Vehicle engine exploded in the middle of the night. Car would remote start on its own as I would lock the doors and walk away prior to the incident. Also the airbag light would come off and on. Notice the day of the incident that the dimmer would disappear and reappear. Very strange I thought. The house could've burned down while we were sleeping. If it wasn't for our neighbors and the quick response of those firefighters it could've possibly burned the house down while we were in there sleeping. The van was picked up by the insurance company two days ago. Not sure what happened as far as it being inspected yet. They have given me the silent treatment. Went to a Chrysler dealership, not where I bought it. This van has had one recall done in 2015. Rear quarter vent window switch.

Failure of engine oil filter housing - engine leaking oil If the engine fails, the vehicle could stop in traffic thereby putting the driver and passengers at risk of injury from other traffic. Independent repair service fixed and stated they average 1 a week. The place that diagnosed the problem said they do quite a few repairs on this engine monthly. Nothing reported but this seems to be a common problem with this engine. Large oil drip only indication of problem.

Left Cylinder failure /misfire on 2014 Town and Country. Most likely 2013 Engine. ) Bought minivan brand new in April 2014. Have had several Chrysler minivans never had issues. Mechanic say this minivan complete failure, too expensive to fix. Impacted Transmission and it is bad too now. No recalls on this and should be. Such a great van and was disappointed I did not get more years and miles out of it.

The cylinder 4 misfires. A leak down test was done by a mechanic and it failed. The entire cylinder head will have to be replaced. There are loads of people with this issue, and I know there was a recall at one point for certain years but the year 2014 was not included, neither was cylinder 4. There were warning signs such as shaking in the car when coming to a stop.

cylinder 2 codes out. Check engine light on. The check engine light, came on 2 weeks ago and has not gone out. Van shakes a little bit, when in low RPM and sitting at lights. It has been confirmed by independent mechanic.

No check engine warning, unpredictable no start, no crank. Physical well being of grandchild, others and self at risk due to high temperatures. This also puts stress on mental well being, how to fix, can I fix, the cost and constant worry of being stranded. Have not confirmed with dealer. Did have a shop review. Battery, alternator good, starter is new. Issue is sporadic and hard to duplicate, but happening daily. Research on internet shows this is common occurrence without a definitive solution. Who has to have a breakdown, not just mechanically speaking to find a solutuon?

The oil cooler that is located under the intake manifold has a very bad issue and they crack and almost everyone of the engines like this I called about 9 diff shops and everyone of them told me it was a very common issue the one shop even keeps 5 in stock I already have changed this one but it causes them to leak oil down onto the exhaust and transmission and for some reason or another when ours started to leak badly the transmission acted up and we had to have that rebuilt so on top of the 250 dollar part it also cost almost 5k for a Transmission at same time I feel there needs to be something done about this as it a very bad common issue on all the engines like ours

I was driving on I95 and the car completely shut down. The RPM went to 0. It started up again after about twenty minutes. I had the car repaired (throttle body replaced) and since that incident I have had this same thing happen four more times. The car seems to “resets” itself. I have had the throttle body replaced twice, the ignition control switch twice, the relay harness and then the relay redone. The van only does this periodically. The dealership had my van for six weeks and “couldn’t duplicate the problem “. This usually happens when driving for over an hour and speeds over 65mph. Last week I was driving to work, eleven miles from home and it happened again. The van restarted after sitting about thirty minutes.

My vehicle engine light came on. Error code P0302 detected. Private mechanic referred to dealership for repair. Dealership confirmed original diagonals. Engine issues consistent with NHTSA bulletins D-14-22, 18-069-16 and 09-002-14. As part of the bulletin vehicle warranties were extended for select vehicle years. My vehicle is under both the year and mileage extension however, does not “qualify” per dealership due to vehicle year not being listed on the bulletins.

The engine light came on after replacing the front cylinder head and was illuminated before this repair. The engine has a constant clicking sound, and runs very rough and nearly to a stall constantly. The vehicle is using fuel at an alarming rate. The vehicle cannot be driven for any distance as the rpms are out of control when accelerating. Mechanics who have looked at the vehicle said this is a common problem with the 3.6 engine and will not be remedied easily. I was advised not to drive the vehicle for safety reasons.

The rocker arms have failed twice and caused a constantly flashing check engine light. I was told by the mechanic that this is a common problem with the 3.6 liter engine and if you continue to drive you will have catastrophic engine damage. The engine shudders and shakes and will not respond as it should. It constantly needs spark plugs. There is a constant ticking in the engine, it misfires and when it loses power you have to make a quick maneuver to avoid being hit. This model requires constant repair. My Chrysler trained mechanic said that there is no permanent repair. He called the Town and County 3.6 liter junk. While going out of town the engine slowed from 80mph to 40mph. An 18 wheeler behind me slammed on brakes and blew his horn. I had to drive off of the road to avoid being killed. I could not drive over 40mph. I found the closest hotel for the night and had to have the vehicle towed the next morning.

The lifters and tappets in the 3.6L Chrysler V6 become prematurely worn, interfering with the engine’s ability to provide power to the vehicle while driving. This results in safety issues where the vehicle will not accelerate adequately at low speeds, which surprises other drivers and places the driver and passengers in our van at increased risk of collision.

Twice now the vehicle has turned itself off. Once idling in a parking lot and once driving down the road. There were no warning lights that came on, the engine just died and all the electronics reset (clock, speedo, etc.).

Oil filter cooler housing unit is leaking at under 150,000 miles. The leaking oil is pooling and is an extreme fire hazard. After my mechanic informed me that this was common in my vehicle it came to my attention that this has been a known issue which Chrysler has refused to take responsibility for.

While traveling at highway speed 65 MPH when the engine and electrical went off without warning, causing all lights, in and out to go off, power steering to be lost and I'm sure power brakes to be compromised. Was able to put vehicle in neutral and restart the engine while coasting. This did happen at night leaving the vehicle without lights while it is coasting and loosing speed on a busy freeway. This has happened a few times previously but this is the first time on the freeway.

Engine Leaked oil from oil filter housing, Thank goodness my boyfriend put the fire out. very big problem he had to repair wires and replace lots of expensive parts because the small fire melted some of the intake and the valve cover. Im just thankful my boyfriend is a mechanic and could fix it for me. 800.00 in just parts. just to find out that there is a updated part that would not leak. But Waldorf dodge Sold me the same part he took off. so its destined to happen again. Chrysler should be ashamed of their design. They put my family at risk and my vehicle. I checked for recalls on it and its not there.

OIL HOUSING LEAK FAILURE which when speaking with my mechanic and looking online, this is a HUGE problem with these vehicles. I don't understand why this has been a recall item as I can see over 56,000 issues online for it. SUCH An ISSUE there is a back order of part. the oil leak is dangerous and can cause fires to cars with mostly families driving them

Oil leak from defective adapter/housing. Oil continuously leaks even shortly after being repaired due to bad product design on the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine. Poses a significant safety hazard and could lead to fire at any point due to all the old oil that has leaked all over the engine bottom. This 2014 Town & Country stalls while driving, even when driving on the highway. It is extremely dangerous to me, and especially to my wife and children ! The check engine light comes on when it is about to stall. My ASE Certified mechanic read a P0302 trouble code. This means that #2 cylinder has a misfire. The mechanic replaced all spark plugs and coils, but the same missfire remains. The actual problem is a defective cylinder head on the left bank. This was determined by a cylinder leak-down test, which shows that #2 exhaust valve is leaking compression. This defective left (#2,4,6 cylinders) cylinder head is well known by all FCA Dealers. My dealer says that ALL of his mechanics have a great deal of experience doing this defective cylinder head replacement. Tens of thousands of left cylider heads have been replaced under an EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM, issued and approved by FCA, which extends engine warranties on their 3.6 LITER ENGINES to 10 YEARS or 150,000 miles. When I try to get my vehicle's defective cylinder head replaced under the EXTENDED WARRANTY FCA PROGRAM, FCA says that they will only replace the defective cylinder head on 2011, 2012, and 2013 vehicles ! They will not cover my vehicle ! Please help, before this engine defect causes a major accident for my family.

WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE TEMPERATURE JUMPED INTO THE RED. WE PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY AND FOUND OIL AND COOLANT SPRAYED ON THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. FURTHER INSPECTION SHOWED OIL IN THE RADIATOR MIXED WITH THE COOLANT. THE OIL COOLER FAILED AND OIL WAS BEING PUSHED INTO THE COOLANT SYSTEM, WHICH CAUSED THE OVERHEATING. WE WERE JUST GETTING UP TO SPEED WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP TO BE REPAIRED. THE OIL COOLER PART INQUIRY SHOWED 40,000 ON BACK ORDER BECAUSE THE FAILURE OCCURRENCE IS SO HIGH.

I AM HAVING A CYLINDER 2 MISFIRE WITH 90K MILES ON VEHICLE. VEHICLE IS CLEARLY MISSING AT IDLE WITH HEAVY SHAKING AND STRONG ODOR OF EXHAUST FUMES. I HAVE REPLACED SPARK PLUGS AND NEW IGNITION COILS WITH NO CHANGES. I HAVE ALSO REPLACED THE OIL FILTER HOUSING THAT HAD A SEVERE LEAK BEFORE THIS PROBLEM.

CHRYSLER HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THIS PROBLEM ON ALL 2011 TO 2013 VEHICLES WITH THE 3.6L ENGINE, BUT NOT MY 2014 (YET). HELP, PLEASE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAS A DEFECTIVE CYLINDER HEAD AND REQUIRES $2,000 TO $4,000 TO REPLACE.

I NOTICED SOME TYPE OF OIL LEAKING UNDER MY VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE OIL FILTER HOUSING NEEDED REPLACED. THEY SAID IT WOULD COST AROUND $1,000, BUT THAT THERE WAS NO ETA ON WHEN THEY WOULD HAVE THAT PART IN STOCK. I CALLED A SMALL AUTO MECHANIC SHOP TO SEE IF THEY COULD GIVE ME A COMPETITIVE PRICE, BUT THEY AREN'T ABLE TO FIND THE PART AVAILABLE THROUGH ANY THIRD PARTY VENDORS. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING AT THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP FOR OVER 2 WEEKS WAITING FOR THEM TO LET ME KNOW WHEN THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE. THE DIAGNOSTIC FEE IS $135 AND WILL ONLY GO TOWARDS THE PRICE OF THE REPAIRS IF THOSE HAPPEN WITHIN 30 DAYS, SO TO KEEP FROM WASTING MONEY AND HAVING MAJOR ISSUES ARISE FROM THIS LEAK I HAVEN'T PICKED UP MY VEHICLE AND WE ARE PLAYING LEAP FROG WITH MY HUSBAND'S SMALL CAR.

I BOUGHT A 2014 TOWN AND COUNTRY FROM MORAN BUICK DEALERSHIP IN SEPTEMBER 2020 BY FEBRUARY 2021 I HAD TO REPLACE COMPONENTS IN MY DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW TWICE DUE TO FAILURE AND THE WINDOW FALLING IN MY DOOR. ALSO NOTICED A HUGE OIL SPOT ON DRIVEWAY WENT TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT AND WAS TOILD MY OIL FILTER HOUSING CRACKED AND IT ON BACK ORDER OVER 4 MONTH. LOOKING ONLINE THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE. HOW CAN I FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY FAMILY IN THIS VEHICLE WITH OIL LEAKING OUT CONSTANTLY.

IT TURNS OUT THE OIL IS LEAKING FORM FILTER HOUSING (ALSO INCLUDES ENGINE OIL COOLER). ENGINE NEEDS EXPENSIVE REPAIR TO FIX DUE TO PLASTIC PARTS. PART IS NOT AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE (BACK ORDER). OIL LEAKS IS HEAVY, UNSURE IF IT MAY POSE A FIRE HAZARD.

THE OIL PUMP COOLANT LINE AND HOUSING NEEDS TO BE REPLACED - COSTING ABOUT $1K FOR PARTS AND LABOR. THE VAN ONLY HAS 115K MILES AND HAS BEEN WELL-MAINTAINED. I HEARD FROM BOTH THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND THE DEALER THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AMONG MANY OTHER VANS AND THAT THE PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER FOR 2 MONTHS (ABOUT 15K NEEDED). IT'S NOT JUST ME HAVING THIS ISSUE BUT THOUSANDS. A RECALL SHOULD BE IN EFFECT.

THE CONTACT HAD THE OIL FILTER HOUSING REPLACED. RECENTLY WHILE DRIVING 28 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROADWAY. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND PULLED TO SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO STEVENSON-HENDRICK TOYOTA JACKSONVILLE (3124 NEW BERN HWY, JACKSONVILLE, NC 28546) WHO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT A ROD WENT THRU THE ENGINE CAUSING TO FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 144,000.

HAD MY OIL CHANGED AND TUNED UP LAST MONTH ROUGHLY 3 DAYS LATER I NOTICED OIL ON MY DRIVE. BROUGHT IT TO A FRIEND AND SAT FOR 30 MIN AND A PUDDLE OF OIL SHOWED UP IN HIS GARAGE FLOOR. WE CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL AND FOUND OIL ALL OVER THE MOTOR. I TOOK IT BACK TO WHERE I HAD MY WORK DONE AND WAS TOLD THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM UNDER THE OIL FILTER HOUSING ASSEMBLY AND THERE ARE 2000 ON BACK ORDER. WHICH MAKES ME THINK THERE IS A PROBLEM YOUR AWARE OF AND HOW DO I GET IT FIXED.

I NOTICED OIL UNDER MY VEHICLE. I CRAWLED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED OIL WAS COATING ALL VISIBLE PARTS OF MOTOR. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION THE OIL FILTER HOUSING ASSEMBLY HAS DEVELOPED A CRACK IN IT. THIS IS A PLASTIC PIECE THAT IS AFFIXED TO THE ENGINE (HEAT AND PLASTIC DO NOT MIX). THIS HAS CAUSED OIL TO LEAK ONTO THE MOTOR (AT APPROXIMATELY 1 QUART PER 3000 MILES DRIVEN). THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE A FIRE IN THE ENGINE BAY AT ANY TIME.

AT 50,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION VALVE WENT OUT - CAUSING THE VAN TO STALL WHILE DRIVING. IT WAS REPLACED. AGAIN AFTER ANOTHER 50,000 MILES THIS TRANSMISSION VALVE IS GOING OUT AND THE VEHICLE IS AGAIN STALLING WHILE DRIVING.

VEHICLE HAD LEAKING PLASTIC OIL FILTER HOUSING AT 110K MILES. AFTER REVIEW ONLINE, NOTICED THIS IS A VERY COMMON DESIGN ISSUE ALL OVER THE 3.6 PENTASTAR V6. THEN AT 127K, I HAVE NOW BEEN INFORMED AFTER ENGINE STARTED TICKING WHILE DRIVING THAT TIMING CHAIN, CAMSHAFT ETC HAVE FAILED AND ENGINE MUST BE REBUILT AND OR REPLACED ENTIRELY. I HAVE OWNED MANY VEHICLES AND NEVER HAD ONE WITH AN ENGINE FAILURE AT THIS LOW MILEAGE. SMALL FIXES, OF COURSE BUT TOTAL CATASTROPHIC ENGINE PART FAILURE AT 127K? CHRYSLER SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THIS POORLY DESIGNED ENGINE. THEY KNOW THIS ENGINE HAS PROBLEMS AS THEY EXTENDED ENGINE WARRANTIES FOR 2011-2013 MODELS BUT I FEEL LIKE THEY LEAVE THEIR CUSTOMERS WITH NEWER ENGINES HIGH AND DRY. ONE MORNING BEFORE WORK WHEN I STARTED THE VAN I NOTICED THE BATTERY LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE DROVE FINE AND AFTER WORK,THE LIGHT WAS NOT ON ANYMORE. BY THE TIME THE DEALERSHIP COULD GET ME IN, THE BATTERY LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ON. THE DEALERSHIP RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND COULD FIND NO ISSUES SO I PICKED IT UP WITH NO RESOLUTION. TODAY HAS BEEN A WEEK SINCE THE DEALERSHIP LOOKED AT THE VAN, THE BATTERY LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SOLID FOR 3 DAYS NOW AND ON MY WAY TO DRIVE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING, IT COMPLETELY DIED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED THE REST OF THE WAY THERE. THE RESULT WAS A CODE P0520 WHICH INDICATES A FAULT IN THE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR/SWITCH ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT FOR A PREDETERMINED PERIOD OF TIME. MOST LIKELY SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH.

ADDED ABOUT 3 QUARTS OF OIL AND DROVE CAR 30 MILES LIGHT WENT OFF. I FOUND MULTIPLE TSBS ABOUT THE OIL FILTER HOUSING. CALLED DEALER THEY SAID YEP IT'S A ISSUSE AND PARTS 286.. DURING THE REPAIR AFTER I REMOVED THE INTAKE I WAS ABLE TO CONFIRM THAT IT APPEARED TO BE THE OIL FILTER ADAPTER HOUSING LEAKING OIL. IN FILLED THE ENGINE VALLEY WITH OIL. I REPLACED THE PART PLUS NEW INTAKE GASKETS AND THEN DRAINED ALL THE OIL AND COOLANT. HOPEFULLY THIS PART DOESN'T FAIL AGAIN AS I USED A OEM FROM DODGE CHRYSLER

THERE IS OIL ALL OVER THE THE MOTOR AND UNDERNEATH ON THE DRIVERS SIDE BUT NOT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WE HAVE READ THAT THE OIL FILTER HOUSING IS EASY TO CRACK WHEN CHANGING OIL & FILTER. I HAVE ALWAYS TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER WHERE WE BOUGHT IT NEW TO HAVE IT SERVICED. MY LAST OIL CHANGE WAS DONE 4000 MILES AGO AND WE JUST STARTED HAVING THIS OIL LEAK. SO IT CANNOT BE THAT IS WAS CRACKED OR IT WOULD HAVE BEEN LEAKING AT THE TIME OF THE LAST SERVICE. THE OIL COOLER HOUSING IS A PLASTIC PART ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND THAT IS WHERE ALL THE OIL IS LEAKING. THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED SO WE ARE EXPLORING REPAIR OPTIONS. SINCE THIS IS BECOMING A COMMON PROBLEM, A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. WE RECENTLY BOUGHT OUR SON A 2019 DODGE CHALLENGER. IT HAS THE SAME MOTOR AS OUR VAN, SO WE AREN'T LOOKING FORWARD TO ADDRESSING THIS SAME ISSUE.

IWHEN I BOUGHT MY 2014 TOWN AND COUNTRY MINI VAN IT HAD 39111 MILES ON IT I BOUGHT AND EXTENDED WARRANTY WHICH WILL NOT COVER MY ENGINE PROBLEM SINCE IT WAS COVERED AT THE TIME BY THE MANUFACTURER, WELL AS YOU CAN IMAGINE 4 MONTHS PAST THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY RAN OUT IT IS IN THE SHOP, WHICH IT NEEDS THE CAMSHAFT AND ROCKER ARMS REPLACED AND IT IS MISFIRING ON CYLINDER #6 I HAVE 94,000 MILES ON THE VAN SO THE 100,000 MILE PART THEY WILL NOT COVER FOR THEY SAY 60 MONTHS OR 100,000 MILES WHICH IS NOT RIGHT, I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE CAMSHAFTS AND ROCKER ARMS GOING BAD AND BREAKING DOWN AS WELL AS MISFIRING CYLINDERS. WHEN WILL THERE BE A RECALL ON THESE PROBLEMS. THESE VEHICLES SHOULD LAST 100'S OF THOUSANDS OF MILES IF TAKEN CARE AS I HAVE TAKEN CARE OF MINE. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN CHRYSLER AND I HONESTLY DON'T THE JOB IS BEING DONE TO INVESTIGATE THESE PROBLEMS. MY VAN IS CURRENTLY IN A SHOP WAITING TO SEE IF THE MANUFACTURER WILL HONOR THE WARRANTY SINCE IT IS ONLY FOUR MONTHS PAST THE 60 MONTHS FROM WHEN THE VAN WAS FIRST PUT INTO SERVICE BY SOMEONE ELSE BEFORE ME I BOUGHT IT USED FROM COOKS AUTO AND I THOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WOULD COVER ANY ENGINE PROBLEMS BUT I WAS WRONG THEY CLAIM THAT SINCE IT HAD A MANUFACTURER WARRANTY THEY HAD TO GIVE ME A DIFFERENT WARRANTY PLAN AND DID NOT EXPLAIN, I WAS TOLD I WAS COVERED BUMBER TO BUMBER UNTIL I HIT 99,111 PLEASE INVESTIGATE AND DO A RECALL ON THESE ENGINES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAMSHAFT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NAPLETON'S ARLINGTON HEIGHTS CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (1155 W DUNDEE RD, ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL 60004) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAMSHAFT AND TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. FOR ABOUT A YEAR THE CAR HAS BEEN GIVING ME PROBLEMS WHILE ITS BEING DRIVEN. WHEN I COME TO A STOP IT SHAKES AND HAS CUT OFF ON ME. IT WOULD RESTART WITH NO PROBLEM. I HAVE EXPERIENCED A FAILURE IN THE NUMBER TWO CYLINDER HEAD. CHRYSLER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS MOTOR FOR THIS YEAR. EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME MOTOR THAT THEY HAVE USED IN 2011 2012 AND 2013 AND DURING THOSE YEARS THEY HAVE COVERED SUCH FAILURES. THIS PROBLEM IS EVIDENT BELOW 1000 RPM. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE. MOSTLY AFTER 120,000. MILES. OUR VAN ONLY HAS 94,855 MILES. STILL UNDER THE 100,000 MILE WARRANTY BUT 10 MONTHS PAST THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY. THE DEALER & CHRYSLER SCA TOLD ME THEY WON'T FIX IT UNDER WARRANTY. THIS SHOULD BE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY SINCE WE ARE UNDER THE 100,000. MILES. THE DEALER TOLD ME IF THERE WERE ENOUGH COMPLAINTS THAT MIGHT BE ENOUGH TO START A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. THERE IS DEFINITELY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. TODAY'S ENGINES SHOULD RUN 500,000. MILES MINIMUM BEFORE HAVING TO DO MAJOR WORK TO THE ENGINE.

WHILE MY WIFE AND CHILDREN WERE MAKING A LEFT-HAND TURN IN THE FAR LEFT LANE THE VAN COMPLETELY WENT DEAD. LANDSCAPERS SAW WHAT HAPPENED AND WERE ABLE TO PUSH THE CAR INTO THE PARKING LOT. THE DASHBOARD STAYED LIT AND THE AC FAN CONTINUED TO BLOW. IT'S ALMOST AS IF THE BATTERY WAS STILL ON, BUT THEY HAD NO MECHANICAL FUNCTIONS. WE HAD THE VAN TAKEN TO TEQUESTA TIRE CO WHERE THEY DID A FULL INSPECTION. AFTER A FULL INSPECTION, THEY DETERMINED THE PROBLEM TO BE A POSSIBLE "FLUKE". AFTER ADDITIONAL RESEARCH ONLINE, THIS APPEARS TO BE A WIDER ISSUE WITH OTHER T&C OWNERS. OTHER OWNERS SAY THEY HAVE NOT FOUND THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE AND SPEND A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF MONEY WITH NO RESOLUTION OR CAUSE.

THEY REPLACED THE SENSOR SOLENOID PAC. 6 MONTHS LATER I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM A SOCCER TOURNAMENT AND THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED AGAIN HOWEVER I HAD SLOWED THE VEHICLE DOWN DRIVING THROUGH A RESIDENTIAL AREA AND WENT TO SPEED UP AFTER RE-ENTERING THE HIGHWAY. THE RPM'S WERE AT 4 TO 5 GOING 30 MPH. I PULLED OVER TURNED OFF THE CAR AND LET IT SIT FOR 5 MINUTES. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NORMALLY AFTER THAT , THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THE COULD DO. MATERIAL SELECTION OF GAS TANK FITTING AND HARD LINES RELATED TO EMISSIONS AND FUEL DELIVERY HAVE ATTRACTED RODENTS TO CHEW ON THE TANKS AND HARDLINES. THE RESULT IS THAT THE VEHICLE NO LONGER MEETS EMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS WITHOUT COSTLY REPAIRS. SPOKE TO 2 LOCAL DEALERS WHO INDICATED THEY SEE THIS ISSUE 2-3 TIMES A MONTH EACH. DAMAGE APPEARS TO MANIFEST ITSELF AS SOON AS 8/16/2016 AS THAT WAS THE FIRST INSTANCE WE HAD A VERY SMALL EVAPORATIVE LEAK CODE IN THE COMPUTER AND TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIR. MANUFACTURE SHOULD HAVE TAKEN STEPS TO PREVENT THE PARTS FROM BEING "TASTY". ANYTHING FROM CHANGING THE COMPOSITION OF THE MATERIAL TO ADDING PROTECTIVE TAPE IS BETTER THAN THROWING UP THEIR HANDS AND SAYING IT IS THE RODENTS FAULT.

ALSO THE DVD SYSTEM MY VAN IS 2 YEARS OLD THE DVD PLAYER WENT OUT AND THE COMPANY WOULD NOT FIX THE DVD PLAYER I HAD TO SPEND OVER $1,000 JUST TO GET A NEW REPLACEMENT FOR THE DVD PLAYER. THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. IF I WAS ON A POORLY LIT ROAD OR GOING AROUND A CORNER, OR AT A HIGHER SPEED, OR A LESS EXPERIENCED DRIVER, THIS COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN A FATAL ACCIDENT. THIS WAS PREVIOUSLY REPORTED TO CHRYSLER AND THYE REPORTED THE PROBLEM 'FIXED' LESS THAN 1-YEAR AGO (REPORTED TO CHRYSLER CORPORATE IN EARLY AUGUST 2017 AND SUPPOSEDLY FIXED BY A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AUGUST 11 2017). ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS OUR VAN LOST POWER WHILE WE WERE DRIVING. THE FIST INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE GOING 25-30 MPH ON A CITY ROAD. WE LOST ALL POWER, HAD NO POWER STEERING AND JUST HAD TO HIT THE BRAKES, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART IT AND CONTINUE DRIVING. THE SECOND TIME HAPPENED WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY. AFTER MAKING THE TURN THE VAN LOST POWER AND AGAIN WE HAD TO PUT IT INTO PARK, RESTART IT AND ACCELERATE AS TRAFFIC WAS COMING QUICKLY BEHIND US. WE ARE INCREDIBLY THANKFUL THAT OUR FAMILY, OUR CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR BOTH TIMES, WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT CAUSED BY OUR VAN LOSING POWER.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

ENGINE STALLS RANDOMLY, WHILE IN MOTION, HIGHWAY, CITY, COUNTRY. VEHICLE JUST STOPS RUNNING MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CONTROL STEERING, STOPPING. NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT SEVERAL TIMES, DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEHIND NEARLY CRASHING INTO OURS, AND THE VEHICLE MUST BE PULLED OFF THE ROAD WHILE ABRUPTLY DECELERATING WHICH IS DANGEROUS WHEN YOU MUST CROSS SEVERAL LANES OF TRAFFIC, AS THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE RESTARTED WHILE MOVING. VEHICLE HAS 56K MILES. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. VEHICLE MUST BE PUT INTO PARK TO RESTART REQUIRING THE VEHICLE TO BE PULLED OFF THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE OFTEN DOES NOT RESTART IMMEDIATELY. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER, THEY DUPLICATED AND VERIFIED THE STALLING ISSUE AND SUGGESTED TO REPLACE THE WIN MODULE, WHICH WE AGREED TO HAVE THEM DO, BECAUSE WE BELIEVE IT IS A EXTREMELY IMPORTANT SAFETY CONCERN. PRICE $700. IT LOOKS LIKE THERE WAS AN EARLIER RECALL FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM ON THE 2008 TO 2010 MODEL. WE FEEL THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. MANY TIMES WE HAVE CHILDREN IN THE CAR. THESE INCIDENTS CAUSE ALL PASSENGERS TO BE DISTRESSED. PROBLEMS STARTED IN DEC 2016 AND WAS INFREQUENT AT FIRST BUT BECAME VERY FREQUENT IN FEBRUARY AND MARCH. CHECKED BY A LOCAL SHOP IN FEBRUARY. THEY SUGGESTED TAKING IT TO THE DEALER.

HAS HAPPENED WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT, TURNING LEFT INTO AN INTERSECTION, AND DRIVING 35MPH STRAIGHT ON A CITY STREET. WEATHER HAS BEEN BOTH WARM AND COLD, VAN HAS BEEN WELL WARMED UP OR RECENTLY-STARTED; THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE A NOTICEABLE PATTERN. THE BEHAVIOR IS SIMILAR TO WHAT IT WOULD BE IF THE KEY FOB WAS TURNED FROM ON TO ACC -- E.G. THE RADIO IS STILL PLAYING BUT THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. ALL POWER TO BRAKES AND STEERING IS LOST; I DON'T KNOW IF THE AIRBAGS ARE STILL FUNCTIONING AT THIS POINT. IN ALL FOUR CASES, THE CAR WAS EASILY RE-STARTED BY FIRST TURNING THE KEY FOB TO OFF, THEN STARTED AGAIN. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS IT CAN OCCUR SEEMINGLY AT ANY TIME, WITHOUT NOTICE.

THE DEALER PLACED A DEVICE IN THE CAR TO TAKE A SNAPSHOT WHEN IT HAPPENS. IT HAPPENED AND THE CODES P0016. THE DEALER REPLACED CAM PHASERS-BANK 1 (REAR HEAD). THEN THE CAR WAS READY FOR PICKUP AND MY WIFE DIDN'T EVEN MAKE IT OUT OF THE PARKING LOT BEFORE STALLING AGAIN. ACCORDING TO THE REPAIR STATEMENT DATED ON JAN 18,2016, NOTHING ELSE HAD BEEN ACCOMPLISHED. THE DEALER HAD BEEN WORKING WITH STAR TECHNICIAN SUPPORT CENTER TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. MY WIFE THEN STALLED AGAIN THIS MORNING ON JAN 26, 2016. THIS MATTER IS VERY SERIOUS AND SHOULD BE HANDLED BEFORE A LIFE IS LOST DRIVING. I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A WATER PUDDLE ON A TWO LANE CITY STREET WHEN THE BACKWASH OF WATER FROM A TRUCK IN FRONT ENTERED MY ENGINE THROUGH THE AIR INTAKE DUCTING AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO LOCK UP (HYDROLOCKED) DISABLING MY CAR AND LEAVING IT INOPERABLE. THIS IMMOBILE SITUATION EXPOSED MY WIFE AND I TO A POSSIBLE COLLISION AS CARS PASSED US. I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED FROM THE SITE. LATER EVALUATION BY A LOCAL MANUFACTURER'S DEALER REVEALED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER AND NEEDED REPLACED WITH AN ESTIMATE TO REPAIR OF $9,280. I BELIEVE THIS INCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY DESIGN WHERE THE ENGINE AIR INTAKE DUCT OPENING IS TOO CLOSE TO GROUND LEVEL. THE CONSUMERS COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE COVERAGE COVERED THE DAMAGED AND ADVISED THE DEALER, TO LOCATE A USED ENGINE. AFTER THE ENGINE WAS INSTALLED, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER ON 5/16/15, THEY INDICATED THAT THERE WAS A CODE THAT INDICATED THAT THERE WAS A MISFIRE AND THAT THEY HAD CLEARED IT. I DROVE THE CAR HOME AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND THE PROBLEMS RESUMED. I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY INDICATED THAT THEY ASKED IF I WAS AWARE THAT THEY NEEDED TO "TAKE THE ENGINE A PART"? I STATED THAT THEY NEEDED TO DO WHAT WAS NECESSARY TO FIX MY VEHICLE. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE ALSO INDICATED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY BUT BECAUSE I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY I SHOULD BE COVERED. I AM UNCLEAR AS TO WHY I WOULD HAVE ENGINE PROBLEMS IN A VEHICLE AT 57K MILES, THIS SHOULD ALSO BE A POWER TRAIN ISSUE WHICH WOULD MEAN THAT MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE COVERED FOR 100K MILES. I TOOK THE VAN IN FOR A SQUEALING NOISE 20 DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE SAT THERE FOR AN HOUR AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEN THEY COME TO TELL ME THEY COULD NOT HEAR THE NOISE. THE VAN STOP MAKING THE NOISE IN OCTOBER 2014 HOWEVER IT ALMOST COST ME AND CHILDREN OUR LIVES. WE WERE DRIVING DOWN A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY WHERE WE LIVE AND THE ENGINE STALLED AND JUST QUIT LOST ALL POWER I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE ROAD THANK GOODNESS OR WE WOULD HAVE BEEN SMASHED BECAUSE IT WAS 8:00 A.M. WORK TRAFFIC. I THEN CALLED THE DEALERSHIP RIGHT AWAY AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO BRING THE VAN IN TO HAVE IT SEEN ABOUT. I TOOK THE VAN IN AND WAS CALLED A FEW DAYS LATER AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE VERY FRUSTRATING. MY VAN HAS STALLED SEVERAL MORE TIMES AFTER THAT AND HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 3 WEEKS NOW AND THEY STILL SAY THEY CANNOT FIND THE ISSUE. ALSO, I WAS IN THE PARKING LOT OF A STORE AND TURNED INTO A PARKING PLACE AND THE ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF IT TOOK SEVERAL MINUTES FOR IT TO START BACK UP. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER ON THIS MATTER AND THEY GO WITH WHAT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAYS AND IF THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE THEY TELL ME TO COME GET IT. I AM NOW GOING TO TURN THIS OVER TO THE LEMON LAW DEPARTMENT BECAUSE I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE THAT WAS PURCHASED NEW AND ONLY HAS 7,000 MILES ON IT. THE ACCELERATOR JAMMED AT FULL THROTTLE AS WE WERE MAKING A RIGHT TURN. THERE WAS NOTHING DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, BUT THE ENGINE WAS RACING AT FULL SPEED. THE LIGHT WAS RED, SO I WAS FORCED TO USED THE BRAKES TO KEEP FROM HITTING THE CAR STOPPED AT THE LIGHT IN FRONT OF US. ONLY AFTER TURNING IT OFF A SECOND TIME, COMPLETELY REMOVING THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION, WAITING FOR ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE CONTROL PANEL TO DIM, AND RESTARTING IT DID THE ACCELERATOR RETURN TO NORMAL. CHRYSLER INSISTS THAT IT WAS THE FLOOR MAT DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, BUT THERE WASN'T ANYTHING IN THE WAY OF OR JAMMING THE PEDAL AT ALL. IT WAS FREE AND CLEAR. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW FROM DEALER WITH 199 MILES ON ODOMETER AS IT WAS DELIVERED FROM ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. FIRST TIME DRIVING VEHICLE FROM DEALERSHIP TO HOME APPROX 100 MILES A LOUD CLANKING NOISE WAS HEARD AT LOW SPEEDS DURING INITIAL ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER THE NEXT DAY FOR REPAIR. THEY FOUND THAT THE ENGINE WAS MISSING MOTOR MOUNT BOLTS. IT APPEARED THEY WERE NEVER INSTALLED AT FACTORY. *JS

I HAD PARK THE VAN SO I COULD GET SOME GAS. I GOT OUT TO PAID FOR THE GAS AND SPOKE TO THE ATTENDANT FOR A FEW MINUTES. WALKING BACK TO THE VAN WHERE I LEFT IT BY THE GAS PUMP THE VAN WAS ROLLING INTO A 2004 FORD EXPLORER. I COULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT HAD HAPPEN. WELL OF COURSE I CALL LOCAL POLICE AND I GOT A TICKET AND I WASN'T IN THE VAN. THIS WAS A RENTER VAN, WENT THE NEXT DAY TOLD THEM WHAT HAD HAPPEN. THE AGENT INFORMED ME THAT IT WOULD BE TAKING IN FOR SERVICE. WELL HERE IT IS MIDDLE OF OCT. AND HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT WHY THE VAN ROLL BY ITSELF.
