MECHANIC ABOUT 8 MONTHS LATER WHEN MY OUTER TIE ROD END GAVE WAY DAMAGING IN THE PROCESS THE WHEEL BEARINGS AND THE DRIVER SIDE AXLE. I HAD EVERYTHING FIXED AND RAN INTO NO MORE PROBLEMS UNTIL JULY 17TH 2013 WHEN MY FRONT END ALIGNMENT STARTED TO SLIP AND A NOTICEABLE KNOCKING NOISE STARTED COMING FROM MY FRONT END. I IMMEDIATELY SET UP AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE MY VEHICLE SERVICED AT KELLY CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP IN LEHIGH VALLEY AND THEY WERE ABLE TO GET ME IN A WEEK LATER. IT TOOK THEM ROUGHLY A WEEK TO FIX MY CAR. BUT THEY REPLACED MY UPPER ENGINE MOUNT, FRONT LOWER ENGINE MOUNT, L/F INNER OUTER TIE ROD ENDS AND REMOVED A DAMAGED EXHAUST SHIELD. BUT THEY STILL COULDN'T' TELL ME WHY MY ALIGNMENT WAS OFF AND WHAT THE KNOCKING NOISE WAS. TOWARDS THE END OF AUGUST MY PASSENGER SIDE STRUT MOUNT BROKE AND I HAD IT REPLACED RIGHT AWAY. THEN AGAIN IN NOVEMBER THIS TIME COMPLETELY RIPPING THROUGH THE HOOD. THEN AGAIN IN FEBRUARY, MARCH AND NOW TODAY 5/7/2014 I NOTICED THE PASSENGER SIDE STRUT MOUNT IS ON THE VERGE OF BREAKING AGAIN. AFTER SPEAKING TO A COUPLE OF PACIFICA OWNERS IN MY AREA I HAVE COME TO FIND OUT THESE PROBLEMS ARE COMMON ALONG WITH ENGINE SHUT OFFS AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS BEING ON FOR NO REASON. ITS APPARENT THAT THE 3/8TH INCH THICK PLATE THAT THE STRUTS SIT ON ARE NOT ADEQUATE ENOUGH TO HANDLE THE WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLES ALONG WITH THE CONSTANT JERKING MOTION OFF THE CAR FROM THE STICKY GAS PEDDLE. *TR

GET HOME AND LOOK UNDER THE VEHICLE AND NOTICE THAT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR THE LOWER CONTROL ARM IS SPLIT IN HALF. THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ANY OTHER DAMAGE. *TR

DURING A ROUTINE INSPECTION AND OIL CHANGE AN AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN IDENTIFIED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE (AKA SUB-FRAME) WAS SEVERELY CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS EXAMINED BY TWO OTHER AUTO TECHNICIANS AND BOTH CONFIRMED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE IS CORRODED AND THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE IS CONSIDERED A SAFETY HAZARD TO BOTH ITS PASSENGERS AND OTHER VEHICLES OPERATING IN THE VICINITY. THE VEHICLE IS CONSIDERED TO HAVE ZERO RESALE VALUE UNLESS THIS IS REPAIRED. PARTS FOR THIS VEHICLE HAVE BEEN ORDERED AND REPAIR IS SCHEDULE TO OCCUR WITHIN 10 DAYS. ESTIMATED COST FOR REPAIR IS $4,000. A REVIEW OF THE NHTSA DATABASE FOR THIS MODEL YEAR VEHICLE INDICATES 6 COMPLAINTS OF AN IDENTICAL NATURE FILED WITHIN THE LAST 12 MONTHS. SIMILAR SEARCHES OF OTHER WEBSITES CONFIRM THAT THIS IS AN EVOLVING PROBLEM. PACIFICA MODELS YEARS 2004 AND 2005 HAVE WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUES RELATIVE TO CORRODED ENGINE CRADLES AND BOTH MODEL YEARS HAVE BEEN RECALLED AS A RESULT. IT IS HIGHLY PROBABLE THAT THE FREQUENCY OF REPORTED CORRODED ENGINE CRADLES WILL INCREASE AS THESE VEHICLES AGE. A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR INJURY MAY BE THE OUTCOME IN SITUATIONS WHERE THIS PROBLEM REMAINS UNCHECKED. WE BOUGHT A CHRY PACIFICA FROM COUNTRY CLUB JUNE 25,2011 WITH 89,000 MILES ON IT. DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE ON APRIL 30,2012, THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE SUBFRAME CROSS MEMBER WAS ROTTED OUT AND IT WAS UNFIXABLE IMMEDIATELY CALLED DEALER TOOK IT THAT SAME DAY. THEY AGREED THAT THE FRAME WAS ROTTED AND WE REQUESTED A RENTAL WHILE REPAIRS COULD BE MADE INSTEAD THEY TRIED SELLING US A CAR. SPENT HALF A DAY AT THE DEALERS AND HAD TO DRIVE THE UNSAFE CAR HOME AND STILL NO PREVAIL ON GETTING US A RENTAL CAR OR TOLD US WHEN THE REPAIRS COULD BE MADE OR IF THEY COULD FIND PARTS. STILL WAITING WILL SEND ANOTHER REPORT WHEN PROBLEM IS RESOLVED. *JS

DRIVING MY CAR, NO NOTICEABLE PROBLEMS. I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND I SAW A LOT OF FLUID ON THE DRIVEWAY. I WAS EXTREMELY CONCERNED, CHECKED ALL MY FLUIDS WHICH WERE OK. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. I THEN STARTED NOTICING THE CAR RIDING "ROUGH" AND IDLING ROUGH ALONG WITH A 'BANGING" WHEN STARTING OR STOPPING AT REDLIGHTS. TOOK THE CAR TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC WHO WAS NOT TOLD ANYTHING ABOUT THESE ISSUES (THERE FOR UNRELATED ITEM) AND WAS INFORMED I HAVE A BAD MOTOR MOUNT. HE ASKED IF I NOTICED 3 SPECIFIC ITEMS.. UH.. YAH... ALL THE THINGS I TOLD THE DEALER! WAITING FOR HIM TO CHECK OVER THE ENTIRE CAR RIGHT NOW TO SEE IF ANYTHING ELSE IS WRONG. (PROBLEM WITH THE HEAT AND I THINK WITH MY SUSPENSION). ALSO, THE HEAT WILL NOT STOP BLOWING ON THE WINDSHIELD (DEFROST) BARELY GIVES OFF HEAT TO FEET ETC. GOT SO HOT IT MELTED THE PLASTIC ON THE DASHBOARD WHERE THE DEFROST EMITS FROM...DEALER "CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM" BUT YET ALL I DO IS TURN ON THE CAR, SIT THERE 5 MINUTES AND TRY TO TURN THE HEAT TO ANYWHERE OTHER THAN DEFROST AND IT'S BLATANTLY OBVIOUS AS YOU CAN'T BREATHE FROM THE AMOUNT OF HOT AIR STILL BLOWING IN YOUR FACE OFF THE WINDSHIELD. CURRENTLY HAVE LOCAL MECHANIC LOOKING AT IT. PREVIOUS LOCAL MECHANIC FOUND ISSUE BUT WOULDN'T TEAR THE DASHBOARD APART TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX IT. RECOMMENDED DEALER AS I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. DEALER CHARGED $88 DOLLARS TO LOOK AT CAR FOR ALL ABOVE ISSUES AND SAID NOTHING IS WRONG ... RATHER "CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM". BULL! *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE VEERED SLIGHTLY TO THE LEFT. THE VEHICLE THEN HEADED DOWN A RAVINE AND DROVE ACROSS THE SHOULDER INTO THE NORTHBOUND LANE. THERE WAS NO CRASH. THE CONTACT TOOK HIS VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC SHOP AND WAS INFORMED THAT ALL OF THE ALIGNMENT ADJUSTER BOLTS ON THE REAR WHEELS WERE LOOSE. HE STATED THAT THE REAR WHEELS HAD NOT BEEN ALIGNED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,300.

FURTHERMORE MOTOR MOUNTS ON 2 MONTH BACK ORDER UNABLE TO FIX SO PUTTING MORE STRESS ON MY CAR NEEDING MORE REPAIRS. *TR

WHEN PLACED IN REVERSE, CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. GAVE A LITTLE GAS AND HEARD A LOUD POP. FOUND 3-4" PIECE OF TEMPERED METAL ON GROUND. AFTER LOOKING UNDER THE CAR, REALIZED THAT THE ROCKER ARM ON REAR DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL HAD BROKEN IN 2 PLACES.

AFTER DRIVING A NEW 2066 FWD BASIC PACIFICA OFF THE DEALER LOT, I NOTICED A GENERAL PULL TO THE RIGHT EVERY TIME I ACCELERATED. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND STARTED A PROCESS OF COMPLAINING AND HAVING THE CAR DRIVEN BY CHRYSLER EMPLOYEES. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY A TECHNICAL ADVISOR FOR THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT IS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE, BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT HE DOES NOT EVEN FEEL A PULL TO THE RIGHT AND BY A SENIOR CHRYSLER TECHNICIAN THAT PULLING TO THE RIGHT WHEN ACCELERATION IS DUE TO ROAD CROWN SENSITIVITY. I FIND THE VEHICLE VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL WITHOUT KEEPING BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL AND ALWAYS BEING CONSCIENCE OF WHAT I AM DOING. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS SHOULD BE A CHARACTERISTIC OF A VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN ON TODAY'S HIGHWAYS AND HOPE THAT FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE THAT THIS POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE WILL BE INVESTIGATED. I HAVE ALSO RECENTLY BEEN INFORMED BY FORMER EMPLOYEES THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE WHEN THE CHRYSLER VAN WAS FIRST INTRODUCED. *JB
