I PURCHASE THIS USED 1999 CHRYSLER SEBRING LXI 2 YEARS AGO AND WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER IT ONLY NEEDED A WHEEL ALIGNMENT. AFTER ATTEMPTING TO GET AN ALIGNMENT I WAS INFORMED THAT THE LOWER LATERAL CONTROL ARMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS EXTREMELY SCARY AND VERY HARD TO GET FIXED BECAUSE OF MY WORK SCHEDULE. I CONTACTED A DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR HAD THE RECALL WORK DONE IN 2001. I LOOKED MY VIN UP ON THE CHRYSLER WEBSITE AND WAS ADVISED THERE WAS NO RECALL AFFECTING MY VEHICLE. FIRESTONE WOULD HAVE CHARGED ME OVER $1000 TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT I CAN NOT AFFORD TO. MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY UNDRIVEABLE. I AM ALSO HAVING ISSUES WITH MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR WHICH HANGS SLIGHTLY WHEN OPENED AND MUST BE LIFTED TO CLOSE. MY SIDE PANELS ON BOTH DOORS KEEP GETTING DISLODGED BUT HAVE NOT FELL OFF YET. I AM TRULY AFRAID FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY WITH THIS VEHICLE AND DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO FIND SOMEONE TO FIX AT A COST I CAN AFFORD. *TR

THE DOOR CLADDING ON MY 1999 CHRYSLER SEBRING LXI HAS BEEN DEFECTIVE SINCE I FIRST PURCHASED THE CAR NEW IN DECEMBER 1998. THE DEALERSHIP ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE PROBLEM AT LEAST 3 TIMES AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS WITH MY DOOR PANELS HANGING OFF WHICH IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN. WHY WASN'T THIS PROBLEM RECALLED AS SOON AS IT WAS DISCOVERED BY DAIMLER CHRYSLER? THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FILED WITH NHTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I RECENTLY SPEND MONEY HAVING THE WHEEL HUB REPLACED AND WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT THE BALL JOINTS RECALL WHICH WAS PROBABLY RELATED TO THE HUB PROBLEM ACCORDING TO MY MECHANIC. THE LATCH TO SECURE THE HOOD IS DEFECTIVE -- THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR ME. *NM
THE CONSUMER OWNS A CONVERTIBLE AND INDICATED THAT THE ROOF TOP STITCHING AROUND THE DOORS AND WINDOWS OF THE CONVERTIBLE WAS ROTTED CAUSING THE REAR WINDOWS TO FALL OUT. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT A WARRANTY ITEM AND THAT THEY WILL DO NOTHING. THERE RESPONSE WAS THAT DUE TO THE FLORIDA HEAT, IT WILL DO THIS AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY WILL DO. *NM CONSUMER REQUESTING NEW TOP AND STITCHING OF THE ROOF ON VEHICLE. *LA

I HAVE SEVERAL ISSUES/DEFECTS IT STARTED @ 8/29/00 BOTH DOOR MOLDINGS FELL OFF THEY HAD TO REPLACE DOOR CLADDING, STARTED BEFORE 7/9/02 BUT TOOK CAR IN ON THAT DATE BECAUSE PAINT DELAMINATED AND WAS PEELING COVERED 100% BY DAILMER CHRYSLER AND STILL AS OF 6/9/04 I AM STILL FIGHTING WITH DAIMLER CHRYSLER TO REPAINT THE VEHICLE, THE WHOLE PAINT JOB/CLEAR COAT IS COMING OFF THE CAR. BUT NOW THEY ONLY WILL COVER 50% AND ONLY THE AREAS AFFECTED THEREFORE, I WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM UNTIL THE CAR IS COMPLETELY REPAINTED BECAUSE LOGICALLY THE WHOLE CAR WAS PAINTED WITH THE SAME PAINT AND LITTLE BY LITTLE THE PAINT IS DELAMINATING IN SEVERAL AREAS AND WILL CONTINUE UNITL THE CAR IS ENTIRELY REPAINTED. 2 RECALLS- RECALL #967 LOWER BALL JOINTS AND RECALL #884 MOLDING TRIM CLIPS, BRAKES SQUEALING, BRAKES REPLACED TWICE 08/24/02 & 05/04/04 AND ROTORS RESURFACED, TIRES REPLACED 3 TIMES, THE PASSENGER HANDLE BROKE AND CAN'T ENTER THE CAR FROM PASSENGER HAVE TO OPEN DOOR FROM INSIDE. THE DRIVERS SIDE INSIDE MOLDING WHERE THE DOOR AND WINDOW BUTTONS ARE CAME OFF AND THE PLASTIC AIR VENTS BROKE, I AM IN THE PROCESS TO GET THE INSIDE MOLDINGS, AIR VENTS AND PASSENGER HANDLE ESTIMATES TO GET IT FIXED AND MAILING . WHILE OPENING THE DRIVER 'S DOOR, THE HANDLE FELL OFF. TWO WEEKS LATER THE PASSENGER SIDE HANDLE FELL OFF AS WELL. THE DRIVER PICK UP THE HANDLE AND DROVE TO THE DEALER. THE MECHANIC REPLACED BOTH HANDLES DUE TO WORN PARTS. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *NM

I OWN A '99 CHRYSLER SEBRING LXI COUPE AND I'M HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE DOOR TRIM OR CLADDING. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE DOOR TRIM FLAPPING AT THE REAR EDGE OF THE PASSENGER DOOR AND SLIDING FORWARD GETTING CAUGHT CLIPPING THE FRONT FENDER WHILE OPENING THE DOOR. I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL REGARDING THIS PROBLEM AND I CALLED CHRYSLER CORP. I WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL COVERED VEHICLES MANUFACTURED UP TO AUGUST '98. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED ON OCTOBER '98. I BELIEVE MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL DUE TO THE FACT THAT I'M EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT MY CAR WAS PRODUCED SO CLOSE TO THE RECALL DEADLINE. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE THE DOOR PANEL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE CAME PARTIALLY UNATTACHED. WE NOTICED THIS WHEN WE STOPPED AT A GAS STATION. WHEN I OPENED THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR THE PANEL CRUSHED INTO THE FRONT QUARTER PANEL AND DENTED IT. I CONTACTED A LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY COULD FIX IT FOR ME BUT IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY FOR THE DOOR PANEL FALLING OFF. HOWEVER, THEY DID OFFER TO FIX IT FOR ME FOR A COSTLY SUM TO BE DETERMINED ONCE THEY SAW THE VEHICLE AND ESTIMATED THE DAMAGE.*AK

I AHVE BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIPABOUT THE HOT TAR THAT WAS LEAKING FROM MY DOOR AND THEY SAID THAT THEY FIXED IT. WELL THE NEXT SUMMER IT GOT HOT ONCE AGAIN AND THE HOT TAR GOT ON CLOTHING AND MY LEG. HOW EVER BY THIS TIME MY WARRANTY WAS OUT AND SO THEY SAID IT WAS NOT THERE RESPONSEBILITY AND I AHD TO COVER THE REPAIR SINCE THEY HAD NO RECORD OF THE REPAIR. I ALSO CONTACTED CHRYSLER ONTHE PROBLEM AND THE EMPLOYEE RESPONSE WAS "JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE HAVEING PROBLEMS DOES NOT MEAN ANYONE ELSE IS!"I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THAT I WOULD NEVER EVER BUY ANOTHER CHRYSLER PRODUCT AGAIN! I HAVE GOTTEN NO CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM THE DEALERSHIP BUT I AHD AN AWESOME SALESAMAN WHO CAN NOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP! BUT SELL ME ANOTHER CAR IN SIX MONTHS AFTER I PAY THIS ONE OFF MORE. ALL IN ALL THIS HAS BEEN A LEARNING ADVENTURE FOR ME.*AK
WE NOTICED "TARRY DROPPINGS ON LEDGE WHEN WE OPENED DRIVERS DOOR THEY SEEMED TO BE LEAKING FROM THE DOOR. WE HAVE POWER WINDOWS AND LOCKS. WE WERE NOT TOO CONCERNED I THOUGHT THEY WERE JUST CAUSED BY THE EXTREME HEAT OF THE DESERT AREA HERE IN PHOENIX. THE ONLY PROBLEMS WERE MY WIFE HAD TO RAISE HER DRESS TO KEEP THE TAR FROM GETTING ON THE HEM . SOON AFTER MY CAR REACHED 36,000 MILES MY LOCKS GOT SLOW TO WORK. THEN ABOUT 37,000 MILES MY OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE JUST FELL OFF WHEN I SHUT THE DOOR. I HAVE ASKED CHRYSLER TO FIX THIS OBVIOUS FLAW IN CONSTRUCTION BUT THEY HAVE TOLD ME SINCE MY CAR WAS NOT IN WARRANTY THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE. I HAVE OWNED MANY CARS AND HAVE NEVER SEEN OR HEARD OF ANYTHING CLOSE TO THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. I THINK CHRYSLER SHOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND FIX THIS. WHILE TRAVELING AT 30 MPH ON ICY ROAD CONDITION VEHICLE SPUN OUT OF CONTROL AND LANDED FACING WEST, WHEN A 18 WHEELER HIT CONSUMER AT ABOUT 65 MPH, AND NONE OF AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.*AK THE AIR BAGS FAILED ON HEAD COLLISION PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT, THE ENGINE HAD OVER HEATED AND WOULD NOT START. WHILE TRAVELINGON A FREEWAY, WE HAD THE CONVERTIBLE TOP DOWN AND COVERED WITH THE 'BOOT".AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES THE BOOT FLEW OFF.THE BOOT IS HELD IN PLACE BY "VELCRO". IN MY OPINION VELCRO IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO HOLD THE BOOT AND IS UNSAFE. I HAVE ASK CHRYSLER FOR TEST RESULTS FOR THE BOOT AND THEY STATED NONE WAS AVAILABLE,I SHOULD CONTACT YOUR DEPARTMENT.
