2014 Chrysler Town and Country: While in motion, headrest and back of seat sounded like they "exploded". Headrest had broken and snapped forward thrusting head downward towards steering wheel. Back of seat lunged forward at the same time. Now air bag light is on in vehicle. This caused headache, neck pain, back pain, and pain sensitivity to hearing.
Headrest on driver side exploded on 10/12/2024. I was reclining in the seat when it happened. Forced my head forward.
No check engine warning, unpredictable no start, no crank. Physical well being of grandchild, others and self at risk due to high temperatures. This also puts stress on mental well being, how to fix, can I fix, the cost and constant worry of being stranded. Have not confirmed with dealer. Did have a shop review. Battery, alternator good, starter is new. Issue is sporadic and hard to duplicate, but happening daily. Research on internet shows this is common occurrence without a definitive solution. Who has to have a breakdown, not just mechanically speaking to find a solutuon?
I was driving down the road and when rpms were between 1 and 2 and I applied brakes my van stalled out at the lights. My battery is new so I know it's not that. There is a large number of people that are saying there is a safety concern. I am scared to drive it in case it happens again. It was on a busy road in front of a mall. [XXX] . Please look into the number of people reporting this same issue. Also when slowing down the vehicle starts to stall like its going to die. Then I had to put myself into park and restart the vehicle and it ran fine again. I was able to get home. I have a check engine light that is related to some kind of pressure system according to o reillys auto store scanner. The safety of mysef and my child and others behind and around me put me at risk and it looks like it is a serious problem that isn't easily diagnosed. I just spend 2000 on different repairs and I explained this issue. It wasn't fixed. On that thread they are saying it could be a ecg valve gone bad. If that's the case it should be a recall. bought the car new in 2014. after approximately a year, the passenger rear sliding door began to close randomly after opening, on several occasions pinning the passenger who was entering or leaving the vehicle between the door and the frame. the car was under warranty so i had it "repaired" at the dealer. after several months, the same random closings began to occur but less frequently. Most recently, the same door could not be locked leaving the car open to burglary. The dealer says its the door latch that needs replacing and is charging me $1,600 to "fix" it. Are these doors being investigated by your agency?
Dear evaporator coil going out. This is a very common issue on these vehicles and needs to be addressed.
The passenger sliding door locked is stuck locked and the door will not open.
The front head restrains deployed without any impact. One month apart from each other.
When vehicle is exposed to consistent sunlight and heat during the spring/summer months, the driver's side power sliding door will not latch properly, causing the door to repeatedly try to latch itself shut. This occurs when opening/closing the door, and also while the vehicle is in motion. For example, if the door is shut properly, and the vehicle goes over a bump or something disrupts the ride, the door will think it is open, the warning light comes on the dashboard, the interior lights activate and the electric latch motor will repeatedly activate until the van thinks the door is closed. Even when parked, I have returned to the vehicle to find the door trying to close itself
The contact owned a 2014 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle five minutes later, it caught fire. The contact's daughter opened the driver's side door and noticed flames emerging from the door panel. There were no reported injuries. The fire department was called to extinguish the fire. A police report was not filed. There was no air bag deployment. The contact stated that the siding of the house had melted due to the fire. The vehicle was towed to a salvaged yard. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The contact mentioned that the failure may be related to NHTSA Action Number: PE20012 (Electrical System). The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.

1.) my tire pressure warning light remains on and unable to detect if tires are actually low or not. It remains on even when tire pressure is at correct level. I got it checked by mechanic and he agreed that something is wrong with the sensor/system. 2.) both of my side mirror sensors will not turn off. I was driving and they were off (were previously working as normal), but then I went to get into another lane and someone was in my blind spot and I nearly hit them. Now they stay on and aren’t able to be utilized or trusted. There was no prior warning to any of these issues and now my vehicle feels extremely unsafe as I cannot use the safety features nor trust the tire pressure indicator.
Before I started the car I tried to open the passenger sliding door but the door would not open with key fob, manually or interior dash button. (Only makes a clicking noise ). Then after driving 5-10 minutes the door opens on its own while driving. Kids and new born in car. Items fell out of car while driving. Interior light came on and my eldest was able to close the door. Very dangerous and distressing!
I drive for Lyft and Uber and have had this vehicle spontaneously shut down while I am driving. I have had three places check it and it is NOT the starter, battery, or alternator. I have replaced the ECU and other items and the mechanics cannot tell me what's wrong. Furthermore, there are NO codes that show on the vehicle. The vehicle on the way to the mechanic shut down in traffic and as per usual, started back up and the traction control light came on. When the mechanic disconnected the positive cable on the battery to check the alternator, battery, and starter the code disappeared and the car drove fine on the way home. I have lost a lot of wages due to this issue and now I am afraid to drive the car. I have seen on several forums that this was an issue in the 2011 recall and now it is happening yet again. My car is a 2014 and others are both older and younger, all suffering from this same very scary detail. I hope I am not injured, nor anyone else will be injured, due to this issue. Mechanics are stumped with the problem. I have contacted an attorney and my next step is to call Chrysler but I do not expect them to address this issue unless or until many people die, are injured and then they get sued. Please let me know what, if anything, else I should do. I am putting you on notice of the issue and it's being widespread. In order to make sure I cover all my bases, this issue has happened now about 4x a week, it is not predictable, nor is it consistent with how fast or how slow I may be driving. I have had plenty of gas in the engine.
The driver side sliding door is not latching fully. The door will be shut and the indicator in blinking, the lights are going inside the car and the door is repeatedly trying to latch. The consumer stated that they brought the car to a certified Chrysler dealer to inquire about repairing the sliding door latch. At this time, the consumer is expected to cover the full cost of the repair.
I bought my 2014 Chrysler Town and Country not even a year ago and this is the second transmission that has went out on my van. I’m now in the process of fighting with the warranty company to get it replaced if possible. There’s no reason for this. The first time it went out was a month after I purchased it June 2022. Second time May 2023 (still in shop waiting).
I was sitting in my 2014 Town and Country and my active headrest restraint randomly activated hitting me in the back of the head. I was parked with one passenger in the vehicle. It hurt my neck as it shot my head forward.
Passenger sliding door lock is stuck in the unlocked position. I cannot manually or electronically lock the door. This poses a safety risk to my young children and myself.
The lock on right sliding door is in a locked position and you can not open the door. The electronic lock actuator failed and the manual lock lever is stuck in locked position. It's seems to be a Chrysler town and country and dodge caravan failure. It imposes a safty issue in case of a fire or accident.
Engine has begun to stall in the highway for unknown reason. Repair shops can’t find anything wrong. Spoke with other Chrysler town and country owners and they are experiencing the same issue.
Sliding door has been not wanting to shut all the way. It will shut and then pop back open again.you can hear the door trying to shut but then it opens again. We have pretty much stopped using that door to go in and out. It is the passenger side. The other night we got on the freeway and you could hear that the door must not have been shut all the way, although no indicator light saying the door was open nor any interior lights where on. Before I could safely get off again and pull over the door suddenly started engaging and you could here it mechanically moving to lock, the interior of the van lit up and my dashboard indicator came on saying the door was not closed. It did safely close at that point.
The passenger sliding door has been buzzing. Also, both sliding doors randomly act like they want to open while driving. You can hear them moving and the lights turn on and off indicating door ajar and closed. This is a safety hazard for my children in the backseat as I am not sure if these doors will start automatically opening if something happens to the lock
The passenger side sliding door has issues locking and unlocking. The actuator buzzes whenever the car locks or unlocks, even after a replacement part installed. When automatically closing the door, it often gets “stuck” trying to close and you can hear the door/lock motor repeatedly trying to pull the door closed and lock it even though the door is in the closed position. It will do this until the battery drains if not dealt with. To stop it, I have to manually open the door and slam it closed. Oftentimes the door is just stuck and will not open when in this stuck mode, which is the major safety concern. This has been happening for over a year now. It is especially worse in the heat, but happens all year. These doors are also frozen shut in the winter and the family has to enter the vehicle through the front driver or passenger doors.
Passenger side door will not always close electronically. It keeps trying to close and cycle. Dash shows its open and comes on sometimes when you hit a bump. A chatline i got on has dozens of complaints.
Both back doors will not shut properly. Left side no longer locks. SAFTY ISSUE. While driving the car the right back door will randomly start making a sound like it is trying to latch, but can’t. The interior lights will begin to come on and off. Warning lights will begin to flash with a message that reads door is opened on the dashboard message system. Looked up mechanical issue with 2014 back doors not staying closed and read hundreds of people with the same issue!!!! The problem has now started on the left side as well but never at the same time as the right side. RECALL
The rear passenger sliding door keeps trying to actuate close, making it pop in and out. The door doesn't latch very well and has opened while driving. I try not to use it...
Win module is going out engine cuts out without notice when driving. There have been recalls for this part in older models but issues look to have continued into newer models
On several occasions, I was driving, and my van turned off. I revived no warning and no check engine light. I was able to put on my emergency signal and pull over. It took several tries to turn back on. It was scary and I feel unsafe driving my van with children now.
Win module. Engine cuts off while driving no warning. Almost caused vehicle crash loss of power steering and total engine power
Passenger side door cannot be opened via electronic open or manually. Chrysler says this is not covered under warranty to fix.
Oil filter cooler housing unit is leaking at under 150,000 miles. The leaking oil is pooling and is an extreme fire hazard. After my mechanic informed me that this was common in my vehicle it came to my attention that this has been a known issue which Chrysler has refused to take responsibility for.
Front power windows have fallen into the door three times now (driver side 2, passive 1). Each time it required replacement of the window regulator and cable. I can't imagine this happening on the highway -- would scare the bejesus out of somebody when there's a loud bang and the window just drops into the door. Plus, it's a security issue since you have an open window that can't close until you get the repair. Internet searches show this to be a common issue.
Headrest safety system deployed while car was parked. Plastic bracket holding release pin broke, casing system to deploy.
The driver's side sliding passenger door doesn't properly latch in hot weather. Instead of latching, the automatic mechanism continually tries to latch without success. Sometimes driving down the road, the door motor will continue to try to latch the door. Sometimes it will set off the alarm. The door simply will NOT latch in hot weather unless pressure is applied to the back end of the door (nearest the rear driver's side tire) in conjunction with the sound of the actuator trying to latch the door.
The passenger sliding door will not latch and just clicks over and over again. After reading to try to solve the problem I found hundreds of people with the same problem.
The driver head rest deployed while I was driving. It hit the back of my head very hard, causing my neck to hurt and I had a headache for 2 days. I did not go to the Dr. because it wasn't severe. However, I do have this on video because we have a dash cam in our van at all times. I found out these were defective, called the FCA and they told me I could go to any Chrysler dealer and I could get it replaced under warranty. So this is what I have done, but its on back order. Also, I wanted them to replace the other side since this could happen again, but they said they could not, unless it deployed. That's unacceptable if you ask me....its a safety issue for sure. This will happen again, just don't know when. Is there anything I can do about this? Thank you so much. FCA has been contacted and warranty number [XXX] and case [XXX] was given. Consumer has headache for couple of days, her neck hurt as well as in between her shoulder blades. Dealer was contacted on July 5th and head rest is backordered, dealer will install once it comes in. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).”
NHTSA has an open Investigation: PE 20-012. In this investigation, "Complainants allege a fire started at the charge hub mounted in the trim panel located on the driver's side of the vehicle between the second and third row seating." My 2014 Town and Country has an issue where the motor and/or latching mechanism overheats and the door starts to open and close on its own. This event only happens during the extreme heat of the summer (such as 90 degrees and above). The local dealership recommended replacing all of the mechanisms in the door. However, they have no idea why the air temperature impacts the door. Regardless, the door is subject to overheating. These mechanisms are located in the same part of the care where the fire investigation is occurring.
The drivers side passenger electric side door won’t open. The door is permanently locked it normally opens with a electric motor that does it at the push of a button. None of the 4 ways to open the door with the electric motor works. The door also doesn’t open manually from inside or outside the door. The vehicle hasn’t been fixed or looked at it just stopped working. The was a unusual noise about a week before when the door would latch shut as soon as it closed. The door no longer functions as a way out of the van. This is a hazard in case passengers need to get out of the van in a emergency.
When attempting to close the rear sliding doors, they attempt to latch and then fail. If it's hot out the motor will randomly go off and randomly operate. The harness and motors have been replaced and yet it continues.
VAN SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AT DIFFERENT TIMES WITH NO PATTERN. NO INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNINGS SHOWN. ALSO WILL STALL AT TIMES WHILE IDLING.

THE SLIDING DOOR ON THE DRIVER'S SLIDE DOES NOT FULLY CLOSE. IT LEAVES A GAP AT THE REAR OF THE DOOR. I HAVE TO MANUALLY PUSH THE DOOR TO GET IT TO LATCH. I HAVE STARTED DRIVING NOT REALIZING THE DOOR IS NOT FULLY CLOSED. IN ONLINE FORUMS I HEAR THAT MANY OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE/MODEL CAR.
Mileage: 110,000
REAR PASSENGER DOOR WILL OPEN AND CLOSE NORMALLY BUT WHEN IT GETS HOT OUTSIDE THE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH WHEN IT CLOSES. DOOR SOUNDS LIKE IT IS CONSTANTLY TRYING TO LATCH SHUT. THIS WILL ALSO START HAPPENING IF THE VEHICLE GOES OVER A BUMP WHILE DRIVING AND THE LIGHTS GO ON THAT THE DOOR IS OPEN. THE DOOR IS TRYING TO OPEN AND CLOSE WHILE DRIVING

I'VE LISTED A DATE BELOW I DON'T RECALL THE EXACT DATE, DON'T RECALL THE EXACT MILEAGE, OR THE EXACT SPEED EVERYTHING LISTED HEREIN IS APPROXIMATE, IF IT HAD HAPPENED ALL DAY EVERYDAY THEN I COULD'VE REMEMBERED, BUT THE FOLLOWING HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS BOTH IN WINTER AND IN SUMMER. 1. VEHICLE HAS STOPPED ON ME WHILE DRIVING MULTIPLE TIMES, DOESN'T OTHERWISE SEEM TO DRIVE ROUGH, IT HAS ALSO STALLED ON ME WHILE DRIVING AND I MAKE "Y" TURNS OR AM DRIVING AND STOP AT A STOP SIGN. I PUT THE VAN BACK IN PARK, AND IT WILL START BACK UP. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN WHILE THE CAR IS IN PARK. SOMETIMES THERE IS A BURNING SMELL THAT IS SIMILAR TO THE SMELL OF AN AIRPLANE. 2. TICKING NOISE WHEN I START AND CONTINUES WHILE I'M DRIVING AND INCREASES AS I ACCELERATE. 3. HEAT AND A/C WILL TURN ON, ON ITS OWN, TURNS ON THE REAR FIRST, AND THEN THE FRONT SEATS AFTER, I CAN TURN IT OFF AND IT WILL REPEAT THE PROCESS (I'VE ACTUALLY RECORDED IT HAPPENING). 4. LEFT PASSENGER DOOR CLOSES ON ITS OWN, WON'T STAY OPEN, CLICKING NOISE EVEN IF IT'S CLOSED. 5. INTERIOR LIGHTS AND RADIO WILL FLICKER AND GO DIM THEN BRIGHT (AS IF SWITCHING FROM NIGHT TO DAYTIME THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE TIME I'M DRIVING FREQUENTLY HAPPENS).
Mileage: 85,000
WILL NOT CRANK OR TURNOVER. WORKED FINE 9:00 PM NIGHT BEFORE. NEXT MORNING IT WILL NOT START.

MY HEADREST DEPLOYED VERY SUDDENLY WHILE I WAS DRIVING GOING ABOUT 40 MILES AN HOUR AND FOR NO REASON...MY CAR WASN'T HIT AND I DIDN'T EVEN HIT A BUMP. IT SOUNDED LIKE AN EXPLOSION AND THE HEADREST HIT THE BACK OF MY HEAD SO HARD MY CHIN HIT MY CHEST. I'M VERY LUCKY I WAS NOT KNOCKED OUT AND DIDN'T CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.*DT CONSUMER STATED SHE SOUGHT MEDICAL ATTENTION BUT STILL HAS DISCOMFORT ON HER NECK.*JB

WHEN I WAS DRIVING SUDDENLY MY VAN TURN OFF
ON MARCH 12, 2019 MY VAN BURST INTO FLAMES WHILE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE VAN WAS A TOTAL LOSS AND MY VW WHICH WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF THE VAN WAS DEEMED TO BE A TOTAL LOSS BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THERE WAS ALSO EXTENSIVE DAMAGE DONE TO THE FRONT WALL OF MY HOME AND LANDSCAPING. THE VAN HAD BEEN DRIVEN LOCALLY APPROXIMATELY THREE HOURS PRIOR TO THE FIRE.*DT*JB

VAN TURNED OFF AND WOULD CRANK BUT NOT START. HAPPENED AT RANDOM TIMES UNTIL IT WOULD NOT START AT ALL. WAS TOWED FOR REPAIR, WE HAD TO REPLACE THE TIPM. NOW ONLY A COUPLE WEEKS LATER THE VAN, AGAIN, WILL ONLY CRANK BUT NOT START. *TR

BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER HEADRESTS HAVE DEPLOYED AND WILL NOT RESET DUE TO BROKEN PARTS IN THE HEADRESTS. THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADRESTS DEPLOYED FIRST, AND RECENTLY THE DRIVER SIDE ALSO DEPLOYED. WE HAD TRIED TO RESET THEM BUT THEY WON'T STAY LATCHED AND CLOSED. IT APPEARS THAT THE BROKEN PART IS THE SAME PIECE ON BOTH HEADRESTS. I'VE ATTACHED PHOTOS OF EACH. BOTH INCIDENCES OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLE WITH NO OCCUPANTS. WE HAVE NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT IN THIS VEHICLE. *TR
Mileage: 91,100
POWER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE. I HAVE HAD NOT ONE, BUT TWO POWER WINDOW REGULATORS FAIL WHILE ROLLING THE WINDOWS UP. THE REGULATORS SHATTERED INSIDE MY DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONT DOORS ON SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THIS CAUSED THE WINDOWS TO FALL INTO THE DOORS. I'M TOLD I'M LUCKY THE WINDOWS DIDN'T SHATTER. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE WHILE DRIVING AND THE WINDOW SUDDENLY FALLS DOWN, AND AN OBVIOUS SECURITY ISSUE IF YOUR VEHICLE HAS NO WINDOW.

THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO COME TO A STOP AND THE ENGINE STALLED OUT LOST ALL POWER.

I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TOMORROW TO BRING THE CAR IN HOWEVER THIS IS A SERIOUS SITUATION. NO WARNING! NO NOTHING! NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. LET ME JUST TELL YOU A LITTLE MORE ABOUT THIS POS? I BOUGHT IT WITH 30K MILES ON IT. I ONLY HAD IT FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AND HAD TO HAVE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION REBUILT WHICH STILL TO THIS DAY SHIFTS HARD AND FEELS LIKE ITS GOING TO LITERALLY FALL OUT OF THE CAR. AFTER THAT IS WAS A TIRE SENSOR, THEN BOTH SEATS IN THE SECOND ROW WONT WORK AND THEY WANT $1200 TO FIX A CABLE! I FOLDED THEM INTO THE FLOOR MAYBE 4 TIMES AS WE USE THEM WHEN GOING ON VACATION! THE SLIDING DOORS ACT UP LIKE THEY ARE HAVING A SEIZURE! THE PIECES ALL AROUND THE CAR ARE BROKEN. THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WILL RANDOMLY ILLUMINATE AND DING AS IF THE AIRBAG HAS FAILED. THIS HAPPENS AT RANDOM AND UNDER NO SPECIFIC CIRCUMSTANCES WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD. THIS CONCERNS ME FOR THE FACT I FEAR THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURS.

THE VAN WAS PURCHASED IN 2017. THE JERKING/SHUTTERING OF THE VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING OR HAULING ON GAS WAS THE FIRST SIGN OF DYSFUNCTION OF THE VEHICLE. THE SECOND SIGN OF FAILURE IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF CHRYSLER WAS THE HEAD RESTRAINT OF THE DRIVERS SEAT AND THEN WEEKS LATTER THE PASSENGER SEAT POPPED UP, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND NOT IN MOTION AND DEPLOYED OUT OF PLACE WITHOUT IMPACT OF ANY ACCIDENT OR ETC. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, BUT EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THE OIL LEAKS THAT THIS VEHICLE TO THIS DAY HAVE STARTED SINCE SEPTEMBER OF 2019. WE HAVE GONE MORE THAN 3 TIMES TO DIFFERENT OIL CHANGES AND COMPANYS AND THEY KEEP INSISTING IT'S A CHRYSLER RECALL ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL. WHEN WE NOTICED THIS HUGE OIL SPILL, IS WHEN IT'S PARKED AND WE ARE READY TO GO TO OUR NEXT DESTINATION AND A POOL OF OIL SHOWS OUT! WE ARE AFRAID TO TRAVEL FAR AND/OR HAVE COMPLICATIONS LATTER. WE CAN'T EVEN ENJOY THIS VEHICLE AND GO SEE MY BROTHERS WHO ARE OFF IN COLLEGE BECAUSE THIS IS THE ONLY TRANSPORTATION VEHICLE THAT ALL 3 OF US IN THIS HOUSEHOLD CAN FIT COMFORTABLE AND BRING GOODS TO THEM WHEN IN NEED. WE DID NOT PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE TO HAVE A MEDIOCRE PRODUCT AND RESULT. WE ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE VEHICLE AND WISH AND PRAY TO FINALLY HAVE A SOLUTION AND GOOD RESULT THIS TIME AROUND WITH FILING THIS COMPLAINT THROUGH NHTSA. IF THIS PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED SOON, WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GO TO DALLAS AND SPEND CHRISTMAS WITH MY YOUNGER BROTHERS AT THE END OF THE MONTH. PLEASE, PLEASE, I BEG OF YOU ACT AND GIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT WE NEED!
THE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT ON THE DRIVERS SEAT HAS DEPLOYED WITHOUT THE VEHICLE BEING IN ANY TYPE OF ACCIDENT.

MY ENGINE HAS SPRUNG A MAJOR OIL LEAK UNDERNEATH THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. I'VE SEEN HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. IT APPEARS THAT CHRYSLER PUT A PLASTIC COOLANT TO OIL OIL COOLER UNDER THE MANIFOLD THAT IS FAILING. IN MY OPINION THE IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD, COULD CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, COULD CAUSE SUDDEN BREAKDOWNS. AS WIDE SPREAD OF A PROBLEM THIS IS I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THERES NOT A RECALL ON IT. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SEARCH TOWN COUNTRY OIL COOLER AND YOU'LL SEE. WE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN WE NOTICED THE OIL BURNING SMELL. LIFTED THE HOOD AND THE OIL WAS ALREADY OVER 2 QUARTS LOW.

THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON OUR TOWN AND COUNTRY COMES ON FROM TIME FROM TO TIME, BUT SEEMS TO GO OFF AFTER DRIVING THE VAN FOR A WHILE. EVERY TIME WE HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP, THE LIGHT WILL BE ON BUT BY THE TIME WE GET TO THE DEALERSHIP 30 MILES AWAY THE LIGHT IS OFF. WITH THE LIGHT OFF THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT DIAGNOSE THAT PROBLEM. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN THE CASE THE AIR BAGS ARE EVER DEPLOYED. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS.

FOR ABOUT A YEAR THE CAR HAS BEEN GIVING ME PROBLEMS WHILE ITS BEING DRIVEN. WHEN I COME TO A STOP IT SHAKES AND HAS CUT OFF ON ME. IT WOULD RESTART WITH NO PROBLEM. THEN IT STOPPED GIVING ME PROBLEMS FOR A LITTLE WHILE. THEN LAST THURSDAY, I GOT OFF AT AN EXIT FROM THE HIGHWAY AND WHEN I BRAKED BEHIND A CAR AT THE LIGHT, IT STOPPED A LITTLE ROUGH. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE TO MOVE UP A BIT AND THE CAR STARTED GOING BACKWARDS REAL SLOW WHILE IT WAS STILL IN DRIVE. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURN IT OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS AND RESTART AND IT TOOK ME TO MY DESTINATION. I'M TERRIFIED TO DRIVE IT WITH MY GRANDCHILDREN BUT NEED MY VEHICLE. IT AMAZES ME ABOUT THE COMPLAINTS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THE PROBLEM. I PRAY THAT SOMETHING TRAGIC DOESN'T HAPPEN. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR CHECKED REPEATEDLY AND THEY CAN FIND NOTHING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOESN'T COME ON.

CAR STALLS FOR NO APPARENT REASON. 1 OR 2 TIMES A WEEK. TYPICALLY WHEN GOING SLOW SPEEDS OR COMING TO A STOP. NO ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. ONLY THE TRACTION LIGHT WHICH IS NOT APPLICABLE. AS IT IS DRY AND SUNNY. SOME ELECTRICAL WORKS OFF AND AN. FRONT LED PANEL SLIGHTLY FADES IN AN OUT. FAN MOTOR (LIKE A/C FAN) GOES HIGH AND LOW SPEEDS. MAINLY THE ENGINE JUST SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING, SO IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I USED REGULAR KEY INSTEAD OF KEY FOB AND PUSH BOTTOM AND STILL DOES IT. TOOK IT IN TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME $850 FOR A NEW ALTERNATOR BUT THEY SAID "TRY THAT FIRST", SO THEY WERE NOT SURE. TOOK IT IN SOMEWHERE ELSE AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. NEEDED A LIGHT TO COME ON FIRST. MEANWHILE I'M DRIVING A CAR THAT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE CHRYSLER.

IN OCTOBER THE FLEX PLATE CRACKED, REPAIRED. IT CRACKED AGAIN IN DECEMBER, REPAIRED. THEN CRACKED AGAIN IN FEBRUARY, REPAIRED AND TOLD THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD CAUSING FLEX PLATE TO CRACK. CRACKED AGAIN THIS MONTH THEY ARE NOW ARE STATING IT IS THE ENGINE. THIS IS A DANGEROUS VEHICLE FOR A FAMILY. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT IT OVER 35 DAYS IN 8 MONTHS. CHRYSLER DOES NOT WANT TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES. IT HAD LESS THAN 100, 000 MILES ON IT.

I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH ON A MAIN ROADWAY IN OHIO WHILE ON VACATION. SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE WENT COMPLETELY DEAD AND STALLED. ALL DISPLAYS WENT BLACK. I HAD NO STEERING AND LIMITED BRAKING ABILITY. I WAS ABLE TO LEAVE THE ROADWAY SAFELY. THEN, I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, AND DRIVE BACK TO OUR VACATION HOME WITHOUT ISSUE.

ALSO AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOYED ON ANY ACCIDENT, WE HAVE HAD TWO WHERE WE WERE STRUCK FROM BEHIND AND AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY. CHRYSLER IS FORCING OWNERS TO FIX THIS ISSUE INSTEAD OF DOING A RECALL OR INVESTIGATION. I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN VEHICLE KNOWING THE AIRBAG IS MALFUNCTIONING.

DRIVING AT 30 MPH OR SLOWER,THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF AND THE COMPUTER RESETS IT'SELF. THE GAS MILEAGE GOES FROM 21 TO 22 MPG BACK TO FACTORY 18 MPG AND YOU HAVE NO POWER STEERING AND NO POWER BRAKES. IT COULD CAUSE ME TO WRECK FOR THE LAST TIME I WAS IN DOWN TOWN LISBON, OHIO MAKING A LEFT TURN WHEN IT JUST SHUT OFF AND LOST POWER. YOU PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND IT WILL START RIGHT UP BUT IT'S HARD TO DO WHILE TURNING AND NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES.

VAN WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. MY PASSENGER WINDOW MALFUNCTIONED WHEN ROLLING DOWN. IT MADE A LOUD NOISE AND THEN FELL RAPIDLY DOWN INTO THE DOOR FRAME. I HEARD IT BREAKING AS IT FELL DOWN AT RAPID SPEED INSIDE OF THE DOOR.

WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND COMING TO A STOP LIGHT OR SIGN. IT STARTS TO JERK AND SHUDDER. SOMETIMES STALLING AND IT NEEDS TO BE PUT INTO PARK RESTARTED AND SOMETIMES IT WILL IMMEDIATELY DIE AGAIN. NO CODES ARE THROWN AND ALL MECHANICS AND CHRYSLER DEALERS ARE STUMPED AS TO WHAT'S CAUSING IT.
VEHICLE DASHBOARD DISPLAYED SERVICE BLIND SPOT DETECTOR WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH. AFTER A FEW MORE MILES, LOST POWER TO THE ENTIRE DISPLAY AND INTERIOR LIGHTS. THE SPEEDOMETER, FUEL GAUGE, TEMP GAUGES FLAT LINED. A FEW SECONDS LATER THE DISPLAY CAME BACK ON WITH ALL THE FAULT LIGHTS ON: ENGINE LIGHT, TIRE PRESSURE, BRAKE LIGHT, ETC. SERVICE CENTER DETAILED THE PROBLEM WAS A CORRODED BLIND SPOT SENSOR THAT CAUSED A BUS FAILURE AND SHORTED OUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. AFTER DOING SEVERAL SEARCHES ONLINE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE BLIND SPOT DETECTORS BECOMING CORRODED AND NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS TO LOSE POWER WHILE TRAVELLING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. VIDEO FROM YOUTUBE OF REPAIR AND PART CORROSION: HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=BZ4AAZC5FSW

TWICE, AS THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN MOTION, THE ENGINE HAS STOPPED AND THE ABILITY TO STEER IS GONE. THE RADIO HAS STAYED ON. BOTH INSTANCES HAVE HAPPENED AT 25MPH OR LESS, THANKFULLY!

REAR AC EVAPORATOR MADE OUT OF ALUMINUM AND EXPOSED TO ELEMENTS BY PLACEMENT HAS CORRODED AND THERE IS NOW A LEAK. THIS SEEMS TO BE A REOCCURRING PROBLEM IN THIS VEHICLE, YET STILL MADE YEAR AFTER YEAR THE SAME WAY. THIS IS ALSO A COSTLY REPAIR, COSTING BETWEEN $1500 - $2000 BECAUSE THE FRAME NEEDS TO BE REMOVED TO REPAIR IN MOST CASES. NOT TO MENTION THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS THIS IS HAVING ON THE ATMOSPHERE BY LEAKING THESE CHEMICALS. (THERE IS A LOT OF RESEARCH BEHIND THIS). MY VEHICLE, NOW ONLY 3 YEARS OLD IS USELESS BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY CONCERN OF ALLOWING MY CHILDREN TO RIDE IN A CAR DURING 90 DEGREE WEATHER WITHOUT ANY COOL AIR. IT IS A HOT BOX INSIDE. EVEN WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN, YOU CAN NOT RIDE IN THE CAR FOR MORE THAN 20 MINUTES AT A TIME WITHOUT BEING SEVERELY OVERHEATED.
Mileage: 85,000
BLIND SPOT SENSORS ON BOTH SIDES ARE NOT WORKING. I HAVE NOT HEARD OF ANY RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM. I'VE HAD THEM IN FOR SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES. PASSENGER SIDE SENSOR WAS REPLACED ONCE AND DRIVERS SIDE TWICE BUT PROBLEMS KEEP REOCCURING. INDICATOR ON DASH READS SERVICE BLIND SPOT SENSOR.

DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR MOTOR BEGINS TO OPERATE ON ITS OWN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS ON OR OFF. THE VEHICLE HAS NOW BEEN AT A DEALER 3 TIMES FOR REPAIR WITHOUT ANY SUCCESS. THIS TIME IT ALSO HAS CAUSED COMPLETE FAILURE OF SEVERAL BATTERY CELLS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE HAZARDOUS TO DRIVING AS THE VEHICLE DOES STILL START AND DRIVE, HOWEVER, THERE ARE TIMES IT DOES SHUT OFF DUE TOT HE BATTERY ISSUE.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. IT WAS A VERY HOT DAY, BUT WE HAD JUST HAD A RAINSTORM. THERE WERE NO CARS AROUND ME ON THE ROAD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN A HEARD LOUD BOOM. I CHECKED MY WINDOWS NOTHING AROUND ME. I LOOKED UP AND OPENED THE SUNROOF COVER, AND SAW MY SUNROOF WAS SHATTERED INTO TINY PIECES WITH A LARGE HOLE IN THE TOP. I IMMEDIATELY CLOSED THE COVER SO THAT THE GLASS DIDN'T FALL IN MY CAR ONTO MY CHILDREN.

OUR VAN WAS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY WITH OUR KIDS INSIDE. WHEN MY WIFE OPENED THE DRIVER'S DOOR IT BEGAN TO ROLL DOWN THE DRIVEWAY, DRAGGING MY WIFE AND WITH OUR TWO SMALL CHILDREN IN THE VAN. THE VAN WENT ACROSS THE STREET STRIKING A NEIGHBORS AC UNIT. MY WIFE SUFFERED A BROKEN ARM, SPRAINED ANKLE, AND A GASH ON HER CHIN. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED FOR THE INCIDENT. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A MECHANICAL FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE VIBRATES EXCESSIVELY WHEN DRIVEN. THE SEATS ALL MOVE VIOLENTLY. CAR DEALERS HAVE BALANCED THE TIRES TO NO AVAIL. THE TIRES WEAR OUT UNEVENLY, CUPPING BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. WE JUST HAD NEW TIRES INSTALLED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, ACCORDING TO THE DEALER THAT WAS THE FIX BUT THE CAR IS STILL VIBRATING. THE DEALER LOOKED AT THE CAR AGAIN AND SUGGESTED WE ROTATE TIRES THAT WERE JUST INSTALLED 60 DAYS AGO. THE TIRES ARE AGAIN WEARING UNEVENLY. WE NEED ASSISTANCE IN HAVING THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED ONCE AND FOR ALL. THE CAR HAS 1 YEAR OR 12,000 MILES LEFT ON ITS WARRANTY. I'VE LOST HOPE THAT THE DEALER WILL BE ABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY THE BOLTS THAT HOLD HOOD LATCH IN PLACE BECAME LOOSE AND THE HOOD LIFTED WHILE IN MOTION. VEHICLE WAS GOING AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 70MPH. THE HOOD HIT THE WINDSHIELD WITH A STRONG FORCE AND INSTANTLY SHATTERED THE FRONT WINDSHIELD.

THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM TPMS IS NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY, THE SYSTEM DOES NOT DETECT A LOW PRESSURE OR ZERO PSI EVENT OR WHEEL REMOVAL FOR ALL FOUR TIRES WHILE STATIONARY OR MOVING. THE SYSTEM CONSTANTLY REPORTS ALL TIRE PRESSURES ARE OK AND WITHOUT ANY FAULTS. CHRYSLER HAS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE "NHTSA CAMPAIGN: 14V632000, TPMS LEFT IN TEST MODE" BUT FOR UNKNOWN REASONS MY VIN DOES NOT QUALIFY EVEN THOUGH VEHICLE IS WITHIN RECALL MFG DATE OF APRIL 2014. I HAVE POSTED A VIDEO DOCUMENTING THE MALFUNCTIONING/DISABLED TPMS SYSTEM AT HTTPS://YOUTU.BE/XD08EOIWNTU

THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE WHEN THE DRIVER ENTERED THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER PRESSED THE IGNITION BUTTON TO TURN THE VEHICLE, KEEPING HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE. AS THE VEHICLE STARTED, THE WIPERS CAME ON AT HIGH SPEED WITHOUT HAVING BEEN TURNED ON AT THE TIME OR PREVIOUSLY. AT THE SAME TIME, THE ENGINE REVVED AND BEGAN TO ACCELERATE IN REVERSE DESPITE BEING IN PARK WITH THE DRIVER'S FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE DRIVER'S DOOR WAS OPEN AND CRASHED AGAINST THE SIDE OF THE GARAGE DOOR, EJECTING THE DRIVER WHO HAD NOT EVEN HAD TIME TO PUT HER ON SEAT BELT. THE VAN CONTINUED TO REVERSE DOWN THE DRIVEWAY WHERE IT COMPLETED (ALMOST) A 180 DEGREE TURN. THE VAN FINALLY CAME TO A STOP ROLLING UP AGAINST A SIDEWALK CURB WITH A COUPLE MORE ENGINE REVS. A PERSON OTHER THAN THE DRIVER WAS THE FIRST TO THE VEHICLE AFTER IT CAME TO A STOP. HE NOTED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. HE SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF BY PRESSING THE IGNITION BUTTON. THE OWNER OF THE VAN AND DRIVER ARE VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE VEHICLE'S AND THEIR SAFETY AFTER HAVING EXPERIENCED THIS INCIDENT. *TT

SOMETIMES WHEN YOU OPEN THE SIDE DOOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE IT OPENS AND THEN STARTS TO SHUT AGAIN BEFORE YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO GET IN OR OUT. IF YOU ARE IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING IN OR OUT THE DOOR WILL HIT YOU. THIS DOESN'T ALWAYS HAPPEN BUT WHEN IT DOES IT IS FRUSTRATING. I AM AFRAID SOMEONE WILL GET HURT. WHEN THIS HAPPENS I HIT THE BUTTON BY THE MIRROR AND IT SEEMS TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING A SQUEAKING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE NOISE WAS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,500.
