All Engine Complaints (62)
While driving 75MPH, the vehicle shut down with a message to pull over. All acceleration was lost. We had to navigate, without warning, across 3 lanes of traffic to pull over on the right side of the highway. This was EXTREMELY unsafe as we were slowing down and essentially cutting off other vehicles who were honking at us as this was a traffic hazard. All 6 members of my family were in the vehicle. We had this happen another 3 times before arriving home. I took it to my local dealer, who could not replicate it. They performed a software update, which I have since learned would NEVER fix this problem. We had it happen to us 5 more times, so I took it to another dealership, who initially could not replicate it. In all cases, we had the following check engine light codes be triggered. I have screen shots of them from my personal OBDII reader: P0A43 "Drive Motor 'A' Position Sensor Circuit Intermittent", C2225 "Status: MIL - PCM Disabled EDU: No Sub Type Information". After doing my own reading, it seemed many others have experienced the exact same symptoms and it has required a transmission repair/replace. I also learned most people had a battery charge on the high voltage battery (as this is a plug-in hybrid) when the vehicle shuts down. I charged my van, took it for a ride at 75MPH and it occurred within the first mile. I took it back to the dealership, and at this point, I refuse to drive it until the hardware fix happens. It seems like this should be a recall for all vehicles that can have this problem. It is EXTREMELY unsafe as it occurs at 70MPH+ speeds.
The vehicle was running fine when it suddenly shut down while driving. It was started back up 3 times before it would not start again.it was towed. We were told the two batteries needed to be replaced so we had it towed to midas because they had recently changed the auxiliary battery so it was under warranty. They replaced they replaced thr batteries but when they went to started up, thr engine started knocking and wouldn't start up again. Tr engine needs to be replaced.
Oil filter gets stripped on oil cooler housing and cracks and leaks damaging engine.
The vehicle’s electrical or engine system appears to have failed, causing a sudden loss of power while driving. The exact component has not been identified by the dealership or Chrysler, but it may be related to the recall affecting the vehicle’s powertrain control or electrical system. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and available for inspection upon request. The issue has created a serious safety risk. The vehicle has repeatedly lost power and shut off while driving on the highway, including one incident where I was unable to fully pull off the road before it stalled in active traffic. My children were in the vehicle at the time, placing us in immediate danger of being struck by oncoming vehicles. Because the vehicle can stop without warning, it is unsafe to drive and puts both my family and others on the road at risk. The dealership has confirmed the issue and advised that parts are on backorder for at least 10 weeks. They also stated that even once the parts arrive, they are uncertain how to complete the repair, indicating that Chrysler has not yet provided an effective fix. The vehicle has been inspected by the authorized Chrysler dealership multiple times, and the issue has been reported to Chrysler. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. A warning message reading “Pull over as the vehicle will stop” appears on the dashboard prior to each failure event. The first occurrence was on June 10, 2025, while driving on the highway to my daughter’s graduation. Since then, the same warning has appeared multiple times before the vehicle shuts off completely. It has been 6 weeks at this point and I have no vehicle. Chrysler has offered rental reimbursement of $60 a day but there is no vehicle that is a 7 passenger like my van that is of this cost. At this time they do not have a timeframe of when the vehicle will be fixed and denied a buyback or replacement.
Number of days your vehicle is down: indefinitely as of now there is no fix according to the dealership parts are at least 10 weeks out with them not knowing how to do the install once parts arrive Number of Repair Attempts: there is no fix as of now but the vehicle has broken down 4 times parts for the transmission are on back order (at least ten weeks) and they do not know how to install the parts once they arrive First Repair Attempt Date and Problem: June 10, 2025 The van showed a message saying pull over as the vehicle will stop while we were on the highway heading to my daughters graduation. Initially. We were able to pull over that time and stop driving before the car turned off. we took the vehicle in and they inspected it for the recall. Most recently, the vehicle did it again on the highway. I was not being able to pull all the way over prior to the vehicle, losing power and stopping in the middle of the highway with my children inside. Voice of the Customer / Complaint: as of now there is no timetable for us to be able to return driving the vehicle which is extremely unsafe. We purposely got a seven passenger van to transport our entire family, and at this point we have no way to do. So. The dealership says they are unable to give us a loaner for that, and we are getting no assistance with this with no timetable. As far as when the vehicle will be fixed. Therefore, I’m requesting a buyback of the vehicle so that we can get something to transport our family as the vehicle is down. I am still having to pay for the car note without having anything to Show for it. I cannot drive it as I don’t know when it will shut off. It is currently sitting at the dealer.
When driving on local road or freeways, car stops in middle of running state with check engine light ON and with a message displayed on cluster as ‘ Stop Safely, vehicle will shut off soon’
The contact owns a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who transferred the vehicle to an unknown local Chrysler dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
Mileage: 40,000
My 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid periodically has a sudden shutdown warning identical to vehicles in recall 23V-010 (157), where the engine simply shuts down and a message shows to park safely (it happened to me a bunch of times on a highway and I was lucky enough to have room on the road shoulder. My VIN isn’t listed in the recall 157 that seems to take care of this issue, but the symptoms match exactly. I need this investigated for safety and repaired under warranty or recall.
The car shut down and a turtle appeared on the screen on the middle of the highway.
My wife was driving our 2022 Chrylser Pacifica when it died in the middle of an intersection in downtown Austin. She was in the turning lane waiting for the light to change when the auto stop/start feature activated. As the light turned green and she went to proceed, the car started up and then cut back off while simultaneously placing itself in park and all of the lights on the dash began blinking and messages stating "service shifter", "service parking brake", "service brakes" etc started popping up on the dash. She tried to restart the car and nothing happened and the emergency flashers would only work intermittently before shutting off and randomly coming back on for a few seconds minutes later. Eventually a police officer pulled up behind her to block traffic while she and they tried to get the car started. When I arrived, I was able to jump the car and get it out of the road and to a nearby parts store to check the batteries. Oreillys and Advanced Auto confirmed that the alternator, batteries and starter were good based on their diagnostic scanners. She was able to drive it to San Antonio and back the next day with no issues, but that night, when we went to dinner and stopped for gas, it did it again while in the fuel line although I was able to restart the car this time but now displays "Stop/Start Unavailable, Service Stop/Start". After the second event, went back to Oreillys and had it scanned, there were no primary diagnostic trouble codes, but 8 stored additional ABS trouble codes relating to low voltage, and electronic failures across multiple systems. This all came after having the oil changed and a safety inspection performed on 23 July in which everything passed, but they recommended a coolant and brake fluid flush. Concerned about this happening in congestion on a highway or somewhere with limited options for recovery.
Unexpected engine shut down electrical system, short circuit and the internal transmission failure loss of motor power while driving, losing control of all drive power breaking on its own increasing the risk of crash. Electrical system went haywire.
While traveling at highway speeds, vehicle enters into "limp" mode with an in-dash warning "Stop Safely. Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" warning and a red turtle warning symbol above the drive indicator. The vehicle immediately stops sending power to the wheels and it must be safely pulled over to the side. This was brought into the dealership for service and the car was returned as "repaired." But this has not been fixed. After the initial occurrence, this has re-occurred multiple times, most recently on 06/19/2025 and 06/21/2025.
While I was driving this vehicle on the highway, the vehicle shut off and the engine light came on
In 2024, our vehicle displayed a critical warning stating: “Stop safely. Vehicle will shut off soon.” While driving on the highway, the vehicle began losing engine power—a terrifying and dangerous experience. We immediately took it to the dealership, where they diagnosed a transmission failure and proceeded to replace the transmission. Unfortunately, we are now experiencing the same issue again this year. The vehicle continues to lose power and shut off while in motion on the highway, creating an extremely hazardous situation that nearly resulted in a serious accident. This ongoing malfunction poses a significant risk to the safety of drivers and passengers. Chrysler must take immediate responsibility by recalling these vehicles and replacing them with safer alternatives to prevent further danger to human life.
I bought a 2022 Pacifica Hybrid in October 2022. About 2 months ago(Feb 2025), while I was driving on the [XXX] highways, my car suddenly showed "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and a turtle symbol. At this time, I was driving 70 MPH and the car started to slowly stop. Then, I tried to drive into a nearby Starbucks to check it out. I turned off the car. Everything was OK such as oil, coolant, a/c, windshield. Then I restarted the car and the "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and the turtle symbol were gone. I thought it was okay, so I continued driving. 5 days ago (XXX), I had a trip to San Antonio. When I was driving close to Austin. My car showed "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and the turtle symbol again. At this time, I stopped on [XXX]. I feel very dangerous for me, my wife and my 2 children. I feel very scared and confused when I am driving on [XXX] and the car stops like that. I feel like our lives are in danger while driving. Then "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and the turtle symbol appear more frequently. My car has appeared "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and the turtle symbol 6 times in 3 days. Yesterday was [XXX]. When I parked in my driveway, "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and the turtle symbol also appeared. Every day, I must take my 2 children to school in my 2022 Pacifica Hybrid. Now, I feel very scared when driving. I do not know when "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and the turtle symbol will appear again and will cause an accident for my family. We sincerely hope that you will consider and request Chrysler to help us check and fix this as soon as possible. Thank you very much. Subject: Urgent Safety Concern – Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid (VIN: [XXX] ) Dear NHTSA, I am writing to report a serious safety issue with my 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid (VIN: [XXX] ). The vehicle experiences sudden power loss due to the following error codes: P079A-00 (transmission issue), P0A43-00 (hybrid battery issue), and P0A7D-00 (battery voltage issue). These problems have nearly caused accidents, including: On the highway: Power loss while overtaking, leaving me in a dangerous situation. In city traffic: Repeated power loss, almost causing collisions. The issues are well-documented among Pacifica Hybrid owners in the USA. NHTSA has received numerous complaints, and there are active class-action lawsuits due to unresolved problems. My vehicle was involved in a minor collision in the USA, classified as "clear title" (cosmetic damage only, no impact on the drivetrain or battery). Repairs were done professionally, and there is no connection to the current issues. I have contacted Chrysler and the authorized service center in Berlin, but received no response. This issue poses a direct safety risk, and I urge NHTSA to investigate and ensure a permanent solution. Attached: Error codes and incident descriptions. Correspondence with Chrysler and the service center. Documentation of the collision and repairs. Thank you for your attention. I look forward to your prompt response. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I was renting this vehicle. On my way home on the highway, going about 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly illuminated the check engine light. Soon after, an message appeared on the dash warning me that I needed to stop and that the vehicle would shut off soon. I immediately pulled over and turned at the next county road. However, I did not realize until this point that my engine power was now being limited to almost nothing. As I crossed a railroad crossing and realized I didn't have engine power, I just hoped that I'd be able to cross and not end up dead on the tracks. Thankfully there was still enough engine power being made available to me to cross the tracks safely and park further down the road. I then turned off the vehicle, called the rental emergency hotline, and was actually able to start the vehicle again at that point without the error. However, the check engine light was still illuminated. I drove the rest of the way home with the check engine light on, but had no other encounter of the message warning me that the vehicle would shut off soon.
While driving on a busy freeway, a warning light appeared: "Stop safely vehicle will soon shut down" Loss of power in such a situation is dangerous. This happened on three separate occasions during the same trip yesterday. It happened once about a month ago and when we brought it to the dealer, they said it was some sort of computer glitch. On each occasion, after pulling off the road and shutting the car off, we were able to restart and drive normally -- until it happened again. We are taking it to the dealer today. Needless to say, we will not drive the vehicle until this is fixed, because we could be placed in an even more dangerous situation.
While driving on the interstate, the vehicle suddenly lost acceleration without warning. With several 18 wheelers having to brake and swerve behind us, we had to navigate onto the shoulder of the interstate. We had to wait on the side of the interstate for an hour for a tow truck to take us to the nearest dealership. We took the car into the dealership and they kept it for several days and then reported that the car just needed a new battery (12v, not hybrid). I expressed concern with the dealership and later after contacting Chrysler that a dead battery shouldn't cause the car to suddenly lose acceleration while driving, because that is an obvious safety risk, but was told again it was just a dead battery. I also received no invoice from the dealership and was told that it would be emailed to me as soon as they could since a cyberattack had made them unable to issue invoices.
While driving the car on two separate occasions a warning flashed "Pull over, car will shut down" appeared. Car immediately began to decelerate and shut off. After turning car off was eventually able to get it restarted.
It was a rental car, driving on freeway , warning light will come up , saying engine will shut off. The Van had no power, and I had to pull over. I turned off the car for 2-5 minutes and restart. Then the car will accelerate again. I had to drive from LA to Las Vegas. It started doing that after Loma Linda , CA [XXX] , on [XXX]). It took me 7 hours to get to Las Vegas. Because of the constant shut off warning. I had no choice but to do this because SixT rental car couldn't get another car to me for 5-6 hours wait. Shortly into my trip home from work, I entered onto the interstate and accelerated up to speed. Within a minute the vehicle seemed to slow down and I had no power using the accelerator Pedal. The vehicle continued to slow and the gas engine failed to turn on.(this is a PHEV hybrid model). Eventually the vehicle lost all power and I was able to park it along the side of the interstate. The vehicle was still on, AC and electoral systems worked. After about 5 minutes, gas engine spontaneously started back up. I was able to gain speed start bad down the road. Approximately 3 min later, gas engine shuts down and same process occurred. This cycle took place about 6 times before vehicle would not start up anymore and ultimately had to be towed. After a week, dealership is not sure what’s wrong as the transmission has been replaced which did not fix the problem. Dealership is now planning to replace the PIM module although there is an over 45day wait and they are unsure if that will fix the problem.
While driving the vehicle, received a message to stop safely vehicle will shut off soon. The car stops responding to the gas pedal and I had to try to quickly find a safe place to park the vehicle. I am lucky that I was not on a major highway at the time as I had three young children in the vehicle. Once stopped I was unable to turn off the van. The vehicle start/stop button was not responding and it took a long time before I was able to turn off the vehicle to try to restart it. The message remained and the car had to be towed to a dealership. It is now with the dealership while they determine the cause of the shut down. This is a serious issue to occur on a relatively new vehicle.
We were on the interstate. Driving the 80 mph speed limit. Got warning that said stop safety vehicle will shut off soon. I had 4 kids in the vehicle with me. I barely got it onto the shoulder before it completely shut off and would not move. Had to get it towed to nearest dealership 60 miles away. No answers left and now we are stranded. We could have been killed. No warning signs.
I was driving on highway, speed was about 70mph. All the sudden the dashboard said “ Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon”. Then the car start reducing the speed immediately no matter how hard I tried to accelerate. I stopped in the emergency lane. Shutdown the car. Then restart, I could drive about 30s to 60s, then the error came again. It occurred 6 times in total while I drove out the highway to a safety place in 2 miles.
We just purchased the used 2022 Pacifica today., it was 75 miles back home. I left to get Dairy Queen; I turned left onto side road into Norton commons and an alert came up Stop safely your car will slow down soon. Very scary with a family and newb and kids and wife. Especially because cost bought it. Perhaps I should return it!
Driving on the highway, suddenly the message 'Stop Safely - Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon' showed on the dash, including a check engine light and a red turtle icon. After pulling over on the freeway and waiting 10 minutes, I was able to start back up and keep driving. The CEL light stayed on but not the 'stop safely' message.
Driving on a city street, shortly after driving out of a parking lot, and suddenly the message 'Stop Safely - Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon' showed on the dash, including a check engine light and a red turtle icon. After pulling over on a busy city street and waiting 10 minutes, I was able to start back up and keep driving. The CEL light stayed on but not the 'stop safely' message.
While driving on a highway (never at slower speeds), a message will display on the dash that says "Stop Safely, Vehicle will shut off soon." The car then begins to decelerate and I have less than a minute to pull off the road. This issue began in December 2023. The car has been with the dealership from Feb 16 to present (April 4). The dealership was able to reproduce the problem. I am told it's related to the transmission, and am still waiting on a status update.
My wife was driving our 2022 Pacifica Hybrid Touring L to work on 101 freeway when a message came up on the console "Stop Safely. Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" Within minutes and while she was in the middle lane of the Freeway and the speed shutdown to 19mph causing cars behind to almost collide with our van. Drivers showed road rage towards her. She was able to coast to the freeway exit. We got the van towed to a dealer where it is now. I have read many reports of this same thing happening to may others. Something needs to be done about this.
Vehicle lost power & shut itself off while driving on highway at around 70 mph
While driving on the expressway at expressway speeds we got a message on the information system stating the engine will shutdown soon, pullover safely as soon as possible (paraphrased). The van started to lose power almost immediately upon receiving the message. We were lucky to pull over on a multi lane expressway since we were already in the right lane. It appears the gas engine did not engage when the battery was almost out of power (1%). On the side of the road, it took two times to turn the van on and off before the gas engine started. We were able to make it home. The next business day we contacted the dealership and had it towed there for service. After evaluation I was told the entire transmission needed to be replaced since a generator for the electric motor is housed there and is apparently the cause of the problem. At this time my vehicle is still with dealership awaiting parts. I did research online and see the message we got was the focus of a recall (to display the message) but the cause of the mechanical\electrical failure was still unknown from Chrysler/Stellantis. This is unacceptable. We could have easily been in a crash due to the issue. If they can't fix the actual problem, the message needs to display much sooner while the battery still has sufficient power such as 10%. I believe we had 1% indicated on the driver display at the time of the message.
Loss of power while driving at high speed, almost caused crash. The dealership technician inspected and updated PIM software and claimed that it won't happen again. However, the van shut down again while driving on a highway on the 2nd day after the "PIM software update". The car is currently with dealership with no information shared regarding what is causing engine shut down.
7/19/23 - Dash warning to pull over because car was going to turn off (from recall software update). (Image attached) Unclear how long I had and upcoming road was more dangerous, so I pulled over in an area with highway speed traffic and only half a shoulder. Car did not reset on first attempt to restart and stuck in "turtle mode" (<10 mph). When I called the dealership, they originally offered me the roadside assistance number, then talked me through reset over phone when I pushed back that I was not in a safe spot with cars flying past me. I was able to drive <10 minutes to dealer after car reset. They were able to get codes and confirm car is undrivable and I need a new transmission. As of 7/28 they still have my car with no update on when part will be shipped. Prior warning: On 7/11, dash showed "put in P to park" alternating with "press brake and push button to start" while driving down the road (note D for drive in lower right on attached images, also photo of car still on/in run). This started at the same time the car bucked and the check engine light came on solid. (Another image shows the red battery warning light in upper left that came on when car was put in park as other messages continued to alternate.) I pulled over and turned off car. While waiting and thinking about what to do next, the car restarted on its own. (It is possible I pressed button 2x to turn off as I recall it didn't react. But restart was a full minute later!) Restarted. Dealership seemed unconcerned, despite the known issue with Pacifica hybrids. Same issue occurred 7/12. On 7/13 the radio rebooted while driving down the road with no warning. (Radio issues have been ongoing and may be related to overall electrical issues?). On morning of 7/19 when final issue occurred, the radio didn't work at first. On 7/14, I pushed dealership to get software recall update that day as it did not feel safe to drive with the ongoing issues. Recall software update was in place before 7/19 incident.
Vehicle lost all motive power. Accessories[Wdws,HzrdFlashers] still operational. Stopped DEAD in the middle of the road. Managed to ReStart vehicle. "Limped" along to a safer location, in pkg lot.
Driving down the highway. My vehicle notified me that it would shut down soon and to stop safely very unsafe. I felt I was lose control of the vehicle
The air conditioner stopped working and a warning message was displayed on the dash stating service hybrid system, immediately after the Vehicle shut off while driving above 70MPH. Fits symptoms of 03A recall. Vehicle at dealership for service. 80 miles driven by Customer total since purchase
Complete loss of engine power at interstate speed of approximately 75 miles per hour without any prior warning indication or service lamps. This required an immediate emergency stop and crossing multiple interstate traffic lanes without any forward propulsion power. We were able to restart the vehicle. Upon restart the system malfunction indicator lamp was illuminated. Vehicle was driven at slow speed to the nearest dealer service center for evaluation and service.
I was driving this vehicle, a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid this evening, July 7th. The battery was operating on a charge of 1% and the gas tank was 1/3 full. I charged the battery earlier this morning but only for several minutes. This is a rental vehicle I have used for the last week with no problems. Vehicle was idle for about 3 hours prior to this incident. After starting the car at about 8:30 pm, I drove no more than several miles and received a warning that I needed to pull over “immediately” and that a vehicle shutdown was “imminent.” I did so and turned off the vehicle. I turned it on again and the “Check engine” light was on but the notice I received earlier was gone. I was able to drive the rest of the way home which was about 10 miles. I searched the vehicle and VIN later and determined this vehicle was under NHTSA Recall # 23V-010 which had been completed. I am reporting this defect because it seems to be similar to the recall shown as completed on the vehicle in January 2023.
2022 CHRYSLER PACIFICA- Consumer submitted "motor vehicle defect notification form. The notification is in reference to "engine issues". The vehicle has been out of service at least 15 days to repair one or more substantial defects. 3 or more repair attempts have been made to repair the same substantial defect or condition.
The vehicle had a safety recall performed on 3/28/23. The safety recall was to fix the problem of the vehicle shutting off while driving. On 4/23/23 while travelling on the highway at 70 the vehicle went into limp mode and started coasting. I had to drift to the side of the road. I was able to restart the vehicle after waiting 2 minutes. The same thing happened while traveling 70 mph on the highway in 6/16/23. It happened again on 6/18/23 while traveling at 55 mph on a country road. There was no shoulder so had to stop in the road. My families safety was put at risk because there was no warning the engine just stops and the car coasts to a stop. The vehicle has not been inspected by Chrysler.
Everyday over the last two weeks, the minivan will just completely shut off while driving down the highway. I have to try to pull over and restart the minivan. This is particularly dangerous here in the southern California area.
The vehicle lost power and was not accelerating when pressing on gas pedal. The engine light came on but came off 4 days later. Took to the dealership. The engine light was no longer on. Dealer informed me of the recall and said it will take 2 to 3 days to fix. After 6 days the dealership has contacted me and said it'll be another 2 to 2.5 weeks as software update triggered a need to replace a module.
Van engine suddenly turned off while I was driving on a local highway on April 3, 2023. Six people were in the car. I was able to stop at a turning lane before an intersection, turned off the engine and after re-starting it worked again. I brought the car to the dealership and was told that there is a 03A recall that will fix the problem. It took 3 week to get an appointment to perform the recall fix. I was told not to drive the car during that time. - On April 20th, I brought the car to dealership for the recall fix. It took only 3 hours and I got my car back. - On April 22nd, I took my family to Torrance area. On the way home, while driving on the HOV lane of I-405 North, my van suddenly slowed down from 70mph - 40mph and continued to cruise at around 40mph. Even when I hit the accelerator, it wouldn't go pass 40mph. Engine light turned ON and a message popped up saying 'Vehicle will shut off soon, stop safely'. But I couldn't stop safely on a super-heavy-traffic freeway where everyone drove 70+mph. So I parked on the narrow shoulder on HOV lane, with cars zooming by. I turned off the engine, re-started it but the condition stayed the same. I turned it off again, this time waited 5 min before starting the engine and it finally turned back to normal. I am too scared to drive my newly bought van now. It is a family van, so my whole family always ride in the van with me. We are in Los Angeles traffic where people drive very fast. When the van shuts off in the middle of the fast moving freeway, it is an accident waiting to happen. It has happened twice in 3 weeks. It happened even after I brought the van in for the recall fix. - Chrysler Pacifica 03A recall fix is not fixing the problem. Please, help us. Pacifica Hybrid owners' lives are at risk every time they drive their vans. They also put other drivers at risk.
Car stops suddenly on highways and other road with a warning and red turtle sign on dashbaord . I was able to switch off the car for few min and then turn it on and get back to road again but it is happening while I am on road especially on highways it is very dangerous. I took car to dealer ship and they did some computer restart and send me home , the same issue happened even after that. Attaching pictures of the dashboard on each and every occurrence to notice the miles .
I was driving around 15 mph and the van suddenly lost all electrical and engine power. I could not drive and none of the instruments were working. I could not turn on the emergency blinkers / hazard lights. I could not restart the van. No buttons were working. The van came to a stop with some bad sounds from the engine. I was on a hill and I had to keep my foot on the brake otherwise the van would start rolling backwards. I could not place the vehicle into park and the parking break did not work either. This means I was effectively trapped in the vehicle, in the middle of the road, unable to engage any hazard lights. I called my spouse and he drove to meet me. He opened the hood and after a minute the power returned and the vehicle displayed a "service electrical system" message. I was then able to drive the vehicle home about half a mile. Later that evening the vehicle again "died" and was unresponsive. Hours later it is still not turning on and will have it towed to the dealership. This complete loss of power has happened a few times before, but always when the vehicle was parked overnight and I discovered it was not working in the morning. But it would always turn itself back on after a few minutes.
The vehicle was part of the O3A recall notice and was taken in about 2 to 3 weeks ago to have the software "fix" done. Last evening while driving on the highway, the car gave the warning of safely exit road way, you are about to loose power. The power loss was immediate and was almost reended by the vehicle behind, but was able to get off highway with out accident.
The vehicle will randomly stall out. We took it to the dealer to get it fixed, they kept it for a month and did a software update. It's been 2 weeks and it stalls out about 6 times a week still. It's very dangerous and we can't even use it on the highway. Only backroads. Chrysler and the dealership have said it can't be fixed and they are not taking responsibility.
I am filing a complaint about unsatisfactory remedy of recall 03A/NHTSA 23V-010 and would like to make a motion for a hearing on this remedy.
On 3/6/2023 while driving on a freeway, my vehicle experienced a complete loss of motive power and the accelerator was unresponsive. The dash gave me a warning that the vehicle was off. On 3/7/2023, the same incident occurred twice while on the same freeway. on 3/7/23, I dropped it off at Moss Bros Chrysler Dealer in Riverside, CA for the loss of motive power recall I was just notified of. The software update from the recall was performed, and the service adviser informed me that it was successful and the issue had been resolved. On 3/9/2023, I drove it on the freeway, and again, the same loss of motive power occurred. This time, the dash warned me that vehicle shutdown was imminent, and a turtle icon displayed on the dash. However, the moment the dash displayed this information, all motive power was lost and the experience was identical to before the software update. This is a significant safety issue as the freeways in my area usually do not have any shoulders or areas that are safe to pull over on. This is a serious defect that poses a safety risk to anyone in the vehicle. It has not been fixed by the recall.
While traveling at full highway speed, the Pacifica turned off entirely without warning. We had to navigate in traffic through 4 lanes to pull over with children in the vehicle. The vehicle would not turn back on after pulled over until hours afterwards. However we towed the vehicle to a dealership due to the safety concern
It seems that some of the standard safety features are unavailable or missing due to some reason which is mentioned in the optional equipment. below two things seem to be missing: 1. Safety sphere 2. ParkSense Rear Park Assist Additionally, there is also a recall on this vehicle regarding the safety issue. Dealer is denied to make any changes or repair to the vehicle. Please investigate the matter as these are major safety issues.
The vehicle was running while I was drove in the freeway. Suddenly, the screen dash kept pop up an message" shift to P, push the bottom to restart" the "D" kept blinking. The vehicle was slowing down even I stepped in gas. I had to parked to Emergency Parking on Highway immediate. Then I pushed the Power bottom to turn off the car. Then cannot back on. After 2 - 3 hours, the tow truck came, he able to restart the car. The car end up tow to the dealership that located in Pleasanton CA. But the dealership still have not to diagnose of my car since when the car been towed to their shop for 7 business day from now. No answer giving at all. Also Never receive Safety Recall noticed by mail, by text or by email.
at 5k miles, the engine light came on, and error message was a engine misfiring. This caused significant difficulty to drive. took it to Chrysler dealership. They ended up saying it was an transmission issue and replaced the entire transmission.
When it is unusually cold, the heater fails to heat the hybrid battery sufficiently to register the correct voltage. This causes the car to enter “turtle” mode- a special mode that limits the car to 30 mph. It’s designed to allow the driver to get to a dealership. When we were driving at highway speeds about 70mph, during a particularly cold day, the turtle mode dropped us suddenly to 30 mph. This nearly caused an accident as we almost lost control of the vehicle on ice and snow. It was so sudden we had to swerve into the side of shoulder.
Driving down the highway at 80 mph, the engine suddenly quit. The check engine light and battery light illuminated after the engine had quit. I was able to coast to the shoulder. Once stopped the ignition could not be turned off to try to restart the van. It would only move from Run to ACC. After sitting without touching anything for 4-5 minutes, the Ignition indicator moved to Off and then was able to be restarted. This is the third occurrence, the first happening while stopped at a red light and the second in a parking lot when shifting from reverse to drive. The dealer agreed to pick up the van from my work and drive it to their service center. The van quit on that driver once on the return trip. The van had just been in service for 36 days and was returned as operational with no defects on October 19, 2022. The parking lot event occurred 5 days later on October 24 and the highway shutdown on October 26. This is obviously a major safety risk. If I had not been driving at 0500 with minimal traffic the outcome could have been worse.
Was driving home and accelerating when there was a mechanical "thump" noise and the vehicle MIL indicator came on with a "red turtle" indicator on. Vehicle speed/performance was immediately reduced and I was not able to maintain a safe speed or have enough power to travel at appropriate speeds when hills were involved. This is the second time this has happened in this vehicle. The dealer has already looked at the vehicle prior and claimed they found the issue and resolved it. Since it occurred again the issue has clearly not been resolved or properly identified.
The contact owns a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled with the Check Rear Passenger's Seat message displayed. The vehicle was able to be restarted. The dealer was made aware of the failure and scheduled an upcoming appointment. The contact related the failure to the engine; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 250.
Mileage: 250
Was driving down I-270 with family when the vehicle immediately registered a fault that the hood was open and unable to charge/condition battery. All engine power and speed control was lost at highway speeds and was barely able to get out of the way of traffic. I was able to coast to the shoulder without injury or accident with a few near misses. Opened / closed the hood at the side of the road and the fault didn't clear. 5-10 minutes later vehicle cleared the error and I was able to drive to a local dealership who told me "there is nothing they can do for me". The best option I had after talking with the Chrysler dealership was to to drive home praying my family didn't get stuck again.
Red turtle icon appears on dash with message “Vehicle Speed may be Reduced” repeatedly. Check engine light has come on after about the tenth time seeing the red turtle appear then go away. Vehicle has has not lost any ability to drive normally once engine light came on. A week after engine light appeared the red turtle still coming on and off and vehicle will lose power when turtle icon is on. This is a danger to my family if this persists. I have 3 kids in booster/ car seats and to suddenly lose power could be catastrophic in certain situations. Have an appointment to take on for service on 4/27/22 at Len Stoler Chrysler in Westminster MD
On 2/24/2022, we were merging onto the highway when the van powered itself off. The engine light came on. We pulled over, got the van back on, and pulled back onto highway. Almost immediately, the van shut itself off again. On 2/25/2022, on the way to the dealership, the van once again powered itself off on the highway. After arrival to the dealership, the technician said he found a loose cable connecting to the transmission and apparently fixed it. On 3/2/2022, the van shut itself off yet again in the middle of an intersection. In each of these cases, we have been risking get hit by other vehicles. Had we not been able to pull off the highway in time, we could have been hit full speed while our van was completely shut off in the middle of the highway. When the van shuts itself off, it takes a while to be able to power it back on. There is no warning to when it will shut off.
The car stalled while driving. I was driving down a city street and the engine cut off and a message on the dash read "Put Vehicle in P to start." I pulled over and it took several minutes to get the car to restart. This happened several times on the way back to the dealership (we had only just bought the car the day before). Our safety and that of others on the road was put at risk because we were stopped in the middle of traffic and were unable to move. Pulling over across traffic once the car had stalled was also dangerous because I could not propel the car forward. I did manage to steer the car to the side of the road. After this happened several times in the course of a few blocks, I called for roadside assistance to tow the car back to the dealership. After the incident happened, the "check engine" light came on. The car is currently at the dealership awaiting repair.
