The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, the message “Service Rack and Pinion Gears” was displayed. The contact stated that it was difficult to turn the steering wheel to the left or right. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to an independent mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and replaced the rack and pinion gears and the steering module. The vehicle was repaired; however, after the repair to the steering, the contact experienced a failure with the transmission. The contact stated that while stopped at traffic signals, after depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the engine was running but was vibrating roughly, and then the vehicle jolted forward. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent at first but had become a recurring failure. The contact stated that during another failure, while the engine was running, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the transmission control module needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the shifter module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred, and the contact had the vehicle towed to the same dealer. The dealer had the vehicle for several days and called the contact to pick up the vehicle, and informed the contact that the vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle had failed again, and the vehicle was no longer able to start the vehicle. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 184,136.

The steering on my 2017 Chrysler Pacific sticks at the 11 and 1 position. It causes me to over steer while driving down the road or on the interstate and then it feels like the vehicle is swerving and I have to hold the steering wheel tight. Usually before this the service electronic stability control will come on and lately the service airbag light has been coming on all at the same time. All the notifications will go off when I turn the vehicle off and come on randomly while driving. It is very scary and dangerous causing tense driving on the steering wheel because you never know when it will happen.

Jan 3, 2026

Steering sticking driving approximately 40 mph when on slight turns. Happens frequently and seems very unsafe. No warning, just happens.

Jan 1, 2026

When going around a curve (several times this has happened), the steering wheel feels like it is sticking which causes me to have to jerk it to get it out of that position to keep from wrecking, however this is dangerous and could cause an accident. It happens every time I drive it. No warning lights and no one knows what’s causing it. I have done research and this seems to be an ongoing issue with this specific vehicle.

Dec 14, 2025

The power steering went out without warning. Turned the vehicle on after getting gas and the could not turn when pulling out, then the light for the power steering came on. Checked 2 of the power steering fuse and found that one was a little unseated. Pushed that in and eas able to drive home. Tried to drive the vehicle the next day and the power steering went out while driving. Was able to make it home, but with great difficulty parked at an angle. When trying to move the vehicle to a more appropriate spot the steering wheel was wiggling itself. The power steering warning light is on again. A mechanic has not looked at it yet. We can not afford that but need the vehicle fixed, so plan to attempt to resolve the problem ourselves.

Dec 4, 2025

My steering has become sticky. It started slowly but has become very dangerous. I can no longer drive it safely. I have to jiggle the wheel to pull it out of a lock up during long turn in which causes the rear tires to sway. It recently started to do it while even going straight . Took it dealership but they say they can not duplicate the problem. I have talk to other Pacifica owners with the same common problem. They told me to report it. I think the dealership is waiting for me to crash my Pacifica. Thank you.

Dec 2, 2025

About once a week while driving, the steering seems to catch or lock up for a moment. This usually happens when the steering wheel is just slightly off center by 15 or 20 degrees and more often to the left side. You can force to turn through it however it maturely free up and cause you to oversteer and weave on the roadway. It is serious enough that my wife refuses to drive the car. I noticed that there was an alert for steering problems for my type of car but when I entered my VIN number it isn’t included. Why not?? It is exhibiting the exact same symptoms as those that many others have reported. Does there need to be a fatal crash before something done about this critical issue?? Nov 29, 2025

My 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Touring-L has suffered repeated and dangerous electrical failures since purchase. Shortly after buying it from AutoNation Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM in Valencia, CA, I had to return it twice for electrical repairs that kept it in service several weeks under warranty. About two years later, while still under extended warranty, the engine underwent a complete rebuild for multiple-cylinder misfire codes that were likely caused by intermittent CAN-bus voltage loss rather than a mechanical defect. Over the past nine months, the vehicle has again developed severe electrical faults while driving: sudden loss of power steering assist, all dashboard lights illuminating, windshield wipers activating spontaneously, and the engine failing to shut off using the Start/Stop button. The vehicle has also stalled without warning while driving in traffic or idling at red lights, restarting only after 5–10 minutes and blocking traffic lanes, placing me and surrounding drivers at significant risk. Two major repairs in the last two weeks failed to resolve the defects: (1) repair of the CAN-bus system after the vehicle would not start and acted erratically while driving, and a week later (2) replacement of the brake-booster vacuum pump, which was shorted internally and caused CAN-bus shutdown, complete steering loss, sudden braking, and no engine power. The vehicle is currently at Dependable Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Canoga Park, CA, awaiting further diagnosis despite repeated repair attempts. These symptoms match Chrysler TSBs 08-007-17 and 08-033-21 concerning Body Control Module water intrusion and communication faults. This ongoing electrical defect has caused steering loss, random stalling, ignition failure, and unpredictable vehicle behavior—issues widely reported by Pacifica owners. It poses a serious safety hazard and warrants immediate investigation and recall.

Steering sticks occasionally at 1 and 11 position while traveling at highway speed.

Nov 19, 2025

We are experiencing steering wheel locking on right or left gradual turns. The steering wheel locks and it has to be jerked back into a straight position. We've experienced this for over a year now. We understand it may be a chronic problem.

Nov 16, 2025

Steering system can feel "sticky" during gradual turns, particularly when the steering wheel is held in specific positions (around the 11 or 1 o'clock position). This can be followed by a sudden, forceful return of power steering assistance, which could lead to oversteering. This is a reoccurring issue

Oct 28, 2025

Power steering sticks while making gradual turns in either direction. Most commonly noted on highway entrance/exit ramps, but also slight curves in the road. Some force is needed to return the steering wheel to the correct position which has led to over correction. This is a repeated issue, not an isolated incident.

Oct 26, 2025

l submitted a form regarding open investigation NHSTA Action number XXX and included my invoice from the Chrysler dealership, Lake Wales, FL regarding the 2017 Pacifica power steering. As of October 26, 2025 there is nothing showing regarding the open investigation. I also requested an email in return regarding these updates. I have not received any emails in return.

Oct 22, 2025

The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds and making gradual right turns, the steering wheel was sticking and failed to return to center automatically after the turn. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: PE25009 (Steering). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.

Oct 15, 2025

Have noticed intermittent sticking sensation when driving. No particular direction. Just sometimes happens going around curves. Have to perk steering wheel in opposite direction to free up.

Oct 15, 2025

When making long sweeping turns, like highway off ramps, the steering wheel will stick. The driver has jerk the wheel back towards center to get the wheel to turn again. We have owned the car since new. We have expirenced the problem between 15-20 times. The issue seems to come in waves. We will expirence it a few times in a short time then it wont happen agian for an extended period.

Oct 7, 2025

The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH and turning the steering wheel to the left or the right, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. The power steering engaged and jerked the wheel to the left or the right of center. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 154,000.

Oct 7, 2025 Crash

When I was taking curved exit, 10 mph over, the wheel got stuck and over corrected itself.

Oct 6, 2025

When driving on the freeway, at around 65-75 mph, and on a gentle right bend, the steering wheel gets stuck. We can move it, but it jerks the car a little. It initially occurred rarely and was not easily reproduced. My dealer could not reproduce it. It is now becoming more common and a nuisance on road trips. It is also getting more stuck, resulting in more significance movements. I nearly left my lane when getting the steering unstuck this past weekend. We are going to see if our dealer can reproduce it.

Oct 5, 2025

Steering seems to stick momentarily during turns. Especially on ramps.

Sep 30, 2025

Steering sticks especially when going around turns. This is an inconsistent issue, and the car does not self-correct steering as normal and needs to be pulled back to neutral. There are no lights or warnings that this is going to happen. The car has been taken to a dealer who simply drove it around the block and said it is fine. It is not fine and if something happens to my elderly parents driving this car, this will be a much bigger issue. This becomes a higher risk when driving in high traffic areas as there is no warning that the steering is going to change. The safety risk is that the car cannot always be controlled well, and we are afraid this problem will worsen, and a manual override will not be enough. My father has been complaining about this for some time, today I drove them into the city for an appointment, almost 2 hours behind the wheel of this van, and felt first-hand how scary that is to happen when driving. I am happy to have someone come take this car for a drive and get this fixed before someone get hurt.

Sep 26, 2025

Took vehicle to Chrysler Dealership on May 24, 2025 for issues one being the powersteering. For a little over a month, noticed steering sticks at 11 o'clock and the 1 o'clock. Chrysler confirmed. I have uploaded the report they sent. I know there is an ongoing investigation and would like to provide my vehicle in that report. I would also greatly appreciate a response if and when there will be a recall on this so I can get it fixed. I am unable to get this item fixed as I am on a limited income. It will take me a long time to save money to have this item fixed.

Sep 24, 2025

Steering sticks or drags at 11:00 and 1:00. Will not return to center all the time. It is a safety factor. It has not been confirmed by a dealer. Said would be 2 weeks before they could make an appoint. No inspection of any kind. It happens every time I drive it.

Sep 23, 2025

The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving and making a right turn on several occasions, the steering wheel was sticking and failed to automatically return to center after the turn. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: PE25009 (Steering). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.

Sep 23, 2025

The steering is sticking after car returns to original position from the curve road.

Sep 21, 2025

When the wheel gets turned to the right to go around a curve, the steering wheel gets "Stuck". The car continues to turn when exiting the turn, and will only return back to center by having to pull hard on the steering wheel.

Sep 14, 2025

When turning to the right, around 35-45mph on a sharp turn, the steering will stick. Yesterday the sticking was so bad it almost caused me to lose control in the middle of the curb. It does not stick when taking sharp turns to the left. The mechanic has not been able to locate the issue.

Sep 12, 2025

The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while turning to the left or the right, the steering wheel remained in the position the steering wheel was turned, instead of automatically returning to center. The contact used force to straighten the steering wheel. The contact stated that the failure was most persistent while turning; however, the contact noticed that the failure had started to occur while the steering wheel was slightly turned to the left or the right. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Sep 12, 2025

When turning vehicle back to the left after a slight right turn the steering wheel is difficult turn.

Sep 11, 2025

Most noticeable when about to merge on to highway (so a very slight turn of steering wheel), it catches just slightly, causing me to jerk the wheel in over correction.

Sep 11, 2025

I read that the NTSHA was looking into the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica's rack and pinion sticking at the 11 & 1 o'clock positions. Our did that a couple of years ago, but we had it repaired. Dealer replaced the rack and pinion, that fixed the issue.

Sep 10, 2025

Mine has a looseness feeling yet on inspection everything like tie rod ends are good. Definitely at the 11 o clock position I can get a shudder or shimmy even at low speeds. Despite it feeling loose it’s tracking excellent on the highway like everything is tight. I also get a rattle like the tie rods are loose at speeds below 30. There is no looseness anywhere on inspection. If the wheel is shaken on a drive on lift you can feel the noise in the rack mostly on the left side. Happens every day.

Sep 10, 2025 Crash

On December 28, 2024 my family and I were in a crash with our Pacifica van. In a gradual left turn at approximately 40 mph, the van slowly drifted to the right. I slowly corrected to the left with no affect. After slightly more left correct, the van cut hard left and crashed head into a concrete wall on the opposite side of the roadway. The steering correction inputs should not have resulted in such a hard left turn. The drift to the right should not have occurred and I was not able to correct for some reason. The vehicle was inspected by insurance and totaled. No other inspections were completed to my knowledge. There were no issues or warnings of a potential problem. We did suspect the lane keep assist system could have caused an over correction but have no way to confirm that.

Sep 10, 2025

During a road trip at mostly highway speeds, we experienced an intermittent "sticking" sensation in the steering wheel while trying to recenter the wheel on turns, almost as if the power steering temporarily disabled, that required additional torque to turn the wheel back to center, after which the steering felt normal again until the next time it happened.

Sep 10, 2025

While driving you feel the steering wheel sticking when at a certain degree. It has mostly occurred when on a curve and when going over 40 mph. We take several long trips and it has happened multiple times.

Sep 10, 2025

When driving and turning wheel to the right it gets " stuck" and uses more effort to straighten wheel back. Sometimes it's "stuck" to the right longer than the turn in the road and about run off the side of road. Speed does not matter happens at any speed. Happens more often than before. Happening for year and half . Have took it to 3 different mechanics and they couldn't determine for sure the reason. Said electronic power steering should not fail.

Sep 10, 2025

The vehicle will randomly shut itself off while it is operating causing the dashboard to flicker on and off before shutting down fully. The steering wheel gets stuck at the 1:00 position.

Sep 10, 2025

When turning right, changing lanes, or taking a circuar exit the steering wheel will feel stuck. You have to move the steering wheel in the opposite direction before continuing your turn. Once I let go of the steering wheel and it was locked in place duing a turn. Not as frequently, but I also experienced this while turning slight left to pass a vehicle in a passing zone on a 2 lane road. The delaership has been unable to resolve this issue. This started happening in 2024, but it wasn't until spring 2025 that is became a consistent problem that wasn't resolved by new tires, front end alignment, new brakes, or new struts.

Unknown. Steering wheel sticks most days. Happens especially when turning and driving around a curb. Have felt this multiple times a day.

Sep 9, 2025

Steering exhibits a sticking sensation on gradual right or left turns, like while driving along a wide sweeping cu4ve on a road. The steering hangs and does not return to center, and I have to pull it back to center.

Steering has jerking sensation at higher speeds going around turns. Causing me to almost overcorrect. Safety of my children involved.

Sep 9, 2025

Today I learned that there is an open investigation pertaining to the steering on my model of vehicle. What I orginally throught to be "normal" for the vehicle I now believe could be an issue. Since I have owned this van there have been numerous random times where I have been driving and it feels like my steeling wheel gots stuck in position and required extra effort to move it. It has always been in a gradual turn or curving of the road vs in a hard right or left turn. Additionally, there has been times where I am turning at a very low rate of speed, say to turn into a parking space, where I can feel what almost seems like a "bumping" sensation from the steering wheel through my hands. I have never been able to get the issues to occur when asking someone else if they feel or experience it.This is my first van that I have ever owned, so I assumed these to be little quirks of driving the vehicle. I guess I did not realize that me, my family or other's safety could be at risk during these episodes. There were no warning lights or indications that either event was ever about to occur. I have owned this vehicle since 2019 and the vehicle is available for inspection at anytime.

The electric steering has a stiff jerk at random positions when taking a turn. It seems to happen at the 11 o clock and the 1 o clock positions on the wheel. It causes a stiffness when driving on a turn that causes myself to have to jerk the wheel to get it out of the stuck position, which causes the vehicle to jerk and causes panic. It seems to happen every time I drive the van, several times during a trip, basically every time I take a basic turn. The safety of my family is put at risk because it causes me to have to jerk the wheel to get the steering under control. This is a current on going investigation. There are no warning messages or lights on for this. Please investigate this and get this issue fixed. It’s scary and dangerous to my family and others on the road.

Sep 9, 2025

While turning, my steering wheel will get stuck, sometimes causing me to over correct while trying to fix it. It has been happening for quite some time and seems to be an ongoing issue. It typically occurs when I'm going around a curve, not when I'm doing a complete turn. I am afraid this could cause an accident at some point.

Sep 9, 2025 Crash

When I’m steering to the right of the highway, my van is hard to steer back onto the roadway.

Sep 9, 2025

The steering gets stuck at the 11 o'clock position. The steering wheel does not respond immediately and is putting me in a dangerous situation and causing many close encounters with the vehicle oversteering in the neighboring lanes on the highway putting me and my family at risk for a major car crash. There was a past recall on the steering where the dealer checked the ground wire but no repair was made.

Sep 9, 2025

When turning the steering wheel it will feel like it gets stuck for a split seconds. It happens alot.

Sep 9, 2025

The steering on my 2017 Chrysler Pacific sticks at the 11 and 1 position. It cause us over steer while driving down the road or on the interstate. It is very scary.

Sep 9, 2025

The power steering sticks when making a gradual turn which makes it feel like it's not going to straighten back up so overcorrecting is easy if you're not careful. It happens intermittently and the dealer said they were unable to reproduce it but it happens on a regular basis.

Sep 8, 2025

The steering wheel sticks when driving at speeds 50-70mph. When I am on a turning roadway, the steering wheel will stick in place, and will stay in that position unless forced to rotate.

Sep 8, 2025

The steering tends to stick in the 11 o clock or the 1 o clock position when driving on the highway. I feel it and luckily I’m able steer it straight without much force. Seems to be getting worse.

Sep 8, 2025

Steering wheel can randomly get stuck with mild turning or with a short curve in the road. It is much worse when driving downhill with a slight curve in the road. It is very unsafe and in order to unstick the steering wheel, the driver has to aggressively pull the steering wheel back into position to avoid overturning and driving outside the driving lane. This could definitely lead to an accident if the driver is unable to get the steering wheel unstuck promptly. This needs to be addressed immediately. This has been an ongoing issue for years so I listed the first date I really noticed this being an issue-when we took a road trip just outside the Smoky Mountains. The steering wheel sticking is horrendous driving downhill with curvy roads.

Sep 8, 2025

I consistently have an issue with my steering wheel sticking in a turned position when making a full circle turn (for example: exiting a highway). The steering wheel will remain locked in this position, even with no hands on it, until jerked the opposite direction which seems to unlock it.

Aug 12, 2025

While driving I lost my steering and it was hard to turn as i approached traffic and attempting to turn on ramp, I had to fight steering to get off of road. I took it to a garage and technician diagnosed it and said it is a steering module mounted outside under vehicle.

Aug 2, 2025

While stopped in traffic, the car started shifting from Drive to Neutral and Parking, the lights of the shifting wheel started blinking, and it was not possible to turn off the engine. After ~20 minutes, it stopped doing that and I was able to turn it off. 10 minutes later I started the engine and I was able to drive home but the steering wheel was very hard to move and the Check Engine light and there was a message in the cluster to take the Power Steering Assist and the electronic stability control system to service, but while stopped in the driveway with the engine on, it did exactly the same and I wasn't able to power off the engine. I wasn't able to start the engine again after that, the lights of the shifting whell kept blinking. I took the car to an independent mechanic and he was able to start the engine, but Power Steering is so hard to move.

Jul 28, 2025

While driving and going around a curve to the right, the steering 'locks up' and I need to tug on the steering wheel to bring it back to center. This does not happen every time, but it is becoming more frequent. It most recently happened on Friday, July 25, 2025 and then again today, July 28, 2025.

Jul 21, 2025

Steering issue. The steering wheel sticks in place,, specifically during right turns. The problem seems more prevalent when the wheel is consistently turned past the 1-o’clock position (for example, when entering a highway via a right hand cloverleaf). I’ve seen other NHTSA reports on this condition. Most participants have received unsatisfactory service/fixes. NHTSA, please address this dangerous problem with the manufacturer.

The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel failed to turn in the intended direction. Additionally, there were several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the engine seized. The contact stated that after several attempts, the vehicle started. The vehicle was driven to the shoulder of the road and the failure reoccurred. The contact's husband started the vehicle, and the vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic; however, the failure was not duplicated. The contact stated that while attempting to leave the independent mechanic, the vehicle failed to start. The dealer where the vehicle was purchased, was made aware of the failure. The contact was advised to have the vehicle towed to the dealer and was provided a diagnostic fee. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.

Power steering module malfunctioned when taking kids to school. Auto repair shop confirmed.

Apr 9, 2025

clock spring in the steering column broke.

Mar 14, 2025 Crash

Front right stabilizer broke while driving down street and caused loss of control of vehicle. Vehicle spun to right and crashed into parked vehicle.

Jan 27, 2025

We experienced a failure of the entire steering rack assembly and tie rod ends and also the control module for the steering system. The repair cost was just under $5,000.00. I question why the entire rack and pinion steering system needed to be replaced. I ask what component failed on on the steering rack and what specifically fail on the steering control assembly. No logical answer was provided. I told the dealer I brought the Van in for a diagnosis of concerning steering corrections taking place even with the steering adaptive function turned off. I explained replacing everything involving the steering of the car should correct the issue but it did not feel like a diagnoses and more like a shotgun approach that I would be forced to pay for. I explained by wife drive this vehicle and she had a trip planned to travel across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and I believed the erratic behavior of the steering was to dangerous to change driving. I rented a replacement van to ensure her safety. The problem was recreated by the Dealership and the estimate to replace everything involving the steering system was provided as the fix. I have the steering assembly at my home but no one has opened or inspected what components failed. This failure appeared around 81,000 miles on our 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Limited. I have owned 5 Chrysler products and have never had a rack steering assembly fail even with most of our vehicles exceeding 200,000 miles.

The vehicle is available for inspection. At an intersection the vehicle abruptly turned off, while the engine was running and in drive. Children were in the vehicle and I was very scared and in shock when it happened. My car just randomly turned off, while I was sitting in the middle of an intersection and the vehicle was in drive (obviously). I was able to turn it back on, but it was very dangerous and could have killed us if a car had come through the [XXX] intersection while we were stuck there. Safety of other drivers on the road at risk, my life and children’s lives were at risk. Could have caused death had our van been stuck in the middle of this busy intersection a few feet more forward. Our 2017 Pacifica has been in for diagnostic review/repair several times. While traveling between speeds of 50-70 miles per hour after a period of anywhere between 35-90 minutes when making easy right corners the steering sticks in place between 11 & 1 positions. Has been noticed on shorter distances in hotter weather than and on longer trips farther into the drive. We recently had the electronic power steering computer replaced which did not fix the problem. Currently the dealership is advising that the rack and pinion need replacing but the warranty company will not pay as they are not able to replicate the error in the presence of the warranty company inspector. Since replacing the electronic power steering was unsuccessful in correcting the problem, the warranty company is requiring the dealership to provide proof of part failure before they pay. My son turned [XXX] on [XXX] and got his drivers license. At this time we do not have $4,000 to replace the rack and pinion and the warranty company won't cover it due to dealership errors. It is my understanding there are hundreds of reported cases of this same exact issue without any recalls. We refuse to allow our [XXX] son to drive a literal death trap with known and reported steering issues to the government and manufacturer but that may not be an option for everyone. May god or whomever forgive the souls of those who wait for the death of a child or other before taking action. Sticking steering in turns, shimmy/rattle in steering wheel when making hard slow speed turns. The steering wheel felt like it had slack in it when moving it back and forth while stationary with engine running. After driving on the highway the steering kept sticking to the right when rounding small curves. I had to physically pull the wheel back to straighten. This almost caused an accident a few times. There are some SERIOUS DEFECTS and safety issues with this make and model of car. Others have reported this problem on the Chrysler cares forum and found a defective steering rack and gear. I belive this is a broad problme with certain makes and models of the pacifica and extremly dangerous for a family car. I do not feel safe even driving this car on a highway anymore.

The steering of the vehicle has started intermittently grabbing when turning curves or changing lanes. Dealer kept it for 3 days and said they could not duplicate the issue. I experienced the issue several times on my way home and it is getting worse. I had new tires put on the vehicle and a wheel alignment done and still experiencing the issue. I have checked the internet and see that many others are having the same issue with the 2017 Chrysler Pacific but no one seems to have an answer. The vehicle was purchased new from a dealer program car and had about 3500 miles on it. The steering issue has just started recently, and the vehicle is out of factory warranty, but I do have Endurance extended warranty. The grabbing of the steering is getting worse and I am afraid it will lock up and cause an accident. Vehicle only has 60,065 miles on it and no accidents.

Steering "sticks" intermittently going around curves. It releases itself with a jerky action. I have been to the dealer for service. They could not simulate the problem of find any error codes. I am not alone with this issue. It poses a serious safety issue. It started it 2022 and has become progressively worse.

When driving at highway speeds while in a curve the steering will stick which causes u to possibly over correct and could cause an accident... and after doing some research this seems to be a very common complaint with these particular vehicles of the same year model and newer with no resolution ...

The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that on the second attempt to start the vehicle, the brake pedal was stuck on the floorboard and failed to return to its normal position. The contact stated that the vehicle could not be jumpstarted. An independent mechanic was contacted and advised the contact to depress the brake pedal harder to start the vehicle. The contact stated that a friend assisted in depressing the brake pedal harder, and the vehicle started; however, the windshield wipers engaged independently, Additionally, the steering wheel made an abnormal sound and became difficult to turn. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle on another occasion, the rotary gear shift dial lights failed to illuminate, and the message "Service Shifter" was displayed. The contact was able to drive to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or a dealer. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V348000 (Electrical System) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 81,270.

Vehicle steering gear is binding internally (confirmed by local service department). The safety concern with this is when steering at highway speeds the steering wheel locks and requires excessive force to move, which has not yet but almost caused an accident. There are no signs of outside force influencing this issue (ex. front end damage front collision or wheel mis-alignment). I have read online in an owners forum of several other cases where this is happening and that they recommend filling out a report with NHTSA as to make you aware of this in case of it being a larger issue. Vehicle has not been repaired yet as the part required is around $2,800 plus labor on top of that. I'm not filling this out to complain, but rather to make you aware of a potential safety issue of this particular model vehicle. Thank you for your time.

My car has been stalling while I drive and also it said power steering unavailable. Both happened while I was driving which almost caused an accident. Sometimes it stalls while I’m at the stop light and press on the gas to go. It says to shift to park and turn ignition on. It’s been happening for over a year for the stalling and for the power steering unavailable only 2x.

Jan 22, 2024

The vehicle was diagnosed with a short in the electrical steering cable. It started off with just a minor glitch when steering which caused the car to simply caused the car to shift into neutral but was quickly resolved by shifting the gear into park and then into drive. This resulted in a really major glitching in system while steering to where the car was shifted into neutral in the middle of driving and will not turn off the van or allow you to shift the vehicle into park. It also caused the windshield wipers to stay on without the ability to turn them off as well. This is an extremely dangerous issue for a commonly used family vehicle especially one travels the highway everyday. I’m just grateful we’re in our neighborhood going at a low speed with little to no cars traveling. On the highway this could have caused serious vehicular damage due to accidents and injury or fatalities for the person who has to push the car out of the road and the family riding in the car from impact. This Negligence of the manufacturer will cost my family $4521, which is just simply unfair. Im requesting thorough investigation on this matter with the a recall on all vehicles who can possibly have this issue as well.

Jan 16, 2024

The vehicle first malfunctioned 09/2022. All the signals on the dashboard came on including the wipers. Then the vehicle wouldn’t accelerate and stopped while driving in the middle of the road. I got it towed to a Chrysler dealership and they had it for 4 four months and couldn’t maintain power within the van. After 4 fours I received the van back and it was driving good. Recently, while out of town on 12/16/2023 the van began to run hot for the first time and I parked it. The next day it wouldn’t start and I got it towed to a nearby shop on 12/18/23 and I was told it was my starter. I replaced the starter and the shop said it was something with my engine due to white smoke coming out the exhaust pipes. I got it towed again to a nearby Chrysler dealership on 12/19/23 and they confirmed after doing the diagnostic, the service shop said I needed a new engine because the coolant leaked into the cylinder heads blowing the gaskets. I asked what caused this issue and they stated overheating. The vehicle has never shown signs of overheating such as smoking or the gauges going up until that night which was a brief 5 minutes because I parked the van. I have researched and seen multiple cases like mine in both circumstances with this same kind of vehicle and not1 recall has been placed. I maintenance the vehicle as required and believe this is a manufacturing issue.

Oct 17, 2023

1. When making turns to the right, the steering wheel sticks and requires a strong tug to the left to free it. Has happened on at least five separate occasions. Also sometimes just sticks slightly. 2. Caused car to swerve into next lane. Fortunately there was no other vehicle there at the time. 3. Have taken to dealer 3 times, but they are unable to replicate issue. 4. Has not been inspected. 5. No warning lights or symptoms.

When driving, car completely shuts down. Usually happens when we are slowing down or stopping, but has also happened when accelerating. No lights come on and never happens when we take it to a mechanic. Happened 10x today alone but 5x over last seven days. We thought it was an issue with the auxiliary battery, but continues to happen. 130k on 2017 Pacifica

STEERING ISSUE. Steering wheel sticks, does not return to center position without pulling on the steering wheel. When taken to dealership several times, the following response occurs. "Can Not Duplicate issue, Therefore Problem Does Not Exist!" Someone is going to be injured or killed, if this REAL PROBLEM IS NOT ADDRESSED!! This is not an isolated incident, hundred + + complaints, Exist. . . . .

When driving the for a while the steering is getting bound up it sticks slightly and you have to pull harder to correct it doesn't want to let me steer it back to straight, it sticks unexpectedly while your trying to steer back to straight

Aug 10, 2023

As many others have reported, the power steering is "sticking" and requires effort to come back to center. The dealer claims they "cannot replicate the problem." I am left to wonder if the problem from the 2019 recall is coming back to haunt us.

Jul 31, 2023

Steering sticks consistently when going around curves, usually around the 10 and 2 areas. Vehicle steering has to be manually forced back to midline. Occurs more frequently the longer the drive and usually at speeds only over 30mph.

the steering wheel on the vehicle sticks periodically when you are executing a slow turn or adjustment of the vehicle. This is particularly the case on the highway, when you are engaged in a slow turn of the steering wheel when changing lanes or when adjusting your position within a lane. The wheel will stick and then jump into the position that you wish the wheel to be in. This particularly happens in the 11 to 1 position of a turn or adjustment. This is not particularly noticeable in lower speed driving or around town. This issue has been ongoing over a year. We have had it in 4 times and no one can find anything. Upon researching online there have several complaints of this exact issue. See other complaints here. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

This has been happening on this 2017 Pacifica for about 12 months now. I feel that this puts the safety of occupants at risk. I have had this checked out by my regular service station.

This happens every single time we drive our Pacifica: Per many other complaints available online, the current gen Pacifica (2017-present), when equipped with ADAS such as lane keep assist, has a steering issue as follows: -under varying conditions, the vehicle's steering wheel will "stick." This issue typically follows a small steering input of 10-25 degrees in either direction. -When the steering wheel sticks, it presents 2 major safety issues: 1) the vehicle maintains its course and could collide with objects or veer off the road and 2) the sticking of the wheel is so severe at times that the counter-steering required to correct the "stick" presents a danger of driving into oncoming traffic. -Yes, Dodge of Boerne, TX, and it was "fixed" by securing a ground wire on the vehicle, but the problem continues to persist -Just dealership listed above -No Here are selections of other reports on this issue: https://www.pacificaforums.com/threads/2017-steering-problems.48061/ https://www.pacificaforums.com/threads/2017-steering-issue.50528/ https://www.pacificaforums.com/threads/the-steering-wheel-tries-to-turn-by-itself-when-driving-on-uneven-roads.23538/ https://www.carproblemzoo.com/chrysler/pacifica/2017/steering-problems.php I am guessing this issue is what was addressed at our service appointment, but it did not solve our specific issue: https://www.mlive.com/news/2019/05/fca-recalls-198k-pacifica-minivans-due-to-potential-issue-with-power-steering.html

The steering wheel is consistently sticking. I have had tires replaced alignments done the rack check however the problem persists. The steering sticking can cause my vehicle to enter oncoming traffic if it sticks to ard and i jerk it it could also cause an accident. There is currently no recalls in affect for my vehicle. It has been inspected by 3 independent shops. No warning lights or other problems have been noticed.

HELLO THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE. THIS WILL BE MY THIRD SET OF TIRES THAT ARE WORN IN A WAVEY PATERN. THE STEARING STICKS WHEN TURNING AT AROUND 40MPH AND THE WHEELE DOESNT RETURN ON ITS OWN ALSO AT LOW PARKING LOT SPEEDS IT SLIPS. I WAS MADE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE IN THE 2018 BUT I AM TOULD THIS DOESNT AFFECT THE 2017 BUT I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. THANK YOU

Jan 26, 2023

Our vehicle has the same issue that has been reported many many times on Chrysler Pacifica forums and to the NHTSA as well. After operating the vehicle for usually a couple of hours, the steering will stick, or fight you a little when you're trying to straighten out during a sweeping turn. When we were in the mountains that had numerous switch backs, it would happen just about continuously. After shutting off the vehicle and hiking, shopping, or whatever for a couple hours, the problem would go away for some time, but then after driving the vehicle for a while the problem would recur.

Dec 25, 2022

The steering wheel sticks when making a turn in either direction. (like getting on or off a ramp) It's requires me to use some force to move it and it can be felt by all in the car. This is not an isolated incident. It happens DAILY when driving this car. Additionally hundreds, if not thousands, of these EXACT same reports can be read on Pacifica owner forums and car review sites. This happens when going over 35mph. But will happen at highway speeds and has been going on for over a year.

Dec 12, 2022

Intermittent steering failure when travelling at high speeds At speeds above 40 mph on long sweeping curves, after initiating a turn, the steering wheel exhibits a "notchy" or "catching" resistance to input when returning the wheel to the neutral (straight-ahead) position. This feedback impacts steering wheel movement resulting in a dangerous over- or under-correction to steering. The vehicle was brought to 2 different Chrysler dealers to diagnose the issue. The second dealer replaced the steering rack and pinion assembly at the owner's cost. Various internet sources show numerous customer complaints about the same steering issue for this year/make/model, so this serious safety problem is not unique to this particular vehicle.

Nov 10, 2022

Steering wheel sticks in the middle of a turn. Also steering vibrates at slower speeds. The inconsistent steering makes it dangerous going around corners.

Nov 5, 2022

Our Pacifica's steering will "stick" when coming out of a curve. So far mostly right hand curves but is starting to stick going left slightly. This happens after driving a short amount of time and will continue the entire trip once it starts to malfunciton. It typically happens when doing normal back highway speeds in curves, i.e. 30-65 MPH. I have video evidence of these issues and have shown multiple Chrysler Service techs who say "nothing is wrong, steering is normal." The steering will continue to turn into the direction it was in even after letting go of steering wheel. Steering is supposed to return to center but instead requires an unsafe counter-directional tug of the steering wheel to get it to function properly again until the next curve. The steering wheel does this often when the curve requires the wheel to be held between the 10 o'clock positon and the 2 o'clock position. Multiple complaints online from the 2017 year group of this vehicle also. Chrysler does NOT want to fix the issues so I am resorting to reporting here. I have lost over $2000 in towing, 5 garage trips, and rental vehicle costs due to Chrysler's incompetence. 2 garages were home town type garages who also felt same issue as we did, but said since the steering is electrical, that they could not doing the work but recommended repairs from Chrysler certified garage. Why is it that Chrysler tech's see no wrongs with my vehicle? When someone is injured or dead, will Chrysler then listen?

Oct 24, 2022

I was driving for about 10 minutes going 40mph when the car dinged, the accelerator stopped working and the steering wheel became stiff and almost impossible to move. The screen said “shift to P to start”. I was able to pull to steering wheel just enough to pull over, and barely missed being in an accident. I put the car in park turned it off and turned it back on and it started again. 1 week prior I took the car to the dealer because the transmission seemed to be jerky and then it wouldn’t start. I got it towed to the dealer and they couldn’t replicate the jerky-ness and said it was because they battery was low and it was a connection issue. I got a new battery and a week later the car shut off while I was driving!

Oct 15, 2022

Steering "sticks" going around long turns like ramps at or above around 30 miles per hour. Requires force to get it to return to center.

Oct 12, 2022

Steering "sticks". When going around a slight curve the steering seems to get stuck in a certain position (usually approximately the 10:30 and 1:30 position depending on if curve is to the right or left). When straightening out the direction of the car, one has to "unstick" the position the steering wheel is stuck in by applying addition force to the steering wheel. This additional force could easily lead to an accident possibly causing one to cross over the line and hit an oncoming vehicle, crash into a car in the lane beside them, or go off the road. The problem is intermittent and mechanics have not be able to reproduce while testing. There are no warning lamps, messages or other indicators that this is going to happen or something needs tended to. This issue seems to be right in line with what many others have shared regarding their steering wheel "sticking" when navigating a curve.

Oct 11, 2022

My vehicle stalled without warning while driving. I lost power steering and everything shut down. I had to put it in park which wasn’t registering and shut off my vehicle and restart it for it to correct itself.

Sep 28, 2022

The steering frequently sticks when driving around curves. In order to get the steering unstuck, it requires a slight counter-steer. This counter-steer is very dangerous especially at higher rates of speed. At times, I am forced to counter-steer which results in crossing a double yellow line. I fear that if this problem persists or gets worse, a head on collision will result. No warning lamps have been observed. The problem was noted during the last insurance claim. Left and right strut mounts have been replace and the problem persists.

Sep 24, 2022

My Pacifica has random moments where the steering wheel feels really stiff while in motion. So stiff, It’s on the verge of me not being able to steer! It also has random moments where the engine will stall while I am in motion. Sometimes when I press the gas to accelerate it will have a moment of lagging then it will abruptly shift into a higher gear. I’m wondering if there is something seriously wrong and if I should stop driving it. I have four small children and I need reassurance that this vehicle is in fact safe. I’ve been hearing and reading stories of other Pacifica owners dealing with the same problems with severe consequences.

Sep 9, 2022

Steering wheel sticks when trying to come out of a turn to a straight position. Steering wheel doesn't return to center position without a forced jerk to center. This occurs at all levels of speed and is a hazard on all roads and highways. This is very concerning, because of the possibility of over corrections that could cause an accident or road departure. Chrysler has had a recall for certain models with auto stop installed, but the problem obviously goes beyond those models. A total recall should be published for the faulty steering angle sensor, code C2205-96.

My Pacifica suddenly will not start. I ended up jump-starting the van. Then whenever I stopped, it needed a jump start. This whole ordeal is from a single day. Driving back on the high-way, suddenly van acted weird, all electronics going haywire, various instrument "unavailable" messages started coming, and on the highway Van all systems failed, power steering locked, I pulled over and battery icon (red) came on as well. Car died. I re-jump started it and then drove again with seeing the battery fluctuating between 10.2 v to 16v. Then when we exited the highway, this time, the van stalled right in the middle of the road. No warning, nothing. I feel this is a single point of failure that if the battery is having an issue, (though it seems alternator) was charging it, it could have caused two crashes. I am really concerned. I have had dead batteries in my other cars but nothing like that where all instruments start acting weird. Also few other weird things happening during this time: passenger windows will come down automatically again and again and again while driving. All different security features sporadically say unavailable, airbag, esc, ACC, FCW etc.. This needs to be looked at as a "Single Point of Failure" issue.

Sep 6, 2022

When driving above 25-30 mph, the steering often "sticks" when coming out of a turn. This occurs when the steering wheel is at approximately the 10:30 position during left hand turns and the 1:30 position during right hand turns. The steering wheel "sticks" in these positions and will not return to center on its own, but requires considerable additional effort by the driver to overcome this stickiness when coming out of the turn. This problem has been reported numerous times on the Chrysler Pacifica forum on the Internet with no adequate explanation coming from Chrysler or others. This problem reportedly occurs on both gas and hybrid versions of the minivan, and is considered by all who report it as a significant safety risk to drivers and passengers alike. There are no warning messages. The dealer has no recommendations other than "possibly" an extremely expensive fix involving replacement of the rack and pinion mechanism and/or steering column replacement, but with no guarantees that this would solve the problem. The minivan has over 88,000 miles on it currently but this has been occurring since approximately the 50,000 mile point.

Sep 3, 2022

Power steering sticks intermittently causing the vehicle to remain in a state of turn, locks up. The steering wheel must be forced back out of the turn, causing an unpredictable situation when moving back to straight. This is a very dangerous situation to the point where I will not allow my younger drivers to operate the vehicle.

Aug 16, 2022

While turning (exiting off the highway) to the right while going about 65 mph, my steering wheel seemed to stick at 2 o’clock, and had to jerk the wheel to get it to re-center. Immediately after, I had to turn the wheel to the left while doing about 55mph, and it stuck again at about 11 o’clock, and I had to tug the wheel back to center to get it to re-center. For the next 5 minutes, the steering continues to feel as if it was sticking in one position. Even when driving straight, I had to slightly jerk the wheel to follow the very slight curve of the road, in both directions, going as slow as 25mph. About 10 turns, both left and right, where the steering stuck in the initial turn direction, and I had to jerk the wheel back to center. Issue stopped when I was able to stop and turn off the vehicle. This issue happened 4 days before, but not to this extent. It happened twice, within 10 min of each other, both during a turn to the right, at 60mph and 55mph respectively. It is available for indirection upon request. This is very concerning for my safety, because it could absolutely cause a crash, when the driver cannot completely control steering. This problem has not been confirmed by dealership or service center, nor inspected by anyone. There were no warning lights, messages, or symptoms before first occurance on 8-11-2022, or any symptoms before sudden sticking on 8-15-2022.

Aug 16, 2022

My 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Touring Minivan has a steering issue. Within the last several months, when driving at a variety of speeds, the steering wheel “sticks” in turns. It has occurred on regular side roads, secondary roads, and on the highway. It generally happens when turning the car slightly. Examples include: (1.) during a slight turn in the road in a yield situation, (2.) during a slight turn when there is a bend in the road, (3.) when making a slight turn while on the on-ramp on the highway, (4.) occasionally when switching lanes on the highway. During these situations, the steering wheel sticks and does not return to center, instead, it has to be forced out of the momentary stuck position causing unnatural/unpredictable realignment of the car (swerve, jerking the steering wheel, causing panic) . There are no associated lights or warnings. This problem first lead us to stop driving the car out of fear of getting into an accident (safety for ourselves and others). Then, upon research for similar problems on the internet, we see that there has been a recall for 2017-2019 Chrysler Pacificas for steering issues, but our VIN is not included. I’ve had mechanics to look at it, one kept it several weeks trying to find the issue, done research online, the only answers are there’s a problem but no one has a solution. All guess work. The Occupant Classification Module also has created problems with transmission failure. To be able to drive the van, you have to disconnect the passenger seat sensor. Driving down the road with the OCM connected it will suddenly lose power, transmission won’t shift, which can cause a wreck not being able to get out of the way or completing a maneuver. Anytime there’s a steering problem, random transmission problem, or loss of power in traffic, there’s a safety problem.

WE PURCHASED A 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A RED LIGHT, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND THE ONBOARD COMPUTER DISPLAYED A TRANSMISSION CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS NO TRANSMISSION CODE AND THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE CONTACT FUELING THE VEHICLE WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS TURNING LEFT AT AN INTERSECTION AT 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AGAIN AND STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. AFTER 5-6 SECONDS, THE VEHICLE JERKED FORWARD AND ACCELERATED AS THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AGAIN, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOUR TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE issues. Passenger side rear door opening and closing repeatly. Steering stiff and steering cloud locking and jerking the car to the right . Fail to accelerate. Lurking forward,.

On the directions of "Report A Safety Problem" of this website, the NHTSA writes, "What is a safety-related defect?.....An example of a safety-related defect is a steering component that breaks, causing a driver to lose control." I would say this falls under that category. Once I pay for my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica to be fixed (an estimate of $755.62 for parts and labor), I will upload a photo of the repair invoice.

I purchased this pre-owned vehicle back in Feb 2022. A few weeks ago, I noticed the steering of my vehicle requiring more effort to turn back straight once I was driving with the curve of the road. One day when I was turning my vehicle off. A warning message came up, to "Service Shifter". However, it came up once and never returned. I had it checked at Auto zone. They did not show any errors or issues. When I went to check the power steering fluid, I realized that it does not have fluid. But, instead some electric power steering system (not a fan). When I am the steering wheel sticks, when following the curve of the road, instead of the wheel returning to the center on its own. The steering sticks and I have to use extra effort to have the steering wheel return straight when needed. This is very concerning due to the safety associated with crossing other lanes unintentionally. This is putting myself at risks and other drivers on the road at risk, if my steering system is not functioning properly. I believe this is a major safety defect and should have a recall to be fixed. This steering issue happens regularly now when I am driving around curves.

Jul 6, 2022

Car stalled while driving with warning to service electrical module. Upon restarting, no power steering. If this occurred on a busy road, it would likely lead to an accident because the stall was sudden, and without being able to steer properly. After letting car rest for a while, it struggles to start, but power steering works now.

Jul 6, 2022

When turning around longer corners on the highway, the steering wheel jerks and I have to yank it free. The steering column was replaced and it did not help. Now they want to try replacing the struts. The van also jerks, stalls, catches a gear and bangs at different times. Most of the time this occurs from a full stop turning into a lane. When it stalls, it puts myself and children in danger if another car doesn't slow.

My “New to me” 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Touring L has a steering issue. When driving at a variety of speeds, and with gentle steering inputs, the steering wheel “sticks” in turns. I first noticed it on curves on the interstate, after I would input a slight right turn to follow the bend in the road, the steering wheel would not return to center on it’s own, as is normal. Instead it took a noticeable effort to pull the steering wheel out of the stuck position. Causing quite erratic steering inputs on the interstate. (For example, the steering sticks to the right, and I drift to the far right side of the lane, and then once I apply enough force to overcome the “jam” the steering releases, and I swerve back to the left of my lane). It happens very regularly, although not all the time. With time, I have gotten accustomed to it, and usually don’t leave my lane anymore. But I just hope it never happens at a critical time, or gets worse! It seems to only happen on gentle turns to the right. There are no associated lights or warnings. I am quite knowledgeable about cars; I have seen some people in online forums suggest that it might be an alignment, or the wrong tires, or ruts in the road. I am certain it is not that. The car is malfunctioning, I am certain of that. I would suspect it is an issue with the electric power steering system. But I wouldn’t rule out the rest of the steering system, or even some suspension issue. I have not had it to a dealer, or a shop yet. As the car is still pretty new to me. Still researching the problem through online forums.

6-8-22 Driving roughly 15 MPH through town square and screen said "shift to P" could not steer and vehicle shut off. No other warning lights or messages were displayed. Has not had any precious similar issues. I put it in park, turn the vehicle off and restarted it. Started fine.

The steering wheel sticks when you’re straightening back out from going around a curve. It doesn’t happen all the time but when it does it will continue for several days or weeks and then stop. It has been a continuous thing for months.

Nov 29, 2021

Steering sticks when going around light curves, wheel must be forced back out of stuck position. I've been following this thread and it seems to be an ongoing, unresolved problem with this car. This started a while after we bought the car (certified pre-owned). It has not yet caused an accident. No warning lights. https://www.pacificaforums.com/threads/2017-steering-problems.48061/page-3 We did have a battery completely die and have to be replaced, I don't remember if the problem started before that or not.

Oct 19, 2021

The steering wheel continues to get stuck/stick when turning curves. Happens whether I go right or left and at different speeds. This has been happening for over a year now.

1.What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The power steering wheel and YES 2.How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I have to drive with alert the whole time because I will not know when the steering wheel will stop working and if it stop working while taking corner or I have to turn the wheel very fast I wont be able to do so.which might cause an accident to me or hit other people. 3.Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? we took it to one place but they wont be able to identify it because it happens randomly. and we drop it at the dealership to check it but it has been 2 days since I dropped off but they did not do the inspection yet. 4.Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No 5.Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The power steering wheel warning light will come up randomly while driving slow, fast or start and stay at the same place but it will not show up right away when you first start. It first appear around a month ago.

1) Steering - when driving, the steering wheel almost feels “stuck” when turning and going at least 40mph. It feels like it has to be “jerked” back to straighten it out causing concern for over correction. Took to Chrysler dealership and was told they could find nothing wrong but did an update on my power steering. Seems to be happening more often. 2. Power train - while taking off from a stopped position or driving slowly (ie: parking lot) the vehicle shifts so hard it feels like you’ve been rear ended. Again Chrysler dealership could find nothing wrong but this also happens frequently.

Power steering failure while driving. I have to pull over which is very hard, turn off/on car until power steering engages. I have owned the vehicle for 14 months and it has happened about 8 times over that period. Other Chrysler Pacifica's have power steering recalls, but my model does not.

WE PURCHASED THE CAR IN 2018. THE VEHICLE'S POWER STEERING ALWAYS STARTS TO LOCK/STICK INTO ONE DIRECTION AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR 45 MINUTES OR SO. IT IS MOST NOTICABLE ON THE HWY AT SPEEDS OF 70 MPH OR ABOVE, BUT ON LONGER TRIP AS THE CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING LONGER, THE POWER STERRING LOCKING/STICKING TAKES PLACE LOWER SPEEDS AS WELL. WHEN THW POWER STEERING STARTS TO LOCK/STICK, IT REQUIRES A JERK FORCE ON THE STERRING WHEEL TO STRAIGHTEN IT OUT AND THIS CAN EASILY CAUSE OVERSTEERING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. ONCE THE PROBLEM STARTS IT IS CONSTANT AND YOU HAVE TO ALWAYS FIGHT AGAINST THE POWER STEERING. IT IS DANGEROUS AND WE ARE GETTING RID OF THE CAR. WE HAVE TAKEN IT SEVERAL TIMES TO THE CHRYSLER DEALESHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT (MOPAR) AND THEY HAVE ALWAYS TOLD ME THE POWER STEERING NEEDS AN UPDATE AND HAVE NEVER RESOLVED THE ISSUE. THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM EITHER.

MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING MY 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA ON 9/9/2019 AROUND AN S TURN WHEN SUDDENLY THE VAN LOST ITS POWER STEERING. HE COULD NOT CONTROL THE VEHICLE THAT WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. HE COULDN'T BREAK AND THE VAN HIT A CURB WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO BLOW OUT BOTH DRIVER SIDE TIRES AND RIP THE DRIVERS FRONT STRUT APART. IN JUNE OF 2019 AFTER RECEIVING THE NOTICE OF RECALL V53, I TOOK MY VAN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THAT RECALL AND ANY OTHER RECALLS IT MAY HAVE. I WAITED APPROXIMATELY AND 1 HOUR AND 30 MINUTES WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS BEING FIXED. I WAS TOLD THAT ALL WERE COMPLETED AND WAS HANDED THE KEYS. RIGHT AFTER THE ACCIDENT I RECEIVED AN EMAIL ABOUT THE RECALL. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THEY DIDN'T FIX RECALL NUMBER V53. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT THE ACCIDENT AND THEY SENT AN INVESTIGATOR OUT TO INSPECT THE VAN. IN RETURN I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FCA SAYING THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY ISSUES. I FORMALLY BELIEVE A MALFUNCTION HAPPENED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL MONTHS SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE IT HAD SHOWED SIGNS OF AN EXISTING PROBLEM WHICH WE MADE COMPLAINTS AT THE DEALERSHIP AND NOTHING WAS EVER FOUND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTO PLAZA CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM FARMINGTON (970 E WOODLAWN DR, FARMINGTON, MO 63640, (573) 431-7800) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION MODULE DEFAULTED AND THE POWER STEERING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,300.

OUR PACIFICA HAS A PROBLEM WHEN STARTING FROM A COMPLETE STOP, ACCELERATING, USUALLY AROUND A TURN. EXACTLY AT 15-18 MPH (FIRST TO SECOND OR SECOND TO THIRD GEARS), THE VAN WILL HAVE A VERY LARGE JERK, THE GAS PEDAL MUST BE RELEASED, LOSING ACCELERATION. ONCE THIS HAS PASSED, YOU CAN PROCEED WITH ACCELERATING AS NORMAL. THE JOLT FROM THE SHIFT FEELS LIKE YOU HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED, CAUSING SLIGHT WHIPLASH IF YOU ARE NOT READY FOR IT. THIS PROBLEM USUALLY COME IN SPURTS, NOT HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL WEEKS, THEN 1 OR 2 A DAY FOR A FEW DAYS. THE DEALER REVIEWED THE PROBLEM AND "WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE" SO NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE ACCORDING TO THEM. THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED SINCE ABOUT 10,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER.

DRIVING MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES OF BRIEF LOSS OF POWER STEERING AT SPEED IN MOTION. HESITATION, DIFFICULT, HARD TO TURN. GOOGLED THIS ISSUE AN OBSERVED A FCA RECALL. I CALLED FCA CUSTOMER SERVICES AND THEY STATED MY VEHICLE IS NOT IN THE RECALL BY VIN. HOWEVER IT IS AN EARLY 2017 MODEL.. I AM FILING THIS AS MY WIFE REPORTED THIS TO ME FOR THE FIRST TIME THAT IT HAD OCCURRED TO HER RECENTLY WHEN DRIVING. AFTER SHE TOLD ME 3 MILES LATER WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT SPEED OFT 45MPH IN A WIDE SWEEPING TURN THE STEERING RESISTED INPUT ON ME TO RETURN TO CENTER AND CAUGHT ME BY SURPRISE FOR A BRIEF SECOND THEN RESUMED BACK TO NORMAL. AT THAT MOMENT I MYSELF HAD JUST WHAT SHE TOLD ME HAPPENED TO HER MULTIPLE TIMES RECENTLY WHEN DRIVING. WE NO LONGER WANT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND DEEM IT A SAFETY RISK DUE TO THIS STEERING ISSUE.

I CONTINUE TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH "JERKING" WHILE DRIVING MY 2017 PACIFICA. THE BEST WAY I CAN DESCRIBE IT AS THE CAR "JERKS" FORWARD VERY FORCEFULLY. I HAVE HAD IT IN 6 TIMES FOR THE SAME "JERKING" MOTION. I AM CONCERNED THAT IT MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF IT JERKS AND COMPLETELY STOPS. THE "JERKING" HAPPENS AT VERY RANDOM TIMES, ACCELERATION, COASTING, CRUISE CONTROL USE, AND SLOWING DOWN. SOME DAYS IT HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY, AND OTHERS IT CAN GO A WEEK OR TWO WITHOUT HAPPENING. CHRYSLER HAS REPLACED VALVES AND THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION UNIT, HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM IS STILL HAPPENING. FOR THE PAST MONTH, WHEN THE JERKING HAPPENS, THE STEERING WHEEL NOW ATTEMPTS TO LOCK AND THIS DIDN'T START HAPPENING UNTIL CHRYSLER STARTED "MESSING" WITH PARTS. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED WITH 18K MILES ON IT AS A "CHRYSLER CERTIFIED VEHICLE." I HAVE FILED A CASE WITH CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD I WOULD BE CONTACTED WITHIN 24-48 HOURS AND IT HAS BEEN 8 DAYS WITH NO CONTACT FROM THEM. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO THEM DAY AFTER DAY AND STILL HAVEN'T RECV'D A CALL BACK. I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS ON BUSY ROADS WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR FOR FEAR OF AN ACCIDENT.

INITIALLY, WHILE DRIVING, A BRIEF WARNING MESSAGE WOULD FLASH ON THE DRIVER'S INFO CLUSTER THAT THE "POWER STEERING WAS UNAVAILABLE" AND THEN THE WARNING WOULD GO AWAY VERY QUICKLY. HOWEVER, THE WARNING BEGAN COMING ON MORE FREQUENTLY, ALWAYS WHILE DRIVING, AND IT WOULD STAY ON, RESULTING IN A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THIS WAS VERY FRIGHTENING SINCE IN THE LARGE VAN IT BECAME DIFFICULT TO CONTROL WHILE DRIVING AT BOTH HIGHWAY AND SIDE-STREET SPEEDS. WHEN THE ENGINE WOULD BE TURNED OFF AND THEN RESTARTED, THE MALFUNCTION WOULD RESOLVE, HOWEVER, IT BEGAN HAPPENING MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY, SOMETIMES MULTIPLE TIMES DURING A SHORT DRIVE. IT WAS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS THE POWER STEERING COULD HAVE POTENTIALLY GONE OUT AT ANY TIME, SUCH AS A HIGHWAY CORNER, RESULTING IN LOSS OF CONTROL. THE CAR IS NOW IN THE SHOP WHILE THEY ARE TRYING TO FIND A REPAIR FOR THE PROBLEM BUT AS OF NOW THEY ARE SAYING IT IS ELECTRONIC AND NOT MECHANICAL.

MY ISSUES STARTED WHEN MY AUTO START/STOP STOPPED WORKING. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE ACCESSORY BATTERY WAS DEAD AND THEY DIDN'T HAVE A REPLACEMENT IN. THAT IT WAS IN BACKORDER. THEN MY MAIN BATTERY WENT DEAD. I HAD TO HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY REPLACED MY MAIN BATTERY AND AGAIN THEY MADE MENTIONED THAT THE AUTO START/STOP DIDN'T WORK. I SAID I KNOW THE ACCESSORY BATTERY IS DEAD AND THAT IT WAS ON BACKORDER. I WAS TOLD TO BRING THE VAN BACK IN THE FOLLOWING WEEK AND THEY WOULD TEST THE ACCESSORY BATTERY AGAIN AND REPLACE IT IF WAS BAD. TOOK THE VAN BACK. THEY SAID IT WASN'T THE BATTERY THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG ELECTRICAL BECAUSE TOO MANY VOLTS WAS BEING OUTPUTTED. AT THIS TIME I MADE MENTION OF THE POWER STEERING ISSUE. I GOT A WARNING LIGHT SAYING IT WASN'T WORKING. WAS TOLD NOTHING SHOWED UP ON THE COMPUTER ABOUT THE POWER STEERING. TOOK VAN BACK IN FOR THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TO BE EVALUATED. MY HUSBAND DROVE THE VAN AND ON THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP TJE POWER STEERING SYSTEM CUT OFF AND THEN IN MID TURN CUT BACK ON ALMOST CAUSING HIM TO HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD ON. TOLD DEALERSHIP OF THE PROBLEM AND ALSO THE JERKING ISSUES WHEN SHIFTING INTO LOWER GEARS. DEALERSHIP ACTUALLY FIGURED OUT IT WAS THE ACCESSORY BATTERY THAT WAS DEAD SO THEY REPLACED IT. THEN WHILE THEY HAD IT THEY HAD ISSUES WITH THE POWER STEERING CUTTING ON/OFF. SO THEY SAID IT WAS THE RACK & PINION. THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUES WITH THE VAN JERKING INTO LOWER GEARS. WELL HERE WE ARE A MONTH LATER AND MY POWER STEERING IS STILL CUTTING OFF/ON WHILE DRIVING CAUSING NEAR CAR ACCIDENTS. THE VAN STILL JERKS SOMETIME WHEN TRYING TO GET INTO LOWER GEARS. CALLED CHRYSLER CONSUMER NUMBER AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD GET BACK WITH ME. THE POWER STEERING ISSUES IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD, CAN'T GET VAN INTO THE DEALERSHIP TILL NEXT WEEK BECAUSE THEY ARE BEHIND.

POWER STEERING FAILING COMPLETELY. STARTED INTERMITTENTLY AND WAS FIRST ADVISED THAT A 'LOW BATTERY' CAUSED A POWER SPIKE IN THE POWER STEERING UNIT AND THEY CHARGED THE BATTERY. THEN IT HAPPENED MORE FREQUENT AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT TO THE POWER STEERING UNIT ITSELF WHICH TOOK A WEEK TO REPLACE. THEN TWO DAYS LATER THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE ENTERING A 90 DEGREE CURVE AT 35 MPH. AFTERWARDS I COULD SIT IDLING, WATCHING THE VOLTAGE WANDER BETWEEN 11 VOLTS AND 15 VOLTS, AND HAVE POWER STEERING, BUT AS SOON AS I TURNED ON THE HEADLIGHTS OR FOGLIGHTS OR PUT IT IN GEAR, THE VOLTAGE WOULD STABILIZE AT 14.6-14.8 VOLTS AND THE POWER STEERING WOULD TURN OFF. IT'S BEEN A WEEK AND THEY JUST CONTACTED CHRYSLER. I'M AT 15 DAYS IN THE SHOP BETWEEN FAILED SECONDARY BATTERY, AND A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE POWER STEERING AND NO END IN SITE. WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILS, THERE IS PRACTICALLY NO WAY TO TURN THE VEHICLE UNLESS YOU HAVE SIGNIFICANT STRENGTH IN THE ARMS. A NORMAL SIZED WOMAN WOULD ONLY HAVE ONE RECOURSE AND THAT IS TO STOP ABRUPTLY. THIS WILL LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. WHEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON ME AT 35 MPH, I HAD NO ABILITY TO ABRUPTLY STOP AS I HAD A CAR IMMEDIATELY BEHIND ME. THAT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN BEING REAR ENDED. IF I HADN'T BEEN ABLE TO STEER IT BY SHEER BRUTE FORCE, WE WOULD HAVE CRASHED INTO THE TREES ALONG THE ROAD. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THE POWER STEERING WOULD FAIL WHILE SITTING STILL, MUCH LESS DRIVING LIKE IT DID WHEN IT FIRST STARTED. I HAVE VIDEO OF THE POWER STEERING GOING IN AND OUT WHILE SITTING IN THE DRIVE WAY.

MY GIRLFRIEND WAS DRIVING MY PACIFICA. SHE EXPERIENCED THE CAR JUMP AND SHE DESCRIBED IT AS BEING HIT FROM BEHIND. THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE VEHICLE FORCED ITSELF TO TURN HARD LEFT AND CAUSE HER TO HIT A BOX TRUCK. SHE THEN BOUNCED OFF THAT CAR AND HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. SHE SAID THE BRAKES WEREN'T WORKING TO GOOD EITHER. THIS CAR ONLY HAD 11,186 MILES ON IT. I HAVE REPORTED A SIMILAR ISSUE OF MY VEHICLE JUMPING LIKE IT WAS PUSHED FROM BEHIND OR A JOLT OF POWER LIKE THE TRANS WAS SLIPPING, ONLY MONTHS INTO OWNING THE VEHICLE. IT WAS TAKEN IN AND LOOKED AT MORE THAN ONCE BY MY DEALERSHIP, BUT THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, THERE WERE NO CODES, AND THEREFORE THEY COULDN'T FIND OR FIX THE PROBLEM. NOW THE PROBLEM CAUSED A CAR ACCIDENT AND LUCKILY MY KIDS WERE NOT IN THE VEHICLE. THE CAR AIR BAGS ALSO FAILED TO DEPLOY EVEN THOUGH IT EXPERIENCED IMPACT ON BOTH SIDES AT 30-35 MPH. THE FRONT END WAS DESTROYED PRETTY GOOD, SO I AM IN SHOCK THE AIR BAGS WERE NOT DEPLOYED. NOW THE DASH INDICATES THE AIR BAGS NEED SERVICE? AFTER THE ACCIDENT THE CAR WOULD NOT SHUT DOWN AND 3 OFFICERS FELT THE CAR WAS MALFUNCTIONING. UPON LOOKING INTO MY SERVICE RECORDS I NOTICED SOMETHING ODD. MY "CHRYSLER APP" SHOWS NHSTA RECALL # 18V-049 AS BEING COMPLETED ACCORDING TO THE VIN. BUT MY LAST VISIT TO MY DEALER IN FEB OF 2018 INDICATED THERE WAS NO FIX AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. HOW CAN IT SHOW COMPLETED THEN? I REALIZED THAT THE ISSUES SHE EXPERIENCED, AND MY SELF, ARE SIMILAR TO THE SYMPTOMS IN THIS RECALL. THERE MAY BE ANOTHER SIMILAR...SERIOUS ISSUE, THAT HAS TO BE LOOKED INTO. SOME TYPE OF MALFUNCTION CAUSED THIS CAR TO JUMP AND DRIVE RIGHT INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THIS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS IF YOU PUT THIS SAME SITUATION ON AN EXPRESSWAY GOING 55 MPH+, ESPECIALLY IF THE AIR BAGS FAIL TO DEPLOY *TT

I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN THE SCREEN SAID THAT I NEEDED TO STOP/START RESTART THE CAR. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND TRIED TURNING IT BACK ON. THERE WAS A CLICKING NOISE, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START BUT EVERYTHING ELSE POWERED BACK ON. I DID THIS A COUPLE OF TIMES AND EVERY TIME I TRIED STARTING THE CAR THERE WAS JUST CLICKING AND IT WOULD NOT START. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AGAIN, OPENED THE CAR DOOR SO THAT EVERYTHING WOULD POWER OFF. I THEN CLOSED THE DOOR AND IT STARTED BACK UP.

THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE IN MOTION AND WHILE SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO THE SECOND GEAR OR FROM SECOND TO THIRD GEAR. AFTER IT STALLS FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS THE VEHICLE JUMPS. IT IS NOT SOMETHING CONSTANT THAT WILL OCCUR, ONLY SOMETIMES AND THE DEALER CANNOT REPRODUCE THE OCCURRENCE AND THEY CANNOT TAKE ANY ACTION TO FIX IT (AT LEAST THIS IS THEIR RESPONSE). THE COMPUTER IS NOT RECORDING ANY MALFUNCTION. WHEN THIS OCCURS BUT YOU CANNOT ACCELERATE OR DECELERATE, OR DO ANYTHING TO AVOID ANY POTENTIAL ACCIDENT. I SUBMITTED THE VEHICLE TO TWO CHRYSLER DEALERS FOR A CHECK AND BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T REPRODUCE THE INCIDENT THEY TOLD ME TO WAIT UNTIL SUCH ISSUE OCCURS MORE CONSTANT. THIS IS A VERY DISTURBING APPROACH BECAUSE IT HAPPENS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND CAN PROVOKE AN ACCIDENT. WHEN THE DEALER WAS ASKED IF THE PROBLEM IS COMMON, THEY COULD NOT ANSWER. THIS IS THE SAME PART ON EVERY FIAT CHRYSLER OF AMERICA VEHICLE WITH THIS FEATURE. THIS SYSTEM HAS THE ABILITY TO TAKE THE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE FROM THE DRIVER AND DIRECT THE VEHICLE IN THE APPROPRIATE DIRECTION. IF THIS ITEM IS FUNCTIONING INCORRECTLY, IT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO STEER THE VEHICLE INTO OTHER VEHICLES AND ON COMING TRAFFIC. THIS FEATURE FAILED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT NEAR HIGHWAY SPEEDS (55 MPH) IN HEAVY TRAFFIC.

IT'S JUST STOP MIDWAY AND I'LL HAVE TO MANUALLY PUSH IT SHUT CLOSE. WITHIN LATER MONTHS (BEGINNING AROUND OCTOBER) MY BEGAN TO JERK BACK EVERY SO OFTEN (ABOUT TWICE A WEEK) WHILE DRIVING. IT'S HAPPENED AT BOTH HIGH AND LOW SPEEDS SO I'M NOT SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I'VE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER MULTIPLE TIMES BUT THEY DON'T HAVE A SOLUTION OR 'FIX' FOR THE PROBLEM. SINCE THEY DON'T HAVE A SOLUTION THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. RECENT MONTH (DECEMBER/JANUARY) THE JERKING IS GETTING WORSE. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS OVER THE PAST 6 MONTHS, THIS VEHICLE HAS LOST POWER, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO HAVE NO ABILITY TO STEER THE VEHICLE, ACCELERATE, OR BRAKE UNTIL IT COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED UNDER A RANGE OF DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES - WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 15 MPH IN A PARKING LOT AND ALSO WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH. THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS OF OTHERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER ON ONLINE FORUMS (E.G., PACIFICAFORUMS.COM), AND SOME OF THESE OCCURRENCES HAVE BEEN REGISTERED AT HIGHER SPEEDS. EACH TIME WE HAVE BROUGHT IT TO A CHRYSLER SERVICE CENTER, MECHANICS HAVE ADVISED THAT ALL DIAGNOSTIC TESTS DO NOT REVEAL ANY ISSUES AND EFFORTS AT DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE SIMILARLY COME BACK NEGATIVE. ALL OTHERS WHO CLAIM TO HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THEIR PACIFICA HAVE REPORTED SIMILAR NEGATIVE TEST RESULTS, WITH NO REMEDIATION PROPOSED. THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE RISK. WE CAN BE CONTACTED AT [XXX]. THANK YOU. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR..UPDATED 10/23/17 *BF UPDATED 9/7/18*JB

I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA AND WAS HAD 309 MILES ON THE CAR WHEN I HAD THIS INCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65MPH IN THE LEFT MOST LANE WHEN I SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER TO THE ENGINE, STEERING, AND BRAKES AND WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE OR BRAKE NORMALLY. I USED QUITE A BIT OF STRENGTH TO MANEUVER THE CAR TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER AND NEARLY WAS REAR ENDED BY A SEMI TRUCK IN DOING SO AS THERE WAS NO SHOULDER ON THE LEFT HANDS SIDE. DURING THIS TIME PERIOD, ALL OF THE LIGHTS IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WERE FLASHING VARIOUS WARNINGS AND FAILURE SYMBOLS. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER, SHUT OFF THE CAR AND RESTART IT AT WHICH POINT THE CAR WAS VIOLENTLY SHAKING AND AGAIN GIVING MANY FLASHING WARNINGS. I DROVE AT A MAX SPEED OF 16MPH TO A SAFER LOCATION OFF THE HIGHWAY AT WHICH POINT THE CAR AGAIN STALLED AND STOPPED. THE CAR WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER. ..UPDATED 10/25/17 *BF UPDATED 10/30/2017*JS

VEHICLE SHUTDOWN: AS I APPROACHED A YIELD SIGN ON A SUBDIVISON STREET, I SLOWED TO A FEW MPH BEFORE ACCELERATING SLOWLY AGAIN. THE VEHICLE THEN LOST POWER AND STEERING (IT SHUTDOWN). I LOOKED AT MY DASH AND IT READ "VEHICLE MUST BE IN PARK TO START." I APPLIED THE BRAKE AND STOPPED WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO STEER. I THEN TURNED THE GEAR KNOB TO PARK AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND WENT ON MY WAY. I AM THANKFUL THEIR WAS NO TRAFFIC AS THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT...UPDATED 10/30/17 *BF UPDATED 11/13/217*JS

HIGHWAY SPEED, HEAVY TRAFFIC, ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPPED. WARNING SOUNDS AND LIGHTS ON DASH. LOSS OF POWER STEERING. HAD TO COME TO COMPLETE STOP IN MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY TRAFFIC, PLACE IN PARK, DEPRESS BRAKE, PUSH START BUTTON. OCCURRED JUNE 22, 2017 ABOUT 3200 MILES ON NEW VEHICLE. NO RESOLUTION FROM DEALERSHIP OR CHRYSLER. CHRYSLER INSTRUCTED DEALERSHIP TO REPORT LOANER CAR AS STOLEN. ALSO REQUESTED DATA RECORDER BE INSTALLED AND I CONTINUE TO DRIVE UNTIL OCCURS AGAIN. I REFUSED TO PLACE MY FAMILY AT RISK. HAVE SINCE PURCHASED OTHER BRAND REPLACEMENT VEHICLE AND AM TRYING TO ARRANGE BUY-BACK...UPDATED 11/07/17 *BF UPDATED 11/09/2017*JS

I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY (WITH MY KIDS IN THE BACKSEATS) AND SUDDENLY (FOR NO REASON) THE VEHICLE LOST ALL ELECTRICITY (INCLUDING, POWER STEERING, ENGINE, HEADLIGHTS, DASHBOARD LIGHTING). THE DASHBOARD ONLY SAID "PUT CAR INTO PARK AND RESTART." THANKFULLY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER PARTIALLY ONTO THE SIDE AND RESTART THE CAR AFTER IT WAS IN PARK. (THIS HAPPENED A SECOND TIME A FEW MINUTES LATER BUT IN THAT CASE THE ELECTRICITY CAME BACK ON ITSELF AFTER A FEW MOMENTS.) THIS WAS A SCARY AND DANGEROUS EXPERIENCE.....UPDATED 11/03/17 *BF UPDATED 11/09/2017*JS

WHILE DRIVING OUR VAN IT BECAME COMPLETELY UNCONTROLLABLE AT ANY SPEED GREATER THAN ABOUT 25 MPH. VAN ROCKED AND PITCHED VIOLENTLY AND I AM CONVINCED IT WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AND LIKELY FLIPPED VAN IF IT OCCURRED AT 40+ MPH. DEALER DISCOVERED REAR SUSPENSION HAD BROKEN COMPLETELY AWAY FROM BRACKET. A COMPLETE BRACKET FAILURE ON RIGHT REAR WHICH ALLOWED THE WHOLE RIGHT REAR OF THE VAN TO MOVE INDEPENDENTLY OF VAN. IT WAS ALSO DISCOVERED DURING INSPECTION THAT THE SAME BRACKET ON THE LEFT SIDE WAS CRACKED AND ALSO FAILING. THE VAN IS A MOBILITY VAN AND HAS BEEN MODIFIED BY A COMPANY CALLED VMI. THE VAN HAS BEEN LIGHTLY USED AND HAS LESS THAN 9000 MILES ON IT. I STRESS AGAIN THAT THE VAN BECAME COMPLETELY UNCONTROLLABLE WITHOUT ANY KNOWN CAUSE. I BELIEVE THERE IS GREAT CHANCE OF DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY FROM THIS APPARENT DEFECT. *TT UPDATED 10/1/18*JB

LAST NIGHT, WHILE DRIVING APPROX 40MPH, OUR BRAND NEW 2017 PACIFICA LTD SHUT DOWN. THE ENGINE SUDDENLY, WITH NO WARNING, JUST STOPPED. THE DOT ABOVE THE 'D' (FOR DRIVE) STARTED FLASHING, AND A MESSAGE FLASHED: 'SHIFT TO P TO START.' WE CAME TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I PUT IT IN PARK AND THEN WAS ABLE TO TURN IT BACK ON. I HAD BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL, SO I NEVER TOUCHED THE STARTER BUTTON. THE KEY FOB WAS IN MY PURSE, WHICH WAS NOT MOVED. THANKFULLY WE WERE NOT ON A HIGHWAY, SO NOBODY RAN INTO US. I DROPPED IT OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING, AND THEY JUST TOLD ME THEY CANNOT RECREATE THE ERROR. WE'VE HAD IT FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS, AND WE'VE DRIVEN IT 1500 MILES, MOSTLY HIGHWAY.....UPDATED 11/03/17 *BF UPDATED 11/09/2017*JS

I WAS TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT AND MY 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA SUDDENLY TURNED OFF. THE DISPLAY SAID SOMETHING ALONG THE LINE OF "CAR MUST BE IN PARK." I HAD TO PUT MY CAR BACK IN PARK AND RESTART THE ENGINE. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER CAR WHO WAS NOT EXPECTING ME TO STOP. NOW THAT I AM RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, I'M FINDING THAT SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE AND CHRYSLER HAS NO IDEA WHY IT'S HAPPENING. I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE MY CAR NOW. WHAT IF THIS HAPPENS ON THE EXPRESS WAY TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS OR WHILE DRIVING THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS? ..UPDATED 07/20/17 *BF *CN

MY LOCAL DEALER (CONFIRMED BY FCA LLC) HAS TOLD ME THAT WE CANNOT GET THE AUTONOMOUS BRAKING AND LANE ASSIST ON THE PACIFICA TOURING TRIM LEVEL; ONLY ON THE MORE EXPENSIVE TOURING L-PLUS! THESE SHOULD BE OPTIONS ON ALL TRIM LEVELS SO A FAMILY WHO WANTS SAFETY MORE THAN FANCY CAN SPEND THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY ON SAFETY OPTIONS AND NOT BE FORCED TO PAY $7000 MORE FOR FANCY TO BE ABLE TO GET MORE SAFETY!!!! CAN YOU PUT PRESSURE ON THEM TO OFFER THE ALP ADVANCED SAFETY OPTION ON LOWER TRIM LEVELS?
