The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who uninstalled an aftermarket remote starter and replaced a multifunction high beam selector switch; however, the failure reoccurred. Several weeks ago while driving at night the headlights suddenly went out creating a very dangerous situation. When I tried to turn the lights back on they blinked a couple of times and then remained off. Over the next several days the lights would come on sometimes and other times they would not. I changed the light switch but that did not help. I sent the TIPM in to a repair center but they have been unable to identify a problem with it.09
The headlights will go off and stay off unexpectedly while driving at night in the dark. Lights will not go back on for days. Then they will work for a random amount of time, then stop working again while driving in the dark again. You may examine this vehicle if you would like. I think that driving in the dark and the lights unexpectedly going off definitely puts my life and the lives of my family and other drivers at great risk. This problem has been confirmed at my local Firestone auto repair center. Neither the police or the manufacturer have inspected the vehicle yet. The tail lights, the dash lights, everything else works just fine. Neither the headlights or the brights will work. This has been going on for a few months. Why so long? The lights will work for weeks at a time, then unexpectedly shut off and stop working for days. Right now they are not working. I see from doing research on the internet that this seems to be a common problem with these vehicles, and I think that NTSB need to do something about it, like issuing a recall. This is a flawed design!
Headlight switch was turned on and headlights came on then went off. Turned light switch off and then on again and the lights came on and then went out again. This happened about dark time and I was 30 minutes from home. Cannot trust vehicle to drive at night as this has happened several times as I test the switch at home. Contacted dealership and all they could tell me is there is not a recall on this issue. No warning lamps came on. Can only drive during daytime as I cannot trust lights.
THE HEADLIGHTS STOPPED WORKING. THEY FLICKER WHEN STARTING THE CAR, BUT THEN SHUT OFF. STANDARD AND HIGH-BEAMS ARE BOTH INOPERABLE. TRIED REPLACING THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH, TO NO AVAIL. FOG-LIGHTS WORK, WHICH IS MY ONLY LIGHTING AT NIGHT. CHECKED ONLINE FOR A SOLUTION. APPARENTLY THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN THE TIPM. TRIED A HARD RESET, BUT AGAIN TO NO AVAIL. THERE IS NO FUSE OR RELAY THAT CAN BE REPLACED TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. THIS ORIGINALLY BEGAN IN JUNE, 2020, WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT THE HEADLIGHTS JUST SHUT OFF. THE HEADLIGHTS FUNCTIONED INTERMITTENTLY FOR A FEW WEEKS, AND THEN FAILED COMPLETELY. THEY STILL FLICKER ONCE WHEN STARTING AND THEN GO OUT.

ADDITIONALLY, THE FIRST TIME, ONE LIGHT WOULD TURN ON AND THE OTHER WOULD STAY OFF AT RANDOM MOMENTS - WITHOUT TOUCHING SWITCHES. I HAVE FOUND THAT PRIOR YEARS' MODELS HAD THIS ISSUE, AS WELL, BUT BECAUSE MINE IS A 2010, CHRYSLER SAYS MINE IS A-OK AND THEY ARE NOT INCLUDING MINE IN THE RECALL. WHILE PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE VEHICLE BEGAN ACCELERATING. THIS ONLY LASTED A BRIEF SECOND, BUT THE VEHICLE JERKED FORWARD AND DROVE OVER A PARKING BLOCK AND OFF THE CURB. SOON THEREAFTER, I BEGAN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE HEADLIGHTS. I WOULD TURN THE LIGHT SWITCH TO ON. THE LIGHTS FLICKERED FOR A SECOND, THEN SHUT OFF. I WOULD TOGGLE THE LIGHT SWITCH AND WOULD EVENTUALLY WOULD GET THE HEADLIGHTS TO TURN ON. THIS ISSUE BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE TO THE POINT WHERE THEY WOULD SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THIS PRESENTED A SAFETY ISSUE. THANKFULLY, I LIVE ONLY 10 MINUTES FROM WHERE I WORK, AND USE THE FOG LIGHTS ON WELL LIT ROADWAYS TO GET BACK AND FORTH, BUT OBVIOUSLY CANNOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR LONG DISTANCES OR ON MAJOR HIGHWAYS AND INTERSTATES DURING NIGHT TIME HOURS. WHILE THIS ISSUE GOT WORSE, THE RADIO IN THE VEHICLE WOULD UNEXPLAINABLE SHUT DOWN. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I HEAR A SOUND LIKE WIRES SHORT CIRCUITING FROM SOMEWHERE INSIDE THE DASH. THE SAME TIME THE RADIO GOES OUT, I NOTICED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING, POWER WINDOWS, AND DOOR LOCKS WOULD ALSO LOSE POWER. AFTER RESEARCHING ALL THESE ISSUES THROUGH THE INTERNET AND CHRYSLER FORUMS, IT SEEMS THE LOGICAL ISSUE WOULD BE THE T.I.P.M. ( TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE). I AM HAVING THE VEHICLE LOOKED AT IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS. MY ONLY CONCERN IS ALL THE COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS MODULE ON CHRYSLER, DODGE AND JEEP VEHICLES, AND NO SAFETY RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED. THUS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY CONCERN AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED IN A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT.

WE TOOK OUR CAR IN FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AFTER THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT COME ON -- EVEN AFTER CHECKING/REPLACING FUSES, REPLACING HEADLIGHT BULBS, AND INSTALLING A NEW HEADLIGHT SWITCH. THE MECHANIC ADVISED US THAT THEIR DIAGNOSTIC CHECK REVEALED AN ERROR CODE FROM THE TIPM. THEY RESET THE CODE, AND THE HEADLIGHTS BECAME FUNCTIONAL AGAIN, BUT THEY WERE UNCERTAIN HOW LONG THE FIX WOULD LAST (IT ONLY LASTED THAT AFTERNOON). AS A RESULT, THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE TIPM. (EXPECTED REPAIR COSTS: $1600, PLUS ABOUT $200 IN REPLACEMENT HEADLIGHT BULB AND SWITCH COSTS.) THE SAME EVENING (OF THE DIAGNOSTIC SERVICE, ABOVE), THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED AGAIN AT NIGHTTIME. WE WERE FORCED TO DRIVE HOME FROM A PROFESSIONAL SPORTING EVENT (ABOUT 6 MILES) ON CITY STREETS IN THE DARK (NO HEADLIGHTS), WITH ONLY HAZARD LIGHTS FLASHING THE WHOLE WAY. I ASKED IF I PAID FOR WHAT THEY THINK WOULD FIX IT AND IT DOESN'T REPAIR DO I GET THE MONEY BACK THE ANSWER WAS NO. SINCE THERE WAS NO WAY TO KNOW IF THIS WAS A ONE-TIME INCIDENT OR THE START OF MORE PROBLEMS, EVEN THE DEALERSHIP WAS RELUCTANT TO ADVISE SPENDING $1200 OR MORE TO REPLACE THE TIPM, ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY COULD OFFER NO GUARANTEE THAT A NEW MODULE WOULD WORK BETTER. IN SEPTEMBER, WE AGAIN EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE HEADLIGHTS, AND ONCE AGAIN THE SYSTEM SEEMED TO RE-SET. WE HAVE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM(ALTHOUGH THEY SAW MANY TIPM ERROR CODES. IT FINALLY OCCURRED AGAIN LAST WEEK AND MY WIFE RUSHED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND NEEDED TO LET THE CAR RUN FOR TWO HOURS SINCE THE TECHNICIAN WAS BUSY AND WE DIDN'T WANT TO RISK THEM NOT SEEING IT OCCUR. THEY HAVE DETERMINED IT TO BE A FAILING TIPM MODULE AND THE PART IS CURRENTLY ON BACKORDER WITH NO ESTIMATED DELIVERY DATE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH MY FAMILY ON A 25 MPH ROAD (THANKFULLY NOT ON THE FREEWAY) WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT. MEANWHILE, SINCE THIS IS A HANDICAP VEHICLE FOR MY 14 YEAR OLD CHILD WHO IS A PARAPLEGIC, I HAVE TO RELY ON MY FOG LIGHTS TO GET HER TO SCHOOL AT 6:45 IN THE MORNING. I NEED THIS VEHICLE. A WEEK LATER, THE BATTERY DEAD AGAIN AND THE BATTERY WAS REPLACES AGAIN. A WEEK LATER THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. AND THE DEALER DECIDED TO DO A COMPLETE DIAGNOSE OF ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENT. THE DEALER CLAIMED THE DASH CLUSTER HAVE TO BE REPLACE. I DON'T TRUTH THE REPLACEMENT OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM, I DON'T TRUTH THE CAR AND I AM FRUSTRATED. BROUGHT CAR TO DEALERSHIP REPEATEDLY SINCE THEN. ALL GAUGES FAIL WHILE WINDSHIELD WIPERS REMAIN ON. DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, THEN A DEFECTIVE DOME LIGHT, THEN CLAIMED THE BATTERY WAS BAD AND REPLACED THAT AGAIN, THEN IT WAS THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM OF HEADLIGHT FAILURE WHILE DRIVING THE T&C VAN SINCE ABOUT 2006. THE DEALER COULD NOT PROVIDE ME A DATE THE REPLACEMENT MODULE WOULD BE AVAILABLE, BUT I HAD TO PAY $663.89 UP FRONT FOR THEM TO ORDER IT. THE HEADLIGHTS WILL NOT WORK AT ALL NOW WITH THIS DEFECTIVE MODULE. I NOW HAVE A DAY TIME, CLEAR DAY ONLY VAN SINCE MY STATE REQUIRED HEADLIGHTS WHEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN. *TR
