2015 Chrysler Town and Country lost propulsion power while driving, endangering 2 occupants and surrounding drivers. While driving on a residential road, vehicle came to a stop at intersection. Upon attempting to accelerate from stop and applying gas, vehicle jolted and would not accelerate past 5 miles an hour with transmission engaging and disengaging while shifter was in drive. Vehicle's transmission would intermittently engage and disengage for 1/2 mile with no warning lights or error messages. Vehicle idled as normal, but vehicle would not engage transmission properly when shifter set to "Drive" position. Vehicle was then parked in driveway off of the road.
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that the vehicle was purchased, and while driving 60-70 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to Auto Zone and was diagnosed and determined that the torque converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V529000 (POWER TRAIN); however, the VIN or the vehicle type was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 106,163.

I purchased the vehicle yesterday. On drive home I noticed that it stop pulling. I took foot off of gas and reapply and the vehicle picked up speed again. I got home and checked recalls for this year vehicle and noticed a safety recall for the transmission. When I called dealership today and gave the VIN # they said there were no recalls for my vehicle. But my vehicle is performing exactly like the safety recall reported. Person I bought it from said she's been the only owner. So now I'm going to have to find a shop to repair the transmission because I refuse to drive a vehicle that's unsafe. Why was my van not included in the recall when the recall list included my year make and model?
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that while her husband was driving uphill at an undisclosed speed, the transmission failed to properly shift into a higher gear, and the engine was revving abnormally. The contact pulled over the side of the road 1,000 ft away from the residence and added transmission fluid to the vehicle. The contact stated that while following her husband in another vehicle, she observed leaking fluid underneath the vehicle. The contact’s husband stopped the vehicle and the contact noticed that transmission reservoir was empathy. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission fluid was leaking from the bell housing, and the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then towed to another independent transmission mechanic but had not yet been diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

Wife was driving vehicle home and loud whining began. Vehicle started to jerk on way home. Got home to driveway and car would not pull itself up the hill of driveway. Vehicle will not shift into any gear now except park.
OIL HOUSING HAS BEEN REPLACED 4 TIMES. SINCE 64K MILES, NOW AT 112K. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. THERE ARE SO MANY SIMILAR OCCURANCES. THIS IS A HUGE FIRE HAZZARD.
Noticed the vehicle was leaking fluid. The vehicle temperature GAUGE was also running HOT. Went to a garage on 9 18 2024 and was told the 2 transmission hose lines were leaking and needed replacing. Was a significant leak. Was not able to use the vehicle due to HOT temperature gauge and only able to drive the vehicle a short distance and leaking fluids. Had to have both transmission hoses replaced at about 84500 miles. (SEE DIFFERENT complaint, that 1 - 2 months later, on 12 5 2024 had to go to a garage and have the OIL FILTER HOUSING replaced due to another leak and replace all related fluids).
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. There were no warning lights illuminated or messages displayed. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and restarted. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to exceed 25 MPH. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that an unknown pump inside of the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer where the same diagnostic result was provided. The vehicle was then taken back to the independent mechanic and repaired; however, the failure reoccurred a month later. The manufacturer was noticed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.
On interstate 95 I was on the on ramp and tried to accelerate and merge onto the highway the rpms went way up and the vehicle slowed down and has no acceleration leaving me in the path of a tractor trailer who honked his horn and barely missed me. I limped to the shoulder got a toe trk to row it to a repair facility. I was told the tranmission pump had gone out and that there was a recall for these transmissions
i was driving and all of a sudden my 2015 town and country was shifting erratically then the transmission had no drive all RPMS kept going up but no movement there needs to be a recall for these 62te transmissions there are so many complaints about these transmissions failing and nothing has been done over years and years same issue
The van began making a squeal noise and the RPMs fluctuating then the check engine light came, I got it scanned the code was for low transmission pressure, This vehicle has less then 100,000 miles on it. The vehicle was inspected by two different repair shops.
While driving, transmission began to stutter and car began to buck. No check engine lights came on. Transmission then had a whining noise and was overheating.
While driving the vehicle it loses power and will not shift gears. This happened in the middle of a busy highway with me and my children in the car. When turning the van off and back on it will then go into gear but then quickly loses power and will not move forward. This happened 7/28/2024
Cylinder #1 misfire fuel injectors replaced 4/16/2024; 7/26/2024 cylinder #6 misfire and compression leak. Chrysler refuses to acknowledge additional issue with this 3.6L engine cylinder head. Customer service disconnected me when I asked to file a complaint. Called the Canadian phone number on X56 service bulletin and repeatedly got disconnect.
Drove 20 miles to doctors appointment in vehicle. No signs of problem. Was at doctors office for about 2 hours. When I left doctors office vehicle was acting erratic. Making noise and revving even when not applying gas. Jolting forward unexpectedly. Hesitating when accelerating. There were no indicators and no check engine light coming on at that time. I got off highway and took back roads until I found a place to safely stop vehicle. Turned vehicle off and waited a bit. Started vehicle again and drove it around a cul de sac several times to try to see if it might be better. While driving in cul de sac check engine light finally came on. It was steady, not flashing. This was several miles after car first started exhibiting erratic behavior. I could not tell if car would be controllable. After parking car for quite a while and letting it cool I was able to drive it the rest of the way home, going slow and coasting when possible to avoid having to accelerate and brake more than absolutely necessary. Ran diagnostic which suggested transmission problem. Looked up recalls and although 2015 town and country has recalls for transmission pump my vin number was not covered under recall. Once transmission was taken apart and investigated by mechanic I learned my transmission pump was indeed bad and so was my torque converter. I had to pay for transmission rebuild and pump and converter out of my pocket. While I was driving the car the day this happened I had no warning of the problem. Drive to the appointment was normal- no noise or erratic behavior. Drive home was scary. Hard to judge what car would do. Had to leave lots of distance in case car jolted forward and go slow in case car would not accelerare when needed. Had to pull over and let car cool multiple times to get all the way home. If I was not able to exit the highway when I did I fear I may have had an accident trying to drive safely at highway speeds.
my vehicle was going up hill when it started smoking. I pulled over and found a leak under the van which was transmission fluid. I had to pay $2200.00 to have the vehicle towed home to my local mechanic and now it is costing an additional 1800.00 to fix the torque converter and transmission fluid pump. It dropped in speed from 50 to 30 to nothing within seconds of going up the hill.
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the transmission failed to operate as needed and the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the gear shifter remained in neutral. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was not contacted, and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacture was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
Mileage: 100,000
While driving the transmission lost power and car behaved like it was in neutral while in drive.
Car shakes and stalls when coming to a stop. No lights on the dash. Took it to a dealer and found it is the sensors in the transmission. These should not break on a van that has under 100,000 miles.
On my way home the transmission pump failed in my van which then caused the entire transmission to fail. I was at a stop sign and when I went to go the car to not move forward, it would just rev as if I was in neutral and then when it first happened, it would suddenly kick in to gear. Now the dealership tells me it will not go into gear at all, it just rev's. After some research we saw that there is a recall for this exact issue that exists for our van's year and model; however our VIN was not included in the recall. As it stands right now we are having the transmission replaced but this is obviously related to the existing recall and believe it should be added to it as well. Chryslers number for the recall is S44. I've included the invoice from the dealership for the repair stating that the pump failed.
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was diagnosed with transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
Mileage: 85,000
We were traveling to Illinois when with out warning the car downshifted and went 55m/hr at 5000 rpm instead of 70m/hr at 2000 rpm. Incident occurred 7/22/2023. We were on the tollway coming in to Rockford Illinois at the beginning of rush hour. The mechanic found that the transmission had failed at 47,190 miles on the car. Of course the auto was out of warranty. 2015 Chrysler Town and Country Touring Van 5y or 60,000 mi on the powertrain. This could have been a very dangerous situation with the car accelerating and decelerating as we drove. The interesting thing is the certified transmission mechanic told us this was the 4th van he has seen in the last 2 weeks with the same issue. The transmission fluid was full of metal shards, now this does not seem right on an auto with only 47,190 miles on it There is documentation attached with the component data as per the computer record.
The transmission started whining I brought it to the shop they say it’s the transmission pump. I need a new transmission
Recall (ID-16V461000) VIN number said it was done But still having transmission issues. Bought used so not sure if it was completed or not. But when I put in my Vin it comes up no recalls BUT still having the same issues as recall (ID-16V461000)
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to two independent mechanics, where it was diagnosed with needing the transmission pump to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000 (Power Train), however the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000. The consumer stated the vehicle was inspected by 3 different dealers and determined there was a faulty transmission pump. The consumer is appealing the recall and requesting to be part of the recall.

Car passenger headrest is deployed and cylinder 6 is misfiring as described under the recall description from the previous years vehicles recalls.
Halfway through a nearly 1000 mile trip from my home to Panama City Beach, FL, I noticed a noise slowly getting louder from the vehicle as the trip progressed. About 100 miles out from our destination, I noticed gears started slipping and the check engine light came on. Luckily, we did get to our destination and an Auto Service Center. From the attached invoice, we now know the "front transmission pump has low pressure starving transmission for fluid damaging transmission internally." This required us to replace the transmission, which was a nearly $6500 repair. It turns out, Chrysler recalled other 2015 Town and County vans for this exact same reason (recall number is 16V461000 and Chrysler's number is S44). However, my VIN was NOT a part of this recall. According to this recall description, "If the transmission loses hydraulic pressure, the vehicle may lose motive power, increasing the risk of a crash." The fact that my vehicle was not recalled but had the same issue as other vehicles that were recalled should warrant an investigation. I now know my family's safety was unknowingly at risk. I will also give this information directly to Chrysler.
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 MPH, the transmission inadvertently downshifted to first gear, causing the RPM’s to rev to 6,000 RPM. There were unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact pulled off the roadway and turned off and restarted the vehicle several times before the transmission regained normal functionality. The contact stated that the failure became constant. Additionally, the manual shifting and sports modes were inoperable. The contact drove the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission pump had failed, and the transmission was damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000 (Power Train). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.
Mileage: 135,000
Similar to NHTSA Campaign ID: 16V461000 While driving the van at highway speed, there was a sudden failure of the automatic transmission leading to lack of fwd/reverse motion control. Fortunately, this incident did not result in a crash; driver was able to coast to shoulder with hazard lights on. No warning lights appeared on the instrument cluster. Vehicle had to be towed away from scene. Vehicle is at Chrysler dealer who suspects hyd pump failure leading to transmission failure similar to above campaign. This van was manufactured in Nov 2014 (as a 2015) model and was not part of the OEM recall.
Transmission pump failure, causing vehicle to be inoperable. Low pressure.
While driving the transmission started to make a loud whistling sound and would not change gears appropriately. At 5-6 thousand RPMs the vehicle would jam into the appreciate gear and cause the car to abruptly lurch forward and shudder. Upon examination of the transmission fluid, it was black and smelled burnt, and contained bits of metal. No previous OBD codes or engine lights identified any issues. After driving an additional 5 miles the vehicle would not accelerate or engage into drive (any gear) or reverse.
Last month when driving my van started to stall when driving came to a stop at a light and the engine jerked, light turned green started to drive and it wouldn't go over 30 then all of a sudden it speeded up and the started making a weird sound pulled, off into a parking lot wasn't able to get it all the way in a parking spot. Called to have it towed. The transmission blew and it only has 65,000 miles. That cost me alot to get a transmission. Now the seatbelt on drivers side will not lock into place. Which I don't know what to do with that because you have to wear a seatbelt. When I bought this van brand new I had a lot of electrical issues kept taking it to the dealer they could never find anything. Lights would dim when driving, they was suppose to hook a machine up to it and it would register what was going on, this was requested by Chrysler when I couldn't get anywhere with the dealer ship. Chrysler set it up I go to the dealer and they don't have that equipment so they said they couldn't do anything, called Chrysler back told them was suppose to hear from someone never did. I feel this van is a death trap. The side doors act like they don't want to close at times. I have kept up on regular maintenance on the van. I just feel that when you pay $30,000.00 for a vehicle and take care of it things should last longer. I know it's 7 years old but low mileage and taken care of.
When I accelerate, the vehicle jumps, as if the transmission is slipping. It seems like it does it when it needs to change gears. There aren’t any lights on to indicate anything is wrong, however, this problem is consistent and I’m scared the vehicle will leave my small children and I on the side of the road
If the transmission loses hydraulic pressure, the vehicle may lose motive power, increasing the risk of a crash. Chrysler's number for this recall is S44 My transmission is starting to do this but I don't understand if my vehicle is the same year why is not showing on the vin# to be a recall?
Our transmission pump seized while driving on a highway. We couldn’t get out of gear and we’re stuck doing 20mph till we got home.
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, a whining sound came from the transmission. Additionally, while depressing the accelerator pedal, the RPM would increase however, the vehicle would not respond as intended. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission pump was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet been repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000 (Power Train). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced a failure with the recall. The failure mileage was 80,000. The consumer stated that at the time of failure, they were driving approximately 20-40 mph while in traffic. Also, the transmission was replaced about two weeks after the incident and the vehicle is working properly.
Mileage: 80,000
The transmission will not shift past 1st. I have had 3 transmissions in this vehicle and they all failed . This is a real issue . Check engine light on and shows powertrain transmission fail. We went out of town on vacation and transmission went out and vehicle would die out. It would not shift past 1st. We where scared my family and I, that we would not make it back to our state. We did not know this would be this unsafe and unable to leave our town. Let alone drive it. Please help
While driving, the van would rev up to almost 600 rpm & wasn't stopping and then the thermal light or a red light came on. We eventually got to the next exit & thought maybe it was the coolant, though we had checked it previously. It did have antifreeze in it, also, the temperature gage was not high or showing it was overheating either. After checking, we started on the road again, and the engine light was flashing and the van started to rev then lose power while we were driving on the highway it was quite scary. The thermal light was on and the engine light was flashing. We had to pull over due to the issue since it was no longer safe to drive. We ended up getting it towed & we were several hours from home. Our mechanic said he's seen this issues with the transmission on Chryslers town & country before. We can provide the Mechanic receipts to assist with support on this. We've already had to pay for a rebuilt transmission to be put in and truly shouldn't have to pay for a 20k vehicle to be fixes with less than 135k miles on it when it is well taken care of.
Driving at 30 mph with no issue stopped at a four-way crossing. As we were starting to move across intersection the van shifted then completely lost all forward motion with no warning like it was stuck in neutral. No warning lights came on until after power train lost all power. No accident occurred but lost all forward motion. Mechanic shop says powertrain will have to be replaced. Dealership never mentioned an issue with powertrain on last visit to them for ofluid change. Did not know of recall but not sure if van is on recall list due to it sitting at the mechanic shop.
When driving my van it will chug going up hills or faster then 25mph like the transmission is slipping. The seat belt light will appear and say it's not connected when driving have to keep pushing seat belt in to get it to stop saying driver seat belt unbuckled.
After Transmission failure 6 Months ago problems with Steering Vehicle, finally System locked up and unable to make a Left Turn.
The transaxle oil pump experienced a loss of hydraulic oil pressure due to an improperly manufactured transaxle oil pump. I was driving down the road when my car started experiencing issues. I was fortunate to not be in an accident as my ability to speed up or slow down the car did not function properly. There is a safety recall for this issue but my car is just slightly outside of the manufacture dates. Clearly the issue is replicated in vehicles outside of the recall manufacture dates. There was no warning prior to experiencing the failure. It was quite a scary situation and I'm fortunate it did not end in an accident.
Our van only has 83,000 miles and the transmission failed. While driving 45 miles an hour the car started to shake. While trying to find a safe place to pull over the car lost power. It was pulled into a parking spot and left for the tow company.
power train failure - transmission pump failed- lost power- resulting in wreck with my two young children in the car. This year and make is involved in a recall , but not my VIN per this website. Have read 100 other instances that are exactly like mine.
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to pull over nearby an independent mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with a transmission pump failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the independent mechanic. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
Mileage: 70,000
The transmission failed on a four lane highway (with 78,260 miles and original owner), as my wife and young son were trying to pull out from an intersection and merge into traffic, risking their safety and others on the same road. A moaning noise, which points to the transmission pump that was recalled on other same year models, seems to be the culprit according to the dealership, which requires a new or remanufactured transmission. After speaking my wife, who was in the process of running errands on 1/5/2022, the vehicle did not make any noise upon starting on her trip, but did start a slight moaning noise at one of her stops, which she stated sounded similar to the sound a power steering pump makes when low on fluid. Additionally, the vehicle was in for its annual safety inspection and PA emissions testing on 12/16/2021, for which it passed with no issues noted. The vehicle is currently sitting at a garage (after getting an initial diagnosis at the purchased dealership, Jim Shorkey Chrysler in North Huntingdon, PA) to get a second estimate of needing a new transmission. There were no warnings prior to this occurring, such as hesitation, check engine lamps, etc., and even on initial drop off, the check engine light still was not illuminated (the dealer has stated there are 3 codes for the transmission in the computer, but was not able to confirm whether the engine light was on now). After now reading various Internet websites, speaking with both the dealer and a mechanic, and even to a local tow truck driver, these vehicles all appear to have very similar transmission issues. The local mechanic stated he has replaced three of these exact transmissions for pump issues within the last few months. Being that there is such a backlog on replacements of this model, this points clearly that it is a safety issue on these vehicles and many, many of the same model outside of the recall date are suffering the same fate and NEED to be recalled IMMEDIATELY.
Transmission completely fails with only 83,000 miles. Paid at a Chrysler/Dodge dealership to have the transmission replaced with a new one. August 17th after driving the vehicle the transmission failed again. Took several weeks before they replaced the transmission valve body on supposedly a new transmission. After 1,644 miles the vehicle again loose power.
The engine turns off while driving at freeway speeds for no reason. It loses power increasing the risk of crash because there is no steering power. Also when coming to a stop, it begins to idle very rough then the engine dies. No check engine light on. Yes problem has been confirmed by 2 separate transmission mechanics. This is the same problem as Chrysler recall number S44 (transmission pump failure). But my manufacture date missed the recall by about 5 months.
transmission was slipping- Chrysler deal inspected the car and found transmission had low oil pressure due to worn oil pump . they replaced the transmission and oil cooler assemble A recall for a transmission pump seizing causing low pressure has been issued for some Chrysler Town& Country 2015.
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town & Country. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that no warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was able to restart after an hour. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who stated that a repair was a waste of money as no diagnosis or repairs were done. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. The transmission was replaced however, the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic who then replaced an unknown filter however, the failure still occurred. The vehicle was then taken to another independent mechanic who stated that a thermostat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that while her father was driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact called the local dealer but, the vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact stated the failure was like NHTSA campaign number: 16V461000 (Power Train) however, the Vin was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

I bought my car from 440 Dodge in Jersey City NJ, I had Mopar Insurance for repairs. I bought it back twice for transmission purposes, Dealer did change a somewhat sensor to change shifting on trans at no charge cause I was covered but know it's happening again, Not shifting accordingly, gas is burning cause of staying in gears that are not shifting. Trans is not slipping but I'm having the same problem on shifting and will stay stuck on same gear and car will keep accelerating wich in some cases l'd have to keep foot on brake, pull over and let system reset. What are my options in this case, Thank You
While driving on the freeway, the engine completely shut off. I lost power steering, power and all electrical power. I stopped then it turned on fine with no issues. Not reproduced. No prior messages or symptoms.
OVER THE COURSE OF HAVING THE VEHICLE FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS. WE HAVE HAD A NUMBER OF ODD OCCURRENCES WHERE WHEN DRIVING THE VAN IT HAS A HARD TIME SHIFTING WHILE CLIMBING A HILL, WHEN PULLING AWAY QUICKLY FROM A STOPPED POSITION OR WHEN COMING TO A STOP. THE ISSUE IS ALWAYS WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS SHIFTING. WE HAVE HAD IT LOOKED AT BUT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE, UNTIL. WHEN DRIVING TO THE GROCERY STORE THE VAN WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR WHILE TRYING TO LEAVE THE PARKING LOT ONTO A MAJOR CITY HIGHWAY. THE VAN JERKED AND SHOOK AND THEN REVVED VERY LOUDLY GETTING TO ALMOST 8000 RPMS. THE CAR THEN LURCHED FORWARD ALMOST CAUSING US TO COLLIDE INTO TRAFFIC. AFTER THIS INSTANCE WE DECIDED A TO CALL THE ISSUE IN. UPON OUR INITIAL CALL, THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED AND THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO ANY REPAIRS UNDER THE WARRANTY. WHEN SEARCHING FOR RECALLS WHILE NONE SHOWED FOR OUR PARTICULAR VIN, MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. GIVEN THE NATURE OF THE ISSUE WE CAN CONFIRM THAT CAUSE OF THE ISSUE IS LOSING HYDRAULIC PRESSURE. THIS FAULTY COMPONENT NEARLY COST THE LIVES OF MY 5 FAMILY MEMBERS AS WELL AS OTHER THAT COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED.

I'VE HAD TO HAVE MAJOR WORK DONE TO MY ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. BUT THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS ARE NEVER ENDING. MOST OF THE ELECTRIC INSIDE OF MY CAR HARDLY WORKS. OUR POWER DOORS HAVE CLOSED ON MY KIDS SEVERAL TIMES, THE CAR HAS LOCKED US IN WHILE THE ALARM WAS GOING OFF AND WE COULDN'T GET OUT, IT'S BEEN STUCK ON AND WOULDN'T TURN OFF, THE TRANSMISSION IS CONSTANTLY SLIPPING, THE WINDOWS OPEN AND CLOSE THEMSELVES, MANY TIMES I'VE COME OUT OF THE STORE AND THE ELECTRIC SLIDING DOOR WAS OPEN WHEN IT WASN'T LEFT OPEN, LOCKS LOCK THEMSELVES, CAR ALARM GOES OFF WHILE CARS IN DRIVE AND IN PARK, CAR HESITATES TO GO AND I COULD GO ON AND ON. THIS CAR IS ONLY FIVE YEARS OLD !!!!
BACK WINDSHIELD SHATTERED SUDDENLY. NOTHING HIT IT. DEFECTIVE. SHATTERED DUE TO WEAK CORNER/ DEFECTIVE. SEATBELT BUCKLE BROKEN IN BACK SEAT. DRIVER HEADREST DEPLOYED. TRANSMISSION WENT UP AT 80,000 MILES.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. VAN WAS ORIGINALLY DRIVING FINE AND NOT MAKING ANY NOISES. NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING TO GET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIAGNOSED ON THE CITY STREETS, THE VAN WOULDN'T SHIFT GEARS AND STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. AFTER AN ATTEMPT TO TURN THE VAN ON AND OFF TO GET IT OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, THE VAN WOULD MOVE FORWARD AND THEN SLOWLY DECELERATE. WHEN TOWED TO THE REPAIR SHOP, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE DIAGNOSIS IS A TRANSMISSION PUMP FAILURE. THERE IS A RECALL DUE TO TRANSMISSION PUMP FAILURES HOWEVER WE WERE TOLD OUR VIN # WASN'T AFFECTED. $3700 LATER WE HAD TO GET A REBUILT TRANSMISSION OUT OF POCKET WHEN I BELIEVE THIS WAS RELATED TO THE RECALL.

SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING, MY TRANSMISSION FAILED. NO WARNING NOISES, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I WAS ON A COUNTRY ROAD WITH MY 7 YEAR OLD SON IN THE CAR AND NO HELP FOR MILES. HAD WE BEEN ON A HIGHWAY, WE MAY HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN I HEARD A WHINING/ WINDING SOUND. THE ENGINE REVVED HIGH AND WOULDN'T MOVE FORWARD. I PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER, TURNED MY VEHICLE OFF, TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO GET MY VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT THE COMPUTER IS SHOWING AN ERROR CODE FOR THE TRANSMISSION.

AT 115,000 MILES, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ON MY 2015 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY TOURING FAILED. IT STARTED WITH A SHUDDER, AND THEN HIGH PITCHED WHINING, AND THEN IT SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR. IT HAPPENED VERY FAST, AND WITHOUT WARNING. WE WERE ON CITY ROADS, DRIVING SLOW AND STOPPING AT INTERSECTIONS. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A CHRYSLER DEALER. DEALER SAYS THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THEY ARE INSISTING ON REPLACING THE AC CONDENSER AS WELL, OTHERWISE THEY CLAIM CHRYSLER WON'T HONOR THE NEW TRANSMISSION WARRANTY (APPARENTLY THE TRANSMISSION LINES RUN THROUGH THE AC CONDENSER). TWO OTHER IDENTICAL MINIVANS ARE AT THAT SAME DEALER FOR IDENTICAL REPAIRS. MINE HAD THE MOST MILEAGE AT 115,000. THE TWO OTHERS HAD FEWER MILES. ALL NEED A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. $4400.

ON9/16/2020 NOTED A HIGH PITCHED WHINE STARTED WHEN BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND CONTINUED ON THE HIGHWAY APPROXIMATELY 25 MILES TO WORK. AFTER WORK, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WITHIN 1-1.5 MILES ON LOCAL SIDE STREETS FROM MY WORK, THE CAR BEGAN HAVING TROUBLE WITH ACCELERATION AND BOGGING. I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A LOCAL GARAGE. THANKFULLY, I DID NOT TAKE THE HIGHWAY OR THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS. 9/17/2020 THE SERVICE GARAGE HAD IDENTIFIED NEED TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION. IT ONLY HAS 74000 MILES ON IT AND OUT EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED RECENTLY. THE DAY PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING, A WINDOW MOLDING SUDDENLY FLEW OFF OUR DRIVERS SIDE WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY.

AFTER SITTING AT A STOP AT A DRIVE THRU SERVICE, THE VEHICLE LOST ALL ABILITY TO ACCELERATE WHEN STEPPING ON THE GAS. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND REGAINED CONTROL. DROVE FOR AWHILE AND THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING AND THEN WOULD LOSE COMPLETE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. THE LOSS OF POWER WOULD CAUSE THE CAR TO COME TO A STANDSTILL WITH TRAFFIC HAVING TO DEAL WITH MY NON MOVING CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. ENGINE BEGAN TO WHINE ALSO. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WOULD REGAIN CONTROL FOR A SHORT WHILE UNTIL IT WOULD HAPPEN ALL OVER AGAIN. TOOK IT INTO A MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION PUMP. IT IS RECALLED ON OTHER VEHICLES OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL AND YEAR BUT IT IS NOT COVERED ON MINE. THIS WAS THE FIRST REPAIR TO ANY NON BODY PART OF THE VEHICLE. ALL FLUID CHANGES AND REGULAR PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE WERE KEPT UP TO DATE. IT'S WORRISOME THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED SO EARLY ON SUCH A NEW VEHICLE. *TR

IN MAY 2018, MY VAN LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. I WAS ACCELERATING, AND HAD COMPLETE LOSS OF VEHICLE POWER BUT MAINTAINED ELECTRICAL (LIGHTS/RADIO). MY CAR WAS TOWED AND I HAD A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. I HAD THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE REPLACED (TIPM). RECENTLY I HAVE EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT ISSUES SUCH AS WINDSHIELD WIPERS ACTING UNCONTROLLABLE, RADIO NOT FUNCTIONING AT PERIOD OF TIMES. JUST LAST NIGHT (NOVEMBER 2019) MY CAR LOST ALL POWER AGAIN WHILE DRIVING AND I ENDED UP ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY YET AGAIN. THE SAME THING HAPPENED, THE ACCELERATOR WAS PRESSED AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE RPM JUST DROPPED STRAIGHT TO 0. I SOON LOST MY POWER STEERING BUT WAS STILL ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I STILL HAD LIGHT/RADIO FUNCTION. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. I HAD IT TOWED AND IT IS MY TIPM YET AGAIN.

LAST YEAR SOMETIME, THERE WERE ELECTRICAL ISSUES ADDRESSED. NOW THE AIR CONDITIONING IN THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE DOES NOT WORK. IT SEEMS WE ARE TOTALLY REBUILDING THE CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY 2015 ALL AT SUBSTANTIAL COSTS TO ME. WHILE THEY ARE PUTTING IN A NEW TRANSMISSION, THEY TELL ME THAT THEY ARE TOO BUSY TO CHECK THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE AND THE AIR CONDITIONING TROUBLES. YET I WAITED FOR NEARLY A MONTH FOR A WESTCHESTER DEALER TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AND THEY DID NOT HONOR MY ADDITIONAL INSURANCE BY GIVING ME A RENTAL VEHICLE - SO I HAD NO TRANSPORTATION. I HAVE HAD A HORRIBLE TIME WITH THE TROUBLES, INCONVENIENCES AND COSTS. DON'T I HAVE ANY RIGHTS HERE? I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON NARROW STREETS IN A BUSY RESORT AREA - THANK GOD IT WAS VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING BECAUSE THE CAR JUST STOPPED RUNNING WITH NO WARNING. THIS TURNED OUT TO BE TRANSMISSION ON SUNDAY MORNING LABOR DAY WEEKEND! I AM STILL IN THE RESORT AREA PAYING FOR HOUSING WHILE THEY "FIX" MY TRANSMISSION. PARTS WERE TO ARRIVE YESTERDAY SEPT 10TH BUT DIDN'T ARRIVE UNTIL EARLY THIS EVENING. THEY ARE NOT SURE THEY CAN HAVE IT FIXED BY FRIDAY SEPT 13, 2019. LAST SUMMER THE ELECTRICAL STABILITY WENT BONKERS. THAT WAS ANOTHER ISSUE. ALSO MY VEHICLE KEEPS GOING DOWN IN VALUE. I OWE MORE ON IT THAN IT IS NOW WORTH. TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS

FIRST REPORTED MY TRANSMISSION CONCERN AT 19212 MILES WITH THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT. HARD SHIFTING AND SLIPPED DOWNSHIFT AT STOPS. AT 49100 MILES THE 2ND GEAR ISN'T SHIFTING IN AND REQUIRES FOR ME TO STOP, PULL OVER AND START THE VEHICLE AGAIN. THE SERVICE ADVISOR RECOMMENDED A TRANSMISSION OIL CHANGE. BUT I CONTINUE TO HAVE A SHIFTING PROBLEM AND THE ADVISOR CLAIMS MY VEHICLE NEEDS TO RE-LEARN MY DRIVING HABITS. IT CONCERNS ME TO HAVE THIS AS AN EXPLANATION WHEN THERE IS ONLY 1 YERRA/60K LEFT ON MY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. IN ADDITION WITH 19212 MILES I REPORTED MY DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW MAKING AN UNUSUAL NOISE. DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID NO PROBLEMS EXISTED. AT 49100 MILES MY DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW IS COMPLETELY UNSERVICEABLE AND NOW I'M TOLD I WILL GET A CALL WITH REPAIR COST.
Mileage: 49,100
I REPORTED ISSUES WITH MY TRANSMISSION WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD 19212 MILES ON IT. THE PROBLEM REPORTED HAS BEEN HARD SHIFTING AND HARD DOWN SHIFT AT STOPS. PROBLEMS OCCUR IN CITY DRIVING CONDITIONS. RECENTLY, NOW AT 49100 MILES, 2ND GEAR ISN'T KICKING IN. DANGEROUS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WHEN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC HAS THE TENDENCY TO COME TO A STOP AND THEN GO BUT IF THE VEHICLE DOESN'T SHIFT TO SECOND GEAR. I NEED TO PULL OVER AND SHUT THE VEHICLE DOWN AND TURN IT BACK ON AND HOPE IT WILL TEMPORARY FIX. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT MY DEALERSHIP SAID I NEEDED AND OIL CHANGE (RECOMMENDED IS 60K FOR TRANSMISSION). I WENT AHEAD AND PAID FOR THIS SERVICE BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST IN 2ND GEAR NOT SHIFTING IN. THE DEALER SERVICE ADVISOR SAID MY VEHICLE NEEDS TO RE-LEARN MY DRIVING CONDITIONS. I'M WEARY ABOUT THE ADVISORS EXPLANATION AND WILL FIND THAT AT 60K POWERTRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRATION. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WILL DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AT MY COST. AS IT HAS OCCURRED WITH MY WINDOW MOTOR/REGULATOR. I REPORTED A DISTINCT NOISE WHEN OPERATING THE WINDOWS AT THE SAME MILEAGE NOTED ABOVE. NO PROBLEMS FOUND. TODAY MY VEHICLE IS IN THE SHOP FOR THE SAME PROBLEM BUT IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY AND I WILL BE RECEIVING A CALL WITH THE COST TO REPAIR IT.

VEHICLE HAS 33,000 MILES ON IT AND NEEDS A TOTAL TRANSMISSION REBUILD. IT HAS BEEN TO 2 TRANSMISSION SPECIALISTS AND 1 DEALERSHIP AND HAS HAD SENSORS AND THE TCM REPLACED AND REPROGRAMMED. IT IS STILL SHIFTING ERRATICALLY AND WILL STALL OUT REGULARLY, USUALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF TURNS OFTEN LEADING TO A STALLED VEHICLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION ACTING LIKE IT'S IN NEUTRAL. VEHICLE HAS TO BE SHIFTED INTO PARK AND THEN BACK TO DRIVE FOR IT TO RESET ITSELF. VERY UNSAFE. PROBLEMS STARTED AT APPROXIMATELY 94,000 MILES. VEHICLE WOULD BUCK, CHOKE, SPUTTER, WITH RPM FLUCTUATIONS AND SOMETIMES STALL OUT WHILE APPROACHING A STOP. TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER WHO TEST DROVE IT AND COULD NOT GET IT TO REPLICATE. TOOK IT IN TO ANOTHER MECHANIC WHOM ALSO COULD REPLICATE THE ISSUE BUT SUGGESTED IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. SINCE I KNEW IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, I NEEDED THE DEALER TO BE ABLE TO CONFIRM. NO ERROR CODES EVER FIRED. VEHICLE WAS PODDED TWICE BY THE DEALER. PROBLEM WAS SPORADIC WITH SOME DAYS NOT HAPPENING AT ALL AND OTHER DAYS HAPPENING 5+ TIMES OR IT WOULD ALMOST STALL EVERY TIME I CAME TO A STOP. FINALLY ABLE TO GET IT TO REPLICATE ABOUT 3 WEEKS INTO THE ISSUES WITH A LOCAL DEALER (NOT THE DEALER WHERE CAR WAS PURCHASED) AND HE SUSPECTED TRANSMISSION BUT THEY WERE A MONTH OUT WITH REPAIRS. APPOINTMENT MADE WITH ORIGINAL DEALER AND AGAIN, SERVICE FOREMAN COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO REPLICATE. I BEGGED THEM TO TAKE IT FOR A DAY AND I'D PAY FOR A RENTAL TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON AS WE STILL HAD NO ERROR CODES. AT THIS POINT, THE VEHICLE IS AT 95000 MILES. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOOK IT OUT TWICE THE DAY I DROPPED IT OFF AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THE SECOND DAY HE WAS THEN ABLE TO GET IT TO REPLICATE 10-15 TIMES! HE CONFIRMED IT WAS THE COMPOUNDER IN THE TRANSMISSION AND IT IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
