ESP BAS light on dash
I was leaving my place of residence and was navigating a 90 degree left hand turn while in drive at approximately 10mph. As I began to attempt to straighten the wheel and accelerate out of the turn I realized I had no steering and the car wouldn't accelerate. The engine had stalled and the steering wheel was locked while turned to the left. No warning lights or messages were present even after I started the vehicle back up. I feel incredibly lucky this happened at a low rate of speed instead of at highway speed. It has never done anything like this before and we cannot figure out what caused the engine to stall or why there was no steering when it happened.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The local dealer and Brent Brown Chrysler Jeep (1825 N University Pkwy Provo, UT 84604) were made aware of the recall but informed the contact that parts were not available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V396000 (Air bag, Steering) however, the emblem was removed but not replaced. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO US THREE TIMES IN THE LAST THREE WEEKS. SHORTLY AFTER STARTING THE CAR WE TRAVELED LESS THAN A MILE AT ABOUT 25 MPH AND THE ENGINE SUDDENLY TURNED OFF CAUSING THE POWER STEERING AND BREAKS TO FAIL. THE VAN RESTARTED ONE WE PUT IT IN PARK AND CONTINUED TO WORK FINE AFTER THAT. WE WERE DRIVING IN A CROWDED NEIGHBORHOOD WHERE CHILDREN PLAY AT THE TIME.

MY VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING. IT'S BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE. THERE ARE NO LIGHTS THAT COME ON, ON THE DASHBOARD THAT INDICATE ANY ERROR, EXCEPT THE ANTILOCK BREAK LIGHT WILL OCCASIONALLY LIGHT UP. I COULD BE DRIVING SLOW OR FAST, IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE, IT WILL JUST SHUT OFF, AND THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES LOSE POWER AND DON'T WORK. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND CAN EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND HAVE ALSO SEEN THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH HUNDREDS UPON HUNDREDS OF OTHER CONSUMERS WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL. PEOPLE HAVE TAKEN THEIR VEHICLES TO CHRYSLER DEALERSHIPS AND MECHANICS AND NO ONE CAN FIGURE OUT THE CAUSE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN, 2 STILL IN CARSEATS, AND MY YOUNGEST WHO IS 1 IS HANDICAP. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT. I STILL OWE $10,000 ON MY AUTO LOAN FOR THIS CAR, SO I AM STUCK WITH IT. IT SEEMS LIKE THIS IS A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE, SINCE SO MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME MYSTERY SAFETY ISSUE.

I'VE ALMOST RUN INTO A TREE OR OFF THE ROAD ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS SINCE THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY. THE TRACTION LIGHT COMES ON FIRST AND THEN YOU REALIZE THE ENGINE ISN'T RUNNING ANYMORE. YOU HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN START IT AGAIN. IT MAY BE FINE FOR THE REST OF THE DRIVE OR IT MAY STALL AGAIN. TOTALLY RANDOM AS TO WHEN IT DOES THIS. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY AS OF YET. I'VE HAD THE CAR TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES WITH THIS COMPLAINT AND EACH TIME THEY CAN'T REPLICATE IT OR IT WAS DUE TO THE KEY FOB RECALL WHICH WAS PERFORMED ON MY CAR 3 TIMES.

VEHICLE HAS NEVER RUN TO OF GAS. VEHICLE ALWAYS HAS OIL CHANGES DONE BEFORE REQUIRED TIMES. VEHICLE IS DRIVEN VERY LIGHTLY. CONDITION- VEHICLE WAS DRIVING AT 32 MPH ON A CITY ROAD IN KILLEEN TEXAS, TAKING A SLIGHT TURN IN A ROAD. ANGLE OF ROAD WAS LESS THAN A 120 DEGREE TURN. VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES BEHIND THE VAN. BRAKES LOCKED UP, STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP, AND GAUGES CONTINUE TO WORK UNTIL VEHICLE STOPS. VEHICLE DID NOT RESTART FOR 3 MINUTES AND 7 SECONDS. CONDITION- VEHICLE WAS DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY 90 IN KILLEEN TEXAS NEAR THE TJ MILLS EXIT. SPEED WAS 72 MPH, VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND SHUT OFF. STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKES LOCK. VEHICLE NEARLY CAUSED A MULTI CAR COLLISION, BUT DUE TO OTHER DRIVERS BEING AWARE NO ACCIDENT HAPPENED. CONDITION- FORT HOOD TEXAS, VEHICLE IS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, NEAR A STOP LIGHT APPROACHING AT A SPEED OF 13 MPH. VEHICLE SHUTS OFF, STEERING LOCKS, BRAKES LOCK, AND VEHICLE WILL NOT GO OUT OF DRIVE. VEHICLE IS NEARLY HIT BY TRAFFIC FROM BEHIND. MILITARY POLICE ARRIVE ON SCENE AND ASSIST DRIVER WITH MOVING VEHICLE TO A SAFE LOCATION. VEHICLE DID START AFTER 22 MINUTES AND 7 SECONDS. VEHICLE WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT, THERE WERE NO HILLS PRESENT. AFTER RESEARCHING MULTIPLE SITES, THREADS, FORUMS, AND BUSINESS, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT REQUIRES IMMEDIATE ATTENTION FOR SAFETY OF LIFE.

MY TRACTION SENSOR IS NOT WORKING WHICH IS CAUSING MY A SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN I START DRIVING (IN MOTION), THE ABS TRACTION STARTS EVEN WHEN THERE IS NO WATER, ICE OR POOR DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ABS MODULE AND ITS STILL DOING IT. THEY NOW SAY THEY WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE SENSOR IN THE STEERING COLUMN (WHEEL). THIS IS VERY SCARY AS IT STOPS MY ACCELERATION AND IT AFFECTS THE ANTI-LOCK BREAKS. I WAS HOPING THIS WAS ALL DUE TO AN MINOR AUTO COLLISION BUT THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOLD ME THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY THIS COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BECAUSE OF IT. THEY SAID ITS A COINCIDENCE AND THAT IT JUST HAPPENED ON ITS OWN AT THE SAME TIME. I WOULD SAY THE FAULT IS UNKNOWN.
MY CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY HAD PERFORMED THE RECALL ON THE IGNITION SWITCH HOWEVER MY VAN STILL SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING. AT FIRST IT STARTED UPON MORNING WHEN FIRST STARTING OUT THE DAY, BUT NOW IT SHUTS OFF EVEN AFTER 45 MINUTES OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE CAUSING ME TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE STEERING AND HAVING TO BE CAUTIOUS SO THAT I WONT BE REAR ENDED OR WORSE. I HAVE TAKING IT IN TO BE DIAGNOSED BUT THE TECHNICIANS AFTER HAVING THE VAN HOOKED UP TO THEIR DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE ARE STILL UNABLE TO SEE ANYTHING WRONG. NO ERROR CODES ARE SHOWING. ALSO NOW, WHILE PARKED AND THE ENGINE OFF WITH NO KEYS... MY DOORS WILL JUST OPEN BY THEMSELVES OR AUTOMATICALLY LOCK. IT DID IT YESTERDAY MORNING HOWEVER MY CAR WAS RUNNING, THE VAN LOCKED SOUNDING MY ALARM THAT SOUNDED AS IF I HAD PRESSED THE KEY TO LOCK. MINE WENT OUT AND WHEN THE MECHANIC TRIED TO GET ONE FROM THE LOCAL DEALER HE WAS TOLD THAT IT IS BACKORDERED ALONG WITH SEVERAL HUNDRED BACKORDERED. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AS IT AFFECTS MANY ITEMS.

I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND FOUND NO ERROR CODES.

IT'S AN ESTABLISHED, DEFECTIVE PART BUT THEY'LL LET ME DRIVE AWAY IN IT UNLESS I CAN COME UP WITH THE MONEY. I HAVE A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. MY VIN NUMBER IS [XXX]. I HAD THE RECALL (R03 / NHTSA 14V-373) DONE TO MY VEHICLE THAT WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE JUST TURNS OFF AND STEERING LOCKS. SO I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR OF THIS RECALL HOWEVER, IT STILL DOES THE SAME THING. WHENEVER DRIVING IT TURNS OFF AND LOCKS WHEEL WHICH IN SEVERAL INSTANCES ME AND MY FAMILY COULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. I ALSO LET A FRIEND BORROW THE VEHICLE AND IT DID THE SAME THING TO HIM. NOW I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHICH IS JEEP CHRYSLER LOCATED AT 55 W I 240 SERVICE RD, OKLAHOMA CITY, OK 73139. THEY STATED THE CODES DID NOT SHOW A MODULE REPAIR AND THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE AS BEFORE. THEY SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED THE MODULE AND THE KEY FOBS BEFORE DURING THE RECALL REPAIR. THEY WANTED ME TO PAY AND AUTHORIZE A TWO HOUR DIAGNOSTIC FOR A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN REPAIRED. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE I PURCHASED IT. HOWEVER, WHEN I FIRST WENT IN 2011 AND ADDRESSED THE ISSUE WITH JEEP CHRYSLER ORGANIZATION. THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, YEARS LATER NOW THAT A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE THAT WAS REPORTED BY ME PREVIOUSLY , THEY TRIED FIXING IT. ATTACHED IS THE RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. EVEN AFTER THEY ALLEGEDLY REPAIRED THIS PROBLEM, IT STILL DOES THE SAME THING AS BEFORE TURNS OFF, SO THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED CORRECTLY. NOW THEY ARE WANTING ME TO PAY FOR FURTHER TESTING OF MY VEHICLE BEFORE THEY WILL REPAIR THE ISSUE. IT IS A TRUE SAFETY HAZARD AND COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURY. AFTER THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL WAS PERFORMED ON MY VEHICLE WE EXPERIENCED A STALL CONDITION THAT RENDERED THE STEERING AND BRAKES UNUSABLE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. AFTER HAVING THAT HAPPENED I HAD THE RECALL ON MY VAN FIXED. WELL THE LIGHTS ARE STILL THERE AND NOW THE DRIVING IS WORSE. I CANT CONTROL MY STEERING AND THEY SAY IT IS MY STEERING ANGLE SENSOR. THEY ALSO SAY MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDS FIXED AND A PCM FLASH. WHICH I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW ALL THESE PROBLEMS STARTED SINCE MY IGNITION UNWILLINGLY SHUT OFF. I AM THINKING THAT CAUSED A POWER SURGE, AND NOW ITS GOING TO COST ME $2000 TO FIX IT IF NOT MORE. IT WAS NEVER LIKE THAT BEFORE AND NOW THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH IT. DEALER CLAIMS IT IS THE CLOCK SPRING ASSEMBLY AND WILL COST BE ROUGHLY $500 BUT DEALER REFUSES TO PAY FOR IT. THEY STATED THEY WERE NO WHERE NEAR THE STEERING WHEEL WHICH IS HARD TO BELIEVE SINCE THEY WERE REPLACING THE IGNITION WHICH I THOUGHT WERE RIGHT NEXT TO IT. I HAD MY VEHICLE RETURNED AFTER TWO WEEKS CHARGED $235 DOLLARS AND WAS TOLD GOOD LUCK TO YOU WE HAVE NO CLUE WHAT'S CAUSING IT. AFTER THE RESTART IT AGAIN SHUTDOWN ON ITS OWN AT THE NEXT STOP SIGN. I RESTARTED AND HAVE NOT HIS THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM HAPPEN AGAIN. I HAVE ALSO HAD RANDOM PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING / HEATER FANS RANDOMLY SHUTTING OFF. SO FAR, I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GUIDE THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND COME TO A STOP. IT APPEARS THAT I STILL HAD STEERING AND BRAKING CAPABILITIES. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, RESTART THE VEHICLE, AND TRAVEL ON WITHOUT INCIDENT THE FIRST TWO OCCURRENCES. HOWEVER, ON JUNE 25, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY RESTART. IT DID RESTART AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. UNLESS THE CONDITION REPEATS FOR THE MECHANIC, THE LIKELIHOOD OF THEIR BEING ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE ROOT CAUSE IS SLIM. WITHIN THE PAST WEEK, THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL TIMES THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DIFFICULT TO START. THE VEHICLE WILL TURN ON AND THEN IMMEDIATELY TURN ITSELF OFF. ADDING GAS BY DEPRESSING THE FUEL PEDAL DOES NOT AFFECT THE VEHICLE'S ABILITY TO REMAIN STARTED. IT STILL TURNS ITSELF OFF. THUS FAR, I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE STARTED EVENTUALLY. I TOOK THE VAN TO AVONDALE DODGE AND THEY FINALLY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AS THEY FOUND IT WAS CRACKED THIS WAS IN OCTOBER OF 2013, SO MY CLAIM WAS CLOSED WITH CHRYSLER. VAN SHUT DOWN AGAIN ON 12-22-13 WHILE LOOKING AT CHRISTIMAS LIGHTS IN MY COMMUNITY. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL OTHER INCIDENTS SINCE 12-22-13 THAT MY VAN HAS SHUT DOWN THE LATEST BEING ON 6-4-14 WHILE DRIVING ON THE 101 FREEWAY GOING 65 MILES AN HOUR. I HAD TO THINK QUICK AND I REMEMBER THAT MY SON WHO HAS A 2005 DODGE RAM HAD THIS SAME ISSUE WITH HIS TRUCK AND HE TOLD ME TO PUT THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTART THE VAN AS IT WAS COASTING AND THEN PUT IT BACK INTO DRIVE. THE VAN RESTARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO GET TO MY DESTINATION AND BACK HOME WITHOUT ISSUE. I CALLED CHRYSLER ON 6-6-14 TO REPORT THAT THE ISSUE CONTINUES AND THAT IT HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY THIS LAST TIME. THEY STARTED A NEW CLAIM AND HAD ME TAKE IT BACK TO LARRY H. MILLER AVONDALE DODGE. TOOK VAN TO DEALER WHO SAID DIAGNOSTIC TEST SHOWED NOTHING (OTHER PEOPLE REPORT THIS SAME EXPERIENCE). THEY UPDATED THE PCM SOFTWARE. I IDLED THE LAST 1/2 MILE HOME TO GET THE VAN IN THE DRIVEWAY. THE NEXT MORNING I MADE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT AND DROVE THE VAN TO THE DEALERSHIP. IT STOPPED RUNNING ONE TIME ON THE DRIVE, WHICH IS APPROX 5 MILES AWAY FROM MY HOUSE. I AGAIN HAD TO STOP THE VEHICLE, PUT IT IN PARK, AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED AND SAID THAT IT WAS A WIRE GOING TO THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL THAT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. I SEE THAT THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING THIS ISSUE IN THE 2010 TOWN AND COUNTRY AND DIDN'T KNOW IF THE SAME BULLETIN APPLIED TO THE 2008. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS THE VAN LOSES ALL ABILITY TO GET UP AND GO. HAD I BEEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT LOST ALL POWER I COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT! ONCE I WAS SEMI-SAFELY OFF THE ROAD, I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUT THE IGNITION OFF. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE IGNITION BACK ON, AND IT SEEMED FINE. I CONTINUED HOME. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. AFTER ABOUT THE 3RD TIME, I HAD A LOCAL STORE SERVICE IT. WE DID NOT HAVE A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AT THE TIME. THEY COULD GET NO ERROR CODE IN THE DIAGNOSTICS, BUT TOLD ME THE THROTTLE PLATE SENSOR (?) NEEDED TO BE CLEANED, AND PERHAPS THAT WOULD HELP. IT DID NOT. IT CONTINUES TO DO THIS, AND THERE IS NEVER ANY WARNING. SO FAR, IT HAS ONLY HAPPENED TO ME GOING 45 OR SO. I'VE CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT THIS, AND OF COURSE THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. I TOLD HER ALL SHE HAD TO DO WAS GOOGLE IT. THAT'S WHAT I DID. THEIR ADVICE WAS TO EITHER HAND IT OVER TO THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THEY COULD GET IT TO MALFUNCTION (BUT SINCE IT COULD BE WEEKS OR MONTHS BEFORE IT HAPPENS, THAT'S REALLY NOT AN OPTION, IS IT?) OR THE NEXT TIME IT DOES THAT, DOCUMENT EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS (AS I'VE DONE HERE AND REPORTED TO THEM) AND TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I STRESSED THAT THE VAN ALWAYS RESTARTS, AND THE CHANCES THAT THEY'D FIND A CODE TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAD ALREADY HAPPENED AND WAS NOW OVER WAS PRETTY MINIMAL. IT SEEMS THAT THEY JUST DON'T CARE TO DIG DEEPER, OR RESEARCH POSSIBLE CAUSES, OR EVEN TAKE A VEHICLE THAT'S HAVING THIS ISSUE AND STUDY IT UNDER A MICROSCOPE. MY BRAKES ARE GRINDING AT TIMES WHEN I STOP AND I FEEL CHRYSLER MUST HAVE A BIGGER PROBLEM WITH THIS VAN THAN THEY ARE TELLING OR WILLING TO MAKE RIGHT. DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHT ESP/BAS ILLUMINATED. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT THE "STEERING ANGLE SENSOR" WAS BAD. THE STEERING "CLOCK SPRING" WAS SUGGESTED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE "STEERING ANGLE SENSOR" WAS PART OF A WHOLE UNIT (THE CLOCK SPRING) AND CANNOT BE CHANGED SEPARATELY. MY VEHICLE WAS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY AT 36,000 MILES AND WAS NO LONGER COVERED. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE BAD PART IS CONNECTED TO THE VEHICLE STABILITY SYSTEM AND WHY IT HAS FAILED SO EARLY IN THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. *TR

WE BOUGHT THIS VAN USED IN MARCH 2010. IT HAS BEEN THE WORST VEHICLE WE HAVE EVER PURCHASED. PRIOR TO THIS 2008 MODEL, WE HAD A 2005. WE REALLY LIKED IT SO WE FIGURED WE'D UPGRADE SO TO SPEAK. THAT WAS THE MOST EXPENSIVE MISTAKE EVER. SINCE THEN WE HAVE REPLACED THE BRAKES AND ROTORS TWICE AND NOW IT NEEDS REAR BRAKE ROTORS. WHEN I AM BRAKING AT ANY SPEED THE VAN SHAKES. THE VAN FEELS COMPLETELY UNBALANCED FOR SOME REASON. WE HAD AN ALIGNMENT DONE ON IT, NEW TIRES, A/C LINE BROKE, RADIO WOULD STOP WORKING, AND ONCE WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VAN HAD THIS WEIRD WHITE SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE VENTS. THE STEERING IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE AND IT EITHER PULLS TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT. WHEN I BRAKE, I HAVE TO PUSH THE BRAKE ALL THE WAY DOWN BEFORE IT FINALLY STARTS TO SLOW. I HAVE 5 YOUNG CHILDREN AND I FEEL EXTREMELY UNSAFE IN THIS VAN. UNFORTUNATELY NOT ONLY ARE WE WASTING MONEY ON REPAIRS, BUT WE'RE WASTING PRECIOUS TIME IN DEALERSHIPS/MECHANICS THAT COULD BE SPENT TOGETHER AS A FAMILY. I REFUSE TO DRIVE HIGHER SPEEDS IN FEAR THAT THE BRAKES WILL FAIL. IN NO WAY DO I HANDLE THIS VEHICLE IN AN AGGRESSIVE MANNER. I FOLLOW ALL SPEED LIMITS AND DO NOT RIDE THE BRAKES. THIS IS NOT I REPEAT NOT NORMAL WEAR ON TEAR FOR ANY KIND OF VEHICLE! THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN NO HELP TO US. WE HAVE A BUMPER TO BUMPER EXTENDED WARRANTY AND IT'S DOING NO GOOD SINCE IT'S NOT EVEN COVERED. WE WILL NEVER EVER PURCHASE A CHRYSLER VEHICLE AGAIN AND GO OUT OF OUR WAY TO DISCOURAGE OTHERS FROM BUYING THEM AS WELL. I FIND IT VERY DISGUSTING THAT CHRYSLER IS NOT DOING ANYTHING TO RECTIFY THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE VERY PRECIOUS CARGO AS I'M SURE MANY OTHERS DO AS WELL. THIS WILL BE THE THIRD TIME WE EXPERIENCE IT, THEY ALREADY REPAIRED, REPLACED AND REBUILT THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES TWICE. I AM CONCERN ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. AT THIS POINT, I WANT TO RECUR TO THE CALIFORNIA LEMON LAW BUT CHRYSLER IS NOT HELPING ME. I BEG YOU HELP ME WITH THIS ISSUE PLEASE. I DO ALL THE REQUIRED MAINTENANCE AT THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. WE LEASE A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. AT AROUND 15,000 MILES THE FRONT BRAKE PADS NEEDED REPLACED AND I WAS TOLD THAT "I MUST BE A HEAVY BRAKER." AT 22,000 MILES WE HAD OUR BRAKE PADS REPLACED AND ROTORS RESURFACED TO THE TUNE OF $334.63. LESS THAN ONE MONTH LATER, WE WERE GETTING THE NOW FAMILIAR GRINDING SOUND UPON BRAKING SO I TOOK IT BACK TO OUR MECHANIC WHO SAID THAT HE SHOULD HAVE JUST REPLACED THE ROTORS IN THE FIRST PLACE SO HE REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS AND ONLY CHARGED US FOR THE ROTORS AND ATE THE COST OF THE PADS AND LABOR. A WEEK AND A HALF LATER I HAD TO RETURN THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC FOR A HORRIBLE SQUEALING WHENEVER I BRAKED. HE FIXED IT AND CHARGED ME NOTHING. NOW 4 MONTHS AND 5,000 MILES LATER, MY BRAKES ARE AGAIN GRINDING HORRIBLY LIKE THEY WERE IN MAY (22,000 MI) AND THE BRAKES AND POSSIBLY ROTORS NEED REPLACED AGAIN. I HAVE OWNED DODGE CARAVANS, A 2005 TOWN AND COUNTRY AND NOW THIS ONE AND HAVE NEVER HAD BRAKE PROBLEMS LIKE THIS SO I DON'T THINK THAT MY BRAKING HABITS ARE TO BLAME. ALSO, AFTER ONE YEAR, THE IGNITION SWITCH STARTED TO "STICK" IN THE WRONG POSITION UPON STARTING THE CAR AND WOULD LEAVE ME WITH NO ELECTRONIC POWER IN THE CAR. NO LIGHTS, RADIO, LOCKS, DASH DISPLAY, ETC. WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IF I TRY TO CORRECT IT WHILE DRIVING AND THE CAR TURNS OFF, I AM MOVING WITH NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES. *TR

DANGEROUS SITUATION IN A CURVE CAUSING ME TO STEER IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF THE TURN. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. ON MAY 1, 10, AND 16, 2008, THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 20-50 MPH. THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING AND ALL THE COMPONENTS IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND THE VEHICLE RESTARTED ON ITS OWN. HE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS NORMAL. ON MAY 19, 2008, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. HE WAS INFORMED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER WHEN DRIVING AROUND CORNERS, BUT DOES NOT SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. THE VEHICLE FAILS TO IMMEDIATELY ACCELERATE FOR UP TO FIVE SECONDS, AND THEN OPERATES NORMALLY. ON OCCASION, THE RADIO WILL NOT TURN ON FOR AT LEAST 45 MINUTES BEFORE OPERATING NORMALLY AGAIN. IN ADDITION, THE SLIDING DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HAS A HISTORY OF OPENING WHEN THE CONTACT IS AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,100 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,638.
