I REPLACED THE FUSE BUT THE HORN WOULD STILL GO OFF BY ITSELF AT RANDOM TIMES. A DEALER TOLD ME THE CLOCK SPRING IN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. APPARENTLY, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE, AND IT IS VERY UNSAFE SINCE IT AFFECTS THE AIRBAGS AS WELL AS THE HORN.

I TALKED TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND WHILE THEY AGREED THERE IS A PROBLEM IT IS NOT HAD ENOUGH COMPLAINTS FOR CHRYSLER TO ADMIT THERE IS A DESIGN/SWITH PROBLEM. THE REPAIR COST IS TO EXPENSIVE AND THE SIMPLE SOLUTION COULD AND PROBABLY IS A DANGEROUS ONE AND THAT IS TO DISCONNECT THE HORN. I HOPE CHRYSLER ACTS ON SOMETHING THAT IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM BEFORE SOME IS SERIOUSLY HURT. AFTER CONSULTING WITH THE CHRYSLER DEALER, I AM BEING TOLD THAT THE REMEDY FOR THE SITUATION IS TO CHANGE THE ENTIRE AIRBAG MODULE, SINCE THE HORN BUTTON IS A PART OF THAT ASSEMBLY. THIS ASSEMBLY CAN NOT BE TAKEN APART FOR REPAIR. AFTER LOOKING ON THE INTERNET, I SEE THAT THIS IS A QUITE COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE. IN MOST STATES THE HORN MUST WORK IN ORDER TO PASS A VEHICLE INSPECTION . I ALSO PHONED THE CHRYSLER CORP. TO LET THEM KNOW OF THIS ON GOING UNSAFE ISSUE THAT SO MANY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS ARE LIVING WITH AND THEY SAID THEIR WERE NO RECALLS AT THIS TIME . THERE HAS PROBABLY ALREADY BEEN MANY ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES FROM THIS HIDDEN FAILURE . I PURCHASED MY SEBRING IN MAY OF 2007 & THE REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER CONTACT KEEPS BREAKING OFF FROM THE WINDOW AND THEREFORE DOESN'T HEAT THE REAR WINDOW FOR ICE REMOVAL. I DON'T REMEMBER EXACTLY WHEN THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS BUT IT WAS WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OF PURCHASE. IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED 3 TIMES BY EITHER SOLDER OR GLUE. THIS WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. ON THE 3RD REPAIR MY REAR WINDOW SHATTERED ON 12/24/10 (I MIGHT ADD IT WAS SNOWING!). I CONTACTED MY INSURANCE COMPANY & WAS ADVISED TO BRING THE CAR TO A CAR REPAIR FACILITY (WHO MY INSURANCE COMPANY DEALS WITH) WHO SPECIALIZED IN THE REPAIRING OF CONVERTIBLE TOPS. A NEW REAR WINDOW WAS ORDERED & THE REPLACED. AGAIN! THE CONTACT HAS BROKEN OFF FROM THE WINDOW & AGAIN! I AM LEFT WITHOUT A WORKING REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER! I FIND THIS TO BE A SOMEWHAT DANGEROUS SITUATION AS CONVERTIBLE TOPS LACK A FULL REAR VIEW & HAVING NO WAY OF DEFOGGING MY REAR WINDOW LEAVES ME AT A DISADVANTAGE. SEVERAL TIMES MY HORN CAME ON AND HONKED CONTINUALLY. IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DRIVING AS WELL AS WHEN MY CAR WAS JUST SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY. SINCE I DON'T HAVE THAT MUCH MONEY TO SPARE, MY THEY TOLD ME TO PULL THE HORN RELAY FUSE OUT. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN SAID DOING THAT WOULD STOP THE HORN, BUT ALSO PREVENT THE AIR BAG FROM DEPLOYING. SO NOW I AM DRIVING WITHOUT A HORN OR AN AIR BAG, A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD, ESPECIALLY WHEN MY WIFE AND CHILDREN MUST RIDE IN OUR CAR. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER TO LODGE A COMPLAINT & THEY WERE VERY RUDE TO ME & THE REP TOLD ME TO DO WHATEVER AS THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A COMPLAINT, EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF GTC OWNERS THAT ARE COMPLAINING ALL OVER THE INTERNET OF THE EXACT SAME ISSUES!!!
