My Chrysler Pacifica 2007 4.0L Shifter Check Engine Light Was On. I Took It To Get Diagnosed It Came Back Ass Gas Cap My Inboard Computer Even Read Gas-cap. So I Replaced It And The Check Engine Light Was Gone. I Say A Week Later My I Was Parked An Tried To Put The Car In Drive I Wouldn't Shift Shifter Broken Only To Find Out It Was A Piece Inside The Shifter. So I Replaced That And After Replacement Of That Now I’m Having Transmission And Electric Problems. The Car Shifts Rough And As I’m Driving The Car Doesn’t Shifts Gears Now Also Will Shift Into Auto-stick On It’s On. I’ll Put My Car Into Drive An As I’m Proceeding To Drive Say At 20mph My Rpm’s A Stay At x2000 I’ll Continue To Speed Up To 30,40 mph And My Rpm’s Will Be The Same As If My Transmission Isn’t Shifting Gears Also Hear A Whining Noise As I Drive. Replaced Transmission Inner And Outer sensors Still Having The Same Problem. Now He’s Saying My Transmission Is Shot All Together. I Put In Total $800. In repairs after the purchase of this car and its my only car RN. It’s basically idling up and not switching gears I’ve been to 3 to 5 transmission shops and auto body shops.

The car has a lot of dangerous problems. For one I had my truck diagnosed and code came back as gas cap. Then it was electric problems after the replacement of the gas cap. Check engine light was still on. So I went for another diagnostic now is coming up power train. Went to 3 to 6 transmission shops and all told me different reasons solenoid, pcm, Tcm, or maybe it’s just shot all together is what the last shop told me. That’s a $3,000 repair and that’s ridiculous after I had all those pieces replaced. My car stills doesn’t shift gears as I’m driving I can’t really go over 40 or 50 mph because of high rpm’s. The car doesn’t shift gears and I’m hearing a loud whining noise as I drive. I was on the high way and could get off fast enough because of high rpm’s and the car not shifting and also automatically switches from drive to auto-stick on it’s on. Pls Help Me

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JACK WOLF CHRYSLER JEEP (1615 N STATE ST, BELVIDERE, IL 61008) TO BE DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE MAY BE DUE TO THE TIPM BUT, WAS UNABLE TO SAY FOR SURE THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE TIPM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE TOW TIMES AND DETERMINED THAT THE CONTROL BOARD WAS FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDE THE CONTACT WITH A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 123,000.

I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD THIS FOR A WEEK. IT WAS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND I WAS TERRIFIED AS I HAD 5 LITTLE LIVES IN THE VEHICLE AT THAT TIME.

WHEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR MAKES A GRINDING OR CLUNKING NOISE . WE LIFTED THE HOOD, PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND DEPRESSED THE PARKING BRAKE. WE THEN APPLIED ACCELERATOR AND THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE LIFTED FROM THE MOTOR MOUNT A GOOD 2 OR 3 INCHES. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND THIS ACTUALLY STARTED DOING THIS SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED IT IN JUNE OF 2014. IT HAD 97000 MILES AND NOW HAS 117000 MILES. I AM FEARFUL OF HAVING THE ENGINE COME COMPLETELY OFF THE FRAME. I AM TAKING IT TO MY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC NEXT WEEK. I CANNOT BELIEVE WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS THAT THIS MODEL HAS THAT IT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. I GUESS SINCE NO ONE HAS DIED YET OR BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED THE MANUFACTURER MUST FEEL FAIRLY CONFIDENT THAT THEY WILL JUST WAIT TILL EVERYONE STOPS BUYING THEM. WELL, I AM SELLING MY CAR AFTER IT IS FIXED. I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO HAVE THE SHIFTER REPLACED BECAUSE THAT WENT OUT ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO AND MY MECHANIC HAD TO REPLACE IT. I THINK I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR THAT AS WELL, AND YOU CAN BE SURE I AM KEEPING ALL OF MY RECEIPTS FOR REPAIRS THAT I SHOULD NOT EVEN HAVE TO MAKE ON AN 8 YEAR OLD VEHICLE.

SHORTLY AFTER STARTING AND DRIVING THE CAR, WITHIN A COUPLE OF MINUTES, THE CAR COMPLETELY STOPS RUNNING WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS. JUST DIES WHILE DRIVING AS IF THE IGNITION WAS JUST TURNED OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES CAUSING A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD AS THE POWER BRAKES AND STEERING IMMEDIATELY STOP WORKING. THE CAR IS UNDER AN EXTENDED MANUFACTURER'S BUMPER-TO-BUMPER WARRANTY SO THE REPAIR SHOULD BE COVERED AS IT IS A CLEAR DEFECT. APPARENTLY, BECAUSE THE CAR JUST STOPPED, NO CODES WERE RECORDED AS TO THE NATURE OF THE PROBLEM. HENCE, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY A PROBLEM. THE DEALER RECOMMENDED THAT THE COST OF A SUSPECTED REPAIR BE MADE BY THE OWNER BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT DEFINITELY DEFINE THE PROBLEM AS NECESSARY TO BE REIMBURSED UNDER THE WARRANTY. RECOMMENDED REPAIR WAS DONE AT OWNER'S COST YET THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. AN EARLIER MODEL OF THIS CAR HAD A RECALL TO REPAIR A SIMILAR IF NOT IDENTICAL PROBLEM.

POWER STEERING FAILS COMPLETELY FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS OR MORE. THIS OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE TRAVELS THROUGH ANY WATER ON THE ROAD THAT MAY SPLASH INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE STEERING BELT GETS WET AND WILL SLIP (MAKING A SCREECHING NOISE UNTIL IT SPINS OFF THE WATER AND DRIES). THE POWER ASSISTED STEERING WILL STOP COMPLETELY NOT ALLOWING THE DRIVER TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE POWER STEERING IS RESTORED. THIS PROBLEM WILL CAUSE THE DRIVER NOT TO BE ABLE TO CHANGE THE DIRECTION OF THE VEHICLE IN ANY DIRECTION TO COMPLETE A TURN OR AVOID A COLLISION! IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND CAN OCCUR WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN I TRIED TO DRIVE MY CAR OUT OF MY GARAGE, I COULD NOT MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER OUT OF "PARK". I LATER LEARNED THAT A PART IN THE SHIFT LINKAGE ASSEMBLY HAD BROKEN. IN FACT, THIS BROKEN PART, A LOCKOUT OVER-RIDE, HAS BEEN REPLACED UNDER A RECALL OF ALL OTHER CHRYSLER AND DODGE PRODUCTS WHICH HAVE THIS PART INSTALLED. BUT FOR THE CHRYSLER PACIFICA, WHICH HAS THE IDENTICAL PART, NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MY CAR AROUND, BUT HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE THE "PARK" POSITION OF THE SHIFT LEVER. IF I INADVERTENTLY PLACED THE SHIFT LEVER INTO "PARK", SAY AT A RAILROAD CROSSING, I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO MOVE THE CAR! THE FIRST TIME I HAD TO HAVE THE MOTOR MOUNTS REPLACED ON MY 07' CHRYSLER PACIFICA WAS IN 2009. THERE WAS AN AWFUL ALMOST SLAMMING TYPE NOISE AND THE VEHICLE "JUMPED" WHEN ACCELERATING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AT THAT TIME AND THEY SAID THE MOTOR MOUNTS WERE CRACKED AND THEY WOULD REPLACE THEM, BUT COULDN'T GUARANTEE HOW LONG THEY WOULD LAST. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT IT WAS "AN ISSUE" ON THE PACIFICA MODEL AS IT WAS A DESIGN FLAW AND HE HAD SEEN THIS PROBLEM OFTEN. SINCE THE FIRST TIME THE MOTOR MOUNTS WERE FOUND TO BE CRACKED IN 2009, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE MOTOR MOUNTS 2 MORE TIME AND NOW THEY ARE BROKE AGAIN; TOTALING 4 TIMES IN 7 YEARS!!! THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS AND UNACCEPTABLE! I HAVE CALLED CHRYSLER QUITE A FEW TIMES IN THE LAST 4 YEARS AND GOT NOWHERE! THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER INTERLOCK LEVER, A SMALL PLASTIC PART WITHIN THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY OF CERTAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION VEHICLES OF THE CHRYSLER MARQUEE HAS A HOOK TO WHICH A SPRING IS ATTACHED. WHEN THE HOOK BREAKS, THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE MOVED BECAUSE THE SHIFTER LEVER WILL BECOME LOCKED IN THE "PARK" POSITION. THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION, IN AN AGREEMENT WITH NHTSA (AS I HAVE BEEN MADE AWARE) VOLUNTARILY RECALLED SEVERAL CHRYSLER PRODUCTS WHICH SHARED THIS PART, UNDER THEIR "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NOTIFICATION K39". THOSE VEHICLES, CHRYSLER 300, DODGE MAGNUM AND CHARGER (2005-2007), PROBABLY MANY THOUSANDS, WERE ALL REPAIRED AT NO CHARGE TO OWNERS. YOU MUST BE AWARE THAT THIS IDENTICAL PART, INTERCHANGEABLE WITH THE ABOVE-MENTIONED VEHICLES, IS INSTALLED IN CHRYSLER PACIFICA VEHICLES. BUT THE "VOLUNTARY" RECALL EXCLUDED ANY PACIFICA VEHICLE. THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR EVERYTHING AND IF THAT DIDN'T FIX IT I WOULD HAVE TO SPEND MORE MONEY UNTIL THEY FOUND THE ACTUAL FIX.AND THE BEST PART IS WHEN THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY THEY HAD TO REPROGRAM THE PCM. I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2007 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN APRIL 2007. I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE MOUNTS THREE TIMES ALREADY (JANUARY 2008, AUGUST 2009 AND SEPTEMBER 2010). MOST RECENTLY, I AM EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND OIL PRESSURE BUT THE DEALER DOES NOT SEEM TO THING THERE IS A PROBLEM. I'M TIRED OF THE RUN AROUND THAT I'M GETTING. LAST MONTH, (AROUND THE FIRST WEEK IN AUGUST 2010) I BROUGHT THE CAR TO DEALER BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT START. I ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE IT WAS ACTING ODD, CHECK THE BRAKES, CHECK THE ENGINE MOUNTS SINCE I KNEW THESE WERE PROBLEMATIC IN THE PAST. ALSO, ASKED THEM PERFORM AN OIL CHANGE. I WAS TOLD THE CAR NEEDED A NEW BATTERY, SOME BRAKE WORK AND THE TENSIONER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AN OIL CHANGE WAS DONE. I WAS TOLD THE ENGINE MOUNTS WERE INSPECTED AND THEY WERE FINE AND THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. WELL, LITTLE OVER A MONTH LATER AROUND SEPT. 22 2010, THE TRANSMISSION FELT LIKE IT WAS DRAGGING, ENGINE WAS EXTREMELY HOT, RPM'S SEEMED TO BE OUT OF WACK AND THE OIL FUEL WAS REALLY LOW. THE CAR WAS INSPECTED AND I WAS TOLD THE RUBBER AROUND THE ENGINE MOUNTS HAD TO BE REPLACED AND WAS MAKING THE ENGINE PULL AWAY FROM THE TRANSMISSION WHICH WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD IT WAS NORMAL TO BURN / LOOSE THAT AMOUNT OF OIL. I WAS CHARGED ANOTHER DEDUCTIBLE AND I TOOK THE CAR HOME. WE OWN A 2007 PACIFICA, WE LOVE THIS CAR, BUT THE TRANSMISSION IS SO BAD, WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER 8 TIMES TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED. I PURCHASED A '07 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN FEBRUARY. I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR. I HAD TO HAVE THE MOTOR MOUNT REPLACED. I HAD PROBLEMS WITH IT SHUTTERING AND ACTING AS THOUGH IT DOESN'T SHIFT BETWEEN 30-35 MPH. I'VE HAD THE TORQUE CONVERTER REPLACED ON IT AS WELL. AFTER THAT I'VE HAD TO HAVE THE TIE RODS REPLACED, AND THE STRUTS. SINCE I'VE NOTICED THAT ALMOST EVERYONE IS HAVING THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND MOTOR MOUNT PROBLEMS AS WELL AS OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. SINCE I'VE HAD THE TORQUE CONVERTER REMOVED WHILE IT WAS STILL IN SHOP I GET MY CAR BACK AND WHEN YOU LET GO OF THE STEERING WHEEL IT VEERS COMPLETELY TO THE LEFT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. IN JULY OF 2007, WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND FOUND NO FAILURES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED AT HER LAST VISIT THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS DEFECTIVE. IN OCTOBER OF 2007, THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS REPLACED AND LATER REPLACED AGAIN IN JULY OF 2008. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING BOTH REPAIRS, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME FAILURE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE MADE A CLICKING NOISE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE UPPER STRUT MOUNT AND BEARINGS WERE DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 22,750 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 900. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO HIGH GEAR IN A TIMELY MANNER OR SMOOTHLY UPON ACCELERATION. THE LOWER GEAR SHIFTING WAS VERY ROUGH. UPDATED 11/26/08. *JB

I PURCHASED A 2007 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN MAY 2007. STARTING IN JANUARY 2008 I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR...SHUTTERING, IDLE PROBLEMS. IN MARCH 2008 I HAD TO HAVE A NEW TORQUE CONVERTER PUT IN THE CAR. NOW, AUGUST, 2008 AND 8000 MILES LATER I GOT IN THE CAR ONE MORNING AND IT WAS MAKING A HORRIFIC SQUEALING NOISE AND COME TO FIND OUT AGAIN I HAVE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND NEED ANOTHER TORQUE CONVERTER PLUS A TRANSMISSION PUMP. APPARENTLY THE PUMP IS ON BACKORDER AND I AM 1 OF 3 PEOPLE IN THE UNITED STATES ON A WAITING LIST WAITING FOR ONE. MY CAR HAS BEEN SITTING IN THE SHOP FOR OVER 3 WEEKS NOW BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THE CHRYSLER MECHANIC HAS NO IDEA WHEN THE PART MAY COME IN. THIS IS RIDICULOUS IN MY OPINION. AN ALMOST BRAND NEW CAR WITH THESE KIND OF PROBLEMS. LAST VISIT - REFLASH AGAIN - DEALER CALLED CHRYSLER & WAS TOLD THAT THEY (CHRYSLER) IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING AT THIS POINT IN TIME. PROBLEM STILL OCCURRED. RETURNED TO DEALER AGAIN A FEW DAYS LATER. TOLD WE HAD DEFECTIVE TORQUE CONVERTER. THE PART WAS ORDERED AND REPLACED IN NOV.2007. SHORTLY AFTER REPLACEMENT SHUDDERING RETURNED. AGAIN INTERMITTENT. USUALLY OCCURS BETWEEN 20-40 MPH AND OFTEN TIMES ON INCLINES. LEFT BLINKER STAYS ON INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN BROUGHT TO THEIR ATTENTION, THEY CLAIM THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. CONTACTED CHRYSLER 2X IN JANUARY ESP. REGARDING TORQUE CONVERTER PROBLEM. DURING THE COURSE OF ALL THIS WE BECAME AWARE OF NUMEROUS OTHERS WHO HAVE SAME PROBLEM. ALSO READ TSB'S ISSUED PRIOR TO AND AFTER PURCHASE OF OUR VEHICLE. ONE STATES PROBLEM CANNOT BE DUPLICATED. AFTER THE CAR WAS A MONTH OLD A THUMPING STARTED UNDERNEATH UPON STARTING. AT TIMES THE THUMPING (SHUDDERING) IS SEVERE AND THE ENGINE DOES NOT START. AFTER THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPROGRAMMED (I DOUBT IT WAS REALLY DONE AS THERE IS NO STICKER UNDERTHE HOOD AS REQUIRED) THE CAR, SOMETIMES, LURCHES LIKE A NEW DRIVER WITH STANDARD SHIFT. THE CAR, SOMETIMES AT AROUND 32MPH, SURGES OR PULSES. THE CLIMATE CONTROL HAS NOT WORKED ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE MANUAL SINCE DAY ONE. NOW IN COLDWEATHER, WHEN IT IS DIRECTED TO THE FLOOR, SO MUCH HEAT COMES FROM THE DEFROSTER THAT I GET A HEADACHE AND THE FLOOR IS FREEZING. THERE IS A CLUNKING IN THE RIGHT FRONT ON NEARLY ANY ROAD SURFACE. I DO NOT FEEL THAT IT IS A BALL JOINT, BUT RATHER A STRUT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHES 2,000 RPMS WHILE ON A SLIGHT INCLINE, THE TRANSMISSION BEGINS TO SHUTTER AND SKIP. THIS LEADS TO FAILURE BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION AND THE TORQUE CONVERTER. THE CONTACT RECENTLY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND THEY STATED THAT IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED UNTIL SEPTEMBER OF 2007. THE TRANSMISSION ALSO MAKES A HARSH CLUNKING SOUND WHEN SHIFTING. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT THE SUSPENSION MAY BE FAILING BECAUSE THE VEHICLE RIDES ROUGHLY AT ANY SPEED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 800 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 350. THE CONSUMER STATED CHRYSLER STATED THIS WAS A SOFTWARE PROBLEM AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FIX THE VEHICLE UNTIL SOMETIME IN SEPTEMBER. UPDATED 09/11/07 *TR
