2015 Chrysler Town and Country lost propulsion power while driving, endangering 2 occupants and surrounding drivers. While driving on a residential road, vehicle came to a stop at intersection. Upon attempting to accelerate from stop and applying gas, vehicle jolted and would not accelerate past 5 miles an hour with transmission engaging and disengaging while shifter was in drive. Vehicle's transmission would intermittently engage and disengage for 1/2 mile with no warning lights or error messages. Vehicle idled as normal, but vehicle would not engage transmission properly when shifter set to "Drive" position. Vehicle was then parked in driveway off of the road.

In approximately 10 separate instances starting around December 12th when I was driving my 2015 Town and Chrysler Mini van, it would lose power and shut off randomly. I would attempt to steer the car to the side or middle of the road (I lost the ability to turn the wheel), shut the car off and turn it back on and the car would start up again no problem. I took the car to the dealership three times for this issue and they were not able to find an issue any of the times I brought it in. It happened once when my daughter was in the car. I was concerned from my safety because I could have been rear ended. I avoid highway driving because of this issue.

There is a loud ticking noise coming from the engine. A mechanic said it’s a rocket arm failure. He said there are problems with them and were recalled in 2014. After researching the problem, it appears that the problem extends past the 2014 model year. You tube has hundreds of repair videos for this engine. The mechanic said that the problem will only get worse and can cause the engine to stall and miss and it will eventually freeze up causing a possible accident. Please investigate this. I have maintained this vehicle well with oil changes every 3000 miles. Thank you.

The seals in the oil cooler adapter failed. Began leaking oil from the top of the motor down onto the exhaust. This could easily cause a fire when the oil drips onto a hot exhaust. Confirmed by several mechanics and replicated in nearly ALL vehicles with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine. There was no warning lamps. The smell of burning oil was the first symptom. Followed shortly by seeing oil puddling under the vehicle.

OIL HOUSING HAS BEEN REPLACED 4 TIMES. SINCE 64K MILES, NOW AT 112K. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. THERE ARE SO MANY SIMILAR OCCURANCES. THIS IS A HUGE FIRE HAZZARD.

The engine developed a ticking noise. From what I have found, there are defective rocker arms in the engine. Eventually, they will fail and cause complete engine failure which can occur at any time, even when driving at high speeds. This seems to be a serious safety concern. Went to garage for vehicle to pass routine inspection. However, the OIL FILTER HOUSING was leaking quite a bit. Due to the size of the leak, I had to pay to replace the oil filter housing and the related fluids. This was about a 3 hours repair. I could not drive the vehicle until the part was replaced. This part failing and leaking at about 85,800 miles seems to have been premature. The garage staff told me the vehicle could not pass inspection until the part was replaced. It seems as if the part has had issues and the newer components may be more durable.

Two blocks from home my Pentastar oil filter housing & cooler line broke and there was oil all over and the car stalled just before my driveway. Could not start it and had a towing company take to Meekhof Tire & Service where I have my work done. Safety was ok. No inspected other than Meekhof checking to see what was wrong. There were no warning lights on dash. Chrysler has known about this problem for a long time and never did a recall. So I had to get a used 3.6lV6 engine.

Cylinder #1 misfire fuel injectors replaced 4/16/2024; 7/26/2024 cylinder #6 misfire and compression leak. Chrysler refuses to acknowledge additional issue with this 3.6L engine cylinder head. Customer service disconnected me when I asked to file a complaint. Called the Canadian phone number on X56 service bulletin and repeatedly got disconnect.

The vehicle randomly loses all power, which means no power steering and no brakes. It happens randomly and after searching online it appears others have the same issue faced back to the wireless ignition node being faulty. However the previous recall doesn't cover the vehicle I have which is experiencing the exact same symptoms. My wife has already had a close call as she is unable to steer the vehicle without power steering and the brakes don't work at all.

Oil cooler housing leak. Oil leaking all over transmission and engine valley, potential fire hazard. Ticking in engine and metal deposits caused by poor design of cam follower. destroyed cam and potential for engine to seize up.

My van began to leak oil at a high rate spontaneously one day. I found antifreeze had mixed into the piston chamber as well. Upon further investigation, it appears that the OFA as Chrysler calls it, or the Oil Filter Assembly, has a fatal design flaw being made of plastic and through heat and time these units are prone to cracking. Upon investigating forums, this assembly is used on other vehicles across the FCA brands and exhibits the same failure. It is also prone to cracking during the replacement process of the filter as high torque of unscrewing or screwing the filter can crack a portion of the OFA. There is an aluminum version of the OFA that is being recommended for replacement of the OEM OFA which to me signals a confirmation of the design defect, however, if the vehicle is outside the warranty, the OEM is refusing to cover any of the replacement cost.

Several times over the past few weeks the van has just shut off while driving. This has happened at low speeds and at city driving speeds. The engine just completely shuts off and the van loses power brakes/steering/acceleration with no warning, no rough running, no sounds, and no check engine light. The mechanic cannot find anything wrong with it but the problem continues at random intervals. This is potentially very dangerous and even worse is that there is no evident problem.

Check engine light came on and vehicle began to surge. Acceleration was unpredictable. It wouldn't accelerate properly and then would surge forward. I took it to a repair shop and after a accumulating a large diagnostic bill, they said that the lobes on camshaft wore down and are causing misfires. They said it was a well known manufacturing defect and a common issue with this engine.

We have had multiple times when we are driving, and our vehicle shuts off and we lose power steering and power brakes. When the van does come to a stop, we are able to restart it and continue on. There is no warning that the van is going to shut off, it just does it. This is our family vehicle. I have found multiple forms online with customers complaining of the same issue with no positive results from the dealerships.

The engine died while traveling 80mph and power steering stopped. Engine died at a stop light in traffic. No lights display on dashboard and no codes display. Car runs fine after turning off then restarting. This is dangerous and appears common in town and countries. We could have died at 80mph.

The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to two independent mechanics, where it was diagnosed with needing the transmission pump to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000 (Power Train), however the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000. The consumer stated the vehicle was inspected by 3 different dealers and determined there was a faulty transmission pump. The consumer is appealing the recall and requesting to be part of the recall.

My van has a leak at the valve seat in cylinder 1 on the intake side. It has been inspected my a mechanic and available for anyone else to look at it. My car is not old and low mileage. The mechanic said he had someone recently in with the same problem on the 3.6L engine, same year, same low mileage. This causes a problem because the combustion is not properly working in the engine so it has a health hazard for everyone because it has a larger and worse carbon footprint because the engine is not working/functioning properly how the car manufacturers intended it to be. I have searched forums and have found multiple people having the same problem with the cylinders. I believe the problem to be with the engine head because the mechanic said when he fixed the other engine he had to get the head off and get it re-machined. Also people are having the misfire in different cylinder. No warning lights were on before the issue happened.

My Vehicle is no even at 100,000 and there is a ticking noise, I was told it is the rocker arm and lifter, I was told that this is a constant issue with Chryslers and that this happens constantly. I fell like since i am right outside of the warranty by a few months that this should be covered considering i heard a tick before my warranty was up and was never told that is what it was and every time i took it everyone just brushed it off. This is a safely hazard because i was told i have to wait until this gets really bad before anyone can do anything about it cause no one know which rocker arm is messing up. My car can stop or back fire at any point and all I'm being told is i have to wait until it mess up all the way which is not a good thing. It can stop at any point and someone could run right into me. Yes it was inspected by 2 car places, as well as the warranty department for them to tell me this would be covered but cant be until i get it fixed. There are no check engine lights to show this is a issue and i was told that is really odd that they are no signal lights to show there is an issue with the engine. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

When I accelerate, the vehicle jumps, as if the transmission is slipping. It seems like it does it when it needs to change gears. There aren’t any lights on to indicate anything is wrong, however, this problem is consistent and I’m scared the vehicle will leave my small children and I on the side of the road

When driving my van it will chug going up hills or faster then 25mph like the transmission is slipping. The seat belt light will appear and say it's not connected when driving have to keep pushing seat belt in to get it to stop saying driver seat belt unbuckled.

The battery and check engine lights are constantly on despite a new battery, new battery cable, and new alternator. The cruise control will randomly stop working. Abs and vehicle stability lights will go on and off. And at times headlights, dash, and radio screen will flicker and lose power making it impossible to see or know what the car is doing. Mechanic has looked at and repaired the car 3 different times and there is nothing identifiably wrong. The car is now unsafe to drive not knowing when the dash will go out, speed will reduce, or lights turn off. It is a hazard to the driver and others on the road.

transmission was slipping- Chrysler deal inspected the car and found transmission had low oil pressure due to worn oil pump . they replaced the transmission and oil cooler assemble A recall for a transmission pump seizing causing low pressure has been issued for some Chrysler Town& Country 2015.

The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town & Country. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that no warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was able to restart after an hour. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who stated that a repair was a waste of money as no diagnosis or repairs were done. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. The transmission was replaced however, the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic who then replaced an unknown filter however, the failure still occurred. The vehicle was then taken to another independent mechanic who stated that a thermostat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

BOUGHT THE CAR NEW IN 2014, (IT WAS THE 6TH CHRYSLER MINIVAN I'VE OWNED SINCE 1995.) I LOVE THESE MINVANS! THIS ONE HAS HAD AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH CYLINDER #3 MISFIRING AND CAUSING VIOLENT SHAKING (AS IF IT HAD A BROKEN ENGINE MOUNT). THE PROBLEM HAS ALWAYS BEEN DIAGNOSED AND EVENTUALLY "FIXED" BY THREE DIFFERENT CHRYSLER SERVICE DEPARTMENTS IN NC, FL & VA.(THE PROBLEM OCCURED ON VARIOUS TRIPS). IT WAS USUALLY DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY FUEL INJECTOR. MOST RECENTLY IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS A SPARK PLUG FAILURE DUE TO A TINY CRACK IN THE INSULATION. THEY INSTALLED A NEW SPARK PLUG, AND AFTER LEAVING DEALERSHIP AND DRIVING NO MORE THAN 20 MILES, VIOLENT SHAKING OCCURED AGAIN. I IMMEDIATLEY RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS TIME #3 SPARK PLUG HAD "EXPLODED" AND CAUSED THE CYLINDER HEAD TO CRACK. ALL PREVIOUS REPAIRS WERE COVERED BY THE "LIFETIME" WARRANTY PURCHASED AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE IN 2014. HOWEVER THIS TIME, CHRYSLER INSURANCE SENT AN INVESTIGATOR WHO DETERMINED THAT THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY THE EXPLODING SPARK PLUG AND THEREFORE DENIED COVERAGE. THE CHRYSLER SERVICE TECHNICIAN SAID THE "PCM" FAILED, CAUSING THE SPARK PLUG FAILURE. THE INSURANCE AGENT CONTINUES TO DENY THE CLAIM BECAUSE THEIR POLICY "DOES NOT COVER SPARK PLUG PROBLEMS" ! THEY NOW WANT ME TO PAY $2500 FOR REPAIRS. IN ALL CASES, THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" CAME ON AND I WOULD RETURN TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED. THEIR COMPUTER CHECK ALWAYS DEFINED THE PROBLEM AS BEING SOMETHING IN CYLINDER #3, BUT INCONCLUSIVE BECAUSE OF NO OBVIOUS ENGINE SYMPTOMS. THEY WOULD RESET THE ENGINE LIGHT AND SEND ME ON MY WAY UNTIL AN ACTUAL PROBLEM OCCURED, AND THEN LEAVE THE VEHICLE FOR MORE DETAILED CHECKING. EACH TIME THE PROBLEM OCCURED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND USUALLY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON I-95...A DANGEROUS TIME AND PLACE FOR ENGINE PROBLEMS TO OCCUR. PLEASE NOTE THAT EVERY PROBLEM WE'VE HAD WITH THIS VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS BEEN WITH CYLINDER #3 "MISFIRING". IS THERE A PROBLEM HERE?

I bought my car from 440 Dodge in Jersey City NJ, I had Mopar Insurance for repairs. I bought it back twice for transmission purposes, Dealer did change a somewhat sensor to change shifting on trans at no charge cause I was covered but know it's happening again, Not shifting accordingly, gas is burning cause of staying in gears that are not shifting. Trans is not slipping but I'm having the same problem on shifting and will stay stuck on same gear and car will keep accelerating wich in some cases l'd have to keep foot on brake, pull over and let system reset. What are my options in this case, Thank You

While driving on the freeway, the engine completely shut off. I lost power steering, power and all electrical power. I stopped then it turned on fine with no issues. Not reproduced. No prior messages or symptoms.

I'VE HAD TO HAVE MAJOR WORK DONE TO MY ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. BUT THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS ARE NEVER ENDING. MOST OF THE ELECTRIC INSIDE OF MY CAR HARDLY WORKS. OUR POWER DOORS HAVE CLOSED ON MY KIDS SEVERAL TIMES, THE CAR HAS LOCKED US IN WHILE THE ALARM WAS GOING OFF AND WE COULDN'T GET OUT, IT'S BEEN STUCK ON AND WOULDN'T TURN OFF, THE TRANSMISSION IS CONSTANTLY SLIPPING, THE WINDOWS OPEN AND CLOSE THEMSELVES, MANY TIMES I'VE COME OUT OF THE STORE AND THE ELECTRIC SLIDING DOOR WAS OPEN WHEN IT WASN'T LEFT OPEN, LOCKS LOCK THEMSELVES, CAR ALARM GOES OFF WHILE CARS IN DRIVE AND IN PARK, CAR HESITATES TO GO AND I COULD GO ON AND ON. THIS CAR IS ONLY FIVE YEARS OLD !!!!

MY VAN IS SHAKING WHEN I STOP AND STALLS OUT WHEN I STOP. IT ALSO SHIFTS POORLY (JUMPS WHEN SHIFTING). I TOOK IT TO MEDINA AUTO MALL WHO SAID THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS REPLACED. IT ONLY HAS 55,000 MILES ON IT. I NOTICED THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL FOR POWER TRAN ON THE ONES MADE RIGHT BEFORE (OR AFTER, I CAN'T REMEMBER EXACTLY WHICH WAY IT WAS) MY VAN WAS MADE WHICH IS VERY FRUSTRATING. I SHOULD NOT HAVE A TO REPLACE A TRANSMISSION ON A VAN I JUST PURCHASED 2 YEARS AGO THAT I HAVE TAKEN GREAT CARE OF AND HAS LOW MILES ON IT. I PAID 21,000 FOR THIS VEHICLE AND IT IS DISTURBING THAT THEY ARE TELLING ME THE TRANSMISSION IS BAD. I HAVE 3 CHILDREN AND IT IS DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING THEM AROUND IN THIS VEHICLE. UNFORTUNATELY, WE ARE UNSURE WHAT TO DO RIGHT NOW AS WE DON'T HAVE THE FUNDS TO PUT THAT MUCH MONEY INTO IT. I PUT A DATE AS TO WHEN IT LAST HAPPENED BUT IT HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES.

I WAS DRIVING ALONG IN MOTION, AN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR JUST COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND THE BRAKE GOT TIGHT. THANK GOD I WAS ON A SLOW STREET SO I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR AND PUT IT IN PARK AND THE CAR STARTED RIGHT BACK UP AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED TO ME ONCE IN OCTOBER AND ONCE AGAIN A MONTH LATER IN NOVEMBER. IN NOVEMBER I WAS ON A REGULAR STREET IN TRAFFIC AND THE CAR SHUT DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO PUT IT IN PARK AND START IT BACK UP AGAIN. THIS IS SO SCARY AND A SAFETY PROBLEM. THANK GOD I DIDN'T CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

CAR WAS RUNNING PERFECTLY AT 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND ENGINE CUT OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR INDICATION OF POOR OPERATION, RESULTING IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND LOSS POWER BRAKES. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN 12 DAYS ON NOV 14 AND NOW NOV 26 WHILE DRIVING TO WHOLE FAMILY TO THANKSGIVING. MECHANIC HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. VERY SCARY. CAR HAS 76K MILES. CAR WILL START RIGHT BACK UP AFTER 20 MIN AND RUN PERFECTLY FINE. CAR HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED WITH EXTENDED WARRANTY.

THE CAR HAS 25,000 MILES ON IT. STARTING OUT FROM MY HOUSE DOWN A HILL THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING AS APPARENTLY THE ENGINE STOPPED. I RESTARTED AND DROVE ABOUT 15 MILES AND WAS ON I-26 IN TN AT 65 MPH AND THE ENGINE RPM DROPPED TO 0, POWER BRAKES AND STEERING WERE INOPERABLE BUT I MANAGED TO GET ONTO THE SHOULDER BUT WAS IN A DANGEROUS SPOT WITH TRAFFIC SPEEDING BY. CAR WOULD START BUT I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE IT ASS IT WAS NOT SAFE IF IT CUT OUT AGAIN ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. HAD IT TOWED. STILL NOT REPAIRED AND MECHANIC SAID IT SHOWED A CODE OF BOTH BANK SENSORS. E HAS NOT FOUND THE PROBLEM AS OF YET BUT I UNDERSTAND CHRYSLER HAS HAD ISSUES WITH ENGINE STOPPAGE. THIS IS DANGEROUS AS MY WIFE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CONTROL THE HARD STEERING AND BRAKES AND LIKELY WOULD HAVE WRECKED.

AFTER GAINING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL THE DEALER UMANSKY DODGE CHRYSLER OF CHARLOTTESVILLE LOCATED AT 960 HILTON HEIGHTS RD, CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA 22901, WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE PCM WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PCM WAS REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,500.

THE CONTACT STATED HE THEN EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE HIMSELF AND ALSO STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE CONTACT CALLED ARRIGO CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM SAWGRASS LOCATED AT 5901 MADISON AVE, TAMARAC, FL 33321, (954) 515-5800 AND WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V461000 (POWER TRAIN), HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. ON ONE OF OUR LAST VISITS ON JUNE 12, 2019, I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN BECAUSE IT WAS MAKING AN AWFUL WHINING NOISE AND JOLTING WHEN ACCELERATED AND WHEN I WOULD BRAKE IT WOULD SHAKE. UPON INSPECTION THE DEALER INFORMED US THAT THE WHINING AND JOLTING WAS DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION FAILING AND NEEDED REPLACING THROUGH WARRANTY. THEY ALSO TOLD US MY AUTOMOBILE WAS SHAKING WHEN BRAKING BECAUSE IT NEEDED NEW BRAKES, WHICH WERE NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. I DECLINED THE REPLACEMENT SERVICE FOR THE BRAKES DUE TO THEIR EXCESSIVE FEES UPWARD OF $800. WE PICKED UP OUR VEHICLE ON JUNE 25, 2019, AFTER THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE WAS ADDRESSED. WE THEN VISITED AN AUTO BRAKE VENDOR AND THEY INFORMED US OUR BRAKES WERE STILL GOOD AND DIDN'T NEED REPLACING, NOT WHAT THE DEALER TOLD US. SO WE DROVE OUR CAR FOR 2 MONTHS WITH AN UNKNOWN SHAKING WHEN BRAKING. COME AUGUST WE BEGIN TO NOTICE THE VEHICLE JOLTING A BIT AGAIN WHEN ACCELERATING. ON AUGUST 28, 2019, WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH MY 4 KIDS IN IT AFTER SCHOOL, THE BRAKES GAVE OUT IT; TOOK ME PRESSING THE PEDAL TO THE BOTTOM TO FINALLY GET THE CAR TO STOP, NEARLY MISSING THE CAR IN FRONT OF US. I PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY AND CALLED THE DEALER BECAUSE I KNEW THIS WAS NOT A SIMPLE BRAKE PAD ISSUE. THE DEALER TOLD ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO THEM IMMEDIATELY. WHEN I ARRIVED THE SERVICE ATTENDANT INFORMED US THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE INSPECTED WHICH WOULD PROBABLY NOT BE UNTIL THE FOLLOWING DAY SINCE IT WAS LATER IN THE AFTERNOON. THE FOLLOWING DAY I WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE VEHICLES BRAKE BOOSTER HAD FAILED AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE HEAD BOLTS WERE BROKEN. HOW IS IT THAT THE TRANSMISSION HEAD BOLTS WERE BROKEN WHEN THEY HAD JUST RECONSTRUCTED IT 2 MONTHS PRIOR AND WHY WAS THE BRAKING ISSUE NOT CORRECTLY DIAGNOSED DURING THAT SAME JUNE VISIT INSTEAD OF TRYING TO SELL ME OVERPRICED BRAKES AND PUTTING MY FAMILY IN DANGER.

IN JUNE THE ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED IN MY VEHICLE. IN MAY, THE OIL CONTAINER WAS REPLACED. NOW IN SEPTEMBER THE TRANSMISSION IS BEING REPLACED. LAST YEAR SOMETIME, THERE WERE ELECTRICAL ISSUES ADDRESSED. NOW THE AIR CONDITIONING IN THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE DOES NOT WORK. IT SEEMS WE ARE TOTALLY REBUILDING THE CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY 2015 ALL AT SUBSTANTIAL COSTS TO ME. WHILE THEY ARE PUTTING IN A NEW TRANSMISSION, THEY TELL ME THAT THEY ARE TOO BUSY TO CHECK THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE AND THE AIR CONDITIONING TROUBLES. YET I WAITED FOR NEARLY A MONTH FOR A WESTCHESTER DEALER TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AND THEY DID NOT HONOR MY ADDITIONAL INSURANCE BY GIVING ME A RENTAL VEHICLE - SO I HAD NO TRANSPORTATION. I HAVE HAD A HORRIBLE TIME WITH THE TROUBLES, INCONVENIENCES AND COSTS. DON'T I HAVE ANY RIGHTS HERE? I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON NARROW STREETS IN A BUSY RESORT AREA - THANK GOD IT WAS VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING BECAUSE THE CAR JUST STOPPED RUNNING WITH NO WARNING. THIS TURNED OUT TO BE TRANSMISSION ON SUNDAY MORNING LABOR DAY WEEKEND! I AM STILL IN THE RESORT AREA PAYING FOR HOUSING WHILE THEY "FIX" MY TRANSMISSION. PARTS WERE TO ARRIVE YESTERDAY SEPT 10TH BUT DIDN'T ARRIVE UNTIL EARLY THIS EVENING. THEY ARE NOT SURE THEY CAN HAVE IT FIXED BY FRIDAY SEPT 13, 2019. LAST SUMMER THE ELECTRICAL STABILITY WENT BONKERS. THAT WAS ANOTHER ISSUE. ALSO MY VEHICLE KEEPS GOING DOWN IN VALUE. I OWE MORE ON IT THAN IT IS NOW WORTH. DOCUMENTATION IS WITH MY VEHICLE WHICH IS CURRENTLY UNDERGOING TRANSMISSION REPAIRS. THAT IS DOCUMENTATION OF ALL OF THESE REPAIRS SINCE MAKING THIS PURCHASE LESS THAN 18 MONTHS AGO.

ALSO THE AIR BAG IN THE PASSENGER HEAD REST EXPLODED EARLIER IN THE YEAR WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AND WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT, AND THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR WILL MECHANICALLY OPEN BUT NOT SHUT. DURING AN OIL CHANGE, WHEN THE FILTER CAP WAS REMOVED, THERE WAS A PLASTIC COMPONENT STUCK IN THE END OF THE FILTER THAT THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN DIDN'T RECOGNIZE. ONE OF THE FOUR TABS INSIDE THE CAP WAS BROKEN OFF AND NOT ABLE TO BE LOCATED. IT COULD STILL BE INSIDE INSIDE THE OIL FILTER HOUSING, BUT AN INSPECTION WITH A FLASHLIGHT DID NOT LOCATE IT. PURCHASED A NEW CAP FROM DEALER. THE CAP HAS AN INTEGRATED SPRING LOADED NIPPLE THAT THE FILTER SLIPS ONTO.

THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY WAS OPERATING NORMALLY, BUT THE IOD MAIN FUSE WAS FAULTY. THE FUSE WAS NOT REPLACED. LATER, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND VIBRATED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.

THE COWLING OR ENGINE COVER BROKE AT APPROX 28K MILES FOR NO KNOWN REASON. IT WAS REPLACED BY BRANHAVEN JEEP/DODGE OF BRANFORD, CONNECTICUT AFTER SEVERAL VISITS AND TEST DRIVES. THE LAST TEST DRIVE WAS FOR 45 MINUTES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, WITH MY WIFE AND THE MECHANIC, BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT FIND THE ISSUE. IT'S A PAIN IN THE BUTT RETURNING THIS VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP 3X FOR THE SAME ISSUE--. NOW IT HAS BEEN REPLACED, BUT THE ISSUE HAS RETURNED AFTER ABOUT 6 WEEKS OR SO....MAYBE TWO MONTHS. DEALERSHIP IS SAYING THE SAME THING--CAN'T FIND THE ISSUE BECAUSE IT MAINLY HAPPENS AT ABOUT 69 MPH AND THEY SAID IT'S ILLEGAL TO DRIVE THAT FAST IN THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT. A STAR CASE WITH DODGE WILL BE STARTED ON THIS, I'M CALLING THIS WEEKEND. THE WHISTLE COMES FROM THE DASHBOARD INSIDE THE CAR, DRIVERS' SIDE, JUST LEFT OF CENTER. THIS NUISANCE IS A SAFETY ISSUE TO THE DRIVER AND A CULTURAL NOTE SIGNIFYING A COMPLETE DECLINE IN CHRYSLER PRODUCTION. IF THE ENGINE COWLS ARE CRACKING----THIS COULD SIGNIFY EARLY WEAR AND TEAR IN THE ENGINE CAUSING THE COWL TO CRACK AND SEVER THE BELTS. ON NOVEMBER 25 AT 4:30PM, I WAS DRIVING ON ROUTE 80 GOING WESTBOUND APPROACHING EXITS 27 A AND B IN NORTHERN NEW JERSEY. I WAS PLANNING TO USE EXIT 26 AND GENTLY ACCELERATED MY TOWN AND COUNTRY VAN IN ORDER TO PASS A VEHICLE TO MY RIGHT AND TRANSITION TO THE RIGHT LANE IN ORDER TO EXIT. AFTER PASSING THE VEHICLE, I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE GAS PEDAL AND MY CAR UNEXPECTEDLY CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I IMMEDIATELY APPLIED THE BRAKE SOMEWHAT FORCEFULLY IN ORDER TO STOP THE ACCELERATION. UPON REMOVING MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE, THE CAR AGAIN ACCELERATED UNDER ITS OWN POWER. I QUICKLY SCANNED THE DASHBOARD TO SEE IF I WAS ACCIDENTALLY TRIGGERING A FUNCTION SUCH AS CRUISE CONTROL. I NOTICED A RED LIGHTNING BOLT SYMBOL ILLUMINATED, WHICH INDICATES A MALFUNCTION WITH THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL. I WAS ABLE TO APPLY THE BRAKE FORCEFULLY ENOUGH TO USE THE EXIT RAMP. AS I APPROACHED THE END OF THE EXIT RAMP THE CAR SEEMED TO CEASE ITS ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A NEARBY GAS STATION, PARK THE VEHICLE, AND TURN IT OFF. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE THE WARNING SYMBOL WAS NO LONGER PRESENT AND THE CAR SEEMED TO BE OPERATING NORMALLY. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE JOHNSON DODGE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. THEY ACCEPTED THE VEHICLE FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING BUT WERE NOT ABLE TO FIND ANY COMPUTER OR ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION. THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE THE NEXT MORNING AND THE SERVICE STAFF MEMBER [XXX] COULD NOT PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE MALFUNCTION AND THEORIZED THAT MY RUBBER FLOOR MATS MUST HAVE BEEN STUCK ON THE GAS PEDAL DURING THE INCIDENT. NO OTHER EXPLANATION OR OFFICIAL PAPERWORK WAS PROVIDED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THIS INCIDENT WAS ALSO REPORTED TO AN OFFICIAL CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE ([XXX]; EMPLOYEE #[XXX]).
