A slow coolant leak is draining the coolant from the reservoir into the engine. This has happened twice now and no external leaks can be found. The first instance in June 2021 was on a trip from Goldsboro, NC to Antigo, WI. We made it to Chicago and noticed the engine temp climbing. We thought it was due to the trip and heat but had just stopped in Ohio the day prior. We took the vehicle to a local shop and they told us the coolant was nearly gone. The second time happened just [XXX] when I took my Pacifica in for an oil change. The shop stated my coolant was very low and they had to fill it up. They again found no visible external leak. I had noticed that it was low as well the day prior after getting home and knowing the shop is less than 2 miles away I knew I could get the van there safely. I did notice the temperature going up quickly even though it has been bitterly cold the last few days. I've been doing research and found many Pacifica and other online forums stating this issue had led to engine failures totaling repair costs in excess of $5,000 as of 2023 before continued inflation. This poses a huge safety risk for motorists if the engine fails while in transit as well as during extreme weather both cold and hot. Please hold the manufacturer accountable to fix this common defect for those of us who cannot afford a new vehicle. We bought our brand-new Chrysler van in 2019. On [XXX] the oil filter housing needed to be replaced due to cheap manufacturing parts. It cost us $918.78. In October of 2025, we were experiencing some shaking in our van. Upon investigation, it was diagnosed with a blown head gasket. The repair was estimated at $3000 - $4000. The mileage on our van was a little over 93,000 miles. We were meticulous with the maintenance of our van. This, according to Chrysler Pacifica owner online forums, is not uncommon. There is a general outrage at the obvious manufacturing error. Is there any class action lawsuit ongoing? Is there any recourse available? Chrysler should pay out due to their shoddy work. The vehicle jerked, stopped and would not start again. After a while it started, people were honking to move. This happened about 3 years ago. The vehicle jerks often and afraid it will leave us on the street. About 2 years ago, the auxiliary battery ran down the main battery. The car would not start. Had to buy both batteries. The lights come on, engine, traction and auxiliary battery light. This happens often on a weekly basis.
While driving light came on that car was hot. Immediately pulled over and had the van towed. Was told the head gasket was blown which damaged the engine. Engine now needs to be replaced. Cheapest estimate has been $9,000 at a dealership, van isn’t even paid off yet. My 5 children were in the car when this happened I was afraid the vehicle was going to stop in the middle of the rd. No other warnings or anything. Also when we first purchased van was idle and then go silent like it’s supposed to we have noticed it doesn’t even get quiet anymore. Very disappointed family of 7 with no way to have our van repaired.
There was a battery safety recall (72B) letter sent to me for potential fire danger. While stopped at a red light my van alerted me that the start/Stop feature was not working, turned itself off and put the van in Park causing much confusion and my almost getting reended as I was unsure what to do.
Vehicle Incident Summary – 2019 Chrysler Pacifica [XXX] is the orginal owner Initial Incident – [XXX] At 50,779 miles, my 2022 Chrysler Pacifica lost all power while driving on Mound Road in Sterling Heights, MI. Officer Nathan Sears from the Sterling Heights Police Department assisted, and the vehicle had to be towed. The diagnosis at the time was complete battery failure—both batteries were replaced. Current Ongoing Issue – [XXX] At 86,000 miles, the vehicle once again became completely inoperable. It was towed to Jim Riehl’s Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Warren, MI. I was initially told the issue was the starter, and I paid $1,200 for the repair. However, the vehicle still does not start. I have now been told the issue may be a blown head gasket or engine failure. The dealership is requesting an additional $2,000–$3,000 just to disassemble the vehicle to determine the exact cause. If it is indeed an engine failure, I’ve been informed that repairs could cost up to $12,000. Concerns: I paid for a starter replacement and the car remains undrivable. There was no resolution or refund offered despite a misdiagnosis. Now I am being asked to pay thousands more just to identify the problem. If this is engine failure, it occurred at only 86,000 miles. I have since found many other Pacifica owners reporting similar failures—battery, engine, and complete loss of power—raising concerns of a potential manufacturing defect. Why I’m Reporting This: This vehicle has experienced major, potentially dangerous failures twice—first a complete power loss while driving, and now possible engine failure without warning. If this had happened at higher speeds or on the highway, it could have been catastrophic. I am requesting this issue be investigated for possible safety defects and design flaws. VIN: [XXX] 3.6 liter VG engine Location: Sterling Heights/Warren, MI Dealership: Jim Riehl’s Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
As I'm driving down the road my MIL comes on and tells me to pull over the engine will shut off. My vehicle has had the recall completed. This happened to me on the interstate with my family in the van. This is our only vehicle for the family and need it everyday. Now my dealership is telling me that it isn't a recall issue and I might have to pay for the repairs. This light started coming on about a week ago, and doesn't always come on. But it started to happen more frequently.
The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the transmission skipped gears. Additionally, the vehicle was experiencing erratic transmission shifts and unintended deceleration. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that upon attempting to shift to drive(D), the gear shifter failed to respond and remained stuck in park(P). The contact researched the failure online and found information on how to override the gear shifter failure. The contact pressed the Push to Start button twice, without depressing the brake pedal, depressed the accelerator for ten seconds, and pressed the Push to Start button to turn off the vehicle. The contact stated that upon restarting the vehicle minutes later, the vehicle responded as needed and the gear shifter became operable. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring intermittently. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: RQ24004 (Electrical System). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
Mileage: 20,000
The head gasket leaks, full engine replacement is recommended. No accidents, only 79k miles on the engine.
My vehicle suddenly lost power driving down the road at approximately 20MPH. I rolled to the side and the vehicle engaged the electronic parking brake. It's been at Chrysler dealership for over a week and is now a STARS case according to my service rep. .
I’m having trouble with my start stop. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes my motor goes into limp mode for no reason.
While driving down the road and slowing down the van put itself into park and shut off. Had to then restart the van.
The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds on several occasions, there was a clicking noise emanating from the engine compartment and the vehicle began shaking. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, and the contact was informed that the control arm and bushings needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer who was unable to replicate the failure on one occasion; however, on another occasion, the vehicle was taken to the same dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the alternator needed to be replaced. The failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer where it was determined that the sway bar link needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

The transmission shifts/jerks hard and hesitates/struggles to accelerate at times. It has even shutdown numerous times while I was at a traffic light.
The 2019 Chrysler Pacifica limited with 3.6l Pentastar engine had a check engine light come around 90,000 miles. The vehicle would suddenly lose acceleration power without warning, especially while getting onto the freeway. It was found that there is a known issue with the 3.2 and 3.6l Pentastar engines where the camshafts begin throwing metal shavings into the cylinders. The issue first presented itself as a cylinder 6 misfire with error code P0306. After replacing the spark plugs, coils, and VVT solenoids, the problem continued until the metal shavings were discovered. The design flaw of the engine causing the camshaft to produce metal shavings into the cylinders that lead to the sudden loss of acceleration is a major safety concern.
Van has 55,000 miles on it. Not overheating but noticed coolant reservoir keeps needing to be topped off daily. Also, just received check engine light code for cylinder 5. Shop diagnosed as head gaskets and now need an engine replacement. Absolutely unacceptable for a vehicle with such low miles.
Head gasket failure at 68500 miles. It causes a misfire in the engine and could cause an accident from the car bucking once it consumes the engine coolant and also causes overheating and a lot of smoke to come out of the tailpipe making it less visible for others on the road to see, if behind a car like mine
The check engine light came on. The day it came on, when starting the vehicle, it started shaking while in idle and when initially driving. The same day I had the engine read and a cylinder 6 misfire came up on the report. When I began driving, the car was shaking and it felt like it could stop abruptly which could have caused an accident. Yes, it was inspected and it was diagnosed that the head gasket is blown. Yes, the check engine light came on. It should be noted that when my local mechanic diagnosed the problem, two other Chrysler Pacifica's and two other vehicles with the v6 engine have the same issue.
The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving 75 MPH, the vehicle stalled, with the START/STOP light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle shut off independently. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

I am the mechanic that was hard to work on this vehicle and I am feeling this out for the customer but I am submitting it in my name . Vehicle has code p105c and p0303. The first code is pending permanent and stored, it is saying the intake valve is stuck in a low lift position. The second code is for cylinder 3 misfire. We had the coils switched over from cylinder 3 to cylinder 5 and made sure that the wiring was not damaged and the same code keeps coming back for that cylinder as well as the p105c. It causes the vehicle to start shaking while going down the road almost causing an accident. There is a recall on the 2020 Pacifica having the same code but there isn't a recall on the 2019 which has the same engine.
The coolant keeps disappearing from the resevoir tank and there is a gurgling noise coming from the front driver side. The engine starts rough with the check engine light on.
Around 79,000 miles, my 2019 Pacifica experienced check engine error codes. Upon diagnostics by a repair shop, found that the engine coolant was leaking into the engine due to a bad head gasket and that the engine cylinders were damaged and the only repair is a full engine replacement. The car has been maintained and received regular oil changes and should not fail in this manner at less than 80,000 miles. Reading through various forums I see this is a known issue with the 2017+ model year Pacificas
My 2019 Pacifica Hybrid started showing a message around 07/19 “Service Charing Station” followed by Service Park brakes, Service Parking system and was not able to start or control anything in the car. After 15 to 30 minutes it started working and no errors. On Friday, 07/26, car stopped all of a sudden (luckily my family was in the parking lot) and showed a different message “Stop Safely. Vehicle will stop soon” message and after that it went completely dead. This is a concern that the vehicle would stop when driving and making the vehicle not responding to anything. You cannot control (brakes, driving modes, light) anything and when AAA jump started the car was in “Running” mode and asking to power on the vehicle.
I have a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica that has had several issues since I purchased it. The Start Stop System warning lamp comes on and off, and my check engine light is on. The van is barely driveable, it shudders, stalls, and is a major safety concern for my family. I use this van to transport my 3 young children around, and I never know when it is going to stall. It has completely lost power on the highway, resulting in a near catastrophic accident. I have reached out to Chrysler directly, as well as the dealer. There is indeed many recalls on this year and model car, but I am told my VIN number is not included. Chrysler, and the dealership, Imperial Chrysler in Mendon Ma, refuse to address the issue because my VIN is not included, but yet my car is experiencing the same exact symptoms and issues that have already been recalled. Chrysler has announced a recall on approximately 198,000 model-year 2017-19 Pacifica minivans equipped with stop-start due to battery issues. A loose battery ground connection may result in an intermittent loss of power steering assist or a stall, increasing the risk of a crash. When I reached out directly to Chrysler, I was directed to a call center where the woman was extremely rude and short with me. She continuously repeated that my VIN is not affected and would not offer any further assistance. In the mean while, this car is unsafe.
While @ highway speed this vehicle lost ipower steering, power braking and the engine stalled out…this latest event prompted my complaint and was the third time I have experienced this situation. In all three incidents I was simply able to coast to the side of the road and stop. Thankfully after a few attempts to restart the vehicle started and ran. It was very frightening given it lost total power on all three occasions without notice or warning it like it just turns itself off. I contacted RollX vans the folks from whom we purchased this handicap transport vehicle and they informed me of a safety recall V53 for 2017-2019 Pacificas. The recall details the exact symptoms of what I experienced. I took the recall information and the vehicle to a local dealership Larry H Miller Chrysler, Tucson AZ and they mostly dismissed my account and said there is NO recall on my VIN despite the V53 recall. They said the tech couldn’t get it to duplicate and situation. They said they checked the grounds and it’s all OK. I am not convinced considering the timeline of their alleged repair and the answers I rec’d from the service writer when I asked specifics about the repair. I suspect they simply test drove it when it did not duplicate the situation they said it’s OK.
Engine was running low on coolant due to malfunction of heads Computer did not warn me or temperature senser gage showed normal Engine needs replaced now
Engine failure; engine light P0306 error, cylinder 6 head gasket blown. Mileage 62k, Year 2019. Yes, vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle was a danger to my family and others, as it unexpectedly overheated on the freeway, and there were no known engine problems to that point. I drive a minivan for my family (2 parents and 3 children), and I am also a carpool parent for two other children, and regularly drive children to and from school, twice a day. An engine failure with no warning is a massive danger and a huge compromise to safety to the families involved and those on the road around us as it occurred unexpectedly on a freeway, at freeway speeds. Upon inspection by a mechanic, it was discovered that the vehicle had no coolant, the coolant had been leaking into the engine, causing mis-firing of cylinder 6, and the car overheated due to low coolant levels; the cylinder head gasket and exhaust manifold gasket was replaced. Additional engine components in poor condition and also replaced: all spark plugs, coolant housing, timing chain tensioner A and B, front crank shaft seal, timing cover gasket, oil filter housing, and rear engine mount. Additionally the cylinder head needed to be resurfaced. The vehicle/component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance reps. The vehicle and faulty components have been inspected by a mechanic. Leading up to the engine failure, there were no warnings of low coolant, as there is no coolant sensor; the engine light only turned on the day of engine failure; and a few days before engine failure, the only symptom observed was slightly stronger idling than normal, almost imperceptible.
Have replace both batteries every year since purchased, the engine start stop acts up alot of the time when you pull up to a red light the engine will turn off and then turn on automatically (shuts the electrical system completely down then it will come back on) the batteries like over heat and swell up will this cause a fire
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the ongoing issues plaguing my car. This dissatisfaction is compounded by the fact that this car was brand new when I picked it up from the dealership, with no miles on it. Since then, I have encountered a series of concerning problems. At around 30,000 miles, the batteries required replacement, followed shortly by a transmission replacement at 40,000 miles. Additionally, the TV screens throughout the car began shutting off autonomously, a persistent issue that remains unresolved. Subsequently, at 60,000 miles, both the engine and batteries needed replacement once again. Despite repeated efforts to address these issues under warranty, the car continues to experience persistent troubles. It often stalls every two days, and despite addressing these issues under warranty, the TV malfunctions persist. Furthermore, the situation has escalated with the engine now overheating and malfunctions occurring in critical safety features such as airbags, lights, and ACC. These concerns have created a myriad of safety issues within the vehicle, particularly during driving, with multiple safety concerns arising regarding the navigation and various electronic components. It is evident that these safety hazards are all mechanically related and have persisted since the car reached 30,000 miles. Additionally, amidst these significant safety concerns, one of the main safety components of the vehicle is compromised. Intermediately and on a consistent basis, the car doors open on their own, posing a serious risk. There have been instances where my son has inadvertently pressed the door to open from the outside, and the doors open without any form of key input. The key is not present, yet the door opens on its own, triggering the alarm. This ongoing issue has left me emotionally and monetarily drained over the past few years.
On two different occasions and in two different places my vehicle stalled.Once on a highway in a traffic jam and once coming off a highway exit on my way home. In both cases the vehicle simply lost power. It is a 2019 Pacifica Touring L. I looked it up and saw similar complaints concerning the hybrid model but none for a non-hybrid. The vehicle is available for inspection. It is an extreme safety issue as both happened on or just leaving a major highway with lots of traffic. I am taking it into the local dealer hopefully tomorrow. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone as of this date. No warning lights or messages flashed prior to the events. The vehicle has been serviced by the local Chrysler dealer up until the last oil change at 48,000 miles. On each occasion I instinctively stabbed the "start" button and it fired right up. Dates were 12/01 and 12/09.
Leaked coolant into cylinder 6 at 47,090 miles. Head gasket replaced under warranty by dealer on 4/26/22. Currently experiencing cylinder 6 misfire, rough idling and using 16 oz coolant per month at 66,683 miles. Dealer recommended new head gasket and new head on 10/20/23.
Car was stopped at a red light and shifted on its own into park
Van was idling rough and started to struggle to start in the morning, at times needing to try a few times before it would start up. Once driving the van is still idling roughly and at red lights feels as if it will not be able to drive at all. The check engine light came on so we had the error code read at AutoZone throwing the P0303 Cylinder 1 misfire. We first took it to our local mechanic where he was unable to fully diagnose the issue, he recommended we then take it to the dealership. Our van is currently at the dealership with coolant leaking into the head gasket. We have opened a case with the dealership and are independently pursuing them taking responsibility for the faulty parts. The car did not 'drive hot' at all and not temperature gauge change occurred at all. I cannot safely drive or count on this van to drive my four kids around at this time. This is a design/manufacturing flaw as I have recently found out that it is occurring in Chrysler Pacifica's at a high rate around 60k miles. We are at 63k in a 2019 and are now told we must pay 4,500k to replace the head gasket that the coolant has leaked into. This issue is common with this model and there is no guarantee that this will prevent the same issue with another cylinder or force us to buy a new engine on a 4 year old car.

The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, or while the vehicle was idling, the Auto START/STOP system light intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to Auto Zone to be diagnosed. The mechanic retrieved DTC codes: P0205 and P0305. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was previously taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the main wiring harness, ignition coil, and other unknown parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 121,419.
Mileage: 121,419
The van completely turns off, engine stops running, when stopped at traffic lights. The van then has to be completely restarted. There is also a consistent issue with the start/stop feature. A warning appears and the start/stop feature is disabled. This error typically occurs after the engine turns off when at a traffic signal.
I was getting my oil changed and the guy told me that my engine was no longer bolted down, that it can move all around. I called Chrysler and they told me that they would charge me to diagnose the problem and that it would not be covered under warranty. I took it to another shop and they said that it was not bolted down, because the bolts that Chrysler used were bad. It is so frustrating that my engine could slide around causing all sorts of issues and Chrysler does not care at all. How is that not covered?
Vehicle has continually shifted roughly, but beginning last year it stalled while coming to a stop. We replaced the battery and removed the auxillary battery that controls the automatic start/stop and had no issues for almost a year. Approximately a week ago, the vehicle began to stall again when coming to a stop, and giving a message stating to "service shifter." It has happened multiple times since. There was a lawsuit for this model regarding the crankshaft position sensor, but we are only reimbursed if we have paid for repairs. Can you help?
My wife got in the vehicle after shopping and tried to start the vehicle. She said all displays were dark or blank and no instrument cluster lights, no indication on the touch screen. She said she tried several times to start the vehicle and same thing happened. She stated that after waiting a considerable time she tried calling me about the problem but I didn’t answer. She then tried one more time to start the vehicle and this time everything came up normally. When she got home I checked the vehicle for malfunctions and found none. Thus far the problem has not recurred. This happened about 2 weeks ago, around the 8th or 9th of June 2023. I decided to fill this out because if she had been traveling on the Interstate Highway at high speed this could have ended very badly.
For the second time on three months (now four times in one year) the start/stop feature says it’s not working. Both batteries have been replaced. The vehicle will simply shut off while driving.
2019 Chrysler Pacifica Limited 4/15/23- Uconnect radio failed to do over the air update. Since that failure the electrical system in the car has now caused the car to be non functional and intermittent. All the safety features stopped and warning lights came on stating service transmission so the car was brought to Chrysler dealership. Dealership has replicated the problem and now had the car now for over a month and replaced parts, some at my cost with no fix. The problem still occurs for them as well. I have asked multiple times if the radio could have caused this and each time I am told no.
BLOWN CYLINDER HEAD GASKET ON THE RIGHT SIDE.
Ever since we purchased this vehicle it has had problems shifting when accelerating it jerks the whole car, and you hear a loud thud. Once in awhile it feels like the car has no power when trying to accelerate. We have had nothing but issues with the Start/Stop control system. We have taken it back to the dealership multiple times. They have replaced the alternate battery two times in the past year and now it is doing it again and will need to be replaced. The dealership just says it is the battery, and a software download. The problem has not been corrected yet. Most recently while on a busy state highway the car decided to throw all error codes, and completely shut down.
My local Chrysler dealership suggested (and charged me for) computer updates relating to the sliding doors and transmission of a 2019 Pacifica minivan. Without these updates, the service advisor said the sliding doors may not open/close and that the engine may rev but power may not be delivered to the drivetrain. Doors can be opened manually. I am not all that concerned about that one. But if the engine revs but does not deliver power to the wheels, the results can be catastrophic, especially while pulling out in traffic at highway speeds. These issues require a recall with costs covered by the manufacturer not the consumer. I was charged $165.00 for this repair.
Light come on dash board to park safely car will shut down. Car stalls all lights on dashboard will come on, alcar shuts down and nothing work not even the hassard light it goes complete dead. After 20 mintutes r more been shut down it will turn on like nothing happen, no lights on dashboard happen 5 times on ah year and cant find the problem at the dealer. Thanks you
Please read! This is the 10th occurrence of this issue, and second time posting here as a safety issue. I hope no one else experiences this. The issue still cant be diagnosed, so trying for another time. Last time they had the Pacifica for over 7 weeks! As per previous complaint on Jan 6, 2023 with our 2 year old twin toddlers with us in the vehicle again, the vehicle is still having the same safety issue. I dont feel safe any longer driving my Pacifica. I called the customer care line and was told nothing can be done without a diagnosis. It will be dropped off, but no appt avail for a month. You cant replicate this. No one should have to experience it. **We were driving on the freeway at 55 mph. After 30 min on the freeway at 55-60 mph, the Pacifica all of a sudden states car is not in park, (as it did the previous 9 times) The van will not accelerate, because of the warning saying car is not in park, and Hazard lights wouldn't activate. The car behind me was honking, almost hit me and the car behind them and so on. The Pacifica continued to just glide on the road in the drive position with the same warning over and over car is not in park. We slowed down enough we pressed the brake and put it in park, STILL IN THE LANE ON THE BUSY FREEWAY! With brake depressed, We tried to get the alert to shut off by having the van in park so we can restart it. But the van wont restart as it still says car is not in park, but yet it really is in park. as an FYI, The auto start stop was shut off at start up. We Got the car shut completely off (while still in the lane on the freeway with cars honking away.) and were finally able to get the van to restart, the alerts to go away and off to the side of the freeway and to the exit. Can you imagine how terrifying this is!!! YOU CANT PREDICT WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN! Either you choose drive it and take the risk of your safety or pay for rental to ensure you are safe !! When it is a safety problem, it should be taken more seriously!
The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while at a stop light, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled with the START/STOP warning light illuminated. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who could not find any default codes with the vehicle. The vehicle resumed normal operation; however, after approximately 3-weeks, the vehicle failed to start up after several attempts. The dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
Hello we had a complete shut down at 5 pm Friday at an intersection this past weekend. While at the light, the car just 'shut off'. The van did start back up with in 2 minutes. There are no engine, battery, etc. warning lights currently displayed. This has happened twice with in the past 6 month. Main battery and auxiliary are both new. All connections are torqued to spec. Very dangerous situation.
Car has shut off, on the road, while driving twice now. Car revs up while driving but loses power and slows down. Dashboard blinks "stop safely, car will shut off soon, service electronic stability control, service trans, shut off engine to engage in park, park assist unavailable" engine is already off because it shut down automatically but car itself would not shut off. Had to disconnect the battery to reset it, got it started and only drove 3 miles to a parking lot and it continously lost driving power those 3 miles. Car revs up really high, but will not drive. Huge safety concern and Chrysler is aware but doesnt care. Car has been "fixed" twice now and still has continued to shut down while driving. It's been at the dealership since October 10th.
While driving down the road, my vehicle stated that it was not in park out of no where, and i was driving 35 -40 miles per hour. No doors were open, it was me and my twin boys age 2 in car seats. It then decided to stop in the road. The vehicle shut off. I turned on my hazards and had to try to restart my vehicle. Almost getting in an accident. Got it restarted and pulled it over. I was terrified. This was the second time this has happened except the first time was a month prior and i was driving up to a red light, depressed the brake (start stop was deactivated prior by me) and once i stopped the car just shut off and didnt want to restart, car was placed in park. After about a minute i got it to restart, again i pulled over. The radio will turn off and restart every 3 minutes, with nothing connected. It is like this car has all of a sudden become possesed. I have replaced both the battery and aux battery.
Car shut off while driving
Which component or system failed or malfunctioned and can it be inspected upon request? How has your safety or that of others been threatened? I think there is a problem with the circuit part or the engine control device. The vehicle automatically shuts off at low speed or in a parked state, and cannot be restarted for a long time. The engine suddenly turned off and could not be started while driving, posing a threat to the safety of my life and that of others. The transmission controller is completely inoperative, with no display or function. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? unknown Has the vehicle or parts been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? unknown Were there any warning lights, messages or other symptoms of the problem before the failure and when did they first appear? No warning lights, messages or other symptoms, first appeared in October 2022, because I bought a used car, so I don't know if this happened before, but it has happened about 8 times since I bought the car in October of 2022 .
STOP/START FUNCTION IS A HAZARD. WE HAVE ALREADY HAD IT REPAIRED ONCE AT A DEALERSHIP WHERE WE NEEDED 2 NEW BATTERIES. 2 WEEKS LATER, IT STARTED DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN - SPUTTERING WHILE DRIVING, AUTO STOP START NOT AVAILABLE. HAD TO JUMP START. IT TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING SOMETIMES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.
The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would independently lurch forward and shake without warning. The contact linked the failure to an unknown recall however, the VIN tool showed no open recalls. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000.

While traveling on freeway loss of power and gas pedal not responding. Transmission bucks and shifts hard.
I read that there is on ongoing investigation related to the 2019-2021 Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid (Investigation# PE-22-008). I read the ODI Resume, and would like to report the exact same issue with my Pacifica. I was traveling at about 40 MPH on a four lane highway in February of 2022 when I suddenly lost all motive power. The dashboard reported a charging system error. I was able to get the car to the side of the road (though I was lucky to be able to do so) and it had to be towed to the Chrysler dealership (Deery Brothers Chrysler, 651 Hwy 1 W, Iowa City, IA 52246, 319-600-6890). They replaced a part in the charging system and it briefly ran, and then failed (thus the dealer has also reproduced the problem). It has now been at the dealership since then waiting for Chrysler to figure out the problem. Apparently Chrysler has sent an engineer to Deery as well, so there may be some confirmation from the manufacturer.
The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle, the brakes, ESC, Lane Keep Assist, air bags, and seat belt warning lights illuminated. Additionally, the "Rear Parking Assist Not Available" message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who tightened the battery terminal; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who replaced the ORC module, the transmission control module, the body control module, the ABS module, and the wiring front end module; however, the check engine warning light illuminated while the dealer was taking the vehicle back to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced low voltage failure. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer - Hendrick Chrysler Jeep FIAT (543 N McPherson Church Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28303) who recharged the battery; however, the failure reoccurred. Additionally, the contact stated that the turn signals failed to work. The vehicle was taken to a third dealer - Crown Dodge of Fayetteville (436 N McPherson Church Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28303) who updated an unknown software; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed with the Adaptive Cruise Control activated, the vehicle decelerated significantly and abruptly. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact's husband depressed the accelerator pedal however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact's husband then depressed the brake pedal and veered to the side of the road, where the vehicle stalled and failed to restart. The contact stated that the vehicle restarted after several attempts: however, the vehicle continuously stalled while driving back to residence. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 31,800.

I have taken item to shop twice. The auto stop/start stops working and causes vehicle to stall. Dodge dealership says it is a loose battery wire and just reconnects it. The feature stops working and has a cautionary light. The vehicle runs poorly during this time and seems like transmission out of gear.
The vehicle would not start. Would not remote start. Literally didn't do anything when trying to start it. Did this before and I had it to the dealer. They replaced the extra battery. Now it's doing the same thing again.
COUNTLESS EPISODES WHEN ON SLIPPERY CONDITIONS AND USING REGENERATIVE BRAKING, USUALLY GOING DOWN A HILL TRYING TO MAINTAIN SPEED WITH STEADY MODERATE BREAK PEDAL PRESSURE. WHEN I ENCOUNTER THESE SLIPPERY CONDITIONS THE REGENERATIVE BRAKES RAPIDLY DECREASE THEIR FORCE (OR ENTIRELY LOOSE BRAKING) FOR ABOUT 1 SECOND. IF I AM ON A LONGER STRETCH OF SLIPPERY CONDITIONS (PACKED SNOW, ICE) THEN THIS REPEATS AT ABOUT 1 SECOND INTERVALS. THIS HAS OCCURRED AT SPEEDS RANGING FROM 10-35 MPH. IF I PRESS HARDER THE ABS KICKS IN, BECAUSE THE OCCURS ON STEEP HILLS, INSTEAD OF MAINTAINING SPEED OR SLOWING DOWN, THE EFFECT OF GRAVITY LEADS TO AN ACCELERATION.

THE VEHICLE STALLS OUT WHILE ACTIVELY DRIVING IT DOWN THE ROAD ON A CITY STREET. THE VEHICLE STOPS MID DRIVING, IMMEDIATELY SHUTS OFF, LOSES ALL POWER, AND ENGAGES PARK BY ITSELF. THE VEHICLE THEN FAILS TO RESTART AND LEAVES DRIVER STRANDED IN UNSAFE CONDITIONS. HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME DRIVING 40MPH DOWN A CITY ROAD. DRIVER WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED. AFTER 20 MINS DRIVER WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED AGAIN ONLY TO HAVE IT HAPPEN HALF A MILE DOWN THE ROAD. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED BY CHRYSLER TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THEY FOUND NO STORED ERRORS AND SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. THEY INSTALLED A FLIGHT RECORDER IN THE VEHICLE AND WE PICKED IT UP YESTERDAY. 10 MILES AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP WHILE DRIVING ON ANOTHER CITY ROAD THE VEHICLE AGAIN SHUT ITSELF OFF WHILE DRIVING, HAD A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER, AND LOCKED ITSELF INTO PARK MODE AND WOULDN'T RESTART. THIS TIME HAD MY ENTIRE FAMILY AND TWO YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE CAR TRAPPED IN THE MIDDLE ON A BUSY INTERSECTION. VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED AGAIN TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIM THE FLIGHT RECORDER DIDN'T PICK UP ANYTHING. A CLAIM HAS BEEN OPENED UP WITH FCA HEADQUARTERS AND AGAIN NO ONE IS ASSISTING IN THIS ISSUE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.

AS I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND APPLIED THE BRAKES THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED AND COMPLETELY SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND SHUT DOWN. UNABLE TO START THE CAR AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS IT FINALLY STARTED AGAIN, WENT A FEW MORE FEET AND THEN COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AND THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF AGAIN, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR BEGAN TO SMOKE FROM THE FRONT AND THERE WAS A STRONG SMELL OF GAS. A PEDESTRIAN CAME OVER AND TOLD ME NOT TO ATTEMPT TO START THE CAR AGAIN BECAUSE THERE WAS GASOLINE LEAKING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR. I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME AT THE TIME AND SO WE ALL HAD TO HOP OUT IN A PANIC AND I WENT INSIDE A NEARBY COFFEE SHOP TO CALL THE POLICE, INSURANCE CO AND A TOWING SERVICE. AS I MENTIONED THE CAR WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, WHICH WAS A DANGER TO DRIVERS PASSING BY AND TO MYSELF, ALL I COULD SEE WAS GASOLINE POURING OUT OF THE CAR. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP SERVICE, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE CLAMP FROM THE FUEL LINE SOMEHOW CAME OFF AND THIS WAS "A ONE IN A MILLION CHANCE OF HAPPENING TO ANYONE". THEY OFFERED ME NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THIS OCCURRED AND OFFERED ME NOTHING TO EASE MY WORRY OF THIS HAPPENING AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT WE PURCHASED THIS AS A NEW VEHICLE AND IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. NONETHELESS A CONCERNING ISSUE AS THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE OR EXPLOSION WITH ME AND MY 3 CHILDREN IN THE VAN. THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS, PLEASE SEE ATTACHMENTS FO THE DOCUMENTATION FROM THE DEALERSHIP.

THIS VAN WAS PURCHASED BY A DEALER WITH APPROXIMATELY 23,000 MILES. IT WAS SOLD TO A RETAIL CUSTOMER AND THE FOLLOWING DAY IT CAUGHT ON FIRE IN THE CUSTOMERS GARAGE. WE HAD IT TOWED TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER SAID THEY WOULD NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR FIRE, EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS CLEARLY UNDER BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. AFTER LEAVING IT THERE WHILE TRYING TO GET CHRYSLER TO FIX IT WE FINALLY SENT A TOW TRUCK TO PICK IT UP. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER GOT IN THE VEHICLE TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND IT CAUGHT ON FIRE AGAIN. THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE IS BURNER/MELTED AND CHRYSLER REFUSES TO LOOK AT IT OR REPAIR IT UNDER WARRANTY.

MY VEHICLE STALLS AND ROLLED BACK THREE TIMES SINCE PURCHASING IT NEAR THE END OF AUGUST. I KNOW THE ENGINE IS IN IDLE MODE DURING A STOP OR STOPLIGHT TO SAVE ON EMISSIONS, BUT THE TRANSITION FROM IDLE TO RESTART WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL IS NOT SEAMLESS. IN FACT, IT IS LOUD AND HAS ROLLED BACK A FOOT WHEN ON CHANGING FROM BRAKES TO GAS PEDAL.
CAR IS NOT ACCELERATING PROPERLY, HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING WHEN DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS, JERKING AND SPITTING FROM THE CAR. VIBRATION WHEN IT IS IDLING AT A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT.

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME AND THE CAR WAS SHUDDERING AND INTERMITTENTLY ACCELERATING. SHE GOT BACK TO THE HOUSE AND SMELT A BURNT RUBBER SMELL. WHEN IN MY DRIVEWAY THE VEHICLE HAD A HARD TIME TURNING OVER AND THE ENGINE WOULD KNOCK AND SHUT OFF WHILE STILL IN PARK. IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER EVALUATION
Mileage: 3,300
FIRST DAY WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND THE HYBRID BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. TWO WEEKS LATER THE VEHICLE KEPT STALLING, AND EVENTUALLY CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. FOUR WEEKS OF PURCHASE, OUR CAR BEGANS STALLING AGAIN AND OUR ENGINE LIGHT IS BACK ON. TECH SAYS "THE CAR FIXED ITSELF". THE ENGINE LIGHT IS BACK ON AGAIN.

I HAVE BEEN DRIVING A NEW PACIFICA FOR OVER A WEEK NOW AND I KNOW THE ELECTRONIC START/STOP SYSTEM IS JUNK OVERALL. ON A FEW OCCASIONS, IT SEEMS THE ENGINE RE-ENGAGES WITH A SHUDDER AND HAS DELAYED US FROM GETTING ONTO A ROAD WHICH IS A SAFETY PROBLEM WITH TRAFFIC BEHIND ME OR GETTING INTO TRAFFIC FLOW. THIS FEATURE SHOULD HAVE AN ABILITY TO BE PERMANENTLY DISABLED BY THE OWNER IF UNWANTED INSTEAD OF HAVING TO PRESS A BUTTON EACH TIME THE CAR STARTS. WE PRESS THE BUTTON EVERY TIME, BUT THE FACT WE HAVE TO PRESS THIS EVERY TIME WE START THE PACIFICA IS IRRITATING. HONESTLY, THE ESS SYSTEM SEEMS TO BE FAULTY IN IMPLEMENTATION.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE AT AN INTERSECTION, THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AGAIN, THE VEHICLE RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VICTOR CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (6560 ANTHONY DR, VICTOR, NY 14564, (585) 381-5337) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT A FAILURE WAS NOT LOCATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,200..*BF CONSUMER STATED THERE IS A CORRECTION - WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE INTO TRAFFIC THE ACCELERATOR DID NOT RESPOND THEN ALL OF SUDDEN SURGED FORWARD. THIS HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES.*JB

COULD NOT START CHRYSLER PACIFICA FOR ONE HOUR FRIDAY MORNING. FINALLY STARTING, THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WHILE MOVING AT LOW SPEED APPROACHING A LIGHT (AT TIME THOUGHT IT WAS THE GAS SAVING FEATURE) AND WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO START. DROVE IT TO DEALER MONDAY, AFTER A VERY DIFFICULT START FOR A FIX YESTERDAY. DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM SO I DROVE HOME, PARKED, AND TODAY IT WOULD NOT START. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED BACK TO DEALER. CONCERNED ENGINE COULD SHUT DOWN AT SPEED LOCKING CONTROLS. AS CAUSE IS UNKNOWN, I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR CHRYSLER AND A HEADS-UP TO THE NHTSA. THE PROBLEM BEGAN WITH ABOUT 150 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND THE VAN NOW HAS ABOUT 475 MILES. *DT UPDATED 11/30/18*JB
